Reviews for Northern Hotel
Review 1:The Northern is absolutely perfect. From the staff to the food to the decor, I adore this hotel. I've stayed here three times in the past year and each visit was heavenly. Great location in quaint downtown Billings.
Review 2:Best hotel by far in Billings. Restaurant and bar are great! Bernies is great and staff are great! My 3rd stay and would only stay there. Wish menu at Ten was a little less creative or hadd a few basic items. This coming from a native New Yorker!
Review 3:What a lovely place to get away for the weekend. Beautifully decorated, free valet parking, and a great Sunday brunch at Ten the onsite restaurant. Also the location is within walking distance of many good restaurants and pubs. We were very happy with our stay.
Review 4:Dinner was over salted (ravioli) and soupy (seafood with undrained pasta). Salad was wilted. 3 people at check-in desk..only one guy asking dozens of ?? about restaurants & directions. We had to wait 20 min. to be helped.
Review 5:Clean, comfortable, convenient. Our waiter at dinner was great.
Review 6:The room I stayed in was terrible. I emailed the General Manager twice and never heard a word from him. Everuthing about this stay was below expectations.
Review 7:There was very little I liked about staying at the Northern this time. This was the 4th or 5th time I have stayed here. I doubt I would go back.
Review 8:Not much to dislike! Breakfast with the room would be nice, but reserved it knowing it was not complimentary.
Review 9:Beautiful hotel with fantastic, professional staff!
Review 10:The initial response from one of the waiters at TEN was a little rude, but I got over it. They sat me at a table with the sun shining on my face, but I asked them to close the drapes and they complied. The shower needed more pressure. It felt like a dribble at times.
Review 11:Both restaurants were excellent. It was the first time I had elk and rattlesnake.
Review 12:We over-interpreted the phrase 'Historic Downtown' and looked forward to spending a day and a night in 'happening' Billings, Montana's biggest city... The area was super-quiet, unfortunately.
Review 13:The hotel seems to have been newly refurbished; it is clean, and the beds very comfortable. Bernie's (part of the hotel) was a good place to have breakfast.
Review 14:1. The bathroom. The showers had the shower head in a poor location. No hand safety bars in a wet and slippery surface. The water pressure was terrible - beyond water-saving. The lighting was only fair.2. We called in for a shuttle pick up from the EDWARDS FBO at the airport. We were advised a 10 minute waiting time. We waited 45 minutes! Somebody forgot about the pick up. Nobody called about the delay or apologized afterwards. Next time we will rent a car from the airport. 3. BREAKFAST. The manager was the only one working at 6:00AM on Sunday. She was ill humored & shared the weight on her shoulders. We asked for a packed lunch. It was put together terrribly.
Review 15:1. Location! Excellent!2. DECOR! Great Lobby. Room was spacious and well decorated. The comfort of the bed was more than adequate. Not enough outlets in the room.
Review 16:My only minor gripe is that breakfast is at an adjacent facility where food delivery was slow; waited 20min just for for a yoghurt parfait. I prefer a quick buffet style. I'm sure if the hotel had to manage breakfast it would be at their high level of service.
Review 17:The service was great. I was transported FOC to the expo I was attending and to the airport. One day the manager showed up to collect me from the expo as their shuttle was busy. Now that's just unheard of! The bar and restaurant was great. Smiling, helpful staff and great food.
Review 18:Bernie's Diner was a bust for us.WOW... 40 minutes wait from ordertaken... No food and no communication from waitress. Very bad customerservice! We walked out!!
Review 19:The bar staff was great! Fun and knowledgable!
Review 20:Nothing to do with the hotel but one of the days extremely cold.
Review 21:I've stayed at many upscale new York hotels and I can honestly say that the northern hotel is on par with some of the best. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I appreciated the free valet parking which is prompt and courteous when the car was returned and dropped off. TheTEN restaurant has an excellent menu and the food was very good. Breakfast in a diner, nothing could be finer! The rooms are well appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable. And I was more than pleased@theratewefoundonbooking.com. After staying at many of the major chain "hotels" this made my trip to Billings memorable.
