Reviews for Hardman House
Review 1:Carpet in the room was really old, stained and dingy, very off-putting. Floors were thin, could hear/feel footsteps of people upstairs and around us. Pillows were atrocious: two were shapeless bags of lumpy filling and one was very flat. The thermostat didn't seem to work - the room was constantly at 70+ degrees and a bit stuffy so we tried to cool it down but on "Cool" the fan spit out hot air. Finally gave up and cracked a window. Minor thing, but quite a lot of the cable tv channels didn't work, including HBO, despite the fact that there was an HBO flyer next to the tv.
Review 2:Very kind staff, good breakfast selection, seemed clean aside from carpet. Quiet. Bed was a bit firm and springy but fairly comfortable. Fairly new LCD flatscreen tv.
Review 3:bit dated but nice.
Review 4:welcoming staff. large room and clean. great breakfast selection. 20-30min to lake tahoe. feels like the owners put a lot of effort in- rivals chain hotels.
Review 5:Carpets didn't seem very clean but it may be because they were worn out.
Review 6:Very friendly staff. Mostly clean rooms. OK breskfast. Very good value for the money.
Review 7:Friendly staff, comfortable beds Excellent parking facilities Very tasty breakfast....not your run of the mill "doughnuts and coffee" stuff.
Review 8:The garage parking is great and I felt safe. The only problem is you have to be careful when you back out, not to hit the poles.
Review 9:I like the location and safety of the Hotel. The staff is great, the room is a great size, and the breakfast is good.
Review 10:That the weekend came to a close and we had to go home.
Review 11:I liked the fact that the staff was professional yet friendly, and that they serve breakfast. It was conveniently located downtown and close to where we were visiting over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Review 12:No amenities (i.e, no fitness room). A potential concern is that the elevator from underground parking can go directly to the guest floors with no room key required. The parking garage is unsecured and accessible to the public so basically anyone can get to the guest floors with little notice of the front desk. Security might be something the hotel would like to review considering a homeless person came into the lobby to get breakfast and had to be shooed away.
Review 13:A clean, well maintained hotel close to downtown. Breakfast was basic continental but fresh.
Review 14:That was without a doubt the worst bed we have ever slept on. Would be great as a trampoline. Get new beds. The TV reception was terrible. Every 20 minutes it was interrupted with a message about an update that never occurred. Called the Front Desk and it was blamed on he cable company.
Review 15:The linen and towels were very nice.
Review 16:The hotel was well located. Staff was responsive to our needs. The room was large. Although a bit dated, it was a great value. We would stay there again.
Review 17:Bathroom fixtures need upgrading. Nooks and crannies need to be cleaned. Fridge needs replacing.
Review 18:People were very friendly. Room was comfortable. Linens in good condition.
Review 19:Breakfast was BAD. Choice's were few. What Continental Breakfast has no pastries? Really!?!?!
Review 20:Location was great. Good price. Helpful staff. Clean quiet room. Underground parking.
Review 21:The room didn't have AC and was too warm for our taste.
Review 22:The breakfast selection was fantastic. We really liked the location and friendliness of the staff.
Review 23:The entire hotel is non-smoking, which was not noted clearly in the details.
Review 24:Room was clean for a hotel and the staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. Great location in Downtown Carson City.
Review 25:Breakfast advertised outside as 'Deluxe', but actually, below par
Review 26:Incredible value for money Very clean & comfortable Great night's sleep Decent shower Free wine between 4 & 6 Free cookies
Review 27:Beds were horrid!! They were extremely hard & you could feel every spring in it..breakfast was nasty and the morning clerk was rude
Review 28:The young lady who checked us in was friendly and helpful
Review 29:I would like to have had a few more choices at breakfast, but overall it was OK.
Review 30:The room was very quiet and we were never disturbed during the night. Also, the underground parking was nice.
Review 31:The staff was really friendly! I had a nice chat with them in the morning after the breakfast, and the breakfast was much better then in all other motels we stayed!
Review 32:the water temp in the shower kept fluctuating. Staff needs to work on their customer service skills. They weren't outright rude but not very good at customer service.
Review 33:Clean. Rooms are large.
Review 34:Room was really smelly, and didn't seem clean. contacted me after booking to charge more...already apparently more than double the usual charge. Not worth it.
Review 35:Great location in the prettiest part of down town. Nice lobby/ breakfast room. could try harder on breakfast offering though peeling a cold boiled egg for breakfast was something we hadn't done in a while.
Review 36:Bed was uncomfortable. Hotel had an unpleasant odor, tile floor and carpet did not appear to be cleaned well.
