Reviews for Dunhill Hotel
Review 1:The hotel seemed dark, a little threadbare. The bathrooms are small. When walking to a local restaurant (Luci) the street people (homeless/panhandlers) were a nuisance. The dining room was depressing.
Review 2:After pre-paying for a room for 3 nights, one would have expected not to be in a room on the first floor on the corner of the two busy streets in the city. Which was disappointing as everything else with the hotel was very good.
Review 3:Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel location was very good.
Review 4:I just wish the rooms were a little bit bigger. Other than that it they had a great time
Review 5:It was a great time and my Inlaws loved seeing Franki Valli across the street. Would recomend for the future.
Review 6:Our room stayed incredibly hot even with thermostat at 60 but we did not report the problem. Bathroom needs venting system as well.
Review 7:Clean, room well stocked, short walk to most places downtown. Comfy beds.
Review 8:Poor drainage in sink and tub. Maintenance was repairing when we checked out. Space was a bit "European " for three adults. View from fourth floor was not good.
Review 9:Staff
Review 10:A bit cold in lounge area
Review 11:A flying trip to Charlotte to ser Stevie Wonder. Hotel perfect location, loved the bar & Pete thr barman looked after us like old friends & instantly worked out our regular order. The bar was a tad cold, needs some heat, but didnt stop us enjoying the vibe. We will return
Review 12:Being charged more than usual due to it being a home Panthers football weekend. Being charged $2.5 for a bottled water. For $300/nite, water should have been gratis.
Review 13:Staff was friendly, cordial, professional as always. This has been a favorite getaway spot for late nights in Charlotte for years. Can't beat the location.
Review 14:Storage in the bathroom. No place to put personal items on the sink and thus in easy reach. A shelves be would be great.
Review 15:The location is stellar, the staff very helpful and unfailingly polite and the charm of staying in a historic hotel cannot be beat and if that was not enough, the weekend brunch rocks!
Review 16:No issues.
Review 17:Closeness to our anniversary dinner, next door at Capital Grill. Room just right. Bathroom and accessories perfect. Third party requested gift to be delivered to room, and was handled perfectly.
Review 18:The walls are a little thin, so you might get to know your neighbors a little more intimately than you'd hoped to LOL... its an old building
Review 19:I love visiting hotels that have a historical and unique flair to them. The staff is fantastic and the piano bar in the front lobby is very relaxing, right in the heart of downtown Charlotte.
Review 20:for a classic old British stile hotel we were expecting a rich British breakfast, but we only found a very limited and poor American breakfast
Review 21:location, comfort and stile are perfect
Review 22:The next day after we arrived, the cleaning people didn't come until after 4 pm when we were already back in the room for a nap. We had told the front staff at 11 am that we were going out and the room was ready to be cleaned. On check out day, housekeeping came at 10 and we weren't checking out until 11. Price for such a small room seems very high. No ice supply on floor for a cool drink either.
Review 23:Friendliness of staff.
Review 24:Has nothing to do with hotel itself but some people that stay in hotels need to be aware that they are not the only one's in the hotel. On 10th floor, other guests would let door to their room slam instead of letting it close quietly early in the morning.
Review 25:Everything from courtious staff to comfortable bed. Excellent view. I wish we had more than one night. Hotel is surronded by excellent restaurants. We would definately come back.
Review 26:A/C didn't work and the room was like a sauna. Sitting outside the restaurant we had two different vagrants walk up to ask for a hand out. Then we watched the guy across the street urinate on the wall and then go to sleep in the park.
Review 27:The staff and hotel were great.
Review 28:Old fashion look yet mix with modern emenities!Rooms Could've been a little bigger but staff great. Had a problem with my card, they were patient and very willing!
Review 29:First of all valet parking and assistance with luggage was horrible/ non existent. We could not sleep because it stayed between 74-72 degrees ! Sweating and tossing and turning all night. They removed $25 parking fee to make up for our troubles. When asked I told of this and she said " yeah several folks had said the same thing " What ?
Review 30:Location
Review 31:The staff is probably the best we have experienced at any other property! They go out of their way to make your stay exceptional. While this is an historic building, everything is maintained, beautiful, and comfortable. Also, Pete is the best bartender ever!! We will be back soon!
Review 32:I think the restaurant on site was overpriced for the quality and amount. The breakfast that came with the room was very good, not your normal cheap breakfast.
