Reviews for Edgewater Hotel and Conference Center

Review 1:Pool was over chlorinated to where my granddaughters bathing suit fade. She went with a pink and yellow and came out with a purple. There eyes had to be treated with visine the next day

Review 2:Room was a great comfortable size

Review 3:There was a large group of youths (church conference) that completely ruined our last night's stay. If you book through the Internet call the hotel to confirm no large parties are staying there, it was extremely noisy ! The cleaner also managed to throw away some souvenirs we had purchased (no fault of ours) hide your gifts away. We have not been compensated as yet.

Review 4:Great location

Review 5:Couple of issues. The people that clean the rooms every day don't announce themselves, they just softly knock once and then use their key cards to open the door and walk in on you. The toilet water splashes back up at you when you flush so if you're still sitting on the toilet be prepared to get wet/gross. And lastly, they drained the hot tubs the second day we were there and didn't refill them the whole time we were there so we didn't get to use the hot tub but one time. I don't know if this was because they only fill them on weekends or if they were doing routine maintenance but it was still frustrating not to be able to use them.

Review 6:Location was great, you could walk almost anywhere in downtown Gatlinburg. The room and the rest of the hotel were kept clean. The continental breakfast was a plus as well. Overall, I would stay here again.

Review 7:I liked the location, the free breakfast was great, the pool and hot tub was nice, price was good, and the overal experience was great! I'll be back again!

Review 8:The noise level. I would get to sleep, then be wakened by loud neighbors / children at 12am. The parking is a little tight. When we arrived, there were two staff members behind the desk and neither of them acknowledged us until after they got off the phone. The windows in the elevator area were cloudy/ dingy.

Review 9:The location is perfect for walking around Gatlinburg. The rooms were clean.

Review 10:For the price of the stay... It looks like our 5th floor was renovated and very clean, but the lobby needs attention. With the vast amount of hotels to choose from, the old worn furniture and rugs need to be replaced. The too small and out of place mantle needs to be replaced with one of the large carved beams from one of the local craftsman - there are some beautiful ones out there. The Christmas tree was nice, but don't go cheap on the remaining decorations. Make it warm and festive - there were lots of families with children there when we were.

Review 11:The location is excellent and can walk anywhere. All staff members we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. Loved the front balcony over the river and the view of the space needle. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The heat/air unit kept the room perfect during a very cold weekend. We definitely will stay here again sometime.

Review 12:Beds were too soft need firmer mattresses and bigger pilllows. Also shower tub started backing up as well need to maintain the utilities more frequently.

Review 13:Location was great!

Review 14:Check in had long wait. Heating did not work properly in one room. Rooms could use some painting and updating.

Review 15:Location was decent; rooms were large.

Review 16:The elevators are super slow. In our room when you sat on the toilet, it felt like it was going to rock off the floor, the hair dryer did not work nor did the climate control in the room. Called and told the front desk but did not get any of these problems fixed.

Review 17:The location of this hotel is great! The parking was great!

Review 18:The beds were very uncomfortable and sagging. Toilet plugged and after two requests it was not fixed. Always stay at the Country Inn and Suites whenever traveling and this was a last minute trip so Edgewater was an option. Next visit will book Country Inn and Suites well ahead. They are a dependable chain.

Review 19:Location.

Review 20:Beds were hard. Wanted a view of the creek only had a view of the roof but paid creek side price. Need more elevators for the number of rooms booked. Walls were paper thin.

Review 21:Proximity to downtown excellent breakfast buffet was excellent,

Review 22:The walls were very thin. We could clearly hear people talking in the next room.

Review 23:The location was perfect for us to walk to the things we wanted to see and do.

Review 24:Way too noisy at night and in the early mornings. Loud booms. Idk if it's garbage trucks or what but it was very noisy about 4 am every morning

Review 25:Convenient. Nice pool.

Review 26:Decided at the last minute for a quick weekend getaway with a friend and we had a blast. We loved the location of the Edgewater, easy walk to everything on the strip, all the shopping and restaurants, and was on the trolley line too! Appreciated having the covered parking in the garage at no extra charge (like some hotels). Have absolutely no complaints about check-in, check-out, the room, the staff, the continental breakfast - all made for an enjoyable stay. Would definitely consider staying again.

Review 27:Was leery about the easy public access to the elevators and rooms at all hours through the garage and bridge over the river. Didn't fear for my safety, but situations nowadays........

Review 28:The room was spacious and beds were comfortable.. Breakfast was adequate.

Review 29:Small bathrooms, fit for only 1 person at a time; slight mold seen inbathroom. Room 512 door recently repaired but left unpainted and doorneeded to be slammed to close, disturbing other residents. Roomshouldn't have been rented until door was suitably repaired.Breakfast sausage patties were much too peppery; look into replacingthem with milder sausage for majority taste.

