Reviews for Americas Best Value Inn- Helen
Review 1:Only two outlets in the room, tv was staticky, tv was old and speakers sounded like they were about to bust, shower curtain never stayed closed, no counter space in the bathroom at all, no closet, there was a band aid on the bathroom door to patch up a hole, and you couldn't tell the difference between the eggs and sausage in their breakfast buffet.
Review 2:Look above
Review 3:When we got there our room wasn't clean so clerk gave us a new room it had wet floor amd tv cord was missing. So the clerk gave us another room and the shower had mold in it the phone cord was pulled out of wall . The desk clerk was not very nice. Needless to say we wont be revisiting your hotel...
Review 4:My husband had to reconnect the TV wires so we could watch TV. He also fixed the toilet so it would flush better. The shower curtain rod was installed wrong and the curtain would not stay open. There was no place to hang towels by the sink and there was no cabinet. There were burn holes in the carpet. The whole impression was that the room was worn out. There wasn't enough room to eat the "Continental" breakfast.
Review 5:We only spent one night there.
Review 6:Went to front desk immediately upon checking the room and told them our smoke alarm was hanging off the wall, tv did not work, light over bathroom sink and table were burned out, cigarette burn hole in the comforter ( non smoking room)and the toilette leaked water when you sat down on it. We made a list for maintenance .The lady, Christian said 3 times a maintenance man would be up when he was done painting. We checked in at 3:35. At 5:15 she said he was gone for the day.The maintenance man came at 10:00 am the next morning. Come to find out he was only contracted to paint rooms. He was not even a maintenance person. Christian flat out told us if we didn't like the room we could leave. At this point there was no availability anywhere for us to go to. I checked everywhere. These things should have been done before the room was rented out. We took the time to make reservations. They should have took the time to make sure the room acceptable to what is advertised. Also the continental breakfast was only for an hour, and not fit for anyone's consumption. No waffles or pastries of any type. I will never stay there again and advise anyone going to Helen to stay anywhere but there. This made our special happy trip into a big disappointment.
Review 7:Location was the only thing good.
Review 8:Noisy as hell !. Nothing works properly in the room. Tv,electricity, light bulbs, bed, it's a nightmare from hell !! .For about 75$ / night, it's probably one of the worstmotel/value in the us.
Review 9:The location is great, straight on main street. But that's it !.Stay away from it !
Review 10:Took 3 rooms to find one for me. The bedding was filthy! I'm so glad I brought my own pillowcases, blankets, and sheets!
Review 11:The only thing I liked was the price and convenient of walking distance to downtown Helen.
Review 12:The room was fairly clean has to kill a roach and a spider in the tub first night there! The bar next door was extremely loud and we could hear it like we were in the bar itself! Definitely can use updating! Probably would not stay again!
Review 13:People were very nice and accommodating!
Review 14:I did not like that I could not take a bath bc the knob was broken.
Review 15:I liked waffle maker and the juice for breakfast. I also enjoyed that the room service always changed the towels and washcloths once a day.
Review 16:Remote control too tv didn't work, hair dryer didn't work, shower curtain didn't fit shower, water went all in floor!
Review 17:Staff was friendly, close too town
Review 18:Room smelled strongly of smoke, stains on the towels. Orange juice was basically yellow water, no coffee with breakfast
Review 19:Great location, can easily walk into the city
Review 20:The bed linens were queen size on a king size bed and would not stay on. They also appeared to be old.
Review 21:The location was good, it was close to all of the Octoberfest activities.
Review 22:The breakfast did not live up to the advertisement. No bread, fruit, just cereal, milk, waffles and pre made roll and sausage. No HBO available, old TV, no fridge, did have roaches though. Only seem to have one desk clerk available, slovenly appearance, although friendly. Will not go back or recommend to anyone. Charges $10 over booking price, with no explanation.
Review 23:The property was on the main street with easy access to everything in the town,
Review 24:Cleanliness, Room was Discusting, For the price that I payed, Hell, should have just stayed @ The dive down the road for $40. Blood on door/Bathroom, Hair in the Bed, Comforter was Discusting , Nasty Smell, Thank God My Son brought his Axe Spray..
