Reviews for The Lodge at Buckberry Creek

Review 1:Joe and Andrew provided excellent customer service. The property was super nice. We had the tasting menu at night which was delicious. Nice breakfast included in room rate. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 2:Sheets were noisy (crackley)

Review 3:Rooms clean, quite, beautiful view, nice staff, great breakfasts, We were celebrating our 27th anniversary and the hotel staff worked with me to have roses in the room when we arrived. The roses were better quality that any that I've ever bought at a florist.

Review 4:Inn guests do not have preference for dining room reservations. At check-in we were told there was no room. Finally due to owner/manager's intervention we got seating. I left behind an expensive blouse which they claimed they never found. Not all rooms are comparable re view and updating but the price edema to be the same.

Review 5:It was away from the honky tonk of Gatlinburg downtown.

Review 6:I had no objections to anything.

Review 7:Everything at Buckberry Lodge was first rate. I've never had such a personable staff sincerely interested in making your stay perfect in every way. I will definitely return

Review 8:The room was not as depicted in the advertising and we were disappointed with this as it's not cheap. I complained and asked to be moved but weren't. They blame booking.com for using the wrong photos?

Review 9:The location and views were stunning.

Review 10:Bed was a bit too soft for my husband.

Review 11:A characterful, well-maintained and spacious 'suite with kitchen' in a beautiful, quiet setting with stunning views. Service, food and location were excellent. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.

Review 12:The restaurant dinner menu is too limited.

Review 13:We loved our room and Ellie at the front desk. Other front desk clerks were not nearly as friendly or helpful as Ellie. Breakfast was very good and scones were scrumptious.

Review 14:Room a little worn. Draperies in living area not working.

Review 15:Excellent breakfast buffet. Excellent restaurant. Excellent staff. Beautiful views. Convenient to Gatlingburg.

Review 16:To get the views it takes driving up a windy road. Fine in daylight but a little scary in dark.

Review 17:Great customer service. Made you feel like family. Great views from restaurant and room.

Review 18:Overall a great break although "fine dining" seemed a bit overhyped. Much better than most local restaurants but , the views and location were better than the service.

Review 19:Good location outside of town, great views and a "mountain retreat" ambiance. Nice, comfortable and well equipped rooms in a more rustic style

Review 20:the winding mountain road to access this property

Review 21:The view was awesome. The staff provided impeccable and friendly service, and the accommodations far exceeded our expectations.

Review 22:If I had to dig up one thing I didn't like, I guess it was the dinner at the restaurant. I just think they could serve a more simple menu and still be considered a high end restaurant. The rooms can be loud if you have an inconsiderate guest above you.

Review 23:The location is fantastic! The atmosphere is wonderful and the entire staff are very friendly. Expecially, Kyle who went out of his way to make sure we had a great stay. Don't forget about THE VIEW is incredible (in most of the rooms)

Review 24:our room was close to the road so it was a little noisy sitting outside. Our balcony was also right next to all the AC units so that was a little noisy as well.

Review 25:beautiful scenery, very nice room with fireplace and private balcony

Review 26:When we entered our room first and during return trips the room had a musky smell. A closed up for a while smell. Went to Kroger to purchase candles and air freshener

Review 27:The friendly staff always speaking and asking if they could help in way. The breakfast both hot and cold were very good. Well prepared. Good choices friendly breakfast staff Always willing to help

Review 28:Dinner good, a little pricey, quality, quantity, and flavor a little short of excellent.

Review 29:Breakfast excellent. Enjoyed the suite accomadations Quiet and very peaceful. Bread very good, biscuits excellent. Owners very nice and caring. Special effort to make your stay enjoyable.

Review 30:There were 2 mugs in the room, one of which was used prior to our arrival and was not washed. The bed was awful, worse mattress I've ever slept on where I've paid that much money to stay.

Review 31:Booking.com dropped the ball on my reservation. Apparently although I booked on May 21 for an August stay, the lodge didn't have my reservation because booking.com never notified them. They were super sweet and were able to accommodate me even though they were pretty much booked. If you book with booking.com, just make sure your reservation actually is confirmed with the lodge itself!

Review 32:Staff was amazing! View was breathtaking and they respect your privacy and help you in every way they can.

