Reviews for Lamplighter Inn-South

Review 1:Had to change rooms when we first checked in. The heater in the room was running on high, it was like a blast furnace when we opened the door. I tried turning the furnace down but the knob on the furnace was broken. No hot water in the second room.

Review 2:The staff was very nice and helpful.

Review 3:The hotel smelled bad and there was a drunk girl sitting on the couch greeting everyone. Thats classy! The hotel wanted to photo copy our debit card, strange!

Review 4:Nothing much

Review 5:I wish the tv had closed caption on it cause I am hard of hearing. The was a leak near the window but it was raining really bad. The bath tub needs slip resisted on it cause my son almost slip in the bath tub. Between the seat and wall there was a beer bottle left.

Review 6:The bed was really nice to sleep on. Chairs were comfortable. easy to get to. Not very noisy either.

Review 7:My 3 year old niece found a used brush in our room. So room must not be fully inspected during cleaning.

Review 8:Staff was very friendly and welcoming! Also that you got a discount at the attached restaurant that was open 24 hours! breakfast was good too!

Review 9:The only bad experience we had was the weather; cold, windy and rainy. The front desk clerk said they were checking on it, but were pretty sure they couldn't do much to change it.

Review 10:Convenient location, great price, entire hotel is clean, fresh and comfortable. All employees that we encountered in the hotel are friendly and efficient at what they do. Comfortable, attractive lobby. Continental breakfast is good, hot and cold food available, ample seating in the breakfast room. If you want a full breakfast or other breakfast items not on the continental, there is a full service cafe' just off the lobby, they are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Entire menu can be ordered around the clock. The food is good, prices affordable, service is great, the staff is friendly, due to the convenience and inclement weather we ate several meals there and enjoyed each one.

Review 11:The air kept going off

Review 12:The bed was comfy, the rooms were nice and clean. The staff was friendly and loved how private the outdoor pool was placed. We also loved the restaurant next to it

Review 13:The internet would only allow me to book a smoking room. I called the next morning to change it to a non smoking We did not get the room for non smoking. I had to buy Fabreeze and room air cleaner. I left with a sore throat and headache.

Review 14:The staff was wonderful. The breakfast was wonderful.

Review 15:We stayed at the west end and it took several minutes for hot water. I called the desk and they said it could take up to 30 minutes to get hot water.

Review 16:The place could use some updating, but for $60 I thought it was a good value.

Review 17:AC was not on in room, took quite a while to finally start to cool off. Pillows were very flat! Noisy parking lot in back of hotel from people leaving the club in back!! Clerk said we could see street traffic from room all we saw was roof tops and backs of buildings along with brush and electric poles and wires!!!

Review 18:Asked for another blanket he looked in the back, nothing there, he was visiting with the security guard, and basically told me too bad, he was not supposed to leave front desk. I understand, however, what kind of a guy doesn't get a blanket for a dying man. Too much to ask for I guess. Also, the swimming pool had a gross dirty oily black ring around it and two corners were very obvious that they were NOT being cleaned properly.

Review 19:The front desk folks were very kind and helpful. With the exception of one one man. My husband who has end stage cancer and in a wheel chair, needed another blanket. I went to front desk.

Review 20:Because of a family emergency, we had to leave suddenly a day early. Both booking.com and the hotel worked together so that we were not charged for the last night, even though we were not able to give proper notice. We really appreciate their gracious help.

Review 21:I could do without the strip club next door. Also, it seemed there was an attempt to update the hotel lobby, but they failed to complete the update to the hallways and the rooms. It was like being in two different hotels going from the lobby to the rooms.

Review 22:It was clean and the front desk staff were very kind and helpful.

Review 23:Room was old. Hallway floors were very dirty. Night staff was great. The staff the next day had some attitude issues with other customers while checking out. Wasn't too anything about breakfast and the cleaning people were banging on doors at 8 am.

Review 24:The location is close to evangel university.

Review 25:The pillows were very uncomfortable.they need better pillows.the bed was fine but didn't get good sleep because of the pillows

Review 26:The ease of getting to the hospital from the inn. The staffers were friendly.

