Reviews for Yarra Valley Grand

Review 1:The TV was in a different room to the bed.

Review 2:Close to the wineries. Loved the upstairs balcony with the view. There was air conditioning on every level in the tower room so the room was cool even though it was very hot outside. The hotel has charm.

Review 3:The day we stayed was very hot and power was off for quite a while with no ac In room was not their falt but staff did not handle the situation very well

Review 4:The rooms were a bit small although quite comfortable.

Review 5:In a good location to get to our function on St Huberts Road. Parking on-site was good and the breakfast was very good.

Review 6:A little noisy with morning traffic if you had the window open. But not too bad

Review 7:Didn't have to travel too far to have a feeling of being 'out in the country'

Review 8:great location. good clean room although a little small, good continental breakfast, good bistro food, good bar with reasonable wine list, pleasant staff

Review 9:Nothing.

Review 10:We liked the old hotel building and the location. It was convenient for us as we were trekking around the Yarra Valley for my wife's 50th birthday.

Review 11:We were in tower room which we understand has not been renovated... And that was fine however, as I have some mobility issues I was unable to access 3/4 of the room due to the steep stairs. The bottom floor was absolutely fine!

Review 12:Bed was exceptionally comfortable! Breakfast was simple but perfect for what we wanted. Room was clean and bathroom lovely. The balconies that we had access to were lovely as were the views.

Review 13:Staying 2 night was too long , one night stay only , way too noisy with pub crowed down stair. Shower not great a bit dangerous getting in and out

Review 14:Was clean good location nice pub to have a meal and drink , staying in a bit of Australian history .

Review 15:Walls were obviously too thin...were just talking in our room around 11:30pm and had neighbour next door bang on the wall.

Review 16:Clean, close to venue we needed to be at and staff were friendly.

Review 17:A very quaint hotel . The staff we dealt with were charming and helpful. The situation was just what we wanted in regard to proximity to the venue we were attending.

Review 18:There was live music on our last night there until 11 at night and it was extremely loud in our room.

Review 19:Great location, good restaurant and lively atmosphere downstairs as well as a beautiful old building.

Review 20:Being kept awake all night with noisy people that decided to chat loudly in the hallway from 2-6am wasn't happy at all that there was no staff on to control the noise as we paid $185 to stay in the room for the night and hardly slept with a 4 hour drive home the following day!!

Review 21:Liked to set up Great meals and great atmosphere

Review 22:The room is worn out and in need of a refresh, carpet thread bare.

Review 23:large room, comfortable bed. room is above the pub so there is some noise until it shuts. Did not disturb us though.

Review 24:It's winter! No electric blanket! No microwave to heat my heat pack, Leaking cistern in toilet was annoying. Shabby Stained furniture (chairs)

Review 25:breakfast was good. Dining room was pleasant.

Review 26:When we booked we thought that on a Friday and Saturday night at a country Hotel there would possibly be music and loud and it was. However the music was good and it finished at 11pm so for us it wasn't a problem. Food from the Bistro was great and local wine at reasonable prices. It was also a bonus to be able to organise a drop off and pick up at a Vineyard Restaurant.

Review 27:The noise and the old worn out carpets. They urgently need renewing to justify the price charged per night.

Review 28:The old world charm. It was pleasantly warm.

Review 29:Weird noises in the room from pipes or something led to a disturbed nights sleep and the bathroom was tiny for what was billed as a superior room.

Review 30:Nice friendly staff

Review 31:That we had to go off to a wedding, could have happily stayed in and enjoyed our surrounds.

Review 32:Loved the cosy fire at lunch, great food, and beautiful old world setting.

Review 33:We didn't like the constant noise from the fridge all night. it kept us awake. This is the only negative. Everything else was beautiful.

Review 34:The charm of the hotel.

Review 35:Very noisy room...band from downstairs echoed throughout the hotel until around 10 pm. Fridge in room was very noisy. Some engine outside was on all night. Carpet threadbare and floorboards squeak.

Review 36:Not much..the reception staffwere good.

Review 37:The room needed a face-lift. Cracks in the sink Toilet that dripped constantly. Carpet was threadbare and needs replacing. Would have been nice to have a nice cooked breakfast instead of continental as there are no other cafés in town.

Review 38:Staff very friendly. Location great Free parking. Very comfortable bed Outside of the building was beautiful.

Review 39:Staff cleaning other rooms very noisy in morning when we had already asked for late checkout. Could hear vacuum being dragged down hall way lots of crashing and banging. We ended up leaving at regular checkout time not the later time as agreed. Put a dampener on what was a good night. Also had to ask for wifi password at dinner was not given it on check in. Staff were a bit slow when waiting for table at dinner had to go find staff to arrange table was ignored by staff going by. I couldn't rate breakfast as we didn't have it there was included in our balloon flight which is why we visited this town

Review 40:Close by

Review 41:Provisions for breakfast a bit light on we ran out of milk and at the price a proper coffee machine would be good also not enough bowls or cutlery once we used the dishwasher had to wait for clean bowls

Review 42:The setting and layout of the cottage and staff very friendly and helpful

Review 43:We didn't like the fan in the bathroom that made a crazy amount of noise every time the bathroom light was on. It made sitting in the bath not relaxing. The noise coming from the street was loud. Very loud. It stopped about 1am and started again at 5. The bed is very close to the windows looking over the street, and they aren't double glazed which might have helped. The rooms were lovely and clean, but definitely a bit run down. The continental breakfast was just okay. Not great, and certainly should have been better for the amount we paid for the room.

Review 44:We really liked the comfy bed in the Tower Suite, and there was definitely a lot of room (sort of unnecessary for us, as we only slept in the room after a wedding, so didn't take full advantage of the extra space). The hotel has a nice, old feel to it but it definitely shabby around the edges. It might have been grand once but not so much anymore. It's just a country pub with rooms attached. The location is terrific if you have an event at one of the nearby wineries.

Review 45:Room (noisey - but is a pub also), decor (bizarre), & strange restaurant arrangements (order food & drink from separate areas, cannot charge to room etc)

Review 46:Location, food, bar (selection of beer & wine), wifi setup, friendly staff & overall ambiance

Review 47:This was the most beautiful, cosy and enjoyable hotel during my 3 week stay in Australia. Great choice of music and wine. And a rare opportunity to dine among local residents, who chose this hotel's restaurant as their dining or beer place too.

Review 48:We had booked a balloon ride over the Yarra Valley. The Yarra Valley Grand was just across the road from where we all had to meet at 4.45 am. As we are from across the other side of the city, it was easy to come the night before the balloon ride.

Review 49:food could have been better