Review 22:Bernies an overrated breakfast/brunch place where mediocre meals takes very long time to be delivered. The "gourmet" restaurant TEN has high ambitions but our visit was great disappointment. Food poorly cooked and service nice but unprofessional. Understanably, the Place was almost empty whereas surrounding restaurants were full.
Review 23:All, except the the coffea shop and the restaurant.
Review 24:Restaurant was not professionally staffed. Unorganized but very nice. Chef unwilling to make accommodations. Food dull appearance but flavor good.
Review 25:Libby was beautiful, staff friendly. Room was lovely, bed comfortable.
Review 26:Love the downtown location and the fact that really, you wouldn't have to leave the facility. They have a lounge, steakhouse, diner, etc. all in one building.
Review 27:Not all but one particular front desk clerk( her name has escaped me) must not like her job. For sure was not a great impression of your hotel. She was very snippy and unfriendly to me and my friend who was staying there.
Review 28:The location in the heart of downtown was refreshing. Lived in Billings 22yrs ago and so happy to see the downtown revitalized.
Review 29:Tamara - front desk, negative first impression. However, the other front desk employees were top notch.
Review 30:Limousine driver from airport. ALL of the Valet employees. Server (Sean) at dinner. Breakfast employees.
Review 31:Small room, no shower head, having to upgrade and spend a lot more, even for the inconvenience. The only thing good were the beds, important, yes, but not enough for the money. Won't stay again. No hair dryer in the second room...
Review 32:Beds
Review 33:The van driver from the airport informed the kitchen that I had just arrived and that I wanted to order food at the bar. I had a fabulous meal with a great glass of wine upon my arrival.
Review 34:I waited for about 20 minutes to even get a nod of acknowledgement fromany of the front desk staff! When I was finally acknowledged and I hadexpressed that I was in town for a training at the YMCA...the"front desk GIRL" could not even extend a discount to me forany room... Even though she found a discount for the ywca in the"system"...meanwhile, I had found and pulled up a booking.comrate on my iPhone and showed her, and she still didn't help meout...instead she just stood there and said that I had to book a room onbooking.com to get that rate that was listed (which was within $20.00 ofthe rate that she quoted me for the ywca rate)...WOW!...TALK About lowsycustomer service!!! I mean, there I was, a single lone woman, just inBillings for a training with a non-for-profit organization...(theYMCA)...and this post adolescent "service worker" could noteven find it in her smug little heart to just extend to me a price matchfor a measly $20.00 savings...come on Northern HotelAdministration...pull your heads out into the light and quit trainingand/or allowing your staff to treat perspective (montana native)guests with that much disrespect again!!!
Review 35:Nice room and good location for me and were I was doing my trainingat the ymca!
Review 36:Small snafu on check out with an incorrect bill - but overall a fantastic stay.
Review 37:The facility was wonderful, the bed was extremely comfortable, the staff was well trained and very courteous - we had plans to go "out on the town" and never left the building. The bar and restaurant for dinner was fabulous, and we ended up in their restaurant for breakfast with huge portions, great food and an extremely amenable staff.
Review 38:Room was a bit small, wifi was slow.
Review 39:I can't say enough about how accommodating and helpful the staff were. The room had an incredibly comfortable bed.
Review 40:I like that the hotel is down town but there are many homeless people around this area. Made us feel not as safe as we shod have felt.
Review 41:Everything about the hotel was great except location.
Review 42:The breakfast wasn't complimentary, which is fine and we knew that when we booked. But my wife and I like coffee and a light breakfast of muffins, fruit etc. The choices were very limited in the diner.
Review 43:Younger staff, but they were very attentive and professional, nice to see that! My wife loved the gift shop and left a chunk of change there! Doormen were very courteous and helpful!
