Reviews for Sierra Lodge Three Rivers
Review 1:The parking is really tight.
Review 2:The people were really nice and responsive with problems like a broken remote. The motel was easy to find, and it was located close to Sequoia National Park. The heater worked well for chilly nights and frosty mornings. The continental breakfast was premade pastries: nothing fancy but did the trick.
Review 3:the heater in the room was extremely loud, even at lowest power - that means in winter, you will have to choose between warmth and silence when you sleep.
Review 4:Good price, clean, staff available at 11PM, breakfast light but good, bathroom equipment ok
Review 5:Breakfast was very poor but there are couple places close to the hotel opened very early in the morning.
Review 6:The room was very nice. Confortable bed and heater in the bathroom! The room had very nice views to the mountain.
Review 7:Heater controls didn't work, floors were dirty and had dust bunnies everywhere. Room smelled like chlorine. Lamp on table was broken and did not work. Seemed like the up keep was lacking.
Review 8:The woman at the front desk was very nice
Review 9:It was cold up there and room took a while to heat. But an extra blanket was supplied and it was a very minimal thing
Review 10:Three Rivers is a lovely little town on the edge of the national park. Some great restaurants and 2 petrol stations as well as market shops etc. Convenient and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic but big and drinks etc restocked each day. It was very good value for money
Review 11:Lack of eating houses within walking distance, it's a couple of miles to any where to get dinner
Review 12:The location is very good, near to the National Park ($20 for a weeks entrance to the park). Good size bedroom and bathroom
Review 13:We arrived late, at 11pm, but the staff did not make and effort to make us welcome (he probably said 10 words in total, barely whispered and without even looking at us).
Review 14:Great location, just outside Sequoia NP. Room and breakfast were OK.
Review 15:No food vending machine or grocery store open at 10 pm within 5 miles. Loud when you have a room to the street. Windows do not close tightly.
Review 16:The interior room design was amazing. The bed, the bathroom, the TV, fridge, extra blankets.
Review 17:Everything was great for what we paid, more than expected for the cost.
Review 18:We loved the friendly staff and the cosy rooms. The location is great for the Sequoia National Park.
Review 19:Everything was great
Review 20:Very comfortable and stylish! Location is great, quiet, close to Sequoia NP. The interior is not as in regular motels - many wooden details and beautiful decoration. The very best option is a pool - free of charge, clean and spacious, not only to swim but also to have an evening drink near it. This was the best motel of all the 2-weeks trip along the west coast states.
Review 21:smallish room, old beds; shower wasn't working to well fine for sleeping, but not really a place you actually want to spend time in very limited breakfast
Review 22:about as close as you can get to Sequoia National Park without actually staying in the park
Review 23:Bit old fashioned ,furniture and electrics old but clean, didn't really detract from the stay. Pool water very cold!!
Review 24:Having a private balcony. Friendly staff. Clean room. Breakfast cookies, coffee etc. Proximity to Sequoia National Park. Outside pool clean and well maintained.
Review 25:Most. VERY! VERY! dirty. We had to go to the store and buy cleaning items and clean it before we could stay. This is the worst place is 30yrs we have stayed. We will never send someone there.
Review 26:Some freindly staff
Review 27:Tired property, in need of some serious tlc, and there's limited choice for where to eat in the evening.
Review 28:The location is convenient for the entrance to Sequoia National Park, the free wifi (when it works)
Review 29:Our room was directly next to the very busy Highway ---- additionally there was a very noisy Coke machine in the parking lot. There were a lot of threats pasted in the room ---We charge you 100$ if you throw paper in the toilet or use the fireplace --- thats not a welcoming attitude
Review 30:Close to the Sequoia National Park
Review 31:The bath tub needs to be refinished. Right now it is in bad condition. Room S1
Review 32:Friendly staff. Overall condition of accommodations good. Closeness to the Sequoia National Park south entrance.
Review 33:The room was not clean. The floor was covered in dusty and dirt, there was trash in the trash cans presumably from the last guest, and worst of all there was hair in all of the sheets. Other issues included poor WiFi, old hardly functioning air-conditioning, and a shower head that was installed in the wall at my chest level (I'm 5'11").
