Reviews for Continental Lodge
Review 1:There was, what appeared to be an Indian woman who was at the frontdesk. I assume she was the owner because of her rudeness... She treatedme as if I was going to steal something from the motel. Insulted meseveral times each time I asked for an extra towel or anything... Sheassumed I was allowing people to shower in my room. Why, I do not knowbut she was the most rude individual I have ever dealt with at a motel.I will never recommend or stay here again!
Review 2:The hotel was clean and comfortable but I take many issues with how Iwas treated as a customer. Such poor customer service, I decided to moveand spend my last few days at another motel.
Review 3:Neighborhood looks rough but we did feel safe during our stay. Don't be deterred by the looks of the neighborhood.
Review 4:Staff was very kind and helpful with directions, restaurants etc...There was a guest ahead of me being rude with staff actually because they didn't like the rules. Staff offered full refund and they still kept arguing and threatened with a bad review so I felt compelled to write about my experience. The staff wasn't ever rude with me so don't go by what other guests complain about. Also the rooms are VERY clean!
Review 5:No clocks. In entering the room for the first time, it was hard to find the light switch and hard to find the bathroom in the dark, particularly when the need was urgent.
Review 6:The staff. The short way to put it is: They appeared and acted like they didn't want to be there any more than the guests do. And accepts credit cards only...??!?!?? I guess so cash customers can't wreck the place and then not be held accountable. But they should accept debit cards.
Review 7:I like the setup of the room inside. The layout.
Review 8:Just a $10 crab ride to downtown. Stayed for one day. Got upgraded to a remodeled room for free! Our room was great, clean, tidy, nicely decorated, fridge, microwave, desk. Only thing that was a bit unsettling was the dead bolt lock was very loose. Not the greatest part of town but relatively easy to get to. Free parking and place to eat just walking distance. Ate at Jaliscos taqueria just around the corner and dosent seem like much from the outside but the food was tasty.
Review 9:The exterior and location seemed concerning athe first but from checking in to checking out it far exceeded our expectations
Review 10:This hotel was way better than,we expected especially judging by the exterior but don't let that deter you. The room was clean comfortable and ideal for us. Close to the arena too!
Review 11:The service was horrible, since o step in to pay i felt discrimanated by the from office person, i didnt knew i couldnt havr visitors they didnt say nothing to about it,i travel 4 hours to stay in this motel pay alot so i can feel uncomfortable plus i ask for towels never broung them it was a horrible experience at this place, stay 2 night never again will i stay here
Review 12:The cleaness
Review 13:Bed bugs, bed bugs, bed bugs!!!! In room 121 bouble bed only one had bugs.... Asked for compensation only way they would give my anything was if I left the room at 1:30 in the morning and they supposedly didn't have any other double rooms available.. They were rude and didn't not provide for us the customers what so ever! I would give them a very negative rating!
Review 14:Nothing at all poor customer service!!!!
Review 15:Nice, clean room, and comfy bed. I wasn't bothered by any noises or anything at all. The location outside isn't the best location but it didn't affect my stay. It was a pleasant stay.
Review 16:No coffees in rooms and none available at site in the morning. Didn't bring full sets of towels, no light on desk Left 1 day early even though I prepaid Terrible location
Review 17:Comfortable bed, large room
Review 18:There was a little confusion about my early check-in but the staff followed through and honored my request. The amenities were good. My stay was comfortable.
Review 19:The staffs were horrible. The staffs, particularly an Indian (I guess) who always stayed at the reception was terribly bad, he didn't know how to respect customers, and never was friendly and kind. He looks like a thug running an illegal business, never helped genuinely. I will never reserve this place again. Not only this thug-looking staff member opened a wrong room for me first, also condemns me much there. I never understand how he would give me a key of an already occupied room. Luckily the guy in the room was a drunken one, otherwise it would have horrible story. Coming from Japan where customers are respected as good as it could be anywhere in the world, this was a socking experience for me. Although booking.com listed this as "breakfast included", they didn't provide breakfast. Anyway, I don't know who lied here, booking.com or the hotel.
Review 20:The size of the room was quite large. It was also clean. The facilities were okay although not everything booking.com listed were available (e.g., DVD/CD players, Alarm clock, etc.).
Review 21:Woke me up 1st morning of my 3day stay, yelling at me that it was checkout time. Had to argue with two men that I had my receipt proving otherwise. Forced me to allow them to clean the room everyday between 1030am-12pm. Woke me up every morning. When I objected, they threatened to throw me out. Staff tried to open the door, while I was nude, but it only opened part way because of security latch. When they changed my sheets, they seemed to put dirtier ones on. Notifying my bank and canceling my Credit card because I don't feel comfortable them having my info.
