Reviews for Western Holiday Lodge

Review 1:Needs updating. Dingy, dark. I wouldn't stay there again.

Review 2:Three Rivers is a beautiful little town very close to the Sequoias. The location of the hotel was very nice. Breakfast was good.

Review 3:The check-in was unpleasant, very unprofessional staff. WIFI was not working. The whole complex was pretty run-down from what I saw. Our room including the bathroom was not very clean, uncomfortable and way too old. The heating was so loud we couldn't even sleep. Without heating it was getting so cold in the room, we felt like the windows were open the whole night and it was winter! Horrible night!

Review 4:Close to Sequoia National Park

Review 5:Sink didn't work Carpet was completely wet Heater was old and noisy Towels were dirty The hotel wasn't full and the gave the worst room for us. Difficult to understand, maybe all the rooms are terrible and they don't have many options.

Review 6:Near Sequoia Park

Review 7:Unpleasant check-in, nothing worked: wi-fi, washing machine. The room and the bathroom was so unwelcomely cold we didn't even want to undress. We specially carefully planned the place to make our clothes wash after several days spent in the parks; however, the washing machine didn't worked. The reception staff couldn't wait to get rid of us and get back to their own business with the family which lives behind the wall, and the smell of their cooked dinner meets you as soon as you enter the lobby.

Review 8:Overall nice hotel spoiled by poor staff

Review 9:We didn't like anything from this place. Had bed bugs, no wifi, dirty bathrooms, very unprofessional staff, dirty rooms feels like a cheap motel which the prices didn't seem like it. One things for sure last time we go and stay at a flee bag motel. Wish I can give this place a -5 stars.

Review 10:It was the worst place I ever stayed! Not what was shown in pics on booking page. Dirty (the room was not even vacuumed!!), breakfast a joke, the staff didn't help at all with simple questions, like, what is a good place to eat or places to visit. I had to call 911 on Dec 31 around 7pm (my son who is 7 years old got an allergic reaction and needed some medicine) , after one of the employees told me I had to drive 35 minutes way to find the closest place to buy Benadryl! When the help got there I was informed that 1/2 of a mile way from the lodge it was a market where I could have bought Benadryl! I hated! :/

Review 11:Nothing

Review 12:We didnt get to try the morning breakfast. I did not like that when we went to breakfast room was very crowded with people and we had to go elsewhere. (No chance of grabbing anything)

Review 13:We arrive at the hotel around the 11th night. According to what we paid and where the hotel was we were well pleased and we will definitely return. There are very clean and cozy rooms. I really do not find anything to criticize my stay and experience was phenomenal.

Review 14:Breakfast slightly too basic.

Review 15:Staff was very helpful and kind. I went with my eight relatives and we had an amazing time by the Sequoia National Park. Would stay there again.

Review 16:Had to ask for tp and coffee. Needs new bedding and paint. Could use new tv.

Review 17:Nice quiet and clean. Beautiful surroundings. The price was good. Spacious. Good to have fridge & microwave.

Review 18:We found a bug in a bed, the roll away bed was really soft and uncomfortable, the ice machines didn't work and the breakfast area was bare bone the minimum I have seen

Review 19:They had rooms available and the locations

Review 20:Not exactly a bad experience, but I did expect cleaner more updated rooms for the price per night. The market rate is way off (though it appears they are working through room renovations with projects both in progress and in the works). Internet access did not fully materialize in the building we were located, so planning for our exploration days at the National Park was tedious.

Review 21:The staff was warm and welcoming, and we even arrived much later than expected due to traffic in the LA area. The physical location is good-the property does not feel cramped, the two room suites are perfect for families and roomy and laid out well.

Review 22:There was a mouse in my room. I actually found it in my bed, running in circles. It took me an hour to catch it but I could not. I made several pictures and showed that to the front desk. She looked upset (more as in wow thats horrible Im happy it wasn't me) and offered me another room. The room was in a completely different building so at 22:00 I had to pack my stuff and transfer that to the other building, no help was provided what so ever. In addition it was called an upgrade however an extra couch in the room at that time of night is not really an upgrade is it. I have written two emails after my stay to give them a chance to make this right but not a single answer. Overall the rooms are big but old and in general the price/quality is bad. I suggest staying somewhere else. Poor customer service and poor hygiene.

