Reviews for Rio Del Sol Inn Needles
Review 1:Arriving on New Years Eve,I was concerned about the potential for a noisy night at the motel...the opposite was true. We enjoyed a good sleep in a very comfortable room and continued our travels early the next day. Would recommended this motel to anyone!
Review 2:Nothing bad...but a grass area for the doggies would have helped....not a necessity but a bonus....
Review 3:That it was pet friendly. Great greeting from front desk upon arrival. Concern for our well being to keep us away from a potential noisy group so as not to disturb the pets (group was not noisy). Good sz room
Review 4:The beds were a little hard and uncomfortable...
Review 5:Good location! Great stopover between the Grand Canyon and Joshua Tree NP. Very quiet and cool inside.
Review 6:DeskPC Connection in office very slow. After 2x swiping my MC and no connection I decoder to pat cash!! No elevator, but when leaving a staffperson took my bag down for me! ? When packing my stuff my foot-in houseshoes- under the ruffle stepped on some food. I always travel with cleaning equipment so Itook several wipes to clean it up. It was relatively recent and smelled like half An appleturnover.
Review 7:Space, good bed, good shower. Pool, thoughunheated, I could swim in it! Hot tub and sauna super!
Review 8:Room smelled like smoke but staff promptly apologized and took care of problem.
Review 9:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Clever sign in front "your imaginary friend can stay for free"
Review 10:The only thing that would have made it better is breakfast, otherwise very happy with everything.
Review 11:Staff very nice. Good coffee in the office. Nice atmosphere in the area. Nice pool.
Review 12:The welcome was terrific as were the pool etc. we were on route 66 and stayed 1 night but this place impressed us. A little oasis when the temperature reached 100F! The location is a little out of town but there are plenty of places to eat around.
Review 13:The only thing is on the website it says there is breakfast, and there is not. But there is coffee and tea
Review 14:Man at the front desk was very friendly. I booked the room last minute and the room was clean and comfortable and the rate was excellent!
Review 15:Non smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke, so they sprayed a desanitizer to make it non smoking, still smelled like cigarettes all the bedding and room.
Review 16:close to freeway
Review 17:Pool was a bit dirty. Bathroom door did not close very well. AC a bit noisy.
Review 18:Staff were lovely. Good restaurant the Wagon Wheel across the road. Good for the money.
Review 19:The A/C was noisy and the carpet in the room looked and felt very dirty.
Review 20:Location worked well for us, the staff was very nice. Room was clean, carpet needed attention.
Review 21:After 11 hours of driving and calling ahead to ensure late check-in, no one was in front office! Rang all bells, including "night" bell, telephoned (let ring 30+ times), knocked on door for 10+ minutes. Had to scramble to find a room at 1 a.m. with a pet. Cannot rely on Rio Del Sol!!
Review 22:Location.
Review 23:Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Called us after we checked in to make sure everything was to our liking. Recommended a great place for dinner nearby. Place was quiet, clean and comfortable. And very convenient while traveling the highway.
Review 24:Excellent non-corporate/chain mo/hotel. Good size room and great value for money. Not run down like many similar establishments. Good pool and open late - a major consideration in scorching Needles (40 degrees +/100 f +). Dennys and other breakfast options nearby.
Review 25:Not bad, but the internet connection was slow and frustrating
Review 26:I had neither a good nor bad experience. it is like many roadside motels. It does try to be clean, but the rug had multiple stains.
Review 27:Smoke detector kept going off and was removed due to something they couldn't figure out. Room right above us had a young child running around during night for both nights we were there, I mentioned this to staff.Pool was over chlorinated.
Review 28:Staff very nice, close to restaurants.
Review 29:Nothing
Review 30:Great value for money. Rooms small but very clean. Pool area clean and towels provided. Next door to garage and fantastic cafe for meals. Staff extremely helpful. Free wifi.
Review 31:There is a freight train that the runs behind the hotel. Very loud outside, but never heard it from inside the room with the A/C on. Ask for a room near the front office.
Review 32:Very friendly staff, A/C was running and the room was cooled down when we arrived in 104 degrees. Bed was very comfortable, shower had good water pressure, quiet A/C unit. Liked that they provided 2 packs of coffee instead of the usual one. Very convenient to the interstate, next to several fast foods restaurants. large empty lot behind the hotel to walk the dog. Nice pool area.
