Reviews for Hotel Portao Diaz
Review 1:The hotel was very noisy. My bedroom was the closest to the foyer and main entrance. At 01:30 I had to open my window asking the guards or other employees not to speak at the top of their voices right in front of my bedroom. Of course I could not fall asleep again and got up very frustrated the next morning knowing that I still had to drive 400 km on that day! No lift in a 3* hotel! How do you accommodate disabled guests?! The bar and casino (!) are also a disgrace. Just as well we stayed for one night only.
Review 2:The clean an newly renovated rooms and the breakfast.
Review 3:The hotel was actually very nice in itself, however the location really let it down and you need to bear this in mind when booking. Upon arrival we were drove around in circles as we didn't quite believe it was the right area! We were very tempted to find alternative accommodation as the hotel is located in a very localised area, not quite a shanty town but not far from it. It was terrible in comparison to the actual town, it was a very poor area and whilst the hotel had security it didn't feel very nice at all. Sorry to post this as the rooms were fine and it was cheap but I would not stay there again.
Review 4:The area is a bit scary and intimidating when you arrive, but once you arrive and see the hotel and know that your car is safe with the security guard, it doesn't seem that bad.
Review 5:The rooms are clean, comfortable and with great views of the sea. The bathroom is modern with nice tiles and new fittings. The staff are welcoming and helpful.
Review 6:Terrible location. In the center of a run down residential area. The hotel looked nothing like the pictures. The only positive was the friendly staff.
Review 7:Great staff, especially Kim (very friendly and great advice) and the cook (great food). The rooms are a bit to dark, adding another colour on the walls and/or more lights will bring a better ambiance!
Review 8:Wonderful hosts, they sat us down and shared ideas on what we could do in Plett and were kind enough to make dinner reservations for us! We also loved the idea of breakfast vouchers for a local cafe for breakfast, so we could explore instead of staying at our terrace :-)
Review 9:The location really lets this place down. There are no two ways about it, it didn't feel safe. It's in one of the poorer areas of the town so going for a walk around the area just wasn't an option.
Review 10:The receptionist who greeted us was a delight (sadly can't remember her name.) The twin room we were given couldn't be faulted. Clean, comfortable and had a particularly nice bathroom which appeared to be brand new.
Review 11:There is nothing i can complain or say i did not like there really.
Review 12:The kindness and friendliness of the staff there, very helpful. Anuaska who help us and did the check in was very helpful, even give us a full tour of the hotel there. She was a great help i must say, the hotel is very neat and great service.
Review 13:Location feels slight unsafe but the view from the front facing rooms makes up for this. Breakfast is not of the best quality.
Review 14:Super friendly staff. Communal facilities clean but dated. Rooms clean and modern. Renovation taking place but very discreet.
