Reviews for Gatlinburg Inn

Review 1:Historic hotel, walking distance from all Gatlinburg attractions. Staff was friendly. Enjoyed having hot chocolate in the evening while watching the crowds. Old photos displayed on ground floor walls were interesting.

Review 2:Every morning around 4:30, a truck would come and empty the trash dumpsters next door. It was very loud and lasted about 15 minutes. I understand it's not their fault, but it got a little over the top. There are very few power outlets in the room. I think our room had 4 total outlets, but 2 were reserved for the coffee pot and tv.

Review 3:Love the history of the hotel. The location was perfect, right in the heart of Gatlinburg. We were able to leave the car at the hotel for everything done in town.

Review 4:You can hear guests from upstairs and next to your room , very unpleasant experience. Bathtub is ugly and stained. Did not like the old house smell.

Review 5:location and a private balcony

Review 6:This was no frills, but clean and comfortable and really friendly staff. The sausage links at morning breakfast were great. The location (in the middle of Gatlinburg parkway) was perfect for walking around. The proximity to the Aquarium (which is outstanding) was a real plus too. The importance of being able to walk around (rather than drive) should not be underestimated in Gatlinburg!

Review 7:The housekeeping staff walked in on my parents twice after knocking but not announcing themselves before entering. I work for a major hotel company and I know that that is very unacceptable. Housekeeping 101.

Review 8:Our room was too hot. I understand that a new heating and air system is about to be installed. We plan to stay there again.

Review 9:We loved the atmosphere! We liked the lodge feel of being able to sit and visit with other guest. We really like the hot continental breakfast.

Review 10:The Staff was helpful and friendly. The room was Spotlessly clean and charming, loved the Organic toiletries. Full breakfast was provided, with 24/7 coffee.

Review 11:Hotel had a musty smell, but it is an older building. Really didn't bother me too much.

Review 12:Staff was excellent. Location could not be better! Bathroom was recently remodeled and was very nice. Porch was wonderful for a sit in the morning or evening.

Review 13:Downtown traffic and all the walkers make it difficult to enter and depart the property.

Review 14:Great location! Great view of surrounding mountains! Wonderful staff especially Mr. Bunny and Ms. Melissa.

Review 15:The room was very warm with no air conditioning in late November. First night we slept with our window open but were awaken by the street sweeper and what sounded like trash pick up in the middle of the night. When it became more quiet outside, we heard our neighbor snoring through the walls of our room. However, before the second night, we obtained a fan from the front desk and were able to shut our window. The white noise of the fan replaced any sound from other rooms and we slept much better.

Review 16:The staff was wonderful. Loved the rocking chairs on our balconies (corner room had 2). The front porch with the lit gas fireplace was a relaxing place from which to sit and watch the crowds. Didn't use the front parlor but loved that it was there. Loved the general coziness of the Inn. The bed linens were new and comfortable. We enjoyed the view from our third floor room. Coffee was fresh and available all day.

Review 17:The only complaint would be that you are not allowed to smoke on the balconies. I can understand not being able to smoke in the room, but outside on the balcony should be ok, Also, you have to sign a paper that states that your room can be inspected twice a day.....that is a little much to me unless it is requested by the customer.

Review 18:Location was perfect and the hot breakfast in the mornings was excellent.

Review 19:I did not have a bad experience.

Review 20:Loved the outside fireplace and rockers on front porch. The two ladies in the breakfast room we're extremely pleasant and did an excellent job keeping breakfast fresh. Also the fresh donuts and apple cider just put the topping on the cake for our visit!!

Review 21:Couldn't adjust temperature well in room. Walls were very thin (could hear someone snoring next door), floor very creaky and thin also. Carpet old and dirty...

Review 22:Location was perfect, could walk to all of the downtown Gatlinburg spots! Staff was very nice. Had personal balcony with rocking chairs

Review 23:Our room was very warm there was no way to lower the temp, except for opening the balcony door.

Review 24:The rocking chairs right in front of a beautiful gas log fire, was the hi-light of the inn.

Review 25:The history of the inn, learning that the song Rocky Top was written there was very cool. The location was excellent, we could walk and shop and got to many great places to eat easy peasy

Review 26:Quite an old building so if your staying on bottom floor there us quite a bit of noise from rooms above.

Review 27:Fantastic location, great staff and breakfast was good.

Review 28:Bathroom a bit small. Parking was very limited.

Review 29:Convenience to downtown stores. Beautiful lounging area inside and outside. The breakfast was better than most motels.

