Reviews for Lumiere Place Casino and Hotel
Review 1:Had to have a 50 dollar incidental deposit on a room with a baseball size burn mark in the carpet and a broken door. And unsupervised children were having ice wars. Very unpleasant.
Review 2:The water feature in the atrium was great as was Bob the bartender at Cascades. Very funny.
Review 3:The coffee offered in room was really bad.
Review 4:The Casino and food available for our entertainment and no additional traveling necessary. Also, the staff was very polite to ask us how we were and if we needed anything.
Review 5:The pool area was freezing cold. Water did not work in pool restroom... pool shower water was freezing... come to find out the staff had propped open the doors to the pool area in January! Room service stopped from 11 to 5. Wristband required for the pool. Lost my second day of reservation... staff seemed uninformed or provided incorrect booking procedures.
Review 6:Could be a nice hotel for the money
Review 7:I didn't like the fact that when I was about to lay down I noticed what look like a sex stain on the sheets.... Also in the morning when I was about to makee some coffee the coffee maker was dirty... This did make me unhappy...
Review 8:The staff was very unprofessional, when checking in at the reception desk the lady told us that if we take our key cards to the casino customer service we will receive vouchers for meals, at the casino we were told that they don't do that. Also when checking out we asked the employee at the reception not to charge the card we checked in with and provided a different card, the next day we discovered that both of our accounts we charged, in additional the hotel took the deposit as well, without even mentioning it to us. I had to call the hotel to resolve the issue. The hotel itself is nowhere near 4 stars, the interior looks very dated, the furniture in the room looks old, one of the lamp shades was cracked, the TV wasn't working, we had to call the technician at almost midnight. The shower wasn't working properly, the water was barely warm and half of it was going from the shower head another half from faucet in the tub. And even though we checked in around 6pm on Dec.30, we had to be out of the room by 11am, as the hotel refused to give at least an extra hour for late check-out. I am not sure why this hotel was given 4 stars. It was my second trip to St. Louis for my birthday and our wedding anniversary, and this hotel put really bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 9:location
Review 10:That my 5 month in advanced request was not fulfilled and how the staff did very little to meet my request. Also, there were a group of uncompanies high school kids there running/racing up and down the hallways at 1-2 a.m. Very dangerous for other guests if just walking to get to their room, elevator, ice machine, etc.
Review 11:I liked my room, but it was requested 5 months in advanced for me to have a room with the view of the Arch. I was given a city view instead. My daughter's birthday theme was 'Life is Better in a Tutu at the Arch', which is why I specifically asked for an Arch view. We were disappointed.
Review 12:carpets were stained, bathroom poorly lit, bathroom tub cramped, wife complained of odor in bathroom, tv reception very poor
Review 13:beautiful atrium, location close to destination, anytime checkin, separate sleeping and living area, two large tvs.
Review 14:Left my watch on the couch. Called back immediately after checking out and got no help. Every room at s hotel is cleaned and someone signed off on it. The hotel gave no help in locating my watch. Even after multiple calls
Review 15:Room was clean n check in was easy
Review 16:You can tell that they decided to "spruce up" the place instead of actually renovate it. New fabrics, colors, and lighting don't make up for old beds, carpeted baseboards, and marked up walls. The mini fridge was hotter than leaving your drinks out on a countertop. Not very clean. The air conditioning system is horrible and if I could underline that word I absolutely would. Please see the attached photo for an example of how we all felt when we woke up the next morning. I would not stay here again, many other choices in the area!
Review 17:Location was great, cheap Uber rides to anywhere downtown.
Review 18:I saved 5 rooms all double beds. Cancelled one room ahead of time because not needed. When checking in they didn't have all the rooms for double but we're able to make 3 out of the 4. Kind of disappointed for the 4th room when your expected 2 beds and you get 1 and a pull out for 2 grown men.
Review 19:Everyone was really friendly.
Review 20:Handicap parking is down a hill and across the street!! There is no side entry you must traverse the hill (up a long ramp) to the front of the building. Directly across the street is closer but its not "hotel" parking. There is no valet parking so you're out of luck there. They really didn't think this through!
Review 21:The women who checked me in was very accommodating and gave me free parking to make up for the inconvenience of the awful handicap accessibility.
Review 22:The building is old and smelled musty. Our non-smoking room reeked of old smoke and smelled like it had been closed up for awhile. Lighting in bathroom was poor.
Review 23:Location was great. Easy access to the casino and the Edward Jones Dome
Review 24:One of the TVs and the heat/AC did not work. I didn't realize this until after 11pm but they still sent someone to the room to fix it. It didn't take long to fix, which was nice, but still a small inconvenience.
