Reviews for Moab Under Canvas
Review 1:Location too close to the highway made for a noisy night and ruined the secluded atmosphere we were seeking.
Review 2:Comfortable beds in the tents, the experience of camping without needing your own tent..
Review 3:Proximity of the highway which does indeed cause a distrubing roar. The whole idea of the experience being to sleep out in nature looses its purpose with the traffic noise. At night it is low but nonetheless present. It was so hot inside the tent daytime, that you must give hope to be able to rest there! Be aware that Teepees are a lot less comfortable than. Finally note that the camp is not very very close to Moab (about a 15mn drive)
Review 4:The staff was very very helpful. Pete in particular. Nice vistas arounds. Loved the large bathroom tent.. felt like Out of Africa!
Review 5:I did not like the beds, they were too small. In the morning there weren't enough towels.
Review 6:I liked the clean tents and the fact that there were clean towels.
Review 7:It was awesome! The accommodations exceeded expectations. Very comfortable and cozy. We were traveling with two ladies in their late 70's and they thought Moab Under Canvas was an extraordinary experience. We watched beautiful sunrises and the star gazing was unlike anything I have seen before - perfect experience!
Review 8:Too close to the highway. Traffic noise kept us awake @ night. Also, they need a better sign out front.
Review 9:Our "tent" was as nice as tents get. Staff could not have been nicer.
Review 10:When I checked in mid-afternoon, it was probably at leasts 95 degrees in the tipi without much airflow. It did cool off somewhat in the evening and was bearable. A small fan is provided in the tipi, but I don't think would have done much good if the air temps hadn't cooled down to the 70's. The bathrooms had outlets, but they were not functional. The location is right off the highway, so you do hear road noise all night.
Review 11:Moab Under Canvas is a cool idea and pretty well executed. I like the idea of camping, but hate bringing all the gear. MUC takes cares of all of that. I stayed in a tipi and the cot was surprisingly comfortable. The bathrooms are compact but adequate and private. A sleeping bag, pillow and blanket are provided, but I was glad I had my own sheet and very light blanket, because it was way too warm to crawl in a sleeping bag.
Review 12:Let down by close proximity to highway and the generator that buzzed allnight long. For a camping experience these two aspects really detracted.Note: most tents probably don't hear the generator but ours and atleast 2 others would have. Why not move it further away!? The batterypowered light was adequate but for this price point I think the abilityto charge your camera/phone etc should be available in the tent.
Review 13:Great staff, tent was a really nice space and the scenery was awesome.
Review 14:Not a bad experience but cleaner groundswell would be good (maybe encouraging people to take their shoes off)...location a bit further from busy road...
Review 15:Friendly staff
Review 16:Appreciated the showers, but the doors didn't lock on all doors making for awkward encounters. location is difficult to see as the sign is up on a bluff and not noticeable at 65 mph.
Review 17:Great location, super friendly staff, a fun experience.
Review 18:My fiance, who had never been camping, was a bit disappointed about the lack of electricity! Lol
Review 19:Very picturesque setting. Nice campfire every evening, arranged by the staff, complete with everything needed for smores. Tent was well appointed.
Review 20:Natural design with respect of environment, no electricity supply, water efficiency in use. all those ideas are great to educate my son. The Canvas is located right facing the Arches with amazing sunrise in the morning. At the night, the dark sky provide beautiful stars and galaxy. The stay provides us unbelievable experience.
Review 21:a little far off Moab. I mean its 15 min drive to town center,... Its not to far.. but still.
Review 22:amazing experience and great quality tents, with hot water and good pressure. Overall an amazing experience !!
Review 23:It was a romantic place for us, a young couple. Watching the sunset and spotting rabbits while drinking wine outside of a teepee was a wonderful treat! Also, if you order the breakfast burrito it is enough for two - great value.
Review 24:- room flooded - tents next to the road. At night you can hear the cars as well as see there headlights when lying in bed. - spider in the room. - no sockets to charge your items, like other luxury tents I have stayed in. - no lock on the tent! - Over priced!!! A complete waste of money!
Review 25:Absloutly nothing!