Review 30:Great location, close to shopping and restaurants, can walk to anything in the downtown area. The historic inn is charming, they have made many changes to update.

Review 31:The Historic Gatlinburg Inn truly lives up to it's name. It almost feels out of place right in the middle of town. I felt like I was walking in to an old luxury hotel, which is basically what it is. The rooms were very nice and updated. 'Old school charming' is how I would summarize it. It's right in the middle of everything when you decide to walk around town, but just hanging out on the large porch, in the guest areas, or your room's private balcony is a relaxing option as well. BTW, the staff is super friendly. Nice folks! My wife and I can't wait to stay here again!

Review 32:We had a VERY bad experience, that was made right by the night mgmt. For that we are very thankful

Review 33:Location is excellent, nice to be able to park downtown Gatlinburg and be convenient to all w/o paying extra to park

Review 34:Beautiful, historic Inn. Even though it was old, it was very well kept and VERY clean. The staff was very friendly. We will definately stay there again!

Review 35:We loved our stay! The hotel atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and we loved the complimentary coffee and doughnuts served throughout the day. The location is perfect.

Review 36:No smoking on the balcony! A bit pricey for the 1970's dated ambiance.

Review 37:Felt like we were visiting Grandma's house! Clean, well kept, comfortable, but very dated. The location is the best you could ask for! Everything was walking distance as it is located right in the middle of the main strip.

Review 38:The rooms are what you expect for a motel built in the 50s. Clean but for privacy the walls are thin you can hear everything going on.

Review 39:Location to Gatlinburg is great, right downtown.

Review 40:$150.00 per night solo is kinder steep. Not sure next years rate isn't going to raise.

Review 41:Having stayed at this hotel since 1950 off & on it's always great to see old friends

Review 42:Staff was pleasant and helpful. Place was very clean. Enjoyed sitting on the porch in the rockers. Parking was convenient for shopping. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was great!

Review 43:This is our 4th time to stay here in 1 1/2 years. We love that it is close to everything in Gatlinburg, close to the entrance of the Great Smokey Mountains, great staff, never had a problem with the room, comfortable beds, good breakfast, and gas fireplaces - what more could you need or want !!!

Review 44:The location was great right in the middle. The hotel was clean nice unique. Loved the porch. Was able to take 2 and 4 yr old out for hours to play then just walked across the street for a snack! Can't wait to go back

Review 45:The bed was just not comfortable and lots of sounds from up stairs and no fan in bathroom. The shower and bathtub was nasty and the shower head did not put out much water at all.

Review 46:Location was great!!!

Review 47:The walls are paper thin...I will just leave with that comment.

Review 48:I loved the charm and history of this Inn. The rooms have everything you need and are very clean. Staff was very pleasant and easy to work with.

Review 49:An awning in front would be nice so we didn't have to load or unload the car in the rain.

Review 50:I loved the ambiance of this charming Inn. It's location was perfect. Breakfast every morning was just right. The fireplace at the main entrance was an nice touch. Made it feel very welcoming.

Review 51:Clean & very friendly from front desk to breakfast staff to housekeeping staff during entire stay. Like stepping back to old country inn in the mountains- right in the middle of Gatlinburg - modern conveniences & parking.

Review 52:The location is the best in town. We enjoyed the breakfast so much, not your typical skimpy fare but a full breakfast consisting of fresh do it yourself waffles, eggs, sausage, bagels and pancakes.. Muffins and always present krispy kreme donuts. Everyone was super friendly, helpful and accommodating! We will always stay here if occupancy allows! Fabulous value and the front porch is amazing!

Review 53:Bathrooms were tiny, but it's a very old hotel. Could be updated while keeping charm of historical value. Thin walls, could hear anything going on outside of room.

Review 54:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included with room was great. Very clean rooms. The history of the hotel was neat. I liked the various seating areas in the lobby, parlor and on the porch. Nice to sit and talk with people from all over the country and world staying for the week. The hotel is in the middle of Gatlinburg so you can park your car and walk to almost anywhere you want to go.

Review 55:The room was very outdated. The bed was uncomfortable.

Review 56:The location was convenient to the activities that we wanted to do. The free breakfast was good.

Review 57:Everyone was very friendly. It was close to our conference at the Convention Center. We have always enjoyed being in the middle of all and not having to get our car out to go, unless we wanted to. THANKS

Review 58:There wasn't a single thing I would change.

Review 59:Wonderful , nostalgic accommodation in the heart of Gatlinburg . After this visit I am a customer for life!