Review 23:Its relatively close to the entrance of the National Park

Review 24:Wi-fi in office area only.

Review 25:Nice location (Don't expect cell service anywhere in town.) Great base for exploring the Sierra Nevada's and the Sequoia National Park. It's actually on the river, but separated by a dyke and what appears to be a dry lake bed. Take a walk down to the river -- it's lovely. You can cross the dyke behind the hotel (no rocks, there.)

Review 26:Wonderful staff that pays attention to details and is warm and welcoming. The location near the Kaweah River is perfect to hear the roar of the water and enjoy the view of the hills behind the facilityl

Review 27:The staff realised we'd made an error with our booking and held the room for us and were happy to change our room to give us two beds instead of one. Very comfortable, good pool, good breakfast.

Review 28:No running water, Dirty bath, Dirty sheets, Dirty carpets, everything in super low maintenance, The next morning we escaped to a different hotel. Heard from another guest about bed bugs here and I'm not surprised... If I could give this place a 0 score I would!!! We chose this place between other options in the area based on the reviews score, but this MUST be a scam because NO way this place could get a score of 7. STAY AWAY !!!!

Review 29:NOTHING

Review 30:Everything was very simple. Like any other motel. Breakfast was basic. Air conditioner not easy to use and loud.

Review 31:Location on the main road. Big and clean room.

Review 32:Claimed to have internet, but didn't. Old rooms, old carpets, old towels, old bedding. Pictures on the internet are not what you get. Over priced for what you got, but since there aren't too many options, they take advantage of you

Review 33:location was good because it as close to the park e were visiting

Review 34:The room was extremely dirty and the bed was infested with bed bugs. We were exhausted after a very long and arduous drive and it was late at night or we would have never checked in .After we were settled in our room we did discover there were bedbugs. When we checked out the next morning and explained why we were leaving the woman at the desk listened to our explanation as if having bed bugs was a common experience!!!!!!

Review 35:Rooms weren't clean (but the cleaned extra after request) and totally run down (very old dirty painting on the walls, shower made a horrible noise, fridge made more noise than it cooled) breakfast was on plastic plates and of poor quality (orange juice was clearly thinned with water, etc)

Review 36:Location was not too far from Sequioa park entrance. Pool was a +, allthough in same rundown state as the rest of the hotel.

Review 37:The hotel is not 5 min driving from sequoia park as it is noticed on the website Old interior design

Review 38:The Space of The bedroom The pool The breakfast

Review 39:Breakfast is virtually non existent, and the smell of exotic food in the lobby is very strong.

Review 40:The hotel is ok, just about. The setting is nice, but our room was very special - definitely too much for our tastes. We had the "hotel". I have peeped into other adjacent rooms when they were being cleaned and they looked nicer.

Review 41:No Wi-Fi signal at all. Not only in the room, but anywhere.

Review 42:Very large room, huge comfortable bed. Balcony with table and chairs. Fridge, microwave, hairdryer. Beautiful interior in the "forest style". Free parking. Clean pool, it was nice to take a dip. Delicious breakfast with waffles and muffins. Very friendly staff, always ready to help. Awesome ecology, smells of the forest, raccoon and rabbits walking at the hotel territory :)

Review 43:Going to hike in Sequoia National Park, this location is too far ! The staff is not welcoming and we had a terrible experience ,we booked 3 month before our stay and we got a horrible room ( air conditioning too noisy and not working , a lot of spider on the ceiling and insect in the room , looks like nobody cleaned or stayed here) , they didn't want to give us another room, claiming there isn't any free, around midnight after argumentation and for them effectively checking the facts , a room freed! Really bad service and customer experience , don't bother , go and look in the Comfort In hotel next door which is a hotel chain with reliable service!

Review 44:We slept here yesterday and are now covered with bed bug bites! I'm afraid we brought them with us because last night we got more bites (and we are in a very nice hotel now). Consider the holidays ruined. DON'T GO HERE!!

Review 45:You only pay for the location, but there are other hotels/motel closer by.

Review 46:Toilet flushing difficult. Door to balcony would not lock (we were on second floor). Carpet not terribly clean. TV would not work the first night. By the second night it worked, but only in letterbox with closed caption on. Very few channels and no channel list provided.

Review 47:If the hotel owned has some budget, it's time to update the decor.

