Reviews for Rio Nido Lodge at the Russian River
Review 1:The room was adequate, nothing fancy, but we didn't expect that as we knew the building is 100 years old.
Review 2:Brett and Julia were wonderful hosts!! The cooked to order breakfast was delicious, and a great bonus to have as part of the total price. We were very pleased with the price for a two night stay.
Review 3:Brett was very personable and cooked us a tasty breakfast to order. There was a cute and friendly Road House right next door for cocktails and food too.
Review 4:The setting in the redwoods was awesome. Took several relaxing walks. Short walk to the river. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the owner (Brett) was hospitable. I'm a foodie so I loved the complementary morning breakfast, I had scrambled eggs with ham, onion, bell pepper and cheese, with a side of bacon. This place is a hidden gem.
Review 5:Not a coffee maker in the room. Poor breakfast. Not even an omelet. Only coffee or tea, juices/yaourt or cereals or 2 mini toasts with jam.
Review 6:Cleanliness / quiet place / friendly welcome
Review 7:They shut their office randomly, which makes it a little difficult if you need something 99% of hotels have, like say, a hair dryer or iron. Apparently they have these, but you have to ask for one when they're actually around.
Review 8:Nice, quiet. Clean. Breakfast was fantastic.
Review 9:A good value. Nice clean room. Lovely linens, comfortable bed.Fridge, flat screen tv,blow dryer etc. Redwood trees.Really nice, helpful staff. Mornings a good breakfast, great scrambled eggs with a variety of add ins. Really good potatoes and bacon.Variety of choices fruit, cereal, yogurt, juices, teas coffee.Served to your table.Pictures were accurate.Quiet,we stayed Monday though Friday. We would stay again!
Review 10:Charming and rustic, seated below spectacular redwoods, while very clean with an amazingly comfortable bed, quality French soaps and shampoo, Brett and staff were very accommodating, nice breakfast, homemade jams were a surprising treat.
Review 11:We came this area for the winery. Al nido is about 30 minutes from dry creek so it was far from us. The hotel is old, it takes 10 minutes until the water become warm, we slept at the second floor and we have to care . .our baggages at the stairs
Review 12:The bed was amazing and also the breakfest
Review 13:The innkeeper was a relatively nice guy and was very helpful, but he seemed a bit annoyed by the fact that I did not get my room cleaned during the 5 days I was there.
Review 14:Lovely location in the redwood trees near to many local attractions. Very clean room with nice amenities.
Review 15:Room and facilities are worn Service like checking in, getting ice or handling an issue is very limited.
Review 16:Breakfast was tasty and homemade Clean, decent place for an overnight
Review 17:Breakfast was wonderful, bed was very comfortable. Location is great, right by the Russian River. Hosts were very pleasant. Do be aware that no children are allowed, and a very loud band may play until 10 p.m. at the Roadhouse next door (we went over and listened to the band; it was fun).
Review 18:The manager told us not to park in designated parking spaces near therooms on the second day we stayed because according to him my vehiclewoke him and other guests up when we left to go to the Russian RiverBlues Festival in the morning. My truck is extremely quiet as I'msure we were. Thought he was unreasonable with his request. However,I did move it about 50 yards away from the property. Hope that madeall happy.
Review 19:Beautiful area. River, redwood trees, close proximity to grill/pub.
Review 20:AMAZING welcome! Personalized service from Bret and Yulia and with smiles! Homemade breakfast to order which was fabulous; chili sauce was fabulous. I felt like I was home away from home in the woods!
Review 21:We didn't like the noise or run down looks and traffic coming from the house next to the lodge It was sketchy over there for sure although we felt completely safe
Review 22:Being in the redwoods and close to guerneville the coast the Russian river is minutes away
Review 23:no air conditioning
Review 24:Beds were fantastic,, quite comfortable, only issue was no air conditioning, had a small kitchenette, that was perfect for our needs, the staff were so friendly and pleasant, warm happy greetings at every interaction, the accommodations were very sufficient and nice for our needs. Basically just there for lounge and sleep time. Nothing super fancy, but it met our needs. don't go in thinking you are going to get a 5 star hotel and you wont be disappointed
Review 25:Absolutely nothing. This place is a real find.
Review 26:Hostess Yulia was very welcoming. It was clear that she and her husband took pride and care in their business. They offered great recommendations for local doing and activities. Breakfast was superb! Thank you for such gracious hospitality. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.
Review 27:We stayed for one night. Room was small but comfortable. Decor was up to date and room was very clean. Location was very quiet. Breakfast is cooked to order. It was a good value.
