Reviews for Wine Valley Inn

Review 1:Personally, the only thing I didn't like was that there was only one window you could open for fresh air. The room didn't smell bad, but it smelled kind of like attic. Anyways, still a great place :)

Review 2:It's a very pretty place to stay, and it's near a lot of bakeries and food places. So that's always nice!

Review 3:That the bed was not so comfortable, and the carpet looked old.

Review 4:We went there for my wife's birthday, they were kind enough to upgrade our room, she loved it so much because it remind her of Europe. Plus the fireplace was a plus!! The free breakfast was excellent, the people working at the breakfast really care for the cleanliness and keeping the food fresh.

Review 5:Theromastat didn't work but hotel gave us a $25 day discount for this problem

Review 6:Central location great to day trips to surrounding areas and vineyards

Review 7:Stayed in one of the cottages with a fireplace very nice, Great winebar and wonderful grounds. Perfect place to srart and end from to enjoy Christmas time in Solvang

Review 8:My husband and I wanted to go to Solvang for our wedding anniversary, and so we chose to stay at Wine valley Inn in one of their cottage suites. This place was straight out of a movie, the lighting in the garden at night was beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable, and the private hot tub was heated perfectly and clean. I would definitely stay here again!

Review 9:Overall the facility could use some updating; dirty/ old carpet needs replaced, door adjustments to prevent cold air and noise reduction, room chairs were not conducive to lounging, breakfast area was cold, eggs were cold

Review 10:Location was within walking to downtown shopping and strolls Building is very quaint Although my "what I didn't like" does not sound positive this facility has so much potential and was fine for 1 night

Review 11:Room tired, pillows horrible, not enough bedding for winter months. Heating unit on the wall was unsightly! Poor shower. TV too small for oversized room. Tiny frig placed on floor, very awkward to get into.

Review 12:Loved the location. Off the main road in the middle of town, walking distance to everything. I liked that breakfast was included in pricing.

Review 13:I've booked this same hotel every year and the staff never ask if you had a wonderful stay

Review 14:Complimentary breakfast. Centre of town Ground floor room Great winter ambience

Review 15:The guy helping others was friendly and helpful but the gal helping us just hardly gave us the time of day

Review 16:Location was great off the Main Street so quite. Nice Breakfast eggs sausage n hash browns

Review 17:The overhead light in the wine tasting area gave the room a cold feeling. I feel that lamps or candles on the tables would add more to the cozyness of the fireplace.. Also the showerhead was set too low for anyone over 5' 7".

Review 18:Loved the Inn and the grounds. Wine tasting and cheese were great. Our room was very clean an I loved the color scheme. Hoope to return soon

Review 19:Not the best view. Breakfast okay, but not more.

Review 20:In general nice hotel. Really nice winebar and bartender who worked there was enthusiastic and gave us good trip advices.

Review 21:Beds to small for me but I'm a big guy perfect for my wig an son

Review 22:The convenience the hotel was very close to old town so we could with our young child and where

Review 23:We had to move rooms twice. Once because the sink was clogged. The second time because there was smoke seeping into our room. The rooms are run down. Room 103 was bad. We had to put some makeshift curtains because passers-by could easily see into the room. The heater was not working. A portable heater needed to be brought in. The light switch was located on the far left of the tv. It was very hard to find in the dark.

Review 24:The staff was quick to move us to another room when there were problems with our room; both times. The location was great.

Review 25:3 room reservation, but 1 room in different building.to get closer together, a $20 charge per night.room wasn't worth it. outside lights very bright all night in room, loud music till 9:30pm no dresser in room

Review 26:There was a machine outside which was noisy and disturbed out sleep. The window was very dirty.

Review 27:The location is great. Breakfast was extensive. Our coffee maker wasn't working and staff replaced it right away.

Review 28:Overpriced for a cottage that needed a great deal of upgrading. Found cobwebs around the light fixture in shower and hair (not my own) on bathroom countertop. The TV had the worst picture i've ever seen on a flatscreen.

Review 29:The location was ideal as it was in the middle of Solvang with many eateries and wine tasting venues within walking distance.

Review 30:Room was awful. For $200/night I shouldn't be able to hear conversations in adjoining room. Ceiling tiles were old and dirty. Bathroom looked like something from a motel 6

Review 31:Proximity to shops

Review 32:Picturesque garden with streams, fountains, coi pond and bridges. Relaxing setting with outdoor fireplace. Cozy rooms with comfortable beds. Tasty breakfast. It was a very tranquil setting.

Review 33:Room was on 3rd floor; elevator only went to 2nd floor. Stairs were steep.

