Reviews for Rocky Waters Motor Inn
Review 1:One staff member Dan was rude. At check in he did not tell us where or when breakfast was or the WiFi code. Got a attitude when I called the desk to find out.
Review 2:Loved the location by the river.
Review 3:The young man that checked us in on Saturday night was very helpful and polite, jusy personally have a issue with people calling me sweetie, sweetheart. These comments should be kept on a very personal level not professional.
Review 4:The balcony overlooking the river. The jacuzzi tub and the fire place was just what we were looking for. A very great relaxing get a away, much needed.
Review 5:We had the worst room in the hotel. The door to the room literally opens right onto the sidewalk. Our bed was a few feet from the busy street and sidewalk with cars and people going by all night long. It was so loud there we had to put pillows over our heads to sleep.
Review 6:All was fine. Would have been great if breakfast was served at this location, but the walk next door wasn't bad at all. Might have tried the hot tub next door if it had been working...but ok.
Review 7:The staff was very helpful and nice. The room was comfortable and in a great location... the stream behind the hotel was very lovely.
Review 8:The parking is not the greatest. We left a tip for house keeping and a note, they took the money but did not leave extra towels. The couple above us needed to put his boots on every time to use the bathroom and that went on from 11pm to 5am.
Review 9:The fireplace was nice. The walk to the main part of town was short.
Review 10:Some construction issues. Tile broken; Fireplace screen broken and fell off. It was a good place to stay to sleep but it wasnt what I would call luxury
Review 11:Location
Review 12:Staff was super friendly and helpful. I grew up going to Rocky Waters with my family and now thoroughly enjoy staying here with my family. I love hearing the Little Pigeon River rushing by beneath the balcony.
Review 13:The room itself had some minor details that should be adressed.. nothing major really, outdated tile and carpet..
Review 14:I loved the atmosphere and local.. The views were breathtaking, relaxing and very serene..
Review 15:The tub would not drain, the ceiling was cracked all the way across and it advertises free breakfast BUT it's at another hotel, which was too inconvenient.
Review 16:The location is fantastic!!! The view of the little pigeon river was spectacular!
Review 17:The bed, it was terrible!! I have never slept on a bed so uncomfortable.I woke up in so much pain from the lumps in the bed, it was awful. Myhusband and I had to switch sides of the bed, when we first went to bed,it was so slopped, I was rolling towards him, when we switched, it wasbetter, not slopping towards him, but lumpy and uncomfortable.Definitely an old set. The hotel is a bit out dated, but okay. Ididn't care for the fact that the maid left a note asking for tipsfor cleaning the room... If that is the job, not sure why I'mtipping you to do it, since something extra wasn't being done for mespecifically, like what a waiter or waitress would do, actually doingyou a service, keeping drinks filled, etc., they are actually workingfor the tips, great service deserves great reward, or bad service not asmuch. Just my opinion, kind of didn't sit well with me, I paid $230+for two nights, which I should at any price, expect a clean room. I didleave a small tip, just thought it was rude. Also, I didn't care forthe fact that the hotel ran my card, charging me for the room before weeven arrived. That is why I book through Booking.com, so that I pay attime of service, not before. I know it was mentioned that this hotelcould do this, but I just didn't care for that. I expected to pay attime of arrival, as always everywhere else I have stayed throughBooking. I pay extra for that option in some cases, so I expect that tobe followed. Overall not the worst I have experienced or stayed at, butjust a few issues for me. Wouldn't opt to stay here again unless Iwas really in need, but not a planning on it.
Review 18:The two things I liked, the view of the creek from our balcony, and theamount of outlets in the room. It is hard to find hotels with extraoutlets these days, which seems odd with all of the technology that wetravel with these days, minimum we travel with 2 cell phones, iPad, andcamera battery that needs charged. Good luck usually finding somewhereto plug all of that, lol. This room had plenty though.
Review 19:The sheets and pillow cases were torn, with holes in them. The pillows and mattress were pretty horrible- the mattress was way too soft and springy. I was also disappointed that the pool/hot tub was closed the entire time we were there, even during normal pool hours. I had specifically called to ask about it one day before, and they told me it was open year round. We couldn't find the free breakfast the first morning. We found out the next morning that the free breakfast was actually in the hotel next door, which was weird.
