Reviews for Orangewood Inn and Suites

Review 1:No complaints, Neighborhood isn't the greatest but what can you do

Review 2:Hotel staff is very helpful Hotel is well maintained Great price! Cheaper on hotels site though... Room is clean, and comfortable Felt safe and secure even though it's not the greatest part of town.

Review 3:Location North is a bit away from it all. I-35 we found often congested. Limited number of dining places in immediate area.

Review 4:Nice room, good breakfast buffet. Good value for money.

Review 5:Had a problem with a leaking AC unit - maybe water coming from outside, since it was raining a lot. They took care of it and got the carpet dry. Problem solved. In Austin, you can't get acomodation near downtown without paying maybe 4x the price. So, you ll need a car for everything. Wifi is very unstable, maybe because of the rain.

Review 6:Unlike most roadside hotels, there´s a door and a hallway separating rooms from the parking lot. Feels safer. Good breakfast, with cereals, belgian waffles, donuts and scrambled eggs.

Review 7:For starters, the area in which the hotel is located, is a not so goodneighborhood. When checking in, we were required to pay a $50 deposit inaddition to the room rate. It wasn't until after the transactionthat the clerk said that we wouldnt receive the deposit back for up to 3business days. &Quot; We should've left being that this is now strike3, but it was late and we had been traveling for the last 4 hours with atoddler. Anyhow, there was a terrible smell in every area of the hotel.(Hallways, elevator, guest room etc.) We received random phone calls frompeople we didn't know and last but not least, with several attempts, someone tried entering our room. I had a terrible nights sleep for thisreason. I thought they offered a nice variety of breakfast items, butthey didn't allow you to take your breakfast to your room, soneedless to say, I didn't eat. Sorry, I'm unable to rate thefood. Finally, I went to return the room key (card) to the front deskand the clerk never took her eyes off the computer screen as I handed itto her. She never asked me how was my stay, nor did she thank me forstaying at their hotel or even invited us back. I guess I don'treally need to say, "I will never stay at this location again and Iwill not be referring anyone else for that matter.

Review 8:Not only did the manager and staff violate my rights under the Public Accommodations clause of the Americans with Disabilities Act but also they did not know what ADA is and they refused to look up available information on the internet about it.

Review 9:A very clean comfort facility.

Review 10:The staff was nice, the room was pretty good the bed was sooooo comfortable me and my husband did not want to leave. Complementary breakfast was good too. Will defiantly be coming back.

Review 11:The front desk staff was helpful and polite. What a wonderful way to start my stay! The value is outstanding. My room was tastefully decorated and close to the downtown business district. Breakfast just another bonus. Looking forward to my next stay at Orangewood.

Review 12:Cleaning staff is loud when talking to each other in the morning; solid surface hallways increase noise (cleaning carts, heeled shoes, luggage, etc)

Review 13:Good value; clean; free breakfast; good location; friendly staff

Review 14:We were over for the F1 so the location was ideal, taking us about 30 minutes without race day traffic and not much more with. The free breakfast also had a very good selection and even when turning up close to closing, there was still a fair choice.

Review 15:Nothing!

Review 16:The beds are amazingly comfy and the rooms very spacious! (2 girlswith large suitcases spacious!) It's right on the I-35 too sovery accessible! Reception were very accommodating ordering us taxisto cota! It was cheaper to get a taxi to the circuit, than getting ataxi to downtown and then paying for the cota bus! Breakfast wasnice, self serve but is the same everyday so can get a little dullafter a few days!

Review 17:the pool was closed but there was terrible weather for many days

Review 18:even though it was not in downtown austin there were always taxis available , the hotels breakfast was outstading eggs coffee cereals a real full buffet rooms and hall very clean and clientele were decent people value A+

Review 19:Our room wasn't ready, and it seemed like they were trying not to give it to us. When we refused to trade, the room was ready in 5 minutes. Also, the bathroom needs updating.

Review 20:The hotel was clean, had nice big rooms with mini fridge and microwave. The free breakfast was nice with good selection of food.

Review 21:I found roaches in the room that I was staying in. and there was lots of noise from other guest that kept me awake all night.. Very bad stay

Review 22:I loved leaving the next morning.

Review 23:The outside of the building and the decor and the overall look of the hotel looks old and rundown. Does not look like it did online. I felt like I was tricked or something. Looks outdated.

Review 24:I liked the bed. I liked the soap it was really moisturizing.