Review 34:Room was cute and comfy. Full breakfast; not just muffins and coffee. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Close to wineries and casino.

Review 35:The room was stuffy, no air in the room. The air conditioner didn't work.

Review 36:Everyone was very pleasant. The surroundings were tranquil. The wine tasting was great. Thank you.

Review 37:1.The front desk man is bit cold. People comes here for travel, why can't be a bit more friendly or warm? 2. this town is too small ( 10 min walks to end of town in all direction).

Review 38:breakfast is very sufficient!

Review 39:Front desk and website says free wine tasting only to find you do have to purchase to sip. The cheese and cracker plate wasn't too impressive considering a visit to Solvang.

Review 40:Grounds, location, wine tasting, pet friendly, terrific breakfast

Review 41:This hotel is just Motel, not any star hotel. Strongly require booking to clearly explain in their website. We are absolutely cheated by booking due to unclear and ambiguous information.

Review 42:We really enjoyed wine tasting with Jake. He was very helpful and helped us plan the rest of of trip. He was very knowable and friendly. We liked being centrally locatef

Review 43:The only thing we didn't like is that there is no elevator to the 3rd floor. Our room was originally on the 3rd floor but the staff was happy to accommodate us since I have physical limitations.

Review 44:Everything!

Review 45:Carpets are stained and furnishings are ok but dated. Need to upgrade furniture for better comfort. Would be good to add more hooks to hang clothes, towels, stuff.

Review 46:Perfect location, one block away from busy Mission street, plenty of parking by the cottages. Excellent, helpful staff...room was ready before regular check-in time. The 2 wine bottles priced reasonably from a nearby local winery.

Review 47:Reception staff members weren't very friendly or welcoming during check in.We werent tald where breakfast room was. They were talking to other guests while completely ignoring new guests,us during our check in time . Not a great experience. We werent given much information about hotel, breakfast room during check in because they were too busy chatting with checked out guests.During check in they just gave us keys while chatting to other guests.Very selective in who they pay attention and who they don't.

Review 48:Garden,breakfast,location

Review 49:Originally booked a king chateau which was very tired looking and on the ground floor and very noisy. Asked if we could be moved which they accommodated very well. This had nothing to do with the hotel but Solvang closes very early and was like a ghost town after 8.30pm

Review 50:Cute little hotel very close to main area of Solvang.

Review 51:sofa bed was terrible...even if it was for children. And we paid for 4 adults. but it was doable since they gave us roll-away bed.

Review 52:room with king bed was upgraded, spacious.

Review 53:Bedroom was small, dirty, dated/poorly furnished and felt more like a low rate motel. Asked for garden view, got neighbor's run down backyard full of bikes and coolers. Would not recommend or ever go back!

Review 54:The location to the town was good and away from traffic

Review 55:No bad experienced, just odd there was a $6 charge for wine tasting. Other places we have stayed have free wine tasting during happy hour.

Review 56:Great staff & customer service. Very pleasant, courteous & helpful.

Review 57:The location was perfectly centered in the midst of all that attracts visitors to Slovang. The decor and pathways within Wine Valley Inn were very charming.

Review 58:We liked the wine tasting , and the relaxing atmosphere, we had a nice time talking to Jake from your staff. He was a great host and very knowlegable young man. We enjoyed looking at the small garden from our room when looking out the window.

Review 59:nothing

Review 60:Great location and breakfast. Good service and comfortable environment. Beautiful gardens and nice 5: 00 p.m. wine and cheese gathering. Close to the P.C.P.A Festival Theater, shops and restaurants.

Review 61:The air conditioner was not on or was on extremely low during the night so the room was stuffy. The wine tasting was not really that. It was buying a glass of wine. Wine tasting to me means sampling several different types of wine. There also weren't enough glasses for the guests. They had to wait for them to be washed. Also if you paid cash for the wine you had to wait for change.

Review 62:The location and the friendliness of the staff.

Review 63:we found the staff consistently had "attitude" -- except Jennifer at breakfast in the dining room at breakfast. She was delightful... Almost made up for the sullenness of the others.

Review 64:Fabulous location.

Review 65:Beds are too small and soft, the rooms could take queen size beds, but double beds are far too small. No pool. Otherwise the decor was nice and the rooms were quiet.

Review 66:Location great, in walking distance to town and restaurants. Buildings lovely. Breakfast was good.

Review 67:Our room was on the second floor and was literally surrounded by corridors leading to other rooms. This meant we couldn't open the blinds and get any natural light / open the windows for air without people being able to see in through the large floor to ceiling windows (felt a bit like being in a zoo). Therefore it was quite dark and stuffy in the room. The bed was also quite creaky, leading to a poor nights sleep.