Review 33:The hotel is not making enough of itself. It's good but could be amazing. Restaurant food is excellent but dining area depressing and there could be a fabulous bar area but just a sitting area that serves no purpose. Staff are very sweet but you feel there is no real management at the hotel that's driving it forward. They could be marketing the amazing activities in the area but you have to ask and coach. We are adventure travelers and so know how to organize ourselves but others may not and miss out. Also the hotel are losing big opportunities to maximize revenues in so many areas. If they got this right they could charge a lot more as its a stand out hotel but operating on cruise control. We would recommend and go back though

Review 34:Fabulous location with stunning views from the room. Cabins very cozy and nice. By far the nicest hotel in the area

Review 35:Setting and view was absolutely breathtaking. Our first time in the Smoky Mountains and we didn't want to leave. The Lodge at Buckberry Creek made the trip even better. Breakfast was phenomenal. Staff was terrific. Recommended the best rafting and zip lining companies. Gave us great guide to Cades Cove. 2 fantastic dinners at the Lodge. And 2 nights of Smores courtesy of the staff. Can't wait to go back.

Review 36:Our room was on the bottom, very similar to like being in the basement, dark. Views were not that good. Housekeeping came very late in the afternoon, which was disruptive. Restaurant prices were outrageous for the food you got, same for wine prices.

Review 37:We liked the location, away from the craziness of the towns. The breakfast was nice on the deck. Could have used cutup fruit, etc. But was well prepared and generous.

Review 38:After driving 10 hours with your children I was advised that the room I selected would not fit my family and they only had a room for one night. The room I selected had a kind and a pull out. I requested a pack and play. So they knew we were 5. I understand that it may not fit but they did not offer to help me find something else or recommend something else for me. I was with 3 small children 10 hours from home

Review 39:Great location.

Review 40:Showed up to a hot room. Requested another room, was informed that they were sold out. Attempted to fix AC, but attempt failed. Requested another room again and was informed that one had just been cleaned. Moved us to another room. :)

Review 41:Nice facilities

Review 42:Breakfast was just ok...would have liked a pancake or waffle option that you didn't have to pay for. Kids need to be put in rooms on the bottom floor cause we had a second floor room with kids above us who ran back and forth constantly.

Review 43:Location, room was beautiful and cheap, friendly staff

Review 44:On our first night we dined at the fine dining restaurant located on the property. Awful! Everything was dry and cold. The prices were very high so we expected better. Also the attendant did not walk us to our room. For these prices someone should have escorted us. Instead she simply pointed down the hill.

Review 45:Wonderful accommodations. Beautiful scenery! Pristine clean!

Review 46:The walls are thin/easy to hear neighbors and children jumping on beds! Sound machine can handle this problem. The kitchen is stocked so you don't have to run down the mountain for every meal.

Review 47:Everything was amazing. The room was spacious, the staff helpful, the location unbeatable. The properties walking paths and stream with connected facilities was amazing.

Review 48:The kitchen was closed the first night making it impossible for reservations the second night. We bought food and ate in both nights. The nearbytown of Gatlinburg is crazy busy and too much traffic.

Review 49:The room is like a small condo. At night the staff will light bon fires so you can feel as if you are camping.

Review 50:The hotel kitchen is being refurbished and consequently the food was not as good as it might have been in our opinion. However the staff are trying their best and the owner Buddy was very fair with us when we mentioned our experience at dinner

Review 51:Location is stunning and facilities are great- no hesitation in recommending this top class hotel

Review 52:overpriced, nothing near by walking distance, not enough variety in breakfast

Review 53:very neat and clean, wonderful staff, fire place, full kitchenette equipments

Review 54:Was not really a negative but a oversight. The breakfast was suppose to go until 11am but because of Easter Sunday it was closed at 10. I wish we had known that when we checked in. The staff did say they would reimburse us for breakfast anywhere in town but we felt it was an honest over site they tried to make right.

Review 55:We really enjoyed the Lodge. The room was beautiful with a great view and a fire place. The shower was large enough for two people as was the jet tub. The staff was friendly and helpful. We loved it and talked about returning.

Review 56:Our room wasnt as kept as we expected. Broken shower faucet, missing balcony chair and missing a blow dryer in our room.

Review 57:Friendly service, yummy breakfast, beautiful view.

Review 58:The view, the room, the staff, the food were all wonderful. A great hot breakfast included with the rate. We had an outstanding chef prepared 5 course dinner on the 2nd evening on the balcony of the restaurant as the sun set casting an orange glow on the mountains while a gas burning "wood stove" kept us quite comfortable in the cool of the evening.

