Reviews for Floreal La Roche-en-Ardenne
Review 1:on the door it's written to clean the flat, to wash the dishes, to aspirate the dust !! When we check out, they asks us to pay 50€ for cleaning fee. I had to negociate to not pay the cleaning fee which was written nowhere and we loose a lot of time, we had to go back to the flat and I have to show them that I have cleaned... it's a shame. The property is purely chlidren and the rooms do not correspond to the luxe that you see on a buiding.
Review 2:If you have children, this place is great.
Review 3:No airconditioning in the room (it was 37 degrees Celsius outside) Service at the bar/terrace very grumpy Swimming pool not accessible with swimming shorts, so my son couldn't use it (and the pool was the reason we chose this place). As far as I know, this wasn't mentioned anywhere on the website so we didn't know in advance.
Review 4:The room is not comfortable, there is this foul smell coming out the bathroom, no aircondition so warm inside and also no wifi. Breakfast is really bad ( around 9:30am we went for breakfast, cheese and ham are all consumed, there is no refill and there are no clean frying pan for the eggs, bread are not fresh etc.)
Review 5:Location
Review 6:All was good.
Review 7:Very friendly staff and the location was fantastic for exploring around the area. We didn't use the pool as the weather wasn't great however we did think the restriction on not being able to wear swimming shorts was a little odd and may put people off using it anyway.
Review 8:We clearly had our "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door while we were gone, and they came in anyways!
Review 9:Comfortable and clean, staff was friendly and helpful
Review 10:The bath room is very small for 5 people (6 person appartement) basic and can use a refurbishment
Review 11:Superb location, good and clean appartement , good restaurant and nice staff
Review 12:I have rented many apts around the world. This was the first place that did not provide any supplies for use in the kitchen such as dish towels and dish washing soap. How do they expect you to wash the dishes?? Had to go out and purchase those items. Also extra toilet paper and garbage bags not provided. A bit noisy on the weekends when sitting on the balcony. Other family members had mice in their unit 1402. A gym facility would have been nice.
Review 13:Because of the location of my unit #1901 being above the conference center, we had wifi at all times. Other family members at the other end of the building had none and had to come to our apt or go to the main building for wifi - which was an inconvenience.
Review 14:Nothing
Review 15:Excellent value - we had two twin rooms were first class. Clean bright and serviced well over the three days we were there. Within walking distance to the town for good food and a drink in the bars. However the service in the restruarant at the Hotel was excellent with great food
Review 16:Some staff (except for reception staff) are not polite (even rude) to non-french speakers. Unfortunately the swimming pool was not open in a perfect summer-day June.
Review 17:Perfect location and nice park next to the river. Walking distance to La Roche en Ardenne.
Review 18:The shower drain was very slow so we had to have only a trickle of water.
Review 19:Having a refrigerator in the room was a nice touch. Breakfast was very good, especially being able to cook our own eggs!
Review 20:I did not like the room which was located at mansard and it felt rather cold inside. Also, even if I opted for a room to accomodate a couple with 2 children, I got individual beds for me and my husband. I had expected a double bed!
Review 21:I liked the breakfast and the great location. Also the restaurant called "La Taverne" is a place with amazing food and friendly staff!
Review 22:the 50 euro cleaning fee was not emphasized enough and wasn't clear (to me) that it's not a part of the price. still a good deal for 3 or more guests
Review 23:For my off season stay, the location was the perfect accommodation for my stay for the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge celebrations (Mid December). The short travel distance to Bastogne (30 minutes) made my commute effortless and easy. If you are traveling to see any historic locations in the Ardennes I recommend this place. It is not fancy but it is functional for the solo traveler who just needs a place to sleep. Breakfast was adequate and filling. The staff very helpful and communicated well. I will plan to stay again on subsequent trips.
Review 24:You should bring with you: dishwashing liquid, soap, toiletry, cloth andwipes, rubbish bags. The 100 euro deposit can be only returned in two weeks (why?..) 4-storied apartment is a bit of a challenge for a family with small children, consider the age of your children.
Review 25:Good location, your own parking lot, spacious room(s), 2 childrenplaygrounds, mini-golf, kid's playroom with lot of games for anyage.