Review 25:Honestly, the building looked nothing like the picture. Right away I knew we had made a mistake in choosing this place, but because we had already paid through this site and we were checking in late at night, there was nothing we could do about it. Further, despite being mostly nonsmoking, the hallway smelled absolutely horrible. Fortunately the room didn't smell quite as bad. But this place needs a top-to-bottom makeover to get the smell out. The hotel looks and feels low-rent, totally different than the look of the place on the website. Walls are paper-thin. I was also surprised to discover that it's really a franchise and not a company-owned and -operated hotel. This is basically a motel that looks like a hotel, cheap in almost every way. Finally, the breakfast offered was bad, and the water pressure in the shower was very weak. Overall would never go to another Orangewood if I can help it.

Review 26:The room itself was fine despite the shower (see above). The bed was comfortable.

Review 27:Nothing to complain about at all.

Review 28:The room was nice and clean, the deco was nice and the bathroom was nice too. Breakfast is good, even though the warm options are eggs, sausage and waffles, which is ok for me. Staff was friendly.

Review 29:I hated the way I was greeted. They had me running around looking for a room cause they didn't tell me where it was located. Then the next day my card stopped working so I had to go get it filled we stayed in a non smoking room but it smelled like smoke

Review 30:How close it was to places

Review 31:The room was dark and quiet at night and so I slept very comfortably. Air conditioning meant I could keep it at a good temperature for sleeping. That's all I really wanted!

Review 32:We had a non-smoking room but it must have been smoking recently as the room and corridors smelled of cigarette smoke. There was noise from the traffic and the air conditioning unit.

Review 33:The reception staff were very helpful. The pool was nice.

Review 34:Old rooms and corridors in 1st floor. Strong tobacco smell in thecorridors. Smell in the rooms, not sure what type of. Not wellmaintained. There was hair in the bathtub. There was a stain in the bedsheets. Not sure if it's worth $73/night.

Review 35:Breakfast wasn't bad. Ground floor clean and pretty new.

Review 36:Not a bad experience. Your breakfast staff was great. We stayed there three nights. Each morning those eggs were just not good. Possibly some bacon as a second choice.

Review 37:Location & Price

Review 38:Our room # 102 was next to the electrical room and we heard a "perking" noise every 6 seconds all night long

Review 39:Staff was friendly, rooms were very clean

Review 40:The only thing I could point out is the breakfast. Most people would most likely love it, they have fresh donuts, good coffee, waffle station and fresh fruit and yogurt. It was just the cooked selection that bothored me, especially the eggs.. They seemed not real if that makes any sense, but in total great breakfast, much better than most places in this price range.

Review 41:Staff was really amazing and super helpful. Great pool outside and the rooms are very nice and cozy!

Review 42:The carpeting smells old, but then it probably is old. The room smells funny like that too.

Review 43:Staff SUPER SWEET! The ladies who helped with breakfast and the housekeepers were both very nice. Good pool.Overall good experience.

Review 44:This is a nice facility. Clean rooms. The appliances work and are in good shape. Nice lil pool area. Clean lobby and hallways. Ice and vending. I like!

Review 45:It isn't the nicest hotel around, but you get more than you pay for.

Review 46:The breakfast was awesome, and the stay was really inexpensive. It was better than a lot of the other similarly priced motels in the area.

Review 47:Terrible smell in room. A lot of noise during our stay. Their employees began to clean the other rooms from 6:00am!!! They were pushing a cleaning cart from 6am to 10am all the time, which made a lot of noise and woke almost everybody up.Bad experience and never again.

Review 48:Actually not any

Review 49:Didn't like the fact that I reserved the hotel with my credit/debit card and when I go to check in receptionist said that they didnt take my card! And said there was additional $50 charge until check out!

Review 50:For an average hotel (not a business-class) The pool was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was really good. Wifi was reliable, but not superfast. I liked the tile in the hallway, it added class. Old fashioned wall air conditioner was actually quiet.

Review 51:It was somewhat outdated. The walls have wear and tear, they look a bit dirty.

Review 52:It smells very good when you walk into the reception area. We enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable. The receptionist was friendly. Most importantly the price was excellent!!

Review 53:we didnt like the size of the spaces in the parking lot, very cramped. The second floor smelled like smoke as where the first smelled like laundry.

Review 54:We enjoyed the pool, the room was big and comfortable, breakfast was hot and plentiful, and the staff was very nice.

Review 55:There was a strong odor of cigarette smoke in the hallways. Appearance of hallways was dark and unwelcoming. A lot of the other guests were older aged men who were disrespectful to my partner and I. When we went to the ice machines there was a big mess and a bunch of coolers and empty beer boxes scattered. It didn't feel like a safe environment. The parking was a mess.

