Reviews for Hotel Onkel Inn Torres de Copacabana

Review 1:My concern is that the upkeep of the hotel rooms needs to be better. The rooms show small signs of wear and tear. None of these impacted the enjoyment of the stay negatively however it is about guest impressions.

Review 2:The Staff were very upfront with issues the hotel was having the day we arrived. They addressed and made recommendations. The views from the rooms and layouts are excellent.

Review 3:It's a bit for from the main street where you can find stores and restaurants, when we walk back from the main street in the night, there were a lot of wild dogs and no street light, made us uncomfortable. The 3 beds room actually is 2 beds (1 single and 1 queen size). Be ware.

Review 4:the lake view is fantastic, the style of the hotel is modern.

Review 5:Just a minor thing, the location of the hotel slightly far from the city centre of Copacabana and shops, hence you need to do bit of walking, but in context of small place like Copacabana, i guess it is considerably reasonable.

Review 6:- The hotel ambience was very modern and chic, with contemporary design overlooking the lake from huge window room. - the staffs were very helpful and the owner was always willing to help with travel tips and ways to make my stay more comfortable - the breakfast was adequate and variety - the extensive cable TV channel which was very accomodating - very comfortable bedding and room ambience (with heater) which allowed for very sound sleep

Review 7:The location is quite far away from the Main Street. Street light is scarce, so we needed to catch taxi at night. Even though the hotel is relative new, the place is already fell into disrepair. The toilet seat cracked and pinched a good amount of my tigh. The bathroom ceiling is falling off and same case with the blinds.

Review 8:The building is relatively new, really helpful staffs and modern looking room

Review 9:It is quite a ways from the action. Walking home after dark is sketchy. Along waterfront, no street lights, pitch black, stray dogs.

Review 10:Comfortable, good breakfast, waterfront

Review 11:Light sensitive people should take night goggles along cause it's very difficult to darken the giant windows with the wonderful view completely. Credit cards at this date not accepted bur everything else was so great that we didn't really care. For what is offered it's a incredible attractive rate!

Review 12:Wonderful location with fantastic views to the lake and the small town. Mr. Danilo and Mr. Julio giving great service and give any help needed. Also the Penthouse style room of myself and the normal one of my friend have been very beautiful and even luxurious.

Review 13:The wifi was intermittent. There was no hot water at one stage and we lost power during a storm. Some maintenance is required on the apartments

Review 14:Location, nice king size bed.

Review 15:Concrete structure lacked sympathy with environment. Suggest paint trees on side to blend and blue horizontals to blend with sky and lake. Put loads of plants in courtyard and roses along wall. Clean car park. The it will be nearly perfect!

Review 16:Room with a view.

Review 17:Both the toilet seats were broken in the two bathrooms and not fixed during our stay. There is also an issue with ants entering the room and finding crackers in a closed box-even though we were four floors up.

Review 18:Loved the place, the view and the yummy breakfasts. There are nice little touches like fresh flowers in the living room and bathrooms.

Review 19:The floors/ ceilings were quite thin so we could hear every footstep from the room above which wasn't ideal.

Review 20:The guy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I was also unwell during our stay and he allowed us to have a late check out. Would definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.

Review 21:It's not possible to pay by credit card. One needs to sleep with eyepads, because the blinds don't close properly; Light still gets in.

Review 22:The room is amazing, and the view is stunning. It's very quiet, perfect for relaxing at the Lake Titicaca

Review 23:Nothing much we didn't like. Only breakfast could have been better and the big windows create a problem of privacy as people walking by can easily see inside.

Review 24:The view! All rooms have full lake view from different angles. Rooms are clean and the staff is extremely helpful. It gets a bit cold during the night but a heater is provided so not much of a problem. If you are in Copacabana for the lake, then this place is the way to go.

Review 25:Everything was probably really nice 5 years ago. Big paint stains on windows and really cold room. Breakfast was a little sad. Overall only small things (and normal for southamerika) but way to expensive for that.

Review 26:Nice panorama view of the lake and comfortable bed and couches

Review 27:Don't have restaurant services.

Review 28:Good price. Very nice view and very comfortable room. Quiet place. Good attention to details. The personal made arrangement for transportation from Los Altos airport and the taxi

Review 29:Cleaning was a bit so-so and the room was freezing cold during the night. There was not alot of hot water available.

Review 30:The view. The staff. Value for money.