Review 37:staff were helpful, walking distance to eating establishments. Air conditioner was quiet for older hotel.
Review 38:Dirty towels were left in room ( behind bathroom door) from previous occupants. Table top was dirty with food crumbs and there were food crumbs also in the small refrig.
Review 39:The beds were very uncomfortable
Review 40:Location was fantastic the staff was extremely well and pleasant the fresh baked cookies every night we're quite a treat
Review 41:There was mold in the bathroom. Chips on porcelain. We took the stairway to the underground garage and it was spooky and very dirty. There were no lights in the underground garage and did not feel safe.I reported the mold. The fan in the bathroom was extremely noisy and I didn't use the shower because I felt crawly with the mold and noisy fan. One of the lamps didn't work. The carpet in the hallway and in our room was extremely dirty with large spots on it.
Review 42:It was convenient. I made the reservation based on the 8.0 recommendation, but was so disappointed. Next time, I will continue to stay at the Day's Inn. I thought it would be an up=grade.
Review 43:Carpet in the hallway needs replacing.
Review 44:Comfortable and clean. Excellent location near capital building and short walk to restaurants. Wine and cookies during'happy hour'. Underground parking was convenient and close to elevator.
Review 45:They could have a few more choices for breakfast such as muffins, danish, more fresh fruit and perhaps toaster waffles. The neighborhood isn't the best. Perhaps they could gate the parking lot for added safety.
Review 46:Quiet and comfortable. Good location.
Review 47:The hotel needs updating. The carpets are dingy and dirty in places. The bathroom showed signs of aging - yellowing, peeling. Mattresses were old. Breakfast consisted of toast options and some fruit.
Review 48:The staff was helpful, enthusiastic and friendly. When we called for extra towels, they were brought up immediately.
Review 49:I stayed here with my crew for the TRT 100—and had a pleasant and uneventful experience. The building is old, as are the rooms, but everything was working (especially the air conditioning!) and clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and we had absolutely no unpleasant surprises. In fact, the room/experience was far better than last-minute bookings (as this one was!) usually are. I'd definitely stay here again.
Review 50:Nothing significant.
Review 51:Upgraded to a double queen room on the third floor. Good sized clean and quiet non-smoking room.Lots of parking and an above average breakfast which included fruit and hardboiled eggs. Pleasant staff. Good value. Would definitely stay again.
Review 52:the property already very old, black mold in bathroom, ceiling height is too low especially in hallways - my 9 years old kid was able to jump and hit ceiling...
Review 53:Service was good (checkin/checkout)
Review 54:Couldn't get the room cooled down enough. We checked out several hours early to go find a more comfortable environment.
Review 55:Nice location, very nice staff.
Review 56:Wow ok. The floors were nasty I didn't want to take shoes or socks off and walk on there floors. As walking out we noticed other rooms were the same huge stains all over carpet. I don't think steam cleaning would fix these carpeta. When talked to manager she was rude un corporative. Regina. I be leave was her name.she 2as very argument. Like it was our fault there floors were nasty. The breakfest was a joke. Box cerial Maybe a couple apples and oranges oat meal packages. Just a joke. And foe 105. Rip off. This place for conditions needs to be Mayne 30.00 a night not what thwy are charging. If thwy gave me a free room I wouldn't stay there
Review 57:That's a hard one. Free WiFi is about the only thing I liked in this place.
Review 58:Centrally located, clean, comfortable, not just another cookie cutter chain, it had character. I wanted to enjoy the charm and history of the area and this fit the bill perfectly. Reasonably priced, staff treated us more like old friends than customers. I'll be back.
Review 59:Dirty underground parking. Extremely dangerous and overloaded electrical outlets. They are hanging out of the wall with exposed wires. Old TV set.
Review 60:Location and ease of outside parking.
Review 61:Noisy air conditioner and over ripe bananas on the breakfast. No swimming pool.
Review 62:The location and staff were wonderful! Adequate off street parking. Not overpriced. Large room.
Review 63:Mattresses were hard. Each day they would leave one nice new towel and one older thin towel.
Review 64:The front desk attendants were pleasant and helpful with ideas for restaurants and sightseeing. Room was outdated but comfortable. Location was excellent for sightseeing downtown. Continental breakfast was out early and was adequate.
Review 65:We prefer a firm bed.
Review 66:It is within walking distance of fine restaurants and historic buildings on the Kit Carson trail. Appreciated secure parking under the building. Full breakfast was very good.
Review 67:There was no air conditioning when needed. We were told only one system could be run in the whole facility at a given time and it was currently on heat. They did bring in a fan.
