Reviews for Hopkins Park Bed and Breakfast

Review 1:Beautiful home, awesome host. The bed was like climbing into a cloud and the towels, breakfast etc were also top class. We arrived at 2am and it was no problem at all. Very very very glad I picked this place. Will go back if I am ever in town again.

Review 2:Parallel parking=adequate but hills.

Review 3:Our host was VERY accommodating to our tiny dog who likes to bark. Coffee = superb! Breakfast = delicious Memory foam mattress = deep sleep Accommodations = clean

Review 4:The outside and neighborhood can be uncomfortable at first but service and comfort make up for it.

Review 5:Although the outside is off-putting at first, the inside is oddly charming. Very clean and felt safe. The bed was so comfy and the sheets were amazing. The breakfast in the morning was way more than we expected! Fancy egg dish and french press coffee. Barry and ethel were delightful hosts. Perfect place for young couple traveling on a budget :)

Review 6:Sharing a bathroom is not ideal. The house is older and needs some tlc.The floors were quite uneven, to the point that doors were off kilterand difficult to close and lock. There was no way to lock and secure mybedroom, so when I was not there, anyone could walk into my room andhave access to my belongings. Considering the cost differential ofstaying at an expensive motel, I was satisfied with my stay.

Review 7:The owners of this B&B were very friendly and helpful. I like tocook and I was allowed access to their kitchen and given my own shelf inthe fridge. This accommodation allowed me to prepare my evening meal soI did not have to go out. This was much appreciated.

Review 8:There is nothing to complain about. I'm quite sad I only stayed for one night tbh.

Review 9:The owners were lovely and made every effort to make me feel welcome.

Review 10:AC unit isn't terribly effective in the large room, which is a consideration if you need to keep 4 people cool. Bathroom window doesn't open, which can pose...issues.

Review 11:Barry was an excellent host! My friends and I booked the smaller room, but they (and the guest) offered to let us take the larger room to accommodate our group, which was totally unexpected! And Luna the dog is a total sweetheart.

Review 12:Fixer-upper house has apparently come a long way but still has a way to go.

Review 13:Nice hosts. Great breakfasts. Convenient inner-city location. No pretensions. Fantastic low price.

Review 14:Liked everything, it was like visiting old friends (who also have the friendliest dog!) Great strong coffee in the morning, nice chat with the owners. A quiet area in just few minutes to downtown.

Review 15:The bed was so comfortable, I actually fell asleep very early and did not wake up until morning! It was a great experience. My first time at a B&B.

Review 16:There is no lock on the bedroom door but the owners are usually there and the front door has a code. I felt safe. Do not attempt to walk to it with luggage...its uphill!!! Not the cleanest place I've stayed in but I would definitely stay again..thanks so much :D

Review 17:This was my first b and b experience in the us after doing a lot of hotels, motels, and hostels. I had a really nice time. The owners are a lovely older couple with a cute dog called Luna. The room is a good size with a TV and a good price. You get a freshly made different breakfast everyday and the shower is hot. Public transport connects you to all places and you can walk some places too.

Review 18:Barry and Ethel are an extremely lovely couple who provide a perfect service at the b&b. The room was comfortable and spacious, the bathroom clean, and the homemade breakfast each morning was delicious! Everything you need for a great stay. I very much enjoyed my stay and was sad to leav Barry, Ethel and Luna their beautiful friendly dog! Hopefully will return one day!!

Review 19:The house reminded me of staying at my grandmothers house which was always a treat for me! It was not an over the top showy house which made it more comfortable, plus having a sweet pet like Luna around made it all the more feel like home!

Review 20:-Door locks were sort of tricky -Wifi was a tidtad bit slow but nothing that made me want to pull my hair out

Review 21:-Very friendly hosts -Nice breakfasts -Comfy rooms -Great location: Lots of bus stops, pretty neighborhood, you can walk to downtown. -Dog!!! -Accommodating to your needs -Would stay again (planning on it) -Reasonable pay

Review 22:Breakfast is late (930) Bathroom is clean but tub has a deteriorated finish. Although it doesn't bother me, the house is in the process of renovation

Review 23:The bed was very comfortable, one of the nicest I've had. Price was great. WiFi was fast & perfect for my needs. Hosts were friendly and fun to visit with and eager to provide for my needs. Locks ARE on doors (earlier reviews had said there weren't any) This is not B&B like you see in the movies,is more like staying with distant relatives. I was their only guest that night. I will return.