Review 28:The Owner was not a people person. We felt as though we were a bother to him. The Owner also has a CONTROL issue as to what to do, where to park, where to walk, and where to congregate. The breakfast was not what was shown online nor were the property pictures (very dirty). Our room was never cleaned in the 3 days we stayed. All gates on the property are locked so you have to walk through the street to get around the place (very unsafe). Breakfast amounts are very limited (1) piece of toast and (1) small sausage link should not be considered Breakfast included. Overall this place is overrun with spider webs and dirt along with holes in the ceilings and poorly patched wood decking. My Sister in Law had a dirty room on the other side of the Lodge, when we opened the coffee pot it had grounds from who knows how long. After they get your money they are done with you and don't bother us again. So sad!
Review 29:The Rio Nido Roadhouse next door was very convenient, the food was great!. The trees on the property were beautiful.
Review 30:Although we arrived within the required time (by 9pm) we didn't feel welcomed. Our room was on the other side of the building from where we had to park which made unloading our bags difficult.
Review 31:The bed was very comfortable, the room and bath were very clean and the breakfast was excellent. Loved the home-made jams!
Review 32:Not really "bed and breakfast " more accurately breakfast included. Standard room unlike any other B&B I've stayed. Loud band played across the way which ruined the redwood/river experience. Breakfast was okay but portions were quite small--you get a choice of two pieces of bacon OR a little apple sausage. Hosts not that friendly. Quite disappointed overall.
Review 33:Bed was comfortable and toiletries nice.
Review 34:Perfect location with few minutes to both Guerneville, Russian river, Redwood forest hikes and winery restaurants. Very quiet! A whole meny for the included breakfeast with all you can wish for. Very nice personel.
Review 35:bathroom needs updating, also stepping up from the bedroom into the bathroom can be a a challenge
Review 36:Room 22 feels like being a tree house-comfortable bed, great breakfast, great service, nice people + a beautiful view of majestic redwoods
Review 37:We were pleasantly surprised that the owners of the historic Rio Nido Lodge, through hard work and dedication, have resurrected it into a quiet and comfortable bed and breakfast getaway.
Review 38:Room is fairly small and basic but nice and VERY clean. Really had everything we needed and lovely to be set under the trees. Staff is ever so friendly. Breakfast is great! Very good value for the price
Review 39:The rooms are on the smaller size and the heating is sub-optimal (not sure how it would be in the winter but it was chilly during the late spring) but these are minor complaints.
Review 40:The location (it is within miles of the red woods and wine country). The staff (Brett and his wife are extremely friendly and helpful). The free breakfast every morning (which is far more then any continental breakfast you may get elsewhere).
Review 41:The Inn is adjacent to an open air stage where performers blare loud rock or country music on weekends from 6 to 10 pm. The "music" is not optional for hotel guests (even inside their rooms). The host likes the music & dismissed our distress. When the host was made aware of additional problems, eg, no fresh toiletries or glasses on the second day, he unapologetically blamed the new staff. We had to drive a mile to catch a glimpse of the river that was billed as "across the street."
Review 42:The breakfast servers were attentive and nice.
Review 43:Bathroom could have been cleaner, toilet had not been flushed when we arrived. Walls are paper thin and I was woken up at 6AM by the bed squeaking next door. Room was very small.
Review 44:Great breakfast, owners are very nice.
Review 45:From 9pm till next morning 9.30 am there is nobody no phone no connection if you need help.or you need something room was cold and heater was not working.
Review 46:Bed and location
Review 47:Just a caution for fellow travelers. This is not the place to go for either yahoo parties or privacy. The walls are paper-thin, but luckily our host, Brett, kept noise to a minimum and we had a good sleep.
Review 48:We loved the breakfasts, our hostess Yulia, the beds, the location (right between Korbel Vineyards and Guerneville), the peace & quiet, the redwoods.
Review 49:This place is old and it feels like staying in your grandmother's spare room, but not in a good way. Hot water took 3-4 minutes to get hot, it had paper thin walls and was just generally funky, not charming. If you're expecting classy, shabby chic rustic, you'll be disappointed. It's mostly just shabby.
Review 50:We liked the central location and the proximity to Guerneville. Short drive to Santa Rosa and Sebastapol too. The trees surrounding the building were nice. The owners were nice.
Review 51:The included breakfast was AWESOME! I was SO impressed! The bed was SO comfortable! This is an older place but that only added to the charm. I ToTaLLy recommend this place!