Review 20:Location good- It was right on the main strip of Gatlinburg, within walking distance to everything. The river view balcony was nice.
Review 21:I didn't like to have to walk two blocks to another hotel to get free breakfast. I know what a continental breakfast was, but smelling bacon when I walked out the door made the breakfast a small disappointment. I also wasn't happy to pay upfront for a hotel stay.
Review 22:The view was nice over the river, and the location was close enough to walk to a lot of shops. Everything was clean.
Review 23:There was nothing bad about our stay. It was perfect.
Review 24:The rooms were very nice, comfy and clean. We loved the balcony with the river running by. It was really pretty. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you
Review 25:Although the hotel is in the process of renovating, existing furniture and fixtures are pretty worn, but room was very clean. Breakfast is a walk to the adjacent Days Inn.
Review 26:Wood-burning fireplace, in-room jacuzzi, right on the roaring creek with balcony, very comfortable. Completely private with nothing but trees across the creek.
Review 27:All was good
Review 28:Great location..enjoyed view of the balcony. Sound of rushing water. Parking included along with breakfast. Its been years since I have visited. I will come back! janice
Review 29:They say they have Wifi but do not believe it. It does not work. Specifically picked out this place because it had Wifi. You can connect to their WiFi, but no pages will load because there is not enough bandwidth or wifi equipment is inadequate.
Review 30:Toilets wouldn't flush, wifi was non-existent.
Review 31:The balcony was awesome overlooking the river. The parking was horrible, but we made it work. Would come back for sure!!
Review 32:Place very old and run down Needs repair Staff needs lessons in customer service
Review 33:Awful smelled like cigarette smoke Staff did nothing Left with all our stuff smelling like cigarettes and we don't even smoke Could not even enjoy our balcony
Review 34:Whilst all rooms do indeed overlook the river, as it is a small motel all rooms are also on the main road, whilst in our case the balcony looked out on the ramp used by everyone else to get to their rooms more than it did the river itself. Also, breakfast is in a different hotel!
Review 35:On a river, and close enough to Dollywood to get there in fifteen minutes without actually being in Pigeon Forge.
Review 36:Furnishings really need updating. Setting is lovely, town is not.
Review 37:Loved sitting on the balcony over the stream- nice to hear the water and escape the touristy circus atmosphere of Gatlinburg. Receptionists were helpful. Wonderful location for walking into town.
Review 38:The location of the breakfast and not really worth the walk. It was a little too much of a walk for older people to most of shops and restruants.
Review 39:The sound of the water. the covered parking.
Review 40:The desk clerk when we checked in was not friendly at all. We had to ask for new batteries in tv remote and for lightbulb to be replaced in bedside lamp.
Review 41:The bed was very comfortable. The room was nice and the fact that we could open the door and hear the water was great. Overall good experience. The housekeeping staff was friendly and efficient.
Review 42:Very old property in dire need of refurbishment. We had maintenance issues with the toilet and lights which were not attended to.
Review 43:It was in a very good position in Gatlinburg
Review 44:not really a bad experience, but would have been nice to have a desk or inside chair to sit at.
Review 45:location to Gatlinburg also the outside balcony, views front and back.
Review 46:I kinda was disappointed that the suite was on the bottom floor and you could hear people walking and moving around.
Review 47:I liked the balcony view, and the beds
Review 48:The room was nice but there was some burn marks on the carpet from the fire place and the door to the balcony was roughed up a bit.
Review 49:The bed was really comfy. Also the jacuzzi was fantastic.
Review 50:Change carpet, mattress, draperies had dust bunnies. Feet were black after walking on carpet for just a few minutes. Somebody needs to Do Some updating.
Review 51:Balcony over water
Review 52:Half electrical outlets did work.To use coffee we had to plug in at the sink.No place for luggage. We had to go to Days Inn for our breakfast.Parking location was terrible.Staff was Very Unfriendly.would not recommend.
Review 53:We had really drunk and noisy "neighbors" that we had to call on. Since their room was set up to adjoin ours, the noise level was very high both inside and outside. We called the front desk, but they were just really loud till about 3am and kept knocking into the door between rooms. I felt that at any moment they could come through the door and into our room.
Review 54:Creek view was nice.