Review 33:The historic feel and location of resaurants
Review 34:N/A
Review 35:The Staff was incredibly friendly and always willing to help with all of our needs. The ambiance was very warm and inviting.location was key for walkability to nearby attractions and eateries. We will definitely book at Dunhill if/when we visit Charlotte again. WSMFP GREAT PLACE
Review 36:No vending, terrible plumbing (shower backed up every single time), no ventilation in bathroom, snotty staff, was promised complimentary snacks and sodas and then no follow through, no room service, very rude about check out...basically shut our key off while we were packing, felt incredibly rushed and unwelcome, very small rooms with bulky furniture, parking is NOT free...not worth the money. Would not recommend staying here.
Review 37:Location was really the only thing going for this hotel..and they offered free shuttle service for drop off only downtown.
Review 38:Went to breakfast at 9:30 and they were out of food at the buffet, but we were able to get a cup of coffee to go.
Review 39:Very friendly staff and beautiful room. Would absolutely come back.
Review 40:service was very good and they really try to make your stay pleasant Unfurtunately we stayed for a short tiem and coud not enjoy as mucha as we would have liked beds are great and rooms very clean
Review 41:We were on 8th flor but street noise was unbearable. Sirens going until 4am. Only after that did we get any sleep. They need to spend money and get high quality double glazing like the airport hotels.
Review 42:We found nothing to dislike.
Review 43:Courteous staff and attention to detail, location, cleanliness and comfort and parking. The welcome on arrival, swift check in, the ambiance of the building. The friendliness of the bar waitress, her concern about the journey we had ahead, stranger's to the U.S., driving on the opp.side of the road, even emailed us to see we arrived safely. Would recommend the Dunhill Hotel to anyone.
Review 44:Breakfast could have been nicer for the amount of money paid.food items were very low, including yogurt, fresh fruit, etc
Review 45:The staff were friendly and helpful
Review 46:My wife and I were there for a business conference and had a great time. The Dunhill is located in the heart of Charlotte, within 10 minutes walking distance to the Conference Center. In many ways it's a step back to the past in terms of luxury and feel but has all the modern accommodations, including WiFi, and a guest PC and printer in the lobby. They deliver the daily newspaper, soft drinks and water each morning and chocolate at night. (Each room has a mini fridge.) What more can one ask for? Really, top flight hotel.
Review 47:Air conditioning much too nosy in room. Breakfast was a bit poor and dissapointing. Coffee was like black water. Staff in breakfast room was very slow and did not fill up right away
Review 48:Nice location, helpfull and very nice staff in reception. Wifi worked well and room was big and very nice. Good and confortable bed.
Review 49:I would highly recommend the Dunhill it is a wonderful hotel everyone is very pleasant there especially the bartender he is very good at his job made stay feel like u are home
Review 50:My only complaint is that you could hear every thing going on in the hall outside our room. The walls seem very thin. Also, for the price it would have been nice to have a larger tub,and bigger bathroom.
Review 51:The bed was fabulous, and the hotel is one of the cleanest I've ever been in. The staff was very nice and helpful. Also, the location is great.
Review 52:The only negative is that they are undergoing renovations in the lobby area the month of August.
Review 53:The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to make our anniversary special.
Review 54:Everything was magnificent.
Review 55:The concierge did an exceptional job of making us feel at home in our new city and even made a reservation for us. We felt very welcomed and at home. The staff was friendly and the rooms were beautiful, as was the entire hotel. We are considering moving to Charlotte after this trip and the positive experiences here partly influenced that decision.
Review 56:Illuminated thermostat kept me up all night, even with a makeshift cover I used of a washcloth. Tiny bathroom, very tiny. The meeting room where continental breakfast was served was also too small. We could not have breakfast in there, had to find other options.
Review 57:Great location. Staff was friendly.
Review 58:We stayed two nights one at the beginning and one at the end of our trip to NC. The first room we had was very nice, spacious and had a good sized light bathroom with a street view, the second time we stayed we had a room that looked out on to the ac units for the whole hotel with a tiny bathroom with no windows which was noisy and not so nice.
Review 59:The front desk staff were very good. Very helpful as far as recommending local dining spots.
Review 60:The parking was the only downside. I realise that it is in a prime location and therefore can't have it's own parking facility. However for the amount being spent on a stay there should at least be some discount on the parking rate, 50% for guests?? That's my only complaint.
Review 61:I loved the Dunhill from the minute we arrived. The staff at the front desk were exceptional. We were made to feel special and important. The room was amazing, a huge bed and massive en suite. The location was just right, allowing us a view of downtown Charlotte. We were in walking distance of lots of restaurants and shops. Ideal location.
Review 62:I just stayed for one night
Review 63:Great location, great room, great staff... The best hotel of my trip! The staff was very attencious in my needs, self parking right behind the hotel, big room and great bathroom... Just a great city too...