Review 26:Love love loved Moab under canvas. No other way to experience moab other than camping. And what's better than taking it up a few notches to glamping. Beds were clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were great considering your camping. Very clean. Staff was super friendly- be patient with check in etc. wifi is not the strongest in the middle of desert. Misters in the room really help cool you off on those hot afternoons. We stayed in a safari tent and couldn't recommend it more.
Review 27:The proximity to the highway makes for some noise... Not unbearable or anything but it does take away a bit of the feeling of being surrounded by the stunning natural wonders of Arches.
Review 28:Great location, people and very comfortable camping for a great prices. Be sure to order breakfast and lunch before 8pm.
Review 29:The street noise took away from the experience, but coming from a city, we are use to noise, so it was a minor issue. I didn't like that the BBQ grills were so far away from the tents, and that we couldn't park our car next to our tent.
Review 30:The staff was wonderful and the service was outstanding. Beautiful location, nice to have BBQ grills and fire pits for my family of 8 to enjoy.
Review 31:Noise from road - why not move all the tents further away?
Review 32:Amazing views looking towards Arches park. Tents are quite spacious and the front deck on the luxury version is great.
Review 33:The people there were extremely nice and helpful, there were a bonfire in the evening and everything was clean. We were very happy about our stay, and would definitely recommend it!
Review 34:Too close to the road. Bed was very angled. Wasn't a single mattress. Staff lost my brothers booking even though charging
Review 35:The setting was nice, but just too close to the road. Bed was comfortable just wasn't a king, was two individual mattresses put together
Review 36:Nothing accept it had to end. I`ll go back the first chance i get
Review 37:The people make it work like a fine tuned machine. Camp fire at night, the tents. All the work of camping is done for you. Its set up and your ready to relax and enjoy all the Utah has to offer. ITS ASSUME!!!!!
Review 38:Had family from Germany visiting, they loved the campground. Never seen so many stars at night. It was a relaxing and peaceful visit. The staff was super nice and helpfull. Great experience!!
Review 39:After a long day of driving and hiking, this was the night to stay in a comfortable hotel. Our bad. Had to laugh, I completely forgot that outdoor showers do not have hot water. A 3:30 a.m. cold shower was an eye opener for sure. Got me ready to hike to Delicate Arch before sunrise!
Review 40:Something different than a hotel. Very close to Arches NP. Staff was extremely nice in person and over the phone. We arrived very late and they took care of us just as nicely as any other guests...and without disturbing others.
Review 41:I could go on and on about the view and the location, watching the sun set over Moab, but that's just the start of this lovely place. The staff was amazing and helpful. They even carried our luggage to our tent for us. The tents were nicer than most of the hotels we stayed at while on our road trip.
Review 42:They ran out of wash cloths and that was frustrating. When we tried to get more the staff never brought them as promised. They need more help at the front desk.
Review 43:The location to Arches and Cayonland was great and sleeping in teepee a and cots was comfortable and a great experience.
Review 44:Cots jn standard tent were very narrow and uncomfortable, a good night's sleep was impossible. Coffee at reception undrinkable. Too expensive for lack of comfort and location far outside of Moab.
Review 45:I liked the size of our standard tent. The young guys at reception were friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Sleeping bags and towels were provided.
Review 46:We loved sleeping in our tent hearing nature. They provided a fan and tents vented so we were extremely comfortable! The view and location was wonderful and the staff was amazing. Loved the stay and can't wait to go back!
Review 47:Unfortunately our tent was located close to the highway so our stay was not that peaceful. Aside from that we loved the experience.
Review 48:We loved the fact that we were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and outdoors by camping in Moab.
Review 49:It was so nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Moab, but close enough to enjoy it. The beautiful location with a 360 degree view, sweet teepees, and more stars than I could count. The bathroom facilities were excellent - certainly exceeded my expectations for a camping experience!
Review 50:Little pricy as for a tent (ok, fancy but still a tent), next time I would choose sleeping in my own tent for less money on regular campsite.
Review 51:Super friendly staff! Comfy beds and breakfast option available. The idea of the tipis is very nice itself and we definitely enjoyed! Loved the rabbits running around in the morning! :)
Review 52:I liked it all. My sister wanted to camp, I can't sleep on the ground. Was the BEST compromise. The staff was friendly and helpful. We asked about zip-lining, and they had experience and advice for us. This City/Country girl loved it!!!!!!
