Reviews for Mayfair Hotel Tunneln - Sweden Hotels
Review 1:This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in and I've been to 90 percent of the countries in the contenient of Europe. I can not praise this hotel enough and we are so greatful for such a wonderful stay. Sebastian and the staff/management of The Mayfair are ambassadors for Sweden and know exactly how to look after their guests. We left the Malmo Savoy for a change of view and within seconds we knew we made the right choice to extend our holiday. Just 20 minutes by train from Copenhagen airport and a 2 minute walk to the hotel. LOVE MALMO - LOVE THE MAYFAIR TUNNELN.
Review 2:Very cosy hotel, well located in nice area. Extremely friendly en helpful staff. Comfortable rooms, good beds, and lovely breakfast. Professional hotel, but with a personal touch and a lot of charm.
Review 3:It is very cozy hotel in the center of the city close to all main touristic places. Frendly staff; free complementary coffee/tea/cookies 24 hours. Very stylish!
Review 4:Could not say anything bad about our stay, except it was too short(only 1 night). Will try and return soon.
Review 5:Very interesting building. Loads of old pictures with stories alongside. More than just your normal chain hotel.Staff were brill & very friendly. They wanted to talk and tell you about the building.

Review 8:Everything is great in this hotel. The stuff is amazing , very friendly , helpfull and willing to help always , really lovely people. The hotel is one of a kind , with a lot of history , many famous people have stayed there . We had a small double , of course is small , but ,very confortable and cosy ,the bed is great , you sleep like a baby . It is very warm and pleasant . The bathrooms have new items , they were renovated recently. Breakfast very nice as well. In one world , excellent!!! Bravo, congratulations! And many thanks to Ann , very lovely person!
Review 9:Very central location, nevertheless quiet. Building of great historical interest, not least the medieval breakfast vaults, with a very good breakfast, too.
Review 10:The bathroom was a bit dated and it was hard to control the temperature of the shower.
Review 11:Hotel is centrally located, staff is very friendly and helpful, good breakfast selection
Review 12:No bad experience just a micro room and no space to do the morning Yoga workout!
Review 13:A cute hotel in the center of town with historical flavor. Freindly and helpful staff that go out of their way to help.
Review 14:Helpful staff, wonderful atmosphere with nice little touches and superb location for exploring the city and all at a very reasonable price. The restaurant was also fabulous, although more likely to be for special occasions than everyday eating - prices are high if you want to have the full experience.
Review 15:I payed for sfandart double room and payed 1375 but the hotel gave me not double room but little one 411 on 4 flore. The monney was for double roon. This is not honest and I want my monney back
Review 16:No service in the breakfast room.
Review 17:Great location and easy to find. Staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us a map and easy to follow directions, allowing us to see the best parts of Malmö.
Review 18:Can't think of anything now :)
Review 19:Very friendly staff, Sebastian from reception made sure I got a hipoallergenic room as I had requested. Thank you. The person which was at the reception when I arrived at the hotel at 23 o'clock came to fix the tv which was not working.
Review 20:No gym which makes a big difference (in the winter) for business travel. Some access lift for strollers in case of travelling with children.
Review 21:Everything. No complaints at all.
Review 22:Room was a little small but it was a single room.
Review 23:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. Room was very clean. Location is great. Very close to main squares
Review 24:Bath towels could be a bit bigger.
Review 25:The entbusiasm of the staff. Warm welcome, location, the history and ambience. Room excellent, complimentry refreshments 24 hours. Ironing room and excellent breakfast.
Review 26:Blankets were quite narrow, I expected bigger ones. Parking could be a minor problem for anyone driving.
Review 27:Friendly staff, great location and an overall great experience without any disappointments. Awesome showerhead!
Review 28:The beds were so comfortable to sleep in,it was so quite at night so you had a good sleep, all staff were helpful ,the breakfast was a excellent selection, would definatley recommend to any one
Review 29:Excellent location. Friendly and helpfull staff. Quiet rooms with good beds. Impressive breakfast with large selection and best quality. Interesting historic building
Review 30:We loved the warm staff, the history of the building, the beautiful paintings and furniture, the courtyard, the charm and uniqueness of the place, as well as the scrumptious food!!
Review 31:Stunning historical site! The double room was excellent & quiet. The breakfast very good. The location was perfect for walking around to our points of interest.
Review 32:The bathroom door handle coming off in my hand!
