Reviews for Hotel Aspen Flagstaff/ Grand Canyon InnSuites

Review 1:That the bed was old and lumpy. Pillows were old and almost not worth using since they were flat. The room would not maintain a consistent temp. Thermostat was old, heating unit was old. Going into the restroom it was freezing.

Review 2:That the room appeared clean

Review 3:Just that the vending machine was sold out except for the Diet Coke.

Review 4:The room we got was nice and clean at a good reasonable price for a last minute get away trip. I'd definitely stay there again.

Review 5:room was grubby enough but clean. lot of things not working but the staff fixed what they could immediately once made aware.

Review 6:location a 5-10 minute walk from Downtown Flagstaff

Review 7:There's real room for improvement . They are working on it . It could be real nice if they finish details. All in all it was fair to good.

Review 8:Breakfast was good.

Review 9:We had to park so far and it was tough taking luggage up to the second floor as my husband is a disabled vet with leg disabilities. But we checked in late so that was our problem. But when we loaded up we were able to move closer.

Review 10:The beds were comfortable. The fridge did not work, so we just used our own little ice chest for our water bottles. The breakfast was super, and the gentleman at PJ's restaurant was very helpful and cheerful.

Review 11:Lamps and phone didnt work. Shower curtin would get wet and leak water all over the floor. The rooms wasnt every clean, there were stains in the bed skirts.

Review 12:I loved the warm breakfast each morning and the happy hour in the evening. For the price the place wasnt horrible. Our group of people also liked the connecting doors between our rooms. This was unexpected and convient.

Review 13:It was typical of a grimy, small town motel: furniture was old &dinged up; weird/half ass repairs on fixtures & wall paper, etc.; took many hours for the room to warm up; & the train goes by alot so if you're a light sleeper it will bother you.

Review 14:We liked that the motel was pet friendly, had a refrigerator &microwave, & the location (near downtown) was amazing!

Review 15:The bathroom was very cold and the window in the bathroom had no lock or screen on it

Review 16:It was close to the road that I had to take to get the the Grand Canyon.

Review 17:hair dryer didn't work in both rooms I had no view

Review 18:Liked the "social hour" and the breakfast, and the staff working there! Comfortable beds.

Review 19:The walls had a few spots with peeling paint, one light switch worked nothing that I could tell, and the heating unit had to be plugged in, but there was nothing to tell the guest that was necessary.

Review 20:Clean, free wi-fi, free happy hour at cafe next to the Inn, breakfast included sausage, eggs, and fried potatoes. Furniture in the room was very modern and nice.

Review 21:The rooms appeared to be the same beds/furniture/walls/bathroom as when we stayed there 15 years ago.

Review 22:I definitely liked the price for $65 & the location was in the middle of everything so you had plenty of resturants to choose from.

Review 23:Rooms were not very comfortable or clean. TV was "locked." Woke up with a cockroach crawling up my arm. Didn't fall back asleep after that.

Review 24:Free breakfast and low price.

Review 25:My stay was on a Saturday night in a second story room (2 queen beds) and was very quiet & clean. Bed was very comfortable. (Blanket was sandwiched between two clean, fresh top sheets--- no yucky bedspreads!) Heating/cooling unit was very quiet and effective. Room had phone, free WiFi, microwave, refrigerator, large TV, ironing board & iron + hair dryer in the huge bathroom. Property was well-lit and felt secure. Did not avail myself of free breakfast, so am unable to comment. Very good experience. Will return!

Review 26:TV, jacuzzi and blow dryer didn't work. Called the office many times but no one showed up to fix/replace. We stayed for 4 days without TV - hotel booked/couldn't change room.

Review 27:The staff was friendly.

Review 28:Toasted bread only, would have been nice to have english muffins or bagels. The evening reception served ONLY corn chips and salsa both days of our visit. Would be nice if they offered some other kind of dip on alternate days! The heated spa was not available. I read reviews about the construction, there was none on our visit, however the rooms are very tired with new fixtures and beds, great tv.

Review 29:The Breakfast was good, scrambled eggs, link sausage, fried potato chunks. There was also cold and hot cereal available, juices and hot coffee and tea. Evening reception was great! Wine draft beer and sodas were offered!