Review 59:The mattress was very uncomfortable as were the pillows. The couch just sunk when you sat in it... Not comfortable, but it looked nice. The noise above us was ridiculous. There were at least two families with kids above us. Children should be housed on the bottom floor! .... Regardless of how much they pay. One couple left their children behind and went out. We were told that the less you pay, the lower the level was that one was assigned.

Review 60:Breakfast was wonderful! Big bathroom was clean and updated. Kitchen had everything you need.

Review 61:Downtown Gatlinburg reminded me a little too much of "the myrtle beach of the mountains", but The Lodge at Buckberry Creek really made you feel comfortable and away from all of the touristy things. Don't go to Cades Cove by the way. The drive up to Cades Cove is way more beautiful then the actual Cades Cove itself.

Review 62:Loved the location. The views are amazing. The staff was very accommodating and the dinner, although pricey, was well worth it. Very upscale food. Also the breakfast is delicious. You really felt like you were in a secluded cabin for the most part. The finishes throughout the Lodge are very upscale. Would recommend this over ANY OTHER PROPERTY in Gatlinburg.

Review 63:The pics on website were kind of deceiving... The room was very simple. But once we read info in our room we understood the concept, but was still less than we expected. The view from the balcony was obstructed by a big tree and a big dead tree... And there was another door from neighboring room that was off our balcony that made me VERY uncomfortable. And finally was surprised at how easy it was to hear the guests above us...

Review 64:The main lodge was wonderful, and the view from the main lodge was wonderful... breakfast... wonderful. And after a very scary moment at the Pavilion a staff member was there to help us within minutes... for which I will always be grateful !!!

Review 65:Unless you are on the top floor, you can hear the guests moving around their rooms in the rooms above you Building 5 furthest away from the reception have some trees obscuring the view and its close to a road The traffic going in to the smoky mountains national park was very bad - however not the fault of the resort. Would suggest entering the park from Cherokee, North Carolina

Review 66:Location is away from busy Gatlinburg Beautiful view of the mountains Very clean room (including clean hot tub) Kitchen facilities including a cooker, dishwasher and fridge Beautiful maintained pavillion down by the creek Friendly and attentive staff

Review 67:Restaurant selections are very limited and over priced. Parking is a problem. Lines need to be painted or log stoppers need to be adjusted to keep people from taking 3 spaces each. Jacuzzi tub didn't work. We think it was turned off to keep noise down. No place to buy even a snack.

Review 68:Fantastic views Fireplace in room Upper patio overlooking mountains with firepit, rocking chairs, and blankets.

Review 69:...I didn't see any bears ! ...This time ...

Review 70:There is nothing not to like about Buckberry Creek. An Idyllic resort in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. Highly recommended top quality resort

Review 71:There are only a few things we noticed that we weren't huge fans of and that included construction; our building is right next to a lodge that is currently under construction and all their trucks and utility vehicles in the small, tight roads made us feel a little cramped. Also, the maid service comes in the afternoons after the 11am check-in time. Our building was the farthest away so our service didn't happen until 2:30p or 3p every day, which we felt was a little awkward for us; For example, we went on a morning hike and got back around 1:30p - as we were making lunch/getting cleaned up the staff walking in to make our room and we had to ask them to come back the next day, which meant we ran out of essentials like toilet paper. Lastly, our room was below another and we could hear creeks and some movement above us sometimes when the guests above were walking around in their rooms.

Review 72:The Lodge was seriously a sanctuary in a town that can seem so tourist-y. The rooms are beautiful - we walked in with the fire place lit and the amazing view from the patios are breathe taking for us city folks! The entire lodge is so quiet and peaceful. Also, we loved getting a hot breakfast every morning that was included in our room stay; the outdoor patio with light music playing in the background is the best way to start your day in relax mode. We also visited the national park and downtown for a day and found that we were a five minute drive, yet still far enough to be so secluded from the main path. Our suite was very clean and the main facilities were very clean and tidy as well. We loved our stay and will definitely be returning in the future!

