Reviews for Hotel Ruby

Review 1:Lots of wine glasses but not one coffee cup? The kitchenette was great but there should have been a coffee maker, coffee cups, silverware, dishes, etc.

Review 2:Cool, eclectic setting for a romantic retreat. We stayed in the Hospitality Suite for three nights. The king bed was very comfy, white cotton linens and a kitchenette.

Review 3:The bed was too firm.

Review 4:I love all of it! I knew this place before it became the Ruby. I felt safe because of the gated parking and security cameras. The whole place is wonderful. The lounge is chic and modern. Great price Can't wait to stay there again!

Review 5:This was the only hotel on our cross country journey (across the U.S. and back) that charged us a pet fee. $25 pet fee, and a $5 parking fee. Very disappointed, we could of got a much nicer motel for the $30 extra in charges.

Review 6:Heater didn't work so we got transferred to a bigger room with a nice working heater. The guy working was nice. Modern room. Breakfast waffles were good

Review 7:Room had a creaky floor (severely) door to outside did not seal. Could see light coming in from below it. Surprise $5/night fee to park. Toilet paper hangar was 8-10" off the floor, tiles missing from behind door on bathroom floor. Bathroom walls were wallpaper that had been painted over (without enough to hide pattern).

Review 8:Breakfast was good. Bar was beautiful. Bed was comfortable. Room was very clean. Wifi was fast. Flat screen tv

Review 9:It was like a motel 6 got a remodel. It was advertised as a 3 star hotel, but I could have gotten more value from a true hotel elsewhere.

Review 10:Waffle breakfast

Review 11:Courtyard shape concentrates notice from cars and trucks parking. More noise comes from many trains passing by about a block away. In short, it's not very quiet.

Review 12:Location handy to most of downtown; staff pleasant and courteous, including in bar

Review 13:Staying at Ruby, I was charged and extra $5 for the night for parking.

Review 14:I stayed at both Ruby and Ruby2 for one night each. The bathrooms in Ruby2 were a bit more spacious. Beds were very comfortable for sleeping.

Review 15:It is a bit noisy...take the earplugs they offer, the train is just behind and the hotel is old style with outside walkways.

Review 16:Can walk to most things in downtown Spokane. The little bar is very cosy in winter with a gas fireplace, lots of Windows, and a good happy hour.

Review 17:$5.00 extra parking fee. We arrived in Spokane from Friday to Monday. We would have stayed at your facility but you had a extra fee and the other facility we stayed at did not.

Review 18:artwork was unique

Review 19:Disappointed in breakfast, some fresh fruit would have been nice. And they could have made more waffle mx when they ran out.

Review 20:Great value, kitchy look to an older 1950's motel. Perfect for a one night stay. Very comfortable bed.

Review 21:No major complaints, but I felt it was slightly overpriced, as the room was fairly small. But it was a good price for the location.

Review 22:The staff was very friendly, and the location was perfect. I was close to bus stops, food, breweries/tap houses, and Waterfront Park There was a small fridge and a microwave. The room was clean, and the bed was good. And there is a lounge connected to the building that serves tapas/appetizers and drinks.

Review 23:The guy at the front desk was rude to multiple people and wasn't very friendly

Review 24:Liked the room, it was nicely decorated and wasn't generic like all the chain hotels.

Review 25:I had tried to change my reservation from two nights to one night my modifying by reservation through Booking.com, however, the site said the minimum stay was two nights and my reservation couldn't be modified. So, I contacted the hotel (through my Booking.com reservation) and they gladly changed the reservation to one night (that's a positive on the hotel's part). However, upon check-in, the guy at the front desk told me I shouldn't have changed my reservation that way (even though on the hotel's end I was changed to one night stay) and gave my husband and me a lecture about how we should have changed the reservation (I explained three times how I did change my reservation through Booking.com....) - and then he dramatically stated over and over "but, it's fine! It's fine!" The walls are relatively thin and we could hear a neighbor's dog whining through the night. There is very little on-site parking, so we were directed to park at Ruby 2, which is 3 blocks away. I don't think I should have had to pay for on-site parking when I had to park 3 blocks away...

Review 26:Very clean. Good location.

Review 27:Stale smell in room. Lighting not bright enough in parts of the room. Would trade the microwave for a coffeemaker in room.