Review 34:Mike, the man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. He checked us in, showed us to our rooms and gave us recommendations for a place to eat dinner which turned out to have delicious food.
Review 35:- very outdated site with functions being not operational - breakfast service close to be non-existing at all
Review 36:- a really good location at the gate of the national park
Review 37:Rather expensive for a room that is in dire need of updating...it was a blast back to 1973. Light Fixture in the main bedroom was broken, tub / shower look unclean probably due to age, overall just old looking.
Review 38:Staff was friendly & helpful.
Review 39:Breakfast was a bit small and limited and should start at 7am instead of 8am for those wanting to go early to Sequoia.
Review 40:Swimming Pool excellent and valley view. Parking 1M from bedroom door very convenient.
Review 41:Ridiculously narrow spiral staircase to upper floor. Very dangerous. Only access. Everything was old from the 70s - décor, bathroom blinds, cooler. Shower faucet was reversed, TV wouldn't turn on till you hit the light switch. Pool was closed in early August. Breakfast was a joke. Lobby was old and dingy.
Review 42:poor breakfast, no place to sit inside, restaurant no at walking distance need a car
Review 43:nearby Sequoia National Park, nice rooms (6 people, 3 rooms), well equipped, parking near the room, nice swimming pool, nice and helpful team,
Review 44:the room was dirty! the floor surface was sticky, the furniture were covered with dust. the bath rooms was not clean, leftovers from other guests.. the oven was very dirty, looks like it was never cleaned. we just run from that place immediately in the morning.. waiting for the next stop to wash ourselves from the dirt and dust.
Review 45:the location was good, very close to the forests. the staff was very friendly
Review 46:VIP room was dirty, found bug in one bed, front desk staff was not friendly, TV remote didn't work, air conditioner was very noisy, "breakfast" was poor (instant oatmeal), parking lot poorly designed and creates traffic jam, can't lock balcony door
Review 47:Nice view of the small valley
Review 48:It was rustic, the shower was small, I was expecting a larger room, since I did book on line a "Deluxe Queen Room" what I thought I was getting.
Review 49:The front desk people where very friendly! And they where very accommodating!
Review 50:We didn't like the noisy air-conditioning unit at night time!
Review 51:Love the location and our room right by the pool. The scenery was stunning. So very different from the green field of England. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay very relaxing.
Review 52:Very old place, redundant design, not suited for motel application, everything is dilapidated, like walking back 40 years; in the USA & on Booking.com there are too many substandard establishments like this costing far too much.
Review 53:Location to the park
Review 54:The wifi was not very reliable nor fast and the breakfast options were very limited. However, these were minor issues -overall it was a great experience.
Review 55:Overall it was a great experience, the location/proximity to the national parks close by is great.
Review 56:Room was very small and the refrigerator was very loud. The room was warm also, and they gave us a fan, but it was too loudl Parking was very tight.
Review 57:The young man was very helpful when we checked in. The pool was very nice also
Review 58:The water pressure in the shower is low, the water barely trickles. Breakfast is a few pastries, packaged oatmeal, coffee and tea.
Review 59:This hotel has a small refrigerator, coffee-maker in the room. Outside, there is small non-heated pool with some charcoal bbq grills. The furnishing is dated but it adds to the rustic feel. It's near the Sequioa National Park.
Review 60:Worn out stained furniture, old dusty carpet, cobwebs, broken bathtub drain, ants, hard mattress that felt unsteady (swayed back and forth every time someone moved). Can't drink the tap water, had to use bottled water (Hotel provides 2 bottles/day) to brush teeth, was worried about giving my son a bath in the water. Was given ant spray for ants, and they offered to have housekeeping spray for me, but I did it myself. There were a few ants in the bathroom after that, but not in the living area I had mostly sprayed.
Review 61:Close to Sequoia, inexpensive, free continental breakfast, free wifi, and had vacancy when others didn't. Mini Fridge. Had children's books (and adults), and board games. Cable TV had Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. Picnic tables, chairs, charcoal grills, pool, assigned parking space in front of room.
