Reviews for Canyon Inn Flagstaff

Review 1:Hairs on bed, stains on sheets and towels, smelled like a basement. I was itching and sneezing as soon as I walked in. Luckily I was able to buy some disinfectant spray from the natural grocers next door before I laid down or touched anything

Review 2:Location

Review 3:The heat wasn't on, had to plug it in and it was 16° outside. No coffee maker and the HBO channel didn't work.breakfast was minimal

Review 4:Overall clean and comfortable beds

Review 5:The shower head was very low. The heating unit was old and the temperature button had one setting high

Review 6:They managers made us feel very welcome and delightful to talk to. Also it was close to the old downtown which was so fun to visit and eat and shop.

Review 7:It is on Route 66, I mean ON it. The beds were very uncomfortable to my but my friend though it was fine. The breakfast offered is cereal, toast, and coffee; that's it.

Review 8:The rooms were recently renovated and the staff was very nice.

Review 9:N/A

Review 10:The location was exactly what we wanted! The Staff was beyond our expectations! Very considerate and helpful! The room was Clean and prepared for our arrival! I wanted to thank you for a wonderful stay!

Review 11:Staff was a bit grouchy. Free breakfast would have been great, but breakfast wasn't served until 7:30 and by that time we had to be on the road. Most places start breakfast at 6 or 6:30 am

Review 12:Price and cleanliness

Review 13:Mere feet from old route 66. Traffic noise early and late. Breakfast was basic. Plan to fill a plate and go back to your room to eat...

Review 14:Fridge and microwave were so helpful. Excellent flatscreen TV with lots of chanels.

Review 15:Hey, the property is older but in perfect location.

Review 16:The owner James greeted us with a big smile and an 'anything I can do to help' attitude. The property was very well cared for. The Canyon Inn team goes out of their way to make your stay pleasant and comfortable.

Review 17:When calling to get directions to the place as we were on our way into town from the Grand Canyon in total darkness we couldn't get a direction without reference to the university. There was no signage that either of us noted prior to getting to the "T" in the road with Hwy66 and made a left hand turn instead of a right hand turn that would of brought us to their facility within a block or two of the intersection mentioned previously. Not familiar with the location of the"U" we called the desk clerk/owner for direction and were getting nowhere, so in desperation we resorted to attempt to bring up the GPS on the cell phone we were calling from. In doing so, she may have over heard a comment that was not meant to be herd by the clerk, as we assumed the call was ended. Later, after finding the place by our GPS , while checking in with this person, she speaks softly to me with her back to me, while my travel companion was away from thedesk. Not looking her way while she was conducting her business, she udders something that didn't catch my attention at first, figuring she was having some problem dealing with the card I was paying with. Not so, as she became more direct when I did not respond to her first comment. She was upset by the way I dispatched my stubbornly held drivers license from my wallet. You would have thought I had hit her with it physically. She said I presented it "disrespectfully" and be careful what I say in response or we could be down the road. That's a first for me. I didn't present the license any differently than card I paid with, neither was disrespectfully in my view.

Review 18:Driving out on to main road from carpark.

Review 19:Clean comfortable, nicely decorated room. Parking. Helpful freindly manager. Can walk to historic area bars/restuarants. Laundry facilities.

Review 20:Close to the main street so room was a little noisy. No place for the kids to run around and burn off energy. Room was a little small. No place to set up a card or board game. don't bother with the breakfast.

Review 21:Heating/AC unit worked better tha most hotels. Bathroom was remodeled, but we were short on towels & soaps. WIFI worked well. Close to a lot of good restaurants. This hotel worked well for what we needed it for, a one night stop over. Wouldn't want to make it an extended stay

Review 22:the service was terrible, rudely reception very unpleasant place. The reception shouted at us because we ordered the place from booking.com, this is the worst place I ever been not recommend to go there and very surprised booking.com holding such place in their portfolio.

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:We have stayed here several times. The location, across from nau, isterrific. It is Americana all the way. James, an owner, is friendly andreally takes care of you.

Review 25:Room too small (the booking.com photo is too much wide-angel, but not real at all!), VERY NOISY! (just by the main route). Bed was really comfy but with strange squeaking overlay on it.