Review 30:Holes in the walls, dirty, ice & breakfast across the parking lot. The desk clerk said 'sorry that this happened to you' when I complained about the state of the room. She said they were rennovating, but not in the building that I was staying. I would be embarrassed to offer this guest room in my home much less ask someone to pay for it

Review 31:Comfortable bed

Review 32:Staff were not too friendly compared to other places we stayed. When we were leaving the cleaning staff had blocked our way with large bags of supplies and had no intention of moving them! No apologies, just ignored us trying to get around them - not good.

Review 33:Tv required repair, a/c did not cool, beds uncomfortable, youngpeople congregating outside unit, noisy people on 2nd floor, not allwashing machines/driers worked well, no laundry soap on site

Review 34:Convenient for next day travel

Review 35:Door did not fit frame, room was as expected for buget room.... Was farther to walk to get dinner than anticipated.

Review 36:It was budget accommodation and for all its faults, to be fair it was comfortable I guess.

Review 37:but very run down. It looked like they picked up their future for a garage sale, nothing matched and pieces were made to work with particular board. At $135.00 a night not worth the money.

Review 38:The place was clean

Review 39:Things are very worn out, and we had to call for the maintance man several times duriing a 3 day stay. Toilet needing repairing, TV cable box was shorting out, and air conditioner had only one speed - ON. Plus this property is right across from very busy train tracks with trains running all night long!!!

Review 40:Happy hour and breakfast were good along with the location which is close to the historic downtown with easy access to Lowell Observatory and the Grand Canyon.

Review 41:Train noise. Walk to town involves walking on busy Highway. They added a $3 service charge that was not listed on Booking.com.

Review 42:Staff went out of their way to make sure I had wifi. But the signal was weak. The hotel is 15-20 min walk de downtown closer than the high end hotels in Flagstaff and this better value. Swimming pool and breakfast were great.

Review 43:I thought what we paid for the accommodations was over priced. For the price we paid, the rooms need upgrades.

Review 44:It was in an area that was close to food and gas. It was a clean area.

Review 45:The hotel sign said spa so we were a little disappointed however the heated pool felt great. Need to install a hand rail to get in & out of the shallow end steps.

Review 46:The beds were super comfy! Like sleeping on a cloud. We slept like babies.

Review 47:The power by the lamp kept shortening out. Inconvenient when u need oxygen and cpap at night.

Review 48:Beds were soooo comfortable, breakfast was awesome and the happy hour.

Review 49:This isn't a hotel it's a motel. The WiFi was very poor and really of no use to use. Even on a motel standard it was the lower end of the scale. When checking in we were 10 mins waiting before anyone came out to take care of us.

Review 50:The location was a good part of this 'hotel'...the only other good part was breakfast in Joe's. Lovely clean area with route 66 theme. Breakfast was great.

Review 51:Not enough linens when we checked in, old carpeting, beds too soft, one door to bathroom (2 bedroom set up) would not latch and had to be propped shut.

Review 52:Flagstaff central location on Route 66

Review 53:Place was tired and run-down. Windows didn't look, air conditioning controls were broken. Nowhere to hang clothes except shower rail. Internet printer for guests permanently out of service. Staff wanted to charge an additional $3 per night above the rate advertised on booking .com

Review 54:Location was handy to downtown. Breakfast was quite good

Review 55:Girl at the front desk appears freindly but is incompetent. When Ichecked in I gave my name and my reservation was not found. The ladybooked another room for me . When I got my credit card bill I saw that Iwas double charged. I called to ask the manager to remove the secondcharge and she said she is unable to as the room has already beencharged. There is nothing we can do. I thought I was getting a good dealand now im paying double for a room that isnt even worth its originalprice. Dont you train your staff to ask if the room is possibly underthe other travelers name? I am furious and do not recommend this place, horrible customer service for a mistake that is in part their fault.

Review 56:No fruit at breakfast. Walls are dirty and have holes in them. Our door had a huge gap in it. When we turned on the heater, it smelled like the room was on fire. Chairs could be cleaned. Spa and Fitness room which are advertised are non existent. Train noise all night long.

Review 57:Bed was comfy. Pool was nice.

Review 58:Some fixtures seemed to be needing repairs such as the shower handle that kept falling off.

Review 59:Location was great seeing that it's seconds away from downtown.