Review 60:Not enough parking for guests. Room was over the du,Peter. Room was so small, two people could not move at same time. Almost no electrical outlets. One desk clerk gave us wrong information which resulted in loss of 2.5 hrs of lost time.

Review 61:One desk clerk was helpful.

Review 62:the only thing we found wrong and it wasn't that bad was you could hear people outside the room or next door. Not noisy just afraid our TV might be disturbing someone else.

Review 63:Friendly, helpful staff, location walking distance to everything on the main strip, good breakfast, cleanliness was excellent, will definitely stay here again.

Review 64:I love being in downtown Gatlingburg. We were able to walk every where we wanted to go and just a few steps from all the resturants. The Inn was great!!!

Review 65:We liked the personal atmosphere. It is not just another standard hotel, the kind where you can't tell one from another. This hotel has its own personality. Enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch

Review 66:Our room smelled extremely musty, as did the halls but the room was worse. I know the hotel was built around 1930 but there is still no excuse for the smell. WIFI signal was very weak.

Review 67:This is a perfect location if you want to stay in town and don't mind the crowds. I love the front porch with rockers so you can enjoy the crowds from a distance.

Review 68:I should have reserved a better room, king bed and a room with a better view. I will know better next time. I do plan to return.

Review 69:Historical hotel very well maintained.

Review 70:Dated. Was shocked when the elevator door opened to the 2nd floor. Needs a make over.

Review 71:Friendly staff. Location. History of the Inn. At check-out, talked to one of the owners. Found him to be very nice.

Review 72:It smelled very bad. Had an upset stomach all night due to smell. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the staff was ok but not over friendly or accommodating, it was priced about $80 a night too high and we will never stay there again, would rather sleep in my car.

Review 73:The history behind the hotel. The old things about it . The fact that it's the oldest thing left in gatlingburg and hopefully still owned by Americans. The town is ruined by letting foreigners buy up the town.

Review 74:Being right on the strip and the tight parking lot makes it a pain to drive to and from the hotel.

Review 75:Very good location for walking in Gatlinburg. Nostalgic atmosphere is really cool. Breakfast is first rate!

Review 76:There was no Microwave or mini fridge in the room, the parking was an issue, and the AC in the rooms were not as cold as we are used the units was shared by the whole complex no individual AC, my advise would be to take out the make up stands and Microwaves and Mini fridge in all the rooms. And more power outlets.

Review 77:Location, food, staff was outstanding, management was great, met one of the owners he was a great guy. Pool was great.

Review 78:Although the building is historic, this appeared to be an excuse to let the fabric of the interior deteriorate. Our overhead lights in the bedroom were fluorescent bulbs...not very historic, and not pleasant.

Review 79:Proximity to Smoky Mountains, although was a shock to discover Gatlinburg is like Blackpool Pleasure Beach, without the beach.

Review 80:Very outdated place, dirty and smelly..nothing has been improved since it was originally build in the 1930s apparently..I would never stay there again, we only accepted the room because everything else was booked in town..to say this was a "disappointment" would be a huge understatement..

Review 81:The parking lot area

Review 82:The common areas (ie., hallways, elevators, etc.) were a bit warmer than we would have preferred. However, we went in the middle of summer when temperatures can easily reach over 100 not counting how hot the humidity can make it feel so that may have been the reason behind this. Our room, on the other hand, stayed nice and cool.

Review 83:My husband and I (22 and 28, respectively) love this hotel! It's now our go-to spot when we're in town. It has a very vintage vibe that reminded me of the Titanic. Can't wait to stay again!

Review 84:Bed was squeaky. Stayed on third floor and the interior hallway was being painted. Drop cloths, painters, and paint odor. We not told before checking in. No desk or place to set laptop.

Review 85:Breakfast, location and pool

Review 86:the parking was really tight, and i saw a couple of people come off the street and use the already limited spots.

Review 87:i really like the location. it was convenient to everything we did during our stay.

Review 88:Not much that I didn't like but if I have to say something the bathroom walls could need new wallpaper in our room it was peeling off.

Review 89:This place had many likes friendly staff, close to everything on the strip, comfortable, willing to work with you if you had a problem and free breakfast.

Review 90:There isn't anything that I did not like. Maybe the worst thing is they didn't have hairdryers but that's not a big deal to me.

Review 91:The free Breakfast was awesome. Biscuits and gravy etc. It is in a great location. You can walk to anywhere in Gatlinburg. This is an old place with a lot of history but modern and comfortable.

Review 92:Well, the first night a young family with what sounded like several children running about and screaming occupied the room above us. The following night some youg sdults were enjoying a small party. We tend to retire early, so we did not feel the need to complain.

