Reviews for Thompson Miami Beach

Review 1:Carpet in the hotel room - it's a challenge but the carpets always look like an international bacteria summit. Many extra charges after check out. Annoying during breakfast: when waiters seem to be under pressure to get more buck out of the guests.

Review 2:Great, great staff, very nice bar and location is superb.

Review 3:Uncomfortable old moldy cushions on pool lounge beds. Noisy air conditioning, room did not face the beach as pictured, bad food. Unpleasant smells in lobby.

Review 4:Located on a nice part of the beach. Pool area close to beach area and Boardwalk . Good massages at spa. Discounted rates.

Review 5:a closed door is separated from the second capacity . I listened at 8 am the next phone call. as if it had been me ...

Review 6:the staff is fantastic and polite. Nice hotel .

Review 7:Only 3 lift that even back of house uses the same lifts so you wait a lot for the lifts Not many breakfast options for adults especially for the kids Vale parking is too expensive but it is like that for all south beach hotels I guess

Review 8:Close to beach. Rooms are nice

Review 9:Maintenance was in room for 2 hours trying to fix a door. They told us to use the text system to let them know when we wanted to get car. But text system wasn't working. Much confusion at breakfast. Didn't know where we could sit. Staff no help.

Review 10:Location

Review 11:Walls are thin, so we could hear our next-door neighbors sneeze, much less talk or watch TV. They would wake us up at night when they got home or in the morning when their alarm clock would go off. Really frustrating. There is no parking included, so we had to pay an extra $39 to valet it each day. This was not clear when making the reservation and we wouldn't have stayed here if we realized that was the case. The gym is lovely, but tiny and always crowded. The fitness classes were cancelled both times I tried to go. The food at the hotel restaurants was ridiculously expensive for tiny portions and below average quality.

Review 12:Great location & views - our room overlooked the ocean. Fairly clean, well-stocked mini bar with drinks and snacks.

Review 13:The beach club run out of towels on more than one occasion - service at times was a little slow. The initial check in was unfriendly and slightly rude!

Review 14:The food at both restaurants and the beach was excellent.

Review 15:Restaurants were not as good as advertised - still decent though.

Review 16:Rooms are a good size and very well decorated. Beach access and the pool side is very good. The bed was very comfy.

Review 17:Staff was overwhelmed by holiday rush and/ or not properly trained. Service was not great.

Review 18:Location and design was great. Nice pool and beach. Great use of space

Review 19:There were a lot of kids around the pool, so maybe not the right place if you're looking to chill, but then again, the beach is a great other option

Review 20:Great location on miami beach, great little pool, and within walkable distance of everything you need to go visit whilst in town

Review 21:Room was scruffy in places Wifi was slow Gym small No robe(s) in room Decor questionable

Review 22:The pool area was reasonable, although it looks much bigger on the photos

Review 23:Minor, but the staff utilizes the same elevator as the guests. As a result, trips on the elevator take a little longer.

Review 24:The toilet and shower are in separate rooms, and the plus is a rain fall shower.

Review 25:Staff were complete hit or miss. Some of the best and worst staff I have experienced in a hotel. Facilities are over stated - Pool tiki bar is sort of a joke for the type of hotel they're gunning for, however staff at bar were great and decently trained at cocktails. "Bungalow" seems to be nothing more than a pool shed with a bar. Although we paid premium for NYE high-season, hotel was severely overpriced, even for area (Fontainebleu, Soho Beach House, Miami EDITION etc).

Review 26:Rooms are well appointed, decorated nicely. Hotel is well maintained with some luxury features. Pool and pool staff were best part. Location is ace.

Review 27:The room was tiny! And the carpeting and bathroom are in need of renovation.

Review 28:The location was great, and our balcony had a very nice view of the water.

Review 29:Loved the décor of the hotel and generally the standard of the hotel, pool, sunbeds drinks and food! The staff were really nice always happy to help, even gave me a free coke when I was hung-over :)

Review 30:Over-priced parking (ended up parking in a public lot a 10-minute walk away). 20% service charge, which seems to be endemic in Miami.

