Reviews for AMCO Hotel and Suites Austin

Review 1:The elevator was broke. I have congestive heart failure. They said they had nothing downstairs, so I couldn't stay there. They said they would refund my money now they won't. They are crooks

Review 2:The Elevator was broke. I have heart failure and couldn't stay there. They told me they would refund my money and now they say they won't. They are crooks

Review 3:The elevator is not working and the manager and receptionist is same guy and his behavior was very rude . When i asked him how long doese it take to fx elevator he told me in a bad way you need to workout as you are overweight .in general the Hotel was disappointing. I never suggest it to nobody. The only good thing was location.

Review 4:The atmosphere was sketchy.

Review 5:The staff were wonderful and helpful. The facilities from the outside looked interesting, but the rooms were nice. The atmosphere of the area in which the hotel was located was pretty sketchy and when we came back from dinner there we three cops there arresting someone. Also during the early morning someone came to buy what I assume was drugs. We hurried and left.

Review 6:I didn't like the staff, there was this hindu guy and a black girl at the front desk, which not even a smile went out of them,(they need to be more frienly) also I paid cash and the guy stole some of my change, he didnt give me my full change babk, so be careful if you are paying cash.

Review 7:location is very convenient

Review 8:Hotel is in decrepit condition. Switch to elevator is missing the button, so you can slide your finger right into electric wires. Hotel is very malodorous. Windows do not open up, so air is stale and stinks up your clothes. I had to wash even the clothes I had not worn when I returned home, just to get rid of the smell. Light bulbs were missing from the light fixtures. The curtains could not be slid on their tracks. View was of a highway and a small mall with a gym as its anchor store. There was no maid service and room was not cleaned, beds not made, bathroom / toilet not cleaned, soap / shampoo not changed and towels not replaced during my three night(mare) stay. Soap bar provided was a flimsy bar, manufactured in India, that did not smell good, felt oily and crumbled into pea - size pieces as soon as the packet was opened. "Free Breakfast" promised was going to be Pop Tarts & coffee only, according to the registration clerk, so I decided to skip it. No smoking is allowed in hotel or within 25 feet of the property, but the reception clerk and other people stand by the door and smoke all the time. Definitely a poor excuse for a hotel. Best advice- Stay Away.

Review 9:NOTHING

Review 10:In a bad area of town.Walls are very thin...I could practicely hear the next rooms entire conversation all night. Decor was somewhat dated but ok! Staff was cordial however, I just did not feel safe as a woman traveling alone! I would not recommend!!

Review 11:We were 3 people and they only gave us 2 pillows and towels. When we asked for more they only gave us 2 more of each. Nobody made the beds and the room smelled wierd.

Review 12:The worker at the desk lied and told me my booking for my room was cancelled and he could place me in a king suit for $100. Which I already had the king suit booked but when I looked online under booking I still was booked for my room. Bad business

Review 13:Upon arriving there were a couple people hanging around the entrance who were obviously dealing some kind of drugs. When getting to the counter to check in, I was told that the price from booking.com was wrong and was then charged almost double. The room was open when we got to it the pillows and such were in the hall. We were told house keeping was wrapping up at about 10pm. When talking to the desk staff in the orning they were very rude, they didnt want to do anything to fix the mistake. I would skip this property when looking for a place to stay.

Review 14:The bed was comfortable. The room was spacious.

Review 15:Even though it was non smoking, our room smelled of cigarette smoke. And the curtains needed to be replaced due to small holes in them.

Review 16:Bob was fantastic! He made sure we had everything we needed. He was always checking on us. The shower was great and the ac was cold.

Review 17:Pretty much everything else. Lobby old and dated. Shares with an insurance company. Room had an odd smell. Bathroom was different color. Many chips in drywall. Open exposed wires in ceiling. Bedroom had Paint roller marks on ceiling where they hit it when painting walls. TV remote only changed channels. Ice bucket still had water in it.