Review 31:Cold shower, far from down town (staff could not call a taxi because he didn't have cellphone only the manager), they don't have anything to eat at night and they can't help you with a delivery. They try to be a fancy hotel but with basic mistakes of service. Suggestion: try a more topical hotel

Review 32:Very beautiful hotel

Review 33:location

Review 34:AMAZING hotel for price and the staff were so Friendly!!!!! Location is poor for restaurants and stuff but i would still stay here again because its so luxury for the price

Review 35:The complex is a 15 minute walk along a gravel/dirt road from the central area, and it is isolated. The complex is only 2 years old, but much of it is still unfinished and a bit of a construction zone. The suites are very modern, but paint is peeling from the ceilings, and windows are taped up, I assume that construction methods used were not top quality.

Review 36:The suites face onto the lake, and the view is spectacular.

Review 37:It was very cold, even with a space heater at night. Also, it is not close to the center of town. Taxis are not easy to get in this small town.

Review 38:The views are amazing.

Review 39:poor wireless network coverage and lack of a hair dryer in the bathroom

Review 40:We like very much the location of the hotel, the nice design of the building and the genleness of Jose, the manager. An oasis in the desert of abuse that characterize local residents, rudes and opportunists.

Review 41:A bit too far from town (15 min walk) and no restaurants nearby.

Review 42:Lovely hotel, beautiful views, really helpful owner, nice peaceful location, fresh fruit for breakfast.

Review 43:Jose, the manager went above and beyond with his customer service, he was very friendly and helpful. The views from the common areas and our room were stunning (all rooms have water views), the room was very clean, with a heater and warm, comfortable beds. The shower was also great.

Review 44:Hotel is not finished - works need to be completed and already some minor hiccups with completed parts. Although advertised, need to pay in cash is a nuisance (and first time it happened to me in Bolivia). Breakfast could be more generous.

Review 45:Good location - out of town but great view and town not appealing anyway. Nice design concept. Owner friendly and helpful.

Review 46:Place looks like it's only 95% complete. Shower fixtures fell off wall in room 4-1. No view on first floor units for solo travelers. Had to demand unit with view. Additional few dolor a day cost well worth it.

Review 47:The view, Modern facility.

Review 50:Wi-Fi was not working. However, Danilo was kind to share his internet while in the lobby. Also taxis would take at least 15 minutes to get to the hotel since it is not located in the center of this small town.

Review 51:It is a new building, the rooms are spacious and clean and its a great price for what you get.

Review 52:The internet could be a tiny bit better. Emphasize "tiny"

Review 53:When they found out it was my 21st they upgraded us to the top floor pent house. Which is by far the best hotel we have stayed in with a loft and 2 story full window display of lake Titicaca. This hotel is better than a 5 star in Lima or Vancouver

Review 54:Danilo is really great and helpful. It's a bit far from the center but it is so tranquil so if you're not into partying or noise, it's perfect. The rooms are very sleek and modern which was a nice change from dark dingy hostels. Worth to pay more for true rest.

Review 55:We asked for a family room for five people, and we agree to pay the price that it was in booking.com, that it was already very expensive. But when ask for the bill they demand us to pay two extra beds!!! Beware! the rooms are maximum for four people, if you ask bigger room they will offer you a sofa-bed that it is the most uncomfortable option for sleep, I rather sleep in the floor!!! Beds and pillows are also uncomfortable.

Review 56:The rooms have a nice view of the lake, it is located outside the town center, so it is quiet. Breakfast it is just OK.

Review 57:If you're a traveller looking for a nice place, which isn't too pricey. Highly recommend. Beautiful room. Decent location. Great views. Wi-fi is slow. It's slow in the whole country though. So don't complain.

Review 58:At night, It was really cold. but you can ask the manager to bring a heater.

Review 59:I was there after 2 weeks trip including dirty bathroom and several nights in moving bus and broken beds...and so on. But this hotel had extreme modern style facilities and wonderful view for Titikaka lake and was very clean. So I could see the lake while sitting on the clean couch. Also their breakfast was good, too.

Review 60:The manager changed our room wirhout asking and moved our stuff incl. underwear. Both rooms were too cold and dusty for the price.

Review 61:Rooms over the 1st floor have a gorgeos view over the lake!

Review 62:The rooms are very confortable, clean and spacious. The views from the room directly to the lake are amazing. Since the location is not directly in the main street, it is really quiet and calm thus a great place to relax.

Review 63:bugs, small flies everywhere in the room stairs are falling apart - they move when you step on them windows don't fit the frames so bugs are constantly flying in/out of the room - tape has been placed over the gap between the window and the frame The shower/water pressure was good and warm, but the actual shower head was broken over-priced by 2x. This hotel is worth half of what we were charged

Review 64:Manager/Staff friendly and helpful Breakfast was tasty Lake view is excellent

Review 65:The surrounding grounds are still a bit of a building site, but that wasn't a problem for us as no noise or anything.