Review 25:Staff was very friendly and very helpful. The person in front of me was not friendly to them but they kept their cool and were still able to make me laugh while I was checking in. I've stayed here a couple times this year and every time has been great.
Review 26:We drove straight through from Denver to St. Louis, with a 5 and 8 yearold. By the time we arrived in St. Louis, it was 1:30 am in the middleof the night. We were exhausted, to say the least, with 2 very crankyand sleepy children who just needed a bed to sleep in.When we went to check in, we weren't able to because we don't have a credit card, we only have debit cards. We had plenty of money in our bank, even plenty of cash to cover our room stay and deposit, however they wouldn't allow it. We were forced to leave and then to pull over and locate anther hotel within our budget and with the amenities we needed with our 2 young children. And then pull it up our GPS, drive through what looked to be a fairly unsafe part of town to get there, and then go through the check-in/unloading process all over again. By the time we got to our room and got our children into bed at the new hotel it was 2:30/2:45 in the middle of the night. On top of all that, this is NOT a place I'd return to for the sheer lack of customer service. The man we dealt with at the original hotel was extremely rude, not understanding of our situation AT ALL. He was condescending and appeared as though WE were inconveniencing HIM! Very unprofessional and unkind. Not willing to work with us AT ALL. Will never recommend or refer anyone to this hotel, in fact I will only steer people I know away from this hotel and already have actually.
Review 27:Absolutely nothing I liked for the short amount of time I was there.
Review 28:The hotel needs a shuttle to get you to some of the sights around town. Also, we had hand prints on the mirror.
Review 29:The staff was excellent. They were very helpful and polite.
Review 30:Long wait to access the loading and unloading area of the hotel is very small so I had to park then just go inside and check in. Staff didn't explain anything about the hotel , i.e. Eateries and gaming access. I think an event was going on in the atrium, but the desk staff didn't attempt to share that info.
Review 31:The location of the hotel was great
Review 32:I was not pleased that I could not enjoy the restaurant. I did eat there once but got sick from the smoke and had a flare up of my asthma. I asked the desk clerk the next day if any of the restaurants were smoke free and she said no...because they were open to the area where the casino players were.
Review 33:I liked the comfort of the room. Also room service was prompt and food was good.
Review 34:Terrible facilities staff. My room had no trash bags in any of the refuse containers. The worst part was booking one thing with your site, then lumière had no record of it.
Review 35:The room was spacious. The view and atmosphere were pretty good.
Review 36:Waited 20 min. To check in. No one at checkin counter. Like to have never found out where I could park. (Was pulling a 18ft. Car trailer)
Review 37:Always a great facility. Great location.
Review 38:The bathroom lighting was poor there were stains on the carpet. The door had cracks and I had to look for a usb port for my phone but they didn't have any in the room. They just had regular plugs. The room needs to be updated.
Review 39:The staff was friendly
Review 40:The lighting in the bathroom was very poor with limited light available only above the sink area. There was not enough light to get ready or apply make-up while in the bathroom & it was dim at best while in the shower.
Review 41:We loved the location, free parking & convenience to get to the casino, bar & restaurants. The hotel lobby was very nice & our room was comfortable & nicely decorated.
Review 42:The hotel is very loud. I could hear people in the lobby all night long, we were on the 6th floor. They advertise a mini fridge but it isn't cold and you can't use it because it is stocked with stuff to purchase.
Review 43:Location
Review 44:Non smoking room is non smoking. The room smelled as well as out dated. No hooks to hang towels. Not enough outlets. Paper thin walls. You can hear everything. Definitely not worth the money!
Review 45:Close to the lacede landing.
Review 46:Friendly staff. Check in was a breeze. Accommodated us with extra pillows. We were at an event at the Dome so location was perfect. Breakfast buffet was delicious & The Diner had nice service a decent food.
Review 47:Extremely old rooms, showers, baths. If you are looking for a fresh hotel then you are definitely in the wrong place.
Review 48:We liked the fact that the casino is on premises.
Review 49:Had notified and updated them of late arrival (late plane & delays). When arrived told no room. Tried to send us to IL when we resisted tried to send us to near by hotel when we asked for a writing from them they suddenly found our room and it was exactly what we reserved. No idea what they were trying to pull but would never book again & trust them to actually have a room
Review 50:Location near St Louis sport venues
Review 51:No continental breakfast. Very disappointing and would not have stayed if that was known. The room was too cold for the outside temperature. The decor was outdated. The lighting was bad. There was no exhaust in the bathroom. The TV channel selection was small. The paid per view movies cost was to high and no lower cost options.