Review 31:All staff very nice. Talde Restaurant on site really excellent. Right on Boardwalk, for long beachside walks.

Review 32:Staff very friendly and the ladies of conceirge ampon and brenda werevery willing to schedule and recommend . beautiful resort the manager isvery approachable and attentive to his guests

Review 33:We LOVED this hotel! We felt so at home there. The hotel decor is beautiful in the rooms, bar and pool. The atmosphere is very laid back, the staff are extremely friendly, we ate at both restaurants and both we're great. I would highly recommend this hotel and want to go back already!

Review 34:Lovely art deco hotel completely remodeled but still retaining the charm of the period. Although further up the main strip than some of the other hotels, that makes it a little quieter. Easy access to beach, public transportation make it an ideal location to go sight seeing from.

Review 35:Check in the wrong room Extra charge for nothing 40 dollars parking Lots of hidden fees What u book is not what u pay

Review 36:Nice location. Nice room

Review 37:Poor massage but that might have been bad luck.

Review 38:Nice location. Away from the annoying crowds but not too far. Gets the balance right between chilled vs cool and style vs comfort.

Review 39:At the 12th floor (South), the sound from the airco machine at the top of the neighboring building was quite present, even with the window closed.

Review 40:Great swimming pool and direct access to the beach. Great amenities. Very good staff. Excellent value for money.

Review 41:Tiny bedroom and no drawers to out underwear away. Loud room doors, can hear other people's doors slam shut all the time.

Review 42:Good sized bathroom and comfy bed. Fabulous massage.

Review 43:Expensive on the food and beverage side. Annoying to find service added at 20 per cent to all cheques then an additional tip box left open for further gratuities - ridiculous. As well as Florida state tax and Miami Beach tax this property added another 20 dollars 'resort tax' onto my room each night. Felt crowded when busy particularly around the pool.

Review 44:Friendly staff, nice rooms, very comfortable bed.

Review 45:- 20% service is added to each check you sign .... and then a gap for more of a tip ... must by kidding - there is a "resort fee" of about $28 added per day .... asked why ... for the pool and towels ... scam - it is away from any restaurants - you need to take a cab. South Beach would be a better choice

Review 46:nice place, nice pool, pool warm

Review 47:The the wait staff was very friendly but the wait for food at the restaurant seemed a bit long.

Review 48:Great location, nice place, not too big, staff went above and beyond to make sure I had an enjoyable stay.

Review 49:We are used to free coffee in the room or at least free coffee in the lobby. I don't know if it's a Miami Beach thing or not, but nothing was free and even the coffee had a 20% service charge added. I just hope that meant the staff were well paid and it didn't go to the man!

Review 50:We liked the staff and the beach location and pools. We were switched to a balcony room with a view of the beach for $50 a night extra, which we thought was worth it.

Review 51:Could not find anything we did not like.

Review 52:Staff was attentive, responsive, courteous, and was fluent in their positions. Their directions to sights and locations of interest were immediate and accurate. Would recommend to friends and plan to return.

Review 53:Elevators tended to be slow.

Review 54:Staff was friendly and helpful across the board! Really enjoyed their restaurant Talde. Bed was super comfortable. Hotel grounds well groomed and oasis like!

Review 55:The fitness room need a face lift regards to spa interior.

Review 56:The bed was the best best with! Helpful staff in the reception. Roomsize s little small, but nicerly decorated. Bathroom clean and very styilsh. Free sunbeds on the beach.

Review 57:Our room, ocean view balcony, was very small, no more than 3' around the bed, however the view nearly made up for it, and the room was a bit tired.

Review 58:From the moment the valet opens your car door to the moment he closes it on your departure the staff make sure you are looked after. At all times, bar the blonde guy looking after the beach, the employees are curtious, friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again with no hesitation and recommend it to all family and colleagues. The 1920's bar is wonderful.