Review 26:no internet in the rooms breakfast closed 10 mins before closing time so we didnt get anyway check in time is near 16.00 and check out 10.00
Review 27:you can take an 1.5 hour walk near the hotel
Review 28:A disappointing hotel. It looks (and charges) like a luxury hotel but behind the facade it is, in fact, an Ibis Budget type establishment: cramped and characterless rooms with small windows and Formica furniture. I found it hot and stuffy, but lacking air conditioning so slept poorly. It has lots of on-site activities, which may be a reason to visit; if you don't want them but do want to explore La Roche, it's a fair walk outside the town centre. A real let-down.
Review 29:The shower was good...
Review 30:Reception man (Jerome) was rude and not at all helpful Check in too late, check out too early In a 6 bed apartment, 2 beds was a couch, loud and in a common area, so no privacy
Review 31:surroundings hygiene the apartment was well equipped
Review 32:we occupied a family room in the hotel main building. the steps to the upstairs beds are steep and you do feel crammed for space.
Review 33:our kids enjoyed the playgrounds a lot. And we could relax while keeping an eye on them.
Review 34:The facilities were very basic, the apartment only really sleeps 4 comfortably with the third bed being a sofa bed in the kitchen diner. Some of the key attractions e.g. the bowling alley were broken and we were told was unlikely to be repaired for some time. Everything you want to do at the hotel costs extra, you cannot swim unless wearing speedo type trunks - short type trunks are not permitted. You have to pay €50 towards the cost of cleaning your room plus €100 deposit for breakages - be aware that even if you paid by credit card you will get your deposit back in cash - much to the frustration of a US guest who was leaving for the States that day. It feels like everything is aimed at extracting as much money from you as possible.
Review 35:Good location being a short walk from La Roche and its restaurants. If you are on a budget, it is cheap.
Review 36:Deposit issue even though reservation was paid by credit card. Why can not be paid back to credit card? The only possibility is that hotel does bank transfer to your Belgium bank account! Unbelievable old manier & inconvenient for customers!
Review 37:breakfast, near the centre
Review 38:At times the bar was very busy
Review 39:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff
Review 40:a lot of noise in the evening (music too loud)
Review 41:the environment
Review 42:Bathroom was too small, the sofa cum bed was not functional, no wifi in apartments
Review 43:location and surroundings
Review 44:Old fashioned/out dated interiour
Review 45:NA
Review 46:Attic rooms a little cramped.
Review 47:Food was very good. Ate in the restaurant (taverne).
Review 48:Az épület és a környék lélegzetelállító, túrázásra ideális. The building and the area is breathtaking, ideal for hiking.
Review 49:Great spot for holiday. Hotel was spot on.
Review 50:Breakfast lady with monday morning grumps!
Review 51:Location and atmosphere
Review 52:no in room wifi and hostel like hotel
Review 53:location and staff
Review 54:Location close to town centre,
Review 55:There are no comments available for this review
Review 56:It is a resort hotel outside the town but within walking distance there is ample car parking the staff were helpful
Review 57:nothing really (maybe only the pillows were too hard)
Review 58:excellent location, very friendly reception
Review 59:No wifi in apartments
Review 60:Location was awesome. The facility was separate and clean
Review 61:Looked great from the outside but inside the rooms were very basic.
Review 62:Location,friendly atmosphere
Review 63:Rooms a bit cramped , little cupboard space
Review 64:The hotel looks like a castle , nice setting , walking , cycling , river runs through grounds
Review 65:price was expensive for one night.Room was small noisey and en suite stank of sewage
Review 66:location
Review 67:Small room. Very late checkin (at 16:00) and early checkout (at 10:00).
Review 68:Very nice position, beside the river, with private park. Private parking. Nice restaurant.
Review 69:* Floor was dusty, and ceiling was with webs and small daddy long legs (type of small spiders) They should clean and touch up the appartment before guests checked in. * Rooms are not soundproof, the appartment next door was with older kids (boys) and noises can be heard through out the last night. Luckily its our last night there that they checked in.