Review 52:The quietness of the entire hotel.
Review 53:Not enough outlets. I had to unplug a lamp to accomodate a device, and the clock radio was located on the other side of the room from the bed.
Review 54:Location can't be beat, with both Laclede's Landing and the casino across the street. The staff was super attentive as well.
Review 55:The room we had had evidently been a smoking room at one time. The room still had a strong smoke smell. There was also a very long confusing wait at check in. Having everybody check in at the same time does not work well.
Review 56:It was close to the stadium.
Review 57:Check in was horrible. long line, unfriendly desk staff. Definitely overpriced. Busy weekend in STL and they gouge you.
Review 58:The suites have a lot of room. Cozy and comfortable. Quiet hotel.
Review 59:We were not aloud to check in for 4 hours due to the hotel over booking. Had to wait with other upset reservation holders. No explainable from management, was just told we had to wait.
Review 60:Easy access to Busch stadium and the rams stadium.
Review 61:Slow broadband.
Review 62:We liked the view from our room - we could see the St Louis Arch. The close proximity of the casino was nice as we didn't have to go far to find somewhere to eat for dinner.
Review 63:We did find mold in the showers but made sure to inform the front desk.
Review 64:After booking I became a little skeptical and unsure of my choice of hotel only because of the reviews I had read. After being greeted by the very friendly staff at the front desk, walking in and seeing a beautiful lobby with the bar and waterfall in the center and than seeing our amazing room I knew I made the right choice.
Review 65:Room felt a little musty and probably would have asked for a different room if we were staying more than one night...probably an isolated issue.
Review 66:Short walk to Arch, free parking w/ hotel stay, view of Arch from hotel room, large room w/ very comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 67:Overall, the hotel was not the best. Constant issues with our room keys, issues with elevators and the air in the room never worked right.
Review 68:The location was the only highlight of the hotel.
Review 69:Room had a strong mildew smell carpet almost seemed wet and the air conditioning wouldn't keep up so we spent most of the night sweating in the room 78 was as cold as it got until 2:30 or 3 am
Review 70:Hotel was in a great spot other than trying to get there off of I70 football game had the road closed took us almost a half hour to get to hotel
Review 71:with they had an refrigerator that wasn't on a 30sec charge you $ if we used it. not even a microwave.
Review 72:the staff was most excellent. helpful with things to do with children. the head desk manager was awesome
Review 73:Everything ! The room smelled horrible , stains all over hallway carpet and coming away from wall. Stains all throughout the room . The air thermostat was broke . I would never stay here again if you paid me !
Review 74:The only thing nice was we had a view of the casino and attached Four Seasons Hotel
Review 75:Would not give me 2 rooms together even though I booked 2 months in advance. Our rooms were not ready until 2 hours after scheduled check in. Air was not working right.
Review 76:The room had a fridge but it was fully stocked and thus you could not keep any personal items cold. The pull out sofa bed was very uncomfortable and poked you with its springs. The mattress on one of the beds was dome shaped so that if you laid too close to the edge, you slid off. The bathroom was super tiny with little room to turn around and shut the door to use the toilet. The staff were not very friendly and had strict rules on when the kids could swim. Then when they did swim, there were constantly staff coming in or walking by monitoring them which made the kids want to leave.
Review 77:The hotel had a good location in downtown St. Louis. The rooms were spacious enough for our family of 5. The lobby was beautiful and the kids loved the glass elevators and being able to see the lobby from all floors.
Review 78:some of the staff was very rude & careless , we had a very difficult time trying to check in. and when we finally were able check in, we found out in the middle of the night , we had bed bugs in our bed. when we told them things were in the bed biting us , all they did was give us a new room , no one apologized , no one tried to make up for it. & I really could have a made a big to do about there being bed bugs in our bed , but I didn't. I didn't like the customer service whatsoever .
Review 79:the location of the hotel was awesome, we were about 10 minutes walking from the arch , & we walked the landing. it was awesome quality time with my boyfriend
Review 80:Very dark lighting in rooms and bathroom. TV went out the next morning. Wifi was slow. Bed uncomfortable. Very few outlets to charge cell phones
Review 81:The staff was friendly and the lobby was nice
Review 82:Called room service for breakfast at 9:30 food didn't arrive till 10:50 when he had to go down to checkout. Didn't get to eat before our flight but didn't get charged for the food.
Review 83:Spacious room. Inside of hotel is very cool. Free shuttle to Busch stadium.
