Reviews for Budget Host Inn Columbia

Review 1:My room looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in days. There was sticky stuff all over dresser. Bath tub was dirty. Water in shower wouldn't stay hot. After I complained I got no refund or discount

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:Pillows on the bed to small and flat

Review 4:Daughter goes to missouri university and we need something close. Hotel is located very close .staff is friendly and cost is very good

Review 5:Shower head was very low , the bed keep falling off the frame and landing on floor , the breakfast was a joke , had 25" tube tv .

Review 6:Close to collage

Review 7:shower heads too low. Noisy as it was busy homecoming weekend. beds not that comfortable. could use extra pillows.

Review 8:convenient. friendly staff. Had availability. Housekeeping staff very attentive. TV, wifi, fridge, micro

Review 9:room needs updating , AC didn't work, TV had issues working day 1, bed hard as rock,, this is a 1 star at best, not a 2 star at all

Review 10:that we were able to get a room in Columbia

Review 11:The hotel is very run down. The toilet was clogged when we arrived. We asked for a plunger to fix it and what we received was disgustingly dirty. The shower knobs were broken (but the shower itself was nicely warm and with good water pressure.) The room smelled. Despite the rundown condition, it was clear the cleaning staff made an effort to keep the room clean. The so-called breakfast was really, really, really bad. Fortunately, the hotel was next to Waffle House.

Review 12:The people I interacted with on the phone were friendly and helpful. For the most part, the desk staff was friendly. The cleaning staff was very friendly and polite.

Review 13:old and rundown-needs to be updated; it was parent weekend at the college so the fees were raised -we paid 122.00 for a hotel room that was not worth more than 60.00 a night

Review 14:This place was beyond dirty. The room smelled, the blankets had burn holes in them even though we were in a non-smoking room. No hot water, bath tub did not drain and the water was yellow.

Review 15:The toilet was dirty even on the second day after maid service had been in the room. The maid took soiled linens but did not restock with clean towels/washclothes, the coffee pot still had old coffee and used coffee pack when we returned our second night. Dirty cups, empty sugar packets and straws were still strewn about. No hot water either night of our stay.

Review 16:The hotel was close to the university where our daughter attends.

Review 17:The room was dirty when we first arrived and there was a bad musky smell in the room. Not enough electrical outlets available.

Review 18:The employees were pleasant and helpful.

Review 19:Sheets didn't fit bed and kept coming off revealing a disgusting mattress. Carpet was filthy. Shower was gross and no shampoo/soap. Wi-if did not work at all. This was the worst hotel stay I've ever been too and paid way too much.

Review 20:Breakfast was limited but nice. Believe I ended up with a film bed rather than a queen but OK since only one adult

Review 21:I was able to get my room much earlier than expected. Right off the pool area. Very quiet. Didn't hear neighbors

Review 22:the carpet was badly worn and needed to be cleaned towels were bare threaded very thin oversall cleanliness of accessible room was poor. Toilet was inopperable at times.

Review 23:very convenient to interstate and where I needed to travel to.. really nice accessible bathroom as I requested.

Review 24:I paid over $100 dollars for this hotel, once taxes came into play. Having spent this much, I would expect a higher quality facility. The bed sheets were old and threadbare, the blankets are older (one had a cricket ensnarled in the wool), and the box spring had blood stains on it. The beds looked older as well. ***The shower/ bath plumbing was coming out of the wall, and the pipes in the building rattled all night, which sounded like a jackhammer.*** I go almost no sleep as a result. My brother and I were staying together, ( driving cross country- to home), and we had a twelve hour drive planned the next day- so really needed some rest. Breakfast was subpar, with offerings of sugary cereal, biscuits and gravy ( gravy was clearly out of a can,( and lukewarm), and limited other selection. Night staff was friendly and responded quickly to a request for TP in our room, but most of the staff seemed apathetic and overworked. I would not stay here again. Even as a budget listing, it is overpriced, outdated, and not particularly clean. I spent the night worrying about bedbugs and being startled by the frequent jackhammer-like sound emanating from the walls.

Review 25:One staff person on the night shift was relatively friendly.

Review 26:TV channels did not match what was posted in the room. When we called the front desk to ask about the HBO channel which we couldn't find, we were told that the provider had made changes and we would need to flip thru the channels (which we had already done). When we went to the provider's website, we learned that the channel had not changed we finally gave up. Poor customer service, in my opinion.

Review 27:The air conditioner worked.

Review 28:It was too close to the pool and was very noisy, and you had to walk to breakfast.

Review 29:The bed was really comfortable, I only used the bed, sink and refrig. I loved the location.

Review 30:I was really surprised that housekeeping did not appear our entire visit. We did receive new towels on the door in a bag on Sunday but we left that day. The room wasn't dirty but I'm just surprised.

Review 31:The location was perfect and what we paid fit right into our budget. The staff was more than friendly and helpful. We had a situation with our door not wanting to close and maintenance jumped right on it. Great response.

