Reviews for Citywest Hotel, Conference and Event Centre

Review 1:The cleaners are not very good we've stayed a few times because we do love the hotel the only fault is the rooms are not as clean as they cud be dust everywhere doors v dirty and they don't look up cause there are cobwebs everywhere, someone should be checking their work

Review 2:We have stay here a few times the staff are lovely lemongrass restaurant food is unbelievable.

Review 3:Twice security knocked on our door just after 3.30 am when we were in bed obviously they thought we were making noise which we never did. Very annoying. Also when we woke up my girlfriend noticed al lot of dust on table. To be honest I'm not one to complain but I could actually write my name table clear as day. Also double bed was two singles pushed together

Review 4:That staff at reception were nice and polite and room service was quick

Review 5:Attended a event there was disappointed that there was no entertainment afterwards. The bar and bistro could do with more seats

Review 6:Nice bathroom in the room and the breakfast was nice the next morning

Review 7:As it was New Year's Day,the leisure centre closed early and so we weren't able to avail of the facilities which was a little disappointing. Perhaps the hotel could have updated their website to reflect this. Room generally quite clean with the exception of dirty drinking glasses.

Review 8:Huge room with really comfy bed. Tastefully decorated relaxing room. Good value for money, will be back in the future

Review 9:Breakfast was poor and the service for a buffet breakfast was terrible as the queue was just too long for toast , sausages etc. This arrangement needs to be looked at as it brings down the hotel in my opinion.

Review 10:The room was very warm at night. The swimming pool is in a different building so you have to walk outside to get there. The steam room, sauna and jacuzzi are divided by gender which is not ideal for couples.

Review 11:The swimming pool was lovely as was the food at Lemongrass restaurant. The staff were very helpful.

Review 12:The shower in our Room did not work which was quiet disappointing as I had to was my hair in the bath which I haven't done since is was 3 years old! Also I know the hotel couldn't help this but a lot of children were running up and down the hall outside our room which was quiet annoying but I'm aware it was outside the control of the hotel staff!! Honestly though the room was gorgeous and staff were very friendly ☺️

Review 13:The room was fab!!!

Review 14:They staff were friendly enough, We were on top floorrooms were freezing & the curtain was broke in my sons room. There was six adults & four children for a meal the first night which we waited for nearly an hour. The children got chips which were not cooked properly. This has been my worst experience with City West hotel as I have stayed there numerous times before. I don't think I will be booking there again any time soon , very disappointing.

Review 15:The distance to and from the room was annoying especially with a baby and a pram. The food let us down on a number of occasions and was very expensive.

Review 16:The hotel itself is beautiful, I liked our hotel room, location of the hotel (shopping centre near by) and the pool was great.

Review 17:None

Review 18:Friendliness of staff on check in. Also must mention Kathleen Lambe at breakfast time. Very pleasant and helpful. Very grateful for upgrade of room. Fantastic. Much appreciated. We will return. Room 1833

Review 19:we had just one complaint on our visit this time, normally the breakfast is excellent but this time it was overcooked and lukewarm there were pieces of potato that looked as if they were cooked in dirty grease, really bad breakfast which surprised us.

Review 20:we have stayed in citywest many times and we love everything about it, it is our favourite hotel in Ireland. we had dinner in the Hibernian bistro it was lovely and great value.

Review 21:Cleaning lady very rude at 11.04 (yes we realise 4 minutes after checkout time) a knock came to the door and the aggressive tone that was used frightening!. Probably put me off staying again.

Review 22:Room although dated, Nice (but freezing cold when we arrived!).

Review 23:We booked a executive suite for the 27th Dec, we were celebrating a birthday so thought we would treat ourselves. We didn't get a suite we got a bog standard room with stains on the carpet and burn marks on bedroom furniture. We also weren't able to get room service because they don't do it on weekends!!

Review 24:The window in our room was broken and the shower leaked. Room decor was shabby. Some of the staff were aloof and were too quick to clear tables without enquiring if the glasses etc were finished with. No comment card in room, had to leave a note about room issues.

Review 25:The food was excellent and the beds were comfortable. Some of the serving staff at the function were really nice.