Review 62:The drains in the toilet and bathroom basin blocked almost as soon as we checked in and continued to drain slowly or block throughout our 2 nights there. The free breakfast was really poor, there wasn't even milk supplied for cereal or oatmeal and no toast.
Review 63:Good proximity to Sequoia National Park.
Review 64:The TV is antiquated, the whole room needs renovation, everything looks old, used and cheap. But the price is right...
Review 65:The staff was nice, the location was good, the room has everything you need but...
Review 66:Booking.com didn't actually make our reservation with sierralodge, even though they sent me confirmation & they have failed toreimburse the difference we paid to stay elsewhere after they saidthey would.
Review 67:The receptionist was very friendly & helpful
Review 68:We booked the two bedroom suite. It's a very nice and sweet suite. The view from balcony is beautiful and the boutique decoration of the whole suite is far more fancy than the pictures showed on the website. The Lodge is located less than 10 miles to the entrance of Sequoia. It's nice place to stay when you travel with a bunch of friends or a big family.
Review 69:We had travelled for 10 hours from Utah to stay near to sequoia national park for one night. It was about 9pm when we arrived and it was dark. Despite mentioning our long journey to the owner on arrival, we were put in a room which was up a flight of metal stairs with the only door which was totally unlit. It was pitch black. The room was tiny and badly arranged. We knew we'd only be in it for a few hours which was lucky. You could hear everything from the room next door through the walls. There were no curtains at the window, just slatted blinds that let loads of light in in the morning. The bathroom taps didn't work at all. The shower was ok though.
Review 70:The free WiFi
Review 71:The floors left my children's feet black, the bed we slept in was loud, uncomfortable, and had no fitted sheets. For the price, I would have eexpected clean comfort. When I mentioned my concerns to the innkeeper, she was dismissive. The "continental breakfast" was basically slumber party leftovers, with powdered donuts, bad coffee, and Sunny Delight. They apparently are unconcerned with repeat business.
Review 72:The location
Review 73:The pool was cooooollllllddd.
Review 74:The people at the hotel went out of there way to help my family have a great vacation. They did everything they could to have happy guests, not just for my family but for everyone there. I will plain on going there first on my next trip to the area.
Review 75:The bed & pillows were horrible! The room was very clean, however, the windows are single-pane and there is no mechanical ventilation in the bathroom, so when you take a shower all the windows fog up from the condensation. Decor, including the furniture is dated. This place should be renovated if it wants to compete in the "real world."
Review 76:the front desk people are super nice! This is a great location if you are going to Sequoia Nat'l Park as it is 5 mins. from the park entrance. There are some good restaurants in the area, i.e., the Gateway & Pizza Factory.
Review 77:Bed was not confortable; oven was really dirty (with pieces of cheese in the racks) and breakfast is too simple (Orange, coffee and donuts).
Review 78:Close to the Sequoia park; large acomodation for a big family, Nice price
Review 79:The motel might be nicer during summer, but in the wintertime the experience was not pleasant. The room was really cold and the small air conditioning device attached to the window didn't have nearly enough power to heat it. There were enough blankets in the bed for keeping relatively warm while sleeping, but they smelled funny like they hadn't been washed or had been moist for a long time.
Review 80:Views are nice.
Review 81:This was my second time staying here, and there will be a third & fourth.... The price is right, great value. Location is perfect. Staff is helpful & friendly. Really, there is nothing not to like.
Review 82:very poor breakfast. bathroom and beds clean but furniture quite dusty
Review 83:very close to sequoia national park. quite clean. we went in winter and the room was very warm.
Review 84:Very, very noisy rooms. The room was very dirty with dead bugs laying around, mold in the shower and dust on the edges of furniture. Outdated furniture. The bed was old, and not comfortable, and so where the comforters.
Review 85:It's right outside Sequoia & Kins Canyon.
Review 86:The room was VERY small and had a VERY old, broken down mattress, plus the the T.V. was 19", if that big. But once again, the owners were extremely nice - just spruce the place up a bit and get a new mattress.
