Reviews for The Colony Palms Hotel
Review 1:My husband was really annoyed about the "Resort fee" Which was $34 a night.
Review 2:Very comfortable bed and lovely robes to wear around the room The facility is lovely, and in a perfect location for the International Film festival.
Review 3:The carpet in the room appeared to be worn and dirty. We were upgraded twice, and the room was still not comfortable to spend much time in. We were not allowed to cancel our reservation even after it was announced that it would be pouring rain for the dates we had scheduled which is not a user friendly policy.
Review 4:Location, hotel grounds, restaurant
Review 5:Staff was very nice, they upgraded my room for my Birthday (although it was a Sunday night...). We had an amazing stay there overall. Perfect weekend getaway and loved the music by the pool!
Review 6:If I have to say something- it would be that I wished there was a full length mirror in my room. I was there on business and wanted to make sure I was looking sharp :)
Review 7:I'm in the desert a lot for work and have stayed in many hotels but this is my favorite place to stay. Love the decor, location. The bar/restaurant is awesome and rooms are clean and comfortable.
Review 8:Amazing place! Best hotel in Palm Springs! Has such a cool vibe, the pool area is very nice..good for tanning during the day and lounging with wine and good music at night..very romantic . Rooms are very nice and clean. Walking distance from all the restaurants and bars and 5 minutes away from Palm Springs Tram. Definitely coming back! P.S. Restaurant by the pool has the BEST French toast I ever had in my life!!!
Review 9:There wasn't one thing I didn't like about this place is give a million star rating .
Review 10:The establishment had such a great vibe I loved it. I defiantly refer it to friends if they are going in that direction .
Review 11:Beautiful hotel grounds with great pool and bar/restaurant area. We loved all the tiles. The rooms are great with the most comfortable beds & big bathrooms. Walking distance to central Palm Springs shops too. We'll definitely be back!
Review 12:Not that I didn't like this but you changed chef's, which I know is inevitable in a transient tourist destination, but I will get used to the new menu which was great, btw... Also note to new mgmt.: the lure of your spot is the lush, french gardens. Please stop trimming the plants... lol
Review 13:Great staff from the front desk to the Gardeners to the Valet, etc. I am a regular and will miss coming to stay once my house is done... but I will always come back for the bar. You should sell daily pool pass like the Four Seasons in Westlake. So locals like me can come and hang at the pool there if they don't want to hang out at their house pools. FS sells a daily pool pass for $50 and you have access to pool and restaurant.
Review 14:There was a wedding taking over the complete property the day we were there... We wish we had been advised. The pool was crowded & not relaxing since the lights, sound system and wedding party were taking up the available space. We went for breakfast and at first were told that if we weren't with the wedding party, we couldn't eat there. This was cleared up and the hotel comped our breakfast but, since we were hoping for a getaway day to just relax, we were disappointed. We would recommend this hotel but, call and ask if they're having any events first!
Review 15:Very friendly staff, free valet & self parking. Nicely designed upgrade to a 1930s property. Very good restaurant & a glass of rose at the front desk when we arrived!
Review 16:Kids arriving on our last day there. Glad they were not there majority of the time. I all ways feel the colony palms is more of adult resort not a family destination.
Review 17:Nice staff. Friendly guests.
Review 18:We had our "service" sign on our door all day Saturday and no one ever came to clean our room our entire stay! We ran out of towels and when we went to swim one night and there were no towels we were advised by the front desk staff to just use the ones in our room. If we had towels in our room we would have....obviously we have zero towel options that's why we are asking you for towels! There was also this guy with longer hair working the bar inside the restaurant on Saturday night who clearly hates his job! He was honestly the rudest person I have ever met and should consider working a job where he has no human contact because he was just horrible at it! We started with the hummus plate and decided to not eat anything else here because it was horrible! It was overly salty and just gross...how do you manage to screw up hummus? Overall I was massively disappointed at how much we spent at this place because it was just not worth the amount of money we spent. We will use our better judgement next time and just stay where we usually do at the JW in palm desert. We spend close to the same amount of money but our room gets cleaned, and we are always treated with the utmost respect and hospitality. Last thing I will add...I was really excited about the C.O. Bigelow products in the bathroom and they even give you a lip balm...I opened it to use at the pool one day to find someone had used it! I'm assuming the housekeeping staff just left it in the room after the previous guest used it and then left it there! I'm sorry but that is disgusting and I meant to mention something to the housekeeper when I saw them but no one ever came to clean our room.
Review 19:Very cute property, felt secluded and away from the downtown area which was nice. Loved the room and the decor was absolutely stunning! The pool area was nice and the staff serving drinks at the pool were friendly and very attentive.
