Reviews for Orangewood Suites University

Review 1:It has serious maintainance issues. Very old property. Aircond did not work properly. Shower also didn't work properly. Poor maintenance

Review 2:Cleaners staff were very nice . I forgot my I pad in the room and they gave it at the reception

Review 3:Only problem is that I had a seizure and broke your closet door and had to wait to get my cell phone back that is conducted for business. I ended upon staying I town for5 more days.

Review 4:The rooms were out dated and the couch sofa was broke....they also said that they didn't take prepaid cards but they had already secured the money off my card.

Review 5:They are re-doing the place. A lot of old school looks. We were in the area yet to be re-done.

Review 6:Awesome space. We had an incredible 3 bedroom room. The loft rooms were fun. Brand new TV's

Review 7:When we first arrived the room had a really strong odor as if you were trying to mask something else. Breakfast could have had a bit more variety.

Review 8:Our room seemed to be well maintained. Beds were really comfortable and we had everything we needed, sorta like home away from home. Will stay again.

Review 9:There isn't much that we didn't like! The coffee pot was small (single serve)so we bought our own for the week. Other than that it was clean, comfortable, and we enjoyed it!

Review 10:We loved the apartment style feel which was a pleasant departure from standard, hotel-style chains. It felt like a little home away from home. The food was very good at breakfast & dinner. Upon request, the staff cleaned off our porch (it had rained extensively prior to our trip).

Review 11:The staff was completely rude to my mother and I. The manger does not wear a name tag so I was unable to get her name to report her. However I will not be taking my business back there.

Review 12:Parking spot is small and hard to find if come back late.

Review 13:Large room with nice kitchen with normal size frig. Bathroom has bathtub and toilet in separate room and the sink, which we like. The room also has air vent as well. WIFI is fast so that a big thumbs up. Breakfast has plenty of selection with hot dishes, not just juice and muffins like other hotels. Will definitely come back.

Review 14:The housekeeping was questionable. their cart was outside our room when we left at 10:30am. didn't see her do we just took DND sign off door. thinking room would get cleaned and it did not!

Review 15:The location and rooms were excellent!

Review 16:The shower was kind of low, or maybe I was too tall for it. Room service tried entering the room when I was asleep, but I think that's mostly my fault for being in bed around 10am.

Review 17:The room was larger than most hotel rooms I've ever stayed in, especially for the price. The full kitchen was a big bonus so I didn't have to order out the nights that I was there. It's actually really great location to be at if you don't want to stay downtown but still be near it. Was about a 15 minute drive , maybe 20 with traffic to the downtown area.

Review 18:They Double booked our room so we walked into another room being used by someone else. We were then given a poor quality room in turn. We proceeded to get a refund for our room as we were not pleased with our experience.

Review 19:Sweet receptionist

Review 20:As with all properties where guests may smoke in any area, they were not able to fully eradicate the smell of a previous smoker having been in our non-smoking room.

Review 21:Wouldn't accept my state employee ID or waive my taxation. My lights flickered and were difficult to get to turn on. The patio/sliding glass door made me a little uneasy security wise as I was traveling alone. Furniture was a bit shabby. seemed a bit pricey for what it was . Complimentary breakfast wasn't too tasty

Review 22:Spacious. Clean. Nice staff

Review 23:A kettle could have been useful.

Review 24:The room was huge. In addition to Breakfast, a very nice light evening meal with beer was offered during weekdays. Overall, the room was well facilitated and the pool was quite nice too.

Review 25:Well, we paid for a non smoker room and we ended up having that evil smell in our unit for the whole time. Also, one of the employees was really nasty but the second one a young girl who helped us was very sweet and nice, breakfast was nasty, 0 quality, never consider people on diets or diabetic people, just regular fatty traditional food, not even the minimum would it be whole whit bread...Conclusion about the smoker, any body just to be able to get a room would tell you, Im a non smoker...Think about, ? Do you smoke? question, me in need of having the apartment for the night, answer no.

Review 26:Toilet had a small issue of re-filling slowly in room 251. Minor issue that will likely be fixed.

Review 27:Location was excellent. Clean room with a full kitchen for a fair price. Can't ask for more.