Review 26:Nice deco. Gravy and biscuits for brk, yogurt, apples, the rest was classic. Fridge+mw. Flagstaff is a cute little town.

Review 27:The receptionist who was there at our arrival was extremely unfriendly. She was annoyed by guests arriving and even made some bad comments when we asked a question.

Review 28:The owner is very rude, and unprofessional. She arrived on property and began shouting at the manger in front of guests. She also said and I quote "I don't care if the people have a booking by Booking.com, the room rates are full price." She also said if the people didn't like that, they can go some place else. Almost sure I will not stay here again because of the owner.

Review 29:The hotel manger, and assistant manager were very helpful, and have smiles for all guests.

Review 30:The clerk was so welcoming, she did alert me on carpet cleaning.check on me twice to make sure all was well. Clean, pleasant, updated for value even through holiday weekend.

Review 31:Not the most comfortable beds and the service is questionable.

Review 32:Great place for the price. If you are looking for something fancy, this isn't your place. Great since walking distance to local bars/social life.

Review 33:I couldn't find a single towel that wasn't stained with grease or something. The single pane windows invited the noise from the road so as to where it would have been quieter if someone was jackhammering inside the room. The beds and linens appear to have been purchased during the Carter Administration. A recent "remodel" appears to mean pictures on the wall and new particle board furniture.

Review 34:leaving was the most enjoyable experience I had during this stay.

Review 35:Charged my account before check in terrible confrontation with lady atcheck in made ne feel like crawling under a rock when I question her whywas I charged you all really need to do a better job screening hotelsthey dont care about your motto considering not using your web siteagain yelp reviews are terrible at this dump

Review 36:Laura & James were nice, very helpful, familar with the area and resturants. We had a short stay but enjoyed it. We will return and stay again in the Spring. W, Walker

Review 37:In my 15+ years of traveling all over the world, this the first time ever that I experienced the most rude and unreasonable owner/ manager/ motel operator. On my last night of stay in the motel, we were unable to get into our room because the keys didn't work. As the lights at the reception had already been dimmed (it was about 10pm), we decided to call to ask for a replacement key. To our utter dismay, the owner answered only after the second call and decided to scream at us for "calling more than five times" and scolded us for not informing her of our room number. The worst was she didn't even allow me to explain that we had only called twice and it was only answered on the second call. We couldn't even inform them of our room number as they decided we were rude having called them "five times"! He even used vulgar language on me. Plus, towels were old and had holes in them. I would never recommend anyone to stay in this motel.

Review 38:The location

Review 39:We were 2 families with young children and we arrived late in Flagstaff after flying from NY to Phoenix and driving to Flagstaff. The motel is right on a long road with all the hotels and restaurants. I feared to be bothered by the noise of the road but honestly we slept really well on very comfortable beds. The breakfast is simple. The place is very clean and it is a very good place to stay for one night on your way to Grand Canyon. I will stay again.

Review 40:Bathrooms could be upgraded a bit, though this is a minor issue. We had some issues with the lady from the reception desk, but that was quickly resolved.

Review 41:The motel is well located, and it has been refurbished recently, the rooms are spacious. Flagstaff as such is a very nice place, you can reach bar/restaurant area easily from the motel.

Review 42:Bathrooms need an overhaul,

Review 43:the outside and one story, parking in front of the room, you could sit outside there were little Tables ,couple chairs and some flowers, which was nice

Review 44:Laura - the Missus. A chatty Lady who made us feel right at home as soon as we got there. Her directions to the grand Canyon were bang on. We now know enough to want to come back to this area and I will use this place as a base.

Review 45:Bed could be better.

Review 46:It was an older hotel, but clean. we slept well. Breakfast was provided, but did not eat it. Nothing wrong just did not eat there. Bathroom was adequate for are needs. Would stay again.

Review 47:They advertised HBO but the channel didnt work on the TV. The lighting in the bathroom was strange and it had a mold smell.

Review 48:The bed was big and confortable.

Review 49:My boyfriend tried to check in. Staff told him he did not have a reservation. Apparently, when booking online at booking.com for my boyfriend it did not register the guest name and saved it under the credit card holder who was me. The owner did not offer to help, was telling me not to talk over him and hung up on me more then 6 times.