Review 56:The room cleanliness was very nice. The staff was helpful and courteous. The breakfast was not bad. Too bad guests made the experience unpleasant. Hotel does need some interior upgrades and better lighting.

Review 57:The guy at the front desk seems over worked. He was there 3 out of 4times I stayed...while Checking in and Checking out... Not the mosthelpful, maybe because I have a beard or my last name is Mohammed ormaybe I smelled idk :)... either way, I am a paying customer and Iexpect more professionalism. Also, I think the religious art hanging onthe wall can be replaced with the standard hotel art.

Review 58:Everything else is good for the price. The sweet spot for mewould've been $39... I have stayed in Intown Suites for 2 weeks andvarious other places for 2 weeks... So Orangewood could've had 3.5weeks of my business but the front desk said multiple times that therewas no discount for weekly stays.

Review 59:Your survey is not correct in there calculation as they gave this placea overall score of 2.5. I would give this place a big zero. Location-poor Cleanliness-poor Customer service-poor This place smelled awfulfrom the moment I walked into the door at the front desk. There was moldgrowing in the bathroom, in the shower, the ceiling, and all around thebaseboards. When I expressed that I was not satisfied and explained whyand requested a refund. I was denied. When I asked to speak with amanager I was told he was not there and they refused call to consultwith him, and that he would be there the next day. I explained I neededthe money to get another room the hotel staff member she told me againthat I would have to wait to see the manager the next day. By this timeI had already called booking.com and they also tried to negotiate withthe hotel to refund me. Staff member had agreed on the phone to allow meto look at another room. When I went to the front desk to do this I wasconfronted by staff member "Claire" who told me "First ofall you need to apologize for saying the room stunk". I theninformed her that I would not apologize for telling the truth. She thenbecame upset and verbally agressive saying that it would do no good toshow me another room because I wouldn't like it any better. I toldher I would like to see another room to see if it was better. Her reply"hell no I'm not showing you a damn thing". She continuedto to refuse me service and asking me to leave. During this verbal sparClaire continued to use foul language and yell that I needed to"just leave". I then went back to the room and then called mycredit card company to see if they could dispute this charge. They toocalled the Hotel staff while I was on the line and requested aconference call with me and them.

Review 60:There was nothing I liked until I finally was able to reach the managerthe next day and he agreed to refund my money.

Review 61:Had some workers smoking right out side the entrance door. Had to walk through smoke to enter.

Review 62:One of the nicest places we've stayed at. The beds were very comfortable, the breakfast delicious and the staff friendly.

Review 63:everything is outdated bed was in bad shape, not comfortable at all had itchy feeling throughout the night ac filter seems to have not been changed for thousands of years!

Review 64:good staff better breakfast than other similar hotels in same price range

Review 65:Staff was extremely helpful. Facilities are updated. New microwave and refrigerator in room. Nice pool on premises. Surpassed our expectations. Less than 10 minutes from the downtown area. Great manager who oversees the daily running of everything. Most attentive to the clientele. Would highly recommend this place. We stayed a week, but would say that a shorter stay would get the same fine treatment.

Review 66:When ordering towels to be brought up to the room was advise that was not possible not enough staff. I sent my daughter down and she advised me that there were two people down stairs in the reception area. One of the two should have been able to bring the towels up, takes only about two minutes. And not only that but I was charge an early arrival fee when I was not able to check in until after 4:00 PM. First time here will not be checking in again.

Review 67:It was a clean place.

Review 68:The only thing is breakfast ends too early, would like to see it end at 11am,

Review 69:I like the location, the staff very friendly and the comfort of the room.

Review 70:The photos was not same room .. in booking shown there is a separate living room! But in reality there is not .. it's just single room .. the living room is merged with this room there is no parking! It was 20$ for a day! our first day .. the elevator was Out of order! That's means we took up our luggage (alot of big bags) through the stairs to 4th floor!!

Review 71:Location .. the fairness .. Provide all what we need.

Review 72:It was just really run down feeling. I would have liked a mini fridge in the room as well. It kind of had an old hotel smell. Sorry... :(

Review 73:The people

Review 74:I wish I could've taken my dog. That was the main downfall.

Review 75:I did like the room. It seemed like it would be a little outdated but overall I did like.

Review 76:Hotel itself looks nice, but I could not sleep because in the next room suspicious activities (prostitutes??) took place and I felt unsafe. The hall was very noisy until 7 a.m. (knocking on the door, noises, elevators, doors, horns), I had a very bad feeling. I do not recommend it. There is a security watching the parking lot-why?!