Review 18:Bed was soft

Review 19:stuck in elevator, breakfast was terrible the 1st day oat meal ,pop tarrts and cerial, and NO milk, only coffee 2nd day no pop tarts . They took the dirty towels out of the room and didn't replace them no chair in room . The worst place I stayed in in a decade. Charged 66/nite days Inn was only 44 for more and better quaility

Review 20:Non-existent breakfast. Pop Tarts, Cereal, and juice boxes. Yep that's it. Sign on elevator said "Use at your own risk" Stains on sheets had to insist that they be changed.

Review 21:Location was excellent and for the most part the room and facilities were clean.

Review 22:We booked the room for 4 nights via your agency, but finding it too far from our destination, I found another hotel. I told the desk we were leaving the next day. When our bill was given to us the next day I was charged for 4 nights, even though I was told the night before we would only be charged for one. That morning I was told we would be refunded the rest. I contacted the hotel twice more over the next two weeks, emailed the owner, who never responded. I called again and the manager hung up on me. I am hoping my credit card company stands with me and insists they refund the other 3 nights since I was told by 3 people they would. If I lived closer I would take them to small claims court for this illegal billing. The worst service I ever received anywhere in the world. The elevator had an out of order sign on it, but we were told to use it anyway, which we did not. The free breakfast consisted of a few boxes of children's cereal and bad coffee

Review 23:The room was adequate, the bed was fine

Review 24:There is not a fuctional elevator. Sign on the elevator that say take stairs or use the elevator at your own risk. No one to help with your bags up and down stairs.

Review 25:The hotel is located well for business at Edwards university

Review 26:We paid 82 dollars and our remote for the TV didn't work and our "free" WIFI also did not work. The breakfast selection was less than mediocre. Definitely not worth 82 dollars.

Review 27:The TV-I couldn't get but one channel. Breakfast was oatmeal-only choice. No milk, juice, toast and anything else. Also, the all night muffler shop next door was not good.

Review 28:The bed

Review 29:The lack of clarity. Pictures on the internet seems deceiving compared to the actually being present inside the room. The description of the "free breakfast" was not clear. Promotion should clarify "free cold breakfast."

Review 30:The staff were polite.

Review 31:Very clean and pleasant room. The wifi wasn't as strong as I would have liked but it still worked fine. Staff were nice and friendly. Free breakfast ends at 9 and didn't get a chance to try it. Maybe next time. Nice location you won't be disappointed. Book it NOW, trust me.

Review 32:Had bad experience. When you walk in building two statues of backed women. Elevator was broke had to use dirty stairway. Pay more money and stay at a nice place.

Review 33:Nothing

Review 34:no breakfast as promised, no cups for coffee, no coffee, the room SMELLED like cigarette smoke and air freshener. when I had dinner with my son, he said, mom, you smell like a persian rug shop. also, I like to be able to open a window, if I could have, the problem would have been solved, but I was not able to.

Review 35:We had made reservations for two nights as we were attending a graduation. On our first night we were awaken from some heavy pounding on a door next door / the front desk was alerted and nothing was done I had to ask them to stop which in turn they stayed pounding on the wall and threatened me and my young son . We didn't stay the second night and they never responded to the issue after calling everyday for 2 was . Very poor customer security.

Review 36:the rooms were clean .

Review 37:I didn't like that there was no comforter on bed and the breakfast not very much to choose from.

Review 38:I loved the set up when u walk inn clean to my standards.

Review 39:Stay was ok , but one older man brought the whole hotel down for us, not sure if he was the owner or staff? Didn't care if we where there or not! And breakfast was one pack of oatmeal and nothing else... We won't be back!!!

Review 40:No second lock on door. Building was more like an office building not a hotel and had trouble with television. The guy at the front desk told us, "it sucks, you probably have to sit closer to the TV" and laughed about it.

Review 41:Staff were like the invasion of the body snatchers...breakfast was a joke...they have an insurance office next to lobby. constantly had to ask for towels. the guest there were all too suspicious.

Review 42:Location/size of room

Review 43:Breakfast was pop tarts or granola bars. ANd the front desk clerkcharged my room to my credit card after I told them I would pay cashwhen I reserved my room.

