Reviews for Chalet Inn

Review 1:Bathroom door didn't shut ,let alone lock. It was too far away from the main drag. It took 2 hours to get through Pigeon Forge. I realize it was a holiday, but 2 hours? The heater was broken. No heat and rattled continuously.

Review 2:Quiet

Review 3:Would prefer a room with a wood burning fireplace.

Review 4:We were able to watch the ball drop and the fireworks from our balcony. Very close to everything and was able to walk from town. Second time staying here. Will definitely come back.

Review 5:Although room was clean the Lobby area just needs some cleaning,

Review 6:Location is right behind the Tram so short walking distance to town. Excellent price for this type of facility right in Gatlinburg. Very comfortable.

Review 7:Didn't know I had to check in at the Econo lodge at the foot of the hill. Just happend to bump in to the maintenance man or I wood still be looking for the office.

Review 8:Location

Review 9:There was no hot water for shower, tub was clogged. And no employeesseemed to care. No offer of even small discount for not being able toshower during my stay. No one seemed to care at all.

Review 10:The view from room was nice

Review 11:The coffee in the room tasted like water and seemed like it may have been years old. Not a fan of exterior entrances but hey, you can't change that.

Review 12:Location was really close to downtown and the room had a big balcony overlooking a shallow area of woods.

Review 13:Arrived at 2:10pm. On bike, staff wouldn't let us into room until 3pm. We had to stand outside of the until 3 and go back to get key. Room was not a short walk from office. A steep up hill grade from office. "We asked for additional toliet tissue, and was told to come and get it." Only a half rool in room.

Review 14:Room Size

Review 15:Expected a real fireplace and it was a fake fireplace that didn't produce heat. Also would have been nice if check in wasn't at another hotel.

Review 16:We like the location and room was very large.

Review 17:Just needs some updating which by the looks of the dumpster they are working on.Didn't like having to check in and out down the hill at the other hotel but really it wasn't too terrible to have to do.

Review 18:Love how much room we had! It was very clean and we got fresh towels and the bed made everyday. Close to the strip but very quiet.

Review 19:Traffic was horrible. Expected a fun Gatlinburg trip, but the traffic made it less than pleasurable to leave the room. The room key gave us troubles each day we stayed.

Review 20:The view was beautiful and it was very quiet.

Review 21:There was no FAN IN THE BATH, which made it difficult to do anything in the bath after a shower, beds were made up beautifully and linens and and towels very clean but quality was poor and sheets were pilled and rough. Tub drain and sink faucet did not work properly and leaked, ceilings were split, window curtains were not sufficient to cover completely and balcony light was lit all night.

Review 22:Size of the room and bath, dressing table, fireplace, balcony and good mattress. Updates were good but poorly done, ie carpet had come unseamed, no fan in the bathroom made the nice tile inconsequential, drain in tub didn't work right nor the shower curtain magnets so you fought the curtain all through the shower, sink leaked around faucet.

Review 23:The door had holes in it where anyone from the hallway could see into our room. We stuffed toilet paper in them to just feel a little better. Our heater quit working an hour after we checked in but there was nobody to complain to. You have to check in and out at another property and it's not easily walkable to the rest of the city because of the steep hill. We also booked this because of the "view" but our room had frosted Windows and couldn't see out at all.

Review 24:It was clean

Review 25:Should have been told check in was down the hill, not onsite. Didn't like driving up to the motel only having to turn around & drive back down the hill to an office we drove passed.

Review 26:The location was close to downtown & the view was really great from some parts of the parking lot. Would have preferred upper floor room, but the privacy of our ground level room was amazing!

Review 27:Was not happy for the fact the roof was caved in, the room needs renovation badly. But was comfy

Review 28:The fact I was able to park and walk the town without driving and pay for parking was awesome.

Review 29:Location up a hill. And lady bugs crawling on ceilings. Sure we ate some while sleeping yuck !

Review 30:Jacuzzi but it was suppose to have a fireplace per website

Review 31:Nothing.....perfect for us

Review 32:Lovely location at the top of the hill. Views were amazing from the balcony. Large, clean room. Fixtures were tired but lots of space and a fireplace.

Review 33:First off we went to the Inn only to be told that we had to go back down the hill to complete our check in. We never saw hotel staff during our stay. The description of the room is very misleading as it states there is a fireplace when it was only an electric fake fireplace that puts out no heat whatsoever. It is just for looks. This was very disappointing since that is why we chose the room. This is a very old outdated Inn with old and dirty carpet.