Review 66:We were on our honeymoon & so the hotel gave us the nicest room on the top floor, loads of space, big floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake, beautiful! Could spend hours sitting on the couch looking out at it! Altho it does mean there's a lot of blinds to close at night!

Review 67:Quite a bit away from town Unlit walk along the beach (feels scary but is probably ok) Building work disrupted our morning and site is unfinished Breakfast wasnt great

Review 68:Right on beautiful beach Friendly and helpful staff Great design/views but lacks top quality finish -will probably wear very quickly Spacious rooms

Review 69:Great design but lacks quality finishing. Windows have a draft and finish on building work shows.

Review 70:Liked the views from the room and the manager was very helpful. Really enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Just not sure how long it will last..

Review 71:Having stayed in hostel after hostel while traveling around South America, this little spot was a piece of heaven during our stay in Copacabana. The modern loft was a great treat and Danilo was so incredibly friendly and helpful.

Review 72:wifi is slow, but you will not find fast internet anywhere in the area. i am sure they will upgrade when possible. the bed's bottom sheet was not fitted so it would slide off the mattress easily.

Review 73:we stayed a couple of nights during 09/14. the place is wonderful. all rooms have a great lake view all around. comfortable good sized bed, clean facilities and all the necessary to make for a very pleasant stay. on the day of our departure there blockades in the roads leading to la paz, danilo the manager was incredibly helpful, with directions, instructions and information. all throughout our stay he was a formidable host and helped us with anything we needed. would definitively come back!

Review 74:What was not so good Dreadful wi if, dropped out all the time and when it didn't it was so slow. Didn't change towels in bathroom Hot water took 4 to 5 mins to arrive. Breakfast was abysmal, but that's nothing different from my experience in Bolivian hotels, (except hostal de us meced) in sucre While no noise from the street, the rooms are in towers and you can hear the guests in the room above,

Review 75:What was good New and modern, big comfortable beds, and English language movies on TV, Host was very helpful. It's right on the lake, so it was nice to sit on the veranda and chill. 1.3 km from the town centre so it was only a 10 minute (safe) walk to the centre of town and this meant it was quite at night.

Review 76:I feel bad for writing this based on the owner being so nice! The Hotel Onkel has so much potential, but there are many hiccups that need to be addressed (which is why I believe the rates are so low). Wifi does not always work and when it does it is extremely slow (slower than the typical connection in Peru). I wasn't able to shower because there was no hot water when we were up. It finally was available around 10am but by then I had dressed and packed. Unfortunately, the rooms were not finished to the high standards that I'm sure the owner envisioned. There water marks, peeling paint, ill fitted windows (gaps letting cold air in!), etc. Like I said so much potential!

Review 77:Very inexpensive. Rooms are large and modern with a wonderful view of Lake Tititcaca. Although no heat in the rooms, a small electric heater was provided, which we greatly appreciated. The owner is a very hospitable man, who was helpful. The resident cat Gordo (but not for everyone!).

Review 78:Hotel room floor was dirty when we entered and i think that hygiene is a problem in general in this hotel. Even though hotel looks quite new it is already falling apart - there were cables hanging from ceiling, there was some floor missing just behind the entry door, there was a problem opening smaller windows. During our stay there were quite annoying construction works in progress. Hotel backyard and surrondings are full of garbage. Wifi connection was not working or worked really poorly. "Our delicious breakfast" is just mediocre. This hotel is simply not worth the money, go somewhere else.

Review 79:Location on the shore of the lake could be spectacular if it would not be filled with garbage.

Review 80:I liked everything about this hotel:)

Review 81:We stayed at this hotel for three nights during our travel in Bolivia in August 2014, and it was a great Experience! The staff was extremely nice and helpful; they offered all the service we needed. The room was extraordinary and spectacular, with windows nearly all around the "tower", and the view over the Titicaca Lake was amazing. Everything was nice and clean, and the bathrooms were modern, with lot of hot water. The location was also great, with the beach and the lake view, and for us it was a ten minutes walk into the center of Copacabana. We will highly recommend Hotel Onkel Inn Torres to anyone who is looking for a nice and secure place to stay in Copacabana !!

Review 82:Still finishing some amenities, but great potential there.