Review 27:Bathroom very much too small. I am a heavier person and felt I didn't have enough room to maneuver in. Felt very closed in. It was difficult to maintain water temperature while other guests were active.

Review 28:I stayed there because it was close to the hospital I was having a procedure done at.

Review 29:Regiistration clerk overwhelmed and took phone clls making me wait 10-15minutes to check-in. Did not provide ada room as requested. Directionsto room made my elderly father walk 3 times farther than necessaryrather than entering from rear hall. Staff allowed guestst to talkloudly in halways and the cortyards were even more noisy.

Review 30:Beds were nice.

Review 31:In the room-Hair clippings on bathroom sink, dry urine spots on toiletseat, unrinsed (certainly not washed or disinfected) coffee pot. Noshampoo, soap or lotion. Old school, I know, but no paper or pen fornotes on local interests or attractions, no check out info. Breakfast-outdated peanut butter-dated 101114 (next hotel same brand dated 060515)Jelly was like dried up jello (no date)

Review 32:Fluffy,eggs, great biscuits and gravy, honey at breakfast. Very friendlyand smiling staff front desk and beyond!

Review 33:Everything was great

Review 34:Your staff helped us get medical help as soon as we arrived. The cleaning staff was very helpful and was always asking if there was any thing they could do or get for us.

Review 35:It was right next to a strip club. We were on the first floor and the lights from the parking lot shined around the curtains, so you couldn't make your room completely dark.

Review 36:It was close to just about everything.

Review 37:Lamplighters hotel was nasty and filthy. Upon arrival we asked for a smoke free room. We received the stinkiest smoke filled room. It took anger and threats to get another room. The second did not stink like smoke, but was still not up to par..

Review 38:Springfield

Review 39:With 100 degree weather outside, we expected our room to be cool. It was like a sauna and took hours to cool it down to a comfortable temperature. Bathroom was ill-arranged The sink and mirror were in a cubby hole and hard to access.

Review 40:the price breakfast was adequate

Review 41:Room needed updating. Specifically the side chair and desk chair both had rips in the fabric. Could not even pull the desk chair away from the desk. Also very little room in bathroom to set cosmetic bags, etc.

Review 42:Liked the location. Bathrooms were clean. Breakfast was good.

Review 43:It is a little bit difficult to get into and out of the parking lot due to high traffic volume and the way the intersection is set up, but not a deel breaker!

Review 44:Bed was comfortable, room was clean,

Review 45:It was DIRTY! There were cobwebs in my window, texture on the ceiling was falling off in a friends room, trim was either gone or falling off, things were dusty and unkept

Review 46:Staff was nice, lobby was cute, breakfast was good

Review 47:No complaints!

Review 48:Location is in decent area and while there is a gentlemans club nearby there is also one near every church on the highway in the Midwest so who cares? We wouldn't have known at all if we hadn't looked for it based on reviews. Ziggies Cafe has good food 24/7 and room service. Free HOT breakfast!! At 8:15am I went In and there was still tons of eggs, sausage and gravy available (Sunday morning) and after driving back and forth cross country and 6 hotels this was the first hot breakfast offered at any of them. The pool was full when we arrived but draining and taped off within a half hour - my husband used to be a pool tech and said there's one reason for that : someone's little angel pooped in the pool. Some people might complain about this but my husband was impressed as that IS proper procedure for such an event. He said they could have skated around it and just shocked the pool and closed it for 24 hours but they followed protocol even though it cost them thousands in water. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a flat screen tv and nicely decorated. The hallway did have a funk much like an antique store but it is an old renovated building and our room smelled fine. For $70 I had stayed in a crack hotel in north Nashville the previous night with a table against the door so for the same price at Lamplighter we were delighted it felt like the Ritz.

Review 49:Toilet overflowed first night. Had trouble getting towels all during our stay. Elevator wasn't appealing, dirty and in need of facelift.

Review 50:Location was central to our activities. Complimentary breakfast was good.

Review 51:Located next door to a gentlemen's club, hotel was is poor repair, pool was very small and dirty, air conditioner in room didn't work properly.