Review 84:Our room was dirty. Looks like the carpet hadn't been vacuumed. There was dirt all around the bathtub and bath sink. Our AC was set at 60 when we arrived but the thermostat said 76. We called for maintenance. When he came he told us it was blowing air and to give it more time. It never got below 75. There were lots of parties going on in the hotel. Wouldn't recommend this for families.
Review 85:The room was spacious and the location was good. Front desk staff the next morning was nice.
Review 86:No wifi in room, some of the staff were a little rude but overall they were great. Bathrooms were small.
Review 87:Very comfortable, great room, beautiful hotel, great location, mostly great staff
Review 88:Hallway carpeting stained in numerous places. Our room was not very clean. In the corners and behind doors had not been touched.
Review 89:Central lobby area with waterfall fountain, comfortable seating areas, bar, and lighting was a nice area.
Review 90:The beds were very uncomfortable. feet were higher than my head, if I was too close to the edge, the edge of the bed would collapse and tip me off. Pool not kid friendly. My 11 year old wasn't allowed on the pool deck outside even though he was with my husband and there wasn't anyone else out there. That just seems like an employee on a power trip.
Review 91:see above
Review 92:Rooms were very dated and old looking. The air conditioning didn't work very well and on a hot summers day they didn't even leave the A/C on when they knew people where checking in after they cleaned the room. Didn't like much
Review 93:Wasn't crazy about all the smoke in the Casino. It was quite expensive for one night as well.
Review 94:We were able to tour downtown, arch, etc with ease. Great area to visit for the day.
Review 95:Nothing
Review 96:It had the perfect location. It was close to the Rams stadium, Cardinals ballpark, and the Gateway Arch. Also a lot of restaurants are nearby. Noth
Review 97:The hotel carpet is filthy. The carpet in our room was disgusting. Bathroom was in desperate need of a deep cleaning.
Review 98:Location The building is beautiful
Review 99:No fan in the bathroom. Air conditioners in the room did not worn properly. Coffee pot in room but no holder to hold the grounds pod Amenities not as states in website. A few stains on the carpet and random hairs on a few pillows. Wifi slow
Review 100:The front desk staff were friendly but didn't always relay necessary information (ie: you need a parking pass to park in guest parking and you need wrist bands to swim in the pool)
Review 101:We ordered online ahead of time and ordered a smoking room, but when we got there were told we ordered non-smoking. We were supposed to have 2 king sized beds but they were queen sized.
Review 102:The room was nice and the staff were helpful
Review 103:First time I have ever prepared a list of things that didn't work in the room and the noises which I gave to the clerk when I left. Outside my window was duct work for an air handler. Obviously there was a bearing going out, which sounded like an ice cream maker motor every thirty seconds.
Review 104:No refrigerator or microwave in room and since there was no breakfast offered, we were forced to go to an expensive restaurant every morning. WiFi was extremely slow. Cleanliness of rooms was sub-par. TVs were not HD and there was no listing of stations in the room. Also no information on the hotel services/amenities, nearby attractions, etc. in the rooms. Only brochures in the lobby from attractions in Missouri.
Review 105:size of the rooms was nice. Staff was friendly.
Review 106:Room service was slow and honestly unsatisfactory. A piece of stale lemone meringue pie and melted shake were what we got. Not worth the $18 I paid. It was also difficult to get to with all the construction. The pool hours were sad. Only till 8pm with anyone under 21.
Review 107:Was loved the great location! The living area was a surprise to us, and much appreciated!!! The staff were so incredibly nice and helpful with getting situated and finding us a room that wow'd us all!
Review 108:Our room desperately needed to be updated!!!!! I stayed in this hotel almost 15 years ago... I think it had the same decor and maybe even the same carpeting! Lights in the bathroom were very very poor(dim)!!!!
Review 109:Bed was comfortable.
Review 110:After returning home from the hotel, I found bed bugs in my things. A friend that stayed with us has a large rash on his leg from them and they refused to do anything about it and continued to put people in the room after it was reported.
Review 111:The hotel seemed nice and relatively clean.
Review 112:Air conditioning would not get room below 76 degrees and stuffy. We traveled with 2 other couples and we all had the same problem. Hotel needs remodel.
Review 113:Okay location. Staff was friendly
Review 114:For the money, you should be able to park free anytime. Luckily we were close enough to all of the places we were visiting and could walk. They were out of smoking rooms when we checked in the hotel.
Review 115:It's nice that it's connected to casino. Staff was friendly.