Review 24:House was being renovated, floors really crooked and sloped, shared bathroom, didn't feel like a private B&B, felt more like living in someone's house. Not cute or charming in any way, budget hostel.

Review 25:Location reasonable, felt safe, close to downtown.

Review 26:Breakfast at 9:00 am--to late. The house badly need repair. No locks on the doors. Parking is on the street. Not able to cancel. Location bad. T V only local stations only. Bathroom needs updating tub/shower.

Review 27:Staff was nice

Review 28:The house is still a work in progress. It's a B&B, not a hotel - which was fine for us. The bedroom could've used a dresser or armoire to hold clothes. The shower was a tad squeaky, but clean and with hot water.

Review 29:We stayed for three nights at Hopkins and really enjoyed the time there. The couple running it are very friendly and sweet. They have an adorable pup named Luna! The queen room suite had an adjoining dayroom which was nice to keep our stuff. The location is perfect - we spent most of our time in OTR and it's an easy walk down the hill (and cheap cab ride back up!). Breakfast was delicious, the bed was comfy, the decor modern.

Review 30:The bathroom is shared and could have been cleaner/decorated a little nicer

Review 31:This be is closer to a hostel than a bb. If you are young and have stayed in nice hostels before then this bb is good. The couple that owns are really friendly. The bedroom is great and is super comfortable.

Review 32:Felt like there was a lack of privacy No lock on the door Breakfast portions limited Air conditioning was weak Neighborhood verged on being unsafe Lack of private restroom

Review 33:Conveniently located near downtown Kind hosts Ability to bring dog

Review 34:Everything was terrible.... the location, the mildew in the bathroom and the kitchen, there's no lock on the bedroom, and we couldn't sleep at all.

Review 35:Saw an ant on my bed, windows were not fully shut, could hear some nice from outside the house

Review 36:Very nice host, close to downtown and medical center, free breakfast, space to park the car, free toiletries

Review 37:Super dirty rooms and whole house. Fir balls would follow you around. No space to put anything away in the room. Had one dresser but was filled so was pointless. Super hot in the whole house only ac in the room. Only one bathroom which was super old, very disgusting plus super hot and could not open the window. They never cleaned the bathroom only once and it was half ass.

Review 38:The price was the only good thing. I guess you pay for what you get.

Review 39:Not quite the wherewithal to achieve the vision-- yet-- and one must be prepared to be in a "work in progress." This was just fine for us. Other travelers might find this off-putting.

Review 40:Great personable couple with good vision for what they want to achieve with this place, and the skills to do it. Peaceful room with quiet uncluttered lines, just the thing for frenetic crazy concert night. Great fresh breakfast. Peaceful gem in a mixed and hoepfully upcoming neighborhood.

Review 41:Well I loved the fact the owners were very welcoming and such a pleasure to talk to. The room was very comfortable and relaxing with its own private seating area.

Review 42:Be aware this is an older house being renovated. We were fine with that, but if you want hotel sparkle you may not prefer this site.

Review 43:The hosts were friendly and helpful. There is a table for games (important to us), and breakfast was very good. Nice location. We enjoyed our night here.

Review 44:This did not apply to me, but I can see where some folks might be put off by the unfinished look of the common rooms and the slightly downscale / transitioning neighborhood. If you are looking for gentrified elegance, you should probably look to stay elsewhere.

Review 45:Fantastic hosts - comfortable room, perfect for a single traveler - home cooked breakfast and great conversation. Quietest little dog I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Very convenient to public transit. Excellent value for the money!

Review 46:I didn't like sharing a bathroom. There may be some who wouldn't like the remodeling in process, but that didn't bother me.

Review 47:The hosts were gracious, interesting and helpful. We enjoyed good restaurants at their recommendations. They accommodated our unique schedule.

Review 48:The room we stayed in didn't have any space to put clothes in. There were a closet and a drawer chest but both of them were unusable. It was OK for one night but if a guest needs to stay longer, they should provide something. Also, it would be better if they provide a desk in the room, too.

