Reviews for Americas Best Value Inn Austin

Review 1:A construction crew was here and they loitered outside at all hours drinking beer and using loud profanity. It was very uncomfortable having to walk thru a large group of drunk men with small children. And the roaches were bad.

Review 2:Staff is great, location is good, the new laundry and gym are convenient, beds are comfortable

Review 3:literally prostitute and her man trapping from midnight until 10 AM in the room next door, made us feel incredibly unsafe. they were extremely loud and we couldn't sleep at all. mould in the bathroom.

Review 4:desk woman was nice

Review 5:Noisy, right next to parking lot and lots of people walking right next to door all night long. Breakfast was very sparce and not very good.

Review 6:Very clean room.

Review 7:There were tiny roaches in the air conditioner and in the bathroom. The noise outside was loud. There were stains on the towels when I unfolded them. Not just makeup stains but crusty questionable stains. Breakfast was minimal not much room to sit but you are not allowed to take the food to your room.

Review 8:The bed was clean and neatly made.

Review 9:That not only did I pay them cash for our two day stay but they also charged my credit card for the same two day stay. And when asked to refund my money I was informed that I had to speak to someone else and she wouldn't be in tell Monday and this was only Saturday which wasn't good for us cause we needed that money for other things that's why we paid cash. Then Monday finally gets here and guess what the person I was to speak with would be in tell the next day. Finally on Nov. 4,2015 Wednesday I get a hold of the person I spoke with which was very nice and found that yes they did charge me double and they are refunding my money. I have to go pick it up. But as for any other offers to compensate us for our inconvenience none was given and when I brought it up I was told were giving you your money back isn't that enough. Really please people not that I would have stayed at thst location again but they could have at least offered us two free night for the crsp they put us though. Our stsy was awful police everywhere from the time we arrived till way late into the next morning and then there was a couple screaming outside our door . crazy place I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS AS A PLACE TO STAY FOR ANYONE AT ALL HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE.

Review 10:Had a laundry room that had 2 washers and 2 dryers and you have to adk to use them and at thay. Time you ate given a key card if it isnt already in use and when you get tbe key card your the only one using them for a 2 hour time slot then you return the key card to front desk so someone else has a chance to use the facilities.

Review 11:Checked in and the room we got hadn't been cleaned yet. Staff tried to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal at first. They ended up getting us another room but we had to wait another 30 minutes before it was ready.

Review 12:Near I-35

Review 13:The staff are very rude well some of them I spend a lot of money on yalls room and I get disrespected and threatened and picked on by one of the staff member's

Review 14:Roaches Free breakfast - no one "watching" so people were reaching all over the food, not using tongs, etc .....

Review 15:Fresh paint, comfortable room

Review 16:Location is too far away from the city and in the middle of nothing. Shower, towels and bed sheets had hair in them. Many people making noise outside. Not a good choice for ACL

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:SUPER EASY to get to and from the airport and my workshop. The staff were quite pleasant; housekeeping did a great job cleaning my room each day; the room and my bed were very comfortable. Considering it's an older property, it was an excellent value. ... I wish I had another class coming up soon so I could stay there again!

Review 19:People drinking outside along side of the bldg n not very safe. TV needed a new cable, n phone needed jiggling if you used it.

Review 20:Front desk was very helpful with destination plans for dinner. Close to 6th but not if you're too drunk. Breakfast was better than most- only real positive thing here.

Review 21:Not the best when you have to travel only one set of stairs on the backside rooms. Did not feel safe with people staying in truckbeds drinking all hours of the night. Should request no loitering after 11pm

Review 22:It was a good value when trying to stay within a budget.

Review 23:I had no cold water in the shower just steaming hot very uncomfortable to take shower. Report to front desk when checking out and didn't seem concern.

Review 24:The location is great is close to everywhere I went to go

Review 25:The last stay was very disappointing. We killed at least 9 cockroaches which is a healh hazard for me. So we tried to contact the front desk only to find out our phone didn't even work.wWhen it came time to shower the curtain rod was placed upside down causing the curtains from covering the shower.which ended with a soaked floor and wet clothes.

Review 26:I've been a valued customer with America's best value inn. It has always been our choice for any hotel stay. The Wi-Fi is a great plus along with the HBO channels.