Review 33:Stayed here for one night for a stop-over between LA and Grand Canyon. Friendly staff, all the amenities we needed. Really great value for money. Highly recommended.
Review 34:Pool/hotub area very clean but sparse, would be AWESOME if it were a bit more welcoming. But I'm NIT-PICKING HERE!!
Review 35:Staff was SUPER SWEET! Every one of them polite and helpful! Clean and comfy rooms. Overall VERY pleasant even if not frilly :-)
Review 36:Nothing (You may complain about the train noise, but with windows closed and aircon on, you wont notice it)
Review 37:+top reviews on booking deserved +clean & comfy room +pool (check it out under night sky) +comfort & value for money though being only place around and looking like a truck stop +recommended choice when going LA to Grand Canyon (had a really bad experience before at same price in LA... this fixed it all) +they have twinings(c) teas for breakfast, how brilliant is that!!
Review 38:There is so much love at this place! The gardens are gorgeous, there are happy chirping birds. The beds were super comfy. I'm not sure I need to visit downtown. I could just chill on the grounds. The cost is reasonable and the rooms are funky in a good way!
Review 39:Easy to get to and with restaurants/gas stations very close by. Staff welcoming and even rang us to check everything in room ok. Room clean and comfortable.
Review 40:Noisy neighbors! Sometimes a problem with standard motel configuration (i.e. windows next to the door) impinges on one's privacy and peace --especially when there's a rowdy group next door, screaming at each other in the wee hours.
Review 41:Staff was very friendly and room was well cared-for, though pretty basic. Had planned on using the jacuzzi (I think they have one) but whole pool area was closed due to a freak storm.
Review 44:Road and train noise
Review 45:Easy friendly check -in Roomy room Good facilities Pool and outdoor area Parking Cleanliness Location Walk to a nice restaurant
Review 46:Room had strong smoke odor. They did their best to clean when we complained but didn't help much.
Review 47:Good value and staff provide better service than younger expect at this price.
Review 48:There was nothing wrong with the motel only there are no groceries around.
Review 49:the room was huge and so was the bed and the mattress was very comfortable. The location of the motel is very convenient. Coffee/tea making facilities are available.
Review 50:The internet was horribly slow when it worked and most of the two days I stayed there is didn't work.
Review 51:The room was clean, the staff was helpful and friendly.
Review 52:Quite helpful staff, good room, would have appreciated a 2nd (flat) pillow. Hot tub not working, but the receptionist insisted that we could go just down the road to another hotels facilities. It was all fine, but nothing really exceptionel, just a good basic motel
Review 53:There was a bug on the wall but I expected it due to what the previous raters stated. It didn't bother me though.
Review 54:The facilities were up to modern times even though it is located in an out of no where town. Was surprised the facilities were not as bad as what the other raters noted. Just don't have high expectations.
Review 55:Pool is quite chilly. Hair drier in our first room was difficult to turn on. It seemed to be a loose connection to the wall socket.
Review 56:Very comfortable bed. We asked for a second floor room and got it on both days we stayed so it was quiet.
Review 57:Wi-Fi was a bit slow but not the end of the world... First world problem :)
Review 58:Excellent helpful staff at check in. We received a phone call in our room around 20 minutes after arriving to see if everything was okay. Nice touch some of the big chains could learn from this customer service. Don't let location put you off, had a great night sleep and only just off interstate literally 45 seconds and your on the road again. Recommend Juicy river restaurant just next door plus you get 10% discount..
Review 59:Everything!! Staff at the front desk was retarded. Her excuse of me not having extra towels was because I didn't answer my phone, they didn't even bother knocking on the door!! Smaller horrible, the bed was dirty, the plummer was discusting. Everything was horrible. Drunk men everywhere!! If ur a female w kids RUN
Review 60:The only thing I liked was the fact that it had a lock
Review 61:Definitely a cut above the typical Needles hotel. Woman at desk was incredibly nice and patient, as well as competent. I watched her deal with a number of troublesome clients and she was always cheery and very quick to solve problems.