Review 53:Everything on site was perfect except for the main road near by amd the constant loud roar of traffic all day and all night. This ruined the stay for me. No sleep!
Review 54:The proximity to canyonlands amd archers. The tent itself was amazing as were the views from tent. The whole eco aspect of the site and communal camp fire
Review 55:We loved everything about staying here.
Review 56:Community fire at night allowed us the opportunity to meet others from around the world. Great staff, great location, great experience. We also liked that there was no electricity in our camp.
Review 57:Neighbors noises are quite present, but this would be the case at any camp ground.
Review 58:No need to worry about packing all the gear and showing up early to get the best camping spot! Everything is ready and waiting for you, providing the comforts of a hotel and the adventure of camping all in one!
Review 59:Bathrooms were not functioning @ their topnotch capacity, but staff werediligently on top of the problems -- very good staff, obviously over-working to get things just right. You really ought to put in a littlesnack bar with deli sandwiches and cold milk available. Could apply fora State permit to carry beer and wine.
Review 60:Despite weather trying to intervene, the staff were skilled in makingcomfort a central issue. We think the staff are superb, even thoseyounger ones who had to endure the same weather, made the cheeriness and'positives' far exceed the hamperings. We'll d it again!!
Review 61:Early morning, no fire, one handed Camp Shower was an awakening experience but the hot water system kicks in well. You need to remember that this is cheating still when it comes to camping.
Review 62:Great reception once you are able find the place. Bed is super comfortable and fire stove gives the tent enough heat. Private bathroom worked out well.
Review 63:I am not a camper as most experiences have not been comfortable. This evening I slept great in their comfy bed and down comforters! I loved the staff, the views and the other people there were so friendly.
Review 64:There weren't any towels for the bottom bathrooms. When I asked about this at the reception tent, the night staff suggested that I go look for some towels in the other tents but the upper bathrooms. Not a problem really, but I would expect the staff to check the facilities constantly since this isn't really cheap accommodation.
Review 65:The staff welcomed us in a professional and friendly manner. The location and experience as everything we hoped for - we felt like young kids again camping and appreciating the beauty of God's creations.
Review 66:I don't think we saw enough!!! The staff was so great and friendly, huge road biking/MTB community. cant wait to come back, we are already planning our next visit
Review 67:The second morning all the clean towels were gone and there was no hot water.
Review 68:Sleeping out in a teepee, very clean teepee and bathrooms/showers, warm sleeping bags
Review 69:Weather during our stay dampened the mood a bit.
Review 70:Clean tipis (tents for two to four people). Great staff. Great location. Great experience and fun time.
Review 71:The sign was a little hard to see.
Review 72:Ben was Great & extremely helpful! I loved disconnecting, the stars, community fire, glowing tents. You don't get that in a hotel!
Review 73:There wasn't anything that I didn't like.
Review 74:Everything! The staff was exceptional and provided service like I havw received at places like Ashford Castle in Ireland, The Plaza in NYC and The Cliff House at Pikes Peak.
Review 75:The road was noisy during the evening/night, and in the morning as it only a few hundred feet away, but I woke up at 3am and it was silent then. Moab is quite a way away; a good 15 minute drive. Our 3 man tent only had 1 chair, unless you sit on the small table. Other tents are pretty close; we could hear quite a lot, and they allow dogs, which were barking.
Review 76:The setting; sunset and dawn were amazing. The 'reception' tent had coffee and the ability to order breakfast which was great as we were only there for 1 night and didn't have cooking facilities.
Review 77:our tent leaked and the staff made no attempt to help us. we put the trash can under the leak and it filled up 1/3 of the way. the staff were no help the next night and they wouldn't let us trade tents although we were there for 4 nights. bathrooms were cheaply made and doors wouldn't lock. a sign to designate that its in use. lighting was poor and the lights they gave us didn't work well, cheaply made. for about $100/night, a tipi that hit you in your sleeping bag....when the wind blew and a leak that covered the floor of the tent with water so that we had to keep our luggage on a cot so that it wouldn't get soaked.
