Reviews for Red Coach Inn
Review 1:We have visited the Red Coach for 20 years. This last experience was negatively affected by obvious cuts in the operation. I was particularly displeased with the 5% gratuity for housekeeping added to your bill. We stayed two nights. The second day, the housekeeper literally spent less than 5 minutes in our suite. She arrived only after two calls to the front desk. If there is a next time that I stay here, I will be tempted to reserve a different room for each night of the stay. At least then, they will earn their 5% of the total bill gratuity. Given that only four rooms were occupied on one of the nights that we stayed there, the pricing for this facility in the winter is way out of line. The last thing that irritated me was the fact that our dinner bill contained a $1 surcharge because I changed the sides that accompanied my steak. A dollar isn't much but come on. Really.
Review 2:The location along the Niagara River immediately upstream from the American Falls. The Inn itself is magnificent. The restaurant is gorgeous and the free breakfast allows you to order anything that you want off a fantastic menu.
Review 3:The only thing I would say that was somewhat negative was the food was not very hot when we ate at the restaurant. It tasted very good but just wasn't hot. Plus they had ran out of a few things on the menu we wanted to try.
Review 4:The Inn was beautiful and the location was great. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very nice and clean..
Review 5:Could have been a little cleaner in the commons areas. Would have liked a larger lobby area to lounge in.
Review 6:The staff, the soaking tub and the location were excellent.
Review 7:Well breakfast would've been great but a party had requested the room in the back so our food was cold because our server was catering to the group having the party... so I had to get up and ask another server to warm up my friends food
Review 8:The coziness of the room and staff was pleasant and the locality was great with the exception of construction outside.
Review 9:My rooms were not cleaned during our stay. Furniture outdated, beds a little uncomfortable.
Review 10:Staff friendly and responsive when asked for assistance. Shouldn't have needed to ask, however.
Review 11:The room smelled like dust. There was a layer of dust underneath the glass dresser top. Robes were stained. The room was very small and very expensive for what it was. Nobody mentioned the massive construction site right in front of the hotel.
Review 12:Breakfast was phenomenal. And the staff was very helpful and nice.
Review 13:No easy access to room through hotel from parking lot. Historic decor seemed tired, needed a refresh. Road construction between inn and view on Robert Moseley.
Review 14:Excellent food! Even our breakfast included full services and a variety of dishes. Loved the quiet location and view of the Rapids. Easy walk to the falls, park, and island.
Review 15:Loved the location. You can walk to the Maid of the Mist. Also, the staff was wonderful. They were very helpful with helping us plan our day. The breakfast was phenomenal.
Review 16:Restaurant ran out of basics- croissants, granola, grape jelly. Maid did not close our door after cleaning. Had to walk outside to get to restaurant. Would not have been a problem, but it rained!!
Review 17:Our room was quaint, very quiet and comfortable, good lighting and bed was very comfortable. Parking was very close.
Review 18:Just two suggestions, not criticisms I informed the hotel that there were three of us and the rook was setup for two, this was an upgrade on their part but there was such a high level of service this was just a little lapse the other point also is minor but such care is given to checking in a guest that we had to wait several minutes for the desk attendant to take care of us, just do some streamlining
Review 19:I was traveling with a princess from India who owns a palace heritage hotel and we loved the hotel and I just learned about it by accident on the internet
Review 20:Nothing to do with the Inn, the USA side of the Falls ,always seems to be under construction and never done. The Niagra US side is very depressing and run down looking.
Review 21:Location to Falls
Review 22:Cost was too high, parking was an issue, window blind not working properly, and poor lighting over refrigerator area. A designated wet bar or kitchenette would be nice verses a coffee machine sitting on top of a small refrigerator. Again, these comments are in contrast with a 400 dollar a night charge.
Review 23:Nothing
Review 24:Every thing is just amazing the location just very close to Niagara falls , the stuff are very friendly and helpful. they have a very good restaurant .. unique style of rooms and furniture . ..
Review 25:ceiling was leaking water from AC when we checked in. Not commensurate with the amount of money we paid for this place
Review 26:Location cannot be better, breakfast was great
Review 27:immediate local neighborhood is a bit tired but safe, not same quality as this hotel - but the proximity to the falls and the park is fabulous.
Review 28:beautifully decorated and clean rooms in a historic building. Full menu breakfast included and proximity to the falls cannot be beat! Never heard our neighbors, just the falls when our windows were open.