Review 87:The location was wonderful - at the gates of Sequoia National Park. Also there were several very good restaurants in this small town - the Cider Mill was wonderful. The owners were very kind and always there to answer any ????.
Review 88:It is dirty, old and neglected. The glass in the "patio" doorswas filthy. The room was very tired, the furniture came out of the ark,it was dusty, cobwebs, the bed cover was very old and worn, thefurniture was dirty and worn out, old tv, grubby bathroom, dirty coffeemaker. The first page in the "welcome" folder was a list ofcharges that would be made for each item you may feel like stealing ...so the welcome is to call guests thieves. No hair dryer ... could borrowone from reception, but bad luck if you want it after 7.30pm or before9am as no-ne there then. A/c was ancient, noisy and too close to thebed, (it could be operated while lying down) impossible to sleep nextto. The pool area and furniture needed a good scrub. We had the room for2 nights but it was not cleaned for second night, so bed was not made, towels not changed, bathroom not wiped over or rubbish removed ... so wehad an ant invasion. Breakfast was pathetic ... weak, luke warm coffee, slices of orange and a pastry. I will say the sheets and towels wereclean though.
Review 89:This place gets the one point purely because it is close to Sequoia. Ican see why the place charges in full on booking and no refund ... if wehadn't pre-paid we would have left. Only redeeming point is it'scloseness to the Sequoia National Park.It is at best a 2 star and definitely over-priced. Could be nice with a bit of time and money invested ... shame.
Review 90:All of the items under question #2 I booked a VIP room with two bedrooms. What I got: 1) A very small & smelly (triangular shaped) room. 2) The bedroom, restroom, and the next bedroom separated by paper thin wooden panels. And connected by broken (wooden) sliding doors. 4) ALL of the furniture...looked like it was acquired at a flea market. 5) WIFI did not work 6) Lost all power at the stroke of midnight All of these at an overprice total of $230.00 per night.
Review 91:Broken Windows in Both rooms, a back door that would not lock, a shower that would not shower, the minute I turned on the water the shower head blew off the pipe, oh and the lights by the bed didn't work avoid this place !!!!
Review 92:nothing, floor stunk, was dirty, the only person who made it tolerable was the nice desk clerk in the beginning, the problem she didn't say the office was open 24 hours when we went to complain the office showed as closed
Review 93:One weird thing- the kids were often barefoot in the room and kept getting a dark black residue on the bottoms of their feet, we have no idea where it came from but it was somewhere in the suite. Even after washing their feet were black again after less than an hour, and they were inside the whole time. I wore white socks most of the time and my socks were always clean. Kinda gross. We were in suite #3, maybe the staff should check the floors. The front door of our room also opened directly onto the one-lane entrance driveway to the Lodge parking lot. You just have to be careful when going outside, but it seems a bit unsafe especially for kids. There is only 1 assigned parking space for each unit and they are a tight fit if you have a large vehicle, pulling into my parking space made me nervous and I only have a Honda CRV, I can't imagine how you would park if you had a bigger vehicle. My mom has a Ford F250 and she had to park it out front at the office since we were only allowed one space and she couldn't fit into the assigned one. There are only 3 spaces in the front and I guess you'd be out of luck if they were full. Maybe call and ask them about the parking situation if you have a big vehicle before you make the reservation.
Review 94:The cabin with kitchen was perfect for three adults and 2 small children in our group. Really close to Sequoia National Forest. The kids loved the pool and we appreciated having a kitchen for them (picky eaters) and extra space. Staff was friendly and helpful. The suite was older but well maintained.
Review 95:Lousy Wi-Fi. The breakfast is a joke Small and very old room. Only one electric receptacle. Dusty room. The bathroom was so old that looked even more dirty that it really was. Just a new bath tub mat would have made it a little better, We used a towel as mat.
Review 96:Location. Good value for the money.
Review 97:That our trip only allowed us one night there!!