Review 52:Staff was friendly and room was clean.

Review 53:Some remodeling in the lobby, the room needed minor repairs, and the hotel is located right next to the strip club.

Review 54:Comfortable beds, housekeeping did an excellent job, and the attached restaurant has the best breakfast in Springfield.

Review 55:The tired and worn condition of the rooms and hallways. The need for attention and paint of the hallways.

Review 56:We liked the location and cleanliness of the property.

Review 57:breakfast ,and the restaurant connected to the motel was very handy

Review 58:Rude staff, dirty hotel, rancid breakfast, leaky and drafty windows, gross pillows, cold shower, moldy walls, debit card scammers

Review 59:The close distance to Mercy Hospital and having such a good place to eat.

Review 60:The pool was outside only. The elevator quit during our stay

Review 61:The air not working all the time

Review 62:We love the staff and the rooms are always nice and clean and the beds are always comfy.

Review 63:Hairdryer did not work

Review 64:Comfortable

Review 65:No one in our group could use the wifi for more the a couple minutes at a time before the connection would drop.

Review 66:people running in the halls during the night.

Review 67:There was plenty of places to eat and i really like the idea of a 24 hour restaurant in the hotel.

Review 68:Room really needs a little updating. Decorated more modern would help.

Review 69:The convince of the location

Review 70:rooms were on the shabby side and bed was not very firm

Review 71:Convenient location, nice lobby

Review 72:Strip club right next to hotel.

Review 73:Price & short distance from the people I was visting.

Review 74:elevator and hallway not clean

Review 75:convenient to hospital

Review 76:The second floor hallway carpet had a pronounced stale cigarette smell to it.

Review 77:Good location and good value.

Review 78:All good. Would stay there again.

Review 79:Location, price for last minute booking.

Review 80:Love the location! Also, the restaurant is open 24 hours.

Review 81:Wi-Fi could've been better

Review 82:Everything

Review 83:Dated

Review 84:Clean, nice room.

Review 85:The smoking room was disgusting!!!!

Review 86:Strip club located directly behind property.

Review 87:Hallway had a musty smell.

Review 88:Bed was very comfortable. Slept well.

Review 89:traffic was horrible in the area. had an accident trying to leave the property for supper

Review 90:breakfast was really good

Review 95:sometimes breakfast was insuficient

Review 96:almost all.

Review 97:Nothing

Review 98:Bed was comfortable

Review 99:everthing

Review 100:Older facility

Review 101:Location

Review 102:House cleaning didn't come in. There was an issue with one of the beds.

Review 103:Location was convenient. Staff was very helpful.

Review 104:The walk path to the room is really cramped. That's about it. Maybe 6 feet wide or less, but that's just me.

Review 105:Everything. The breakfast was great. The guys at the desk are awesome. The environment in the the main building was modernize and clean and wide. Lots of walking space.

Review 106:Liked everything. Perfect for what I needed.

Review 107:I was able to check in early to leave my bags while out for the day and they let me leave my bags after check out to pick up later. They retrieved my phone plug and put it with my bags promptly when notified that I left it. Loved the in room microwave and fridge.

Review 108:The property is dated and our non-smoking room smelled very smoky.

Review 109:The staff was very friendly and quick to offer assistance. The room was clean and comfortable.

Review 110:the ac kept kicking off and wouldn't kick back on unless I turned off waited 20 minutes then turned back on and would run for about 15 minutes and go back off. toilet was loose

Review 111:,location , room was clean, tv ok , fridge in room convenient, quick check in and check out , breakfast was decent

Review 112:The room was kept neat during our stay. Cleaning was superficial. Window coverings, linens and carpet were worn and mismatched. Desk help lacked professionalism.

Review 113:I thought I had booked a smoking room and because I used Bookit to do this, they would not change me to a smoking room. I think they should spend more money on the room appearance and less on the lobby.

Review 114:The overall hotel was clean and the staff was relatively helpful.

