Reviews for The Nonantum Resort

Review 1:We were on the first floor, and our door was too close to the main pathway into the inn, so it got a bit noisy at certain times. Lots of people walking within a few feet of the door and talking normally, but still very noticeable.

Review 2:Location was excellent, not far from town, but not busy. Room was small but adequate and comfortable. Nice river view. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast.

Review 3:Terrible ambiance and food at dinner. Our room didn't have heat...in the older part. They need a good interior decorator to help that place out.

Review 4:Close to the ocean and town shopping. Staff was very helpful and the manger gave us a free upgrade on our room. When the dinner was not even close to our expectation, they comped our meal with sincere apologizes.

Review 5:Having to leave after just one night!

Review 6:The room overlooked the river/sea and had a very handy gas stove. It was clean and very cosy with great in-room facilities. Great staff and restaurant was also noteworthy. Location wonderful...simply a great place to stay

Review 7:Stayed on first floor of carriage house and noise from second floor was intolerable...sounded like the top floor was going to collapse. Staff said they are aware of the problem, due to hardwood floors and old construction. This is a serious problem which they plan to address this winter. If fixed I'd return in a heartbeat!

Review 8:Great staff...excellent recommendations, extremely helpful. And LOVED the shuttle also!

Review 9:Walls were paper thin and could hear the folks next door clearly. This was on the main building and the newer rooms may be better. Main house rooms are tight.

Review 10:Close to town and nice walks in any direction.

Review 11:Our meal in the restaurant was excellent, but our server was not. It took 1/2 hour to get our drinks even though we were there late and the restaurant was only 1/4 full. Our drinks were sitting on the bar and I had to get up and ask for them! Roll forward to breakfast and we were completely ignored by the coffee server who then said she wasn't working this room, but she clearly was!

Review 12:Very clean and cheery room. The pool was also clean and the perfect temperature. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Our meal in the restaurant was delicious.

Review 13:Very old main building means lots of noise from floors and poor sound insulation especially later in the evenings. Avoid rooms on 2nd floor above bar and lobby area.

Review 14:Lovely setting, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 15:N/A

Review 16:Great location away from hustle and bustle of tourist area. Quaint, old, well-kept hotel with a lovely view of the water. Had a quiet night's sleep in a comfy bed. Worked out great for a last-minute reservation.

Review 17:The pillows were too firm. Need a choice like Holiday Inn offers. Also, the blinds need to be room darkeners, as it was too light. FYI we are in our 70's.

Review 18:The room was wonderful with a view of the river. The weather was perfect.  We watched a wedding from our room at 5 o'clock, and we were married in Boothbay one year ago at 5, so it seemed especially nice! The wine and cheese and fruit were a nice touch, and dinner on the porch was almost private and the meal was excellent.

Review 19:1. I didn't like being humiliated by a staff member making personal comments while she was standing at the breakfast podium when my 93 year old mother was upset because they were going to charge me $14.95 for her breakfast when all she can eat is a piece of toast. I was so embarrassed that I chose to go back to our room and went elsewhere for breakfast. 2. No laundry facilities 3. The disconnected buildings

Review 20:1. The view from our room 2. Comfortable and clean beds & pillows 3. Within walking distance to town for the capable.

Review 21:Restaurants were closed. Staffer told us we'd have to walk to town to have lunch, but never told us there were much closer places to eat just down Ocean. In general, staff was not hospitable, though the Manager was lovely. Asking to use the shuttle and the elevator seemed to annoy the staff quite a bit.

Review 22:Kennebunkport is a lovely town to visit.

Review 23:The first room

Review 24:First they gave us a old looking room above the main AC unit. We asked to change because of the noise and they nicely upgraded us to a king with view of the ocean. The room was really amazing.

Review 25:Over crowding at breakfast.

Review 26:We were at a wedding which was to be held outside. However a thunderstorm put paid to that but staff reacted very well and the wedding was tremendous. Service at the meal was excellent and attitudes of staff were great.