Review 28:Great location. Funky decor. Front desk very friendly. Parking very reasonable. Love the fridge in room. Shower is beautiful. Breakfast was decent. Would like to see more fresh fruit.

Review 29:We liked everything, except the parking. We would also have liked to know about the added $5 parking fee, which we have never had to pay before, even in Europe.

Review 30:Seems silly to charge $5 for parking. Just add it into the price of the room when you advertise the price. Get there early if you want to park in their lot.

Review 31:Great location downtown. Clean and convenient with a nice staff. Rooms are small and the bathroom is tiny so take this into account for an extended stay. Great bartender in the lounge!!

Review 32:The beds were not that soft and we had to park offsite at the Ruby 2.

Review 33:Loves the art theme. Even the parking garage had art inside. Liked the modern style of the room decor. Really enjoyed the bar and the twofer drink coupon.

Review 34:It was alittle tired looking, but overall it was great value for the price.

Review 35:Excellent location, the modern feel with the art was nice, the price was great value considering that the hotel is right downtown.

Review 36:The room smelt like old stale cigarettes. It woke me up a few times in the night. There was not a way to escape the smell unless you left the room which I did real early in the am and woke my sister up. We kept the bathroom door closed and when I went in to use it the next morning, it smelt like someone had used it and forgot to turn the fan on.

Review 37:I thought the room was smartly stylish. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was newly remodeled. The location was good if you were going to the Bing Crosby Theatre to watch Bruce Hornsby. Or going to see Harry Connick JR at the Fox Theatre that night.

Review 38:The room was a bit small but it worked for our one night stay.

Review 39:Fun bright decor, the guy at the front desk was friendly and accommodating. They were glad to provide a pack n play for our little boy to sleep in. I loved the location and the parking lot view is so cool.

Review 40:AC was turned on at a way too low temperature before we arrived.

Review 41:Renovated room directly in downtown. It was a stop between Glaier NP and Cascade NP. Bar/Restaurant was good for a small bite in the evening. Nice breakfast in the Bar/Restaurant. Downtown worth a short walk. Number of parking place very limited, but they hae an overflow. We haven't been disturbed by the noise of trains.

Review 42:TV channel selection is poor. Breakfast offerings are ho-hum, behind the curve compared to what other hotels now offer. A duvet - rather than a separate sheet and light blanket - was too warm.

Review 43:Location in downtown Spokane is a big plus. Older hotel has been renovated. Rooms have amenities like refrigerator, microwave and iron. Heat pump is quiet. A bar on the premises is nice. Overall good value

Review 44:Smallest room I have ever stayed in. In room hair dryer didn't work. There was no free parking but they did have parking about 2 blocks away for $5.00.

Review 45:If you like a 60s look this is the place.

Review 46:The second story rooms are three stories up. The rooms are tiny with little room to walk around.

Review 47:The rooms were so cute. updated and artsy. The hotel was located in walking distance of the Riverfront Mall and all the major theatres. We don't drink but even the bar attached to the hotel was cute and looked comfy.

Review 48:Internet wasn't working. There simply is no excuse for a hotel in 2015 to have inadequate bandwith

Review 49:price, location, ease of everything, very friendly staff, very clean.

Review 50:Parking lot, very small. Breakfast was poor, meager supply of stale cereal, coffee and oranges. Closet had a curtain instead of a door. Toilet was industrial.

Review 51:Location

Review 52:The wifi was out the night I got there and wasn't up until morning. Parking is tough if it's full.

Review 53:In the heart of the city so many things to do. Was only in town for a few hours and needed a place to rest my head. Affordable, relatively clean and modern.

Review 54:I didn't like the fact that there was not enough parking around there hotel and that I had to walk a block with my bags to their other hotel where my vehicle was at

Review 55:That it was downtown close to where we were going out to eat and to the clubs where in walking distance

Review 56:Bed was great when I slept alone..but two adults in our bed was too small and we woke up all nignt. Remember your ear plugs as the train goes buy outside the door all night. But other then that was good.

Review 57:Every room is on second floor or above - there is an elevator.

Review 58:Great location right downtown, good price, very secure, nice art, not your typical cookie-cutter chain, cheap parking at $5

Review 59:The bathroom could use a little sprucing up and I wish there was more than a desk chair to sit on.