Review 25:Nothing
Review 26:I booked a king room on line when we arrived they did not have any king rooms we had to take double room. The room was in bad shape. The carpet outside of the bathroom was soaking wet and smelled. The bathroom wall was in bad shape. The bathroom sink you could not adjust the water temp the water would not drain out of the sink. The lights on the room , the switches would not work half the time. The room above ours when the people walked around the floor creaked and sounded like the roof was going to fall in. I don't know about the rest of the Inn but the room we had was not in very good shape. Our stay was not a very enjoyable one as far as the room.
Review 27:Had to go to the local store and buy cleaning supplies. The room smelled like a wet dog house. Bathroom not fit for a maggot. Beds had to be as old as the town. Springs no matter where I laid. Carpets wet n smelly. Went and bought towels because of the loudness n smellynesss of what they gave me.
Review 28:Location
Review 29:Property is no longer a Days Inn but has changed to America's Best Value. Room was ok but did need some TLC notabally a fist sized hole in the wall by the tub
Review 30:Were close enough to everything in Helen without feeling like we were on top of other people.
Review 31:the tv and the room needed to be updated....and they just had a one cup coffee maker ....not good so my husband went and bought a coffee maker
Review 32:the bed was very comfortable and anything we asked for we got and was very close to town
Review 33:You Get what you pay for. The facility recently changed brands from Days Inn to America's Best Value Inn. The name change made it difficult to find.
Review 34:The manager appeared to be trying very hard to do a good job with limited resources.
Review 35:The smell. I just think its past time for a renovation. Our room was nonsmoking so it wasn't the old smoke smell. It just smelled old and run down.
Review 36:The staff was very friendly. The location was great.
Review 37:The room was in very poor shape. The bathroom did not have a counter. There was just a sink. There was only one dim light in the bathroom, nomirror lights. The plumbing was crossed over (hot on right and cold onleft). The shower curtain rod was about to fall off. I was verydisappointed.
Review 38:The name of the hotel had changed, so we kept thinking that we werelost. I have an elderly mother who uses a walker or wheelchair, theyhave no elevator. When I got out of my car I was disappointed at how theoutside looked and even more disappointed when I went inside. I told theperson at the desk that I was not sure that my mother could make thestairs and that I would be back. I sent my husband back in and they hadalready cancelled my reservation and we had to drive to the next town toget a room.
Review 39:The town it's in
Review 40:The building is run down, the floor of our room was not vacuumed from the guest before. There was random hair in the shower when we arrived. The TV is fuzzy like it is on a antenna from the 80's. The pillows had stains. There were black foot prints on the wall. We stayed two nights and had to go to the front desk and ask for towels. The room telephone didn't work.
Review 41:The locations was pretty close to the tubing companies. Most of the power outlets and 75% of the lights worked.
Review 42:The floors were disgusting. I have a young child who is crawling. I put him down on the floor of the room to play, ten minutes later his hands and legs were black from the dirt in the carpet. Absolutely disgusting!
Review 43:Good location.
Review 44:Old, run down, stains on walls and ceilings, anti-scald shower didn't work, no cable TV, musty smelling. Drove around the town twice trying to find hotel because the name had changed over a month ago, but booking.com didn't update their records.
Review 45:The smell and it could have been a little cleaner. I recommend bringing some fabreeze!
Review 46:You get what you pay for. It wasn't as bad as the reviews made it seem. Very much worth what you will pay for it. The bed was comfy, the location was great. The room was normal.
Review 47:By the looks of the rooms online they were nice and we got there and it wasnt worth the money the pool was so nasty the air didnt work never again will i stay
Review 48:They changed the name ,but still had the days Inn sun logo on door paper work .no one call ed or contacted me .only wish I had known it was not a days Inn .
Review 49:Room wasn't clean had problems with tv place wasn't clean at all and the name of the hotel had changed from Day Inn to America value Inn
Review 50:Location was good
Review 51:I thought it wss a Days inn, but that was not the case. The room was over due for a refurbishment, the bed covers and blankets had not been washed, the carpet smelled bad and the main door did not seal completly which allowed for small insects in the room.
Review 52:The cost of the room was really cheap, the location was conveniently located close to town, breakfast was free and the staff was friendly.
Review 53:Telephone kept ringing off and on all night. Spoke with clerk and was told to take it off the hook.