Review 98:It's not a 5 star luxury hotel but for our first night in CA awaking to find a mountain view in a very quaint motel from my bed was breathtaking!! The layout, location, view, outdoor patio, and outdoor pool with the mountain backdrop will forever be a treasured memory!
Review 99:Not much to the free breakfast - but there is a good breakfast place (we three bakery) just up the road
Review 100:Convenient to Sequoia NP. While decor a bit old and sometimes eccentric, we were there for the park so that didn't matter.
Review 101:The place needs serious updating and cleaning. We stayed in the VIP rooms...the paneling was scratched, the lighting fixtures were full of dead bugs, and I felt like I had to wash my hands every time I touched a light switch. The pool was small and cloudy..I wouldn't swim in it. The staff seemed very put out that we thought it was important for us to lock the sliding glass doors to our room. Their excuse was that it was on the 3rd floor and no one had ever broken into a room before so we had no reason to worry or expect to be able to lock those doors. We got the impression the owner is trying to get as much money as possible out of it without putting any money into the property.
Review 102:Close to entrance of Sequoia National Park
Review 103:Maybe a bit expensive, but within envelope for the region. The core of the Sequoia park is 1h drive from the lodge.
Review 104:Simple, fast, quiet, friendly staff.
Review 105:Nothing.
Review 106:Although the rooms are rather small, i immediately perceived them as very cozy; and they were for the whole night. In the morning, I could enjoy a beautiful atmosphere from the balcony. Awesome! The breakfast is simple, but at least they offer something (oat cereals, sliced oranges, coffee, pastry, and sweets), which others don't. Wifi was OK, and you get a free parking lot.
Review 107:Old, poorly maintained, they didn't have the room that I reserved. Office closes at 9pm and opens at 8am. Free breakfast, I didn't see it, but they said that it was a pastry.
Review 108:Location. The night man was friendly, at least for the 5 mins that we interacted.
Review 109:We didnt like the signs warning of fees/fines if the fire was used, items were taken from the room or anything other than toilet waste was flushed or the sanction if your car wasn't in the right space. This could have been done with more tact and sensitivity Also the bathroom floor was dirty Compared with other hotels of a similar size not good value.
Review 110:Location to national park. Handy car parking
Review 111:A little pricey. Complimentary breakfast was poor.
Review 112:Very close to the park. The room was a little odd - sliding glass doors for an entrance, but it was very clean. Mountain atmosphere. Overall, very satisfactory.
Review 113:Room walls are made out of cartoon and you can hear everything including neighbours walking bare feeted.Absolutely disgraceful room, breakfast NOT includin even some cold milk, night personnel whoi doesn't even know the surroundings to give you indications to reach the site, pool water looking greener that grass and horrible quality/money ratio, charging $170 per night for a room worth less than half!
Review 114:Good wi-fi
Review 115:I have two young kids (3 and 6 years old respectively). I got a big baggage for our family. I told the receptionist, I need a room where is on the ground floor as we have two kids and a big baggage. The receptionist refused to arrange according to our request. He arranged a room where is on the upper floor with staircase. We noticed there were some empty room on the ground floor as there wasn't any car parked in front, and the hotel was not full. We were unpleasant for such inflexible customer services. We would not come again. And we would not recommend to any friends of us.
Review 116:We stayed here twice within a week. Lovely deep pool, each room is a little different which is nice. Books available to read. We would happily stay here again.
Review 117:Wifi was terrible. was by the pool and at best would get 1 bar ever. Furniture was way outdated. Cob webs in corners of room.
Review 118:Location, was close to restaurants and to sequoia national Forrest, was quiet. Continental breakfast, assigned parking, had pool.nothing fancy.
