Reviews for Bavarian Haus Lakefront Inn
Review 1:Jaime at the front desk was a marvellous, helpful, considerate concierge. The room was huge and comfy. The hot tub was fantastic. Incredible value for money (stayed in winter during the off-season, mind you.) Really enjoyed our stay, would absolutely return.
Review 2:Carpets were filthy in the room, afraid to let kids play on floor, 1 hot tub went down and they had to drain it
Review 3:Curtious staff, warm pool, comfy bed, lake view and waves lapping
Review 4:the mattress was hard, both of our backs hurt the next two days, the screen didn't lock so we couldn't leave the glass door open...the glass door was extremely hard to open and close, rigged up with a piece of metal because that also didn't have a lock on it. The breakfast food was the cheapest quality possible. This hotel needs a huge upgrade.
Review 5:It was on the lake front
Review 6:The exterior entrance door to the annex where our room was located wasnot locked all night. The hotel was clean, but just looked a bitoutdated. I was surprised to see an older style box television!!! Itdoes say that in the review, but I didn't notice it. No matter ifyou are just looking for a place to sleep. We came from a Holiday InnExpress in Traverse City which was $205/night and the contrastbetween the 2 hotels was quite noticeable. But... We took the $115 thatwe saved and spent it on souvenirs. The balcony was really nice and sowas the view. (You cannot see the bridge from this balcony.)
Review 7:The location was great and we loved the view and the balcony.
Review 8:The view was beautiful. The room was large and clean. Beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay there again. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was also good.
Review 9:Friendly staff who were very informative and made us feel welcomed. Room was very nice and the pool, whirlpools and sauna were wonderful too. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely book again if coming to St. Ignace.
Review 10:Hotel was a bit run down, breakfast was decent but the location was odd. The pool looked nice but the hot tub was out of order. Funny smell in the hall way For the cost, I think I would stay at one of the other newer hotels closer to town.
Review 11:I liked the spa tub
Review 12:The bed killed my back, spider webs in the corners of the room. shower handle was flopping around and the room and hotel was showing allot of wear. Needs updated.
Review 13:The awesome sunrises, the balcony and breakfasts were good.
Review 14:Reception desk staff were friendly, efficient, and very helpful in choosing a ferry line ( Sheplers: they were fantastic ! ), and a great restaurant ( Galley ). Left on our own we would probably have guessed incorrectly.
Review 15:Staff was very helpful and accommodating, room was clean and comfortable, upgraded us to a suite at no extra charge when we asked for a rollaway bed, excellent view of the lake, would stay here again and recommend it to others
Review 16:Our stay was very relaxing. The room was excellent and the beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. Our room was very clean and the view of Lake Huron and Mackinac Island was very nice. The staff was friendly and we will definitely be coming back next year and staying even longer.
Review 17:I thought the beds were hard, but my husband didn't have a problem. Might be time to buy some new mattresses. I also think that the doors to the balcony should have screens.
Review 18:Loved that all rooms face the water and have a magnificent view. The pool was warm, and that was a major plus, plus it stays open later than most hotels.
Review 19:The view was wonderful! The workers couldn't have been more helpful! The breakfast was great! It was very enjoyable and I wanted to go back again right away!
Review 20:The rude guests.
Review 21:Staff was extremely helpful!!!! We had a issue with our Jeep causing us to check out hours past check out time and they were more then accommodating, loaning us tools and assistance while our boys relaxed in the room. When I returned the tools and asked what I owed them to my surprise they said you don't owe us anything. This is a hotel I will give all my business when ever I'm in St Ignace.
Review 22:The beds could have been a little more comfortable but other than that it was very nice.
Review 23:Great deck with an amazing view! ! ! Would definitely stay there again.
Review 24:The pool area was noisy and wet, and didn't look too clean, so we didn't use it at all. The rooms and windows really need to be cleaned. There were dead insects in the window track on the inside.
Review 25:The location and views, were fabulous. The rooms were large.
Review 26:Phone signal and Internet connections are spotty at best. The continental breakfast leaves a bit to be desired.
Review 27:The location on the water was so peaceful! It's close to town but away from all of the busy tourists and traffic. Having coffee on your private balcony in the mornings and evenings was great!
Review 28:Our room had a slight musty smell. Possibly because it was a jacuzzi room. Vent a little noisey.
Review 29:Beautiful view of Lake right outside back door. Gorgeous sunrise.
Review 30:The wifi was a bit slow but no big deal.