Review 78:location was perfect to visit canyon lands, arches, and dead horse point. the ambience was nice when it wasn't cold and windy and wet.
Review 79:Slightly disappointed by this after staying at a an amazing glamping camp in monument valley. Checked in and given impression of trying to create hotel experience, however for being 'in the middle of the desert' it was more 'less than a mile from the freeway' and that could be seen from the tents. When we were there also there was no hot water, and many of the ticket were blocked with broken flushing. The tents were also were packed closely together which detracted from the isolated feel we were expecting
Review 80:The only negative is that it is very close to the highway and we were there on a particularly busy weekend so there was a bit of road noise, but it didn't bother us enough to not want to come and stay again.
Review 81:This was our first experience with this kind of accommodation. It felt like we were on safari in the desert. The tents were well appointed, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the setting was beautiful. We would definitely stay there again.
Review 82:A bit noisy with the highway close by but the location is amazing and after an active day it was not a problem to sleep.
Review 83:The location close to both the Arches and Canyonlands National Parks was excellent to visit both parks and experience the outdoors. Friendly staff, good idea to order breakfast on request for guests. Nights were cold and we enjoyed the clean heated showers and the comfy beds. We also enjoyed evenings by the fire, the night sky with all stars is amazing!
Review 84:I love camping so this stay was great since they already had everything you need set up. The bathrooms/ showers were better than expected. I was cozy despite the cold weather outside.
Review 85:If there has to be a downside it was the rumbling of the traffic on the nearby 191road situated near by .
Review 86:What a wonderful concept . The staff could not be more accommodating . Myself being not the smallest of men had slight problems with the camp bed in the tee pee. I made mention of this and without hesitation was given an upgrade for my second night . So as to get a good nights sleep . The views were just stunning over the whole area .
Review 87:Hard to find in the dark (look for the faint LED lights) Cots squeaked loudly (bring ear plugs)
Review 88:The location was excellent Showers had hot water Staff was accommodating Views are spectacular (especially if there's a full moon)
Review 89:The fact that our vehicle was so far away from our tent site and that is where we were instructed to evacuate to, with the thunder and lightening, heavy wind and rain made it a little "trying" - possibly dangerous?
Review 90:Unfortuantely i can not rate the quality of sleep, for mother nature stepped in and forced evacuation due to gale force winds and continuous rain which flooded our tent. It was a bit of a bummer because the tent was great, the bed seemed to be comfortable and the bathroom facilities clean.
Review 91:It was a great experience, I would love the price to be a little friendlier.. but it's MOAB. So there's a limit to those expectations.
Review 92:Quality, Cleanliness, Friendliness, Views, Setup
Review 93:The equipment like the lanterns and fans inside the tipi were very poor quality & malfunction should be expected, so it's very difficult to see anything once the sun sets. (we did bring flashlights) The tipi leaked and we put the trash can under the leak so that our floor wouldn't be a lake by the time we woke up and it filled 1/2 way up while we used towels to soak up the puddles. Wind makes the wet tipi hit you while you're in your confining sleeping bag, but moving to the center of the tipi means the rain would drip on you and your bedding. The price at $90-$100 per night for no electricity and no service when you ask for someone to help is another issue. Bathrooms were small and smelled bad, doors didn't close or lock on most of them. A system of allowing people to say it's occupied is necessary.
Review 94:location is perfect for visiting Arches, Canyonlands, and Dead Horse Point. it's closer than Moab, but just close enough where it's convenient to go shopping in town
Review 95:- It is close to i191 so you're going to hear the cars at night
Review 96:I stayed three nights end of September in the tipi and loved it. - general location close to Moab and the national parks - staff is helpful and guided me to some awesome hikes outside of the national parks which aren't so crowded - tipi tends are great (you can stand up straight inside) and functional - restrooms & showers are clean and functional - sky at night and the sunrise are priceless
Review 97:There were a couple of bathrooms, in which the locks were not operating, leading to a most embarrassing encounter. There also seemed to be times in the morning when there was no available hot water for showers.
Review 98:This is a well thought-out concept. It is in a great location, not far from Arches Nat'l Park and also very scenic. All the facilities are very clean and the evening bonfire led to a very, convivial, communal and comedic night's entertainment.