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:We arrived at the hotel around 8:30p.m. and it was raining. The hotel office was already closed and we had to get back in the car and travel back down the road to the nearest hotel and check in there. There were no extra blankets in the room so we had to go back down the road to get an extra blanket. There was a fireplace in the room but it did not work.

Review 36:We reached this hotel around 9:30pm in the night. The rooms and reception are far away. I was given a room, went with all luggage and family only to find the key was not working. Called reception down the hill, but maintenance guy was stuck on main road in town. We waited for 10-15 mins outside room, with no keys and finally drove back with all stuff and family to reception and got another room key. This time however had a maintenance person with us and ensured keys were working. But we found the room with full of bugs (lady bugs). Again changed the room and finally this one was ok. But there were no bathroom tissue supplied. Called reception again, finally got all toiletery supply. Next morning, since reception was far away and needed to drive car, could not go early for breakfast. Reached at 9:55 am, thought we were just in time for breakfast. But we were not allowed breakfast and all stuff was being taken out although the time for breakfast was 7am-10am. Spent around 30 bucks outside on breakfast. This hotel sucks! Dont go if you have family, rather say dont go!

Review 37:Receptionist was good, tried to help.

Review 38:The bed was super comfy!!! They supplied the fire wood. It was very quiet yet walking distance to downtown. Everything was clean. It had a rustic feel which we enjoyed very very much!!!

Review 39:The tv in our room was small. Maybe 32 inch . There was no microwave. Otherwise all was well.

Review 40:Upon arrival we needed an extra blanket and one was given to us immediately. We voiced our concern about the light near the front door as well as the deck being out. A call was made and we learned they were on timers.

Review 41:Our room was dark, even with a wall of windows. The view we ask for was totally blocked. No balcany, no way to let any fresh air in, windows didn't open. We asked for an extra blanket and it had big holes in it. Couldn't use the fireplace. The other rooms had a normal enterance door, our opened outward and looked like we were going into a storage closet. This was suppose to be a very special anniversary weekend for us and it was VERY DISAPPOINTING. Will not return or recommend.

Review 42:The staff was very nice and friendly.

Review 43:The property is very outdated. In need of renovation. The smell of mold was so strong in our room, I had to purchase a neti pot. Actually you can smell it when you walk in the front office. Apparently, they clean with pure bleach because the bleach odor was so strong in one of the bathrooms we had to keep the door closed. Probably trying to mask the mold odor. I left a coat there and called a few hours after we left and was assured that they would call me back. Its been a week and Im still waiting for the call. It is suppose to be pet free but our room had fresh dog urine spots on the floor. Dont pay any attention to the photos of the rooms on their web site because those rooms do not exist. Still trying to figure out where they were taken. Unless some major and I mean major renos are done in the future, I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone. In its prime it was probably the place to stay but it has not been kept up.

Review 44:The location was away from the strip therefore it was quite. That's the only good thing that I can say about this place.

Review 45:no indoor pool,no microwave that we just have to have in our room..no continental breakfast, was abt same price as newer, rooms that have balconies on the river..balcony has line of trees that hides the view of the city

Review 46:It is very old motel but very beautiful.. It rooms are different than your average, all motels rooms layout..Beautiful wood all inside, fireplace, cozied up in the edge of mountains. I luved it was diff thatn usual nice big room with lprivate balcony

Review 47:Was not actually any staff on duty. We had to check in at another motel office, and had to go to that motel when our room entry card didn't work on the third day.

Review 48:Big room with fireplace (electric), great location to get into the national park. Was close to restaurants, and the convention center.

Review 49:Didn't like small pillows on king size bed. They belonged on a twin bed. No blankets or bedspread. Went to office to ask for a blanket and another pillow. When handed one , it didn't have a pillow case. I just went back to the room after that.

Review 50:Area was good. Motel was dated . Overall , it was ok.

Review 51:Our room was filthy. Bugs and ticks in the tub. We cleaned them out and found out they were coming from the ceiling. Doors were not sealed and barely shut. Air conditioner was on it's last leg and so loud it woke you up during the night. No staff anywhere to be found. Checked in at another hotel and they could have cared less that we were not happy with our room. This property looks nothing like the pictures shown on line. I will never stay there again and deserve a refund!

Review 52:The view from the hotel is beautiful and the location is great!