Review 59:I did not like that 20% gratuity was added to all bills I think it should be 15% then if excellent service is giving you tip extra

Review 60:This was one of the nicest decorated places I have ever stayed had a fantastic vibe

Review 61:automatic gratuity of 20% is added to all bills (i.e. pool bar, meals etc). We missed this note on the bill slip (our miss, but no server particularly called it out), so we inadvertently tipped an additional "discretionary tip" of 18% on top of the automatic 20% the entire first day before we realized. Pool bar overcharged us for the type of beer we were ordering (per price on their menus) and when I asked for the charges to be corrected the manager did so but was less than pleasant about it. No apology. It took 20 minutes for our car to be retrieved by the valet when they promise 10 mins... which is $40/day.

Review 62:very nice pool and beach areas. comfortable lounge chairs. Rooms very nice... we were on the 9th floor and noise was not an issue. Restaurant Seagrape has a lovely vibe on the patio -- we had an excellent breakfast with good service there.

Review 63:The service in the restaurant was a bit slow but the waiters were very nice and when your relaxing on vacation you don't really mind! (Food and cocktails were excellent)

Review 64:The staff was incredibly friendly. The amenities especially pool area and decor were great! Loved the watermelon water they had in a cooler by the pool, the music and abdundant seating. Love the location right on the boardwalk just a few steps from the beach.

Review 65:Drinks and food are overpriced. No coffee maker in the room. Room near elevator was very noisy.

Review 66:The grounds, pools and outside areas are beautiful and well staffed. It never seemed overly crowded even tho hotel was full.

Review 67:A bit pricy, I found particularly a no go to charge 19 usd for anumbrella at the beach. They always include 20% tip, whereas the rest ofMiami gives you the option of choosing from 15-20%

Review 68:Small room, partial ocean view instead of expected full. Super old carpeting inside the rooms with stains. Dirty dusty playground with stains of paint instead of promised normal crib for the baby... Expensive amenities...

Review 69:Clean beach, good location, friendly staff

Review 70:The location and style of the hotel are perfect, the service is flawless. Quiet room, excellent wifi. Beautiful retro style, but all modern amenities.

Review 71:* some staff were extremely rude and un welcoming . But on the other hand their are some absolute gems as well. Next trip I'll stay at the soho house, were the staff are more pleasant !

Review 72:Pool area is lovely. Room was lovely and spacious

Review 73:Poor continental breakfast (very limited choice) for USD 18 per person + taxes. Very expensive valet parking at USD 39 per night. Small rooms.

Review 74:Location with direct access to the beach.

Review 75:I learnt that my booking was cancelled weeks before when I got to the hotel reception, yet I was getting messages on my phone confirming my booking up to the last hour. I even did online check-in prior to my arrival. Please synchronize your online system with what is really happening. It looks like nobody ever looks at the online system, it produces automated responses which the hotel staff is not aware of.

Review 76:The guys that help with luggage were amazing, the restaurant staff and the food was very good.

Review 77:My first room was a box; everywhere I turned I bumped into something. Cocktail waitresses outside were lacking in attentiveness.

Review 78:Mostly everything. Especially the nice smell of cologne and/or perfume throughout the lobby and overall cleanliness. The bartenders were sharp and attended patrons quickly.

Review 79:Nothing to dislike

Review 80:Everything! It was just fantastic. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated like VIP's. Every member of staff were so polite and couldn't do enough for us. The room was amazing, the view of the pool and beach was just lovely. The bathroon was huge and had lovely tolietries and complimentary bathrobes. The bed was so comfortable, we had the best nights sleep. The staff around the pool couldn't do enough for you. Just so relaxing. Wished we'd booked more nights there. The beach was 1 minute away and beds and towels were free. Can't compliment the hotel enough. Worth every penny!! Thanks for a memorable week.

Review 81:We absolutely loved this modern-retro hotel. It felt like home. There was nothing lacking-from front desk check in to check out. EVERYTHING was awesome!

Review 82:As an Englishman the mandatory 20% gratuity on everything took some getting used to.

Review 83:This is a seriously cool looking hotel. Great service, comfortable rooms and a great pool and beach.

Review 84:Everyone seemed to be holding out their hand for tips. The valet held onto my car keys until I gave him a tip. If you're into the whole music scene and are at that appropriate age, and rich, you'll like this place.

Review 85:It is a beautiful place.