Review 83:Views, unique pleasant rooms, good friendly staff. Walking distance from town, but without any noise

Review 84:It is still a building site outside the perfect room. the WiFi was nonexistent even in the lobby, and the electricity cut out sometime in the night, leaving me to wake up with an empty phone battery and a cold shower. Was a little further down the beach than the main attractions (only 5 minutes).

Review 85:For the price we paid (around $40) it was the nicest interior of any hotel room I've ever seen. the bathroom was gorgeous, the sheets and mattress were 5 star, and the view was spectacular.

Review 86:Nothing

Review 87:Great manager, was willing to help with everything. Fantastisch room, 4th floor the place to be. Be minimum of 3 nights here, you won't be dissapointed.

Review 88:Brand new hotel already starting to fall apart, 15 min walk out of town at a plot still looking like a building site.

Review 89:Extremely nice and helpful guy at the reception. Big rooms with nice view of the lake. Very quiet.

Review 90:As other reviews have mentioned, there is still construction going on (and you'll notice little things that need to be done). I also found the wifi to be nearly impossible to connect to - but I've experienced this throughout Bolivia.

Review 91:Wonderful location. Outside of the main touristy area so you don't have to deal with the hostel crowd and tour busses. It also has a really amazing view. Pleasant and Friendly Staff. Breakfast was a nice addition. Good value compared to the more expensive hotels in the area.

Review 92:The walk from town but it was worth it for the tranquility it offered.

Review 93:We stayed here in June 2014. They looked after us so well. The hotel is down the beach away from main street and is so well maintained. We loved the views and the privacy it offered. After doing the salkantay trek in Peru it was heavenly. The rooms are so spacious and modern with great facilities. Staff were lovely and very helpful. We had an amazing time. We hope to be back.

Review 94:A little bit out of the way from the main town. The beach front is poorly lit towards the hotel, bring a torch. The buildings still needs some cosmetic work.

Review 95:The ocean view, hot showers, good breakfast. The owner went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable at all times.

Review 96:Can't pay by credit card Building is old and not well maintained Lot of noise Not very nice area

Review 97:Staff is nice View

Review 98:Stunning accomodation Amazing views right on beach of lake titikaka Good breakfast Helpful staff

Review 99:The hot water in the shower didn't work most of the time.

Review 100:Jose was a great host. He was extremely helpful and full of information.

Review 101:Lack of a restaurant

Review 102:Fantastic rooms at a great location. The administrator was very helpful going well beyond his duties to assist us.

Review 103:Splendid view with the room overlooking the lake. Rooms furnished with style. Professional, kind staff. Massimo and Roberta

Review 104:internet wasn't great.

Review 105:Wonderful view. Nice short walk from centre. Relaxed and helpful staff.

Review 106:Shabby. Seemed to be doing bare minimum

Review 107:Big rooms and modern design

Review 108:Bad wifi quality inside and outside of the rooms.

Review 109:Really comfortable for the country. Nice personnel. Breakfast is correct.

Review 110:All the rooms are overlooked and the whole place looks and feels half finished

Review 111:The view of the lake is nice

Review 112:It can be a little far from the town center.

Review 113:The manager was so friendly and helpful. Plus his little dog was super friendly.

Review 114:A bit far of a walk to town.

Review 115:Beautiful setting on shores of lake Titicaca. Great views from room.

Review 116:Great value, great views, amazing service... Denillo is the best! We highly recommend this hotel.

Review 117:A little far from main plaza so you need to plan the transportation, a little more breakfast would be suggested

Review 118:Peaceful quiet great view

Review 119:It was not in town. It was away from central part of town. Had to take taxi.

Review 120:Overlooking the shore.

Review 121:Far away, long distance from the centre, restaurants.

Review 122:Staff very polite and helpful, also room very clean and spacious.

Review 123:The service was excellent, the lead staffer was incredibly gracious

Review 124:The quietness and the beautiful views.

Review 125:a little problem with moist in the walls

Review 126:location, friendly and helpfull personnel, ...

Review 127:A long walk along the beach. An unfinished hotel already showing signs of wear. A cold room.

Review 128:A friendly owner. A good view of the lake.

Review 129:Freezing temp at night- not enough sheets/ blankets for the night

Review 130:A little bit far from the center (10min walk- at night a little scary)

Review 131:Modern and comfortable room. Nice Staff

Review 132:Friendly staff, modern and comfortable room, good breakfast.

Review 133:Location on the beach, very helpful staffs, clean room & nice beds.

Review 134:We could borrow DVD's for free, really nice staff, quiet hotel, nice view to the lake, good breakfast