Review 53:The first room we got had a very strong musty & mildew smell to it. We were able to get our rooms changed promptly without issue. The gentleman knew there was an issue with some of the rooms. The facility & rooms itself do need updating (Stuck in 70's)

Review 54:The location being close to the main strip but not directly on it was wonderful. Classic feel to the facility.

Review 55:Driveway to the chalet was extremely steep. We parked our car on the premise and walked to the main strret vs driving/parking...great exercise but walking back up to the chalet was a real killer.

Review 56:Secluded and private...not on the main street.

Review 57:The front door doesn't close gently so it would slam loudly every time someone went out. Just needed the closure fixed.

Review 58:The room and king size bed were great for what we wanted. We had a wood fireplace that we lit every night. We could see the tram to Ober out our window which was pretty cool along with the view.

Review 59:We don't mind 70's kitcsch and didn't expect much for a last minute trip to Gatlinburg, but this was hands down the worst hotel experience we have ever had. Upon arriving, the hotel was run down and almost deserted. We had to check in at a different hotel, and we mostly laughed the experience off saying we felt like we were in a horror movie. The room looked nothing like the pictures, total bait and switch, but we figured we'd just laugh it off and roll with it. That is until our heating unit went out at 1AM. When we called the desk, it took them 30 minutes to call us back to tell us they had no maintenance staff, but they could move us to a different room. We had to walk down to the other hotel with our suitcases in our pajamas to retrieve our keys, not once, but 3 times, as all 3 times the keys didn't unlock the doors for the 3 different rooms we were assigned. By 3AM, we finally ended up in a much smaller and dingier room than the one we paid for. Of course when we complained, there was no management on site to receive our complaints. Worst anniversary ever.

Review 60:The location was fine.

Review 61:Terrible staff. Didn't tell me I had to check in at a completely different hotel. Completely had people wake me up in the middle of the night

Review 62:I loved how close it was to Gatlinburg. Literrly just right off the main strip. Great and easy walking.

Review 63:Room smelled like mold, pictures on website are at least 20 years old and looked like nothing like our room. Tv is outdated like room, no microwave, heat and air barely worked, the inn is not staffed and you must check in down the road. The office area has a small microwave but needs to be cleaned. Overall one of the worst places we have ever stayed. Booking should require updated pictures of inn and the ones shown on their webpage is just playing fraud. No breakfast offered due to poor management by Reagan hotels which now owns the chalet inn.

Review 64:Only thing is it's quite.

Review 65:had a coffee pot, but no coffee or sugar, had a balcony with broken glass in the door. the room has 2 main entrances, one that really needs to be blocked off as it comes in through the bathroom area.

Review 66:very clean, nice size room,

Review 67:This hotel was disgusting when we walked in there was a used condom wrapper in our floor bugs on the counter and the back door was broke. When we requested our money back they told booking.com they offered to move us and they did not because they had no available rooms

Review 68:There were large holes in the door that allowed you to look right into the room. When the door was locked, you could still halfway open it from the outside. The room had opaque windows and thick curtains that did not allow any outside light in so it was difficult to know what time of day it is. The front desk has very odd hours so if you need service at night or in the morning, you are referred to a different hotel.

Review 69:The room was clean and the hotel was very quiet. Looked like the carpet had recently been replaced.

Review 70:I wanted to get out on the deck, but the bugs around the light were annoying. I would have stayed on the porch, but did not see a way to turn off the lights.

Review 71:The size of the entire space was most comfortable. The water pressure and the warmth of the water was well.

Review 72:Parking. Sometimes people would take up two parking spaces and we had to park pretty far from our room and the lighting around there should be better since there is bears living close by. One other thing is the bed needs heavier blankets or comforters. Little thin blanket doesn't get it .We were cold freezing every night we were there.

Review 73:We loved our room. It overlooked the pool. It was a big room. It had a balcony. The bathroom was really nice and big. We really liked that.

Review 74:Possible allergens in room?

Review 75:Design of the hotel, non-branded, unique and interesting, bathroom had a heater, balcony in room, fireplace in room, everything (tv, fridge, etc) in room was working well

Review 76:First of all we arrived after a long drive and had to go down the street to checking in ..the room are very out dated..balcony view was a joke..very disappointing for the money..no breakfast included...rip off...

Review 77:Nothing...

Review 78:Lock on door broken. Smoke detector battery alarm went off during night & had to climb up & remove. Curtains didn't close & then fell down. Had to check in at economy I m & was not told ahead of time.

Review 79:Large room with a baths.