Review 54:Friendly helpful staff. Clean room. Close to downtown Helen
Review 55:We had bugs, mold, and dirt. The room looked and felt dirty. We were fighting flies, gnats, and creepy crawly bugs the whole time we were there. I wasted one of our towels smushing bugs and swatting at gnats. We were afraid to sleep in the bed or use the shower. By far the nastiest hotel I've ever stayed at. The walls were dirty, the carpet is gross, and the sheets were stained.
Review 56:The location was great.
Review 57:Old and dirty. It seemed like something out of a movie. Creepy guy atthe front desk had food down his shirt. Wallpaper is peeling off thewalls in "reception" area. There were penmarks/scuffs/dents all over the bathroom walls and itsmelled....just old! If you can find a room for $20-$30 more a nightnext door (which comes with breakfast)...TAKE It!
Review 58:It was next door to the host hotel of an event we were attending...sovery convenient for our purpose...also seemed convenient to thetown...easy walking distance.
Review 59:Walls are thin. Could hear neighbors TV all night and kids running up and down the walk outside. Beds are small.
Review 60:Location was great. Close enough to walk around Helen. Room was clean. Pool needs some minor repairs but the kids still loved it. Price was decent for where it was. It felt safe.
Review 61:The room was filthy. There were chips crumbled inside the dresser drawer along with the extra blankets that were not folded and crammed into the drawer. The room had a terrible musty smell. The walls were dirty and hair was all over the bed linen. Breakfast...there was none.
Review 62:This time when I checked in the young lady that helped me was not friendly at all. There were some shirts for sale behind her that I asked about but she acted as if I was bothering her to see what the front and backed looked like. The machine to print receipt did not work either at the time which she could not help that happen.
Review 63:I always stay and like the patio rooms on the floor better, particularly room number 123 & 124. I always try to get this room but this time I did not but I still got a patio room about five doors down, which was fine but I had asked specifically for one of those rooms. You can walk right out your door and watch the tubers ride by which to me is a spectator sport. There are tables to place your items on. You can leave the door open and listen to the water run down the short waterfall that always have tubers screaming. The bed's and the rooms are always clean and comfortable. There is a stove for cooking but we always walk to the Troll Tavern or Paul's for dinner. WE WILL BE BACK!
Review 64:The first room stunk, carpet was wet. leak in wall. Pool closed all week. Other hotel, Jameson was back up pool. Property very run down. Staff was great.
Review 65:The staff was very nice and tried there best to see we were as comfortable as could be with what they had. 5 Star staff.
Review 66:We had to change rooms three different times. Drawers were broken, ac didnt work, fridge didnt work, pool was closed. Contacted Days Inn to make a complaint and was told it was no longer a licensed property.
Review 67:Toilet roll rack was falling off the wall, writing written on the sink counter top, slight smell to the room, worse part of the room, "Nats", if we were in the room, had to always be swatting them away. DO NOT STAY HERE!
Review 68:Other in a fair price, nothing about this room was nice!
Review 69:there was roaches infested all in our room all over our food
Review 70:me and my husband decided to to get away for a quick mini vacation for one night we checked in with booking.com which was great and very affordable went to the Days Inn checked in and left our belongings and food in the hotel room the refrigerator did not work so we had to fill the sink up with ice to keep our drinks cold along with some of our food we proceeded to go into town to buy a couple more items we would be Needing for our dinner. only to come back and our whole dinner was infested with German cockroaches at that point we decided to check out and ask for money back they would not give us our money back
Review 71:There was not enough parking, the room was dirty and old. Check in was at 3:00 but our room didn't get cleaned until after 4.
Review 72:There was nothing good about this place
Review 73:The front desk clerk was on the phone through half of our check in, then he got off to tell us how miserable he was. The room smelled musty, like hit you in the face musty! We actually drove around trying to find somewhere else to stay but there was no vacancy because the Shriners were in town. The hotel was so loud and people were partying. We called the front desk to see if they could help, which they didn't. Do not stay here.
Review 74:The room should have been cleaner. Surfaces were clean and bed was clean, but the carpet was filthy. The soles of my feet were black after walking around a few minutes barefooted. Lampshades had holes in them and dust thick on the shade. The front window has not been washed in a long time.
Review 75:The desk clerk seemed to be the one doing everything, but he is great. Good personality and he immediately corrected any problems.