Review 64:"Uptown" atmosphere in downtown Charlotte, within walking distance of green spaces and great restaurants. Comfortable and quiet rooms, friendly and courteous staff. Will definitely stay here again.
Review 65:What is there not to like? I guess I'd rather pay less but it was worth it.
Review 66:It is a beautiful hotel with a warm ambiance in a great central location. The restaurant is superb and the breakfast is to die for. The little bar in the lobby is friendly and relaxing. Charlotte is a beautiful city.
Review 67:Room was a little small for the cost
Review 68:Nice decor, bar, and bathrooms
Review 69:Nice staff, nice room and great location
Review 70:the overall ambiance of the hotel. And your bartender Pete was excellent. Great service.
Review 71:The hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. The rooms were comfortable but small. The hotel was greatly over priced.
Review 72:Room rates too high. Plus additional parking fees. Plus breakfast fees
Review 73:Great location. Friendly staff members. Clean and comfortable accommodations
Review 74:The bed is way too soft.
Review 75:Lovely setting and room. Restaurant was excellent. Great place for a 45th anniversary.
Review 76:nothing
Review 77:friendly, great location
Review 78:Nothing
Review 79:Evertthing
Review 80:Bathroom
Review 81:Location, restaurant,,staff
Review 82:There was no microwave in the room! Only downfall
Review 83:The hotel was awesome the pillows and bed were super comfy after a really long and tiring day.
Review 84:breakfast. generally weak for the price, no personnel availabe. some personnel hardly spoke English. no gluten free options!
Review 85:facilities, bed, location
Review 86:The breakfast needs to be updated. Just put out more normal continental breakfast please. Some eggs. Bacon. Nothing fancy needed
Review 87:Excellent location
Review 88:the breakfast is a cold buffet which by British standards was disappointing
Review 89:Good location for Downtown, welcoming staff and a nice buzz in the bar
Review 90:Very positive experience
Review 91:Helpful, friendly staff and very comfortable bed and room ☺️
Review 92:Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Review 93:Friendly staff
Review 94:Room was dark; bathroom had no counter space; "breakfast" was terrible.
Review 95:Location was great and staff was very good.
Review 96:It was so close to the Blumenthal Theatre. We loved being downtown within walking distance of great places.
Review 97:Wifi was very slow and could not use it. The room service ends at 10.00
Review 98:Nice classy hotel with comfy beds
Review 99:Proximity to museums, epicenter, restaurants, theater; excellent breakfast
Review 100:staff was wonderful!
Review 101:comfort of room, on site restaurant, noise
Review 102:location
Review 103:Customer service very good. friendly staff. good restaurant
Review 104:The furnishings are a bit worn and old. Time for a refresh.
Review 105:Toaster needs replacing in dining room- small issue but time wasting when in a hurry,
Review 106:Staff very helpful and friendly. Good location
Review 107:garage parking cost
Review 108:Pillows and soft bed
Review 109:A/C is too loud
Review 110:Comfortable bed, very friendly staff
Review 111:It was in what seemed to be the business district of the city and so no shops!
Review 112:Character and comfort of the hotel, also valet parking!
Review 113:Nothing. Everything was top of the pops.
Review 114:Historic Comfortable Service
Review 115:Nothing!
Review 116:You couldn't ask for anything any better . Great Staff, so helpful . Room was very nice . Just a wonderful stay !
Review 117:Closet space too small; not enough drawer space for 2 people
Review 118:Staff, shuttle service, breakfast, all water and soft drinks free; free wi-fi; shower
Review 119:Everything was great from the front desk to maintence and housekeeping staff. The room was comfortable and classic. Absolutely loved it.
Review 120:No complaints
Review 121:It was a very quite and cozy astomphere. Service friendly and helpful with all and any question we haf
Review 122:The very small servings at breakfast - choose carefully what you order.
Review 123:Small and very comfortable hotel with friendly staff and great location close to restaurants and attractions right in the downtown area. I'd definitely choose the Dunhill again.
Review 124:Bed was very soft and unsupportive. Room A/C could not adequately cool the room on an early June day. Bathroom had no fan and no A/C. Windows were old so the street noise was significant. Not worth the cost. We left early for a more comfortable hotel.
Review 125:Good breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
Review 126:This has nothing to do with the hotel or staff, but on Sunday we got back late from the NASCAR race. We used our key card to enter the hotel, and out of the blue a suspicious man followed us in. We couldn't assume he wasn't guest, but that suspicioius person walked over to your security guard sitting in a chair by the bar window. It was just unsettling and we kept up our personal guard and made sure he did not get on the elevator with us.
Review 127:The uniqueness of the property, and the story of it; the central location, the staff. Also the restaurant was excellent.
