Reviews for Hekimoğlu Hotel

Review 1:Good value, friendly staff. Basic rooms, but good value for money. Maybe pack earplugs, very thin walls and one night my neighbour was up till 5am watching some Turkish TV drama very loudly:) Good little eatery downstairs.

Review 2:Street is torn up for repairs (October 2015), so access & parking are a challenge.

Review 3:Good location in central Erzurum. Lots of lokantas in the neighbourhood for dining out cheaply.

Review 4:Shower in a washroom style which with no divide meant for a soggy bathroom.

Review 5:Really friendly staff, clean and neat room and good location a few miniutes from the centre of town. Also they let me leave my bag for an hour after I check out which was great!

Review 6:The small double rooms can be a bit cramped for a couple. If given the option, take the triple for the same price and push two of the beds together.

Review 7:Staff was wonderful and helpful.

Review 8:Small rooms, poor finishing and maintenance, poor breakfast, wear and tear. I wouldn't say that our time there was too bad, but it surely was not proportionate to the price: given the moderate quality of this hotel, it's way over priced than it should be.

Review 9:We stayed in Hekim Oglo for only one night to catch our train next day. The staff was friendly and the location was good (also like every place in Turkey, cleanliness was very good). Other than that, don't expect much. The place was very poorly maintained, showed much wear and tear, had the worst finishing quality in the world, with rooms smaller than you could imagine, and offered a breakfast that was closer to being poor than good. The shower end piece broke when it accidentally fell from half a meter high and I had to pay TL10 (which isn't much, the the point is that it broke so easily) and the sing was loosely attached to the wall and seemed about to collapse any minute or the moment you make a not well calculated move. I wouldn't say that our night was too bad for the our purpose of spending that sole night to catch next day's train, but if you're looking for something really comfortable, then this is surely not the one.

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:We were unmarried young couple but had no problem checking in here and were not charged extra! (other hotels in Erzurum seem to have problems with unmarried couples.) The hotel is clean and has decent facilities. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel has a restuarant downstairs with good food.

Review 12:very small room.no space to turn/walk around. no air-conditionner . bathroom didn't have a shower stall, just open wet room. Breakfast was poor . Bath room is small, Shower is next to toilet without shade and with loose piece.

Review 13:good location near the center and restaurants. friendly staff. .

Review 14:The receptionist couldn't speak a word of English but his exceptional friendliness more than makes up for it. A Turkish phrasebook (from Wikitravel) is more than sufficient for all your needs. Breakfast is standard Turkish fare; nothing too spectacular but nothing to complain about either. The location is about a 20 mins walk from the main street with the Seminary and mosques. Good wifi in the rooms too.

Review 15:Extremely poor breakfast, lots of flies in breakfast area, staff speak no Englush at all, no English-language TV chanells

Review 16:Very respectful, polite and friendly staff, Big rooms,

Review 17:Rooms are clean but very tiny Breakfast was ok but not fresh enough, below average compared to turkish standards

Review 18:Hotel staff doesn't speak english but is very very friendly and helpful Good location in Erzurum We could check in at 7 am. Very few hotels in the world allow that!

Review 19:The room is too small and it was not clean enough. Moreover there was no airconditioner in a so hot region in summer. The most disappointing thing happened in the restaurant on the ground floor which belongs to the hotel. When we had dinner there, as they didn't have the menu (or they didn't show it us) we ordered directly indicating the food in the kitchen. After finishing the meal, when we asked the bill, they gave us just the total amount without any breakdown of price. So we had to bargain. It was really unpleasant experience.

Review 20:None

Review 21:The reception staff is warm and friendly, though no English is spoken. Single rooms are small but not cramped, and clean. The hotel is 5 min away from the Yakutiye Medrese museum and the main street along which are most of Erzurum's monuments. Many restaurants nearby.

Review 22:Staff was friendly

Review 23:Good lication, nice staff, safe.

Review 24:Breakfast, dirtiness, staff.

Review 25:Nothing except location, just needed a one-night stay in Erzurum.

Review 26:Wifi interupts, bathroom could be better equipped

Review 27:Central location, close to trainstation, Restaurant

Review 28:Very good location, close to the city center, very kind receptionists, cheap price, good breakfast

Review 29:Very kind people at the reception, restaurant in the same place, very close to the city center

Review 30:Tiny room, bathroom didn't have a shower stall, just open wet room. Breakfast was poor and although told it would go on until 10 a.m. there was almost nothing left by 9.30 a.m. Overcharged when manager converted to TL

Review 31:walking distance to sights. Close to a much better hotel where we spent two comfortable, even luxurious, nights for only 30TL more - go to The Grand Hitit!

Review 32:Although comfortable and clean, my double room was a little small.

Review 33:I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable after a long journey. The staff spoke little English, but we managed to communicate with no problems. They were very friendly and accommodating indeed. The hotel is above their restaurant so the food was good, especially the soup. Also it was much quieter at night than I'd expected. Recommended.