Review 76:The shower curtain had a chunk of feces on it! The property smelled of rotten milk. The pool was nasty. Standing water everywhere smelling moldy.
Review 77:Location.
Review 78:Busted water pipe in first room. Pip must have been in wall or floor.Soaked carpet in back half of room.. Moved to second room. Stopped upsink and facet moved all around, sprayed everywhere when turned on andnone of the sinks has stoppers. On a plus. The maintenance man is doingbest he can. One guy trying his best to keep up with an old build thatneeds lots of work.
Review 79:Room not very clean. Carpets sticky. We were locked out of our room twice in 2 days. Left for 1 hour and could not get back into room. Remote on tv didn't work. Booked a non smoking room but got a smoking room anyway. Clothes smelled when we returned home. Vending machines did not work. Overall we loved the town of Helen but will not stay at days inn again. We had a group of 8 rooms. Everyone had some sort of problem. Desk clerk was not helpful at all.
Review 80:Room was dirty and lacked maintenance. TV did not work properly. Front Desk only made excuses for the situation and made me feel as if they wanted to argue. I did not receive an apology or any indication that they we sorry. We will never stay at this hotel in the future nor will other members of our group.
Review 81:Nothing!
Review 82:The room and bathroom were not clean. The room was not cleaned once during our 3-day stay. The hotel pool was full of scum and algae. The staff were indifferent to rude.
Review 83:The floor was sticky. There was a dirty towel left in the bathroom. The shower did not work properly. The entire building looked filthy.Since Days Inn is a national chain I expected it to at least be clean. The price was way too expensive for this hotel. Will never stay at this hotel ever again!!
Review 84:Noisy, you can hear neighbors upstairs and through bathroom walls, furnitute needs updates specially the tv, needs microwave, needs regular fridge, not a beverage fridge, some towels smelled musty.
Review 85:Free breakfast, free wifi, good cutomer service. Good location. Parking is convenient. Had good amount of space, a lot of lamps.
Review 86:Sink in room was full of what looked like coffee grounds and was slow to drain. Cost should have been less as it was not peak season nor centrally located.
Review 87:Receptionist was friendly and informative.
Review 88:pool was being demolished and that wasn't told to us when we booked the room or when we checked in, I had booked a non smoking room, I got to the room and even though it said non smoking on the outside the room had a smoke smell and an ashtray. We changed rooms which smelled better. My daughters bed had bodily fluids on the sheets which needed to be changed. Bathrooms were not fully stocked with supplies. The continental breakfast was put away before 9:30 instead of the posted time of 10am which was annoying.
Review 89:Staff was very nice
Review 90:Room was clean(ish). They only had a smoking room left it did smell but not as badly as we were afraid. There was hair abs yuckyness in the tub drain but everything else appeared clean.
Review 91:Super helpful staff.
Review 92:The staff that checked us in did not key our room card's right so we had to keep going back to the office to get them redone for our room.
Review 93:We could walk to attractions.
Review 94:We wer both unhappy with the bed and linnen. The sheets had to be no more than 250 thread count and were very rough. The bed was also not comfortable. The bathroom was in need of an upgrade. It wasn't in the best condition. The front door was also a little shakey, it felt like it was about to fall ot of the frame.
Review 95:There was only one lady on staff the whole 48 hours that we were there. (Or at least that we saw). She was very rude and kinda scary. When I asked for a later check out time she refused and said they would throw us out if not ready. The towels were very scratchy and didn't even have a microwave in the room.
Review 96:The tv worked well along with the hotel being so close to town. The hotel itself wasn't as bad as the staff.
Review 97:The toilets look dirty (rust) there wasn't enough shampoo and soap for more than 1 person. The cable was not clear.
Review 98:The bed and pillow was comfy.. Good location walking distance to everything.
Review 99:Everything. The room was smoking when I asked for non smoking. The woman at the front desk was EXTREMLY rude every way possible. The room had mold and mildew in the bathroom and shower...etc. Avoid at ALL costs.
Review 100:Not One thing.
Review 101:Check in... okay but one person checking in several at a time. check out ... unfriendly. I asked about the coffee and she seemed irritated and came out to check it in bare feet with unkempt appearance. I think she had been over worked... Need more staff at this location.
Review 102:The bed was comfortable, nice pillows.