Review 60:Beware, this is a motel not a hotel as named. The pictures of the property give no hint of this. Paid just over $200 for a Presidential Suite, what a joke! Firstly, the door was difficult to open and close. The rooms were very shabby. The curtains were shredded and full of holes. 4 mains sockets didn't work. TV kept losing it's signal. TV remote battery cover broken so I had to hold the batteries in place to make it work. Only 2 coffee pods plus no tray to place them in the machine. Not enough towels, there were only a couple in the bathroom, none in the kitchen. Continuous noise from the trains across the road throughout the night. If I'd only paid $50 for the room I wouldn't complain, but I paid $200 for something I expected to be luxurious and feel like I was mugged!

Review 61:Spa bath.

Review 62:Telephone in room didn't work. Printer in business center broken. Ice machine downstairs. Inconvenient. Breakfast- just wanted some whole grain unsweetened cereals. Felt lacking in healthy choices.

Review 63:Town map. Nice Shower. Nice beds. Very helpful staff.

Review 64:Tv remote in one room would not change channels. Though there was a cardin the room for hbo we could not find hbo on the tv. Jacuzzi was missingone of it's control knobs

Review 65:Whatever you do make sure you get a room in the front building. The back building is small and just terrible. The front building is a good value.

Review 66:Free waffles and Free beer/wine during social hour! This made the stay worth while. Hotel staff was accommodating.

Review 67:Poorly maintained. Windows didn't always lock. Nowhere to hang clothes except shower rail. Air conditioning controls didn't always work.

Review 68:Relatively close to downtown. Free parking. Breakfast was not bad.

Review 69:Faulty fridge (cooler) caused Insulin to freeze costing us over 1000USD to replace. We urge the hotel to check all fridges for safe operation and to set the cool temperature to 4 on the dial each time the room is cleaned.

Review 70:Swimming pool

Review 71:I felt that the pictures and the way the motel was presented online were not reflected accurately. Misleading. The front door would barely shut, just needs updating overall.

Review 72:2 free drinks

Review 73:Signage could be larger/clearer to make it easier to find. Looks a bit dated from the outside but rooms are better than some $200 hotels i've stayed in!

Review 74:Fantastic value, full breakfast, fantastic staff at checkin and cafe/breakfast. Free beers and nachos at 'social hour' was a great way to meet fellow travellers.

Review 75:As we entered room, the a/c wasn't working. So we switched rooms. Next room a/c was still not working then t tv and the phone. Holes in the walls from renovation and bathroom was old. Water temp was not good.

Review 76:Beds were comfortable and happy hour was ok.

Review 77:The room was ,extremely, small, no closet to hang clothes. Curtains were torn. Small bathroom with only a shower. The room was nothing as depicted in the photographs. I

Review 78:The friendliness of the staff

Review 79:Beds .. Fridge didn't work and our room smelt mouldy . Also the noise was atrocious coming from the metal stairs beside us as well as creaking floor above us . Sometimes voices so loud we thought someone was in the room

Review 80:Staff, breakfast , pool and vibe

Review 81:The entrance to the room was filthy and the room was not much better. My wife was very upset and as we were trying to decide what to do we heard a loud noise and looked around and saw that the drapes for the window fell down. I called the front desk and they said they would send up the maintenance man. He came up and said it could not be fixed until the next day and would try to get us a different room. I went to the front desk and they gave me the keys to a another room. So we got all our things together and in the rain moved to the room. It was a presidential suite. The room was nice but the TV in the living room did not work, the drain in the bathroom was very slow, and the air conditioner did nor work. It was 84 degrees in the room for sleeping. not good

Review 82:Hard to find, as sign out front emphasized the "Inns & Suites" and the words "Hotel Aspen" were much smaller, and we didn't see until we turned around and came back.

Review 83:Very attractive entry room, made us feel at home. The rooms were all given names, such as "Navajo Room" or "Mesa Room" giving the hotel character. We had two comfortable queen beds, and all the amenities of a great hotel.

Review 84:The room was in horrible condition; holes in the walls, filthy torn carpet, chipped mirror, rusty light fixture, dusty and dirty walls and baseboards. Lodge workers started drilling, facility repairs at 6am! I will never stay there again nor recommend the Aspen in Flagstaff.