Review 26:The breakfast was tinned fruit & awful. Huge corridors & lots of walking. Really antiquated furniture & decor. Desperately needs refurbishment.Badly stained furniture. Dusty room. The thinnest towels. Asked three times at breakfast buffet,by three different members of staff within 1 minute, if we wanted tea or coffee. The coffee at breakfast was vile & very weak.

Review 27:It's location was good. Parking was free. The lemongrass restaurant was nice for food.

Review 28:I did not like how we got two single beds and when we pushed them together they kept separating

Review 29:I liked the service in the bistro the food was well presented and the rooms were very nicely decorated

Review 30:Pool and gym closes at 6pm at weekends so was very disappointed we didn't have time to enjoy these facilities as we were really looking foward to using them

Review 31:Beautiful hotel

Review 32:I found the reception staff extremely inefficient, my friend had rang ahead and left a message for me to be given and paid for the room , and I was never informed of this, very weak staff

Review 33:Restaurants were beautiful

Review 34:We have been to stay at city west on more than one occasion, and loved it. Our one year old also loved it. We found all staff very friendly. And during the summer city west offered great kiddies entertainment. We most definitely will be back x

Review 35:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautifully decorated. My room was clean, comfortable, peaceful and spacious. All the important things that make a hotel stay enjoyable.

Review 36:My room was cold.. Heating never came on.. Shower leaked I even complained about it the last time I stayed.. Awake till 2am because of party.. I had to be moved rooms the time before it because my room was poor aswel.. For €95 it was a rip off considering the room was poor!!

Review 37:No hot water in shower however hot water in the batch part Our bed room was situated right at the elevators with the head rest against them making very hard not to hear everything When we went down at half 10 to see if any food was available and being served I was was rudely turned away very fast we were only coming down late due to me being heavily pregnant I fell asleep when we arrived and woke up very hungry

Review 38:Comfy beds and nice lounge area

Review 39:Lift to Weston wing out of order with no apology or guide to alternative lift.Meal totally overpriced at 75euro terrible choice of main course tasteless bland starter & desert.Lack of seating.Dash of red lemonade as a mixer cost I.35cent (have retained receipt).Hopefully the camogie awards will not be hosted there again. It spoiled the honor of the award for the winners & guests.

Review 40:Room price reasonable.Ample parking with no charge.

Review 41:The weather

Review 42:I was their for the wako world kickboxing.and I will be back in March for the Irish open kickboxing . First class hotel grate rooms fantastic venue grate staff 5*****

Review 43:The bedrooms were a long distance from reception even accounting for lifts still a lot of walking..the kickboxing finals or something were on there was luggage everywhere Sunday morning they should have been made put in luggage room left it impossible to get around reception and dangerous..no smoking facilities in the leisure centre function room

Review 44:The bedrooms

Review 45:Work was being carried out to the exterior of the hotel near where my room was and it was noisy in the morning

Review 46:the facilities at the hotel are very good and the room was very comfortable

Review 47:Second booking with Booking.com and for the second time I had to pay an additional £40 to correct the booking at the desk. Won't be entertaining booking.com again!

Review 48:very busy always massive groups there was kickboxing this time and all there bags and them where every where you couldn't find a place to sit and have a drink as they where either lounging about or there cases everywhere

Review 49:Had everything that we need for our time there

Review 50:Was attending a wedding and couldn't have been put further away from the reception area despite the hotel knowing beforehand we were attending the wedding.

Review 51:The lack of eating places is a drawback. Thai restaurant is not to all tastes and too far from main hotel. Food in Bistro is dreadful and not up to standard for prices charged. Breakfast was OK 1st morning dreadful 2nd morning. Parking is very far from reception particularly in wet weather.

Review 52:The staff were very nice and pleasant.

Review 53:We got a room and it had 2 single beds .. So we had to wait until we got a double bed .. Den dinner was a disaster.. Had to wait 45 minutes for our starters and my was cold .. So had to sent it back ... Den got main course and it wasn't wat I ordered... Disaster .. Breakfast was cold and it was not a great experience bye all accounts ??