Review 28:Roaches and ants!!! Should I say more? As I walked in our room #221 wewhere welcomed by 3 tree roaches. One on the ceiling, one on the kitchentable, and one by the bed. I have a upsetting feeling towards roaches. We called the receptionist at the time and she was a very friendly warmlady. Helped me through that problem by offering a new room. Non-smoking. Sorry but I smoke, so I said no I'll just stay the nighthere and take it day by day. It was Labor Day weekend so finding anotherplace to stay was minimal. Then she offered a no fee stay. Well thatsounds nice right? Being offered a no fee stay to deal with a couple ofroaches wasn't a big deal anymore. Well the next night we noticedthe line of ants crawling on the door knob. Horrible visual for me andmy guest. Having no time to complain, we went off to explore Austin, tx.Skip to the check out moment, coming across their gm. She was nice untilI told her the issues. She didn't believe me when I told her heremployee offered a no fee stay. Let me add I have every roach and ant onvideo. She still didn't care, I know feel like a total fool standinghere explaining the case. She then turn sour and started getting a veryrude tone with me. Now I'm getting frustrated, at the end I paid mypart, she did give me a 50% off a day stay. Good enough I guess, butthat was not what I was promised. If I wanted to sleep with roaches anda gang of ants, I could've went camping. Would've been a morepleasant stay than the experience at "OrangeWood suites ninsects"! To end this long memory, I work for a very prestige clubin Houston for members only. So I know hospitality. She was truly theworse at speaking her case. Trashy place if you ask me.

Review 29:What I like about this place is that it was in a good location for whereI wanted to go in Austin. And the pool was opens 24 hours. That'sall! Everything else wasn't up to par.

Review 30:Day Matienance was swift! We recommend an after hours/on call repairman. BUT we are not deterred from visiting again being, we have faith this issue will be repaired. We even requested the same unit on a upcoming reservation this Fall!!!

Review 31:#155 was our unit and we loved it! The GrandKids enjoyed bird watching from the balcony. Landscaping was pleasing on the eye. AC was cold& the full kitchen was a bonus. It was more like a Condo than a hotel. Matienance issues were quickly resolved between 9-6. Very spacious&roomy. We've already reserved for a upcoming Holiday!!!

Review 32:Austin freeway system is crazy - the hotel was right beside the freeway which made it easy to get to places in town. A restaurant named Papadeaux (sp?) was right next door. After a day of travel it was nice to be able to walk next door for a fabulous meal.

Review 33:This appeared to be a converted apartment complex. It was Sha by in places as was the decor in the ros

Review 34:The rooms were very clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Review 35:If you requested that house keeping come at a later time I noticed that your room was skipped completely. I received no service all three nights of my stay.

Review 36:We were disappointed in the size of the pool and the number of towels provided in the room.

Review 37:We liked the patio areas and being able to step outside. We also liked the large space. The air conditioner worked great!

Review 38:The pool was a little dirty. Near our room the stairs to go up were wrapped with caution tape forcing us to walk around to the other set of stairs. Sunday morning when we checked out the front desk worker didn't seem very happy.

Review 39:I love the rooms! Every time we go to Austin we stay here.

Review 40:The front desk woman was rude. Didn't even greet us when we walked into lobby. Didn't believe my card was a credit card thought it was a pre paid when I specifically told her it was a credit card. Took my card somewhere to "verify" if it was a credit card or not. She was very very rude. Our bar in the room had ants.

Review 41:The room was big and had a kitchen. Like a mini apt!!

Review 42:The apartment complex is probably from the 80' ies, a bit old but charming. Might be time for a renovation. There was a water lack at the bathrooms door and the carpet was wet at one point.

Review 43:We loved the spacey apartment. Beds were very comfortable, shower was good. Quite location and perfect accessible to all directions.

Review 44:Even though we had a 2 bedroom loft 'apartment', there was no privacy. The loft is open above the living room & there's no way to close off the 'bedroom'. It's just a space in the downstairs, with an accordion door that doesn't actually latch or shut out sounds. Might as well have been one big room, and since we stayed a month, it was frustrating.

Review 45:Everything else was fine.

Review 46:Parking away from room that we were in. Location right off highway kind of makes it hard to get out into the main road.

