Reviews for Orange Tree Inn

Review 1:No refrigerators in the rooms! I don't get why this isn't a standard in EVERY hotel!

Review 2:Nice place, friendly staff, great price for Santa Barbara! Sadly they did say the price jumps like $50 for the weekend, so crazy! Onsite parking included!

Review 3:Bad weather conditions during my stay: raining all the time, but that has nothing to do with the hostel. Doesn't include breakfast either.

Review 4:Great room all new, clean and with a swimming pool. So cheap! Best quality-price!

Review 5:N/A. I saw everything as excellent!!

Review 6:The king size bed that we had for our room was very comfortable and great. The staff is very friendly. No complaints whatsoever from our part. For sure to come back and stay here again!! :)

Review 7:The front desk staff was very efficient and courteous. The room was modest, yet offered all basic necessities. I would stay here on another occasion when I return to Santa Barbara.

Review 8:Really friendly and helpful staff. Clean room, good bed, very good wifi connection in the room, shower was good. 10 minutes walk to downtown santa barbara.

Review 9:No fridge or microwave in the room. It would be perfect with breakfast included.

Review 10:The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The hotel is well located, you can walk to downtown Santa Barbara.

Review 11:We couldn't use the shower in one of our rooms, since the door had jammed and was impossible to open - we remarked on that, but it went by without any notice.

Review 12:The surrounding of the motell wasn't the most impressive, but its was located so it was easy to go down town and back for easy money with a Cab. The rooms where also nice, but a little "thin walled" - easy to overhear from other rooms.

Review 13:I suppose you get what you pay for but no breakfast or even a snack available to buy. Water was cold in our bathroom. Didn't stay the second night just left and went to another hotel.

Review 14:Bad cable reception on some cable channels

Review 15:It was clean, the beds were comfortable, loved the shower, and the hotel was quick to give us a discount since some of our cable channels weren't working.

Review 16:Towels are like sand paper, but that's pretty much every motel/hotel that's not 5 star.

Review 17:Always a great place to stay. I'm in Santa Barbara a lot and I always stay here. Location, price and quality of stay are the best for SB.

Review 18:Bed was too firm. Bathroom could have used some updating to match the room

Review 19:. Room was updated with modern touches and very clean! . Overall the staff was very nice and the room was clean. Great location! An uber to town only cost us $7

Review 20:Room little dark ,,colors paint made colder was colder season ,, pool needed cleaning though was off season I still like my breakfast pool side & being outside ,, child in room close 2 pool screaming whole time ! Not good! Everything else was amazing !!!

Review 21:Location could walk take troll 2 beach ect,, staff pool staff room hskp. Staff

Review 22:very loud people next room -- seems like there is no sound proofing as if they are in the same room with us - had a very bad night sleep because of them -- then they had someone pounding on their door when the were gone -

Review 23:Very large room - spacious for 4 people to enjoy, good location for doing downtown activities.

Review 24:asked for a specific room and was approved but on arrival was told they couldn't give us that room as they gave it to someone else!

Review 25:Great value, clean, close to downtown.

Review 26:Smell in the room / the bed was very noisy / the staff gave me a room that was still being cleaned so they transferred me to another one, 1hour later a man enters the room with a key so they gave him the same room, 5min later the staff calls the phone to veriry who I am because they forgot they gave me the room, they were not sympathic at all...

Review 27:Someone removed a water bottle I had brought from home from my room. I needed it during the night; the glasses they had were not that big, so I finished off the glass of water during the night and still needed more.

Review 28:Helpful staff; excellent location.

Review 29:For the price I expected better room. There was no mirror. The only mirror in the bathroom was mounted to high. I'm 5'2" I could barely see my face. The bathroom sink is too small, no space for toiletries.

Review 30:The room was clean I didn't require much from staff but they were nice. The bed was very comfortable.

Review 31:The room was not very nice. You could see the light under the door, and the walls were thin...I could clearly hear the "date" happening next door, and their music.

Review 32:The price was good and the staff were nice. There was a Subway and 7-11 next door which was convenient.

Review 33:bathroom very small didn't have refrigerator or microwave or hangers and the showtime channel was off line(we wanted to watch a movie)

Review 34:the room was big bed was comfy lobby and pool area very inviting and user friendly location excellent

Review 35:Weird huge sink in main bedroom with no soap nor towels, and tiny sink in tiny bathroom that opens into 2nd bedroom. The bathroom is really too small, absolutely no shelf space, and they were red blotches on the tiles at the bottom of the wall, they rubbed off with toilet paper, so I assume they were crushed ants from reading the reviews people posted earlier this month!!! Glad our room wasn't close to that of the young Italian guys who had their door opened and music blasting out. No breakfast.