Review 33:The hotel is just a short walk from Malmo Central Station, so convenient for both train or flybus connections to the airport at Copenhagen. The Receptionist was charming, very warm and welcolming. We had booked a small double room as we were only there for 1 night but Ull offered us a larger double with bathtub/shower and balcony, for just a few pound more. The bath was deep enough to sink the Vasa and was very relaxing. Breakfast in the vaults was amazing and set us up for our day and journey home. A very cheerful young man happily lugged our luggage round to our room as it was an up and down route. Lovely hotel displaying its history with pride. Well trained staff. There is also a secure luggage area so we were able to check out and explore the city before catching a late afternoon train across Oresound to the airport
Review 34:The expensive parking is located on a different building, and it is full of worrisome disclaimers about its unsafeness.
Review 35:The proximity to Arduino Verkstad and Mälmo University. The Beatles slept there. 8-)
Review 36:The location of the hotel is perfect, and the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The room was comfortable, the breakfast excellent, and complimentary refreshments were available in the lounge throughout the day.
Review 37:Duvet a bit small for bed but second duvet in wardrobe.
Review 38:Great room and bathroom, tea and coffee faculties in room and in lounge all day. Lovely breakfast, easy to get to. Very helpful staff.
Review 39:If you enjoy staying in historic buildings, this is the place in Malmo. Truely unique with breakfast room in an area dating to the 1300's. Yet everything is very comfortable. Staff was outstanding!
Review 40:Single room was very small. Shower cabin tiny. No cupboard to put closes in. Price/value not justified
Review 41:central situation, close to the train station, breakfast, friendly staff
Review 42:Very small room.
Review 43:Very traditional hotel from the 16 -17th century.Basement constructed in the 13th century. Including a friendly lady ghost in room 417 ( if I remember correctly ). Ghostbusters please reserve this hotel!
Review 44:Restaurant underneath the hotel was great. Lovely old vault. The best burger I've ever had. Freshly made to order and perfectly medium cooked. The hotel breakfast is served down there too. Big selection of breakfast which was great. Very central location.
Review 45:Friendly and obliging staff. I had to catch an early morning flight and they graciously packed breakfast for me. Tea, coffee and cookies in the sitting room was a nice touch. I took the single room which was a little small but cosy. The history of the hotel made for a more interesting stay than the typical chain types.
Review 46:Smoking lounge just outside the room door -was unable to keep the windows open.
Review 47:Staff quickly responded to request for adjustment. Nice historic hotel in a great location.
Review 48:Very good location and lovely rooms. Good beds and a fan in the room. Friendly and welcoming staff. An area downstairs where you could get free tea, coffee and water, all day.
Review 49:Very close to station and centre, historic building with vaulted 14th century cellars as breakfast room. Excellent breakfast buffet with good choice, lovely beamed bedroom, shower room with underfloor heating. Friendly, helpful staff. Would love to stay again.
Review 50:The hotel was within a couple blocks of central station and right around the corner from the public square. Shopping was very close as were a multitude of cafes and restaurants. The central business district was within a 5 to 10 minute walk.
Review 51:Based on the hotel description on booking.com we would have expected another kind of room with more historical atmosphere. Finally what we got was a very ordinary room on the ground floor, in some kind of "annexe" and with no historical feel at all.
Review 52:Great location in the old town and just few hundred meters from the railway station. One of the best breakfast buffés ever
Review 53:Rooms are quite compact, the hotel is a bit of a maze and we had to go up and down the stairs and through various corridors to get to our room, which was no problem for us as we did not have huge luggage.
Review 54:Room with a little balcony, very helpful staff and delicious breakfast served in the cellars. Quirky hotel with some interesting history. There were free refreshments available to guests all day.
Review 55:Nothing of any significance.
Review 56:The location for train travellers is excellent. Lovely old world charm building. The staff were SO helpful from restaurant suggestions n bookings to helping out with luggage. Friendly n pleasant staff.
Review 57:The room I was allocated was large and confortable, but was under the roof with only skylights. I think this should be made clear in advance.
Review 58:Good location in central Malmö. Excellent breakfast.
Review 59:I have trouble believing that anyone could have a bad experience in this hotel.
Review 60:There is a sense of history at this hotel. From the moment you walk through the doors to reception and on to your room, you are told the story of the place in which you are staying. Added to the location, comfort and warm and friendly staff, this hotel is unbeatable. Just don't expect shiny chrome and wall to ceiling glass.
Review 61:The hotel's decor is wonderful! We love the cramped but obviously genuine early 20 th century-looking lift! All the extra decorations and the lounges impress us a lot! The location is near to the city centre. The hotel staff were efficient and of great help.