Review 29:The wedding planner sucked she did things the way she wanted to not what the couple wanted. They had none of the food they wanted smh. And the cake was not what they ordered. Her excuse was she never worked with a young couple before. Smh
Review 30:The room was really nice. The workers were very polite.
Review 31:There was nothing I didn't like about the Red Coach Inn. It was a lovely place.
Review 32:Loved the decor, staff was very friendly. The free breakfast was delicious. The bartender Jackie was great to talk to and the waitress Sarah was very professional, friendly and helpful. As for location, atmosphere, courteous and professional staff this was the best place we have stayed in. Loved the cheese tray & wine that we were greeted with in our room. And other amenities that were provided.
Review 33:We loved the friendliness of the staff, they were amazing. Nothing was a problem. We needed an early morning cab to take us to the Amtrak station. This was before breakfast so the staff organised a hamper to take away for breakfast. We loved the decor and comfort of the London room we felt at home.
Review 34:We had a bad experience in the restaurant at dinner one evening and it seemed that they had not staffed enough people--our waiter was very busy and very upset.
Review 35:Amber was our waitress every morning and she was excellent. The room was beautiful and we loved our stay! Everyone was very helpful at the hotel!
Review 36:In a bad area. The Indian museum behind the building is closed. The whole are is depressing. Walking around the back of building to get to our car, someone had used the back of the building to pee on. Smelled.
Review 37:red coach was wonderful. Great service, nice room, dinner was great. Niagara river is right across the street. We had a picnic
Review 38:Tub was hard to get in and out of. No grip bars on shower wall, tub was very slippery
Review 39:Comfortable room, friendly staff, beautiful view of the Rapids. The cheese and fruit plate was excellent after a long day of sightseeing
Review 40:The staff were so nice trying to make our stay more comfortable. Room is clean and with all necessary kitchen utencile, although we did not use any. Restaurant has excellent food choice.
Review 41:The room smelled a little musty from the AC. Everything else was great.
Review 42:Loved the room & the restaurant. Free breakfast, cheese plate, & champagne. Cookies on departure. Amazing!
Review 43:The people/staff were all very friendly and accommodating, the room was very comfortable and clean and I lover the Jacuzzi tub.I recommend this Inn to everyone just perfect in every way. Thank you
Review 44:We found no faults with this hotel.
Review 45:This is a great hotel with old-world charm. The restaurant is superb with a diverse menu and excellent food. The hotel is located adjacent to the nature park along the river with just a 100 metre walk from the hotel to the rapids upstream from the falls, a short walk to the bridge across to Goat Island and view points for the falls and only a twenty minute walk across the road bridge to Canada.
Review 46:Stained carpet found a bad of cooked rice behind a table. No ice machine. No soda machine. Restaurant closed early so no snack after Friday fireworks.
Review 47:Great location. Great food.
Review 48:View of the parking lot from first room until we doubled our expenses for another room.. Terrible service at breakfast where our waitress never asked nor refilled coffee cups (Another waitress did refill our cups) along with waiting an excessive amount of time for our bill.
Review 49:Location gave us a good view of rapids from our room.. Awesome opening window in morning to allow fresh morning air in along with the unending sound or the rapids..
Review 50:Hotel front desk staff did not explain number of stairs up to suite. Not for elderly. Bed linens need updating. Living room furniture needs updating.
Review 51:Bathroom, kitchen, view of rapids, staff
Review 52:We had to carry our on luggage up two flights of stairs and we are not physically well.
Review 53:Directly across from the Falls, food was great and staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 54:Some of their staff are poor service mind and the way they speak and act is a bit rude.
Review 55:The location is very good. The room is excellent, good decorated and comfortable. Breakfast so delicious. So sad that we stay here just 1 night.
Review 56:Rooms in the Annex are motel like - you enter the room directly from the parking, and there is no connection with the rest of the hotel.
Review 57:Nicely decorated room, small but with everything we needed. Complimentary cheese plate and sparkling wine were great! Excellent breakfast (gigantic portions).
Review 58:My family and I enjoyed our stay for two nights in two separate lovely rooms. We liked the cozy interiors of our rooms. The breakfast choices were varied and great, and the services efficient.
Review 59:The room named Dorset probably has the maintenance room behind. Every time the heating was working the room walls were vibrating and was very loud.