Review 27:They have to exterminate The roaches they have a bad roach problem but other than that it was awesome

Review 28:the bed was very comfortable really the whole room was a very comfortable environment

Review 29:The air conditioning didn't cool the room very well; the fridge didn't get very cold at all; the pool was tiny; there were roaches and crickets inside the room; there were belongings from the previous tenant that weren't cleaned before our stay; we got attacked by a swarm of bees on the stairs; the only vending machine was in the lobby; there was only access to the second floor in two locations, resulting in carrying luggage for a very long distance; there was a hole in the shower.

Review 30:The beds were extremely comfortable!

Review 31:Cleaning staff walked around complaining and our toilet had to be "repaired" twice during our weekend stay. I would not rate it a 4.2 since a functioning toilet is needed.

Review 32:Reception staff was friendly enough, but did not go out of their way.

Review 33:Staff at desk was rather rude. They were playing with a friends baby and had loud rap music playing. Location was in a bad part of town. Definitely the "hood". Room was very dirty. Found someone else's socks as well as cigarette butts under the bed (in our non smoking room). We requested a later check out time (by only 1 hour) and were told it would be a $55 charge. Shower head comes up to the shoulder. From our window, we watched a woman exchange cash with a man and then hop in his car for a few minutes, hopped out, and walked back to the street corner. We will never stay here again.

Review 34:Bed was comfy - nice furniture.

Review 35:It was just in a bad area. The actual rooms were pretty bad too; saw a couple of roaches. Can't expect much more from a low budget hotel.

Review 36:The WiFi was good. The breakfast was good too.

Review 37:The neighborhood, the lack of interest of guest concerns by the staff, the fact that our door didn't close all the way and that I slept with one eye open.

Review 38:I liked that we checked out early

Review 39:Told Clark about the roaches present in the room she did send someone to spray but she could not move because of availability but gave me a card and told me to call the manager on Monday this was on a Saturday morning . When I called the manager on Monday to tell her about the issue the manager told me but is nothing I can do because she offered to move you even though we did not have availability you should of came down later and we could've moved you didn't give us the chance to move you

Review 40:Proximity to interstate and Fm 290

Review 41:There is flushing sound every 30 mins, and it's probably from neighboring rooms. The sound is very annoying and disturbing. I didn't get much sleep because of the noise.

Review 42:The staff at front desk is nice, and the motel is close to downtown, which is also great

Review 43:The outer appearance looks old and dirty. Some of the guests may have been living there and were sketchy in character.

Review 44:The staff was very friendly. The location is close to the UT/downtown area. The free breakfast had a variety cereal, pastries/muffins, sausage biscuits and you can make your own waffles.

Review 45:Roaches, can not take food to the room, was told it was because they did not want to clean it up, room smelled of bleach. You get what you pay for. Was not made aware of the pet policy, and was told that I had to pay an additional 40 for my dogs, they acted like I was trying to hide them- even though I wrote it on the reservation notes.

Review 46:Cheap, easy to get around town, pets welcome.

Review 47:Oh, where to start. Upon walking in, the very first thing I noticed wasa roach on the hotel lobby floor. I should have turned and ran at thatmoment. They reassured me this was a one time incident and I proceededto check in. Again, my mistake. The three nights I stayed there were bug-filled, to say the least. I didn't shower at my hotel because it wasso nasty and again, bug filled. Thankfully I was just there to crash atnight...which again, my mistake, as I woke up days two and three with mylegs covered in bites, that a full month later now I am still strugglingand doctoring for. I would have rather slept in the street. I was inAustin from North Dakota, and on a tight budget, otherwise I would haveran like an Olympic sprinter. Oh, and the door didn't fully close(did lock, though...) and I was on ground level. So that was fun.

Review 48:Uhhh...exactly nothing. Nada. Zero. Lip. Zilch.Oh I lied..they had the travel channel...

Review 49:Customer service is everything to me. Being from out of town, Houston, it was horrible upon leaving.

Review 50:The overnight stay was excellent. I had a meeting and was running behind, as I made a waffle and grabbed some fruit. The hispanic clerk was very ugly about me taking the waffle with me and I had to throw the waffle away. Even the fruit had to be threw away.

Review 51:For a non smoking room, the room smelled terribly like smoke. There were people coming and going all night. Looked people were actually living there. Their trash and belongings sat outside their doors. The locations is very bad. The layout is awkward. Our tub was extremely outdated with seal it caked all over it. Very low to the ground toilet. Musty A/c unit..