Review 47:The price for a three bed, two story loft was awesome! Lots of pillows and comfy bed!!! Loved the kitchen so we didn't have to eat out the whole time. A little dated but overall - Good stay!

Review 48:Parking awful, not enough spaces, rooms need updating. room was cleaned but smelled old. Grounds not well kept, pool has no lights at nite. Sofa bed not comfortable. Breakfast buffet consists of eggs, cereal, sausage patties, a little fruit. No pancakes/waffles.

Review 49:Liked the apartment style setup. Staff nice.

Review 50:Only real downside was that there wasn't enough dining space when we went down Thursday night for our complimentary dinner. It was completely full and food isn't allowed to leave the dining area. Also, our coffee maker wasn't working, but over all, this place was awesome.

Review 51:This place was really pretty nice. I enjoyed the full size kitchen, that was fantastic. We could buy food and cook in instead of spending a ton of money eating out, feeding a family of five.

Review 52:The shampoo was terrible so bring your own. The couch was very uncomfortable.

Review 53:There was plenty of room for a family of 5. The staff was very friendly. The free breakfast was decent.

Review 54:The patience of the desk clerk was remarkable while we were cheking in there was an unruly man basically threatening the desk clerk and he remaines calm the whole time

Review 55:They would not take any of my Visa cards because they kept saying the were pre paid and I kept telling them no they weren't I even called my bank to assure them it was a bank and not prepaid but the lady there named Claire was extremely rude and just wouldn't take it. Finally I had to use one of my credit cards and when our other group of friend for there, Claire did the same. And after all I was charged twice, on my credit card and on the one they wouldn't take, I have no idea how they charged my visa since "they don't take those" it took almost 3 weeks to get my money back :/ the place was great it was just horrible staff

Review 56:I like the place, it's like having your own small place with all you need even if it's just for a few days

Review 57:It is a tad loud at night time when other guests were in the nearby lot talking. However the front desk staff were rapid in their response and handled it well.

Review 58:The space that is available in the deluxe suite was more than sufficient. It really felt like a home away from home. Even though it was not the most modern furnishings it was very comfortable and functional. The included breakfast and evening happy hours were also greatly appreciated.

Review 59:Air conditioner did not cool and TV remote out of batteries

Review 60:The fact that it was available and at only a slightly elevated price during 2015 SXSW. Attentive staff.

Review 61:Noisy at all hours in the night, unfortunately.

Review 62:Big room, comfortable temperature, pretty lobby, pay when you get there and can change your reservation anytime. Great restaurant near by that is open late.

Review 63:Was there for the weekend to see a concert. Great condo style room for the money. Not a huge room but plenty of space for 4 adults. Staff was really friendly and attentive. Close to the freeway and short drive to 6th street. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 64:I did not like that i was sick and they would not let my grandson get a banana out of the breakfast area to bring to the room for me to take my medicine says it is against Tx state law never heard that before.

Review 65:I liked everything about the hotel quite good area.

Review 66:Reserved a smoking room and it had no ashtrays. Only had 2 sets of towels for 2 people. Need more towels. The sofas need to b updated. The cushions r old and sunk down into the sofa.

Review 67:Nice little place with a full kitchen. The receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. No ice machines and she had a bag of ice ready for me to pick up.

Review 68:From Tues. until checkout Sunday, no maid service. Asked maid to clean on Fri. Only appearance by housekeeping was Wed. when wastebaskets were emptied. When we checked out, the the waste baskets were overflowing..even though I did see a housekeeping person and asked for service. None ever was provided.

Review 69:Convenient to get to 181 and other expressways; can walk to a couple of good. Room very clean on arrival.

Review 70:the location wasn't GREAT, kind of on the edge of a sketchy area... other than that no problems

Review 71:loved the room, the 2 story loft made the room feel extremely spacious. the staff was courteous and the checkin/checkout process was extremely efficient. the kitchenette had everything we needed and the hotel was nice and quiet.

Review 72:Our first night the heater was not working and it was a colder night than usual! Had to wait early morning to call maintenance to get the controls fixed

Review 73:These were once apartments but now converted as suites, but don't let that fool you! We were comfortable as can be and we were able to get around downtown and other places we wanted to go within 10-20 minutes. Great location if you're wanting to explore Austin. Also, if you're on a bit of a budget, the kitchen helps. Has a microwave, stove, a freezer/fridge just like an apartment would.