Review 80:No staff on site, had to check in at another motel down the road that was handling check ins for them after we found no staff on site and a letter telling us to do so. Bed didn't have a bedspread, just a sheet and a blanket. Didn't have a proper shower curtain, water got all over the floor.

Review 81:Located close to everything in downtown Gatlinburg and Smokey Mountain Natl Forrest. Comfy king size bed. Great private view from the balcony. Far away enough from everything to still be quiet.

Review 82:The balcony storm door top glass was missing, couldn't open bathroom window, and bathroom fan didn't work. Never reported it though as they all were that way when we checked in! Assumed they knew this!

Review 83:A quiet location. We were greeted with a bottle of sparkling cider, 2 glasses with candy kisses, to share for our 50th Anniversary! Thank you so much! Our entry card into room had to be replaced and it was fixed within a short period of time.

Review 84:Semen stayed comforter, EXTREMELY RUDE MAINTENANCE MAN, air conditioning died the second day, construction next room over, construction materials and debris scattered around the grounds, no onsite maintenance or cleaning personal, just a poorly or n and maintained property. Definitely to not planning another stay here or recommending this place to any one.

Review 85:I really enjoyed checking out!

Review 86:No microwave in the room. The drive up the hill to the hotel was a little tough. Only 1 lane up and down. So kinda scary.

Review 87:Heated bathroom floors were nice. Intentional or not.

Review 88:The fact that these beautiful chalets have not been taken care of and it is like they are just letting them go downhill. I would imagine in there prime they were fantastic.

Review 89:The location was great and the pool was well placed. We even enjoyed the little bear running around! It was not swarmed with people.

Review 90:Did not like that I had to go from The Chalet to the other hotel to register in, then go back to Chalet to get into my room. Inconvenient. There were a few bugs in the shower. It made me feel my room was not clean.

Review 91:Location and Breakfast.

Review 92:There is no staff you have to go to another hotel to check in. room keys never worked the pool was locked the whole time staff was very rude from both hotels I won't go back

Review 93:Location was awesome and had an awesome view

Review 94:Didn't like going up a steep hill to get there. Swimming pool needed cleaning. Nobody doing anything to clean it. TV was old tube type. No flat screen. Had to reconnect phone because it didn't work. Carpet needed to be re stretched. It was just old and needed to be upgraded.

Review 95:I thought the room was spacious. Wifi was good. Place was very clean. Nice to have coffee pot and frig. It wasn't very crowded so that was Nice.

Review 96:There was hair in the jacuzzi tub, dead bugs in window seal, sheets did not fit mattress and the mattress was ripped apart on the side. Pictures online were not what you actually received, very outdated and paid to much for what we got.

Review 97:outdated tv, no breakfast or coffee available...coffee maker did not work properly and creamer had to be very old.

Review 98:The view from our room, the cleanliness, the spaciousness of the rooms allowed room for children to play with toys, the street entrance with no stairs to climb since we had two little ones, hot water and good water pressure that is unusual for hotels

Review 99:Not the cleanest-found food and a tick on floor. Except for the bathroom which has been recently remodeled, the room was extremely outdated. The "view" was non-existent but could be great with some tree trimming and groundskeeping. The patio furniture is falling apart. No staff on site. Had to go to other hotel to check in/out.

Review 100:Location was great! With some TLC this could be the best hotel in the area.

Review 101:All the staff was downhill at the Quality Inn (same owner). Booking.com paid no attention to the handicapped notation and assigned us a room with a 15-20 degree down-slope sidewalk.

Review 102:Close enough to walk almost anywhere in Gatlinberg I wanted (she is too handicapped to partake), but far enough up the hill to be absolutely quiet. The staff, downhill at the Quality Inn, was very helpful and pro-active when the original room was totally unsuited for a person with walking difficulties. Luxury/Backpacker with Old World charm

Review 103:The first room we were given was horrible! It should be a closet, not a hotel room. The second room was larger but quite outdated. We also found someone else's clothes behind the night stand.

Review 104:If you are using theses accommodation for a place to sleep, while touring the smokeys it's ok, but if it's for overall comfort it would not be a first choice. No staff at check in, or any other time.

Review 105:The room was clean.

Review 106:If you plan on walking to the strip from here, know that there is a steep climb to get back to the hotel. Our rooms looked nothing like the photos, but still nice. One of the rooms looked to have been recently refinished while the other was dated and dingy. In the past, I'm sure the view was breathtaking, but the trees have grown to block the vista.

Review 107:The location was off the main drag making it peaceful. The staff was wonderful. Shout out to Joan and Barbara for being wonderfully helpful! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The heated bathroom floor was a nice surprise.