Review 77:Breakfast

Review 78:The room smelled of bleach all the time, comforters show wear and (lots of) tear, bathroom sink isn't cleaned well and got looked like molds on the ceiling. Parking is cramped and narrow. Lady receptionist needs to be friendly and not act like we wasted her time.

Review 79:The problems were with the management of this property! First, because of the flooding in my city (that made national news) the day before I was to leave, I tried to cancel my reservations without penalty. The woman with Booking.com sincerly pleaded my case, but the management was not yielding. Sat. The first night was manageable, though it was noisy. The full hot breakfast was not served in sufficient amounts to accomidate the guests without a wait. Sunday night (befor Memorial Day) too many problems to name all, we heard breaking glass in the room beside us due to power outage from the storms. The next morn, you could hear very foul language being exchange between a male manager and one of the female maids. He was rushing her to finish cleaning the room. Though it was Memorial Day, we missed the "hot breakfast" because, it was Monday and they only serve it until 9: am, instead of 10:00 as we were verbally told at check in! When I asked to speak with management, I was told they weren't sure when he would arrive, it was 9:20 at that time. Had to wonder who was cussing at the maid staff!!

Review 80:The young man who tended the front desk, the maintainance man, and the young woman who had been in the car accident at the front desk were solemn but friendly. I travel often and appreciate how they handled my needs to the best of their abilities.

Review 81:We went for a four day stay, we were locked out of our rooms everyday. There was only one way in and one way out of this location. So every time we left the hotel, we had to go around the highway to come back to go right down the street. They had water bugs.

Review 82:This was within 15 minutes of everywhere we went to visit while in Austin. The beds were clean and the cleaning people never touch any of our personal items left out.

Review 83:The water pressure was very weak. The toilet seat was loose. And the pillows were very lumpy. Also all the hallways smelled very stale like it used to be a smoking hotel but changed to nonsmoking.

Review 84:It was obvious they had tried to update the hotel In the past couple years, which was good. But it does still need some updating. The breakfast was good and the staff was nice. The bed was also pretty comfortable.

Review 85:The light above the shower had a timer and if I wasn't out in a certain amount of time the lights would cut out.

Review 86:Big spacy King size room, loved that it had a iron and blow dryer those came in handy with my stay. Awesome wifi and good tv services.

Review 87:The hotel was a quick taxi cab ride to 6th street. The hotel was clean, beds were comfortable, the breakfast was very good love the waffle machine, and the staff was very nice and helpful. We would stay again, just wish it was a little closer to 6th street. We all love Austin.

Review 88:The only chair in the room was an office chair. There was plenty of room for an upholstered chair and it would have been nice for both of us to have been able to sit somewhere besides the bed.

Review 89:Breakfast bar was ok. Bathroom and bedding and furnishings were very nice.

Review 90:The elevator was slow so we used the stairs. I wish the desk chair would have leaned back because sometimes the only way I can sleep is sitting up.

Review 91:Check-in was quick and efficient. The room was clean and very nice. I enjoyed the free breakfast each morning including sausage and eggs. I will definitely stay again.

Review 92:Modern, quiet, comfortable room. Decent hot breakfast but other guests made it less enjoyable. Management worked with me on modifying booking at last minute due to change of plans.

Review 93:Bathroom is bad. Beds are reasonable. Noise from the highway. Low cost-benefit. Not close to downtown, you have to take the highway and pray for not getting stuck in traffic. Staff not that friendly.

Review 94:Easy to find. Close to a restaurant. Not smelling smoke.Breakfast was ok.

Review 95:Thought the towels were rough and small... but overall they got the job done!!!

Review 96:The staff was amazing and did everything in their power to accommodate all our needs! We had some issues with one room booked, but they went out of their way in a fully booked state, to accommodate us to our satisfaction

Review 97:They missed one day (Monday) and forgot to clean our room, but the staff was quick to get us fresh towels so it was nothing major.

Review 98:Great breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 99:I booked a room with a king bed online and when I got there I got 2 twin beds...and the hotel was fully booked so they couldn't change it or were not interested...in trying to fix it any way.

Review 100:I liked how easy it was to find.I liked the entrance area.I liked the room service option ...even though I didn't use it

Review 101:Bad smell everywhere, poor breakfast, uncomfortable bed, old bathroom, room not properly clean, impossible to reach downtown in less than 40 minutes because the interstate is always blocked with traffic... And all this for an amazingly high price (First weekend of the SXSW, but still way too much for what the hotel offers).

Review 102:Friendly staff and large parking

Review 103:The continental breakfast was just ok. Would have preferred a few fresher items or more than just oranges as a fruit option.