Review 62:There are 1 or 2 nails stick out on our room floor. It could hurt but luckily we noticed them and cover them with a booklet
Review 63:The breakfast restaurant is very special and cosy. You really have a lots choices there. The receptionists are friendly
Review 64:Breakfast is great with everything you could want both hot and cold. The location is great, close to pretty much everything of importance in regards to Central station and sights. Love the building itself and the scattered pieces of history.
Review 65:No Information about Bed/Room sized at the time of booking. Travelled with a friend and there was a Couplesroom booked. Upgrade for 100sk very cheap though! :)
Review 66:Good variation at breakfast buffet, very well located!
Review 67:Dusty and no room WIFI. Room was 23 sqm in listing but only measured 3.7x4.5m or 16.6sqm including bathroom. The listing said double but we were offered a twin or a downgrade. The furniture looks good in the photos but looks 2nd rate in person. People outside the room smoking and talking at 8:30 am.
Review 68:Close to the train station. New bathrooms. Hotel has one of those stupid overhead rain-style overhead showers that I can't use due to my bad back. So I used the hose sprayer and dealt with the drips from above.
Review 69:too hot in the room; no airco (only fan but room was still hot), expensive parking in the street, could use some modernizing of the furniture
Review 70:good bed, clean but small bathroom, super friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet
Review 71:We had a room without proper window under the roof. Rather unfriendly checkin staff and the breakfast roomand logistics were severely overcrowded...
Review 72:Historic location and right in the centre.
Review 73:The jacuzzi that we had in the room didnt work. Apparently we did not pay for a jacuzzi but only bathtub so we couldnt get a discount. They told us that 90% of the times they would get it to work but they didnt even come to the room and give it a try. Personally i think they where lying i mean why should a jacuzzi only work 90% of the times, periodic error?
Review 74:Liked the breakfast and the city.
Review 75:The noice from some kind of a construction company? They started the renovation around 0900, ok time but still some noice.....
Review 76:Very nice, old Hotel with lot's of charm. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Perfect Hotel for a visit to both Malmö and Copenhagen.
Review 77:A bit loud with the windows open
Review 78:Classy, grand hotel with fascinating history. The rooms were small but comfortable and felt plush. Loved the showers and bed. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had an amazing assortment. Location was perfect!
Review 79:it is a very old hotel with difficult access. Very old and small lift which causes problems with luggage. Breakfast offer very limited choice of food. It is probably Swedish that you have to be in a line regardless of what you want to have for breakfast. Room floor noisy when walking at night.
Review 80:Helpful staff and very good location. Nice client room with free drinks. Availability of a laundry room.
Review 81:The old style (heavy) keys.
Review 82:It was very helpful that the hotel is located next to the central train station. I also enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel and its history. The staff were friendly as well.
Review 83:Car parking expensive. Room 'in the attic' very warm, with small window and faulty catch. No aircon, although fan provided. In hot weather (which we didn't have as it was cloudy and rainy) would be pretty unbearable.
Review 84:Good location and great breakfast, helpful staff in recommending/booking restaurants Comfortable beds.
Review 85:Rooms need soap and washcloths for people that are used to using them. Also, the bathroom trash can was the pits. They charge too much for breakfast for people not staying there. It was very hot the week we were there and it would have been nice to have air-conditioning.
Review 86:The staff was friendly and professional.
Review 87:Too many stairs. I appreciate this is an old building, but perhaps something could be done to have a lift reaching the breakfast room. Rooms perhaps a little too old-fashioned furniture wise.
Review 88:Staff were superb. Parking available in locked parking house across the road - not cheap but worth it. Many interesting photos in the corridors - well worth a wonder around! Superb bed with electrical adjustment.
Review 89:nothing
Review 90:nice staff, very professional and helpful. lounge room with free coffee/tea and cookies. good location, near to the Central Station but quiet.
Review 91:There was nothing to dislike the hotel stay contributed to a veryenjoyable holiday in the malmo area
Review 92:Warm and friendly welcome and greeting each time we returned to thehotel staff were extremely helpful with any request which we hadoverall excellent service - we will be returning to this hotel on ournext trip to sweden
Review 93:In order to go to my room in the first level, I had to go through a labyrinth of ups and downs. The room had a small balcony but with view to some storage rooms. The shower switched between very hot or very cold water... Not lot of pressure.
Review 94:It is very close to the city center and the central train station. That is a huge plus. The building is beautiful and has lots of historical value.