Review 44:My only issue was that our room was not cleaned while we were there. We only stayed two nights, so it wasn't too inconvenient having the towels pile up.
Review 45:Convenient for activities, dining.
Review 46:No bad experiences.
Review 47:The best part of our stay was the staff. The front desk staff, the valet staff, the wait staff in Bernie's and the person working in the boutique were all friendly, cheerful, and helpful. They each did a great job representing the hotel in the jobs they do.
Review 48:No blow dry hair blower in the room; no bathtub, only a large shower.
Review 49:Room was well appointed; loved the toiletries; quiet (8th floor); dining room is very nice!
Review 50:The food at the restaurant for dinner was poor both meals we had there. Staff ( one guy) was not very nice at all but everyone else was
Review 51:I liked the rooms and the valet. The staff as a whole was very kind except for one person
Review 52:We had dinner at TEN. The staff was great and attentive, but we really didn't feel like the food was top of the line. We both had ribeye steaks and they were just ok, brussel sprouts were hard & not a vegetable that is eatable al dente. The pumpkin spice martini was amazing & I would recommend it!
Review 53:I loved the beautiful renovations and staying downtown. Comfortable bed & nice views! The staff at TEN restaurant was very attentive, as was the hotel staff & valet!
Review 54:Not a lot of counter space in the bathroom.
Review 55:Great restaurants on site. Location downtown is very accessible. If traveling to Billings by plane, you would not need a car - shuttle can pick you up and then hotel is very central to shops.
Review 56:I was here for business but still had the opportunity to explore the facility and enjoy all the things the Northern had to offer (Bernies, Ten, Fitness Center). The staff was also very attentive and friendly throughout the stay.
Review 57:/wife hates size of bathroom counters - bathroom sinks are ugly - hard to use and certainly not what should be in a bathroom of that size. Who ever made the decision to use them must be brain dead.
Review 58:Great location - friendly staff - great valet staff performance - reasonable price - very clean - great beds and very quiet - nice breakfast menu - beautiful lobby and nicely appointed rooms.
Review 59:While the room was small, it was very comfortable and clean. The beds and pillows were amazing which was just what we needed after a 14 hour flight. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay there again.
Review 60:The entire experience was exceptional. Because of road construction and no apparent parking it was wonderful to have a complementary valet service. The people answered all questions and had information at their fingertips
Review 61:The British lady's voice of the elevator rushes me (;
Review 62:The bed, the view, the shampoo, the conditioner. Loved watching airplanes land from afar, quiet, the restaurant, the gift shop and it's employees
Review 63:TEN was a disappointment. Looks great and service is very solid. Food was very average. Had the elk which was very chewey. Skip it.
Review 64:If traveling to Billings stay here. Wonderful property with great location. Small rooms but clean and comfortable. Excellent little hotel. Bernie's Diner is wonderful. Great food and great service.
Review 65:There was a bachelorette party in the rooms around me, so I was awoken at 2 am and again at 7 am to them being quite loud in the hallway.
Review 66:Plenty of stores and restaurants to walk to, also has an airport shuttle- which came in handy when the airport failed to provide my reserved car.
Review 67:Late night noise from outside with drag racing kept us awake for quite some time
Review 68:Tasteful and warm hospitality. Room was excellent, clean and comfortable with all of the creature comforts.
Review 69:The desk staff was unfriendly and acted like they had better things to do then help with my check out.
Review 70:Nice place. Valet parking is free and the valet staff was great.
Review 71:Valet parking tended to be a bit of a cluster. The front desk and the valet parking inbetween the shop the store the dinner tended to be quit awkward. This also left te car chasers hdk g the bag No mention of vet or the wait at the front desk Very disconnected
Review 72:I loved the fact that we were able to book a room at a reasonable price and would like to have access to more when deals are available because it's just nice to get away from the kids quarterly
Review 73:Staff were disorganized and rather pushy. The rooms require a good cleaning, dust under furniture and behind the doors was so thick it could be measured. Meals in restaurant did not have value for money. Watch you bill, we had a room service charge that should not have been on the bill. Jim & Joan
Review 74:Lobby was quite well appointed.