Review 48:I traveled with my parents / family and there's no option like that in this survey / review by Booking.com. Anyway, the room was huge with two comfortable queen size beds, a microwave, a sizable mini refrigerator and a large desk--perfect for 3 or 4 people. Parking is easy. We didn't bother to try the Wi-Fi since we have 4G on our phones. The continental breakfast was adequate.

Review 49:The water of the pool and spa was quite dirty and for this reason we didn't take advantage of the pool.

Review 50:Location was fine, quite near to the Sequoia National Park. Room was big.

Review 51:Bathtub didn't drain well. Carpet a little dated, but that's all!

Review 52:Great location and layout of property ie location of pool not right on the road. Really beautiful views! Breakfast could have been a little better w/some protein. One and only complaint is that the shower didn't drain well. Although it is an older facility the property is beautiful and has an area to sit under the stars... Really enjoyed this location and minutes to Sequoia with restaurants and markets nearby. Queen w/ two queen beds room was huge! Close enough to Visalia (25 minutes) to see a late movie. Overall, had a great stay (3 days) and would stay here again!

Review 53:No stoppers for sink or tub, tub had been repainted and it was peeling, you could here every sound from the room above us. 1970's motel in need of upgrading.

Review 54:The place was very tired and kind of shabby. No screen on the dirty bathroom window. Skimpy with towels.Poor breakfast. Pool is nice but small.

Review 55:Close to Sequoia National Park.

Review 56:Looked like it wasn't cleaned properly from previous visitors. Soap was already opened when we got into the room and we found hair in bed. Wi-Fi wasn't available in room - only outside.

Review 57:The shower looses all power and heat whenever someone else in the motel flushes and then comes back so hot it burns you. Spider webs everywhere!! On the windows,on the walls, in the bathroom, on the chairs outside on the ceiling. The maid came and took our towels and never gave us any back. When I went down to ask I still didn't get any for over 2 hours. They put some kind of super strong air freshener in the Ac unit that is so strong it burns your nose.

Review 58:Close to the park

Review 59:Grounds had a ton of gopher holes (I.e., trip hazards); out of ice in ice machines one day; flies all around breakfast area and outdoor eating area; breakfast could have been restocked more frequently. Overpriced for what you get but given the area options are limited.

Review 60:Beds seemed comfortable.

Review 61:not enough towels for the number of people staying in room, we had to request additional towels, and for a second time after room service. had to request pillow for pull bed. they responded quickly and I am pleased in the end.

Review 62:good breakfast

Review 63:The carpets were FILTHY. Our feet would be black on the bottom after walking around for just a few minutes. Bathroom paint was peeling, room was very small and dingy. Lots of little bugs in the bathroom, and terrible water pressure.

Review 64:Beautiful location, friendly staff, decent pool and breakfast, refrigerator and microwave in room.

Review 65:Breakfast was very basic and we could not get wifi. Room was okay, but bath had little bugs that came in through screen all over the place. In their defense, it is in a remote area and must be hard to maintain. Once a month extermination may help?

Review 66:Great place in it's hay day, but maybe a little tired now. Pool and hot tub were okay, but again older. Landscaping was nice. Very convenient to Sequoia/King's Canyon National Park! Had kind of a cool 70's vibe. Feel like owners are in a tough spot with severe water shortage, but keeping it maintained.

Review 67:Spiders and bugs in room! Need to spray more. More privacy on patio. The pool needed cleaning.

Review 68:Separate rooms. We asked for two queen beds and it was like a little suite. Also the breakfast was nice.

Review 69:Cleaning of the room was insufficient, breakfast room was much too small to host people wanting to take breakfast

Review 70:Location is convenient near Sequoia National Park

Review 71:Wifi does not work in the room. Did not answer my questions in advance of visit. (via booking.com)

Review 72:Nice view on the hills from the room, good location for sequoia national park visits, parking space, big king sized beds, big room, air conditioning, fresh waffles for breakfast

Review 73:a bit overpriced. should offer continental breakfast til 10. We are on vacation. Wi-fi not in rooms.

Review 74:It was nicer than I expected from the pictures I saw on line.

Review 75:Small breakfast room. Hardly any toiletries.