Review 95:Hippasen liikaa rappusia matkalaukkuja raahaaville: ennen respaa, respan jälkeen, hissillä vähän matkaa, taas rappuset. Laitetaan vanhan rakennuksen piikkiin.
Review 96:Sijainti, aamupala ja etenkin henkilökunta erinomaiset!
Review 97:The room was a small double and was quite cramped but had a nice ensuite. There was a fan but no air conditioning
Review 98:We stayed in the Mayfair hotel at the end of our holiday touring around Sweden. We loved the character of the hotel , the location was excellent right in the heart of the old town, near restaurants etc. the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the coffee lounge very much appreciated.
Review 99:The breakfast was quite boring. There was many things to choose from, but not so special. For instance, they should buy bread from some nice bakery instead. Dark in the breakfast basement.
Review 100:Very close to central station and shopping street. Free coffee and small cakes to enjoy on the inner yard.
Review 101:Convenient location, close to the city center. Incredible old building, full with history. The basement, where the breakfast is located, is an unique place. The breakfast food is fresh, one of the best croissant that I've eaten in Sweden :) The rooms are spacious with huge beds.
Review 102:Great location. The hotel is walking distance from Malmo's Central Station and the Stortorget. Wonderful breakfast with an extensive selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, pastries, and breads. There was always a table available for the four of us and the hostesses were constantly restocking the buffet. Our room was larger than expected and accommodated the four of us comfortably. There is a hot beverage and snack area set up in the room down the hall from the reception desk. We enjoyed our evenings there. The staff was very professional and helpful. (A special thanks to Sebastian for his patience and kindness.)
Review 103:The history of the property. Also, the courtesy of the staff, i.e., Anna & All... And of course the fabulous breakfast in the historic cellar...
Review 104:Not recommended for disabled guests: you need to climb stairs to reach the reception level. Old style elevator operates from reception to guestroom levels, however, breakfast is served in the cellar.
Review 105:Beautiful historical building with antique furniture. Charming, old world atmosphere. Spacious bedroom, tiny bathroom. Sumptuous breakfast. Perfect location. Complimentary tee and coffee offered in a lovely reading room.
Review 106:Excellent in all aspects though quite expensive. Location close to the station and old town suited us. Staff were terrific, breakfast excellent, beds the best we've slept in in 10 weeks of travel. Faultless.
Review 107:All praises.
Review 108:Less than 5 min walk to Malmo Central train & bus terminal. Less than 5 min walk to Little Square located in Old Town History of the hotel. Heritage building. Oldest lift in Malmo. Fantastic breakfast spread. Friendly staff at front desk.
Review 109:The hotel was surprisingly quiet for such a central location. It had loads of character including breakfast in the vaults. The staff were very friendly.
Review 110:room opened on to street so was slighlty noisy in the morning.
Review 111:location, and service was excellent I booked a small single but in comparison to other hotels the room was large and airy.
Review 112:Nothing bad to say, the only thing the room needed was a soap holder in the shower.
Review 113:Everything from the friendly staff to the charm of the hotel makes you feel welcome. It is perfectly located, 2 minute walk from the train station, 20minutes train journey from Copenhagen airport and is located perfect for shops and restaurant.
Review 114:Nothing.
Review 115:Everything about the hotel was great. The staff were very friendly , the location was in the centre of town and breakfast was the best.My room was very clean and the wi-fi was fast.
Review 116:The single rooms are a bit underfurnished, mine had no drawer, just coat hangers.
Review 117:3 minutes walk to Central Station. Good, varied breakfast. Free tea/coffee in the room. Pictures/stories on the corridors are mostly related to the building itself.
Review 118:I let the children sleep in the main double bed and I slept in the couch which did not have the most comfortable mattress.
Review 119:Since we arrived and left by train the close distance to the train station was very important to us this time.
Review 120:Old hotel. If you are looking at anything modern, this hotel is not for you. We are in the last room so WiFi signal not very good.
Review 121:Very close to train station and stone throw to major attractions. Breakfast is good and have a lot of choices in Swedish standard. Staff very polite.
Review 122:The double bed had cover for part of bed only. There was no soap for the sink, only liquid soap attached to wall in shower. No bar soap could be found in all of the hotel in spite of effort of night personnel.
Review 123:It is a bit pricey for what you actually get!
Review 124:Location of this hotel is perfect. Just a few steps from central station....we found it very easy. Breakfast is really good with plenty of choice to satisfy any preferences. We truly enjoyed the breakfast. Staff is polite and professional. Thanks a lot!