Review 44:The room was huge and the price was cheap.

Review 45:Pillows were to soft. Room needs a table with two chairs to have in room dinner, play games or have a few cold ones at the end of the day. If customers are staying more than one night make sure there's an extra roll of toilet paper.

Review 46:Low cost for the number of days stayed. Staff was very friendly. Location was close to all the tourist attractions.

Review 47:I needed a secure and clean place to stay. They do not have a designated smoking garden/area. People sit by the front door and smoke and it gives the impression of a criminal hang out at first glance. Inside, the building is nicer and has the moderate amenities I needed. I think making a nice smoking area away from the front door would make everyone feel more welcome. Visitors, smokers, nonsmokers, etc. People should not have to sit on the front step or curb. I will probably stay again if my needs are the same.

Review 48:TV or phone to desk didn't work. Toilet paper not renewed stayed 2 nights, pillows too soft, blankets too thin, not variety of foods(toast ) coffee brand strong. We were 3 adults they only placed 2 sets of towels

Review 49:Easy access, small

Review 50:No one cleaned the room for the 3 days we stayed...when we arrived there were no pillow cases on the bed and no towels. The key became deactivated several times during the stay. 266 for three days I guess you get what you pay for.

Review 51:The bed was decent

Review 52:Comfortable bed.. Very good shower head and water pressure.. Nice flat screen TV.. Good size room.. Front desk was nice and accommodating.. Housekeeping does a good job.. Good location and good value for the buck..

Review 53:Their breakfast was pretty sparse , cereal or oatmeal, coffee, milk, and apples. Not enough for a diabetic. Luckily Denny's was 3 buildings down

Review 54:Everyone working front desk was very nice and very accommodating to our needs.

Review 55:We were supposed to have the breakfast included but for te 2 nights we stayed, the staff told us that the breakfast buffet was not available without giving any explanation or compensation

Review 56:Absolutely nothing

Review 57:The doors to the facility with the naked female statues

Review 58:Other than it being an office facility, I was happy to have a great space for the value of my money.. Only one staff member could have been more responsive to my needs and of course she had to have some spice to her.. Wasn't needed

Review 59:No amenities. Minimal breakfast. Had to carry luggage in thru front door up to second floor, tho' they did supply one cart. We had no tissue and needed n extra pillow (which was supplied)

Review 60:Very large room. Nice shower and bath. Attentive staff.

Review 61:The naked full size stone statues at the entrance, the hideous red and gold color rooms, the parking lot where the pole lights were not working, we were in the very back of the hotel and the noise from the freeway and people outside after midnight talking loudly. What a dump! Don't be fooled by the pictures featured on the web.

Review 62:nothing to like

Review 63:Run down room, worn, mismatched drapery. Room service only emptied trash. Bath towel and mat missing. Orig price of room 99 smackaroos. I pd 80. Perfumed air freshener too heavy. This was a one star hotel with visions of grandeur.

Review 64:The front desk was very friendly and helpful.

Review 65:The complimentary breakfast was lacking some fresh items. Instead of packaged sticky 'honey buns' and white powered donoughts, maybe some muffins would be better. Also, the curb appearance needs to be more inviting to families (no need for large statues of naked women at door)

Review 66:The location is great for getting around town.

Review 67:The rooms were bad. Smelled like smoke even though it's a smoke free hotel/room. Super thin walls, so we could hear everything next door. Curtains didn't close all the way, and the TV was stuck on 1 channel. They couldn't figure out how to fix it. Was charged extra money on my acct that in still trying to get back!

Review 68:The lobby was nice and updated

Review 69:The room was suppose to come with a free breakfast. If you call milk and cereal breakfast then you might like the place. I asked for a wake up call which never came. The place has Shuttle service. Requested the shuttle service at 9:30 AM, which there is a charge for. The shuttle showed up after 10:00. The shuttle was a privately owned car that was filthy and barely running. The driver didn't have change and said he would leave the change at the front desk, which of course was not there. The front desk did however give us the money after we had some conversation about the matter. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Review 70:The room was nice and clean. But is about all I can say about the place.