Review 76:Good location close to Sequoia NP, spacious room and perfect Wifi. Breakfast with waffles and sufficient variaty

Review 77:When the first word they say at reception is "credit card" you get already an idea about the attention for the customer and the attention for the quality of the service they offer. They claim they have a pool but it is just dirty water bath, they claim to have internet but forget to use it. It simply does not work. And pay attention because there is no phone line so internet should be fundamental. The room is super old, super dirty, the tv remote control did not work and the cable tv has very bad quality of transmission. The water from shower and sink smells very bad, I have used the bottle water even to brush teeth. Avoid this place

Review 78:I liked the moment I checked out.

Review 79:we had to ask for sufficient towels. We had to ask several times for a privacy card to hang on the door, finally hung a piece of paper ourselves. Very poor T.V. reception and the WiFi was very slow. It was hot in the room even with the very noisy ac running. There were spider webs in the shower and the corners of the bath room were filthy. The breakfast was very lacking there fore we ate out. I would never stay here again. We only slept and showered in the room. We were gone all during the day. We ate all our meals out.

Review 80:We were close to our intended destination.

Review 81:Breakfast wasn't the best as there wasn't much space in the dining area. The first night we had to eat elsewhere as it was so packed. The following days were okay though.

Review 82:Friendly staff and great location. A clean hotel in beautiful surroundings. The pool was lovely too. Having chairs outside our room was a great idea.

Review 83:Rooms were very dirty & smelled like mildew. Bed was very unconfortable.Staff had a difficult time giving us 4 sets of towels for our family of 4. Pool is filthy. Breakfast was terrible. Expensive for what we got.

Review 84:Location.

Review 85:Water smelled like gas and didn't seem sanitary. Pool did not seem very clean.

Review 86:Close to entrance of Sequoia National Park. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was good.

Review 87:Cleanlines definitely lacked. Slow running tub, and toilet clogged. 3 of 4 of us did not take showers due to the hairs and dirt. Stains all over carpet and bedding....eeewwww!!

Review 88:Leaving!!

Review 89:The facility is simple but clean and comfortable. The staff was nice. The WiFi is included and is quite good and is reasonably fast considering there is no mobile service in the area for Verizon.

Review 90:Carpet was filthy - and I mean filthy. Staff were lackluster to the point of rudeness. If it wasn't for the location this place would have no visitors because the rooms and service were terrible. The internet cut out constantly as well.

Review 91:The room with two queen beds was too crowded for 2 adults and 2 small children, it was the same size as the room with one queen bed.

Review 92:The pool, the helpful staff, the breakfast, the location near the park.

Review 93:Ants in room, shower head dad so much build up it only could spray about 5 streams, major cob webs in lights, room smelled very bad could tell by all the air freshener , mattresses ver hard, garbage cans on property were constantly overestimating filled and garbage on ground

Review 94:Area, and pool

Review 95:Bathroom shower was dirty and not working properly. The handle was broken. Pillows were not soft. The thermostat was broken. The front desk did not give the password for WiFi.

Review 96:Breakfast

Review 97:The wifi wasn't great and our room wasn't cleaned when we first went in, so I had to go back and get another one. Could've been a once off.

Review 98:The room was clean and comfortable, everything worked and breakfast was included. Looked like a good one for families.

Review 99:Seedy - the type of motel where you wear your swim shoes constantly as you are too afraid of carpet. Bugs cemetery in bathroom lighting. Hair in shower (before we took one). Phone in room broken? disconnected? just for show? Towels dingy and so very thin - and only 2. Grandson using swimming pool with staff pouring chemicals in while swimmers present. Should I go on?

Review 100:Leaving early - had a 2 night reservation and couldn't stand the idea of a second night. Hard enough to get through first.

Review 101:Breakfast was inadequate. Ice maker didn't work. Bath drain was slow. Didn't get correct count of washcloths.

Review 102:Location was very convenient to Sequoua NP and Kings Canyon NP.

Review 103:Continental breakfast - waffles, toast, jams and sweet muffins, no protein not even cheese

Review 104:Family friendly atmosphere; clean comfy beds; nearby choices of restaurants; location, location, location

Review 105:Small breakfast area

Review 106:its's one of the closest hotels to sequoia national park. Some restaurants around. Breakfast is ok in the average (waffles, cereals, cakes, juice, coffee, toasts,...) Staff v friendly. Beds are big and comfortable. Quite clean. Bathroom clean and ok as well.