Review 68:The location of the property was great - right in the centre of Solvang. The staff were helpful, offering for us to change rooms when we were unhappy. The room itself was very large, and the bathroom was lovely. Also really enjoyed the breakfast.

Review 69:Beautiful garden, good breakfast. Room was not equipped for all guests, lacked enough pillows, blankets, and towels. Sofa sleeper was very uncomfortable.

Review 70:Had a little trouble with the wifi but not too disturbing.

Review 71:The staff was very upbeat and friendly. The bed was very comfortable especially the pillows. The location made it easy to do the shopping and eating.

Review 72:Took a shower before bed. Just getting up a couple of times during the night, my feet were black in the morning, gross The place is loud due to poor sound insulation

Review 73:The location was great

Review 74:We were disappointed in the town. It seems that many restaurants and almost all stores were closed that we would have enjoyed and they didn't open up early in the morning either. We got their too late and had to leave to early so we missed out.

Review 75:It was a very nice place to stay. We enjoyed the breakfast and the garden area. It was close to shopping.

Review 76:Solvang was a nice town in a beautiful part of the country. Our room was spacious and nice, and the wine tasting was excellent. Staff was also willing to recommend restaurants and things to do.

Review 77:Beautiful inn! Very quiet, the rooms were clean and smelled fresh! Plenty of room, nice amenities, a beautiful koi pond and garden. No swimming pool though, kind of a bummer. Breakfast was good, plenty of choices.

Review 78:Pleasant hotel in the perfect location. The facility is a little tired and could use more vigilant maintenance, but otherwise I would certainly recommend this spot.

Review 79:Location.

Review 80:Filthy carpet, our feet were BLACK after walking on it! No microwave or EMPTY fridge.

Review 81:The location was great, could walk to everything. Great hot breakfast.

Review 82:The pictures online were very nice versus the real life thing ,def not as luxurious . The ceiling was billowing from a ceiling leak and the floors/carpet had spots on them.

Review 83:We didn't have a bad experience.

Review 84:I loved the grounds - beautiful gardens with sitting areas. The king size bed was firm and very comfortable. The breakfast/coffee was very convenient. Thank you.

Review 85:Broken tv remote, worn out mattress, poor service, angry staff

Review 86:Perfect location for the theatre. breakfast food was OK, but the staff was confused and angry

Review 87:The room was disappointing. The carpet was stained everywhere and it was coming up and fraying on the edges. The sheets had some stains too. Not what you want to see when you are going to bed

Review 88:The rooms were much smaller than expected and the walls were very thin or poorly constructed..... We could hear our neighbors conversation at 1am, almost every word of it

Review 89:Perfect location, very friendly staff, beautiful little patios in front of most rooms, and decent selection of in room wine bottles.

Review 90:The included breakfast was delicious. The staff super friendly, and the location was perfect - close to all the happening spots while just off the beaten path.

Review 91:This property dates from the 1970's when stairs were popular. Not a good location if climbing stairs is a problem. Our room had the bed located on a loft. Thirteen stairs up and down if you need the bathroom. No air conditioning so sleeping area was very warm.

Review 92:Nicely located near all the shops, restaurants.

Review 93:King bed in the loft is extremely soft and sink badly. Sleeping on the sofa bed of the loft is literally sleeping on metal springs directly. Bathroom is very small with no place to hang towels or clothes.

Review 94:Great location within walking distance to town center and restaurants. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 95:Be aware of multiple stairs to some rooms on top floor. there is a lift half way.

Review 96:Breakfast was the best we had in any Inn in this travel. Rooms are romantic and comfortable.

Review 97:We stayed in the Chateau loft and found that it wasn't as "fancy" as the pictures seemed. This includes stains on carpeting and linens, a worn down coat of paint with splotches and missing artwork, and a bit dusty. A few renovations in the near future would be great for this otherwise lovely inn.

Review 98:I appreciated the location and staff of Wine Valley Inn the most. It is in a quiet location, but still right next to the main square of Solvang. We discovered a malfunction in the room that immediately affected our experience, but the staff was able to switch us rooms with no problem at all.

Review 99:My room was on the main floor and I could hear every passerby and person walking down the stairs. This made it difficult to stay asleep.

Review 100:I loved hearing the clocktower chime and walking around a very traditional Danish town that my hotel was conveniently located in.

Review 101:Bathroom was in disrepair: missing tiles, exposed wallboard, no ventilation, and very poor quality bathroom tissue; sofa seating very uncomfortable for 3 senior citizens to watch TV and relax, no extra seating in the 1st floor, upstairs bed sagged badly in the middle, and the desk clerk (checking in and out) were less than friendly - especially when I asked about AAA or Seniors Discount..