Review 115:The door from the parking lot into the hotel around back did not close, so anyone could have walked in at any time. This area of the parking lot backs up to what looks like a strip club/bar, so any number of unsavory characters are out there late at night. The first morning we went to breakfast and got there about 8. There were no eggs, gravy, or bagels left. While we were in the dining area, none of this was replenished. I understand that a little later in the morning, but as early as 8 things should have been filled back up. Biggest complaint...we came back to the room Saturday night, late, and when we arrived at our room our door was ajar. Apparently the maid had left it open after cleaning. Luckily nothing had been stolen. We immediately called the front desk and informed the clerk. Initially we were very disappointed at the way the clerk responded. All she said was "Sorry, I will tell the manager in the morning". Not sure what transpired, but about 5 minutes later someone knocked on our door and it was the night manager and I am assuming the front desk clerk. She apologized and said they took this very seriously and knew who left the door open and were taking steps to rectify the situation. We did appreciate this, although they didn't do anything for us personally other than reassure us they were looking into the issue. Our room was at the end of the hall, so we got lucky. I believe if we had been in a more well traveled area, we would have had someone go into the room and have had some things stolen.

Review 116:I liked the option they had to get a room with one large bed and bunk beds, that allowed for 3 adults to each have their own bed without having a rollaway bed. I liked the breakfast, they had a good variety. It wasn't a fancy hotel but it was perfect for staying in during the evening and sleeping. We were in for the Horsefest, so didn't spend much time in the room, so it suited us fine. The first night there were obnoxious women out in the pool area making a lot of noise. Our room backed up to the pool area, and we were quite disturbed by the ruckus so we called the front desk and they immediately went out and made the women quiet down. I was impressed with the quickness of response to our complaint.

Review 117:The shelf was barely hanging on. The towel rack appeared to be supported by a roll of TP. The channel guide on TV listed channels not available. The whole hotel needs a remodel it is old and not very well maintained. It was clean.

Review 118:The location to where we were going was good for us.

Review 119:Strong smell of cigarette smoke even though our room was minimizing.

Review 120:We arrived early and were allowed to check in. It was nice to freshen up before we went to our party.

Review 121:The heater in our room did not shut off woke up hot turned on the air conditioner it worked but made a terrible noise when running. We did not sleep well. The hotel had a strange smell in hallway but not in room.

Review 122:Breakfast was great.

Review 123:The clerk that checked us out in Friday the 14th was rude and left a lot to be desired. She acted like she did not want to be there that day.

Review 124:The house keepers were very friendly.

Review 125:the pool was still running but was dirty - it is winter time so i expected it to be covered

Review 126:the rooms were clean and spacious - staff very friendly and helpful - lots of hot water

Review 127:Since they are renovating rooms things are getting nicer. Not the best place to stay - but for a cheap get away from the house it's just fine.

Review 128:We like the closeness to mid Springfield, easy access and smoking rooms. They are renovating so the part I don't like is getting better

Review 129:I did not see on the website that there was a hot tub outside, just a pool. I would have brought my swim suit and thought it was an even greater value!

Review 130:I just like the hometown feel. Also the cozy cafe right in the building during this COLD weather!

Review 131:Our coffee pot didn't work in the room.

Review 132:close to destination and not too expensive My friends and I stay there at least once a year when we go shopping.

Review 133:Left a wakeup call time and I was never called. Almost missed my meeting. Bathroom so small one person could hardly turn around. Floor in the lobby and dining area was dirty and sticky. Floor was dry so it had been that way for some time and the dirt went clear back to the elevator area.

Review 134:Bed was comfortable. Room was ok. Breakfast was hot.

Review 135:the only thing that bothered us was the traffic and the noise but we dealt with it alright.

Review 136:it was a very nice and friendly place. It was clean, quiet and was in a local spot close to all the shopping and places that we wanted to go and easy to find. The staff was very helpful and really cared about our stay. We really enjoyed it

Review 137:Our bathroom sink area was small. We had to be moved from our first room we were given due to a prior guest pulled out tv cable from the tv. The tv remote didn't turn off/on TV. Not many outlets that were easy to get to.

Review 138:Location was ideal, and kids loved the pool. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful.