Review 99:The location is a bit unconvenient: 10 miles from town and park, and too close to the highway
Review 100:If you are within 300 miles from Moab and have no tent with you, you have to come here! That was the real camping experience without packing and loading the car.
Review 101:- too hot inside canvas during day, can't really relax/nap inside - temp inside closely feels like temp outside - 6x restrooms inside a big trailer within walkable distance - can't park next to your tent, must park in the lot - no wifi - no outlets - website says main desk can charge your devices if needed, but sign at front desk says $5 for the service - 5 of 6 of the bathrooms had non working exhaust fans - EXPENSIVE: next time I would choose the cheaper tipi
Review 102:+ beautiful scenery + nice decor, felt clean + great glamping experience + good for one night stays + well lit areas at night + our tent also came with a tipi that has 3x twin beds + AT&T reception was good + staff was very nice and friendly + towels easily accessible near bathrooms + free water refills for your bottles + staff help bring luggage from car to your tent + located right off the freeway, a few miles from Arches + sleeping at night was fine with provided sheets
Review 103:You have to pull and hold a string in order to get continuous water supply during shower.
Review 104:It's pretty expensive but you pay for the experience. Stargazing at night is romantic. The shared bathroom was cleaner than I thought.
Review 105:Price-performance ratio was too bad. At a normal campsite one would pay for the same comfort (which was pretty low) max. 15 Dollars per person. We expeted a lot more, especially since the homepage was so promising. Unfortunately the lady at the reception was not very friendly and helpful when we arrived which gave the whole thing another bad taste. It was very difficult to find the location in the first place since the sign is tiny and almost invisible at night. The whole project seemed to be more a nice try of some students than a serious accomodation facility.
Review 106:The idea is very interesting and nice; beds were comfortable and the night sky real nice. Breakfast was huge and good.
Review 107:Hwy 191 NOISE prevalent & i am deep sleep person. Hard to find entrance to property at night. Explanation of shared bathroom was not as descriptive as it cud have been. Price point 1 person excess.
Review 108:Tipi well made Staff helpful& courteous Idea Concept great!
Review 109:The whole point of a place like this is to sleep under the stars in the peace and quiet of the dessert right? That's not going to happen here. 1) -100 yards from the highway! So be ready to listen to the peaceful sounds of trucks. 2) - They ran their generators all night long. UN-acceptable by any standard especially since customers don't even get electricity. 3) - They drive little golf carts around well into the night as people arrive. I don't see why they can't just walk people to their tent, but they feel a need to drive carts everywhere. You may say "golf carts are not so loud"... electric ones are not,,but these are gas and sound just like a lawn mower... On top of that they don't turn their headlights off, so your tent lights up like the sun every time they drive by your tent. Try sleeping through that. 4) - The bathrooms (trailers), are lit up with flood lights, so a large portion of the sky that we are "camping" to view.. is blocked by the brilliant flare of the bathrooms. 5) - the cots provided are cheap and tiny. I have a folding cot in the back of my car that is larger and more comfortable ($35 from wal-mart). And for this lovely accommodation you get to pay the price of a standard hotel (much much more if you get their delux tents). Do yourself a favor and take your money to wal-mart, buy a tent and cot both of which will be larger and more comfortable. Then you can have a proper quiet night under the stars. p.s. they even have the gall to charge $5 if you wish to charge your phone. You get to listen to their generators roar all night, but apparently you still have to pay extra if you wish to benefit from them.
Review 110:It was clean and well maintained.
Review 111:Number of showers might be a problem on full occupancy
Review 112:This really is a unique experience. You van watch the Sunset/Sunrise over Arches National Park. We had the Safari tent, which is large and had a good bed. The showers and toilets are clean, but there might be wait in the morning. If you look for a place that offers peace and quiet, this is it!
Review 113:Water in shower was pre-mixed, bit of a bummer when all you want is a cold shower to escape the heat - but it's a really minor complaint! Noticed some tents were closer to the road than others, ours wasn't though - just a thing to keep in mind, you get what you pay for.