Review 49:We liked the location. Quite close to the city center. The inn owners were very helpful and nice.

Review 50:I would have liked mor information about the neighbourhood. I felt it wasn't entirely safe to walk thru it.

Review 51:Pretty basic, very light breakfast

Review 52:Host/hostess nice, sufficient lodging, clean and large enough.

Review 53:Shower needs improvement

Review 54:Helping with arrangements and info

Review 55:Bathroom should truly not be even used until Major work done.

Review 56:Quiet and Quaint and The Owners!

Review 57:Location: walked to downtown. Bed: most comfortable I slept in Breakfast: best of my 23 day trip

Review 58:T.V. reception bad.

Review 59:Building. (or) house has potential.

Review 60:- breakfast was very simple

Review 61:- very Kind People - big room

Review 62:No separate outside door Shared bathroom Exposed beams and insulation in bathroom

Review 63:Friendly staff Good price

Review 64:Host is very nice, has architecture degree the same as me. Good breakfast and good conversation! Will come again.

Review 65:very nice family including the dog, very clean, good and kind people, I recommend for others

Review 66:The immediate neighborhood was sketchy, but it was convenient drive to the art museum and park which was perfect for me.

Review 67:Simple clean rooms at great prices

Review 68:Barry and Ethel are very friendly owers, they are very nice. I stayed 2 nights and had a good time. The breakfast is very good too, I am sure I will stay there next time.

Review 69:We have a big vehicle so parking was a little bit of an issue. Theyprovide plenty but people aren't always courteous on street parking.

Review 70:Luna the Dog, of course. Hosts were full of great information aboutrestaurants and sites! Mix of modern and classic with the architectureExcited to see the final product!!!

Review 71:The owners were very friendly and informative. I enjoyed talking with them. Their location was perfect for the purpose of my visit. I will stay there again.

Review 72:I was travelling with a friend to visit Cincinnati. The couple was extremely nice and kind to us. You won't have any regret if you choose this BnB. They know their job for sure!

Review 73:The B&B is under constant renovation. Bedroom door did not lock. Window kept shut using nails. It is not located in a very desirable neighborhood. The satellite TV reception was poor. Community bathroom was outdated and in need of a little TLC.

Review 74:The host was very nice and personable. It was conveniently located close to GABP. Pet friendly lodging. The price was very good. The bedroom and sitting room was clean with modern décor. Breakfast was good. French coffee press!

Review 75:A good value. Pleasant place, pleasant hosts. Very practical with more style than a hotel. Bus stop outside the door saved me from downtown parking. Also a nice tree lined walk downtown during the day.

Review 76:Loved the atmosphere. The neighborhood was very hilly, but I enjoyed the nature walks and parks around. I'll miss the people I roomed with and hope to see them again. A PLUS all around

Review 77:Private bathrooms would have been ideal but the shared bathroom experience was fine.

Review 78:We loved the character of the old house and our hosts, Barry, Ethel and their dog Luna. The neighborhood is dog friendly and the breakfast coffee is excellent.

Review 79:Here's the thing. Nothing against Hopkins' itself, but something I feel obligated to let anyone who has never been to Cincinnati know--this city is not really accessible by any transport other than a car that you own/rent. The public transportation infrastructure is pretty nonexistent, which is a shame, because the city is incredibly charming and walkable. Cabs are bafflingly difficult to hire, and barely anyone walks, perhaps because of the large amount of homeless (seriously, who is the mayor?! get these people some shelter!). Because of this, it's difficult to get to and from Hopkins park late night/early morning. Unless you’ve got wheels, stay downtown, especially if you're there for a specific event like I was. It's impersonal, but more convenient and offers you more peace of mind.

Review 80:Barry and Ethel are an extremely nice couple with a very sweet dog. They're doing a great job of renovating a quaint, old house. I definitely prefer the B&B atmosphere when I'm traveling solo, and they were really great at providing that.

Review 81:The couple was amazingly friendly. They made sure we were all set and made an amazing breakfast for us in the morning. We were traveling with a small dog and they dogsat for us while we were exploring. Great location - close to downtown but quiet neighborhood. It's definitely a great price value.

Review 82:Shared bathroom with owners, bedroom door doesn't close properly, house was cold, TV wasn't plugged in.