Review 54:We were unfortunate to be there the night the awards dinner was on TV very crowed and very noisy during the night it was ok very old fashioned room

Review 55:The staff were nice

Review 56:I didn't like the breakfast the rasher were like rubber the sausages tasted cheap

Review 57:I loved the hotel we went to attend Disney on ice the room was beautiful and clean

Review 58:Room too warm. Couldn't sleep, corridor noisy all night. Room service didn't answer phone. Could hear flushing of toilet, shower / taps running from next door.

Review 59:Car parking 10 min walk from hotel in rain. Then a 45 min check in time. Check in staff not very welcoming. Long wait for breakfast again due to queues. My request for a poached egg was refused as "too busy"!!

Review 60:Room was reasonable.

Review 61:The only thing was little disappointed with food in bistro.menu very good .had risotto seemed little too dry.my daughter couldn't eat pizza l tasted it wasn't great.l did tell waitress she was lovely but l still got charged.

Review 62:Child friendly.staff polite and accommodating.

Review 63:The only negative thing about the hotel was the fact that my daughter couldn't flush the toilet. The chain was very high and very difficult to pull.

Review 64:Brilliant hotel. Very convienent to Luas stop. Myself and my 5 year old stayed there while attending the Disney on Ice show. Hotel was very busy but coped extremely well. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 65:Children running around the breakfast room and there were pots of teas and coffees at the level of children- accident waiting to happen. Sausages snd eggs were cold in the buffet.

Review 66:Room was nice

Review 67:SERVICE WAS SLOW. NO ONE ANSWERED FOR ROOM SERVICE AFTER TRYING SEVERAL TIMES. IT WAS AS IF THEY WERENT PREPARED FOR THE BIG GROUPS THAT WERE BOOKED IN.

Review 68:STAFF WERE EXTREMELY FRIENDLY AND DID TRY THEIR BEST. THE HOTEL WAS EXTREMELY BUSY DURING OUR STAY.

Review 69:Was full to capacity waiting to check in was awful when I had to wait with a child also expensive for 1 adult & 1 child €115 it was nothing but a circus to many thing on at same time

Review 70:Location was ok because we were going to a show on site wouldn't stay if was going to show or shopping in city centre I came by train so had to get luas to hotel then walk 10 min very bad lighting on entrance dark & dreary

Review 71:Nothing, all good.

Review 72:The hotel was beautiful, the Disney on Ice event was amazing.. My little girl loved the whole experience.. Masie who works in the Leisure Centre was so kind and nice to speak to..Great experience will stay again hopefully..

Review 73:At check in they tried to charge me an extra 30 for my 6 year old saying I booked the wrong room. After speeking to the manager I was told they would charge me 10 euro for his breakfast and if anything happened to him that was my sole Responsibility. They made me feel stupid and kept insisting it was my mistake. Later when we showed them that I made no mistake they were rude and basically laughed at my mother for coming back up to show them that it was not our fault. They told her it had nothing to do with them and for us to take our complaint up with booking.com. The room was some wat clean, kettle didn't work, fan in the bathroom made an awful noise when the light was turned on and when we pointed it out we were told to turn off the light. We had to pull out a cabinet to plug in the kettle which behind was all dust and dirty. When leaving we asked could we get a taxi to the nearest luas stop as it was heavily raining and we would get soaked. She turned around and said sure can ye not walk its like only 5 mins (more like 20). We insisted and she pointed outside through the heavy rain and told us they were out there.I have never stayed in a hotel like it and such rude staff. I will never stay again.

Review 74:We had a smoking room but no ash tray. Got a bottle of white wine but no ice buckets left. Huge queue for dinner and when we finally got seated we ended up waiting 45 minutes between starter and main course, had to remind waiter we were there. Had paid for breakfast included in room rate but was asked to pay again at breakfast... Very confused server at breakfast. Paid too much money for a poor service

Review 75:Large room and lovely grounds

Review 76:It was all very positive and there is nothing negative to write

Review 77:Excellent location, beautiful hotel with spacious rooms. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great for parking and close to luas line if public transport required

Review 78:The tv signal was quiet poor and the picture kept stalling but that was the only thing I could fault the room on.