Review 116:Not kid friendly. Pool closes early to kids. Must have wrist band which wasn't informed to us when checking in. Worker chasing us down because of no wrist band
Review 117:The facility was great, the staff very friendly & very helpful. We were able to walk to the Arch, & leave our car parked. That was VERY helpful.
Review 118:Very disappointed that the electric went out at the Casino. It was our 30 year Anniversary and we come to spend the evening there but then had to find other things to do!!!!
Review 119:That we could walk to other places
Review 120:I am a non smoker and was allocated a smoking room. This made spending any relaxing time in my room unbearable, at it smelt like an ashtray so badly. I couldn't be allocated a non smoking room until my last night. If switched the fan on it was incredibly noisy. Did not enjoy the room. It made all my clothes smell of heavy smoking even during my few days that I spent in Saint Louis afterwards. Being a non smoker this was horrendous
Review 121:very comfortable king size bed, big living area and bedroom in suite, clean, and they give you the top shelf of the mini bar fridge to use as you please. If you're from milwaukee, the area feels similar to the third ward, great for exploring by foot, plenty of food and drink options
Review 122:We were staying here for our honeymoon and had to leave a night early because the casino and food places were all shut down due to a power outage. No explanation was given on why the power was out (would have made me feel better) and when the casino staff informed my husband and I of the outage they laughed while saying it. I had to ask if they were joking! This was not funny!
Review 123:The cost of the room was $229.00 excluding tax. We have stayed here many times and have never had to pay that much even on weekends.
Review 124:Bed was very comfortable and the view was nice. Navigating through the hotel to get to the casino was very easy.
Review 125:Receptionist very rude and not helpful. She said there was only 1 room booked when we had the Booking.Com print clearly highlighting that we booked 2 x rooms ( 2 people per room). Eventually given keys to rooms when entering the rooms they were clearly Smoking rooms when we asked and documented on the Booking.Com form that we requested NON Smoking rooms. There were events going on therefore the main public foyer area was partially closed off.
Review 126:Leaving the hotel
Review 127:The doorhandle to the bedroom broke, the bathroom had not appeared to actually have a cleaning in quite some time as there was hair in the tub dirt streamed down the outside of the tub and dust and other things in the corners and behind toilet. The inside door of the bathroom had handprints on it that were easily wiped off showing that the cleaning staff had not really clean the room. The carpet is severely stained and although we were in a non-smoking room it was quite obvious that it had been a smoking room at one time and not been fixed. The second floor must be kind of the party floor as the hallways and walls also indicated that it had not been really cleaned or that there are frequent parties on that floor. It's a remodeled Embassy suites clearly in need of updating.
Review 128:Bedding was comfortable. Location is good
Review 129:Small bathroom with little lighting and no exhaust fan. no balcony to smoke on if it was a non-smoking room since all the smoking ones were sold.
Review 130:Bed was very comfy.
Review 131:The clerk at check-in was a bit rude, but made it up later by trying to assist us with getting a taxi. The pool and exercise room don't open until 10AM, and check-out is 11 AM. So, no time to take advantage of the pool or to workout on the day of check-out.
Review 132:The beds were comfortable and security of the hotel was very good. The rooms are suites so they are large.
Review 133:Bathrooms could have used an exhaust fan and need the tile needs an deep cleaning.
Review 134:Love the location. Right next to the landing and casino. Not far from the Metrolink.
Review 135:The front desk staff was mediocre at best. Not very friendly. This family had come to the desk because they had gotten kicked out of the pool(so dad was carrying two small soaking wet children to the desk to obtain bands). Apparently they had a wristband policy, so if you didn't have one they made you get one. I don't have a problem with that but do have a problem with the staff when checking in didn't give everybody the same info. I heard them telling someone else checking in later info about the mini by that was never given to me. They should proactively ask if you needed wristbands, etc. It was not cheap so you need to step up your customer service!!
Review 136:I liked that we could walk to the landing and drink and then walk back. Didn't feel like it was unsafe to do so either. The staff was mediocre at best. I think 2 of the 4 elevators were working, but luckily didn't need them real often. It perturbs me when people order room service, put their tray in the hall at night and it's still there over 12 hrs later....the living area of the rooms were very noisy because of the atrium style design of the hotel, but luckily no one had to sleep out there. Rooms were good sized, beds were comfy and the blackout curtains worked great!!
Review 137:Would have liked more options to walk too.. landing is a mess... will be good once cleaned up
Review 138:Staff was good. It worked out for what we wanted which was to gamble.
Review 139:having to walk to the casino for breakfast but that's not all bad...
Review 140:I stay here often...actually having my wedding here...reasonable price valuable customer service and very nice and clean...