Review 50:Owner was very unfriendly and kept hanging up on me because I was trying to explain my situation. He stated I was talking over him and never let me finished telling my situation.

Review 51:Nothing.

Review 52:The room were nicely en recent redecorated. The room felt fresh and clean and the beds were firm and comfortable. It is a typical American motel but with a nice touch. Breakfas was small but sufficent.

Review 53:The wifi was a little spotty. I think our room was between two hotspots so neither of them worked very well. No other complaints.

Review 54:Our parents stayed a few blocks up and saved $10. It was worth the $10 for the huge upgrade this motel offered over theirs. It was much more comfortable, clean and spacious.

Review 55:As I checked in, I saw a staff starting a grill fire behind a parked car in front of the office. I made a comment with concern, isn't it dangerous to start fire so close to a car? As I walked into the office, the owner was yelling, you are a complainer. I cancel your reservation. Are you my father to tell me what to do. I am the boss here. I can do whatever I want to with my place, etc. He was yelling all the time. I was stunned and shocked.

Review 56:The shower was a little janky (head and faucet coming out of wall; really low shower head; tub caving in middle) but nothing that I would say had a negative impact on our stay.

Review 57:The bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was delicious (more/better options than the next hotel we stayed at). The guy at the desk was super nice and friendly, gave us a welcoming feeling right away.

Review 58:only minor quibbling was recently renovated but look closely and some shower heads coming out of drywall, etc a few minor things overlooked no big deal though

Review 59:comfortable beds, wifi, fridge and microwave, TV with lots of channels, very friendly front desk. Recently renovated. Would recommend and stay again.

Review 60:Everything. Location on an extremely noisy busy road. Rooms ok but a bit shabby and botched together. Found long dark hairs in both beds and I have blonde. Breakfast was rubbish only toast and coffee in polystyrene cups that had to be taken to room to eat. Air con very noisy and added to wagons and emergency vehicles passing by - no sleep at all. Glad to leave.

Review 61:The shower that had mildew and the pressure of the shower was minute. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows too stiff. I wished there was a fan in the bathroom, because the window was too high up to open.

Review 62:The room was clean and nice looking

Review 63:My motorcycle group of 12 booked rooms at this motel last January and the reservations were lost. More than half had to stay at another motel.

Review 64:The staff was very helpful and really tried to straighten out the reservation foul-up

Review 65:There is no insulation for noise and it is right on top of a very busy road. Office smells like a cigarette, white towels are gray. Noisy all night long.

Review 66:There was nothing we liked about this property

Review 67:Knob of shower tap sitting loose.

Review 68:This little old 1970's looking motel has been recently renovated and is offering very good rooms. We were welcomed by the friendly owner and offered a warm drink on check-in. The breakfast is standard for a motel. Overall we received very great value for money. The location of this motel is excellent. It's close to the highways to get you to the beautiful surroundings in Flagstaff. The motel is surrounded by many eateries that can be reached within a couple minutes.

Review 69:Right next to the road which can be noisy. Will wake you up instantly when other guests starts their car engine at the crack of dawn.

Review 70:Spacious rooms, large TV, good wifi. Close to downtown and shops (within walking distance) .

Review 71:I didn't like the fact that there was stuff on the walls Thatlooked like it had been there for quite a while plus they have remodeled the rooms but they needed to retexture most of the walls in the room especially the bathroom areas and the little bit better made would make a world of difference Little food for thought

Review 72:I like that rooms were pretty much revamped

Review 73:Door to room had one plus inch gap at bottom which let in the cold draft. Towels were stained and grungy.

Review 74:Free breakfast was ok, but not enough places to sit.

Review 75:The location is good, and while it's obviously an old motel it has been well maintained and redecorated. The breakfast was a nice touch, with homemade biscuits and gravy

Review 76:Tiny bathroom, some towels were smelly, pillowcases didn't look quite clean, soda machine was out of order.

Review 77:Early check-in provided after some consideration, nice guy at the reception trying to address all the needs, big TV set with a lot of programs. We didn't have any problems with the train noise at night.