Review 85:Location, large screen tv, pool. The front desk staff was pleasant and very helpful.

Review 86:Railroad tracks across the street. Trains rumbled all night long. PJ's restaurant is poor at best. Doesn't even look like a restaurant from the outside. Poor customer service. $90 for a mini suite with holes in the curtains, a bathroom fan cover dangling from the ceiling, a toilet the would refill when it wanted to, etc. just not worth it.

Review 87:My room - on 2nd floor. Carry luggage up steps bad//-- train arcroos the street. Hear all night ---The need many repairs in my room. Holes in wall and some of the outlets did not work and some of the covers are broken you have to turn on the refrigerator for the light switch on the wall

Review 88:Free - Breakfast - very good. - waffle made right in front -fresh hot and still eggs - too many more to list both hot and cold The staff was nice and helpful

Review 89:Not so bad... they didn't have a cork screw for a bottle of wine. Also we had a kitchen but no plates or anything at all. Too difficult to bring those on a trip.

Review 90:The place was great. Comfy bed great sized room great food. Perfect for dogs. Wonderful view.

Review 91:Room was big but needs to be updated: doors need repainting, wallpaper is peeling in spots, bathroom fixtures are old.

Review 92:Good location, nice staff and comfortable bed.

Review 93:When we checked into our room the refrigerator smelled like rotten tuna. We were upgraded to a different room. WHen my daughters tried using the Jacuzzi Tub the jets didn't work. I called down to the desk and the lady told me "oh there's a switch on the wall." I said "ok" I found the switch on the wall and the Jets still didn't work. So my kids sat in hot water.

Review 94:I always love staying here.

Review 95:When we checked in, we were charged an extra $3. The staff insisted that we were receiving th same rate advertised through Booking.com and that this was a fee to cover electricity. Even though it was only $3, the staff was a little rude when we asked why we weren't receiving the price that was guaranteed. The room was also pretty small and the A/C was very loud.

Review 96:Breakfast was pretty good. It was buffet style with waffles, eggs, potatoes, and cereal.

Review 97:there were not enough parking space.

Review 98:We get our room earlier than normal. the staff was very very kind. there was a pool Good on the way to Grand Canyon north rim.a

Review 99:The comfort of the room and the bed. Also the darkening curtains were in terrible shape and light came into the room all night long. Shower was also awful, and we had one of the remodeled rooms. Breakfast was awful and dining area dirty.

Review 100:Nothing! Everything was awesome!

Review 101:The staff was wonderful, room comfortable and clean! Loved the layout of room and bed was great! Others said train was loud.... didn't hear it at all unless outside! Pool was spectacular after a very long hot drive! I'll definitely stay here again!

Review 102:We asked for a roll-away bed and found a spider inside the bed when setting it up. Was not able to use it.

Review 103:Room and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 104:The place was under construction No place to hang clothes Window didn't lock Was a real dump Rooms were not ready for guests Find another place

Review 105:Breakfast

Review 106:Filthy carpet in first room they tried to put us in. Next room did have new carpet, but it was maybe halfway refurbished - some new stuff some old and dirty. VERY small room. We were told we were getting the Executive King Suite! That was a joke. There was nothing about the room that would classify as "Executive". Even outside the rooms, the walkways were dirty!

Review 107:Not much.

Review 108:Very noisy, right by the train track, room door needed to be slammed to shut, no chairs in the room, no fire extinguisher in the designated box outside the rooms

Review 109:Closeness to the town centre , 2 free drinks pppd during Happy hour and free breakfast, free Wifi

Review 110:The staff was very accommodating to our family's needs. The breakfast buffet was awesome and the gentleman that works in the cafe was very friendly and helpful.

Review 111:Where do I start. This room is referred to as a "suite" but I've stayed at Super 8 Inn's that were better quality and at a lower price. Here's the short list: paint peeling off of wall in shower area, mold on walls in bathroom, exhaust fan not working in bathroom, mold on ceiling outside bathroom, hole in wall by the bed, shower curtain too short to go in the tub, door into unit poor quality, curtains in front window wouldn't close and blocked A/C unit, curtains in front window falling off the track, train traffic nearby was loud, the fit and finish of upgrades in the room were shoddy and cheap.