Review 55:The room had an odor and wall plugs was in an unsafety state. Old type key entry.
Review 56:Nothing at all. The desk clerk wasn't customer friendly. I stated on my reservation that I would arrive early. and requested early entry. This request wasn't considered even though their sign stated Vacancy.
Review 57:They advertise free breakfast and a hot tub, but we had to walk around a 1/4 mile down the road to another hotel to get breakfast and hot tub. So we never used the hot tub. Very disappointed in that part but the overall stay was great.
Review 58:Most everything was great!!
Review 59:When we arrived, there were no towels and only 2 pillows for a king-sized bed. Easily fixed, but inconvenient for tired travelers getting in late. Also, another small thing, but the lack of sausage in the breakfast gravy was very surprising/off-putting to us both. The bathroom fan broke on our third day and so did the door and lock to the room as we were leaving to check out.
Review 60:The balcony view was beautiful and the proximity to the strip was very nice. Also, having 2 great restaurants and trolly stops right there made it all the more easy to enjoy our days.
Review 61:You had to walk to another hotel for breakfast poor choices of food. Bed was not comfortable. Toilet kept running when u flushed it so you had to remove lid to fix it
Review 62:Stream behind hotel
Review 63:Thought it was a little run down and needed some updates. Carpet needed to be replaced as it had burn holes from fireplace and was buckled up. We booked room for hot tub but it looked old and had rust spots. Not real appealing. We did not use the tub.
Review 64:The view off balcony was wonderful, the location convenient to everything and the bed was comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 65:First of all location their webpage says .03 miles from convention center this is not true it is farther Rocky Waters on outskirts of town second drink machine didnt even work had to walk a block down street to cross walk then back up to hillbilly golf to use their drink machine then 3rd continental breakfast free only if you walk a block and half to 2 down to the days inn to eat there continental breakfast shouldnt have to leave premises for such simple things
Review 66:Room was clean
Review 67:The room was small and no place too hang your clothes in bathroom when taking a shower or dresser table
Review 68:It was close too everything we wan't too see.
Review 69:The bed. The pillows. The "age" of the place. Too far from the shops & restaurants of any quality.
Review 70:View. The staff was friendly & helpful.
Review 71:when you walked barefoot on the carpet, you ended up with very black feet. also had a lot of flies in the bathroom. pool could have been cleaner as well.
Review 72:location and price - we had two adjoining rooms for the entire group. one room was better (cleaner) than the other. loved the private balcony.
Review 73:The rooms were old and musty. The pool was ok but the hot tub was boarded up instead of being fixed, so there is no hot tub. The breakfast is complimentary, but you have to walk down the street, across the stream to the sister-hotel, Days Inn, to get the breakfast. The Rocky Waters Inn is not worth the money.
Review 74:The rooms were clean but the pillows were worn out and didn't have a pillow case on them. I asked for an extra blanket, which I received, but it was very hard, old, and stiff. The service was good for what they had to work with.
Review 75:You had to walk to the associated hotel for breakfast, the tub was slippery stepping in, and the cobbled webs on the balcony.
Review 76:The hotel was clean, great view, quiet area, within walking distance of tourist attractions. 10 mins from pigeon forge. Staff was friendly. Couldn't feel more comfortable.
Review 77:Rocky Waters and Days Inn are owned by the same people so you eat breakfast at Days Inn wonderful biscuits and gravy just heat the biscuit in the microwave
Review 78:You pay for what you get. Badly outdated. Typical, not to let us in 'because the room isn't done,' but the air wasn't left on, even though they knew we were waiting for the room and it was really hot when we finally got in. No air in the bathroom, but constant heated floor. The light in the bathroom must have had a bad ballast, because the light strobed constantly. No iron. Pizza crust on the floor. Refrigerator dirty.
Review 79:The view and the location was great. Price was fine. Pretty much at the end of the Gatlinberg strip, I think it's about a mile away from the furthest thing to do, so in other words, everything is really close.
Review 80:They lost my reservation (booking.com didn't do their part) but they recovered it quickly. The rooms are very outdated, but at such a low price, I'm not expecting it to be perfect.
Review 81:I loved the view from the private balcony, very serene. There is an assigned parking spot for each hotel room. The pool is saltwater, so the chlorine didn't bother my child's eyes.