Review 68:The staff was friendly and helpful
Review 69:Room was to hot at night. Was 75+ degrees with no air because their system won't do both heating and air conditioning at the same time. Breakfast was not deluxe, was boiled eggs and toast.
Review 70:Location , quiet
Review 71:It's dated and could use a renovation.
Review 72:The rooms were large. Great location downtown. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Underground parking was a nice feature.
Review 73:Check in was great but the morning staff sucked. Breakfast was a pick of cold cereal or yogurt, a banana or orange, and a muffin. They ran out of coffee and wen asked for more everyone (5 of us) were told " paper work comes first". It took 1/2 an hour.
Review 74:Confortable bed, clean room, small TV
Review 75:Is in the center of town. Comfortable room and beds. Good breakfast. The wine and cookies offered in the lobby in the afternoon were a pleasant touch.
Review 76:Nothing bad to report, except the breakfast might have had a little more variety.
Review 77:The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The room and bed were very comfortable. This hotel is in a very convenient location.
Review 78:FOR SOME REASON, THE LAST VISIT, I COULD SMELL SMOKING FROM A NON SMOKING ROOM? AIR CONDITIONER DID NOT WORK...TOO TIRED TO ASK FOR ANOTHER ROOM
Review 79:CLEAN, COMFY FRIENDLY....REPEAT CUSTOMER.
Review 80:Nothing
Review 81:The under cover parking. The size of the room - Excellent! The comfort of the bed - Very Comfortable The Location - right in the heart of the city - Excellent.
Review 82:Stayed on the 3rd floor and it was very warm. We had the temperature turned off and had to have the both windows open for the night as the fan for the air conditioner was too noisy.
Review 83:Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Fridge and microwave oven in room. Clean. Continental breakfast. Underground parking. Free WIFI that worked in our room.
Review 84:The price was great. Friendly staff and clean well kept facility. The floor lamp by the table didn't work and the electrical outlet by the bathroom sink was intermittent. These were minor and we would definitely stay again.
Review 85:Bathroom could be neater and cleaned properly.
Review 86:We stayed here for one night. Staff was really helpful, friendly and genuine. They offered us some wine when we arrived.
Review 87:No actual freezer on fridge. Wi-Fi will disconnect while in use necessitating re-entry of password to reactivate
Review 88:covered parking. quiet hallways. courteous staff.
Review 89:The narrow parking spaces below.
Review 90:The complimentary wine and cookies in the evening, very good breakfast with homemade breads, lift, rollaway baggage cart, quiet room, and comfortable community lounge. Easy road access.
Review 91:Our room would need a modernisation, it was old with stains on the carpet and smelled a little funny.
Review 92:Very friendly staff. From 4-6 they offer delicioud cookies and wine. The wifi is very good. It is located in the center of carson city and it is a 30min ride to lake tahoe.
Review 93:This is our third stay at Hardman House. It's right downtown, so you can walk to restaurants and the state buildings. The staff is very friendly. It's not a chain hotel, so the staff is informal and very nice. Home-like lobby. If you want fancy amenities, you would not be happy here, but it is a very nice local place in the heart of Carson City.
Review 94:There is a lot that needs attention, rating posted at desk was 8.7 Not even close!! I wrote l along review that was not posted but suffice to say a major disappointment.
Review 95:Underground parking, elevator indoor access to rooms.
Review 96:AC wasn't working. it was cold outside but really hot in the room. apparently they turn off ac when it gets cold outside.
Review 97:close to grocery, close to aquatic facility for the nevada state meet, staff was pleasant and accomodating
Review 98:We choose this hotel because we had stayed there previously but the place has deteriorated since our last visit. It needs a total revamp. Entering the lobby I noticed the dirty chairs and the carpets were dirty everywhere. Our bathroom was so bad that we would have asked for a different room if we weren't too tired to move everything. The washbasin and the toilet were chipped especially the toilet seat which was disgusting. We would not go there again.
Review 99:The sink was out-dated & chipped but clean Our bed was uncomfortable..rolled into the middle
Review 100:The staff was very friendly The breakfast was very substantial It was quiet The rooms and lobby were clean Very nice sitting area in the lobby Happy with my choice Great for the money Would stay there again
Review 101:Staff was not fully attentive to our concerns. When we reported the thermostat in the room did not work, there were only excuses as to how it wasn't the person behind the desks fault. It would be better if there was a 'thanks for letting us know we'll look into that' attitude.
Review 102:Location in Downtown Carson City is great. The site provided easy access to Restaurants, Capitol Building and Museums.
Review 103:The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were large and clean. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were not hard as rocks. the hotel is very quiet and we had no trouble sleeping. We would stay there again.