Review 73:We wanted to enjoy a drink Sunday evening on their provided deck. Only to find out the town doesn't sell alcohol on Sundays and the bar at the lodge was closed due to them having to give the guy a day off. We also asked for special requests to be fulfilled which never were completed at our arrival. The "free breakfast" was a joke and only included bagels. You have to buy anything else you want. For 215+ a night, you would think you would get a little bit more than what was provided.

Review 74:The view, seclusion and overall look/feel of the place.

Review 75:One of the roads up there was hair-raising at night. Ask for suggested route.

Review 76:Beautiful suite with whirlpool and balcony. Frette linens to soothe and pamper. We had each meal on the deck overlooking the mountains. Could have stayed longer.

Review 77:Hard to find; no signs of how to get there. A simple breakfast compared with our expectations.

Review 78:nice bathroom beautiful view of the mountains quiet location

Review 79:The room had an amazing view. We were on our honeymoon and enjoyed spending time just admiring the mountain range. The room was clean, cozy and spacious. We didn't want to leave! All over the grounds there was a quiet peacefulness. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We know nothing about hiking but decided to give it a try. The staff gave us great directions to the trail that we decided on. There are even trails on the property but we didn't have time to explore them. Breakfast was delicious and the view from the outdoor section of the restaurant was breathtaking! It was the perfect place for us: peaceful, laid back, and gorgeous. We will always cherish the fond memories of the Lodge.

Review 80:The continental breakfast good but not great.

Review 81:The rooms are great size. Loved the jacuzzi tub and slept wonderfully in the bed. The view was amazing! Staff is very friendly!

Review 82:We were there for one night only for our anniversary, the first time we got away since my breast cancer. We paid more than what we could have for a hotel but chose the rustic outdoor attraction of this facility. there was a power outage at 4 in the morning and I woke up to pitch darkness, which freaked me out. We had to get in our vehicle and drive down to the main lobby and the guy working just said "nobody else has power either" No apology! We wound up with no buffet breakfast, no air conditioning, no power to watch tv or listen to radio, no way to blow dry or fix my hair to go out in town. Our food and drinks in the frig were a waste and did not have morning coffee in the room. When we checked out at 11 am ,there was still no power . We had planned to at least sleep in a bit but was up from the crack of dawn because of the power issue. I asked when leaving about a discount in my rate or some compensation and they looked at me like I was crazy. We left very disappointed and had to buy a late breakfast downtown and spend more money. Feel like we wasted over $200 for one night and thought we would e able to even eat our anniversary dinner there that night but the food was outrageous and could not afford it.the room smelled very musty but the view was nice. the jetted tub did not work, it shot water to the ceiling and we had to clean it up. I have lupus and hoped to soak after a long day to be able to relax . All the reasons we booked here were a failure . Money is an issue for us and I feel it was money wasted.

Review 83:Everything was wonderful. Breakfast included in price was limited. For the cost is expect cooked breakfast to be included and not as an extra. Just one member if staff a bit 'above the guests' but everyone else was wonderful especially the ladies on reception

Review 84:The location in the mountains and the views from the balconies are wonderful.

Review 85:Breakfast slightly limited but adequate. Position and quality of TV needs to be changed- we ended up with sore necks!

Review 86:Lovely hotel in great location away from buzz of Gatlinburg. Room was very comfortable with good kitchen facilities so need to venture far. View from balcony was limited & quite close to road so ask for high room. Walk to creek was a very nice way to spend a couple of hours. Glad to see they are in process of adding pool as it would have been nice to cool off.

Review 87:-Trail was closed in the AM

Review 88:-Views -short hike down to a pavilion by the creek where you can relax. -whirlpool in our room with a robe -Room included ice machine, sink, dishwasher, oven and all utensils. -Beautiful decor -Excellent breakfast -Very Clean

Review 89:Our view was limited by the location of the room. Our balcony was smaller than most. The TV in the room was mounted so high that we couldn't watch it comfortably. I've had better continental breakfasts at the Best Western. Their fine dining prices were way too high. They should try to appeal to the guests that aren't wealthy. They told me my card was declined because of an expired date (which it wasn't) so I called my credit card company to find out what was going on. I was told that no charges had been attempted. I called the front desk back and gave them the card info again and it went through fine. Don't know what the problem was but it was annoying. For the price, I expected better. We will stay in a chalet from now on. (And we also saw a bug run under the bed).

Review 90:The bed was very comfortable. I liked the outdoor sitting areas. The view was nice. Housekeeping did a nice job.