Review 52:The bed was comfy..

Review 53:There were small beetles in the room. I don't know if it was just because we were in Texas and there are more bugs there in general.

Review 54:I liked how it was centrally located for things we wanted to see or do.

Review 55:Noisy. Arrived at 1 AM and had to wait 10 for anyone to show up after buzzing to let me in to check in. Had reservations for 2 nights but they made my key invalid the 2nd night and I had to sign paper work to revalidate the key even though all of our things were still in the room.

Review 56:Cost. Location.

Review 57:There was slight mold in the shower and someone left paper balls on the ceiling.

Review 58:The location is near downtown Austin as well as many restaurants and stores. It was also very quiet to say that the hotel is near the highway.

Review 59:This hotel is a residence to a lot of people and there was always a lot of trash on the stairways or in the parking lot. The room we had needed updating and still had the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the furniture

Review 60:Location was good to get around town, the breakfast offered was actually pretty good. Easy access for wifi

Review 61:The entire room wreaked of cigarettes.

Review 62:The staff was very friendly and prompt. We had a problem with our TV but they were very quick to fix it! The woman at the front desk was very friendly as well!

Review 63:the air in the room was humid but cool and had a restless first night sleep but they seem to correct it the next day. Also the bathtub faucet had a bad steady leak of hot water-also fixed the next day. Had no second roll of toilet paper and had to go to office to get some at night. The Phone cord was missing when we checked in and had to go to office to get one. The bedside light and clock was not plugged in and had to get staff to take headboard off the wall and pull bed out to get extension cord to plug them in.

Review 64:Bed is very comfortable

Review 65:It seemed to be in a fairly dodgy area, and the rooms are fairly exposed to the street. Actually had some angry random guy thump on my door and shout at 2am. Also, room really wasn't clean. Billed as non-smoking, but smelled disgustingly of cigarettes. There were some used cotton buds on one of the surfaces.

Review 66:Decent selection of restaurants around.

Review 67:The room was smelling like a smoker room though I was told it wasent a smoker room.I did not sleep the whole night maybe the pers on next door was smoking.I requested for a change but I was told it was too late so I had to cgeck out and I lost my money. The guy at the reception was kinda rude.

Review 68:The room is well equipt

Review 69:I'm very disappointed with my visit at the facility I stayed in. My room had a problem with an overflowing bathroom. When calling front desk, they sent a maintenance person who seemed upset about the fact tags we didn't turn off the water line. He said that why didn't we! ( I didn't think It was my job to do) then when I went to front desk to ask what happened if they had fixed it or not and whether we could be moved from rooms bc of the bad smell. The front seat agent didn't not apologize and all he said was I'm giving you a refund for tonight. That's it. I feel like the service is very poor and will not be coming back

Review 70:I had a group of young girls there. We had a dance competition in Austin. Half the rooms were dirty and half were infested with roaches. It was late when we arrived so too late to change hotels. There were people running up and down the hall and knocking on doors. People driving up and honking. I heard a girl being chased by a guy outside my room. My boyfriend had to go outside and say something to the guy. Horrible experience. I was very upset as well as the parents that were with me. I did not feel safe. I kept checking out the window to make sure the truck wasn't getting broken into or the dance props werent being messed with.

Review 71:The room was dirty, smelled horrible, sticky floors, dirty towels in the bathroom. The worst part was was the spoon full O drugs we found & the front desk clerk did nothing about

Review 72:Nothing.

Review 73:The bed could have been more comfortable but did not leave us in pain. Some hotel guests down the way were a little loud and a creepy guy hung around muttering and smoking on the walk way, which was not too safe.

Review 74:The staff was friendly even under pressure. We were sitting and eating breakfast when someone who was clearly beligerant came up and started screaming at the staff and they handled it extremely well and professionally. I always book with this hotel because it is a bed and a shower at a low price and always decent.

Review 75:We did not like the location of the facility. The people hanging around outside did not leave you with a sense of security.

Review 76:Our stay was for only one night with late check in and early check out as we were traveling. The staff was nice.

Review 77:When we first got to the room it was supposed to be a nonsmoking room, but smelled of cigarettes. But they got us in another room no problem and very quickly. The second room was clean and smell fresh. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 78:The room and rooms next to it stunk so bad of cigarettes and musty that we couldn't stay there. AC didn't work. Location was not a safe area for women staying alone.