Review 30:Location close to activity center. Beds comfortable.

Review 31:breakfast was lousy--I have a 4 point scale for "free" breakfasts--1 for each of the following--green tea, skim milk, bananas, English muffins. Edgewater's score 0 we actually ate breakfast out half the time also very noisy fan & it turned off & on constantly--we tried, but couldn't get it to run constantly & so cool at night had to have it on

Review 32:near town but not on main street, so quiet nice they had water or coffee all the time (altho I had to use my own tea bags, since I prefer green tea)

Review 33:Really close to Haunted Mansion & could easily hear their music and noise from inside our room. Room was on backside with no view.

Review 34:Had continental breakfast. Great location. Parking underneath.

Review 35:Tight parking spaces in the garage. Definitely not made for today's autos.

Review 36:Rooms were clean, showers had plenty of hot water. Staff kept towels picked up and beds made. Great breakfast.

Review 37:Won't get another room on the back.

Review 38:Location, included breakfast, pool. A shuttle service would be nice. desk staff seemed tired, like they didn't care if we were there or not.

Review 39:The view from our room was the roof top of the indoor swimming pool so that wasn't a pleasant sight. The parking was awful!!!! They don't even have enough spots for everyone to park!!

Review 40:The location was the best thing. My son liked the glass elevator...especially at night when he could see all the lights in Gatlinburg.

Review 41:The breakfast was horrible. They ran out of milk one hour before they closed and refused to bring out anymore. The room smelled. The bathroom was so tiny you had to shut the door to have any room and forget having two people in there.

Review 42:The location

Review 43:Parking sucked! Spaces are tight. Only 2 1/2 levels of parking. Bottom for vans only. Second for cars. Apparently some van drivers can't read. Also this isn't enforced by the hotel.

Review 44:Clean and courteous ! Staff was nice and accomodating.

Review 45:I did not like my view, was looking at woods, instead of overlooking the creek, did not enjoy that view at all,

Review 46:the convienence to the gatlinburg strip

Review 47:Front desk staff could have been a little more friendly.

Review 48:We loved the view of Gatlinburg from our room. The hotel was clean, and look like it had just been freshened up.

Review 49:Tiny parking garage and spaces. Plus there was no where to park due to lack of parking spots available.

Review 50:We loved everything about the hotel except the parking. There wasn't enough room to park your vehicle in a space, plus there were no parking spaces. Other than that the staff was friendly, the hotel was very clean (and I'm a germ a phobic), the breakfast was good, and the pool and hot tub were very nice. The location is awesome. It's in the middle of Gatlinburg.

Review 51:I like the private garage parking, but we had a pick-up truck and the spaces are really tight and hard to maneuver and didn't care for it much. It was ok for minivans and cars. Asked for a river view but didn't get it. Overlooked the pool.

Review 52:Rooms were average, but roomy with a small balcony. Hotel was a little dated, but clean. Front desk staff were very friendly and a fast checkin and checkout.

Review 53:The "clean" towels smelled bad even though they appeared clean, like maybe they had sat in the washer for a day or two and got moldy. The bathroom was entirely too small, one person could barely move around in it comfortably.

Review 54:We loved the location of the hotel and also the indoor/outdoor pool area.

Review 55:Not really bad, but the parking was tight for a Camry. Can't imagine parking a full sized American car there. (They were dry, though.)

Review 56:Friendly staff. Clean rooms & bath rooms.

Review 57:The room was an excellent price, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good as was the location. I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again.

Review 58:Well the only down point other than parking is you can hear others in the hallway when they are slamming doors and letting their kids run wild at 7am! But that isn't the hotel's fault.

Review 59:The staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean! We stayed here about 6 years ago and it was okay but now they have really step up their quality in all areas.

Review 60:Staff was friendly but could have been nicer at check in. Only two elevators for the entire hotel. Elevator wait times were horrible in the morning due to people checking out.

Review 61:We loved the location, the pool and hot tubs were very nice, the breakfast was adequate, and we liked the room we were in. The beds are very comfy and hotel cleaning staff was great.

Review 62:We 3 families always get together once a year in Gatlinburg. I was disappointed that I could not be close to the other family members as I had asked to be, when I booked it. They did, however, move me for the last 2 days so that I could be closer to my family which I greatly appreciated.

Review 63:Staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy with our stay.

Review 64:I didn't like that our room was on the back side of the hotel. Nothing in the promotion talked about the back side but whether instead talked a lot about the balcony view of the creek with the ducks.

Review 65:Loved the hot breakfast, the parking, the location.

Review 66:The first room was mountainside and had a bad musty odor. We requested another room on the riverside. There was still a slight musty odor. Both rooms were on the 5th floor. We wondered if there had been a bad leak on this floor.

Review 67:location - the view from the riverside balcony was pleasant

Review 68:The views from the rooms at the back of the hotel are not good.