Review 78:Older hotel but fairly well kept. It was a good place to spend a night. The breakfast that's included is good and has biscuits and gravy, cereal and toast.

Review 79:No breakfast which isn't a big deal for me...they had coffee that was good enough! Maybe some fresh fruit would be nice.

Review 80:The bed was very comfortable...I have back issues! It's located on Old Route 66 and by a train track so we thought it would be noisy but not a problem. Walking distance to some great breweries and restaurants. Staff was very friendly

Review 81:I've never ever ever had a proprietor of any kind of business, swear at me. A simple misunderstanding sent her spinning, and he just followed. Too bad. I Try to give small owners my business, rather than thebig chains. Not this time.

Review 82:Convenient to downtown, not that there's a lot of "downtown" in Flagstaff. Parking was adequate and the hotel manager is a really nice guy. Everything was neat, clean, and as represented on booking.com

Review 83:Laundry machine didn't work due to cold.

Review 84:Flagstaff is pretty cool! Lively town, nice craft brewers and restaurants, close to Grand Canyon. Hotel staff was very helpful. Breakfast was OK. The noise from the road nearby was limited in our experience; we did not lose any sleep over it (mid January).

Review 85:The Owner met me and my Mother in law at the door and immediately started complaining about the previous nights guests who had stayed over the night before because we arrived 15 minutes early. We left so they would have time to finish cleaning and returned 45 minutes later (she had requested 30 minutes). The owner then treated me with total contempt as if we were not worthy to stay at her motel. My brother in law who came into the office to defend his mother was threatened by the owners husband who she had called in. DO NOT STAY AT CANYON INN>

Review 86:A little way from the centre of Flagstaff but I believe it is near the university.

Review 87:The staff were very friendly on arrival and directed me to the nearest place to eat. The breakfast, which was set out in the reception was good with the local delicacy warm 'gravy' and biscuits.

Review 88:Lots of road noise, and it was difficult to maintain a comfortable room temperature, especially at night.

Review 89:Managers are friendly and helpful; they work hard to make the motel feel fancy on a budget.

Review 90:Unprofessional front desk person attended dressed in a towel fresh out of shower.

Review 91:Room was clean, well maintained. Wi-fi worked well, cable TV available.

Review 92:Carpets were dirty. It was obvious when we got in the shower. A generator or something in the back running all night. Wasn't real bad but a little annoying. Road noise was a little annoying. Overall stay for one night not bad.

Review 93:Location for us was good. Price ???

Review 94:The room was a work in progress- I'm sure it'll get there though.

Review 95:The staff was really nice and friendly. Pillows were super comfy. The location was great.

Review 96:Vending machine did not work. Breakfast area small.

Review 97:Looks a bit dated but nice room, clean and a comfortable bed. Within walking distance of downtown and railway station. Easy access to I-40 and 180 to Grand Canyon.

Review 98:We were worried that the highway position would be noisy but the room was comfortable and we didn't notice the traffic! An easy walk to good shopping!

Review 99:The couple who ran the motel were very helpful.... particularly when it came to sorting out an issue I had with a mobile phone provider There was a huge variety of hot and cold options for breakfast and again such a friendly atmosphere

Review 100:Parking was inconvenient since there was no way to keep others fromparking there. We lost our spot twice and had no where to go and it wasannoying since we paid to stay here. One of our beds had bodily fluidswhen we checked in it was pretty unpleasant to see that there.

Review 101:The male owner was an amazing guy I feel so bad that I cant remember hisname at the moment. He was an awesome guy so helpful and nice hisattitude made me want to come back, I wish I could say the same for hiswife. She made me feel as though I was a burden in her office, Godforbid I come in to ask questions when I paid for the room.

Review 102:The first night the traffic kept me awake and the owner was out chatting to people loudly at my door at like 1/2am. Second night was great so I'm assuming it was a one off.

Review 103:Really nice motel, friendly staff, good location.

Review 104:Traffic can be bad at times making it difficult to get in and out of property, but that isn't the Motel's fault

Review 105:The Motel is directly across from the NAU campus. There are places to eat within walking distance and a great Organic/Whole Foods grocer directly behind Rooms are clean and Continental Breakfast was pretty good If you are a pretentious entitled twit, this is not the place for you. Go across the street and pay $189/night - leave this little gem to those of us who appreciate good value

Review 106:Absolutely horrible WiFi.