Review 31:I really liked the view of the lake from the balcony. The room was very comfortable and well maintained. There were two hot tubs and a sauna. It was nice having the second tub away from the pool. My wife wants to stay there again when we can go back to Mackinac Island
Review 32:The younger staff acting as if they were at a social event with little regard for the guest. Very poor housekeeping completeness not noticing tp was low. We did have to go to the desk for tp and towels twice in a 4 day stay
Review 33:View
Review 34:The wifi is very slow, hard to connect, breakfast is not good. Staying in weekend is bit expensive.
Review 35:The lake view is amazing, the pool is good, room is clean and bed is okay.
Review 36:Great Clean facility with well kept lawn enhancing the view of the Lake, Good value for the money.............Free Shuttle to and from Ferry Dock, just a good experience all around.
Review 37:The hotel is in great need of updating. The exterior door to the side we were in had no security. The bed was hard and uncomfortable.
Review 38:The location was good. The lakeside view was nice. The staff was good.
Review 39:Stay was good but it could have been better if the front desk help explained where the location of the breakfast, exercise room, pool, etc. They seemed to assume that we were familiar with everything even thought it was our first time there.
Review 40:Not really a bad experience but the chair that we sat in had a broken back on it and we almost fell through.
Review 41:Front desk staff was friendly. It was also a close location to the ferry boats to Mackinac Island.
Review 42:Did not like that we did not have a door between our 2 rooms for our 7 member family. Did not like the extra small frig. on top of a wooden box
Review 43:Location.
Review 44:Bed was extremely uncomfortable!!! Mattresses need to be updated. Stuffed Chair was broken. Lakefront patio and furniture needed cleaning. Breakfast area is too small for the number of guests
Review 45:The location on the lake and proximity to the docks
Review 46:Lousy breakfast, INTERNOT- claim that they are adding another line for faster service. I had 1 to no bars of WIFI signal the whole time. Overpriced.
Review 47:Decent room.
Review 48:Room was dusty & not very clean. Stated their was free WiFi but WiFi was non-existent. Place needs to be remodeled/updated.
Review 49:Bathroom areas were very clean. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was pretty good too.
Review 50:Room was spacious with a layout suited for traveling with a family. Room was clean and the staff was friendly. My kids really enjoyed the pool facility. Breakfast had a good variety of different items. Not the most modern hotel but clean and well maintained. It is within walking distance to dining and has a beachfront area with picnic tables.
Review 51:Old bldg, that was dirty and needs a series of updates. Very uncomfortable bed that was low to the ground, over priced for what you get.
Review 52:Friendly and helpful staff. Nice location
Review 53:the bed was a little hard and the bathroom walls were pretty stained and it was hard to keep the bugs out of the room.
Review 54:The location was great and the coupons helped and the beach area was free of goose droppings.
Review 55:Coffee was a little weak. When we first walked in, the room smelled musty but then was ok.
Review 56:Loved the view of mackinac from our room. The magic bag was worth the price
Review 57:The person that cleaned the room never cleaned the balcony, there was garbage from the last people that rented the room.
Review 58:Front Office Staff was very helpful. The location of the property and the grounds. The building itself is dated.
Review 59:The whole place is just a little warn and old appearing. Our screen door kept falling off the track. A little facelift and more modern furniture would go a long way.
Review 60:The location along the lake was beautiful and every staff person we met was very nice. The room was good size. Great proximity to the ferry to Mackinac.
Review 61:The Breakfast Room was crowded; not enough room for everyone to get their food. Food selection was minimal.
Review 62:We were looking for quiet and beautiful. We got both at this hotel. The grounds were immaculate!
Review 63:Breakfast was sub par even for free-also booking.com wouldn't honor the lower price which expired because of their slow response to verify so ended up spending more than should have
Review 64:Nice location and view
Review 65:The staff is amazing, great people, and extremely helpful and fun!!We love Tosie and Lorie and staff!! CERY HAPPY WE CHOSE THE BAY VIEW BED AND BREAKFAST! ! ♡♡♤
Review 66:Bedspread was one of those outdated and scratchy ones which we just took off the bed. The headboard on the bed had some interesting chew marks on the top. The hair dryer was almost useless and I wished I had brought my own. Wifi was hit or miss on whether it would work and usually only worked by the doorway.
Review 67:The room was clean and had a great view of Lake Huron. We were also impressed that they had a hot tub specifically for adults. Breakfast was ok...biscuits and gravy with sausage, cold hard boiled eggs, bagels, toast, small muffins, pastries, cereal, etc.