Review 36:We liked the suite, it was also quiet because it opened at the back. Nice little balcony, nice decoration. No need to go to the Crocodile restaurant the hotel recommends for breakfast, which is 1/2 mile away, just cross the street and go to Garrett's, really nice!

Review 37:When we first checked in the room was dirty, there was black hair all over the bathroom floor, we transferred to another room which was cleaner. A car alarm went off all throughout the middle of the night. Staff not only didn't do anything when we called, they called our room and asked if it was OUR car after we had already complained to them. Car alarm went off 5 times between midnight and 6 am and lasted for 10 minutes each time. Staff did not apologize. When we talked up the staff in the morning they said they would follow through with us about compensating us for something but we never recieved an email or anything.

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:We loved the patio behind our room. Theonly problem we had was an outlet that would not hold the plug in place (coffee machine) . The staff was courteous and practiced excellent customer service. The rooms were beautiful. A definife return trip is in our future.

Review 40:The best US motel I have stayed in. Downtown Santa Barbara reachable by walking, parking situation is perfect and the price for beeing Santa Barbara was reasonable.

Review 41:If you're spending a prolonged period of time in Santa Barbara, you might want to be more central

Review 42:Pretty smart, comfortable hotel. Good service at reception.

Review 43:If you walk is a little bit far from beach and downtown but there is buses running just in front. No breakfast included

Review 44:The room is perfect and stuff great, i would come back for sure.

Review 45:Dodgy light fitting

Review 46:Fairly good location, 10 min walk on gentle slope downhill to great cafes/restaurant selection (Jane on State Street was EXCELLENT).

Review 47:Not enough light in the room One very small bathroom for a 2 bedroom suite No refrigerator or microwave Any food left out--ants swarmed No breakfast included

Review 48:Location

Review 49:Two guys overnight and we were provided with easy entry and good service. Parking was available as required so all was swell. Everything worked, little bit of noise but nothing to complain about.

Review 50:Bugs in my room. Ants in the bed and on our toothbrush and clothes. Pinscher bugs in the bathroom on the clean towels, spider around the toilet.

Review 51:I like the location, bed was comfortable, and friendly staff.

Review 52:I wish the room had more light. I wish the bathroom had a shelf for me to place my toiletries. There was no breakfast.

Review 53:The coffee and tea maker were great. The TV and bed were also good. Thank you for the Wi-Fi.

Review 54:Room was small, with uncomfortable bed. Shower took a very long time to get hot. Lack of privacy.

Review 55:Staff were friendly, location was good - close to shopping and restaurants. Good for one night stays. Free parking.

Review 56:Lot of noise while trying to sleep and the people overhead shuffling around. Ants in the room were constantly on me, at the desk and in the bathroom. This is not your fault but a lady had a fight with her......and went through the pool area mad and slammed both gates, yelling at 3 in the morning. A lock on the pool gates at night may help.

Review 57:The staff and friendliness The House Keeper cleaned up the room nicely.

Review 58:Thin walls that we could hear our neighbours the whole night. Old decor needs updating.

Review 59:It is purely a hotel you pick for an overnight stay . Not a room you would want to relax the whole day in. The receptionist at the front desk was really helpful !

Review 60:Only one employee seemed like she was having a bad day. All the rest were great.

Review 61:The staff was really terrific, very courteous, friendly, professional, leaving a very good impression with me. You could tell that service was a priority to them. The furnishings in the room were very nice, nothing cheap about anything in the room. Even the 7-11 next door was clean & nice & well-lit.

Review 62:Breakfast not included and there was no refrigerator in the room although there was a 7-11 next door

Review 63:Good Value and conveniently located by following the main avenue out of town. Staff helpfully relocated us from a noisy front-facing room to a (smaller) quieter room at the rear. We used the outdoor pool even at the end of October

Review 64:No breakfast.

Review 65:Lovely bright room no 209, with wooden vaulted ceiling. The bed was the the most comfortable of our Californian road trip. Staff friendly and very helpful

Review 66:The room was dark and gloomy, the bathroom floor was sticky there were ants, no fridge, lighting was poor, not to mention we had to drag our suitcases up 2 flights of stairs and for $300 a night. Thankfully we only stayed for one night!