Review 102:The outside surfaces and mini-park were attractive.

Review 103:It's a loud party place, so if you are traveling with young kids - stay elsewhere. Then again, perhaps we just hit the wrong weekend, and the walls are paper thin. Either way, our cottage has not been updated in decades. And although spacious, the cottage was very dirty and dreary feeling.

Review 104:The location was not too bad.

Review 105:I am a large guy, 6' 2" 215 lbs. I found the bed to be to soft. I had a sore lower back due to the bed. My wife who is petite liked the soft bed.

Review 106:Location and staff were top.

Review 107:Gaps in wall with ac gaps in doors. Railings wobbly. Termite infested. Don't try to check in early unless your rich and old they catered to them. Continental breakfast was frozen food microwaved and old stale pastries. TV to small for room shower leaved to sitting area. Curtain on window doesn't cover completely. Curtain in shower didn't close all the way so you'll pretty much be cold in the shower. Wouldn't be bad if you only paid about $60 a night definitely not $133 a night worthy

Review 108:Coy fish

Review 109:Fan was unable to turn off completely, came on and off all day and night.

Review 110:We stayed in such a great room. Very spacious with high ceilings. Loved that there was actual real glasses in the room for our wine.

Review 111:Rooms are always a little unexpected with quirky touches and repurposed furniture. Staff is always very pleasant and helpful. Free breakfast is better than most. Our favorite place to stay in Solvang/Lompoc area.u

Review 112:Other than location, not much better than a chain style hotel. Would not stay there again. Extremely overpriced for what they had to offer. Shower/bathrooms felt like I was staying at a motel 6.

Review 113:Location was convenient to shops & restaurants.

Review 114:Their free "high-speed" Wi-Fi is extremely slow, at least in our room (the room was on the far end of the property).

Review 115:Location is perfect, as it isn't on a busy street and everything is just a short walk away. Staff was friendly and our room was spectacular. I was very impressed with the room (king deluxe room I think) and felt very relaxed. Breakfast was great considering it was complimentary. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Review 116:The bed was okay, the sink in the bathroom had no counter space to place. The TV remote did not work had to call maintenance. The people next door had their TV on loud all night long!!! I called the front desk, but it never got resolved. We had a terrible sleep!!! Also, no elevator to the 3rd floor so we had to lug our luggage up a flight of stairs! Good thing my husband was strong.

Review 117:Location. Breakfast was great!!

Review 118:single, small, unventilated bath on the first level of loft suite. We had to share the space so it was not very private and more than a little stinky!

Review 119:convenient for older couple with adult son with respect to parking, restaurants, wineries. We left behind important financial documents and the wonderful staff found and held them for us until we could come back. Clean with very helpful staff

Review 120:A bit noice early mornings from nearby, but I think it was temporary work on tree-cutting and garbage collection

Review 121:Very nice positioned in the middle of the lovely town of Solvang. Nice and helpfull staff. Would happily come back with the family.

Review 122:Slow wifi Noisy room above. This room was on a very busy corner Very slow housekeeping- never got to our room. I had to exchange towels myself. Choose an upstairs room. Bigger and quieter

Review 123:Good included breakfast Outdoor fireplaces Great location

Review 124:We didn't like the pillows they were to hard. We didn't like the first night at the room due a noise from a motor what would go on and off all night. Thankfully the second day we were move to another room and we sleep much better.

Review 125:We like all the green plants. We like the breakfast pastries. We like the fireplace.

Review 126:everything was very old and very low quality. Rooms definitely appeared to be higher quality on the website. It was a bit gross to be honest.

Review 127:looks nice from the outside and is in the center of town

Review 128:I did not mean the items in the check list since I have not been there.

Review 129:I can not contact anybody to correct an error of booking for Jan 22 2015 instead of Fe.22 2015. Please help remedy this.

Review 130:Noise from heating system, noise from other rooms, wi fi didn't work.

Review 131:Location is superb, town vibe reflected in the hotel buildings, warm room in the winter, good breakfast.

Review 132:They had rooms ready for people who walked in off the street without reservations but our room wasn't ready until 5pm. Our room overlooked the parking lot. If you have a low car such as a Porsche be very careful going in and out of the rear parking lot!

Review 133:The grounds are very pretty. The breakfast is decent. After waiting for nearly 2 hours for our room to be ready I asked the clerk if we could be compensated by having a free glass of wine. She gave us a free bottle of wine.

Review 134:Nothing I did not like

Review 135:I like everything about this place, it was our 3th time staying here for the price you get a whole lot I would recommend it to everyone visiting that area.