Review 93:I liked the history of the Inn, and the proud display of it in pictures and stories. I enjoyed sitting on the porch with other guests and chatting. The visiting musicians were a treat to listen to. It was great !

Review 94:Beds were not comfortable. There were only a couple of outlet. One was in the bathroom and didn't work of the light was off. Water pressure in the shower was terrible. Towels were paper thin. The lock is an old style key lock opened with an actual key....do they rekey each night? I get the old style look but many improvements are needed. We wouldn't stay there again.

Review 95:All employees were very friendly and helpful. Reasonable price. Located in the middle of downtown

Review 96:Needs updating very badly. Old carpeting, old panelling, old furniture, pipes showing in the ceiling, old bathrooms. Even beautiful old buildings deserve updating to keep them beautiful.

Review 97:The location, parking and staff were great.

Review 98:Water pressure was not the best but it got the job done. Could use a few more outlets in the room as well.

Review 99:The breakfast was good. The staff we're very friendly. If you are looking for a vintage atmosphere this is the place! We enjoyed our stay.

Review 100:The only problem is there is very little insolation so you can hear people all around your room.

Review 101:Our stay at the Inn was very pleasurable as far as amenities. The Inn is old but very well maintained. The location is good.

Review 102:Nothing that we didn't like! If you're looking for a modern top of the line hotel, this isn't it. Its style is kept in its original form. Very clean and well maintained though!

Review 103:The location to the main strip was perfect! It was right in the heart of Gatlinburg! We wanted to stay somewhere where we could walk to it all, and this was it! Breakfast was great!!

Review 104:everyone was so nice, we arrived early and they made a special effort to get the room ready for us. the pool was refreshing since it was 90 degrees outside.

Review 105:Enjoyed staying in an historic building. Especially all the pictures dating back over the history of the inn. Staff was very friendly and willing to assist on any request. Loved the inn and can't wait to go back.

Review 106:it did not have a refrigerator in the room

Review 107:How friendly and helpful the staff was,the price is very reasonable,it is very clean and the location is great.

Review 108:The Inn is very quaint and we loved the historic charm. Very clean, spotless in fact. The bed was very comfortable, location is excellent. I was able to run down the street to the beginning of a nature trail for my daily run, and it's right in the center of the action in Gatlinburg.

Review 109:This Inn is the best place I have stayed, in the area, in years. My friends and I do a girl trip every years. This comfortable old Inn, circa 1937, was the experience I had hoped it would be. Clean, Elegant, Friendly and within distance of whatever we wanted to do. The staff is top notch, the breakfast was a good selection.

Review 110:Wonderful historic inn located in the heart of Gatlinburg. Exceptional customer service, comfortable, clean, and spacious room. Even though this property was right in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg, it was very quiet and peaceful. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 111:The walls are too thin! We could heard our neighbors on the phone & talking to each other plainly.

Review 112:I loved the friendly environment the best, these days that is hard to find.

Review 113:Breakfast and coffee were totally average and nothing to really mention.

Review 114:We stayed here on Memorial Day weekend and I was unaware of how busy gatlinburg would be. I really enjoyed the peace, old fashioned charm and our lovely light filled king bed room.

Review 115:We can not think of anything that we did not like. And we do have high expectations of our accommodations.

Review 116:The whole is the sum of all its parts. We liked the whole. Friendly staff, efficient housekeeping, breakfast choices, quietness, price and grandma's house atmosphere.

Review 117:Great location to relax and people watch. Also all attractions are very close by. Good breakfast provided daily. Coffee available 24/7. Staff was awesome letting us view two rooms and choosing our favorite, exactly what we wanted. No refrigerator in room, but they let us use one in a parlor next door to store husband's insulin. Not modern, but great ambiance. Definitely a value for a four night stay.

Review 118:everything was great

Review 119:very nice staff, love the old time walls and rocking chairs on the front porch. like being at Pa Paws house in the country when we were kids. we love it and will be back to this Inn. good breakfast. best hotel in Gatlinburg. also right next to the sky lift.

Review 120:Rooms are comfortable but need up dating. Heat had been turned off so it was uncomfortable at night. It's nothing special but then nothing in Gatlinburg is.

Review 121:Staff was great. Place is kept clean.

Review 122:Our entire stay was so wonderful. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. The Inn held it's 'traditional style' from the 1930's.

Review 123:The halls were darkly lit and once away from the front desk the building smelled as if the carpets had not been replaced in years. We immediately asked for our money back and left. The entire facility needs to be renovated. The 8.6 rating is totally misleading.