Review 70:* Location was PERFECT! * Bed was comfy and hard, good for guests with backaches. * tennis courts * streetsoccer court
Review 71:The location was great. About a 20 minute drive to Bastogne and an hour from Luxembourg. Facilities were very clean (we stayed in the apartment). You pay a €100 deposit for the apartments and get it refunded in cash as long as you take out the trash on you last day and remove the linens from the bed. Very quiet and easily accessible.
Review 72:At night there was a disco party, and the music at night was really loud. It was hard to get to sleep before 1am.
Review 73:Quite big hotel, good breakfast buffet, nice location outside the town centre with a nice park
Review 74:That the staff asked to clean the apartment without going any products to do so. Also, they didn't give us extra toilet paper. The kitchen also would gain by having a oven and better knives.
Review 75:Most of the features were fine, especially the comfort of the beds.
Review 76:Some of the information about the apartment wasn't up to date on their booking.com page. (But we did stay during their off-season). And I didn't know until after I booked the apartment that I would need to clean it myself, or pay no small amount to have it done by the staff.
Review 77:The apartment was very nice and spacious, and had everything we needed. The kids had a lot of fun on the playground and mini-golf course. Floreal is in an excellent location and there is a beautiful fortress just down the street.
Review 78:We didn´t know but it was an apartment separate from the hotel. Many stairs for a family with kids. They don´t provide any service. You need to clean deeply the last day. We didn´t be there for long, we didn´t cook and we stayed only to sleep but they charge an extra payment of 40 euros because of the cleaning. The prize is a fake prepare at least 40 euros more.
Review 79:The rooms smelled terrible Staff unfriendly One of the beds wasn't made Durty towel Very small No airco No wifi Ungly from inside and in no way comparable with the outside
Review 80:Reasonable breakfast
Review 81:Rooms are small and overheated, so in summer time you can sleep only after room is cooled (midnight). Swimming pool is busy in afternoon due to many kids from nearby apartments and camping. Breakfast is poor, we came at 10:00 there was nothing to eat and tables were not cleaned at all. Most of TV channels are French. Internet WiFi is available only up to 1st floor. There is no signal on second floor at all. Finally we found personnel very unfriendly. Most of personnel does not speak English and does not WANT to speak Flemish which is official language in this country. As far as they found that people do not speak French they simply not provide a service. We made order in restaurant in English and repeat it in Dutch and wait for drinks 33 min and only than were informed that this order (meal) is not available.
Review 82:Excellent location. The hotel is only 10-15m from the river, between small hills (mountain). Free parking is available. Swimming pool is good and big enough. Restaurant is cheap.
Review 83:- the staff only spoke French, except those at the reception who also spoke Dutch and English - you can't choose your table at breakfast, the tables are all assigned in three different rooms: one big and bright room inside, another room inside but small and dark, and a covered veranda with a stunning view (and of course our table was in the small room) - we had a family room on two levels right under the roof, and the airco did nothing to the top level. On really hot days it must be a sauna up there!
Review 84:The location and the building are stunning, it is perfect for families with children. We stayed in a family room and the kids (3 and 5) loved the fact that they had the upper level all for themselves. Breakfast is pretty basic with no warm dishes, but there is more than enough to fill your belly and the chocolate croissants are delicious. There are two playgrounds in the huge garden, one of which is completely in the shade and right below the terrace, so that parents can enjoy a beer while the kids play safely (the playground is fenced). Don't forget to look at the many discounts offered to customers for most of the attractions the little town has to offer.
Review 85:Breakfast start at 08:00. Too late for the start of the la roche marathon at 09:00am Next year more flexible with breakfaststart i hope..
Review 86:That we were allowed to take a shower after check out time
Review 87:Very small uncomfortable beds, not conducive to a good night'ssleep. No bath in the bathroom. Style of the hotel is very dated.Basic rooms.
Review 88:The staff were friendly. Location is very pretty.
Review 89:It should be clearly mentioned in the hotel description that all roomsare only fitted with 2 single beds. No twin beds in any of the rooms.
Review 90:Good location, beautiful surroundings and the staff are very friendly.
Review 91:Room was far too small , you couldn't hardly move 1 step on first part of the room. Decoration very old fashioned, no ambiance in room and rest of building. Pitty that you couldn't find back anything of the castle characteristics inside.
Review 92:Location was good, beautiful castle from the outside. Games available like bowling and snooker.