Review 119:(1) No complaint system. The morning of checkout I expressed to the front desk personnel how it was extremely bothersome to return to the hotel the night before (~10:30 p.m.) and not having my designated parking spot due to the staff's having given it away unbeknownst to me and never telling me and never assigning me another one. The front desk personnel responded, "Why are you telling me this?" After being directed to the owner, who was on site, I spoke with said owner and immediately got an invective, hostile and aggressive man who was not in the slightest bit able to listen and was completely not in control of himself, and all the while in front of my 5-yr-old daughter that he made her cry out of concern for me.(2) Unprofessional Staff. On my second and last night at the hotel the front desk personnel gave my designated parking spot to someone else. When I arrived to the hotel at 10:30 p.m. it took the front desk 45 minutes to find me another parking spot. To boot, the front desk attendant first lied to me, telling me that whomever parked in my spot had done so without the hotel's permission. The following morning when I reported the dishonesty as well as my having had to wait 45 minutes for a parking spot the hotel's owner never takes this complaint and among many invective words he also used he tells me, "You'll park where I goddam tell you to park or I will call the police and have you removed from the property." Never had I ever parked in a place other than where I was told to park. I had never not followed the rules; only the hotel had been unprofessional and inconsiderate towards a guest at their hotel. . . . for no apparent reason, just because they seem to not be the brightest people and are incapable of understanding the ramifications for things that they do and then empathizing with people.
Review 120:Most of all I liked the location. (The hotel is situated very close to the southern entrance of the Sequoia National Park.)
Review 121:Staying in Sierra Lodge Three Rivers is like going back in time to, circa 1973. Nothing has been renovated ever since. You got the idea. Despite the best efforts of the cleaning staff, this place is slowly falling apart and you can tell that is still in operation simply because there's practically nothing else in Three Rivers. If the receptionist recommends you the Riverview Restaurant, please don't go. The place is a true dump with the worst food and service immaginable. The night we were there, the visibly intoxicated waitress informed us that it had been a "rough night". I was afraid to ask for more details. From the most baisc and mostly deep-fried "food" on the menu we picked baked potatoes. 45 minutes later they came....cold. A young pair from the next table lef their food untouched. A huge spider hanging above another table fell on a German woman. Rough night indeed. For all of us.
Review 122:Very basic but clean accommodation. Good for budget travellers with very modest expectations.
Review 123:Furnishing were old and a bit worn. Carpets were not clean. Strange kitchen cabinets that leaned downward so would hang open if not fully latched. Pool water was fairly cold. Only one bathroom which had non-locking accordion door.
Review 124:We were a group of 5 and were put in the "honeymoon suite", a 2 bedroom apartment. This was good since we wanted to be able to cook. Location is good, on road to Sequoia/Kings Canyon Parks and not too far from entrance. The kitchen was basic but OK for a hotel/apartment place. Had a pool which was nice since it was quite hot.
Review 125:We were on the second floor and had to take a spiral staircase to our room. The spiral staircase was the only drawback. Enjoyed having balcony outside out door.
Review 126:Visiting Sequoia park, this was a great location for us. The staff were very helpful. The place is a little old but well kept up. We would stay here again.
Review 127:WiFi doesn't work very well. There were a few small ants in the dining room.
Review 128:Although old, it was very clean. We stayed in the 2 bedroom house with kitchen, and it was nice to have our entire group together.
Review 129:The room was unpleasant, windows were dirty and one of the bed was broken. We took pictures and we can send as evidence. We are not recommended anybody to visit this hotel.
Review 130:The outdated furnishings & surrounds, it was like being taken back to 1960. The dirty areas in the rooms i.e. kitchen floor, cooker hood dripping with grease, filthy behind the bed.
Review 131:We had a 2 bedroomed house with full kitchen facilities.
Review 132:We were not told that there was a small staircase to get up to the second floor. While we could make it, I could see that some persons would not know and would have to find another place.
Review 133:The location was good for getting in and out of Yosemite and Sequoia NP.
Review 134:Non updated facilities
Review 135:Location
Review 136:- very noisy old-style AC/heater
Review 137:-very friendly staff, good breakfast
Review 138:Friendly staff, nice location. Saw a bear in the palm near hotel that was awesome.
Review 139:- The room wasn't clean, but nothing horrible.
Review 140:- Close to the entrance to Sequoia National Park
Review 141:Overall very good-only 1 issue - Stated that there was Internet, but it was weak/poor at best. Slow and kept disappearing - weak signal.