Review 62:The bed was soft and left me with an aching back. My son didn't notice any problem with his bed. Could have used an extra blanket in the room. Couldn't seem to turn off the heat lamp over the toilet. It came on with the light and we couldn't turn it off though it was about 100 degrees in there already when we arrived and took a long time to cool down since it was all the way across the room from the air conditioner.
Review 63:Everything in room looked and smelled brand new. Freshly painted room was nice and quiet even though it was close to the freeway. Staff was friendly and called to check that everything was OK. Great value for the price paid. Easy access to/from the freeway and fun Wagon Wheel restaurant across the way.
Review 64:Just a super little place to stay. Felt safe, clean, wonderful staff. I have no reservations about recommending this place for travel or extended stay.
Review 65:Well located just off the Interstate, the staff were very welcoming and informative. The room was exceptionally large and reasonably furnished and clean. For the modest price it was excellent value.
Review 66:Our two queen-bed room was spacious and very comfortable, with a functional quick-use kitchen set up. Nice pool, hot tub and sauna, with a gas BBQ and eating area. The motel was situated away from the freeway and railway lines, so it was quiet. The staff was wonderful. Several dining options were within easy walking distance.
Review 67:WiFi was a little slow.
Review 68:This is a clean comfortable place to stay as you travel I-40. The staff is very friendly and the room is comfortable and clean. Great value.
Review 69:We were greeted at an open front door and made to feel immediately welcome. After driving all day in the rain, this touch was a special one. The front desk staff were delightful and called to make sure everything was okay once we were in our room - a first for us in all our travels. The room was immaculately clean and well appointed. Rio Del Sol has a relationship with a restaurant called Juicey's. It's very good and patrons receive a sizeable discount. We can highly recommend Rio Del Sol.
Review 70:No problems, they even held my pillow for me when I left it in the room, so I could pick it up on my return trip.
Review 71:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room looked and smelled so clean and fresh. The bed was very comfortable. I travel with my own pillow. Unlimited coffee and tea is nice too.
Review 72:I would appreciate, anywhere I go, having a TV guide so that I don't have to scroll through stations endlessly.
Review 73:We had all the comforts we wanted; I admired their eco-friendliness. The staff was kind.
Review 74:The room had a funk to it. It smelled like they were trying to conver something up even though it was a non-smoking room
Review 75:Convenient location, clean, and comfortable.
Review 76:Convenience of location is tops, Staff professional & knowledgeable on restaurant choices! Room had micro & frig. That was wonderful. Could use a bit of updating carpet & furniture.
Review 77:The bathtub was a bit worn but clean.
Review 78:The staff was very friendly and we loved being able to have our dog along for the weekend. It's also conveniently located close to food (Juicy's is delicious!).
Review 79:Scratchy towels that smell of the laundry disinfectant. Terrible TV. Slow wi-fi. Typical motel with cars parked 3 feet from door - hear the trucks arrive and depart early in the morning. Hear the trains roar by. Breakfast is a voucher for a local cafe.
Review 80:Maybe nicer sheets or towels....but that is probably how they keep the price so good!
Review 81:The people were very nice. We got there and were having issues with our Dollar rent a car. We had to drive back to Vegas to exchange it. We were hiking in Mojave and Needles was the best place to stay that we found. When we got there the Hot Tub was not open. I did explain that it was a major reason will we picked them. They had it open the next day. It is a very nice Hot Tub. The room was clean and comfortable. It was cleaned and refreshed every day. The parking lot was even very clean!
Review 82:Room is spacious clean and comfortable. The front desk phones to follow up after checkin to make sure you are satisfied, a good indication of owner interest. Right next door to an excellent country style restaurant.
Review 83:Nothing.
Review 84:Everything, great location, almost next door to a good restaurant, Juicy, great pool open all year, terrific room, comfy beds, the only reception to cal, upon our arrival and check if all was ok. Thats based on driving the whole of route 66.
Review 85:Every thing good for one night stay.
Review 86:Excellent facility in a not so good town. Space was good, clean and comfortable. Wifi excellent. Pool refreshing on a hot day.
Review 87:Nothing of note other than the carpet is overdue for replacement
Review 88:Friendly helpful welcome, comfy bed and decent batroom. Housekeeing staff keenly offered to carry luggage down tge stairs.
Review 89:Non smoking room smelled of smoke. Receptionist came straight away, agreed and had us in another room in minutes. Excellent customer relations. Large room with two comfortable queen beds. Location perfect as stopover and starting point on route 66 eastwarts.