Review 22:It was disconcerting to have to buzz to get into the office and to conduct our business behind a glass partition. It made us wonder what kind of neighborhood we were in. However, nothing disturbed us when we stayed there.
Review 23:The staff was very helpful. He gave us printed directions for places to eat and how to get to the airport.
Review 24:First impression is sketchy. Windows are bared and you have to be buzzed in to go into the office. People were rude right off the start. They wanted a credit card to refund my debit card I used to pay so they can charge a credit card. Wasn't there more than 10 min we used the bathroom it over flowed I went to the office for help they yelled at me about some valve I shut off I told them idk what they're talking about acted like I was stupid. They wanted to chew me 100$ For damages plus I wasn't allowed to stay there I refused to pay I'm still waiting for my refund. So my sister and I he to find another place last minute with our two babies.
Review 25:They furnishings are old, old, old--they were clean but really need to be replaced. The parking spaces were too small even for compact cars. The neighborhood was in an old working-class industrial area, but it's no big deal if you're looking for a cheap place near downtown.
Review 26:The staff was relaxed and friendly. The rooms were clean, decently supplied and had a mini fridge. Excellent TVs and channel selection Despite the neighborhood it was quiet overnight. Motel has good proximity to downtown.
Review 27:We were not provided with towels on the second day of our stay and when we requested for them we were given a suspicious look
Review 28:Clean room with micro and fridge
Review 29:I was a little leary when I arrived.... Surrounding area looked scary but the room was VERY CLEAN and was well lit at night. One thing though the shower needs better flow
Review 30:Close to busy street & hood was iffy.
Review 31:My room was renovated & had all the amenities including microwave, frig & coffeemaker . Location a little iffy but the price was great for the comfort of the room.
Review 32:Cleaning lady was cleaning room when we were coming in for a nap. Lookedlike there was no option to say we did not want our room cleaned.
Review 33:It was mostly quiet and comfortable.
Review 34:It's long walk from BART back to the motel, especially at night after day of walking at SF and couple of pints at Little Italy. And the neighbourhood... hard to judge from 3 night stay what it really is like, but first impression isn't very good and I wouldn't let my gf go outside alone after dark. BTW it's not possible to park by the BART station for a weekday (limited to 2 hrs or so). There are spots, but you would have to be really lucky. There is a public garage, but couple blocks away.
Review 35:It really is clean. Kind of what you'd expect at Europe for the same money.
Review 36:Very convenient location quite staff was awesome. Room was very clean. I have absolutely no complains my stay was very god and I would recommend this place to everyone of my colleagues. Had everything in the room refrigerator coffee maker had water. Also had an iron and ironing board and a blow dryer. I can keep going...
Review 37:We didn't feel safe in the area. My husband got up a couple of times during the night just to check to see if our car is still in the parking lot.
Review 38:Noisy. Hear noise from the street, and also when people flush toilet or use shower upstairs, you hear the water come down the pipe. You should use earplugs if you stay here.
Review 39:Convenient location near highway. Helpful staff.
Review 40:First off there was no Wi-Fi second there was no coffee in the morning the bathroom was very noisy the pipes just scream when you turn the water on overall I will not go back there
Review 41:It was close to my destination of business
Review 42:The front desk person was very rude. Told me there was a $100 deposit for the room, which never was told that when reserving room. And that if I didn't pay with a credit card that then my debit card would be charged for the deposit and when I check out they must inspect the room before I get a refund. And if I got the refund it would take a week for it to come on my debit card?? What? Crazy! So I noticed that others were checking out before me and they did not have anyone come and inspect their rooms! So I ended up paying all of it in cash. Worried the whole night that I wouldn't get my money back. He seemed like he made that rule up when he seen me. Then the other person there come out to see who I was with when I finally got the key. If looks can kill. I swear. It mad me so mad and uncomfortable. Never go there. Weirdos!
Review 43:I liked the TV mounted on the wall and King size bed.
Review 44:Location isn't the best-it's pretty far from the BART.
Review 45:The room was clean and didn't smell. There was a micro and a fridge which helped us a lot and a coffee maker. Overall, it was perfect for us. And close to laundromats!