Review 27:No self operated elevator Stairs were steep and could be difficult for some people Restraurant service was very slow and we had an issue with our bill Pool was used by kids and people not staying at the hotel

Review 28:Front desk staff was very nice

Review 29:Staff was not that friendly. It was crowded and there was a wedding going on right outside the room. Just overall not very welcoming. No one really went out of their way to offer good service. We did however have a really sweet waitress for dinner at the resort and the food was very good.

Review 30:The queen room was very small, with not much extra space for 2 adults to move around. Room was dirty, didn't look like floors had been vacuumed before we checked in and there was hair all over the furniture. Bathroom was outdated and the pedestal sink was awkward and had no room to place personal items. Mattress was one of the worst I have ever slept on; 4 days later my back still hurts. Whole place needs a revamp, as the stairways were filthy and stained and stairs were actually tilted in one section as if the building had shifted. Pool was small and overrun with kids from 8am - 10pm. With that many kids, my husband passed on the pool for more than one reason.

Review 31:Location on the river was scenic and free parking was a plus. The young staff they have are excellent and very friendly, including the young man who checked us in, the friendly shuttle driver and Ocean 95 restaurant waitress. Tuesday night lobster special at the restaurant was a great deal. Pay for the upgraded river view room. Walk to town isn't as far as they make it out to be ( we walked several times) but the complimentary shuttle is a plus for the hotel.

Review 32:Water bottles in room but chargeable at extortionate cost Boats available to use for rowing/kayaking but 40 dollars an hour - compared to free in other hotels Definitely a sense here that you had to pay for your pleasure on top of the room charge

Review 33:Nice but small room (and pretty expensive compared to many) Great view but came with a cost

Review 34:Matress was somewhat soft. The bathroom lights are sensor driven so if you get up at night, the light stays on for a while. Internet spotty.

Review 35:Great location to town. Breakfast buffet was quite good but a bit pricey.

Review 36:Breakfast was not included in our room, however we chose to pay for it anyway. It was amazing. A great spread. Wish it would have been included in our room price because it wasn't cheap.

Review 37:The kids activities were top notch. From movies to crabbing my 4 year old was in heaven.

Review 38:The hotel is very family friendly so if you don't want to hear children playing it is not for you.

Review 39:Friendly hotel, beautiful location on the River, walking distance to restaurants and stores.

Review 40:The lift wasn't working the first day but our bags were carried for us. I felt it was a shame we had to get someone to bring the lift for us, though they seemed very happy to do so.

Review 41:Everything - we had a lovely room overlooking the water and the room was very light and airy

Review 42:Our only complaint would be that our room was at the top of the stairwell and the exciting atmosphere of the people coming in as well as those dining, reverberated up the stairs. Just avoid this area and you will love it!

Review 43:Just the type of stay we were looking for. It fits right in with the whole Kennebunkport seaside village feeling.

Review 44:nothing that I can think of

Review 45:Family friendly staff, excellent food, comfortable beds. All around excellent choice for anyone traveling to Kennebunkport Maine. Outstanding!!

Review 46:We could not get the fan in the hvac to work so we called for help. Thestaff could not get it either so they brought us a table fan. The wallsare very thin so the fan noise kept it from getting stuffy and helpeddrown out the neighbors.

Review 47:The staff at the front desk and pub were wonderful.

Review 48:Some noise from the wooden floor above so try to get a high floor first!

Review 49:Super welcome and guide to local restaurants. Fresh room with newly decorated feel including bed linen and towels. Well placed to see George Bush seniors's abode etc. Great Internet too.

Review 50:The location was excellent and the staff was very personable. They were proactive in their efforts to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. It was a delightful time enhanced by a magnificent setting.

Review 51:I brought my 91 year old aunt to the Nonantum for a few days to see the foliage and relax. I knew this would probably be her last time away from home due to mobility issues. I wanted this to be special for her. I cannot express how wonderful the staff is here! They could not have been more supportive and caring to our special needs. We dined in the restaurant each evening and the food was delectable…never disappointed us. The location was perfect with meticulously groomed grounds and views of the water! I would recommend the Nonantum to anyone who still believes that customer service is the ultimate goal of an establishment.