Review 74:I read the room description before booking and yet somehow didn't realize until I was there that I had a balcony. The room was spotless and had everything I needed.

Review 75:wanted to switch rooms they wanted to have us check out leave the room and come back at 3 to check back in... my boyfriend had to go to work would have signed a cc authorization form for me to use his card and they wouldnt allow it sent him to work VERY LATE

Review 76:The room really cool its different from any other hotel in the city

Review 77:The hotel is a old condo complex next to I-35. It is newly remodeled but shows its age.

Review 78:This is our second time staying here. We attend a convention every year in Austin. I look forward to this hotel because the loft suite is so big. 2 Bedrood and 2 bath with a kitchenette. The kids had plenty of room to spread out and relax. Usually hotel rooms are cramped since I do not want to have kids in seperate room.

Review 79:No working fireplace Stairs were not easy to navigate in condo and more stairs just to get in How is this handicapped accessible?

Review 80:price ok. Location was just ok

Review 81:The ceiling behind the curtain had a large water leak and mold. Safety covers on the roof access ladders had rusted off their hinges.

Review 82:The room was cheap, large, and well appointed.

Review 83:Very dirty toilet, towels, taps, no hot water, smelly Aircon filter, some lights not working, aggressive reception when trying to check in late at night.

Review 84:Bed size, room size.

Review 85:The exterior landscaping is ok and the grounds are kept up/clean but the exterior of the buildings are in need of repairs and updating. The buildings and grounds look like a renovated apartment complex where the managers don't want to invest any money into the upkeep of their buildings. The interior rooms are beautiful. The interior and exterior are as different as night and day. Our room was located around back so we had to drag everything down a sidewalk around to the back. There was no access thru the gate in the back at all. That was the worst thing about this place. The rooms were worth the stay, though. We will be back. I hope they make repairs and much needed exterior renovations by next year.

Review 86:Extremely clean suites on inside. There were 2 bedrooms with king bed upstairs, queen bed downstairs. It's like a full 2 BR apt. Bathrooms and large closets both upstairs and down. Kitchen with stove, frig, ice maker!, lg screen TV's up & downstairs! Fireplace and comfy sofa. Lots of square feet, very roomy!

Review 87:everything about the hotel. I booked it for 6 days and checked out after the 1 st night and booked a different hotel down the street. I woke up with red marks all over my body and told the staff and they didn't care and did nothing about it.

Review 88:nothing

Review 89:The staff were very accommodating and went above and beyond to be helpful. The location was perfect for the money. Only a short can ride to sixth st. Everyone loved staying here and th price was fantastic!

Review 90:The breakfast could be a little more interesting. A waffle maker would be great. Still will stay here again

Review 91:Quick Check-in, Clean rooms, Our room was very spacious and the furniture comfortable.

Review 92:Landscaping less than desirable Furniture way too out of date Holes in the ply board in all the cabinets that are covered with trash cans or appliances Vents are filthy Cannot bring hot breakfast back to your room to eat Pots and Pans way to basic Fridge/Freezer had mold Not truly half board it is breakfast only Communication with cleaning staff difficult. They did not speak English

Review 93:Design of the room was nice Flat Screen TV a plus Patio was nice Good value for price

Review 94:There was nothing about my stay at Orangewood Suites that I disliked. Customer service was GREAT along with the food and the stay!!

Review 95:I enjoyed my entire stay in your wonderful and relaxing hotel. I was very impressed with the beautiful relaxing room and atmosphere. I will gladly recommend this outstanding hotel to all of my family, friends, and co-workers visiting the Austin, Texas area.

Review 96:No elevator & knifes weren't sharp at all. Had hard time cutting food.

Review 97:The room was very spacious & had a full size fridge. We were able to bbq poolside.

Review 98:Room was dirty full of dead insects. Sheets were dull and towels were thin and smelled really bad. Bathroom and kitchen needed a very good cleanning. Rugs need to be changed. I woke up with a cockroack on the bed. I was changed from that room to another were there was so improvement. DEFINITLY I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel!!!!