Review 83:Nice big space, near downtown, downtown bus stops right in front. Lots of free street parking. Safe neighbourhood. Great price includes full breakfast. Owners very nice.

Review 84:Coffee WAY too strong :-(. No lock on my bedroom door, no mirror or in my room (shared bath had the only mirror). No TV in my room. Bathtub was very old and had markings that were difficult to tell whether they were worn by age or unclean. I assumed worn. This is not your typical upscale B&B. Be ready for great hospitality and clean bed to sleep in. No luxuries here. Men traveling alone and looking for economy or perhaps college age young adults who aren't looking for style might be fine here.

Review 85:The proprietors were very hospitable and friendly. Breakfast was great. Luna the dog was a wonderful treat. Location was convenient but looked a bit unsafe for a woman traveling alone.

Review 86:They're constantly renovating so if you don't like a little paint or a completely finished house, this is not the place for you.

Review 87:Barry and Ethel, the owners, made us feel very comfortable and at home. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and their breakfast was delicious. We were able to access the highway easily and the bed was super comfortable!

Review 88:None

Review 89:The hosts couldn't have been better hosts, they were friendly and very welcoming and informative, the room was clean and comfortable and the house was very homely. Breakfast was excellent and it was the best coffee i have had all trip. We will definitely be staying again.

Review 90:although the bedrooms for the guests are furnished, the owners are still painting the family room. This makes the place a little mess.

Review 91:great for the money

Review 92:The "bed and breakfast" is really an abandoned house in the process (and I emphasize IN THE PROCESS) of being renovated. Huge bugs greeted us on the way up to the porch. The windows are very old and there are no storm windows. There is one bathroom for all (the owners included) to share. There was no waste basket in our room or the bathroom, which was not very clean. There was a stain on our sheets. Breakfast was very meager and late, I thought. (9:15) The owners were very nice people and seemed oblivious to the fact that the house was in no shape to be called a bed and breakfast. I wouldn't have even wanted to have company for dinner, let alone charge people to stay overnight. If we hadn't been so tired and hadn't already given our credit card info, we wouldn't have stayed. Travelers included my son and I.

Review 93:The owners were kind people. The location was good.

Review 94:common areas were messy and unfinished with tools, ladders, etc., and too warm. outside had debris and waste from rennovation (slabs of broken concrete, tree limbs) questionable, busy neighborhood

Review 95:hosts were kind and helpful. the bedroom was comfortable location was close to the great American ball park decorated with nice art

Review 96:the proprieters were ver friendly and helpfull, and are in the process of renovatting the entire BandB. They catered for my pre 6am departure, and couldn't have been more helpfull. Luna (the dog). The Eden park, is less then 10 mins walk, and its less then 20 mins to downtown. The Megabus and greyhound stops are both about 30 min walk

Review 97:Good location, close to the center Nice large bed Very goodbreakfasts (amazing pancakes with raspberries!) Feels like visitingyour aunt and uncle :)

Review 98:The owners were very welcoming and friendly (and so was their dog). The location is very convenient to downtown and has plenty of parking (on the road). Overall, a very nice place for a nice price.

Review 99:Everything! The bed was really comfortable and the owners were lovely!

Review 100:Danger: this is NOT a real business

Review 101:Nothing

Review 102:Friendly people. Good hospitality. Comfortable sleeping.

Review 103:Staff was very accomodating time/ need-wise, and welcoming/friendly.

Review 104:Easy to get to location, near the interstate. The room was big and clean

Review 105:Friendly hosts, comfortable bed, nice shower.

Review 106:Lokation could be abit better

Review 107:Housekeepers are extra friendly and hospitable

Review 108:Very helpful and personable hosts. LOVED the bed! Very comfy

Review 109:I liked EVERYTHING about this place! It was cheap, close to downtown and the family were super nice and friendly!

Review 110:The couple who own the house are great! The location was only 3 miles from downtown Cincinnati and less than 20 minutes from the airport.

Review 111:the breakfast time started from 9:00 clock in the morning which is too late, as it is run by an old couple one cannot question them out of courtsey.

Review 112:the dog

Review 113:not easy to find the exact location.

Review 114:the park and nice design of houses.