Review 67:Location was good but that's about it

Review 68:We found ants in our room from a wet washcloth on the floor in the bathroom, not even by the food. It was kind of unsettling.

Review 69:It was in a good location, the staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed here for a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl.

Review 70:Great location near the Santa Barbara Bowl. Really appreciated the desk folks suggesting not walking. (Uphill and about a mile away) Very accurate.

Review 71:There was no hot water, I let the water run for ages, felt guilty as there is a water shortage but we had to shower in luke warm water. Also our room was full of ants even found some in the bed in the morning when I pulled back the covers. Glad I was only staying for the one night.

Review 72:Very friendly staff, good location, quiet

Review 73:There were ants in our room and the shower/bathtub had draining problems. Carpet in the room seemed dirty as after walking on it feet were black

Review 74:Great location! And fabulous swimming pool! Staff friendly and very helpful

Review 75:Didn't try anything out so can't complain about anything!

Review 76:Only stayed overnight on way to LA so can't comment except to say room was massive and ideal for stopover.

Review 77:No breakfast available, only one chair in the room, not enough shelves or surfaces in the bathroom, no refrigerator, fairly expensive

Review 78:Within walking distance of Downtown Santa Barbara

Review 79:Just that we didn't stay longer...

Review 80:This was by far the most amazing Inn we have stayed in during our 3 week holiday in the USA. It was really affordable and so spacious. The person who checked us in was very friendly and even though we only stayed there one night, he was so nice. We lived the little outside patio area. We will definitely stay here again.

Review 81:we woke up to the noise of the footsteps of our upstairs neighbour. if you are a light sleeper the thin walls/ceiling can be pretty annoying also, i can't say the overnight price was cheap. it would be better if a breakfast to be served & included in the price.

Review 82:it was a nice place at the main street, close to centre. It was clean enough and Wifi had a strong signal. There is a 7/11 next to the hotel where you can grab your morning coffee.

Review 83:Nothing I can't really point out.

Review 84:The location was great. Not too far from down town. Parking wasn't an issue. Rooms were good and beds were comfy.

Review 85:No fridge in the rooms but good solution for that with one in the lobby for free.

Review 86:Helpful great service and a big room with a good bed. We enjoyed our time here and as well the clean nice pool.

Review 87:There were ants all over our bathroom and we found some in the bed on the 2nd night

Review 88:Really comfy king bed, staff were so friendly, its a great place to stay if you plan on it being somewhere to just rest your head.

Review 89:If you can, I'd like to see some type of a price for regular guests program - or similar.

Review 90:Overall, I enjoy the Lemon Tree very much - uber-friendly staff, great amenities, etc. Will continue to stay here & refer friends, biz assoc., etc.

Review 91:This well priced motel ix at the top end of town. Plenty of parking in the town but we chose to get a taxi in and walk home. Plenty of restaurants in the centre.

Review 92:lovely place, incredibly nice staff, our room had a vaulted ceiling, which made it extra spacious. We actually changed our plans and stayed an extra 2 nights.

Review 93:There was a weird smell at first but it went away later

Review 94:The beds here are so comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay and I plan on coming here again when I visit Santa Barbara.

Review 95:Ants in the room. Broken window. No breakfast on site. Very old property. They put a $50 charge on your card for damages, etc. when you check in. First room offered was in very poor location - had to ask for a change even though hotel appeared to be only about half full.

Review 96:Initially, we had to move rooms due to an insect issue. After moving, the room is basically clean, but the shower is terrible- so low, hard to maintain temperature which is terrible for Ca's water issue, and you stand in inches of the water you've showered in until you're done. The blowdryer was broken. For the price, it really wasn't acceptable, and we wouldn't stay again.

Review 97:Staff was friendly, location was good and accommodating.

Review 98:The website offered if you'd like an early check in, or late check out. My boyfriend worked a wedding in SB, so we requested a late check out using the drop down menu for 2pm, but it was denied. Once there, we asked again and was only give a noon checkout time. Also, there was an issue with ants..throughout the hotel

Review 99:That it was on State Street.

Review 100:Very expensive considering the type of accommodation. It was generally run down and more like a loud youth hostel than a motel. I would not recommend this motel.