Review 104:Wonderful friendly people who were always there to help. We enjoyed our Stay and would recommend Hardman to anyone. We enjoyed the Desk Staff, especially, Kimberly, who was so helpful in giving us directions. Kimberly is so efficient and friendly and warm. Our room was well cared for and the maid service excellent.
Review 105:Wife tried calling, couldn't get through--nobody there answered the phone
Review 106:Clean, comfortable room Useful amenities (fridge, microwave, coffee maker) for Extremely reasonable price Friendly staff
Review 107:The breakfast was just ok.
Review 108:The hotel was easily accessible and had a clean and quiet environment at a great value. We would absolutely stay there again.
Review 109:I was disappointed in the quality of the coffee and breakfast selection. Coffee was much better when I stayed at this hotel in the past. Also enjoyed breakfast selection much better at a prior stay. The air conditioning did not work in our room. Only hot air came out.
Review 110:The room was clean and the location was great. It was nice that breakfast is offered at no cost.
Review 111:A/c non existent. Was told by mgmt that it would take 20--30 min. Tocool down from 80 deg F. Cooled down to 78 and no colder. Turned it offand opened up windows for cooler air at night with street noise veryloud. Continental breakfast was sub-standard. Underground Garage parkingarea was dirty and not well lit and open with no security. Bathroom fansounded like a helicopter.
Review 112:The cost was fair considering the conditions. Mgmt was nice and cordial.
Review 113:The facility is in need up cosmetic updates, it's very dated.
Review 114:The place has charm and the staff was very nice. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable!
Review 115:Mattress a little too firm...
Review 116:Travelled for business and stayed five nights. For the money you can't beat it. Friendly, homey atmosphere, almost like a B&B. Great complimentary breakfast and happy hour. Excellent location.
Review 117:Commode not cleaned well. Under ed hadn't been vacuumed well and the carpet could use a cleaning, otherwise it seemed to be OK.
Review 118:The staff was easy to work with and friendly. Good location. Variety of breakfast food and coffee was always available.
Review 119:we stayed here on the way down to Yosemite and were pleased with facilities. Breakfast was convenient and complimentary. Dinner at the Thai restaurant Basil was excellent and within walking distance.
Review 120:Camping-style breakfast (instant oatmeal, boiled eggs, cookies, tea) No attractions nearby - a CAR is a must
Review 121:Spacious room Free underground parking Free wifi Good value for the money
Review 122:The curtains. They kept the light out completely. I prefer windows with 2 curtains; the thin light colored underlying curtain to allow some light with the darker colored to keep light out when sleeping or dressing.
Review 123:The location was excellent for the price. The room was comfy! As I arrived late in the evening, Debbie was very accomodating. Thank you!
Review 124:We were quite pleased with our room, the hospitality both checking in and out. It was in walking distance from many casinos and historical places of interest,
Review 125:long black hairs on the shower wall, were never cleaned off while we were there. nothing but english muffins for my husband to eat at the breakfast. need sugar free cereal choices
Review 126:Restriction on opening windows. Oops, opened before we saw the sign. Clerk could've known nearby restaurants better. Did manage an excellent, no thanks to him.
Review 127:Central location, parking facility, shower/tub
Review 128:The rooms were nice size. The location was great and we were able to walk to most of the places we wanted to go. The price was great and affordable. All in all, it was a very nice place to stay.
Review 129:Stated room was non smoking but it stunk like cigarettes. The A/C came on and off every 20 minutes and vibe rated. The pillows were lumpy and bed was hard.
Review 130:Location was fine
Review 131:No hot-tub, but that also meant less kids and more peace and quiet. Their is a community pool with a water slide just around the corner so still not a bad way to go if you did want a pool for kids. But, South Lake Tahoe was a 35 minute drive from the hotel.
Review 132:They upgraded my room for free. The hotel is in the heart of the city, with lots within walking distance. I'm a coffee snob, and I loved their free coffee in the lobby - provided fresh 24 hours a day. They have free fresh cookies and both red & white wines from 4pm to 6pm in the lobby. They provide a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a coffee pot in each room. The free breakfast was better than I had planned for. It was toast, cinnamon bread, English muffins, bagels, jams, butter, cream cheese, fresh fruits, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, cereal, milk, juice, tea and coffee. Perfect for me! Also they have free covered parking.
Review 133:Older place needs a facelift Need new flat screen TV's sized to the room. On 2nd floor could hear everything through the ceiling from 3rd floor room.
Review 134:Good Location Underground parking Friendly staff Great TV channel selection (but)