Review 90:Traffic noise Rude check in and check out staff Poor wifi Dated bathrooms Poor location for central Sante Fe No facilities Breakfast staff looking for tips
Review 91:Clean room
Review 92:We were very comfortable. Staff was friendly & helpful. The room was very clean, the beds comfortable & it was quiet. Saved $40 by booking on line & they had our reservation instantly.
Review 93:The carpet is dated/old and the bathroom floor had not been mopped. It was sticky.
Review 94:The exterior of the Rio is great as is the service. The air conditioner was great.
Review 95:Sadly our non-smoking rooms were terribly smokey! We have stayed here before and they were not this bad. Kept us from sleeping very well.
Review 96:Size of rooms, pool
Review 97:It's right by the I-40 exit, but quiet enough, with clean and comfortable rooms. They don't have "breakfast" but you can get a really good one at Juicy's just around the corner.
Review 98:The refrigerator did not work and the "non-smoking room" smelled very much of cigarette smoke. I reported these to the front desk in the morning.
Review 99:The room was clean and comfortable as usual, and it was quieter than a lot of motels.
Review 100:The jaccuzi was not hot enough! I was VERY disappointed that Candice was no longer there! My whole ski club and I will be staying somewhere else from now on!
Review 101:We needed somewhere to stay between Joshua Tree and the Grand Canyon and Rio del Sol fit the bill. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the cooling a relief given the very high temperatures outside. We also enjoyed a dip in the pool. Recommended!
Review 102:wi-fi was a bit unreliable
Review 103:spacious rooms with a very relaxed, almost Mexican vibe. Some nearby places to eat and drink made this a great stop-off point.
Review 104:Not a lot of information about locale. Only a few restaurants nearby but we did enjoy Juicy's Cafe. We drove 2 exits to find breakfast at McDonald's. You guys are bit isolated.
Review 105:Staff is very helpful. Came immediately to fix our remote for the TV. We used the jacuzzi and the pool was nice. We had to sign out towels which was a bit unusual but I guess you have to do it.
Review 106:The room was very clean and the staff was extremely helpful!!! It's located on Route 66. Fast food, restaurants, and a gas station/mini-market are within walking distance. We were traveling on to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ and the gentleman at the desk gave us great travel advice about Flagstaff. I really recommend this hotel!
Review 107:Truck back-up alarm going off at 3:30 a.m. in the parking lot and our online booking meant we were on our own for breakfast.
Review 108:It was cool and comfortable, and when our non-smoking room smelt of smoke, they were happy to move us to one that didn't. Carl's Jr. across the street had great biscuit & egg breakfast.
Review 109:I'm a road-trip traveler, so this place met my needs -- a sense of cleanliness when I walked in, a fridge, free coffee, comfortable bed. Needles is along Historic Route 66, which was built along the Santa Fe line in areas along the Rte, and Needles is one of those places where there are train tracks nearby. Perhaps it was the direction my room was facing, but I was pleased that I wasn't woken up by trains during the night.
Review 110:The unbecoming room deodorizer which left the room smelling really bad. It smelled like smoke but the room was non-smoking. People drinking in pool area; smell of marijuana in the air; and the security guard on the premises.
Review 111:Location was easy on/off. Staff was accommodating.
Review 112:We were non-smokers, but had to stay in a smoking room due to sold-out status of hotel. It was almost unbearable staying in that room - the smoke smell was overwhelming.
Review 113:We liked the dispensers with lotion, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash...very cool. The staff was pleasant.
Review 114:Needles was experiencing a very hot day. This was the last town on our Route 66 drive before returning rental car. Very efficient air conditioner most welcome. It was an oasis in the desert for us. Easy access to highway. All facilities nearby. Parking right at the door.
Review 115:Very quiet. Right off hi way. Very clean and comfortable. Good staff.
Review 116:No free breakfast
Review 117:Proximity of an excellent restaurant for dinner and breakfast recommended by the motel
Review 118:Great value. A good, clean room. The night staff was very friendly.
Review 119:Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Near an excellent restaurant.
Review 120:Everything
Review 121:Old outdated **it hole. Since this place had the highest rating in Needles I thought we would give it a try.