Review 86:Nothing bad to say! Go ahead and book for an amazing stay on Miami Beach :)

Review 87:- Great location - Outstanding customer experience, the staff is extremely well skilled in any way, going the extra mile to make you feel welcome - Extremely well decorated, spacious, clean and stylish - Extremely nice private beach and pool area - The restaurants on site are very good but on the pricy end - Very spacious room (we had the kingsize) with great view on Miami skyline

Review 88:The staff!!! Some of the friendliest, most helpful and attentive I have ever encountered. Made us feel welcome and familiar. From the head of concierge to the beach attendants, all were incredibly engaging and interested. Completely genuine in every way. Hats off to Jorge, restaurant manager at Seagrape. He ensured we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at this spectacular eatery.

Review 89:I had a room booked with ocean view, but it was definitely a partial view and not as marketed. However the staff gave us another room with full ocean view and great balcony.

Review 90:The boutique style and great service of the staff

Review 91:Everything was perfect...location...beach...pool...and also the guy in the front Alex he help us too much with bus tour and providing us the places to visit

Review 92:Maybe a little pricey and they charge you extra for every good and service. But every charge is explained and it might worth it.

Review 93:I liked everything about this hotel. The service staff is very helpful, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. I could describe it as "cool" with its bara and reataurants and pools and of course the beach just in there. The area (mid-beach) is very nice. I will Come back

Review 94:Food and drink aren't cheap, but that seems to be the same for the whole of Miami Beach!

Review 95:Great hotel recently reopened after full refurbishment, ideal location, relaxed atmosphere with the most friendly, helpful staff I've ever come across. Highly recommended.

Review 96:Room was not cleaned one day even though we were out for at least 5hours that day. Then they charged the wrong credit card at the end ofour stay. We waited so long for drinks one evening, we went elsewhere. This place has a few issues which is a shame. The overall running of theHotel was not smooth, it was pretty chaotic.

Review 97:Limited restaurant options in the hotel. Food was good but very high end, I am a very simple eater so not much I enjoyed. Breakfast was very good. I don't think they should allow smoking on the beach, or at least have a designated area.

Review 98:Staff was beyond helpful, Spa was amazing walking distance to other restaurants, beach staff and service was fantastic

Review 99:Shower controls were confusing; couldn't get water temperature right. Was a bit annoyed by some ticky-tack pricing like being told on the hotel beach that a chair with an umbrella cost $19 after being told at reception that I was entitled to 2 free chairs and 2 towels, but using only one of each. $7 (incl. tax and mandatory tip) for a Diet Coke at the pool also seemed goofy

Review 100:Great location, nice room, comfortable bed, good restaurant.

Review 101:I had to call and ask for my room to be made up and for towels to be refreshed, that was around 3pm. I would expect my room to be cleaned up when I get back from being out all morning. They don't have ice machines on the floors, so I had to request ice, and when they brought it, it was in a bag, not in an ice bucket. Not a deal breaker by any means, but just a little odd.

Review 102:Beautiful retro chic hotel, loved the decor of the rooms. The 2 pools were nice and the service staff was great. I loved the laid back scene at the pool. Would definitely come back.

Review 103:I paid for a king bed with an ocean view and a 72 inch tv. I got a partial ocean view room & a 35 inch tv. The bed is facing the door so if you're in bed & you're receiving room service, they would just see you lying there.

Review 104:The ambiance was awesome. Pool was the best.

Review 105:Se didnt like the bedroom size, it was really small! We could not open the suitcases in the floor because there wasnt a single sq ft to do so. The staff was correct but never really nice, lots of people in the lobby waiting to be attend.

Review 106:The hotel is very clean, the hotel in general has very nice furniture, confortable bed.

Review 107:At both Check In and Check out the otherwise helpful staff seemed confused. They actually charged me for an extra night and I haven't got a refund yet.

Review 108:Loved the Retro Florida feel…Big Room! Seagrape Restaurant was very delicious!!! Grounds and Pool were gorgeous

Review 109:I didn't like the fact that one of the hotel staff offered complimentary breakfast and coffee to some guest but I was told they didn't offer it.

Review 110:I like the ocean view.