Review 79:We got food delivered from the lemon grass restaurant to our room. It was excellent value and fab. The breakfast was fantastic also. The room was very spacious and comfortable.

Review 80:We booked the superior double room top floor but it was a very dingy room with a tiny window and as it was a smoking room i dont think the window was big enough for the room we were disappointed this time with our stay at citywest hotel

Review 81:The car park is far away from the hotel and quite full so we had to walk quite a distance in the rain, carrying our bags. Our room felt like it was a kilometre away from reception. Breakfast was chaotic! There were so many guests, and the staff were dashing around trying to follow the guests with cutlery to their tables and clean them in the fly!

Review 82:Lovely staff at reception and even cleaning. Comfortable room. Fantastic meal in Lemongrass.

Review 83:Distance from car park when laden down.Didn't appreciate having to walk so far(had t return t reception to get key "re-swiped " X2.

Review 84:Convenience of access when travelling from West

Review 85:My hotel room had a very bad smell of smoke. It was only when I saw the ashtray that I realised we had a Smkoing bedroom, I didn't know that smoking hotel rooms still existed. My pyjamas stunk of smoke.

Review 86:The staff at the Citywest are fafntastic. We were there celbrating an Irish language event, all the staff made a real effort to accomodate us with a c úpla focal! Galánta ar fad!

Review 87:Breakfast was pretty tasteless. Hotel location is very poorly signposted. Drink is overpriced.

Review 88:Staff were very helpful. Steam room, sauna and leisure facilities were good. Food and atmosphere at the Lemongrass were great.

Review 89:Check in took over 1 hour. First room I was given was a smoking roomwhen I had asked for non smoking. I stayed in a junior suite. Room 3614.This is the worst suite I have ever stayed in. Right outside the bedroomwindow was 2 big extractor fans that make the Windows shake and there isa constant noise coming from. The noise kept me awake most the night onboth nights. When I told staff they just said I would have to deal withit. Not what I expect from the best room in the hotel!

Review 90:Location was good.

Review 91:The enormous hotel it was like an apartment block gone wrong very wrong That's why it all was wrong Too big Too many rooms Had no personal touch for the amount of rooms it has as a hotel it also would need to double it's staff , to have it work well And maybe even then it still wouldn't cut it as a hotel to many overly busy staff simply don't see the guest who clearly is standing right there in front of them waiting to be greeted and served

Review 92:The driveway into the hotel

Review 93:We were attending the Oireachtas, and found the reception and bar/ lounge areas too small and too hot to enjoy the music sessions or the dancing. In a hotel of its size surely the Oireachtas guests were entitled to a more spacious area. We also had to queue for food for a long time.

Review 94:Location was excellent, room was spacious and comfortable

Review 95:Restaurant very poor.. Soggy batter on haddock, lamb shank arrived cold, tables uneven balance. Four star hotel with two star quality. Facilitys very tired

Review 96:Location

Review 97:We paid for 3 rooms 2 with breakfast and only got one breakfast, I explained this all ready to reception but alas to know avail and so had to pay and extra €20 for breakfast which we had all ready paid. Peter.

Review 98:Very nice hotel lovely surrounding's and nice staff.

Review 99:Couldn't stay longer

Review 100:As I was there for a family wedding I found the organisation was excellent. The staff couldn't do enough for the couple and their guests. From the reception right through to the porters they were very friendly?

Review 101:Bed in initial room was sub standard and needed to be replaced and the TV system was functionally nonoperational with digital hiccups every 30 seconds or so.

Review 102:Most of the staff were courteous and very accommodating. The facilities were in an excellent state of repair, with exception of the TV system, and very clean.

Review 103:Our room was on the 2nd floor but the 2nd floor involved walking a mile before a lift was in sight, when you press the button for the lift, it does not come. It was a burdensome stay.