Review 101:Room 325 is the best. High vaulted ceilings, clean carpeting, nice oversized balcony was where spent most of our time. Bars and restaurants only 10 to 15 blocks walk down state street. ($5 uber ride back)

Review 102:Bit further away from the main area than I thought on booking.

Review 103:Big room, newly refurbished hotel, nice pool area. Great value for money in Santa Barbara.

Review 104:No hot water. Free WiFi but bandwidth poor. No breakfast. A little aged too - due a refurbishment. $180 compared with $250 for 4 star Hilton the figures don't stack up.

Review 105:Great location and friendly staff. I left my camera behind and they very kindly posted it on to hotel in LA. Thank you.

Review 106:Room was dirty, stinky, ants all over the restrooms, noisy, alarms going off all night. Hotel not walking distance to any stores, restaurants.

Review 107:I did not like anything about this hotel

Review 108:ants , ants and more ants in the bathroom and the bedroom, hotel is on the main road so is very noisy in the morning, road work's started outside at 6.30am.

Review 109:- free parking - nice pool

Review 110:Its just too far to walk to the beach (1.75 miles) and the centre (between 1 and 1.5) miles) which just lets it down in terms of location. There is a local free shuttle which is about 10 minutes walk away and which runs until early evening but parking is not a problem and very reasonably priced

Review 111:Nice Clean Hotel with good facilities (e.g Wifi and pool) - In a nice part of Santa Barbara and quite close to centre and beach. Close to shops and amenities but need a car

Review 112:Insanely expensive for average motel type room. This is not New York or London.

Review 113:Good location with lots of free parking. Seven blocks from the historic center of Santa Barbara.

Review 114:For $275, it was a dump, but I guess that is what the market will bear on a Saturday evening in August. Room was well worn, dirty and the shower needed to be fixed. Wife worn sandals as the carpet and floors were filthy. I was glad I was only sleeping there from 11:00 PM to 7:00 Am. Could not leave fast enough in the morning.

Review 115:Easy parking

Review 116:Incredibly overpriced, and only an ok location. We had ants in one room so we had to move to another (which also had ants). The rooms were all humid and you felt disgusting just being in them. The shower had no pressure and was made for someone 3 feet tall. I would never stay here again

Review 117:The staff was pleasant and the bed comfortable, but that is the only nice thing I can say about this place.

Review 118:It is a very bare bones motel. We had to ask for a second towel. Had to ask for creamer for coffee. It was the 1st time we were charged a fee of $50, to be returned, if the room was left in order.

Review 119:The second room I reserved the beds had not been made and we weren't told the room wasn't ready when we were given the key. The cleaning staff came right away and asked if we could give them about 15 minutes to change sheets and take out trash. One of the 3 beds was very lumpy and not comfortable to sleep on.

Review 120:One room had a very comfortable bed and was very clean.

Review 121:Shower was full of hair lingering around. Shower drain was plugged Some ants on the bathroom sink

Review 122:Staff was great and apologetic. Would have been rated high if tub was clean and working. Unable to use.

Review 123:No breakfast included while they have a nice room for it. Wifi in some parts not good. You might need a car for the centre : the town little bus is 4 blocks away. We used our car.

Review 124:Hotel is nice

Review 125:The service was excellent. We had a couple of problems initially with our credit card but the reception staff were understanding and went above and beyond to help us. They were extremely kind and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable.

Review 126:we had ants in our room. We felt like it was not a clean room. The sheets were awful, i had to lay a towel on the bed and sleep on top of it

Review 127:friendliness of staff

Review 128:staff very friendly, gave great suggestions for restaurants and how to get around the town without a car. free parking. 15-20 min walk to beach/wharf. 10 min walk to "downtown" trolly. great restaurants further down state street. roomy room for family of 4.

Review 129:The front desk was outstanding. They made suggestions, guided me to where I needed to be and printed maps to get me there. They showed a genuine interest in making my time in Santa Barbara wonderful.

Review 130:Our first room had an ant infestation, they moved our room and it had the same problem. The bed was hard as concrete and so were the pillows. Ice machine was located inside the office, miles away from the room. Street was closed when we arrived, had to park blocks away from hotel. Overall terrible experience.

Review 131:Minutes away from downtown and beach

Review 132:Ants.

Review 133:Great location, right next to downtown area. You can walk to so many cute shops and restaurants in 10 minutes. Staff recommended a great burrito place.