Review 111:A little further from SoBe than expected, and like everything in Miami, very expensive. Rooms were a tad small.

Review 112:Beautiful, newly renovated property with excellent food and staff. Has a nice, funky vibe.

Review 113:umbrella hire for $20 was a bit unreasonable they should be freely available.

Review 114:The hotel was spectacular! The pools were amazing! It was close to the beach as well. All the staff were more than happy to help with and requests

Review 115:That I could not stay one more time re day!

Review 116:I was so happy from the moment I stepped out at Valet. Every staff member smiling. Room perfect. The pool side 'house' had a great decor with a bar of fresh herbs and juices. Alex made a cocktail 'Lucifer's kiss' that was exactly the perfect start to a massage, food, and perfect location! The massage I had by healing hands was beyond incredible. In fact I am still walking taller. Not to pretentious yet incredible chic. I know where my future retreats will be! Merci, Gracias, et Danke, thank you Thompson Hotel

Review 117:The overall appearance of the hotel, the way the rooms were decorated with an art deco flair and the grounds. The staff was always so cordial and pleasant. Not to mention Seagrape Restaurant. Wonderful!

Review 118:The room was very small, NO coffe maker machine (can not imagine for this 4 star hotel). Resort fee does not include beach umbrella :(((( also does not make sense for me, chairs and towels, yes, umbrella NO. Restaurant beside the lobby is not really good, i would not recommend it

Review 119:Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Especially on the beach and pool and restaurant on the back of the hotel. We like this restaurant very much.

Review 120:The food and drinks were very expensive, but also very good, and I thinkthis is normal for Miami Beach... But would be nice to have a fewcheaper options as well.

Review 121:Loved this hotel and are hoping we can go back soon! Staff wereexcellent, the room was gorgeous and very comfortable, and we loved thepool, beach and restaurant. Although this is a big hotel is still has aspecial, boutique feel.

Review 122:From the moment you walk through the door you are surrounded by a beautiful smell which immediately helps you relax staff are really friendly rooms are pure luxury the bed and pillow are so comfortable bathroom products amazing view breath taking pool side perfect

Review 123:Not much to complain about, but get to the pool and/or beach early on the weekends to get a chair!

Review 124:Very welcoming staff, beautiful property, new furnishings in the rooms...everything was excellent!

Review 125:My room over looked the neighboring hotels air conditioning which was loud

Review 126:The rooms seem large be of high ceilings, clean, love the fresh color style patterns, staff is friendly outgoing I never opened a door

Review 127:Everything is VERY expensive at this hotel. Food, drinks, cabanas by the pool and at the beach etc. his hotel. For instance breakfast costs around $ 150 for 3 adults and 2 small kids. They charged us $ 3 for one (1) banana for our sick son as he had stomach pain and just wanted a piece of fruit.

Review 128:Location right on the beach and on Miami Mid Beach, unlimited valet parking for $ 40 a day, facilities, room and the room view.

Review 129:Wifi was somewhat spotty on the beach portion of the property, but only a minor inconvenience.

Review 130:Overall great vacation! Beautiful ocean view balcony. Staff was courteous and service was a 10/10. Made a special request via Booking.com to the hotel which was gratefully fulfilled - Thank you so much! :)

Review 133:The price of food and drinks are unnecessarily expensive. I understand it's Miami, but $18 for a drink!?

Review 134:The view of the beach from our room was running. The facilities were very clean and in great condition. The complimentary beach and poolside chairs and towels were appreciated. The staff at the beach went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and provided some the best cocktails I've ever had. The location is perfect.

Review 135:The lobby: it is very noisy, very busy and not welcoming. It made the check-in process unpleasant and doesn't do the hotel any justice.

Review 136:Excellent facilities. Wonderful pool. Great location -- great style.

Review 137:Very packed around the pool and terrible service, had the salad forlunch one day which was a complete rip off - a large chunk of lettucewith 4 half baby plum tomatoes and two tiiiiny pieces of avocado -usd18! At the beach you pay extra for umbrellas. Very small balcony.Location good just kind of high up on SoBe 41st street.

Review 138:Nicely decorated rooms, great own beach, nice resto and live music oneeve, clean