Review 20:The hotel is quite run down, it doesn't look like the photos on the website. It definitely needs a renovation.
Review 21:Great food at the restaurant and good location for downtown.
Review 22:Lots of bugs around the pool area and in the pool. Also think it's strange that a hotel guest needs to pay an extra charge of $100 per day to use the cabanas...
Review 23:Friendly staff, quality of food
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:Comfortable,clean, efficiently air-conditioned rooms. Plenty of seating, much of it with shade, around the pool, and in the gardens. Nice bar adjacent to the pool. Good choice of breakfast eaten by the pool (which had to be paid for). Free parking. About 15 minutes stroll to town centre
Review 26:There was nothing not to like
Review 27:Great location. Pool area excellent. Room excellent and air conditioning was quite, it was so hot in Palm Springs this was required on all through the night. Great hotel
Review 28:I spilled some nail polish in the evening on the top sheet and felt bad about that until morning when I pulled it back to see if it seeped through to the comforter and found a nice plate size old dog pee stain that had been there for a while and could have been washed out. Then I didn't feel so guilty about the polish stain because then I wouldn't have seen that you don't wash your bedding regularly.. I took photos and showed the front desk.
Review 29:I love this hotel and the staff. The food, the pool, the vibe, the grounds are magical. I will always come back but ...
Review 30:The entire experience was so much fun and so relaxing! The staff are fabulous, very service oriented! The place is clean and well kept and the pool is fun! Bikes are included in the resort fee, parking is too and so is valet! Walking distance to fabulous restaurants!
Review 31:Sadly we only had 1 night. Arrived a bit frazzled after arriving in the mroing from cruise in Long Beach and driving from there. Young staff very welcoming and I did make of mess of my booking when th9ught I had pre paid but staff able to explain.
Review 32:It was a busy weekend and it took a long time to get our room. We had an anxious little toder waiting to swim. We had to wait about an hour to get our room and then another 30 minutes for our bags to arrive.
Review 33:We love the rooms and pool.
Review 34:The resort fee and all the taxes that come with the resort fee are a very expensive joke. Also felt like they were a little understaffed by the pool/ bar
Review 35:Beautiful morrocan style boutique hotel right in the center of the design district. No need to drive around to get anywhere. The food was great too.
Review 36:Only "complaint" is minor- spa offers only massage and body treatments, had to search around for pedicure.manicure.
Review 37:From the moment we walked in, we felt valued as guests. Hotel grounds are beautiful, well maintained, bed was like a cloud. We had a small issue with the bathroom shower, it was fixed immediately. Staff are fun, friendly, and seem to enjoy their jobs.
Review 38:All good.
Review 39:After a grinding drive from L.A. we were restored by a restful night's sleep and a quiet morning breakfast poolside, overlooking lush grounds and the backdrop of mountains.
Review 40:Everything was great! The hotel was fully booked but it did not feel that way at all. Room 4 has a nice claw tub Just a beautifly relaxing time with excellent food and nostalgic feel!
Review 41:The rooms are shabby, run down and feel like a total rip off for the price, my advice is stay somewhere else and visit the bar and restaurant, very disappointing
Review 42:The bar, restaurant and pool area are gorgeous
Review 43:Rooms were small with limited storage, very weak shower, not really aimed at families we felt
Review 44:Good location, warm pool as weather was cold in morning, nice bar, very friendly staff, good wi fi, nice pool area
Review 45:It was expensive for what was provided. The staff did the bare minimum. I was also disappointed in the on site restaurant. I ordered a salad for lunch. The chicken was dry and the romaine limp, $20+. When we called in I was offered a room away from the pool. When we arrived at 1 in the afternoon we were given a handicap room near the pool and the shower had some flooding issues. We also woke up to them painting the walkway outside of our room which was a huge negative due to the smell and inconvenience. The cost was $400+ a night (averaged)Sat/Sun so I would expect a higher quality experience.
Review 46:The hotel itself was quaint and pleasing. It captured the feel of old Palm Springs. We enjoyed the short walk to the center of town and restaurants. The location was excellent. Parking was easy. Landscaping was beautiful, pool and jaccuzzi nice.
Review 47:My fault. When I realized our room (7) was near an electrical closet of some sort that emanated a slight hum through the wall, I could have asked for a change of rooms. But I didn't bother and chose to not give the slight sound my attention. As mentioned before, the staff is so wonderful that I'm sure if i'd have asked for a different room, they would have accomodated immediatly.
Review 48:Staff is always amazing. The grounds are lush and beautiful. One of our favorite places to stay in PS. Highly recommended!