Review 60:The location, food and staff were excellent
Review 61:Absolutely no complaints
Review 62:Quaint, simple, attractive accommodations. Staff everywhere was very pleasant & accommodating. A special nod to our waitress Christina, a gem!!! Food was phenomenal at the restaurant & an excellent value included with the room rate for breakfast. Very pretty view of the river from the dining room. We could not have been more pleased!!!
Review 63:Hard to get ahold of front desk during certain hours... I'm assuming it's because they walk you to your room when you check in. Also, wish the room came with a dirty laundry bag.
Review 64:Very clean, quiet atmosphere, nice size bedrooms! The jacuzzi tub was by far my favorite feature! Nice location to either walk and/or drive to falls or rapids. Breakfast was delicious and morning staff very welcoming.
Review 65:The red coach has no elevator so having a room on the third floor was a bit of a walk.
Review 66:The Nottingham room was perfect! Very spacious and loved the view of the rapids!
Review 67:Can't think of anything that I didn't like. The staff was super friendly except one Russell, who didn't seem to like me.
Review 68:Just be at The Red Coach Inn to enjoy the beauty of Niagara or go for a walk around the place after a meal. It's the perfect vacation for someone who loves to live life the way we were created to live it. It's one place that has it all whether you want to just relax indoors or step out. Romantic, cozy, awesome, warm ...
Review 69:- electric heating was very drying - bright light in the parking lot couldn't be shut off or sufficiently shielded in the night - no flat screen, an old box tv - parking lot view from our window
Review 70:- breakfast included - friendly, efficient staff - big open fireplaces in the restaurant quaint - could see the rushing water falling over the falls - champagne and cheese tray in our room -jacuzzi tub
Review 71:Can you do something about the mist off the falls? Lol
Review 72:The room was very spacious, and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent. Can't wait to return!
Review 73:Our room was near to some sort of utility space where the engine kept humming almost all night. Not super loud but definitely audible, I wish I have brought my earplugs. Also curtains is not thick enough to block light from the street. I won't recommend getting the cheap(est) rooms there.
Review 74:Great location, walking distance to the Falls. Good breakfast on site. Decent size room, comfortable bed. Champagne and cheese on arrival.
Review 75:What I didn't like: our room wasn't ready on time and there was confusion from the front desk staff as to when the room would be ready. While our room (The Portsmouth) was nice some extra seating would have been very nice ie. an easy chair. No way to get into the hotel from the rear parking and no signage indicating where the lobby door was. The window lock didn't lock when completely closed. The garbage truck emptying the bins at 06:30 AM
Review 76:I liked: the attentive staff from the restaurant / bar area and also management, the great location so very close to the Niagara River you can hear it, the room for the most part was nice....but (see What I didn't like), the room was very clean with no signs of bedbugs even behind the headboard, dinner was good while the breakfast was outstanding
Review 77:Noisy plumbing
Review 78:Excellent breakfast included Free Parking Nice welcome gift of champaigne, cheese & crakers Updated bath with whirlpool tub Quaint room Exceptional friendly staff
Review 79:The Suite was very comfortable and didn't feel like hotel room at all, we had a Great view and the food at the resturant was awesome....we will definately be returning there in the near future!!
Review 80:Room had a bit of a musky smell.
Review 81:The location was lovely! Across the street from the Falls and a beautiful walking path. The staff were helpful, professional and extremely kind! We loved the room, the food and the setting. It felt like home-away-from-home, grandmas house and a mini retreat all in one!
Review 82:Room itself could use done updating, but quite comfortable.
Review 83:Great location, nice updated bathroom with personal robes, champagne included with the room, and the breakfast was outstanding! Best place to stay on the American side of the falls!
Review 84:noisy fridge breakfast serving was toooooo long found a bone piece (a tooth?) in my fried potatoes cleaning person opened our door without knocking before the check-out time
Review 85:location large fireplace in the restaurant ancient style
Review 86:We had an evening meal in the restaurant. The server was brash, and seemed rushed off her feet. The whole atmosphere was chaotic. We did not eat there on our second evening. House keeping was lax although very wet the bath mat was not changed. Coffee and milk was not replenished and bed was left as we had made it. Perhaps there was a staffing shortage.
Review 87:An excellent position for visiting the Niagra Falls Park. Just across the road from the Rapids the hotel had a good ambience breakfast service was excellent.
Review 88:Bathroom fan was noisy and light was burned out between the entrance door and door to our room. We did report them both!