Review 46:.Being guided thru side streets with piles of garbage and containers, getting to the hotel was somewhat scary. As a single woman traveler, I did not enjoy seeing a drunk woman walking barefoot with a half empty bottle of red wine crossing the street right as I was pulling into the hotel parking lot. Air condition in the room was super loud and no way did I leave my window open, especially since it was next to the entry door where anybody passes to get to their own room.
Review 47:Surprisingly the room was super clean with a fridge, bottled water, white sheets and towels. Receptionist was friendly, however, it was alarming that she had to buzz me in and was behind bulletproof glass.
Review 48:Bad front desk "Indian people " don't know much of it bas experience charge me again when it was already reserved on line very disappointed
Review 49:-The location wasn't the best. About 2 streets up from the freeway, business and homes/walls had lots of tagging and everything was alittle run down. -The hotel didn't serve breakfast. -The rooms werea little out dated.
Review 50:-Close enough to San Fran, about 20-30 minute drive with traffic (ifdriving you have to pay a toll of $6 to go over the bridge into San Franfrom Oakland). -The room was super clean an had everything we needed(king size bed, T.V., free wifi, microwave, and mini fridge). -Staff andhousekeeping were friendly and helpful. -Quiet other than the occasionalfire truck that would go by. -Free parking
Review 51:We found Oakland a bit scary and wouldn't recommend venturing out after dark.. it seemed okay during the day but a lot of street noise at night. That was all part of the experience though.
Review 52:Amazing bed! The room was far nicer than we expected, a great surprise. The location is great for those who can't afford to stay in San Francisco its about a 15min walk to the metro station then a quick ride to the city center.
Review 53:I didn't see anything happen, but I got the impression that the surrounding area was slightly shady. The walk to the train station was a bit long if you are going to SF downtown. You can take a bus to the train but not on the same ticket as the train.
Review 54:Nice and clean place. We were happy to find a cheap place with included parking close to San Francisco.
Review 55:The room we reserved is gone.Got moved to another motel, which is 5min away from there. At first we were given a smoking room ,while my wife is pregnant so I asked if they have a non-smoking room, and the man first said we had to pay more but then adjusted for us ,for free.Really ,surprisingly.
Review 56:Got adjusted to a big non-smoking room
Review 57:I felt uncomfortable driving in the first night because I was alone and a senior but everything was safe. I will return.
Review 58:The cleanliness of the room, the quiteness--worked long hours and needed sleep, and nearest to the work site.
Review 59:Manager prank calls our room at 1 in the morning and tells us to get our if we have a problem! Stains covering the bed! I paid for a smoke free room and ended up getting an ashtray for the night !! Worst service ever! Never going back!!
Review 60:Nothing good about it!
Review 61:Don't trust the bus timetable after midnight.
Review 62:It was a good place to stay for a couple of days. Comfortable room, they clean it everyday and a pretty good, hardworking service. They help you with every little question and try to make you the most comfortable stay. Also you have free mint water and coffee 24 hrs. In the room free coffee as well and free snacks. You got a fridge, a microwave and a coffee machine,TV,big bathroom, free WIFI and a great bed. To drive with a car is pretty hard in San Francisco so we used the tram and the bus. The bus to BART station was 2,10 $ for each one way and the tram into the city 7,75 $ per each for a round trip. 15 minutes into the city. 30 minutes to SF Airport. Oakland isn't the nices area but we walked through the city by night and we felt really safe. I would choose the Continental Lodge again. San Francisco is a really interesting city and you will have a pretty good stay at this motel.
Review 63:Staff is really helpfull. They do provide information to visitors to help them getting around the city. The Location is also good. The nearest station is a train station just 1.5m from Hotel. You can park in the station parking area for just $3 a day or free on weekends There is a shopping mall around , very close. I would definately stay there again
Review 64:Area is in a bad area of town, but their parking lot is very well lit at night. I had no issues with my car during my stay!
Review 65:The staff was great! When I was checking in, there was another guest in the lobby that needed to print some paperwork. The owner allowed him to come behind the front desk to use his computer and print his paper. I thought that was really great costumer service! Front desk was very friendly. I needed an iron and ironing board, they brought it to my room for me!!
Review 66:the room was not cleaned well, the furniture was old, the faucet produced a terrible noise, there were couple of cockroaches in the room, the bed sheets had little holes.
Review 67:the stuff was friednly, the location was fair for the city.
Review 68:The bathtub area needs to be updated to match the room.
Review 69:Spacious room with sofa and all the amenities. The bed was really comfortable. I plan to stay here again.