Review 71:Facility seemed mid-restoration, cleanliness questionable, and very minimal breakfast of poor quality.

Review 72:Location was convenient but right on highway/frontage road.

Review 73:Thought i was getting a deal place looks nice from outside there were no comforters for beds when we asked for them the staff said thats how the room came with just a fleece throw on bed no comforters. so me and my wife referred to the pictures and nothing really looks the same but the walls anyways just got the run around about them no cups no ice bucket no coffee maker no chairs in room no toilet paper holder and just one roll had to go get my own towles and paper from front desk there were roaches in the room and when told staff they said they never haf a complaint before us of the roaches the floor was so dirty my kids feet were black from walking on the carpet me and my son got ring worms the place is full of prostitution wide open so noticeable drug addicts i was getting on the elevator some guy tryed asking me for some drugs in front of my family i stayed two nights and was extra for the second night after getting promised a lower rate dont go to amco not worth it

Review 74:The location and price through booking.com

Review 75:The room was not up to the standards one would expect. Upon entering the room, the phone was ringing, I answered and was immediately informed I needed to pay $50 for smoking, I am not a smoker. After a few moments of trying to explain this, they finally figured out it was the wrong room. Next the lamp beside the bed wasn't working, the curtain rods were broken, the remote for the TV didn't work, and the carpet that was used as a baseboard, was peeling from the wall. Not satisfied I decided to check out. Next the Manager refused to talk with us about a refund, refused to talk with Booking. Finally a partially refund was provided, but still waiting on the remainder.

Review 76:Walls are very very thin you can hear ppl snoring or talking or whatever else they're doing in the rooms around you. There is only a small inner lock for safety and no door hangers.. Felt like room service or management could've come in at anytime. Very dark rooms

Review 77:Clean rooms good price lots of HBO channels great location great breakfast

Review 78:-Showers weren't to great -uneven floors, tripped once or twice -Could hear noises from hallway

Review 79:-Very Unique hotel, cool atmosphere -Great place for the price

Review 80:There were no towels or even sheets on my bed when I got there. Although they later gave these to me on request, they didn't deliver them to my room or make my bed. The breakfast consists only of travel-sized cereal boxes of things like Pops and Frosted Flakes.

Review 81:The price for a king size room that was reasonably spacious, although the space wasn't efficiently used

Review 82:Quiet during the day but also loud being next to a busy Hwy. 35. The heater was hard to operate. Breakfast was poor at best only had cereal and waffles. No fresh fruit. Lobby also had many young men hanging around at all hours of the day???

Review 83:The staff went out of their way to be helpful, Allen was great, Sam was helpful. Coffee was good.

Review 84:No laundry room or fittness room.

Review 85:They are soo friendly. Hey treat you like family. Shuttel service. Hot breakfast. Huge pretty rooms. Super Awesome!! YAY AMCO!!

Review 86:I think the only complaints I had were that the ac unit in our room stopped working in the middle of the night (it wasn't completely unbearable though), and that the door didn't have one of those knob locks above the door handle. There was a lock on the door, of course, but it's the kind where it unlocks and opens just by turning the handle. I would have felt better having that extra security on the door since I had my 2 small children with me, but they didn't really mess with it.

Review 87:The hotel was next door to the facility where my mother was having eye surgery so it was extremely convenient to just walk across the parking lot to get there and back. The room was a nice size, the bed was comfortable, pillows were nice and soft, the shower had nice water pressure, the room had enough space to set up my baby's play pen without bumping into it when I walked by. When we first arrived for check in, our room was not ready. So instead of making us wait for the room to be cleaned (which has happened to me before at a different hotel), the woman at the front desk simply gave us a different room. The free breakfast is continental but, hey, free is free. They had cereal, Belgian waffles, toast, cinnamon rolls, small pastries, milk, orange juice, and coffee. All in all, well worth our time and money. It was the most inexpensive hotel we found, next door to the eye surgery center, and it was nice. :)

Review 88:Felt like I was interrupting a meeting, could not recognize who was staff and the boyfirends, smoking at the entry doors then the butts were covered the next morning with red mulch. Small parking lot with a man lift taking up a lot, amazing at 8:30 am it started working right outside my window, and why was a guest put in that room? The room curtains need attention missing blinds and the parking lot light could not block out.