Review 75:Parking remained a mess at the time of our stay - the free valet service definitely helped that though.
Review 76:The hotel is very nice inside, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and rather elegant even. Everything is in good repair and the staff was very helpful. Great location too - a good brew pub and other restaurants nearby.
Review 77:I called down 20 mins in advance to get my car from Valet. When I came down they brought the wrong car. I waited another 20 mins for them to get mine. Which made me late.
Review 78:Staff were very Friendly and welcoming.
Review 79:No newspaper at door in the morning. No refrigerator in room for what you pay and a coffee pot would have been nice in the room. The front desk didn't tell me about coffee in the morning till I was about to checking out. Had to ask front desk for a laundry bag when I left. Told her there was not one in the room. She said they ran out and gave me small bag!!! Told her I was flying back to Arizona. Front desk was ok ...
Review 80:Room was nice. The bed was very nice.
Review 81:We called down to the front desk for toilet paper on the first day, never receive any. The next day we stop at the front desk to get some because we were out! We also told them about some panties on the window ledge that needed to be removed. When we came back that night nothing had changed and the room was not cleaned & now we were out of soap and clean towels. On the 3rd day every thing we clean, but why did it take three days?
Review 82:Restrants
Review 83:Very comfortable bed, the suite was well put together with very adequate water pressure and hot water. The restaurant for dinner was totally amazing food! Even breakfast in their casual cafe was delicious!
Review 84:The closet space for hanging clothes is too minimal. Leather chair in room was terrible! Very uncomfortable. We used the desk chair instead. I missed a floor length mirror so I could make sure I looked good before attending the event I was there for. Bed was too soft for my liking. I am a stomach sleeper and I had to sleep without a pillow to be comfortable.
Review 85:I liked the public spaces. They were warm and inviting. Staff was friendly and courteous and very helpful. Bathroom in room was fabulous and well designed.
Review 86:No pool, which would have been nice for our toddler. The rooms are small, and with a young child, there wasn't much room to spread out. And again, this is a product of the hotel maybe being geared more toward adults, but no bath tub. Always easier to bathe children in a tub. And we just may not be used to valet and staff helping bring our luggage to and from our room, but it was a little uncomfortable at times always having the staff standing and waiting as we loaded and unloaded our little girl and all her stuff in and out of the car. Tough when you felt the need to tip all of the time, but again, that may just be us not used to that kind of thing!
Review 87:The room and hotel in General was very clean. The linens on the bed smelled nice and clean. Didn't hesitate to curl up on the bed. You can't beat the location-right in the heart of downtown Billings with many restaurant options within walking distance. Free valet parking. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay. The room we had was VERY quiet and we had a great view of the city from a corner room.
Review 88:Restaurants were both very good.
Review 89:Great location! Very close to everything and a lovely way to spend our anniversary!
Review 90:Would like a better selection on TV
Review 91:Wonderful beds - great for a bad back. Breakfast at the restaurant next to the hotel was super.
Review 92:Bathroom was very unfunctional. No counter space. Sink was ridiculous. Room way too small.
Review 93:Fabulous Bar - Ten was amazing. Staff nice.
Review 94:Beautiful rooms and hotel. Great little cafe and bar inside with friendly staff. Next time I'm in Billings I will definitely stay here again.
Review 95:The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 109:Great decor. Lovely bathroom.
Review 110:very modern, upscale, comfortable hotel
Review 111:the location and the staff
Review 112:The performance of the kitchen in the diner was disappointing.
Review 113:Attractive lobby, room, etc.
Review 114:Lobby decor is beautiful. Rooms look great.beds are very comfortable & quiet. The free coffee in the lobby is excellent.