Review 79:people running up and down sidewalk and being extremely loud up til 4:00 am sucked, and beer bottles placed behind tires of people's cars the next morning also sucked.

Review 80:Bed was comfy, breakfast was good, front desk staff was very pleasant at check in

Review 81:We were woken up at 4 in the morning when the front desk called to ask if we knew a man who had evidently wandered in and told the front desk he had met us downtown that night. We were not in downtown, or even Austin, that night. The call was both unprofessional and creepy. It ruined my opinion of the hotel.

Review 82:Good location. It's close to everything.

Review 83:The phone was dead. There weren't enough electric outlets for the appliances. You have to unplug one of these to get the other two to work.......coffee maker, microwave and frig.

Review 84:Nice room and bathroom

Review 85:Bed was OK but the pillows were hard and flat, very uncomfortable. Our non smoking room smelled musty and like cigarette heavy smoke.

Review 86:It was OK for the price. Nothing fancy, fairly comfortable. Basics were there, location and access to the freeway. It was fine for a night if you want to keep it cheap and simple. Breakfast was minimal but OK.

Review 87:They could have handled the situation of finding my reservation a little different. Letting me check in cause i was tired from travelling all day and then clarify details later on. Otherwise really nice!!! I felt very welcome.

Review 88:Friendliness and honesty of staff. They did not find my reservation directly, however they did not blame it on Booking but said there was an error within the Hotel. Very helpful and allowing me to change room cause it smelled of smoke. Breakfast was okay as well.

Review 89:We have stayed at this motel for all the UT football games. We have stayed in different rooms each time we stayed there. This time we were disappointed. There wasn't any soap for the shower, and the pillows were flat. It was a bit chilly that evening and there were no blankets for the beds. We tried the heater but the air was very dry and hard to breathe with the heater on. We would have called the front desk but it was already 1:00 AM so didn't want to be a bother that last at night. Other rooms that we have stayed in were much comfortable than this one at this motel.

Review 90:We have stayed at this motel for all the UT football games. Every time we have stayed the staff has been very helpful.

Review 91:The room was supposed to be "smoke free" but it reeked of cigarette. The neighborhood wasn't the greatest, I see why the price was so cheap.

Review 92:It was right off the highway. There was free breakfast and I booked the room for a very reasonable price.

Review 93:We paid what I feel was too high a price for the Saturday night stay ($259). The room was very small and the furnishings old. It was fairly clean.

Review 94:location

Review 95:Location was a little difficult to get to. Although we did not visit for the race, the hotel raised its rates to very high at that time and the property just is not worth it. Older property that was not that clean or in great shape. Old beds and rooms that smelled. Some sketchy characters hanging around.

Review 96:The place was clean and there was several things to choose from at breakfast...not just coffee and muffins like other places that charge the same price.

Review 97:Other guests were noisy and left trash in the parking lot. I didn't appreciate being called at 2:30 am on the first night of my stay because of some kind of front office anomaly.

Review 98:The location was good near the Interstate without a lot of road noise. There were multiple very nice restaurants nearby that offered good value. The door key worked every time for my entire 5-day stay,

Review 99:This hotel room had a continual supply of gnats for the four nights I stayed there. Otherwise, it was 'clean'.

Review 100:The desk clerk did try to assist me in removing the odor in the room, but the ultimate and almost instant deodorizer was the peppermint oil on the A/C filter. He was very nice.

Review 101:They were able to give us a downstairs room. We did not try the WiFi. The location is great for us and at a reasonable price. We have stayed here twice before and every time the staff so great.

Review 102:Air didn't work good. Finally bought us a fan that had no front cover on it. We paid for two night they called said we needed to check out they didn't show another night .. Had to take my paperwork down to get it straighten out.

Review 103:Beds were comfortable..

Review 104:I didn't expect much from the hotel when I booked it but I did expect cleanliness. It was pretty dirty. I saw three bugs in the room. One crawled across my phone and the other across the TV! There was left over hair in the bathroom and on the bath towels. They seriously need to fire all the cleaning crew and hire some professional cleaners.

Review 105:The price was great. The staff was friendly, free breakfast and free wifi. Was able to get cabs quickly.

Review 106:Excellent breakfast, there wasn't decafe coffee and they made some for us. A lot of choice for breakfast considering it is a economical motel. Staff was very nice and helped us with directions.