Review 52:A hotel of that size and calibre should offer laundry facilities. Also the Elevator-you have to deal with thi its a big problem stairs are far too steep and narrow even for young people.!!!!

Review 53:The warm friendly atmosphere and the garden outside. The guitarist was excellent too!

Review 54:Old elevator may be historic but inconvenient.

Review 55:Lovely location and great for walking to town or towards ocean and spectacular views. Staff was very helpful.

Review 56:The staff was incredibly accommodating and couldn't have been more generous and friendly. We were upgraded to a room with an outstanding view! EVERYONE must take a ride on the Pineapple Ketch! We only wish we could stay longer!

Review 57:Having to leave!

Review 58:Beds were very nice with lots of pillows. View was great and the building was very accessible. Good parking short walk to elevator. Breakfast was very nicely done. The walk to town was just far enough to burn some extra calories, about 15 minutes.

Review 59:not a place if you just want a quite weekend. more of a family place with young children. I felt bad for those couples who held their wedding celebration at the Nonantum. location is beautiful but noisy pool area not conducive to solemn occaisions.

Review 60:the location is beautiful

Review 61:Not enough hot water when i took my showers cold water. They need a elevator No room fridge for my beer and cheese

Review 62:Location only place I could find at the last min

Review 63:Didn't like teeny room with queen bed for king people. Thought we could save $ and go for the queen (my fault). We were uncomfortable stayed only two nights out of four. Definitely not worth the price. Our hotel rooms driving there were twice the size for half the price. The breakfast was way overpriced 14.95 for very few choices. Not any better than a hotel breakfast. There elevator is a joke, so if you book with the idea of being able to go up and down in and out with ease forget about it. Fortunately we were there to see Maine.

Review 64:Very accommadating manager. Moving us from a room on third floor with no access to outside because of unable to use to use stairs to 1st floor with doors to deck.

Review 65:Only negative was the AC was loud at times. The night was cool enough that we just opened the windows and were comfortable.

Review 66:The staff were so friendly and service was excellent. everyone seem genuinely happy to be working there. The food was great. We had one of the best meals ever. our original plan was to eat one night at the hotel restaurant and the next somewhere but the food was so great we ate there a second night.

Review 67:We were in the old section and some updates are needed. Bathroom needs more places to hang towel. ex a towel ring for the sink. Air conditioner we had had to be replaced and the one they put in was so noisy it could only be used if we weren't there. For the cost they could have taken half a day's fee and bought a new one at Home Depot. Fortunately the weather didn't require much air conditioning.

Review 68:Meals, Excellent Our fortieth anniversary dinner was extremely well taken care of. Food prices are in line for the area and for the quality are actually probably underpriced. The staff was excellent, always friendly and more than ready to help. The room was very comfortable. The staff included our breakfasts which booking through Booking.com did not get included.

Review 69:A tad far from town to walk (about 1/2 - 1 mile), and the room was a little small. No elevator except at request. The room could use a full length mirror and a small fridge.

Review 70:Very clean hotel, a courteous staff, and comfortable. Nice size bathroom. Appreciated the free wi-fi and pool.

Review 71:The price we paid was way too much for a room with no view; (the parking lot) and the area we were told that the area we were in was recently updated. Hard to believe; the bathroom was especially awful. No room to put anything and the shower was awful, small and not even a shower curtain extender. Definitely would not recommend or return to this facility.

Review 72:The staff was very friendly and helpful, along with the pool staff. A great location to relax. I would definitely reccommend Nonantum Resort. Great place and a great vacation.

Review 73:Requested a lake view but was told that because I booked through Booking.com we got a view of the parking lot. The bathrooms were very 1960's, would not stay there again because of that. There was no place to put anything badly needed updating. The noise from other rooms kept us awake until well after 1 AM! Walls very thin.

Review 74:The staff was the best. Location, beds and food were excellent.

Review 118:Bit noisy due to multiple weddings over weekend.

Review 119:Historical, beautifully maintained, great location.

Review 120:It was more for families. Lots of children, which is great, but not as much an adult getaway.
