Reviews for Graduate Tempe
Review 1:Check-in personnel answered several phone calls while I waited to get my room key (I had already checked in on line). Normal Diner (on-site restaurant) had terrible service at both dinner and breakfast. At 8am, when almost every table was taken, only 1 server and 1 person to clean tables. One elevator out of order (no one was working on repairs).
Review 2:Great location for shows at Gammage Auditorium on ASU campus.
Review 3:Airport shuttle service. Friendly, 'hip' (in a good way) staff, excellent bar and restaurants! Short walk to Mill Ave. These people have thought of everything.
Review 4:No coffee available in morning. Instead diner next door which was cold and old. For the $$ should at least have coffee available. Also there is a $6 per day parking fee that was NOT listed anywhere on their site!!
Review 5:Location
Review 6:The air-conditioning unit was right next to the bed and as it was so hot we had to have it on for the majority of the night. This was very noisy and interrupted our sleep but it is a design flaw which wouldn't be easily fixed.
Review 7:The rooms were very quaint and were not large but very adequate for our stay. We were on the bottom floor and had access to an outside area which would have been great if it wasn't too hot to sit out there. We liked that there was a small fridge in our room. The staff were always helpful and friendly. I loved the fact that the bellboys picked you up from the airport and were happy to drive you anywhere within 3 miles during your stay. The free Wi-Fi was very good. The location across from the university was perfect for us as I was settling my daughter into ASU.
Review 8:Other hotels at this price and below offer free continental breakfast. Our balcony was covered in bird poop each day. The staff quickly had it cleaned up on the first day but we didn't mention it after that. The shower soap dispensers are pathetic. Stinky low quality products that are impossible to get out of the old dispensers. Nowhere to put a bar of soap and barely enough pressure to wash my hair.
Review 9:The nostalgic feel and decor. The proximity to ASU. The beds were very comfortable and the balcony, when clean, was nice. The free airport shuttle was really great.
Review 10:Elevator were broken. Forced to use stairs or service elevator. Door keys didn't work initially.
Review 11:Very close proximity to ASU. Beautiful pool and bar. Diner had good food.
Review 12:Could use a small shop for necessities. But heard that's in the works. Pool was a little green. Shouldn't have to pay for parking. Although it was nominal.
Review 13:Location to asu. Staff very pleasant. Cleanliness
Review 14:They didn't serve breakfast, had to go to the relatively expensive diner nextdoor
Review 15:Really nice hotel, friendly staff, centrally located near the ASU, with nice pool, clean and comfortable rooms, renting out bicycles and good value for money!
Review 16:Things were so stylish that they were impractical or difficult to use. The very stylish shower had one fixed glass panel and a wide opening with no door. very stylish but it let a ton of water out into the bathroom. The Wifi was very weak and had very low bandwidth. The light fixtures were very modern but it was hard to find their switches.
Review 17:the hotel was very stylish, trendy and modern with a college theme
Review 18:Decor and cleanliness. The Graduate has pulled their corporate identity together in a way that is upbeat, fun and unique. At 63 I am probably on the older end of your typical guest list, but the other than ordinary vibe is appreciated. Clean and friendly.
Review 19:PLEASE don't change out my towels every day. I'd like to take advantage of the environmental option! Also...needed washcloths.
Review 20:I really appreciated the unique theme and attention to details. Staff was super responsive.
Review 21:I booked last minute on Booking.com, and staff put me in a room located directly behind front desk on first floor. The late night crowds at cantina next door used hotel lobby often, and were so loud I hardly slept the two nights I stayed here. Make sure you ask about room location; you don't want to stay in first floor rooms behind front desk!
Review 22:Loved location, décor, cleaniness, friendly staff, delicious cantina next door, pool, patio behind hotel, Normal Diner for breakfast.
Review 23:Right across the street from Frank Lloyd Wright's Grady Gammage Auditorium at ASU, near the south central corridor of campus. On a main street but quiet. Bed was new and very comfortable; not large rooms, but well furnished and practical. Nice bathroom. Quiet -- no noise from street or other guests. Nice-looking bar and restaurant although I didn't have time to try them. Pleasant staff.
Review 24:Very funky. They could have spent a little more on the renovations in the common areas, but I'm just being picky. I enjoyed the hotel bar and attached restaurant. I would stay here again if I had business at ASU.
Review 25:loved the bed and amenities. I liked the hotel bar and attached restaurant. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is across the street from ASU where I was working, so super convenient. Hotel and property felt very safe
Review 26:Poor security. Hotel side entrance was unlocked 24/7. Poor handling of power outage by staff. No one came around to tell guests what was happening. In the dark for half an hour during peak eve hour.
Review 27:Proximity to Normal Diner and ASU.
Review 28:The bathroom needs a shower door. Every time any of us showered the whole bathroom floor was covered in water making us always have to waste a towel for the floor.
Review 29:We loved the location not to mention the overall hotel was amazing! We really enjoyed everyone at your hotel from the front desk to the bar. Ean was great and super friendly. I can't wait to plan our next trip back to Tempe!
Review 30:Your stay is on the edge of a best Western in both bedding and other subtle potential downsides. Pillows sheets towels soaps, even some of the other touches that could have been extraordinary, we're at best good, at worst felt very cheap.