Review 34:Rooms were not overly clean - floors and washrooms. Toilet room was quite smelly (yuck - plumbing needs some work) and curtains fell on us when we tried to close them. We get that this area is trying its best to build tourism and the people are lovely - they could do a better job of keeping up the rooms in order to help that along.

Review 35:Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast, although the same every day, was fresh and local food.

Review 36:Room is very small, with double bed, no space to turn/walk around. Bath room is small, Shower is next to toilet without shade and with loose piece. Booking in Euro pay in Turish lira, X rate is confusing.

Review 37:The heater is working well. It's warm in the room.

Review 38:Nothing really although perhaps it might undertake some small re-investment.

Review 39:It is a friendly little hotel close to the centre of Erzurum with a restaurant attached. The staff make you feel welcome. The facilities are fairly basic but satisfactory - luxury it is not.

Review 40:--Price: could be lower for the quality experienced--paying for the location perhaps... --Hotel room: spartan, small room (3m x 3m) with double bed placed in the corner. Barely any place to put a suitcase! TV did not work (not that we would have understood it!), supplied beverage glasses had not been replaced from previous guest (one had dried residue covering the inside--icky). Only stayed one night, so it was tolerable. --Restroom: shower/sink/sit-down toilet combination. Need to put toilet paper someplace "safe" so it doesn't get soaked when you take your shower! Wear the supplied shower shoes if you have qualms about bare tile floors.

Review 41:--Breakfast (kahvalti): not opulent, but the black/green olives, bread, honey/margarine/chocolate spread, cheese, boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers and soup (yes, soup!) were filling and nourishing --Staff: helpful with marginal English, fantastic Turkish speaking skills! --LOCATION! Great spot to walk to any of the recommended destinations in Erzurum: Three Tombs, the Citadel, Twin Minaret Seminary, and the Do-Not-Miss (and not in guidebooks) Erzurum Evleri

Review 42:Even thought the hotel is not modernly decorated, it still had clean sheets and towels and a comfy bed.

Review 43:The hotel is situated towards the top of a hill across from a gas station and above a restaurant. A 10 minute walk around the corner and up the hill will take you to a nice public square with a museum and mosque. There are a lot of shops and restaurants in the area ranging from doner carts to high class dining. There is an outdoor shop also nearby called Alpin sports with everything you need for the outdoors if you are in the area for camping and hiking. The hotel itself has small but tidy rooms and a decent sized bathroom. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and its location in the city was never a problem with noise. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant was nice to have close by. No problems with the internet. There is a small grocery nearby that sells bulk items and smaller single items. We enjoyed our stay!

Review 44:Bathroom was not as nice as we would like, some mold on tiles and toilet was old and stained. No aircon ,but even in July, it was acceptable with window open...about 16c at night. Rooms smelt of smoking. (common in Turkey )

Review 45:Hospitable manager, clean rooms with big fluffy towels. Hotel has its own Lokantsi restaurant , and food was good.Good area with Efes beer shop and supermarket nearby.Parking available in back street behind hotel. Accepted visa for TL210 for 2 doubles for one night.

Review 46:The staff is very friendly and helpful (yet don't speak English). We arrived by motorbike and they helped us to park the bikes in the sight of their security camera. Also, we asked for separate beds, after which they gave us a 3persons room while we are only with 2. The bathroom was simple but clean and well maintained. Internet in the rooms works well too.

Review 47:Rooms very close that I can hear tv in the next room - very small room -The showers sink (Sump) was misplaced, so the bathroom was filled withwater after taking a shower

Review 48:An Excellent Restaurant for dinner (for extra fee) and veryfriendly Staff

Review 49:Rooms are very small and basic: tiny window, no bedlamp, small desk with no chair. No shower tray or curtain, so the water gets all over the bathroom. In the morning, had to wait more than five minutes for the hot water. Probably a good choice for backpackers, but I shan’t be staying here next time I visit Erzurum.

Review 50:Conveniently situated between the station and the town historic centre, located above a restaurant with the reception desk in the dining hall. Good breakfast buffet in the restaurant.

Review 51:not far from center friendly staff let me check in early at 6 am

Review 52:ne parle pas anglais

Review 53:siuation

Review 54:The room was small yet very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good.

Review 55:friendly

Review 56:Food was bad and they overcharged us and refused to concede a fair rate.

Review 57:Good location

Review 58:The Hotel itself was nothing special but the staff was outstandingly kind, therefore I recommend a stay for budget travellers. :)

Review 59:Food options wre too meat orientated.

Review 60:Very welcoming and friendly staff. Excellent central location, Erzurum is friendly and fascinating city.

Review 61:Little to no English spoken. Best for lower middle Turkish travels. Uncomfortable atmosphere for us.

Review 62:A hotel with a reasonable standard that is suitable for a short stay.

Review 63:The location .the food .The staff even though they could not speak Tnglish