Review 107:- no wifi in the room - wifi in public area quite useless (download acceptable, upload was bad, meaning you will not be able to send your pictures) - rooms need renovation

Review 108:- location - looks better from outside than from inside

Review 109:Wifi was very slow, very disappointing. Accommodation was generally tired. Poor TV reception.

Review 110:Close location to National Parks. Air cooling was effective.

Review 111:The room was clean but shabby, especially for what we paid. Poor internet service, linens were sub standard, especially hand towels and wash cloths, Poor TV selection, no channel guide. Coffee selection minimal, poor repair work on bathroom sink, not what we would expect in a motel with that price!

Review 112:It was a convenient location

Review 113:Room no internet,,, just the lobby! but is not the problem at all.

Review 114:Location,,Location,,closed to main gate at Sequoia National Park and the hotel very clean no smell,no odor cleanliness is my number one

Review 115:- very friendly staff - great breakfast with fresh wafles and cakes - highly recommendable Mexican restaurant closely: Casa Mendoza, 40869 Sierra Dr Three Rivers, CA 93271

Review 116:The room was very dark and the lamps have low-wattage bulbs. Difficult to read anything in the room. We think the room (# 47) may have bed bugs. We both both bitten by something - noticed in the a.m. when we were at the park. We've never had experience with them but my husband found a bug (very tiny) in the sheets.

Review 117:Comvenient location near Sequoia National Park.

Review 118:The hotel had everything what was needed for a nice stay. Although the breakfast room was a little small for all the people, the buffet table was laid nicely (waffle iron!!!)

Review 119:WiFi doesn't work in some rooms (too weak signal). If you come to breakfast 20 minutes before the end there is a good chance you got nothing to eat.

Review 120:Good location, close to the park.

Review 121:Advertised as free wi-fi, but was only in lobby and we were FAR from the lobby. Microwave did not work so had to ask for a replacement. We were stuck in a room which almost made you feel like it was a cave compared to the other rooms. Can't recommend.

Review 122:The motel was located pretty close to the entrance of Sequoia.

Review 123:WiFi is at the lower end, sufficient for basic messaging.

Review 124:The motel with pool offers you a relaxing atmosphere close to Sequioa National Park where you can see the giant redwoods. The staff is very friendly and make you feel welcome.

Review 125:Nothing in particular - we got what we expected. There's room for improving bathroom facilities and modernise the room a bit, but then again, this is not intended to be a luxury hotel.

Review 126:Clean, comfortable enough, relatively cheap, simple breakfast but well supplied (a waffle maker, too!), good location for visiting Sequoia if you're looking to avoid expensive stays inside the park.

Review 127:Breakfast; not enough chairs & tables inside for the number of guests & cold outside. Poor choice of cereals & bread. Uncomfortable & vary creaky sofa bed

Review 128:Had a suite so lot of space + large balcony upstairs

Review 129:Tired building, grounds, furnishing, bedding, decor. Unfriendly staff. I'm on holiday I can do without this.

Review 130:Great location. Stay here for convenience if you must but there are other brighter friendlier places nearby.

Review 131:the room was not serviced yet when we got there into the room late afternoon. the room also has a strange smell even after cleaned up. the staff is not so friendly and going to charge higher rate when we asked the possibility to change rooms. Wifi was useless.

Review 132:the location, breakfast is not so bad.

Review 133:When we first arrived I was so excited until I met the lady at the counter. My card was declined when I tried to pay, I told her that I had a 0 balance, nothing was charged to the credit card but before I could even offer to use another card she yelled at me saying I couldn't stay here if I did not have money. I honestly don't think she had known what a 0 balance meant. I didn't yell back I was just so shocked that someone who is in customer service for a hotel that many people visit per year could have the nerve to yell at anyone like that. She was absolutely awful. I gave her my other card to pay for the room and it was accepted. I should have just gone to a different hotel. I will never go to this location again. They also charge $10 for a map that you get for free when you enter the park.

Review 134:The room needs to be renovated- bath faucet did not functioned well, and toilet had to flush twice thus waste water.

Review 135:Being able to check in late, breakfast was a plus, and staff are very accommodating.

Review 136:The bathroom was not cleaned well. The bath tub had hair all over it, gross! The bath mat was dingy & dirty. We couldn't even use it!

Review 137:The staff was friendly & helpful. I was concerned about the room because of the negative reviews. We stayed in room 63. It was OK. No bed bugs, thank goodness.