Review 52:My boyfriend and I stayed one night here and explored the river the next day. The building is very charming and has a cute cafe in the lobby. There is also a restaurant/bar by the same owners that had live music and brunch on the weekend that was just steps away. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Review 53:Arriving after a long rush hour drive out of the city, the owner Brett welcomed us with a big smile & even personally showed us our room. The facility is very clean, updated, practical and has that comfortable home feel. The breakfast that's included with the room rates was delicious & enjoyed the homemade fruit jams. The bed was indeed big & comfortable. Living in the city and such a small space, we always look forward to sleeping on a king size bed & it sure was comfy. The area was peaceful by 10pm thru 8am so you're rest assured to get a good night sleep. Also loved that they use organic body care Pharmacopia. Those little attention to detail does matter in the long run. Lastly, this establishment is GAY friendly. The management definitely made us feel safe & welcome. I would recommend this place to any traveler who's looking for something basic yet very memorable.
Review 54:Wifi had issues at NITE....was fine in morning....could be area?
Review 55:Pristine updated rooms, fabulous bed, bath amenities awesome, owner walked us to our room, made to order breakfast...yum! Definitely a nice nites, owners are great
Review 56:The owner/proprietor was so unkind and unprofessional with me, I would have left if it weren't pouring rain when I arrived. This individual was so rude, I couldn't actually say if the place was any good I was so offended by the abusive treatment.
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:Bathroom was clean but small. A mirror in the room would have eased the "congestion" in the bathroom when trying to get ready.
Review 59:Beautiful location across from the river. Lodge had a lot of character. The owners were rally nice and welcoming. Made to order breakfast was really delicious. Homemade muffins and jams, quiches, apple smoked bacon, etc all wonderful. Bed really comfortable
Review 60:The room was well appointed and geared towards the comfort of the guest.......and to top it off....a Wonderful full breakfast to start your day!! The owners Brett & Yulia were Great Hosts and there for anything you needed. I recommend to all!!!!
Review 61:All good
Review 62:Super friendly owners. Got early day we were leaving before breakfast time. Owner offered us coffee and a muffin for our ride. She was super kind.
Review 63:The bed was out of this world. Never slept so well. The breakfast, which is included with the price of the room, was excellent, worth paying extra for if it wasn't already included.
Review 64:The hotel is far from the city and the place is not beautiful. There isn't many options for breakfast (all are completely american), but everything is tasty. It took a long time to heat the water. No check in desk available after 8 pm.
Review 65:Room was not very big, but it was comfortable. The staff is only a couple and they are very friendly. Amenities in the bathroom are good. Good wifi connection and big and comfortable bed.
Review 66:Felt no welcoming spirit or graciousness whatsoever from the innkeeper upon arrival and/ Or departure
Review 67:The bed The breakfast The bathroom amenities
Review 68:The efforts are admirable, but there are some fundamental flaws. Walls are thin. We were awakened by our neighbors clearing their throats all night. Acoustic attenuation is critical, and this is an older facility that charges above-average prices for cosmetically merely adequate rooms. The web photos are deceptive and show rooms that are significantly larger than the one we were assigned. Our bedroom was about 10x12 and the king-sized bed left little room for other furniture. The small dresser was in the open closet area, for instance. The bathroom was approx 8x8 for one person only. Room needs an additional mirror outside of bathroom for make-up / hair etc. instead of monopolizing bathroom. Bathroom also needs additional shelf space for personal items (maybe above toilet). The Lodge is nestled closely to a restaurant bar and other facilities including a physically contiguous operating theater that shares the rear of the structure. Patrons were respectfully quiet when leaving, but the show let out after 10pm.
Review 69:The new proprietors are making a significant effort to upgrade this property and have refurnished rooms with modern-shaker style, very comfortable beds, and furnishings. Bathrooms have been updated too with new fixtures but not fully modernized. The hot, custom-cooked breakfast was excellent and we were very grateful for the early start it afforded and great service. Water was hot and adequate, but fixtures are showing signs of wear already.
Review 70:The hot water took a while to make its way to our shower.
Review 71:Beautifully restored old inn nestled among a redwood grove. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. A very nice breakfast is served to order.
Review 72:The road was a little too close by and there was nowhere to hang my long sundress.
Review 73:We loved being so close to town and the jazz festival. The room was big and the bed was comfy. Loved the pillows! Breakfast was good - loved the homemade jam!
Review 74:When I called to get directions I had to leave a message.