Review 49:Not a big deal but the tv was located sideways to the bed so it was an awkward angle. We didn't watch it much anyway.
Review 50:Started out with a little hiccup with our reservation that was quickly rectified. Couldn't have been happier with accommodations, service, food and ambiance. Will definitely stay there again. Stayed here weekend before Xmas, no crowds. We like the fact that this is a smaller hotel with top notch accomodations.
Review 51:Such a lovely facility! The landscaping and motif is charming. Enjoyed the comfort of our room, cozy bed, great shower and amenities, and nice TV plus wifi is always a plus. Had happy hour snack at the restaurant before dinner (the cheese plate is excellent) on the lovely patio. Highly recommend a spinach and gruyere omelet for breakfast and the BLTA. This time of year we got to enjoy the fireplace- perfect touch. Great location and enjoyed a very romantic and relaxing stay -- we will be back!
Review 52:Can't think of a thing!
Review 53:I loved the atmosphere and the decor, the french doors and a grand bathroom! My favorite was probably the pool area! We were able to lounge around the pool and have a lovely Sunday morning breakfast poolside!
Review 54:I didn't get the room I selected on Bookings.com. The couple who arrived ahead of me did not like their room, and I believe the desk person gave them my room and substituted an oddly configured room. It was okay since, I was travelling solo, but would have been cramped if my boyfriend was travelling with me.
Review 55:The combination pool/restaurant/bar area is ideal. You can go casual and sit at the bar outside or go inside for a more formal dining experience. Bartender was knowledgeable about wines and local establishments and help direct me to a location where I could get an appropriate wedding card and gift.
Review 56:I had planned this trip for a weekend getaway, after a very intense summer. This resort gave me all that I needed. It had a very nice warm salty pool! It was not too crowded or loud. The people there, both staff and visiting were very nice. It felt like I was at my friend's pool party, and everyone there was just hanging out and chillin by the pool, which is open 24 hours a day. It was not a crazy party scene, just nice people enjoying their time. The rooms were very cozy and quiet! The best part is that they are very dog friendly. I got the rest I needed, fun I desired, and peaceful atmosphere to keep me zen!
Review 57:We liked everything at this hotel, except having to leave!
Review 58:Great pool atmosphere, music, services and drinks around the pool. In fact, great food and drinks at the pool restaurant and bar (Purple Palm). Comfortable and quiet room (we were on the second/top level in room 39). Beautifully decorated and very clean. Beautiful grounds too. Everything was prettier than expected and definitely very relaxing. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The service was very good throughout the stay, from check-in to valet. We will definitely stay here again! However, there aren't too many seats at the pool, so if you are going in high season I wonder if you would always get a seat at the pool? (we stayed here in July, which is low season)
Review 59:Restaurant was great for being a hotel restaurant. Had both dinner and breakfast

Review 80:This place is amazing. Way underrated.
Review 81:The ac was poor. The room was poor with scuffed furniture and sheets had holes in them.
Review 82:No complimentary breakfast
Review 83:Location and atmosphere were phenomenal. Pool was great, also.
Review 84:There was a little fly.

Review 91:Pricy
Review 92:Free parking.
Review 93:location, staff, restaurant and pool area.
Review 94:The room is WAY TOO dark! We heard EVERYTHING...and I mean EVERYTHING(!) from the people in the room above us!!

Review 109:very charming and relaxing stay. Nice pool and whirlpool very close to the rooms.
Review 110:Nothing!
Review 111:Good quality, good service, good price!
Review 112:Young couples smoking in the pool and flipping their cigarette ashes in the pool.
Review 113:Staff attention to details
Review 114:Cost of the food is pretty high.
Review 115:The ambience is so beautiful & relaxing. We have been here many times & just love it. Close to restaurants, shopping, etc. Food at the onsite restaurant is wonderful.
Review 116:The bedroom was just adequate, especially after the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey, but ours at least required upgrading and some maintenance. The sink plug failed to pop up, the towel rail fell out of its side supports, and the bathroom was sparsely furnished - limited area to put anything down..
Review 117:The location and privacy of the hotel is excellent, as is the location and food standard of the poolside restaurant, where we enjoyed excellent service at breakfast and dinner. The pool surround loungers we in good condition and comfortable.
Review 118:Really cant think of anything
Review 119:Charming Boutique type hotel. An Oasis in the desert! We particularly liked the rooms situated around the lovely pool and beautiful gardens. We didn't use the restaurant but the bar was lovely. Rooms were spacious and rustic but still luxurious and very comfortable