Review 82:One of the pictures we saw on their website showers an outdoor hot tub by the pool. Well, it has been taken out. You also have to walk to the Days Inn for your free breakfast. Which we did not do.
Review 83:enjoyed the jacuzzi tub and fireplace in our suite I think they calle it a spa room.
Review 84:The place wasn't like its pictures, Room was really outdated, No privacy on the patio. Bathtub seemed to need replaced. I called like 3 months ahead of time to make sure I got a room and I ask for two beds and they gave me a room with one bed. I won't stay there again.
Review 85:Great view and great walking distances to down town Gatlinburg.
Review 86:It is right on the street. Super noisy and the parking spot assigned to the room was terrible. It was almost impossible to get back on the road.
Review 87:I liked that we could walk to almost everything we wanted to see/do.
Review 88:We were not informed in any way, online or in person when checking in,that the fireplace was only for certain season. We accidentally foundout when we asked about firewood and how to use/open the flu.
Review 89:Loved the Jacuzzi with windows looking out to the woods and water. Roomwas comfortable, and even though it still looks a bit "dated"its been "remodeled" nicely painted and clean, other than theolder looking carpets.
Review 90:Did not have elevator. Had ramps which were lots better than steps, but a bit difficult for both of us. Would have liked ground floor room because of our difficulty climbing, but the balcony over the river made up for climbing to upper level
Review 91:Friendly staff, rooms were clean. Location was excellent for us, only blocks from 'the strip'. BUT OUR FAVORITE ASSET WAS THE BALCONY OVERLOOKING 'ROCKY WATERS', AND HEARING THE SOOTHING SOUND.
Review 92:Room needs updated..customer service not friendly..took forever to get in room lock not good at all, then we couldnt get out would not open
Review 93:The only good was the creek in the back
Review 94:Its a bit of a walk to the main part of the Gatlinburg strip. Also the parking spots was a tight fit. If you have a truck or a good sized SUV its a pain to park.
Review 95:The room was clean and staff was friendly. Liked it was next to the river.
Review 96:It is at one end of Gatlinburg while much of the stuff you do is at the other. Older hotel, however, it is lower priced than many others; we preferred to spend more money on the other items and keep the hotel cost low. Good value for your money.
Review 97:The only bad things I can say is you have to go to a seperate hotel for the breakfast.
Review 98:The room was very spacious. The hot tub was great. We loved the view from the balcony. So peaceful!! Loved hearing the water at night. The location was perfect. Will come here again if we come back this way.
Review 99:No breakfast
Review 100:This was a very nice budget hotel with large clean rooms and each had a balcony overlooking the river. Only a short walk from the main strip of Gatlinburg.
Review 101:Quiet place with a really nice view of the river. The price was the biggest attraction. I.m not very big on upscale hotels, we usually just sleep there anyhow.
Review 102:When we went to check out, we left early( 7:30 am) sign on door said "winter hours 7a-11p", at 7:30 door was locked and no staff was around to check out! Ended up leaving keys in room! Not a big deal but I was also expecting the continental breakfast before my 6 hour drive home, but didn't happen!
Review 103:Room was nice; jacuzzi, fireplace , porch etc!
Review 104:no bath towels were left in room and didn't realize this until I was ready to shower late at night.
Review 105:That it was next to river, had good cable, ready for check-in at 2:30, friendly person at desk, interconnecting rooms.
Review 106:I did not like that the maids didn't know how to speak English. It's been a few years since I have spoken it and it made it difficult and felt like I was accommodating them. Also, they gave us a towel that smelled like pee and didn't give US clean covers for bed. It would have been nice to know before hand that the hot tub wasn't working and that we had to walk to the days in for continental breakfast which wasn't very good. Lastly, the coffee pot broke in our room because it was so cheap. I tried putting the top back on and barely pressed down and the whole thing shattered.
Review 107:I liked the balcony, it was very comfortable and relaxing. Also, the bed was very comfortable--allowing my fiance and I to rest very well. The showers were very clean and got warm quickly, bathrooms were clean, room was, clean. The location was fantastic, easy access to everything, and we had plenty of privacy.