Review 60:Hotel Ruby was comfortable and close to everything downtown. I didn't even mind having to go to the lobby for coffee in the morning. The staff were helpful and extremely nice. I will definitely stay again.

Review 61:Not only was the noise and vibration from passing trains enough to keepus from sleeping, the people in the next room (which was directly abovethe reception) shouted and argued inside and outside their room tillgone 4 in the morning and although the hotel was aware of it, they didabsolutely nothing to stop it. And to rub salt into our already, halfclosed, sleep deprived eyes, when we complained on check-out, they hadthe audacity to tell us we should have complained at the time if we werelooking for a reduction on the room rate. No apology, no offer of arefund (until I persisted), no back up for genuine, respectable payingguests. So, if you want somewhere quiet, safe and comfortable to stay, don't stay here.

Review 62:we had a hard time with the noise,, we could hear the couple above us :) at 2 am,,,, and others walking up and down to their rooms after 1 am,, it was a Friday nite ,, I get that,, just kinda loud for the top $

Review 63:the bed was awesome,, slept really well, nice clean room, friendly staff

Review 64:The room was tiny and would like to see some fruit for the breakfast.

Review 65:The art was fantastic in the room and though out the hotel. The staff was very friendly.

Review 66:WiFi was a little spotty (we brought some work up with us), but other than that, everything was great.

Review 67:The staff was very welcoming, first and foremost. The room was neat and tidy, and the inclusion of breakfast was a huge plus. We came for a concert so the location was absolutely perfect. Should I need to visit Spokane again I'll know exactly where to stay.

Review 68:Some selfish noisy guests on the stairs late at night.

Review 69:Great central location and cheap parking onsite near the Bing Theatre where we went for a film festival. We enjoyed the wine and flatbread pizzas at the sapphire bar too Good and friendly service. Definitely worth a return visit!

Review 70:The room had a very musty smell. I spilled some water on the carpet and went to clean it with a towel. Just dabbing the towel on to wipe it and the towel turned black. Dirty carpets and very uncomfortable beds. Nice idea transforming the motel to a hotel but needs a lot of work.

Review 71:Location was good and the staff was very nice!

Review 72:The building, however, is older, with exterior walkways for access to rooms like you will find with many older motels. I would prefer that my window not look out no that walkway, but that is just a personal privacy issue.

Review 73:If access to the greater downtown of Spokane is important, the location of this hotel is excellent. The room was clean, well kept, and modernized, and included a microwave and a mini-fridge.

Review 74:They could have had more interesting food at the continental breakfast.

Review 75:We enjoyed the location, the rooms felt modern and the fact you could rent bikes was cool.

Review 76:Rooms are pretty small, but that didn't really concern us since they were so clean! The main downfall for me was the train, it was pretty loud all night. The bathroom is pretty small, the toilet is very very low to the ground which could be really hard for some people to use. The tub/shower is pretty small. Honestly though, these things are not really a deal breaker or a big deal. I feel like the good things far out weigh any "cons".

Review 77:The staff was wonderful, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Review 78:Intelligent use of carpet on stairs so you weren't disturbed by other guests Great decor in rooms Superpower value for money, one of the best motels I've stayed at.

Review 79:WiFi connection was not great.

Review 80:All staff from front desk to cleaning were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy. Bathrooms need remodeling as they are outdated compared to the room itself. However, it was not bothersome to personal enjoyment of my stay. Just something to note that could use improvement in the future. Breakfast was great. Location is perfect! Everything you need and then some for price. Artwork and modern feel really make this a great place!

Review 81:Rooms are not really what we expected after seeing the pics on booking.com. A railway is very nearby with big freighttrains passing very often so it's not that silent inside the rooms.

Review 82:Very friendly staff. Nice bar. Central location with a lot of nice bars and restaurants nearby.

Review 83:No chair in the room to sit on after a long drive. The shower is old and stained. Needs refinishing or replacement. No place to relax and enjoy a cigar.

Review 84:Location to downtown was ok.

Review 85:Parking is a little tight...but safe and secure. I like that they had a gate they close in the evening.

Review 86:Loved the décor, the rooms were spacious, the shower was a beauty and they provide bikes if you want to go for a bike ride around downtown Spokane!!