Review 70:The area is not the safest but I did walk around during the daylight. I am a single lady and despite all the houses having bars on all the windows and doors and guard dogs, I felt comfortable. I spoke with locals at the church and they told me there is crime. I would not go out after dark.
Review 71:Updated room, clean, fridge, microwave
Review 72:When I arrived was told reservation was cancelled because they ran my credit card was declined I told them I have cash after being told I couldn't stay there they took my cash .
Review 73:Bed was comfortable.
Review 74:House keeping was lacking...they came and grabbed our dirty towels but did not replenish with fresh ones even though I requested extra . That was disappointing. Nor did they freshen the bed and make it up. Area was not the greatest but not the worst either.
Review 75:The room was freshly painted and in good condition. Not bad at all for the money. Did have a mini fridge so that was a plus.It was quiet which was also nice. Staff was decent overall.
Review 76:The room was very clean. Bathroom a little dated, but it was clean. Beds were very comfortable. Remodeling going on currently and should make a good difference.
Review 77:It was a little noisy and location isn't fantastic.
Review 78:I wanted to make this a cheap trip and i was worried because the price differences to other hotels, but for the money this was excellent! Clean room, bed was fantastic, nice staff. It's no 5 star hotel but great for the money. Will stay again when I return.
Review 79:It smells bec our room was so close to the trash can and flies keep coming inside our room.
Review 80:It's Cheaper compare to other motels and close to where my cousin stays.
Review 81:No bad experience to report.
Review 82:The manager was very helpful and helped us carry all of our luggage up to our room. The room was very nice and furnished well. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was willing to go the extra mile for us.
Review 83:No kleenex in room one lamp wasn't working and toiet sit broken. Biggest issue with me is and this isn't the first time is at 11am whether you want maid service or not the maid always comes in.
Review 84:Location
Review 85:Nearly no facilities. Oakland is not a city where's much to do but it's close to San Francisco which make it a good city to sleep for a reasonable price instead of the insane prices that are asked in SF.
Review 86:good bed.
Review 87:The neighborhood looks iffy. At 7pm I had to press a bell to be let into the office and the clerk stayed behind glass I as passed my license and such. He was friendly and upgraded me for free. There were no issues that I encountered as I stayed in my room until I left in the morning.
Review 88:I especially appreciate having a frig and microwave along with a decent room. Everything was clean and acceptable. I was doing a seminar near the airport and this was the best deal in a reasonable travel range. I have re booked.
Review 89:The staff tried to deny my reservation saying that it was made with a different credit card which I complete cap since I booked my room through Google wallet. So I had to call and have customer service explain that it doesn't matter if the numbers match or not as long as the payment goes thru there should be no problem. After checking in, the police come to my door claiming they got a call for lots of activity. I wasn't there and had left my gf in the room while I ran some errands. I would recommend removing them from properties that yu list. Horrible experience.
Review 90:Nothin at all
Review 91:Location was really sketchy. Didn't have any troubles, but there is nothing nearby you want to go to.
Review 92:WIFI worked, place was clean, staff was good. Had everything you could reasonably expect in a budget motel.
Review 93:I really didn't have anything, but just a heads up for those that are light sleepers...the hotel is next to a street and you do hear the traffic. That wasn't an issue for me, but it might be for others.
Review 94:I was very pleased with the hotel..I was looking for something inexpensive since I was only going to be there for one night. The hotel really impressed me for the price. It was clean, did not have that weird smell hotels usually have when you walk in. The room had two water bottles, a pack of cookies and coffee, just like the pic they show on their advertisement. The staff was nice, I really didn't have much interaction with them, but I did request a later checkout and they gave me an extra hour which worked out perfect. Overall a great stay!
Review 95:I asked for a smoke free room and it was not reserved for us. The room smelled like cleaning solution and once it wore off you could smell the cigarette smoke (not cool).
Review 96:The bed was nice and comfortable.
Review 97:All really good.
Review 98:Clean! One of the few motels in 5 week trip that had clean floor. Super clean room and quality bedding, fixtures, tv, fridge, micro. Several hbo channels, coffee maker, free bottled water and cookies. Really helpful guy on checkin & we could check in early. Very easy to find with nearby restaurants and fast food. Very convenient for freeway to all around sfo, but far enough so no highway noise. Area ok. Felt safe. A really good find and not expensive like central sfo hotels. Great stay.
Review 99:The room was slightly outdated also had an odor. I had to buy candles to eliminate the smell. Location was so so.