Review 68:Not alot of kid stuff to eat. Also I don't have much more besides the arcade sucked. Like no crane machines.
Review 69:All the stuff you could do. I liked the pool, and the hot tub, and whirlpool. The volleyball net and playground was nice. And I loved the view.
Review 70:Food was ok; not great. Made two out of the three beds after our first night. Young girls staffing breakfast were on their phones and not very helpful.
Review 71:Location is great; right on the water. Relatively quiet. Very helpful front desk people. Lots of choice at breakfast (baked goods, cereals, hard boiled eggs, sausage gravy, sausage patties)
Review 72:Just wish it would of been renovated, run down. Small tv's. Terrible wi-fi connection
Review 73:The grassy area on waterfront was fantastic. Breakfast was good.
Review 74:nothing much on the hotel...maybe one comment on the area is no good restaurants nearby..
Review 75:Lake view from the room, Good room service, nice free breakfast, accommodating staff..
Review 76:I am not a fan of their breakfast. Go down the street to Java Joe's. They had a great breakfast!
Review 77:Room was very clean, but nothing fancy. We were able to stay here for for three night for the cost of one on Mackinac island.
Review 78:The black gnats prevent you from using the balcony but it is a nice view. The beds are old as is most of the facility. There were 3 couples and a friend with her daughter traveling together so it was just a place to stay. I think there are better options in the area. Do more research or ask someone familiar with the area to get a better option. It was clean which is better than new and dirty but that is about the best I can say. Breakfast is so-so, microwave foods yourself, there are boiled eggs, yogurt, cold cereal and variety of pastries.
Review 79:The location was fine. St. Ignace is quieter, not really as cute as Mackinaw City but was less busy so it was a better choice for us. The owners suggested the Mackinac Grill and Villager across from it and they were both really good.
Review 80:Bugs! Not hotels fault. All over the area but couldn't enjoy balcony or grounds because of pesty bugs. Pool could use some work, starting to chip and peel. Towels more easily available.
Review 81:Location. Value. Breakfast included. Pool and hot tubs.
Review 82:Our room was very comfortable and had a beautiful view of the bay and Mackinac Island. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and the breakfast was quite good as well. A very good value for the money.
Review 83:Several staff rooms were visible to us, the public. Kinda messy in those. Decor could use some upgrading, particularly in the areas outside the bedrooms. I would like to know what the secret is to getting the best price here. I booked about three months in advance, yet still paid more than most of the people I met.
Review 84:The room was comfortable and close to the fitness room and breakfast room, making it very convenient for me. Everything was clean. When I was unable to obtain wifi in my room the tech person went the extra mile to make sure everything worked correctly. I really appreciated her attention. I was there for the Mackinac Bridge walk so I appreciated the breakfast being ready an hour before it usually is. There were many breakfast choices, making it possible for me, a vegan, to fill myself up!
Review 85:elevator noise by room, carpets falling apart in hallways, very little accessories in room, coffee pot part missing, & small towels.
Review 86:Clean rooms. Great view. Beds ok.
Review 87:There was no view unless you left the patio shut, then very poor - If you opened the door to the patio, there was a warning note that you would have hundreds of nats and also bats in your room. It was dark land dingy, we had breakfast elsewhere, very poor. Wish we had known...
Review 88:TV outdated.
Review 89:Beat all expectations! Would definitely stay there again. Super Staff all around. Great view of the lake. Great location with local businesses and the ferries to the Island are right down the road.
Review 90:The breakfast was one of the worst we have had on a trip. Toaster did not work, too much styrofoam and said they were environmentally friendly.
Review 91:The room overlooked Lake Huron and was a beautiful view. Room was clean and comfortable. Great location for catching the ferry to Mackinac Island.
Review 92:Had to wait 2 hours past the check-in time for the room to be cleaned, which was very inconvenient. However, the room did not look exactly clean when we finally checked in (the table was dusty,...). Not bad overall, just expected better quality for the price (based on previous reviews).
Review 93:The balcony overlooking Lake Huron
Review 94:We walked into a room filled with gnats. The TV in the bedroom did not have a picture, only sound. The sign on the table in the room said do not open the patio door or the bats will fly in. The breakfast selection was very poor; very salty. No coffee cream, only powered non-dairy. The people upstairs were noisy. Something was humming all night. Terrible stay for @$219.00 a night
Review 95:the view was wonderful.