Review 103:The room had a "fridge" that had been servi-bar. Too small and rack limited it's use. TV was from the 1990's, 19 inch and HD reduced it to much smaller. Like most cheap hotels it had nylon-like bed cover. I think the manager on-site does the best she can, but appears the owner doesn't give her necessary resources. Not very accommodating (extra pillows and late checkout both denied).
Review 104:Location was good.
Review 105:The hotel could use some TLC. New fixtures, lampshades, better mattresses, etc. But, the manager was great to work with and for a value hotel it was pretty good.
Review 106:We loved the quaint little town. The New Year's Eve celebration at the Fest Halle was lots of fun. We plan to visit again!
Review 107:I realize the pool is closed for the season but you really need to put forth the effort to fix it.
Review 108:Cara, very nice but has way to many duties. Cmon owner, hire some help!
Review 109:The staff was very courteous. The location was great. We were in walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. For the price we paid, the motel and amenities were good. The continental breakfast was great. I had read a lot of the reviews and was a little skeptical, but the reviews were not fitting to what we experienced!
Review 110:The motel, not hotel was not updated and the rooms are hosed down withsome fragrance that made both my son and I both very sick. The controlson the heat/ac unit just spun so we had no reliable thermostat andwhen the unit came on, it sounded like a jet engine. The pool hadconstruction materials thrown in it and was a swamp. This truly was ahotel hell experience.
Review 111:I definately like the price and was expecting something horrible but the bed was comfy and there was a fridge. very comfortable. walking distance to surrounding businesses! We had a great stay.
Review 112:-Huge gap at the top of the door; you could hear everyone, and they could hear you. -No towels in the room; shower was STILL DIRTY from the previous customers! Hair and soap scum everywhere. I do have pictures. -Bugs on the counters near the "free continental breakfast". Yes, I do have pics of that, too. They will be posted on any and all review sites. -Room said non-smoking but smelled like cat pee and cigarette smoke!
Review 113:The location is the ONLY thing going for this place!
Review 114:The word "new" on the booking.com listing should say "new listing". I foolishly thought this was a new motel, so was shocked when we arrived! The worst part was the bathroom which had mold on the caulking and a sagging shower curtain rod that would not hold the curtain in place...water was everywhere. The towels were BAD, and believe it or not, I am not a picky person.
Review 115:The location was good and I actually slept well, which is unusual.
Review 116:No Heat in room on a cold night and didn't offer a resolution to this issue. Tub\shower not clean, They give me a Smoking room, with a King BedRoom, but I reserved A Double Non-Smoking. The room should have been" Free of charge" at this point!
Review 117:Just location and Staff Kara was polite, but didn't offer any solutions to the issues. We needed immediate resolutions to these issues.
Review 118:The hotel did not have my reservation! Without my printed confirmation, I would have nat gotten a room. Plus the room I got was the last available.
Review 119:Thankful they honored my printed confirmation.
Review 120:The bathtub drain could not keep up with the water flow. The towels were old and very small. The carpet was old and the mattresses were old and a bit wore out.
Review 121:We liked the staff, and location.
Review 122:Kara the front desk clerk was excellent, very kind ,on top of things !!! went out her way to help us with Everything she possibility could to make our stay the BEST stay ever in any hotel I ever stayed at in Helen Georgia. would definitely would recommend days inn helen georgia to EVERYONE. THE OWNERS AS WELL WHERE A GREAT HELP TO.
Review 123:Room and building was very worn, bed was worn out didn't sleep well at all.
Review 124:The woman at the front desk was great very helpful but given the option would stay somewhere else.
Review 125:Rooms were very dirty, staff was unfriendly, did not get our orginal rooms we booked and had to argue to get the price listed on booking.com not worth the hassle
Review 126:We were assigned to a substandard room. Normal rates at that time of year was $150 - $200. Hotel was loosing money on room at $69 rate given by booking.com and we were told they could not give us their best room for lower rate.
Review 127:Staff did a good job of accommodating and confirming reservation that had not been sent by booking.com. Staff was very polite.
Review 128:Rooms could have been cleaner
Review 129:The man that ran the hotel, was really nice and helpful
Review 130:The heater would not turn off no matter how low we set the thermostat so it was hot in the room no in between. Also the bed was not very comfortable