Review 108:One outlet worked in the whole room. The fan in the bathroom didn't work. Needs a little updating.

Review 109:I loved how close it was to everything but still was tucked away. It has character which I loved! No room is alike.

Review 110:My husband and I loved the quiet surroundings and not that far from the Parkway but has the atmosphere of peace which we were looking for. Staff was so helpful and nice making sure we had everything we needed.

Review 111:The room had a terrible mold smell. And was very unclean. Bugs all in the window seal along with bugs in the bathroom. There was no covers or comforter on the bed. Our 3 day stay was miserable while we was in the room. I do not recommend this chalet to anyone..

Review 112:The property was aged and not updated. It was mostly clean. While the cleaning staff was very nice and helpful the hotel lacked a front desk on site. You had to check in and out at the econo lodge at the bottom of the hill.

Review 113:Location was nestled in the side of the mountain close to the center of town. It was very quiet and peaceful.

Review 114:Had try with the door. Door was very hard to open and close. They change me twice on my debit card. It mess up me and my girlfriend trip

Review 115:The bedroom was nice. The location was good

Review 116:Rooms are a little outdated. Floors needed vacuumed behind chairs, tables and night stands.

Review 117:Friendly staff overall nice clean rooms. Nice view and location not bad.

Review 118:Bed ok, not great, ac was old like the rest of motel....office was closed Sunday morning when I went to check out.... don't know if they billed me yet or not ????

Review 119:Staff was great, left my own pillows and they are shipping them to me!!! Bathroom was brand new ....nice rest of room old !!! Over priced in the condition it is in now noeeds to be updated to charge 112.00 per nite !!!

Review 120:NO complaint at all

Review 121:the history of the inn was very interesting. We really enjoyed the location. Linda and other staff were very helpful. We plan to stay here again!!!

Review 122:Rooms need update. This is economy traveling.... It was clean, but old.

Review 123:Didn't realize how noisy, touristy Gatlinburg is. Location is quiet residential neighborhood. Pool is gorgeous surrounded by trees with beautiful stone work --not in the middle of a parking lot. Price was excellent.

Review 124:One room smelled of mold and mildew and the next room the AC was out. We turned it one and left the room for several hours. When we got back it was about 80 degrees in the room. They had no one on on sight to contact except for the other hotel with shared staff. They did replace the AC at about 10:45 PM and it was finally livable when we woke up but was time to check out. This was all at an expense of $104.00 for my time and trouble for one night.

Review 125:It was once very nice but is in need of an update.

Review 126:When we arrived, the AC had not been run at all and the room was very hot, it took several hours to be bearable. The property is up a rather steep hill and I am almost 7 months pregnant which meant I was unable to complete the short walk to the main strip of Gatlinburg.

Review 127:The room and the views were very pleasant.

Review 128:Rooms were clean but lamps were very shaky and need to be replaced. Pillows were great.

Review 129:Was close enough to attractions but far enough away from the crowds. Liked the pool.

Review 130:The hotel is very dated and need a TOTAL make over. Carpet old and smells awful. When I got to this hotel it smelled soooooo BAD. The room looked NOTHING like what I saw on the Internet.

Review 131:I didn't have a bad experience the only complaint I had was finding it I stopped at the econo long thinking that was it the arrow was pointing right to the office. The party in front of me did the same thing

Review 132:I liked the fact it was so quiet and peaceful.

Review 133:Always had to go down the hill to another hotel to get service... the air was extremely loud and quit working the 1st night, got no sleep..... seen several bugs (water bugs, ball bugs, spiders)

Review 134:It was a nice stay for the price.

Review 135:No breakfast, room needed to be updated, no one there when we checked in or checked out we had to wait 3 hours to talk to someone in the front office to check in, bed was horrible.

Review 136:The maid was very nice and helpful since there was never anyone in the front office

Review 137:We had to walk down a walkway underground to the rooms. The concrete was coming up and the hallway was dirty and dingy! Could not believe the condition of this facility!!

Review 138:Once in the room it was spacious but very dated!

Review 139:The bed was not very comfortable. Toilet needed extra care to be sure that handle returned to the nuetral position or would keep running. The bath tub had water underneath if that had bubbled up the floor.

Review 140:The room had two old chairs that had very large stains in them, as if someone had done their get it on in them. The room had a damp odor. We had to ask for another room. The room was clean and smelled better. The place is not what is shown in the pictures.