Review 96:Not a thing. Had a great stay.
Review 97:Friendly and knowledgeable staff, clean facilities, unbelievable view, convenient location, surprisingly good breakfast.
Review 98:We can't change the weather but we had on and off rain so it was difficult to enjoy the deck and the view. There were a lot of small flies/bugs.
Review 99:The location was easy to get to. The view of the lake was wonderful. A very good deal for the money.
Review 100:As with any real life beach, the goose droppings made the beach side less than ideal.
Review 101:It was a pleasant stay but the shoreline was less than advertised.
Review 102:Our room was under hotel laundry facilities and we couldn't get much sleep because you could hear someone walking back and forth all throughout the night. The bedspread really needs to go. It is outdated. It would be great if all the linens were upgraded.
Review 103:Staff so friendly and accommodating, lake views, good location, peaceful, clean
Review 104:upon check-in,did not find my reservation, worked efforletley to make sure I did not get billed somewhere else, all worked out!! great people, great place!!
Review 105:The view, the cleanliness and the friendly staff. We were only going to stay 1 night but we liked it so much we stayed another night. We would have liked to stay a week if we had the time. Thank You for the pleasant stay.
Review 106:Older hotel. Needs some maintenance / updating. Rough around the edges.
Review 107:Comfortable room. Good view of Mackinac Island and the Straits. Coffee maker & fridge in room. Close to ferry and restaurants.
Review 108:Not to much bad,the hot tub was only warm and the towels were small. Maybe have a few more things for breakfast but all in all it was very pleasant
Review 109:Loved the view the lake over looking the island, the room was a good size room, never heard a thing from another room, so it was nice and quiet
Review 110:The casino doesn't have tables running 24 hours a day. I saw 2 girls there that didn't want anything to do with me. The ferries are a little screwy with their times.
Review 111:The room was ok, but the pool and hot tubs were very exceptional.
Review 112:Breakfast staff was rude and crude both days. They had conversations with each other about other guests and about how they were stuck there because some guests had the audacity to show up at 10 minutes to close. They had already shut off coffee, packed away everything and then showed clear inconvenience, never once offering so much as a donut to a 3 year old who was looking longingly into a prematurely closed container. They had hateful looks on their faces the entire time and the next day there were more people in the dining area and they were just as rude.
Review 113:Location, pool, rooms were dated, but clean and large. Hotel has a lot of character.
Review 114:Wifi internet very spotty; pool wasn't the cleanest and the hot tub needed cleaned/more water. Non-smoking room still smelled of smoke; overall decore could use some updating.
Review 115:Views were gorgeous and we enjoyed the swings/outdoor seating that was available. Overall location was excellent.
Review 116:there's nothing that I didn't like
Review 117:very pleased and impressed with the roomenjoy the lake view especially the morning sunrisewould definitely recommend to others and would definitely stay again
Review 118:Well they could upgrade there rooms a bit more. The tv was an old style tv instead of a flatscreen. There was a sign warning you of moscitos and other bug if you choose to go outsite the room. Eventhough we never exit to go outsite to the lakefront , we still had bugs in the room. They could spray outsite if they exspect there guests to injoy the lake view. Location of the hotel was almost out of the town. They could lower the price of the rooms a bit .The advertising on the sites were kind of deceiving. It looked really beautiful but when you get there is not what you expected.
Review 119:The room came with a spa tub. And the room had a separate entrance leading outsite to the lake front. Personal was very friendly and informed you of all the activities in the area. Location of the hotel was near the lakefront.Rooms were clean and big. The view to the lake from your room was nice. Really enjoyed the spatub.
Review 120:Cell signal was poor but that's a result of the location and building materials. Really the only negative, and shouldn't even be one.
Review 121:Staff helpful, upgraded room to suite when reservation was incorrectly made by Booking.com. (*gasp*)
Review 122:An envilope for the cleanning ladys tip..
Review 123:Beautiful view of the lake...
Review 124:Room to cold.Took along time to warm up.
Review 125:Loved our room! Loved the hotel :) Definitely will go back.
Review 126:I love the friendly staff
Review 127:Fair breakfast
Review 128:Nice view from room
Review 129:Friendly staff, clean rooms, and overall a very nice experience for a reasonable price. Would go back.
Review 130:Hallways look worn.
Review 131:Awesome view. Awesome breakfast.
Review 132:Just a little old but still wonderful
Review 133:Location, view