Review 89:Elevator, decor, room cleanliness

Review 90:Very unprofessional staff, wifi was up and down, none of the windows in any room opens, no peep hole on any of the room doors, super thin walls, uncomfortable and uneasy overall feeling, and pretty much every employer there were unprofessional, scam artists, and looked like major drug users... I'd rather stay at a motel 6, park west inn, or any other 0-star hotel than amco anyday... I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy... Enough said.

Review 91:Breakfast was ok I guess... I like the red color in room(s) too

Review 92:Non of the people working there had any competence in the hotel business. Probably cheap labor, too little pay for long working hours, staff seems to live there, very weird situation

Review 93:I made reservations in advanced, when I got there she told me it was all booked, I showed her my reservation number n said all we have is a suite, what's the point of Makin a reservation if you ain't going to honor it, I booked the suite for more than what the initial price, while in the room, someone was trying to get in, I opened the door and it was other guests, sayin they had booked the same room, that is poor management and careless about what they do..

Review 94:Smelled like glade plug ins had been dumped everywhere. People above us had a domestic dispute. I got to hear yelling for 2 hours. Not a relaxing place to stay at all. Won't stay here ever again

Review 95:None of what they offered there. Do not waste time or money here.

Review 96:I did Not even make it to the room before my girl friend was saying lets leave. No toilet paper in lobby bathroom. Hallways and elevators were hot. Giving the benefit of the doubt. I reached my room and the bed looked like someone just had wild sex in it. There were no clean towels. The trash was not taken out. Oh. And did i mention i had to bug the hotel 2 weeks straight for a refund because the night manager was not doing his/her job.

Review 97:No meat at breakfast I asked to be in a quiet room but the room next to me sounded like a non-sexual wrestling/slap match was going on around 1-2am

Review 98:Great staff Clean hotel Called front desk about non-sexual wrestling/slap match around 1-2am and it stopped within 5-10 min so I could fall back asleep

Review 99:Really, really need more pillows and towels! And more soundproofing from "honeymooning" couple next door. Otherwise it was great.

Review 100:Location, cost, cleanliness, decor

Review 101:Towels could've been cleaner, shower curtain broken, No continental breakfast!

Review 102:Right off highway, reasonable prices.

Review 103:Breakfast consisted of only pop tarts and cereal.

Review 104:Great room, friendly staff, convenient and comfortable.

Review 105:This place was disgusting and full of criminal drama. It was a totalnightmare. I am glad to be out of there.

Review 106:Nothing.

Review 107:it was nice inside and they serve a good breakfast and it's right on 35 so it was convenient for everything I needed to do on this business trip

Review 108:Room was given away. Then they tried to give me someone else's room, it had bed bugs

Review 109:Smells really bad, no elevator, sketchy people and place, really dirty

Review 110:Nth

Review 111:the customer service was great

Review 112:Elevator problems!! Poor quality towels, linens & continental bkfst. Room curtains won't close.

Review 113:Friendly front desk lady.

Review 114:the service not good. the door closed is broked no toiler paper, no towel on the badroom.

Review 115:the location

Review 116:THE STAFF AND THE MATTRESS ON THE BED

Review 117:I was never unhappy about my stay.

Review 118:The staff were professional and courteous .

Review 119:I felt like there was a chance of being possibly mugged.

Review 120:good for short stay, good price

Review 121:Unprofessional

Review 122:Charged me twice!

Review 123:Couldn't complain for $70 a night the room was very clean but the hotel smelled weird

Review 124:The elevator was broken

Review 125:Great hotel for the price

Review 126:Was there for two nights. There was a wasp in our room one day and a roach the next.