Review 75:The place was run by a young couple. Their daughter helps by filling your ice bucket. Excellent breakfast! Love the sauces and homemade jam . It's quiet. We had nophone signal until we were on the main road. Would recommend it to couples.
Review 76:We only stayed one night. The rooms were a little pricey!! The breakfast was amazing though and all the staff was wonderful! We walked over to the Roadhouse bar n grill late at night and was actually a chill local bar w friendly staff. The tress arnd the lodge are very nice.
Review 77:So-so breakfast; rooms a bit small. Central Guerneville isn't super-close but is easily driveable.
Review 78:Really cute little inn and roadhouse in a woodsy enclave just outside central Guerneville. Terrific blend of rustic and comfortable, with redwoods right outside your door.
Review 79:Because we were staying for a week, Brett thoughtfully put us in a room with a kitchenette, which we put to good use. (Keep in mind that you will lose closet space with that option, but it was not a problem for us. There is a small 4-drawer chest of drawers which held a fair amount of clothes.) Breakfast is included with the price and is delicious -- it's served from 8 am to 10:30 am which is perfect for people wanting to relax on vacation. Also, you order breakfast off a menu so you can customize your breakfast every day. Additionally, each day Yulia offers homemade banana muffins and mango marmalade as well as other goodies to supplement the menu. If you have stayed in Guerneville before you will understand the importance of my next note: The plumbing is updated and never clogs or overflows! Our hosts were warm and friendly and always ready with tips on how and what to enjoy during our stay. We had a great trip and really enjoyed our stay!
Review 80:Noisy neighbors -- past 11:00 PM -- hard to sleep!!
Review 81:Been there before -- it's close to Schoolhouse Canyon Campground -- where the family was camping.
Review 82:The deck outside our room and the stairs to it are rather rickety. Deadbolt didn't line up so couldn't use it.
Review 83:Iulia & Brett are the hard-working owners and are very accommodating. Brett cooks up a great hot breakfast (make sure to try his mom's chili sauce on your eggs- delish!) The inn itself needs some upgrades but to be among those towering redwoods and smell that fresh air was rejuvenating.
Review 84:Besides the positive rank I gave Rio Nido, I thought that the host/owner was cordial and helpful. We lost one of our keys to our room. After we looked for over 20 minutes, he found them next to our car trunk. Great breakfast too.
Review 85:The quality of the staff (all is done to feel well, the breakfast is fabulous) and the quality of the bed.
Review 86:Great, very nice place off the beaten path in the redwood forest. Excellent breakfast.
Review 87:Roadhouse next door did not live up to expectations. River acess wasmisrepresented. Very unusual experience.
Review 88:Breakfast
Review 89:The area is so calming and peaceful and it's surrounded by the redwood forest
Review 90:Good base for our day trips.
Review 91:Too noisey across from rock band bar/exercise class w/loud music in morning
Review 92:Location central
Review 93:The owners are really nice and helpful. Also, the breakfast is amazing!
Review 94:Wifi , questionable does norm work all times .
Review 95:Very quiet room , and bed very comfortable.... Breakfast
Review 96:Would like to have had a coffee pot in the room
Review 97:Being in the forest
Review 98:Lots of "old world charm"
Review 99:Not being able to talk to anyone one phone Ever! Very inconvenient.
Review 100:The rustic location and access to the surrounding ares
Review 101:Beautiful surroundings, quiet with redwoods. Truly excellent breakfast. Welcoming wonderful owners.
Review 102:nothing
Review 103:The room was so clean and the bed was comfy and restful.
Review 104:Old world charm
Review 105:The upstairs rooms are tidy and charming.
Review 106:The lodge and the surrounding area had a wonderful feeling of mystery to be discovered.
Review 107:The breakfast was fantastic - cooked to order and delicious. The bed was very comfortable, and our room had a view of redwoods.
Review 108:The owners were very welcoming, the breakfast was delicious, and location was great!.
Review 109:Needs some updating but clean & tidy
Review 110:Location in small town & close to Armstrong Woods. Friendly owners.
Review 111:The beds an pillows the staff over friendly
Review 112:The complimentary breakfast and coffee were both amazing.
Review 113:The owners obviously care for their property. Clean room with great fan. Super breakfast!
Review 114:no A/C ... bummer when it gets hot
Review 115:the location its pretty nice, you feel in the middle of the woods
Review 116:Shower was either hot or cold-no mixing. Very cold at night, heater did not work. Adequate dresser for 1 person only.
Review 117:The trees !!