Review 104:Nice Bed

Review 105:Shower door didn't close properly, no hairdryer in the room, people in the corridor quite noisy during the night, which could be heard in the room

Review 106:Breakfast was nice, good choice. Pool was very nice

Review 107:I wanted to use the pool and I was told I had to prebook the facility .i called down to leisure Center evening before and was told I didn't as I was going to swim @ 9 but when I arrived , attendant told me pool was full

Review 108:Room was lovely and quiet and clean

Review 109:Access to room was via smoking floor . Pungent smell of smoke. Poor signage to rooms - had to telephone reception for guidance when lost due to poor signage outside lift Hotel dated even when upgraded to 4 poster room

Review 110:Location was ideal as Conference was at same hotel

Review 111:No breakfast included in booking which surprised us. Long walk to the room as the hotel is massive. No shuttle to the luas.

Review 112:The room was lovely, a large bed and lovely bathroom.

Review 113:Room Dark.EVEN IN DAYTIME/TELEVISION FAULTY TOO OLD/NO RADIO/NOISE ALL NIGHT FROM SOUNDED LIKE WASHING MACHINE.

Review 114:staff friendly.BUT COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT PROBLEMS/ALSO CHEAP TOILET ROLLS.

Review 115:It was tricky to find at first, the roads in Dublin can be a bit stressful. We were offered a smoking room which we took unaware that it was going to smell so bad, a little Febreeze would go a long way! There was noise from the toilet cistern and/or pipes for the whole night and our superior double room (BED) was infact two single beds pushed together which meant us sleeping apart as was too uncomfortable to have a cuddle. The Leisure centre was nice but the jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms are seperate for men and women which we found very unusual as we enjoy going to the pool and using the facilities together.

Review 116:The hotel grounds were nice. The lemongrass restaraunt had great food. Has luas nearby which can take you into the city and free parking and internet.

Review 117:Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The hotel was extremely busy and most members of staff I encountered were disinterested and direct, apart from the receptionist on checkout.

Review 118:Spacious clean rooms

Review 119:Phone was broken in the room, room wasn't cleaned properly, used condom left under the bed.

Review 120:I've stayed here before and everything is usually up to standard but on this stay it was definitely not up to standard, was very disappointed

Review 121:Food in resturant ok not much choice, breakfast choice ok but cooked choice was cold which makes it greasy and hard to handle.

Review 122:Good for over night stay when attending event at event centre .

Review 123:The whole ground floor reeks like an old ashtray and I was initially given a smoking room without even mentioning it to me. Very large building - be prepared for long walks, no direct entry from parking lot (have to go around the building), very busy and crowded always.

Review 124:Lemongrass restaurant, good Asian fusion cuisine.

Review 125:We didn't like how noisy the maids where in a morning, after getting back from the darts late didn't appreciate banging and shouting at 7.30-8 o'clock in morning

Review 126:We liked the easiness of being attached to the conference centre for which we had come to watch the darts

Review 127:There was a horrific smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor as we walked to our room. We had specifically requested a no smoking area, which we allegedly got. When we went to investigate where the smell was coming from,we found other guests in a room near us had their door wide open and were smoking cigarettes on the window in their room. We had to put forward a very lengthy objection to be moved. In fact it took an hour before we got another room. We won't stay here again as its quite apparent the Management have no policy in place to deal with guests smoking in a non smoking zone.

Review 128:The staff were helpful and polite.

Review 129:The staff at reception was surly and a little rude. I put that as a once of incidence. The rest of my stay here was lovely. Would definitely stay here again

Review 130:Nothing everything was ok really enjoyed.

Review 131:Overall this hotel was lovely. Couldn't fault it on anything really we travelled here and stayed two nights for the darts and had a lovely time ere. Rooms were fab and food was delicious too.

Review 132:I have always found the staff and quality of the hotel to be excellent therefore I have used this hotel on a number of occassions and I would recommend it to anyone.

Review 133:The drink is horrible had to change our lagers numurous times in the end got fed up doin this so had a vodka n 7up rip off nearly €9

Review 134:Loved the hotel n de staff

Review 135:Nothing

Review 136:Everything was fantastic from the location to the staff and the room was spotless. Didn't originally book breakfast but paid on the day and for €10 you couldn't expect more. Cannot Waite to stay there again.