Review 112:Reasonable price for the location Free wifi Breakfast included

Review 113:I think since the hotel is still redoing rooms- they have a bunch of large storage containers around. Makes parking a pain in the back building. Our room had a full kitchen but no supplies at all. No plates, utensils, sponges, soap. Nada.

Review 114:Loved the location- just a mile walk to downtown. The rooms have been redone- my boyfriend and I stayed in a presidential suite- it was awesome! The view from the 2nd floor in the back building was great. Everyone was very Friendly.

Review 115:There is no pool for children, and no free wifi . And no one explainedhow to use the room card in the elevator. It took us 10 mins. To get toour rooms because the elevator would not move, because the staff didnot explain how the room card was to be used on the elevator. Anotherguest showed us how to do it. If you are not young and single this isnot the hotel for you. We booked it because of a specail room rate andwe were only their for one night. But their were others at the samerate that had a pool for the kids to swim in and free wifi. Will neverstay their again.

Review 116:Remodeling left the room w/o towel bars, chairs, or benches. The seal around the door left a slight gap.

Review 117:The detached building for 'happy hour' was good and the breakfast was excellent! The bed was good, too.

Review 118:the mold smell. the pee stains on the carpet. wore white sox an after a couple of minutes they were black on the bottom. This place needs a full remodel.

Review 119:staff was nice at check in.

Review 120:The hotel is old and king suite had not been renovated. The bedroom was too small for the king-sized bed, so small that the bathroom door hit the bed and didn't open all the way. Walls and doors needed repainting, too. It would be better to simply take out the wall and make this a single room rather than a "suite." AC was cold in the "living room" but not cold enough in the bedroom, and the window had no screen.

Review 121:The front desk clerk was very friendly and upbeat, and she responded right away to our request for more towels. The maid was very friendly as well.

Review 122:I guess they hadnt finished with the remodeling stuff because I had to park far because of the pallets laying in parking in front of my door. That was kinda upsetting.

Review 123:I was very impressed with the queen beds! Thats the one thing I look for. They were bigger than normal queen beds and very comfy! Also the remodeled bathrooms were very nice!

Review 124:It was extremely noisy due to the train being right across the street. The carpet was dirty and there was dirt along the wall. The toilet was plugged and the curtain was off the rod. I would not stay here again!!!

Review 125:No closet space congested parking no towel rack in bathroom no lock onwindow wrinkled curtains didn't fit window

Review 126:The bed was comfortable breakfast was good

Review 127:We had 3 spiders in our room; curtains had holes in them; it does look like the place is under renovation. At least we could NOT hear the trains coming through Flagstaff in our room

Review 128:Breakfast....The gentleman who was assigned to the breakfast area was wonderful and a breath of fresh air. leaving the place!

Review 129:Great music/atmosphere at Reds. The mini plate for cocktail hour was s great draw for us. Dinner eats were a bit tough. The spa help was delightful.

Review 130:Individual patios with private/quite atmosphere. Loved the pool/hottub too. The location was perfect. Easy to get into from road. Convenient to every thing we wanted to do

Review 131:Took a little too long to respond to the air conditioning problem, but it was resolved!

Review 132:The air conditioning was not working well when we arrived, but was replaced around midnight

Review 133:The room was horrible. The bath was half painted and was two shades of white. The shower curtain was loose and was about to fall out. The glass shelf in the bath room was loose and you couldn't put any thing on it. The bed was horrible. Worse sleep I ever had. Had a bow in the middle of the bed, kept rolling to the center.

Review 134:Great happy hour and breakfast .

Review 135:The doorlock was not properly installed. The bathroom window was cracked and broken. The room was dirty. There was a thin, rusted metal rod sticking through the curtain. Way too expensive for a terrible room.

Review 136:They have free wifi, but it's super slow. Almost unusable

Review 137:The A/C only blows in the front room so the bedroom stayed a little warm. It eventually cooled off by leaving the bedroom door open. The guests staying in the room above us were extremely noisy, dropping things on the floor and yelling at 3 in the morning. Not the fault of the hotel, but I suppose it's the kind of clientele a cheaper motel will attract.

Review 138:It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff is nice and welcoming. Free wifi is a plus.

Review 139:friendly people at the desk, I needed another blanket and they got it for me with a smile. Did not like the dumpster in front of my room had to find another place to park but figured it was because of the remodeling.