Review 114:Staff were friendly and helpful. The views were beautiful from tent #7 - sunset, the night sky and sunrise were amazing. Bed was comfortable and it was awesome "camping" with a real bathroom!
Review 115:You must be prepared to drive about 9 miles into town for dinner. You can purchase breakfast and lunch at an exorbitant price but the former will be not hot unless you pick up early and the lunch was a soggy mess by the time we ate. There was no shampoo in the bath as advertised , and simple things like turning off our tent light and making sure the fan worked were not taken care of promptly or at all. The guide also opened our tent to other guests after we were asleep because he was "confused" as to the correct location. This is a really expensive tent and I would expect better service for the price.
Review 116:You can't surpass the beauty of the environment. The tent itself was lovely and well spaced. The bed was excellent.
Review 117:The didn't like the noise of the traffic at night which made it a challenge to get to sleep.
Review 118:We liked the whole idea of camping without the effort of putting up our own tent. The accommodations are good and the bathroom better than expected. We were able to order breakfast which turned out to be very good and we like eating outside under a tent looking at the spectacular view.
Review 119:Leaving :)
Review 120:Beautiful scenery, the desert floor, so many stars above...do you want to be stuffed into some tiny motel room? We talked to people from around the globe at the campfire...priceless.
Review 121:Zipper on our tent was broken (so little flying and crawling critters came in after dark), have to schlep your luggage a ways from car to tent (but this is no fault of the property), not close to local eateries or fuel stations, so we brought a cooler with drinks and snacks.
Review 122:Creative lodging option, glamping, amazingly comfortable beds, great views day and night, proximity to Arches Natl Park. We really enjoyed sitting on our porch at sunset, watching the stars at night, and again at sunrise. I have always wanted to stay in a tent like this.
Review 123:- Hwy too close - some tents were set up for staff, now used for guests (western tents) - it can be very hot in summer
Review 124:- tent and beds - cooling by water misting - great view (only eastern tents) - free cold water, hot tea and coffee
Review 125:Quite difficult to find. Extensive amount of wildlife in the shower and toilet facilities, could do with a bug repellent or something to keep them out. Generators are quite noisy and smell really fumey, a tent near here would be undesirable.
Review 126:Very clean comfy and spacious 'tents'. Beautiful views at sunset and after dark. Great experience being out in the desert.
Review 127:The Cypriot gal was kind of grouchy when it came to delivering our belongings to our tent. I'm sure she was a nice gal--maybe there were cultural issues. Also, I found the hefty anglo gal who runs the front desk during the day shift a bit of a pain.
Review 128:Steve (?) was friendly, enthusiastic and a fountain of knowledge about Moab Under Canvas, hiking trails, the La Sals, places to eat in Moab, and was always ready with the coffee early in the morning. You need more like him !
Review 129:The traffic noise will probably disturb your sleep but I had earplugs so I didn't hear anything. Some of the staff speaks poor English and are not very hospitable.
Review 130:We didn't have any expectations for this place after reading the other reviews. The good thing was the cleanliness of the tent and facilities. The place has a lot of potential but it's poor value of money. They could at least include breakfast in the price.
Review 131:Our tent was near the highway, and we heard the trucks going by all night. They wanted to charge me $5 to charge my phone after I paid $185 to sleep in a tent. Tent was not on a raised floor like shown in all the photos. No power outlets in the bathrooms.
Review 132:The tent was very nice and comfy, bathrooms were very nice trailers with showers. Campfire at night was fun.
Review 133:Front desk, need to have someone more friendly. Need more showers or LIMIT folks on time.
Review 134:Experience, location to Arches & Canyon lands. Tent Space
Review 135:Location was hard to find. The sign was small and not well lighted. Nobody picked up phone when called for directions until the 3rd time. Noelectric in tent, so you can't charge phone. The "lobby"had outlets, but were mostly used up and only could accommodate one ofmy chargers. The shower was riduculous . . . . . . . . . you had to useone hand to keep holding the lever on for water to come out. And no hotwater! Check again next morning, same thing , no hot water! I checkedand found both propane tanks were completely empty! Went and told thestaff and they didn't seem to care much. This was the worst campingexperience I ever had . . . . . . . .
Review 136:I only liked the description on web, the real experience was acomplete failure.