Review 100:King bed and several channel options. There was a refrigerator and microwave. Not too far from highways and lakeside.
Review 101:I was traveling as a group and we stop at the motel I had booked. I went and checked in and went to get ready for an evening out with friends. When we walked into the room the lights were turned off when I called the front office they informed me that someone was watching how many people walked into the motel and we had to get out immediately. I went down to tell them they were leaving we were just getting ready but the owner decided he didn't want my busines. So I had to leave at 10pm without a place to stay
Review 102:Nothing
Review 103:The staff was unhelpful when asking for recommendations on where to eat or how to find public transportation. Also, we called ahead of time and asked how far we were from where we needed to be and te man said, 15-20min.... But it was more like 45 min which makes a HUGE difference when taking a taxi around. The hotel was also in a very bad part of town and nothing but Burger King in walking distance.
Review 104:The Rooms were clean on the inside.
Review 105:TV Cable constantly went out of service. But who needs TV, anyway?!
Review 106:Nice and affordable. Accommodating staff. Loads cheaper than staying in SF and can take public transportation anywhere fairly easily as the hotel is right next to a bus stop. Also within an 8 minute walk of Harborside medical cannabis clinic. Deli restaurant close-by. Paid ~$65 each day Friday-Sunday in first week of September.
Review 107:I liked that they had a micro fridge, free Wi Fi, decent cable and a nice bathroom. Everything you would expect in a king suite and for a good price and convenient location.
Review 108:Room is a bit small and pricy for the location in the suburbs. This isnot a bad ghetto, just a common USA-neighborhood. Wifi can looseit's strenght at times.
Review 109:Nice new room, high and good bed, good tv with lots of channels, wifi isfree and most of the time available in the rooms. Free parking is nice, but to far from the BART-station (train to San Fran for 6,60 dollar perperson) to walk: when visiting by bart park free in the streetssurrounding Lake Merrit station.
Review 110:First my husband, and then myself, told the staff at the from desk that we did not want our room cleaned. I asked for a "do not disturb sign", but they didn't have them. We left the tv on and one light, because my husband had to leave his computer in the room. For safety reasons, we felt it was important to do this. Someone did enter the room, took our towels without replacing them and turned the light and tv off. Unacceptable!!
Review 111:The hotel is relatively nice for being in an area in Oakland that's borderline safe. The price was good for the accommodations.
Review 112:The room advertised as comes with coffee maker, and coffee, blow dryer, and iron. My room had non I had to request them and then was asked for a deposit.
Review 113:The bed was very comfortable
Review 114:This is a reasonably nice hotel located in a somewhat seedy neighborhood. The room was clean and comfortable and relatively quiet. The air-conditioning was cold and the shower hot. Even the little fridge worked efficiently.
Review 115:The room has two big comfortable beds, hangers, TV, microwave, fridge, free two bottles of water, cookies...everything I need. The office is really helpful. There was one guy there heard that me and friends did not have a car and have to take the bus to bart, and he gave us a ride!
Review 116:A little sketchy at night outside the hotel property. Thankfully there were no questionable types renting rooms, I think they screen pretty well.
Review 117:Room was comfy and had COLD air!
Review 118:the girl at the counter had a very very unhealthy attitude when my daughter in law came to visit for a few minutes.when she went to see about getting a room they were filled. But they followed her out of the office up to my room, gave me a call to tell me that visitors are not allowed. nowhere was this stated when I rented the room, also face sink does not drain.the first stay there was pleasant but the second one we felt very very very disrespectedby the staff who was there at the time
Review 119:for the money the room was not bad
Review 120:Location Room not insonorized / a lot of noise from outside is heard in the room, which makes it harder to sleep.
Review 121:Cleanliness and ratio quality/price.
Review 122:beaten up neighbor, but we drove around through out all the neighbor. That was kind of the nature of that place....old and ...
Review 123:7 miles to OKL airport. Close to BART 1 mile walking distance
Review 124:Wifi connection is not good.
Review 125:The room is clean
Review 126:The location is a rough spot. But what can you do?
Review 127:Liked the quiet, clean rooms and nice decorations.
Review 128:I did not like that when I flipped the cover I saw strings of hair.
Review 129:The bed was very comfy, the tv microwave and fridge was a nice touch.
Review 130:They were very polite.
Review 131:The location is bad. Housekeeping didn't change the sheet while we were there
Review 132:The bed was comfortable. The room was spacious. It was pretty mellow