Review 69:Friendly, helpful staff, great location, clean room and comfortable beds. Would stay again.

Review 70:Staff was great! Somehow my reservation ended up under another name. They were able to figure that out and get me checked in pretty easily. Everyone was very kind and welcoming!

Review 71:I liked the location easy to get to shops on the strip of gatlinburg. The guest and staff where all nice. Easy check in and breakfast was plentiful in the morning.

Review 72:Price for the size and comfort of the room was passable, but not the best. Parking was claustrophobic and a little packed in.

Review 73:Friendly staff, willingness to accommodate needs

Review 74:I always try to stay here because of its location. Love the hot breakfast. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Room is a little dated, yet very clean. Would stay here again when I ever come back into Gatlingburg.

Review 75:No smoking on the property. Could use a smoking area somewhere outside the hotel. Breakfast could have been better.

Review 76:Convenience to downtown. Good view. Ease of check in and check out. Comfortable beds with lots of pillows.

Review 77:The desk staff were not very welcoming or pleasant and I did not ask for anything special I just felt like oh here's another one checking in, you vacation and try to find a home away from home however there was not a homey welcome there

Review 78:We have stayed there 4 or 5 times convenient and affordable

Review 79:General condition of the hotel was not very clean or impressive. Parking lot is the tightest I have ever encountered. It took me 10-15 minutes to move the car our of the parking garage as things were so tight

Review 80:Location was perfect - no need to take your car out of the parking garage. Can walk to ALL the attractions

Review 81:breakfast could have had more variety, in fruit, all i saw was apples. what about some bananas, cantelope, grapes ?

Review 82:Liked the convenient location to downtown

Review 83:It was next to a Haunted House, which was a little weird. Aside from my room and the lobby, the hotel really showed signs of age. There are only two elevators, and the alternative stairs were pretty filthy.

Review 84:The rooms were immaculately kept up, with just a few signs of age.

Review 85:I have nothing bad to say.

Review 86:This was our second stay here. I love everything. The rooms, the breakfast, the staff. The pool area is great. Everything is always so clean, and great balcony views. We will definitely be back!

Review 87:Wish the lounge was still in the facility

Review 88:Staff was very accommodating. ....there was a mix up with our reservation through a website but the management went above and beyond to make it right! Very comfortable room....

Review 89:Would have liked a directory of hotel services in the room and a fan in the bathroom.

Review 90:Loved being one street over from the middle of Gatlinburg! So easy to drop stuff at our room as we spent the day browsing the shops. Great room and location for the value!

Review 91:some cleanliness issues....hairs, etc. is on river, but small. more appropriately on back road behind parking lot....which cut down on local noise. interesting pool area which smelled strongly of propane. when asked, staff responded smell was from hot tub heater exhaust.....inside??

Review 92:nice breakfast, but not enough space/food with weekend crowds. great location

Review 93:Wife discovered black mold in bathtub in the spaces where the wall sections meet. WiFi was extremely slow.

Review 94:Good location, pool was clean (but cold), staff was nice.

Review 95:Our room was on the backside. We had a balcony, but the view was of a wooded hillside--no "mountain" as described. However, it worked out well, since there was a lot of people on the street at this time of year and rooms on the front may have been noisier than we would have liked anyway. The only other negative was there are only two elevators for the entire hotel, so sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for them. These were the only complaints. We would definitely stay here again!

Review 96:Rooms and facilities were very clean. Great location--within walking distance of most attractions in Gatlinburg. Trolley stop just outside front entrance. Rooms were surprisingly quiet and beds were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 97:Use of Styrofoam for breakfast. Was very disturbed that a place like this was using styrofoam with no concern for the environment.

Review 98:Friendly staff, great location.

Review 99:Some parts of the hotel smelled a little musty and I found one of the hotel housekeeping staff extremely rude. Every time I went to eat breakfast the meat was burnt and the elevators take a really long time to get anywhere in the mornings. However, these things didn't bother me because it was just a vaca with my family so I didn't have any places to be at certain times

Review 100:I loved my view and the parking was super close to elevators for your room! The front desk workers were all super sweet! & I loved that the pool had inside and outside options!

Review 101:Cleanliness, hard bed, bathroom cleanliness, ice machine didn't work on most floors, and the worst parking facility I've ever experienced.

Review 102:Breakfast and WiFi

Review 103:Hotel is a bit dated, needs some updating. Breakfast was ok.

Review 104:Nice view of the city and mountains (after paying 20$/day +tax extra since "mountain view" as stated on the site means a wall of green trees but not really a view of anything else). Good location, short walk to everything but away from the noise of the tourist area.

Review 105:There was nothing bad about it. It was a great experience.

Review 106:Friendly staff and the location was great. The breakfast was good, the indoor pool and hot tub was a bonus. Covered parking was another plus.