Review 107:The Canyon Inn is located right on Route 66 so it was great for us since we were doing the "Route 66 Tour". We were within walking distance to several eateries and bars and location was near to the campus. Breakfast was fantastic with homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, not the stuff you get in the chain motels. If going that way again I would stay there one more time.

Review 108:Owners increased price over bookings.com reservation and then acted incredulous when I brought it up. After 10 uncomfortable minutes of them telling me to go somewhere else if I thought I could do better they refunded me the overcharge. Also road noise is very bad.

Review 109:Close to downtown

Review 110:They need to mark the parking spots with numbers that coincide with the room numbers. We came back late one night and didn't have a parking spot. They told us if that happened again, just to park under the awning. Very nice people, just need a solution to the limited parking spots to make sure guests have a place to park.

Review 111:The owners were very friendly to myself and my mother, who was traveling with me to drop my daughter off for her Fresman year at NAU.

Review 112:Not the cleanest, not a lot of extra space, and the saddest towels I've ever seen. We bought earplugs for sleeping due to loud road noise.

Review 113:For the price, this was an ok place to spend the weekend. The owner/manager was one of the nicest people I've ever met, and that really influenced my opinion of this hotel in a positive way. Good location to walk into town, and my son enjoyed the free breakfast.

Review 114:the street is in reality the 89 so bit noisy from the street but quiet between rooms

Review 115:staff is friendly, room very clean and has been updated nicely (furniture ans bathroom)

Review 116:* Inadequate parking when fully booked * No gluten free options for breakfast (however, Flagstaff has amazing breakfast/food options throughout the city)

Review 117:Overall, we had a good experience. It fit our needs of being clean and having a decent bed. For us, it was more about the location and visiting Flagstaff. * Friendly, funny staff(the Flagstaff vibe) *Great location for going downtown and visiting attractions *Clean and partially renovated (shower could use an upgrade) * Reasonably priced

Review 118:No coffee machine in the room and the breakfast was served in the small reception area. But the breakfast was good.

Review 119:Great value and on route 66. Within easy reach of the Grand Canyon. And I loved the retro look.

Review 120:Classic Motel layout - just as expected. Friendly service from reception on check in and at breakfast. Breakfast was very good - home cooked biscuits and sausage and gravy and a variety of the usual fayre. Room was well decorated and had excellent bathroom facilities. Room included TV, fridge and microwave.

Review 121:Milton road is noisy, it comes with the location. .. the towels were dingy, but everything else about the property was very clean and well kept.

Review 122:My girlfriend had a medical emergency while we were at the hotel. We were unable to leave the following day due to her condition. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and helped us the following night. I couldn't ask for more!

Review 123:they have done a partial remodel but they need to get new mattresses and towels. the shower head was so low you had to really bend down to wash your hair.

Review 124:Convenient location, wasn't too noisy.

Review 125:Nothing...

Review 126:The room and beds were very comfortable, especially for what we paid for! Excellent value. We arrived at Flagstaff around midnight since we were traveling on the Southwest Chief train and it was running late. We were originally booked at their sister property but when I tried calling to let them know of the late check in, there was no answer at the front desk. Worried that we wouldn't have a place to sleep, I called booking.com's 800 # from the train. They reached the owner of the hotel at home and were able to accommodate us at Super 8 which they also own. Glad I had booked with Booking.com!

Review 127:nothing particular

Review 128:Comfortable beds, good WIFI, friendly and helpfull discrete staff, very reasonable breakfastcomfortable parking and very close to the old City center,

Review 129:No rod to hang clothes in king room. Back window did not open.

Review 130:Outstanding complimentary breakfast featuring sausage and biscuits. New and attractive remodel ofvold property with state of the art flat-screen tvs. Bed was very comfortable with good pillows.

Review 131:there were multiple strands of long hair on both beds and in the bath tub.

Review 132:The heater smelled bad when we first turned it on.

Review 133:A very nice place