Review 93:1.wasnt any shelef to put on stuff for 2 people 2.fen wsnt working 3.we are merried couple and we got 2 beds insted of 1 big 4.the resturant was cloesed allready at 2000 while it saied open until 2100
Review 94:1.perfect view 2.perfect loction 3.the hotel has alot of poteniol pitty its pur
Review 95:The rooms are really small and reminds of the '70s, the castle atmosphere stays only at the outside. Small breakfast buffet.
Review 96:The location is good, near to the village La Roche. The countryside next to the hotel is beautiful.
Review 97:Payment is with check in. This is not nescessarily a negative thing, asit saves the waiting at check out (if only they would explain that thatis the reason) but it does give you that hotel California feel; you willstay all the way. Breakfast; the word has more letters than there ischoice. You cannot choose where to sit, the staf does actually pick upyour stuff and move it the moment you try to choose your own table. Thepromised wifi is only available in the lobby. In the room you need acable. Whose phone still needs an internet cable? Rooms are very small, walls very thin. When we were there it was 4 degrees celcius outside, but even with windows open 24 hours, the room temperature stayeduncomfortably hot. No airco present.
Review 98:I've been thinking hard if there's anything positive to say about thishotel, except that the area is beautiful. The best thing I can come upwith is that is a good place if you attend a seminar with a large group
Review 99:We were generally happy with the hote. We stayed for three days. The only thing we would have liked was a hot drinks machine - my wife likes a glass of hot water with a tisane during the evebing. There were no kettles in the room. Otherwise fine,
Review 100:There were a lot of flys in the local resturants and no bug zappers, which madeeating a bit of a chore, the smoking ban is not always fully observed,
Review 101:Beautiful town surrounded by lovely countryside, the vast majority of the locals were extremely helpful although English was not widely spoken, they were very patient in trying to understand my very poor french.
Review 102:Wait staff was very busy at times in restaurant and bar, but should learn to say something to let you know they're aware of you, and will be with you soon, instead of ignoring.
Review 103:Stunningly beautiful location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great price.
Review 104:Wonderful place. The only thing that the hotel needs to make explicit isthat boxer-like swimming trunks are not allowed, but only tight Speedolike trunks are allowed -- apparently for hygenic reasons. I am a nativeEnglish speaker and when a website says no boxer shorts allowed, then, Ithink of underware, not swimming trunks.
Review 105:Stayed in Appartment, which I found pritty dated and in need ofrenovations. Secondly, although we had acces to wifi via our computer -there is no wifi routers in the Appartments to connect smartphones andIpads to wifi - this would be a pleasant addition.
Review 106:Location and value for money
Review 107:The appartments are well equipped and worth their about forty euros pernight. The staff is friendly. Some activities such as minigolf areincluded in the price, the lanes are just underneath the balcony whichis nice for parents. Several 1/2 to 1 day hiking trips leave from LaRoche. This small town has any offer you need, shops, restaurants, tourist office.
Review 108:Looks like a school camp. You have to leave your room at 10:00 even inthe weekend. No free seating at breakfast. Breakfast is among the wordtbreakfast we have seen.
Review 109:I've stayed in better youth hostels, but they were much chaper. Breakfast was a joke.
Review 110:Wifi en sauna
Review 111:very basic room, uncomfortable mattress, rude bar staff, scarce breakfast
Review 112:great location, nice sports facilities on the hotel grounds
Review 113:We stayed in an apartment which was over two storeys. Very spacious. It was very quiet considering the amount of people who were staying.
Review 114:We asked to pay 50 Euro for final cleaning. The family apartment was 3 floors.
Review 115:Very pleasant hotel. Wide choice of activities in area.
Review 116:The swimming pool was closed
Review 117:Excellent location with friendly staff.
Review 118:The swimming pool they advertise is only open 2 months a year (July, August)
Review 119:everything was fine
Review 120:the whole package
Review 121:Very nice houses and good relaxation!
Review 122:The nature, the food at the restaurants around. It is fantastic. The river is great source for fun. The castle is exciting.
Review 123:Rooms need air conditioning, uncomfortably warm, didn't sleep. Breakfast was basic unorganised & poorly staffed.
Review 124:Stunning location
The Fine Print