Review 108:The view from our room. Despite the motel being almost empty when we arrived, we were given a room on the farthest end so instead of a view of trees and riverbank, we looked directly into a junky shed on the property across from us. BUT, it was convenient to our parking spot and to some people that would have probably been more important. BTW, bring a pillow or two. Our king bed had one standard and two small square pillows. We got two more from Walmart.
Review 109:Liked the fireplace, spa tub, balcony over the water, clean spacious room. The linens were better than I expected and the bed was sooo comfy. The sound of the river was soothing and made for some great naptime!
Review 110:A lot of red flags and warnings about unsecured WiFi, and possible hackers when I tried to sign on. Did not use for this reason..
Review 111:Loved room, and view of river behind the hotel. Spa tub in room was great. Very roomie....
Review 112:The problem that we had was with the cleaning service. In the first day the lady that should have been cleaning knocked at 10:30 in our door and I told her to wait. Then she insisted on knocking and I answered that we will go out in 30 min. She did not know English so I tried in Spanish and she was very annoyed that she had to wait so much. After 10 min she knocked again and she just gave us new towels and this was all the cleaning. She never came back to clean. And there was an envelope on the table for tips: for what...for no cleaning? The hotel should be more attentive with this matter. The breakfast was to the hotel near by but this was not a problem for us.
Review 113:The hotel itself was ok. It was clean before we arrive, not so far from the center but not so close.
Review 114:Our room was not very clean, there was a cup left from people previous to us, we were alot farther from downtown then what we thought it would be, our room door would not lock.
Review 115:The price was great, the view from the balcony was amazing, we had a king suite so the jacuzzi was awesome. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Review 116:The water in the shower does not get hot enough. The shower curtain blows around the shower flooding the bathroom floor. It's like your fighting with the curtain through the length of your shower.
Review 117:Love the location & view
Review 118:The fireplace was nice idea however there wasn't a very good draft up the chimney. The smoke kept coming into the room.
Review 119:The hot tub in the room was great and it was lovely to be able to have the door open and hear the river all night!! It was convient to everything.
Review 120:We were in room 107, and I didn't like the two columns, the doors would not open on car if you pulled up to the curb.
Review 121:The king size bed, The balcony over the river was nice.
Review 122:Have to walk to other hotel for the free breakfast.
Review 123:We stay every year. It is an older motel but very clean and quiet. We sleep better here than we do in any other place we have stayed. We usually stay in places such as Hilton and Marriott and the comfort and cleanliness is just as good or better.
Review 124:Needs updating, very old accomodations, but good value for the location.
Review 125:Location was good and able to walk to everything downtown Gatlinburg. The River flowing by our window was pretty.
Review 126:Your microwave needs to be off the counter and put above the bar sink, we had rotten food in our microwave when we arrived. Also you need to have security cameras out in front of building, my truck was keyed right in front on office and damages are over $1700.00.
Review 127:Fireplace and the tub were great
Review 128:2 friges in room. 1 didnt work 1 door kept falling off. The bathroom light didnt work. It just needed to be up dated & maintaned.
Review 129:Sound of the rolling water off the balcony. Close to trollie. Good size room.
Review 130:I did not like having to walk to the other hotel to have the free breakfast and the pillows were not that comfortable
Review 131:The view off the balcony was amazing the location was great
Review 132:Fireplace didn't vent well, couldn't regulate heat on wall heater and front door didn't lock very well.
Review 133:Walking distance to town, over the river, nice jacuzzi and cheap.
Review 134:That we couldn't stay longer. Very relaxing sitting on balcony and listening to the water flow by.
Review 135:The sound of the river right outside our door. The location. The price.
Review 136:You can hear everything through the wall's, Heat was broke had to use space heater, Doors to room next door, no chain locks on doors,Road noise, will not stay there again!
Review 137:Lack of on site breakfast, the distance to the breakfast was to far when you just want to take it to your room and relax.
Review 138:The in room fire place was wonderful. The room was very clean and maid service the next morning while we were out did a nice job.
Review 139:No chain lock on the door and hard to adjust heater.
Review 140:Close to downtown shopping and restaurants, easy walking distance. Andbeautiful view overlooking the Little Pigeon River.
Review 141:continental breakfast could have offered a few more options
Review 142:friendly staff, the balcony view overlooking the river was great, comfortable bed, fireplace in room was nice