Review 32:The room was unclean. There was hair found in the tub and sink. The tub, itself, was in poor condition. When running water, there was paint floating in the water that has chipped off the tub. In addition, the tub was very discolored and in poor condition. The hair dryer didn't work. The a.c. unit was not working correctly. It would run, but not cool the room down. There was a significant odor when it ran, so we just turned it off. The sheet on the bed was stained and had a hole in it, which appeared to be from a cigarette burn.

Review 33:The process for reserving the room was easy. Check in went smoothly. The tv worked. When I let management know about the issues with the room, we were told that this wasn't acceptable and that it would be addressed. There was also a discount given to us. It wasn't a large discount, but at least something.

Review 34:Our room was dirty, curtains stained and ripped, shower nozzle broken, dirt in the floor, holes in the bedspread, and smears of something all over the desk. I brought in a bottle of windex to wipe everything off. Neither of us opted to shower or bathe in the dirty looking tub.

Review 35:The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Review 36:Didn't liked the fact wfi didn't work and second bed had metal sticking out from under box spring

Review 37:the price until I stayed there. But will never stay there or ever recommend it to a friend

Review 38:The back building is so close to the freeway that it is almost impossible to get any sleep. If you stay there ask not to be put in the far back building on the freeway side.

Review 39:It has friendly staff and is easy access from the freeway.

Review 40:The room smelled awful! We psi for two nights but left and drove back home early, because it was too bad to take for another night! Also, very noisy! We could hear everyone's conversations as they walked by our room.

Review 41:Mattress was comfortable

Review 42:I don't mind being by the highway; however, the noise from the guests was too much. People coming in until 5 a.m. and being very loud. Then new group of people getting up and around at 7 a.m. and also being very loud and kids running up and down. Didn't get any sleep!

Review 43:The staff was nice.

Review 44:sticky carpet.... does not feel clean... forgot our personal pillow in the room so we called front desk and asked housekeeping to keep it for us we would pick it up later that day-front desk was tooooo busy to retrieve it when we came back for it - front desk people were not friendly / helpful..... noise level from outside traffic was high... noise level from furnace / air was high... noise level of bathroom from fan was high.... all preventing sleep ! and we had our 9 month old grandchild with us... were given a second floor room farthest from Stairway.... no crib was available

Review 45:nothing

Review 46:The room was not good. First room I was given was not accessible due to a malfunction in door lock. The next room had spider web in the corner of room. Not clean.

Review 47:Staff very helpful.

Review 48:Layout is not convenient. Office is in a separate building. Facilities need some upgrading. Breakfast is high on carbs and not much else.

Review 49:It is located near I-70 and is an easy 10 minute or less ride to most attractions, including the University of Missouri and downtown. It is a safe area.

Review 50:overpriced for what we got. Room was small, smelled musty, shabby, the backing of the curtains was stuck to the window, no soap or shampoo supplied, the breakfast had stale biscuits, there were cigarette butts in the stairwell next to a discarded washcloth. The man sleeping in his car was able to contine sleeping because of the broken security light, but the rat traps on the property was the last straw.

Review 51:The location.

Review 52:Dirty stairwells... Old and in much need of maintenance. There were no hand towels or wash rags in the room .. Had to ask for them ( they did bring them right over). Breakfast was scant... We went to Waffle House right next door. "Queen bed" looked more like a full.

Review 53:Relatively clean...in need of a lot of maintenance. Fine for a place to stay for one night .. Cheap. Good quick check in.. Staff were pleasant and responsive. It is easy to find from the highway and close to town.

Review 54:The rooms had a smell to them like a cleaner or something, burn holes in the blankets and quilts, burn marks on the bathtub. It looked clean but didn't feel clean.

Review 55:Location, easy to find, friendly staff, price was good or at least comparable

Review 56:The sheets looked 20 years old. Same with the blankets. Crickets in the room kept my wife up one night. Killed 3 bugs, beatles I think. She wanted to leave then. People were nice and helpful. Would rather stay in Jeff City and drive 30 miles if there was no choice again. In a business traveler and it was the worst hotel I ever stayed in. Would have checked out but it was a Mizzou home game and this was all that was available.

Review 57:The bed was sunken in the middle, so it was uncomfortable. There was a huge mildew and mold area above the door to the room. We had to buy mold and mildew killer and spray it each time we entered the room to get rid of the bad smell.

Review 58:Some construction work nearby woke me up early on Friday morning, nothing you could really do about that. The interstate was very near, and during the morning hours was a bit noisy. The curtain just above the air conditioner and covering the front window blew up from the air conditioner, so I had to put 2 hangers on top to hold the curtain down. (then I forgot to hang them back up)

Review 59:The price was very good, and I was pretty much just sleeping there. The location was very convenient and close to Columbia University.

Review 60:They had not received my request to add a bed, but instead I had to get a room with a double bed at an extra cost. I had received a confortmation e-mail from booking.com say that everything was confirmed and no extra charge, but the Hotel said that they had never even been contacted.