Review 89:Location, the quality of the free breakfast, really good quality of all the food, welcoming cheese and cracker tray, being able to walk to the Falls, and friendiness of staff
Review 90:The room had several flaws. The toilet ran every 15 min. The heater fan was quite loud, awakening us during the night. One of the lamps was broken by the switch and had exposed wires. Not what you would expect in a 4 star hotel
Review 91:The proximity to the falls
Review 92:none
Review 93:2 mins from the border to canada and the falls, 3 min walk from the american side of the falls, great breakfast, large clean room and great atmosphere
Review 94:Fantastic location near the falls. Across the street from the upper rapids and within an easy walk to Prospect Point or Goat Island. We stayed in the Manchester room. A little small by today's standards but very nice and comfortable.
Review 95:We liked everything.
Review 96:Location, within walking distance from all Falls attractions. Very well appointed and furnished rooms. Car parking on site. Quality of food and service.
Review 97:The only negative would be that there were a lot of vacant buildings in the area. It did not affect my stay, just sad to see.
Review 98:I love older buildings but after staying at the Waldorf Astoria(horrible stay) in NYC, I was apprehensive of staying at this Inn. I had a great experience! Slept very well, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was modern with a taste of an older time. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and I know my husband and stay at the Red Coach Inn again.
Review 99:Had to walk outside and to the back of the property to get to our room. So dining on the property would require walking outside your room to the dining facility which could be a problem in cold snowy weather.
Review 100:Beds comfortable. Nice sized room. Attention to detail. Cheese and crackers was an unexpected surprise on check in. The staff was excellent on check in and very attentive and informative.
Review 101:When we went for the free breakfast, which was very delicious and a large portion. Our waitress was very slow and unfriendly. I was not happy with her service. When she brought us the check, we were told by her, that everything is taken care of except that we would have to pay the tax. I thought it was a little weird and with her bad service, I didn't leave here a tip. When checking out of the hotel, I asked the person at the desk, and I was told, that this tax is an extra tip that goes to the server. So just know that the "taxes" that you have to pay is an extra tip for the server.
Review 102:You were taken to your room from a car park at the back of the hotel, and why do american hotel beds have to be so high, you need a ladder to get into bed.
Review 103:Where it was situated, within walking distance of the Niagara Falls, and Maid of the Mist. the room was also tastefully furnished with a nice touch of sparkling wine and cheese and crackers in fridge
Review 104:Room on the small side, partly below ground level with window hard to open. Dinner (only adequate) eaten on the patio (mosquitoes) amid noisy diners in sloppy clothes. Mosquitoes and annoying patrons not the restaurant's fault, of course
Review 105:Ease of access, friendly staff, very good breakfast, comfortable bed
Review 106:Bed linens were not clean and looked as if it was continued from previous stay and not changed for our stay. The carpets were smelly and the 2 br suite felt very stuffy. Although wifi was part of our package, it did not work and the hotel front desk refused to give us a discount for this deficiency in service.
Review 107:They did not have an ice machine. But I could get ice at the bar. They put a gratuity charge on the bill and we did not know this until after we left a tip. The room was a little small. The WiFi did not work at all in the three days we were there. When they cleaned our room, they did not leave any wash cloths or any bath mat.
Review 108:The staff was very nice.
Review 109:But alas, the rooms are dated. Paint is chipped, lamps are broken, a musty smells pervades. Housekeeping is what you'd expect at a buget motel. No soap or water glasses in the bathroom. We washed our hands with shampoo. No one had cleaned under the bed in months if not years. Not only was there trash, there was a layer of dust. Given the price of a stay, 5 star housekeeping is mandatory. (Especially since the tack on a mandatory 5% gratuity to the bill....very tacky people..."gratuity" is not something that should ever be mandatory.) We were disappointed.
Review 110:The inn is conviently located right across the street from the State Park. It's an great location if you ignore the sadness of the dirty parking lots and run down buildings that surround a few big box hotels and the casino that make up the rest of the American side of the falls. The inn itself has, as it's name suggests, 18 century feel to it. The staff are couteous and helpful. This could be a 5 star gem in a 2 star town.
Review 111:Limited selection of restaurants with walking distance. Locating the Starbucks took a few days :-)
Review 112:Hotel is located in the heart of downtown on a quaint side street. Visiting the falls is within walking distance. Hotel is centrally located, includes parking and within short driving distance to everything.
Review 113:Room was a bit small, water pipes a little annoying.
Review 114:Clean and comfortable, free breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Staff was very friendly, location was perfect.