Review 31:The hotel itself has an amazing feel. You get a sense right away that something is special about where you're going to stay. The ambience and decorations give you a sense of boutique hotel the minute you drive up to the 1968 exterior. From there the field is consistent. Clean, nicely decorated rooms make you feel at home.
Review 32:The receptionist, dark hair girl, she was a bit rude. Didn't make eye contact or respond to my positive comment about the hotel. She completely ignored me.
Review 33:Decor, location, beds, view, smell, and building quality.
Review 34:Bathroom was a little on the small side, but only a very minor point.
Review 35:The beds were very comfortable and the decor was really great. It had been recently renovated and it was refreshing to go to a hotel with a difference. The staff were really friendly and the bar staff and the staff in the diner adjacent to the hotel were great. I would definitely stay there again when next in Phoenix.
Review 36:it took too long for the cold water turn hot. The glass on the shower stall wasn't far enough over that the floor in the bathroom didn't get wet.
Review 37:The rooms are on the small side. Also on day two are room was not made up.
Review 38:Grand Tempe has it all. style, comfort and all the classy amenities of a high and end resort for a steal! Excellent customer service great food and drinks from the bar or the cafe...oh and don't forget the lounge at the hot tub and pool area!
Review 39:The room was a little bit small, but how much room do you need?I didn't really like the rum body wash. It actually smelled like rum...And I don't want to smell like rum.
Review 40:The night staff couldn't have been more helpful. The room was incredibly clean, and the bed and pillows were perfect!
Review 41:Elevator broken twice during stay. Wifi down the day of arrival. No signal in our room though wifi advertised throughout property
Review 42:we liked the hotel very much. Great location, comfy beds, clean and spacious rooms. liked the hot tub, bar and nearby diner
Review 43:Nothing at all. It was all nice.
Review 44:Went with my brother and some friends to check out the university. Excellent staff, clean and ciche rooms. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 45:On our first night we didn't have hot water in the shower, only in the hand basin and on our second day we didn't have hot water in the shower.
Review 46:I loved the decor, the quirky room keys, all the staff were so friendly and helpful
Review 47:Permanent buss what we unfortunately recognized when we were already between the sheets. A wet corner in the room what we also first recognized when we packed our bags.
Review 48:Center of Tempe in walking distance. Modern furnished and bright rooms. Huge bath. Fast WiFi. Friendly staff.
Review 49:No creamer to go with the excellent in-room coffee. Nothing to complain about.
Review 50:Love the art and imaginative décor. Staff were knocking themselves out to provide service and personal attention -- nearly all referred to us by name within two hours of our arrival. Gave personal tours of areas of the hotel and offered tours of the city. Best room lighting of any hotel I've ever stayed in.
Review 51:Nothing.
Review 52:The staff were EXCELLENT and worked hard to accommodate us in any way. This in addition to creating a professional atmosphere. -Honey Ant display very neat too!
Review 53:The hotel charged me more than what I was quoted and then triple charged my credit card when trying to fix their mistake. The hotel said they would fix and call me back and I never heard from them. I tried calling them and leaving them a message and did not get a call back. I had to call my bank to file a claim. I would never recommend this hotel because the cleaning staff forgot to clean our room and the customer service at the end of the trip was very unprofessional. Any place that cannot handle their guests money is not a place I would go back too.
Review 54:When I stayed there, some areas were still under construction (the pool and one of the restaurants) so I was a little bummed. However, once the construction is over, I'm sure the place will be a huge hit. I'd definitely come back!
Review 55:I was staying in Tempe to take a very important exam (I'm from California) so I was really looking for a hotel that made me feel relaxed and at home. The Graduate Tempe did just that. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is right across the street from campus and there is an on campus Walmart that is within walking distance if you need any groceries or anything. (There was a fridge in the room). Although they have a complementary shuttle service, I didn't use it except to pick me up from the airport since there are so many places within walking distance. Also, I loved the Arizona theme in the room! The lobby is themed after Darwin and they even have an ant farm. Plus there are so many little discoveries around every corner. Make sure to try out their Malin & Goetz shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I felt so pampered on my trip. :)
Review 56:Quirky yet comfortable hotel adjacent to the beautiful ASU campus. Lots of fun!
Review 57:Extra $6.00/day parking fee unanticipated and offensive
Review 58:Basic rates are 10-15% too high
Review 59:I didn't find slipper there :(
Review 60:Actually the super big bed! And the long and colorful cushions!
Review 61:Use of Hotel bikes was fantastic. Staff very helpful, room perfect. Diner next door.
Review 62:Great sustainable idea by giving $5 back if we don't need new towels and room clean. We went to the restaurant which was excellent.
Review 63:Staff at Diner not happy.
Review 64:Funky fit out
Review 65:It was a little more than I usually like to pay but a good stay overall
Review 66:Had old stinky clothes left in bathroom. Had to pay parking
Review 67:The location
Review 68:The price, location, service.
Review 69:Noise from renovations was very disruptive, as was the noise from cleaning staff sometimes.
Review 70:Great staff.
Review 71:Bathroom was filthy (hair everywhere), elevators out, hot rooms, & cockroaches. It was not a good stay.
Review 72:Staff were helpful. The Diner was delish!
Review 73:Nada
Review 74:This was my second time and when go again, i'm staying there. Love the whole experience
Review 75:Maintenance on the day
Review 76:Maintenance noise of drilling in the wall. 6 dollars per day for car park