Review 107:We had to wait 20 minutes for our room to be ready (after 3pm) but even the cleaning lady was sweet to usso not a big deal, we could tell the inn was super busy.

Review 108:The room was lovely, better than expected (i hate those scratchy frumpy comforters in most hotels) The staff was fun and sweet, even answered a couple questions about what to do around town.

Review 109:There wasn't anything I simply hated about the place other than the fact that the rooms are not located inside of a central building. I was scared to bump into customers outside at night whenever I needed ice, so that would've made my experience a little different. My room also smelled of smoke upon every entrance even though I requested non smoking. It went away after a while, but I still didn't like it. I agree with my boyfriend when he described it as a glorified motel.

Review 110:The bed was probably the best part. The king sized bed was incredible and actually really comfy. Overall not a poor experience.

Review 111:Broken ice machine.A neighboring guess up all night going in and out hearing the squeaky door open and close.

Review 112:Near by restraunts.Easy access into the inn.The breakfast's were great.

Review 113:Roaches in the room Carpet smelled like wet dog no hairdryer no iron room was not clean there was a coffee stir stick on floor when we went in the room we will never stay at this chain of hotel ever again

Review 114:Stayed Friday and Saturday night and heard people walking by that were arguing. You can hear the water running in the next room.

Review 115:Staff was good, price was great!

Review 116:This isn't the best hotel that I've stayed in, but given the price it wasn't too bad. They need to take up the old mildew smelling carpet and put down hardwood floors like some hotels and motels are starting to do. I was disappointed that the exercise room is being used for storage. That was 1 of the reasons I chose to stay there. Breakfast is limited to cold cereal and sweet pastries... nothing if you're vegetarian or vegan

Review 117:There was blood specs on the bathroom walls and feces still on the Toliet and a smashed roach on the floor...and this room was said to be cleaned... Appears alot of people there live there month to month..

Review 118:No bed bugs in our room ...

Review 119:I was verry disappointed of the Internet service (wi-fi)... Since I'm from Mexico I don't have internet from my phone and I use a lot this service for my activities.... Was the only bad thing at my stay...

Review 120:The price, the ubication, the breakfast, and the Ihop at next door.

Review 121:Unfortunately, there were some downs: there wasn't a stopper for the tub, but they gave us one; the ironing board was broken, but they replaced it; although the location was good for traveling to places, I didn't feel safe. If I was not taking aman with me, I wouldn't stay here by myself or with kids. Let me be clear, nothing ever jeopardized our safety, it was just a feeling....Overall, for 2 nights, in Austin, great price of $119!

Review 122:ABVInn was able to meet the needs of my family...the most pleasing aspect of this place is the pool...it was small, quaint, andclean. My 10 and 2 year olds had a blast. The continental breakfast was filling and complete with fruit, muffins, cereal, delicious juices (my 10 year old's words), fresh milk, and waffles. If we had a concern, the staff was prompt and friendly. Being north of Austin was perfect because we didn't have to fight traffic to our destinations.

Review 123:Office failed to offer any thing to make up for this. They said it happens alot for the past three months.

Review 124:After getting a phone call at 6:45 am by another person staying at the hotel trying to sell me sex I called the office to report it. Twenty min later they called again.

Review 125:We booked reservation around midnight the night before checking in. We arrived early morning after driving all night. Staff was very helpful and friendly in getting us into our room before normal check in time ( noon) so we could shower and brush up to conduct our business by 10 am.

Review 126:The pool was really close to the I35 could be quite noisy

Review 127:Very friendly staff, really enjoyed the free breakfast it was well catered. Having a room on the ground floor meant we could park our car right outside.

Review 128:I was changed from the original room assigned because some problems in the door. But in the new room, we had problems with the shower, which were sucessfully arranged.

Review 129:The staff and location.

Review 130:Drug dealers in the parking lot, tennant on the balcony wrapped in a towel ,more than once. limited parking.

Review 131:The staff was helpful as much as they could be.

Review 132:My door did not have a chain or metal clasp (no idea what they are called) to close on the inside.. That made me really nervous! I pushed a chair under the door each night.

Review 133:The bed was comfortable, the desk people were very helpful!

Review 134:Pool is smallish and next to the highway/bridge. Carpets are old and dirty throughout. Room was a bit smelly. This is your standard motel!

Review 135:Breakfast included, good WIFI available in room, nice front desk manager.

Review 136:N/A

Review 137:The free breakfast was great.