Review 61:The staff at check-in were not friendly and were more interested in chatting amongst themselves. The first room we were assigned had a door that would not lock from the outside. After 6.5 hours driving we wanted to go and get something to eat but couldn't because we couldn't leave the room. We repeatedly asked for another room but were told they had to come and look at it and see if they could fix it. It took multiple calls and over 30 mins for the manager, to finally come to the room and tell us what we had been telling her all along - that the door wouldn't lock and that we needed a new room.We hauled all our belongings to room #2 only to discover that the air-conditioning didn't work and we had ripped/stained sheets on the bed. More calls to the front desk. Eventually a member of staff came down and said they could offer us an upgrade to a king room with a fridge and microwave. OK, so we moved again.Room #3 had a refrigerator, but it was unusable because it smelled like a dead, decaying racoon had been it's last contents. After my husband opened the refrigerator, we had to endure the smell in the room for 20 mins. Another call to the front desk to ask them to remove the offensive item - they did so the next day. Oh, and did I mention that the free WiFi wasn't working at this point? The room rate stated that it included breakfast - we got to the lobby around 7:45 to find that they hadn't provided for the number of guests - choices and quantity were pathetic. I ended up with one tiny muffin. My husband got the last biscuit and gravy. We endured a second night but it was not pleasant - the room and bathroom were dirty, the walls were patched and touched up with daubs of paint in places. Had it not been one of the busiest tourist weekends in Columbia, we would have gone elsewhere. We didn't even bother with breakfast the second morning - just opted for McDonalds.

Review 62:Nothing. Worst accommodation I have ever stayed in.

Review 63:water came in through the windows and the door during a storm. the place wreaked of mold and mildew there wasn't enough towels the air conditioner was loud breakfast was supposed to be included in the bill but wasn't offered. tub didn't look like it had been cleaned

Review 98:No hot water and was supposed to get a queen bed and got a full.Sheets were dirty had holes in them.

Review 99:Breakfast is gone if you get there near the end of the 6 to 9 am window.

Review 100:Asked for and received extra pillows for my wife and I.

Review 101:The beds were hard !!!

Review 102:Nothing!!!

Review 103:The place is not worth the money at all. We will never stay there again.

Review 104:You need to get rid of the roaches we saw at leastnear the nightstand which is so disgusting.

Review 105:No Fridge or microwave!

Review 106:Location to the University of Missouri!

Review 107:Manager was helpful, and the reception ladies were nice and friendly. Parking next to the room is very convenient.

Review 108:Dirty!!!

Review 109:Doorknob was busted when I arrived.

Review 110:Repairs were done within 15 minutes of me alerting the front desk.

Review 111:The bug in the bathtub

Review 112:Friendly staff

Review 113:The carpet was gross, was afraid to take my socks off. The bed was hard as a rock. After a long drive, my back was already killing me, I didn't need that.

Review 114:The only great thing about the room was the rain showerhead in the bathroom.

Review 115:the bathroom to our room was covered in black mold.which was extremely bad for us being our youngest son has severe allergies and asthma.with that being said he had an attack the entire time we were there.

Review 116:Holes in the blankets and towels, bugs, dirty carpet, foul odor, holes in the walls, no washclothes, no toilet paper, bad neighborhood, old linens.

Review 117:Had to move rooms at 12:30 in the morning because water was running from the ceiling over the toilet in a constant stream. I was told we would get a credit for our trouble but never received one.

Review 118:Closeness to the College

Review 119:Dirty dirty dirty.....rude housekeepers. ...Could see right in our room because the curtains were so worn. The remote and alarm clock didn't even work. There was hair in our tub before we had even showered that was for sure not ours. Disgusting!!!

Review 120:Nothing. We had mouse poop in our bed and many other issues during our stay. I emailed them fire a refund and haven't heard a thing back.

Review 121:We paid for 2 nights. We actually left after one night. The first room they gave us wasn't serviced. Trash everywhere. We told the office. They gave us a different room. The room had bad odor. The ice machine was out of service. It was horrible. We paid $200 dollars for 2 nights for a room that wasn't worth $20. It was graduation week no other hotels were available. Baaad experience.

Review 122:Shower heads are wayyyyyy to low..should be a bit higher, had to lean backwards..wasn't too happy about that !!! The window on our room needs to be cleaned OR replaced... I think you should somehow have a side note in your hotel description that the pool is not open until Memorial weekend.....yes I know it is still April..BUT...the weather was high 70's...would have been nice to at least sit in the pool area in the sun.

Review 123:The ft desk staff were great...very personable, very helpful, very pleasant !!!!

Review 124:Very run down and old facility. The paint was peeling on the exterior door. The decor, carpet, tv, and bedding were old and in poor shape. About 1/8 of a roll of toilet paper was in the bathroom. The hot water faucet did not work in the bathroom sink. Very close to the highway, so it was noisy.

Review 125:Offer of chocolate chip cookie and water at check in.