Review 104:The staff was friendly, hotel cleaned constantly by staff, and when a problem guest acted out, the management was swift to take action to remove the problem.

Review 105:Not too far, but not too close either. About 30 min from SoCo with traffic, but nothing too annoying. Clean room, friendly staff, and if you're literally only going to be sleeping there like we did, I definitely recommend it.

Review 106:I booked this hotel for a business trip, the first room that we got it had hair all over the bed and the bathroom was dirty; the second room the door didn't lock and we asked for non smoking but the entire hallway smelled like smoke. Also the outside of the hotel looked dirty and people were doing mechanic work in the parking lot the hotel needs some improvements it looks outdated.

Review 107:The staff were helpful and frienfly, they understood our concerns and tried to help us they also gave us a refund since we didn't stay at the hotel they only charged us for one night even though we didn't stay.

Review 108:there is some smell in a pillow, but there are 4, so I just need 1. don't matter.

Review 109:wifi is pending, when i just arrived at afternoon, it's so good. but till night, it's slowing down maybe because more people using it. room is clean. parking is easy. there are ice-machine, vending, microwave oven in breakfast room. breakfast is simply but enough. easy to highway.

Review 110:the rooms are not sound effective. you can hear the TV's from the other rooms and voices too.

Review 111:breakfast was great, rooms clean, staff friendly, great location for us.

Review 112:Hallways reeked of cigarette smoke, especially by the elevators...it was persistent for our entire 3 day stay! Room is basic...bath is old and run down.

Review 113:King bed was comfy Parking was easy Front desk staff was friendly

Review 114:Roaches no fridge microwave tiny vanity in restroom. Staff cook told front desk as I needed to eat the breakfast in my car it was aloowed to be taken out

Review 115:King bed

Review 116:Room was a bit gloomy. Hotel is outdated and could use a facelift.

Review 117:Was located near lots of food options and was a quick ride over to UT Austin. The breakfast was pretty good and the WiFi was fast. Lots of parking and helpful staff. I would stay here again.

Review 118:I don't like that we have to eat breakfast at the designated area .and no food is allowed to take out . My. Daughter just wanted juice and a fruit and was told to eat in the breakfast area. And then it's like if they just stalking you to see what you are eating

Review 119:Big beds, fridge, microwave

Review 120:We arrived at the room in the middle of a storm, checked in, went to the room and a fan sitting on the "sitting" chair where it was all wet and towels on the window sill soaking wet from the rain. Checked in after 3 and staff entered room without knocking.

Review 121:The staff was nice and courteous

Review 122:When I read the reviews it said pet free location. Well, imagine my surprise when I heard a dog bark which proceeded with several other dogs barking. I was exhausted and was told when I went to the front desk that there was a dog show in town and they are "normally" pet free however due to the show they were booked with dog owners. It was too late as I had a 6 am flight to switch hotels however I was very dissatisfied and when I asked the front desk to adjust my bill they said I need to speak with the manager and he would not be in until 1 pm the following day! NEVER stay here again!

Review 123:There were a couple of bugs in my room. Seemed to be like small roaches. I was scared the rest of my stay that I'd find more.

Review 124:I like how they have a fridge and microwave. Free breakfast and wifi and the beds were pretty decent.

Review 125:It may be picky, but I tried to watch a basketball game on ESPN3 with my laptop, but the server kept freezing up and I'd have to reload the game.

Review 126:Excellent price through Booking.com. Great service from the staff. Room was quiet and comfortable on a night that was blustery and cold. The breakfast was typical for motels with significantly higher costs.

Review 127:My check in experience was ok. the hotel is sort of dark and old, but the bed linens looked ok. Then I found a bedbug. If you have ever had bedbug infestation before, you know how uncomfortable and expensive these creatures are. While I did not get any bites, I am still worried that I may have tracked bedbugs home with me.

Review 128:The outside did not match the inside as far as appearance, and it was in a weird spot as far as exits are concerned.

Review 129:The room looked a lot better than expected. Nice, comfortable bed.

Review 130:Nothing really to mention

Review 131:The room was comfortable, breakfast was awesome. Neighbors were a little loud but it was manageable. Over all I had a great experience and would love to go again:)

Review 132:My only concern was the area has been known for drugs and and high crime but over all was a very comfortable stay for me and my family.

Review 133:The staff and service was exceptional. The breakfast was hot as well as good. Its an older hotel but cleanliness was up to part.

Review 134:Excellent rates, very nice staff and welcoming to out-of-towners. Hot breakfast every morning with yummy coffee. We were not picky but we were very surprised with how well everything was with our stay.