Review 107:Elevators somewhat slow...but not too bad. We were a little confused upon arrival as to where to parrk & how to check in.

Review 108:Loved the location. Convient to everything . Enjoyed walking to Parkway from hotel. Very clean. the parking garage was nice we didn't even break a sweat unloading or loading. Easy in & out.

Review 109:Overall appearance of the area we were in should be upgraded/cleaned etc. The carpet in our room had a funny odor, but to be honest I was too tired to even mention it to the staff.

Review 110:Room was decent and clean enough Breakfast was nice.

Review 111:Stair well is on the ends of buildings. You have to go out side at one point to get to the next stairway. Very strange. Only 2 elevators for a lot of people to use. Spend some time waiting on elevators.

Review 112:Room was what we wanted, close walk to attractions and restaurants.

Review 113:The location of the hotel The pool and the hottub The people was really nice The cleanses of the hotel The view from the balcony was breath taking.

Review 114:Did not like the extremely slow elevators and we weren't able to smoke on our balcony. If I'd known that I would have booked elsewhere. There's a whole lot of food space and little food for breakfast.

Review 115:Bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Review 116:Little outdated but clean. Elevators very slow, hot tub was on and hot but no jets so basically just bathtub.

Review 117:Conveniently located, free breakfast was pretty good.

Review 118:We have 5 year old little boy and everytime we walked out of the room it smelled like pot. Clearly some there was a party going on from morning to morning but it was unacceptable.we stayed for 5 nights and 4 of the nights were like that terrible! The pool was filthy. We asked for maintenance even to clean it out selves cause no one ever came. :(

Review 119:Free breakfast and room was cozy

Review 120:The hotel has a 2 1/2 level parking garage but the spots are very small making it terrible for parking. Small cars work best!

Review 121:Great location, close to everything in downtown Gatlinburg. The manager "Pete" was very helpful.

Review 122:The majority of the staff was extremely rude with the exception of the cleaning ladies. The elevator was a nightmare (slow/always packed) Pool and hot tubs were too small for the size of the hotel.

Review 123:Great location. Within walking distance to everything.

Review 124:SLOW ELEVATORS!!!! Paper cup on roof of check-in office needs removed.

Review 125:Overall, great value!! We will stay there again! We had a flat tire, on a Sunday morning, and the staff was so helpful, even temporarily fixing the tire so we could make it to Walmart for a repair. Very kind...all of the staff! Great location, too!!

Review 126:During early check in, I mentioned to Lori that we were celebrating our 50th anniversary. When we returned from lunch to check into our room, there was an envelope with our name on on it on the bed. Inside was a congratulations card from the staff. Inside the refrigerator were two champagne glasses and a bottle of sparking cider. We were blown away at the thoughtfulness. Thanks, Lori!

Review 127:Parking is mostly for compact cars, piss ants in room, tv didn't work had to get maintenance to change out, they needs some updating

Review 128:Liked location only

Review 129:We were disappointed with the breakfast, out of juice and milk, gravy and biscuits but no sausage, we ate out for breakfast after the first morning. The hotel itself needs updating, rooms are small, the balcony was very small, no fan in the bathroom, very slow wifi, very slow elevators, you get what you pay for in those areas.

Review 130:The location can't be beat, a few minutes walk from the Village, Fort Fun, the space needle, Bubba Gumps, Mellow Mushroom. Plenty to do without ever driving anywhere, and easy to stop your room if needed. Our son loved the pool, although it was small and needs updating. Friendly staff.

Review 131:This hotel is right on the river with a walking bridge to the parking garage and elevators. It's also one block from the main strip. The views are excellent, parking and Wi-Fi are free. Each room has a private balcony! We'll definitely stay here again.

Review 132:Looks a bit old inside. Some renovations would help. Overall a good place to stay if you are not looking for luxury.

Review 133:Very good location.Close to everything.

Review 134:I did not agree with the parking situation. Area is definitely too small for the number of guest that checked in. The room all though clean needs updating. There were a ton of cracks in walls.

Review 135:I enjoyed the staff and location of the hotel. The hotel was greatly cleaned.

Review 136:We planned an overnight stay in Gatlinburg and were delighted with the location, facility, and staff. The on-sight parking was extremely convenient for those wishing to explore the area. And what a treat to enjoy watching the river flow past while eating a delicious breakfast. We'll be back.

Review 137:Only complaint would be the bed, my body was not happy the next morning. I would say again for the nightly rate we got (last minute winter rate), would not pay more until they replace pillows and mattresses.

Review 138:It was clean, on site parking, nice pool, decent breakfast, staff was pleasant.

Review 139:There was no easy access to the street. It snowed and they closed the walkway to the street. I was told that the steps were steel and too slippery. The driveway was not cleaned for walkers and the other walkway was not on edgewater's property.