Review 87:Within 20 feet of 3 different bars. Noisy and loud with people, ambulances, police all hours of the night. Topped it off with thedumpster being emptied early morning. Very thin walls. Only 15parking spots??? Overflow parks a block away!! Not good arriving atnight and with two sleeping children!! Sketchy part of town. Tvconnection went in and out though out the morning. Continentalbreakfast comparable to most.

Review 88:Comfy beds, clean room, friendly desk staff. Decorations were pleasant.Good price.

Review 89:Everyone was enthusiastically giving it their best here. When we couldn't find parking in the Ruby's small lot, we parked at Ruby 2 about a block away right in front of the office. The equally friendly and enthusiastic staff member there told me that the places share facilities and soon Ruby 2 will have workout facility. Ruby 1 has laundry. We loved breakfasting in the hip Sapphire bar for the complimentary breakfast (pretty standard for this sort of thing) but great coffee and space raised the breakfast over the top. Rooms were clean and cool.

Review 90:The rooms are a bit dated and a few repairs are in order but we overlooked that based on the price

Review 91:Great value. Cool little hotel with a very trendy indoor/outdoor lounge. Location was really good and the staff was great.

Review 92:This is really a Motel with hall on outside. Noisy= loud a/c and busy train tracks behind building

Review 93:Central location in downtown Free bikes Modern, upbeat décor/artwork

Review 94:Difficult to find due to the confusing one-way street system. Better directions would help.

Review 95:I did not have to pay the $5 parking fee as this was not indicated in the booking. Extremely good staff.

Review 96:The room was stuffy and you could open the window. New windows would be nice but that is a big investment. Staff could be trained better for hospitality. Bathroom plumbing could be upgraded.

Review 97:The art! Clean and good beds.

Review 98:The wifi connection in the room was very poor, and didn't work most of the time. The continental breakfast was also very limited.

Review 99:The decor was very interesting. The beds were comfortable.

Review 100:The air conditioner is extremely noisy. Had to turn it off during sleep. Room is clean but quite small. Wifi sometimes needs to be reconnected. Breakfast is not comparable to other hotels. And we didn't pay attention to the $5 parking fee when we booked the hotel. Probably there are other better choices around that area.

Review 101:Room is stylish

Review 102:Bathrooms are a bit small. Had to park down the street in a huge snowstorm

Review 103:Location and funkiness

Review 104:Noisy next door neighbors, were late night talking. I could here everything.

Review 105:Breakfast options were lacking

Review 106:Lounge next door, modern decor, proximity to main district

Review 107:Noisy Location, thin walls

Review 108:Fantastic Room layout, friendly staff, great location for downtown activities

Review 109:Style. Architecture is fun and stylish. Grwat location. Off street parking. Grwat breakfast. Nice attached bar.

Review 110:Artsy, great cocktail lounge, free breakfast, convenient downtown location

Review 111:Great location and value.

Review 112:The rooms were small a bed too firm, otherwise great

Review 113:This is a really cute hotel. Clean, comfortable and a free breakfast to boot!

Review 114:The staff was really friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is right in downtown Spokane so you can just walk everywhere you need to.

Review 115:Parking sucks.

Review 116:Great staff friendly and helpful

Review 117:tv channel choices lacking; moldy windows

Review 118:location; fun atmoshphere

Review 119:Paying for parking

Review 120:Perfect down down location

Review 121:Friendly and helpful staff (even made tea for us at 11:00pm!), clean and comfortable rooms, cool decor.

Review 122:The sheets were over powering with the smell of bleach.

Review 123:The location

Review 124:Nothing

Review 125:What a fun place! Right downtown with a bunch of restaurants nearby. Staff was very friendly and the room was beautiful!

Review 126:Very noisy, bad parking, felt creepy

Review 127:Nothing to report.

Review 128:Very good location, friendly staff.

Review 129:colors, design, paintings, location,

Review 130:extra nightly parking cost

Review 131:location to downtown

Review 132:Parking could be an issue but we got there soon enough to avoid any problem.

Review 133:Great location and wonderful staff

Review 134:Parking extremely limited. Leave your car and walk.

Review 135:Easy walking distance to Riverfront Park, brew pub, etc.