Review 115:Nothing!
Review 116:This is not your hotel chain decor! Wonderful old world furnishings, and a bath tub to die for. The restaurant was charming as well. You can't beat the location. It's right across the street from the rapids and it's just a short walk to the falls.
Review 117:Very poor or almost no wi-fi in our room (Dover). The wi fi works well in lobby only.
Review 118:We liked the comfort, cleanliness, closeness to the fall, flowing river in front and quality of food served.
Review 119:Management should have parking space reserve for the people who booked the room by spending lots of $$. They frequently host wedding and guest takes mostly all the parking space and then you need to park someplace else. This small thing actually ruined an evening for me.
Review 120:Location Room
Review 121:Dinner service was slow. I think our server was given too many tables in the other room because we didn't get much attention. The taste of the food was good once we got it; however, my husband found a long hair on his plate under his potatoes. In our room, we kept seeing someone else's hair (dark hair, but we have light hair) everywhere. Several in the bathroom, then we saw a hair between the covers!
Review 122:Friendly staff Breakfast was amazing in the dining room. The creme brûlée french toast is to die for. The location cannot be beaten. It was great. We were able to walk almost everywhere on the American side.
Review 123:The hotel is five star but its very old and classic style. May some peoples like classic style but still the furniture are very old and the wooden floor is very noisy. At the end its a scary house it looks like hunted house :-(
Review 124:The location was fabulous, and the breakfast was an excellent.
Review 125:Restaurant staff just a tad off. Forgot salad my husband ordered at dinner. At breakfast, my husband ordered hot chocolate & I ordered coffee. Had to ask for coffee/hot cocoa when food was delivered, to be told out of hot cocoa. Food was delish though!
Review 126:The staff was great, room clean & quaint. Loved the signature journal to write about our stay. Close to everything, within walking distance. Would highly recommend to friends and would definitely stay there again.
Review 127:Location is great that close to all attractions and the food in its restaurant is good as well. Old style of hotel room makes you feel different from the other hotel rooms
Review 128:You could not have a better home base for proximity to the attractions at the falls. The Inn was charming and the restaurant was old world with excellent food. I am glad that I chose the Inn for our stay at Niagara Falls.
Review 129:Booked a room with a view of the falls, the room we got looked out onto the street running at right angles to the river, no river view.
Review 130:Large room, comfortable bed. Extensive breakfast menu. Across the road from the top of the Falls. Short walk onto Goat island, excellent position for visiting the falls. Very accommodating when we were delayed and arrived late at night.
Review 131:The staff was not friendly and acted like they would prefer to be anywhere else but the inn. When I advised the desk that there was no remote in the room and that the TV armoire door was broken to where you could not watch the TV, they sent out a maintenance guy about an hour later who just helped look for a remote and just said "I'm sorry" about the armoire and never fixed it. We got a new remote about an hour later, but still mo fix on the armoire. This took several hours that we had planned to visit the Falls. The restaurant staff was extremely slow and hardly ever checked on us. The breakfast left us wishing we had paid to eat somewhere else, however, the supper we ordered from room service was very good. The maid service lacked service. All she did was swap out towels and make the bed. She did not replace the linens on the bed or any of the amenities that we used the first day. The Inn has the potential to be a great place and even a destination, but they need to work on the service end of things and treat the guests a lot better.
Review 132:The location was perfect, within walking distance of all of the local attractions. The room was well decorated, clean and stocked with complimentary amenities. They have a well decorated restaurant and bar on the premises with a complimentary made to order breakfast. The Inn has the potential to be a great place and even a destination, but they need to work on the service end of things and treat the guests a lot better.
Review 133:The Wi-fi was so poor. We can only access to the wifi in a limited area. There were no things like soy sauce, salt, and so in the kitchen.
Review 134:Good location. Helpful and friendly staffs. Delicious breakfast. Nice ammendies and facilities in the room.
Review 135:Ants and flies in the dining area.....trays left on floors in hallway overnight.
Review 136:The desk clerk was awesome, a keeper for sure. All the of the staff was congenial. We liked the view, the room, and the food in our fridge and the restaurant was perfect, except the flavored butter was stale. You have a great place and we would return.
Review 137:The receptionist at the reception desk was always away when you need her.
Review 138:Very nice & comfortable room. Well equipped. Very clean. Welcoming champagne & classical music in the room on arrival was very good idea. Delicious food at the restaurant.
