Reviews for Dolphin Key Resort - Cape Coral

Review 1:Room was very "bare bones" with just the essentials and a minimum of decoration. TV got only a few channels and lobby was as undecorated as the room. Would not recommend except maybe to travelers with young children on a budget who will spend all their time at the pool. Smoking allowed in tiki bar -- gross

Review 2:It had a very nice pool and the tiki bar staff was friendly.

Review 3:The Tiki Hut and associated live bands. Unless you are clinically deaf, the music will prevent any rest. We like the motel but we would NEVER stay there again.

Review 4:Clean and friendly. Good location to access the area.

Review 5:The room had not been cleaned properly. Bathtub very dirty and sand on the floor that sticks to your feet. Bed not made properly. The room had not been properly cleaned even following the day after we complained. Very loud music in the bar on the Sat night up to 11 PM. Breakfast was the worst, it's not really a proper continental breakfast, just some white toast past its due date and children's cereals.

Review 6:Pool was nice. Plenty of parking space.

Review 7:Can't sleep before 11:00 pm the music was too loud in the tiki bar

Review 8:Parking was very close to our door. Front desk was very helpful when we checked in

Review 9:Staff is great and friendly. Nicely remodeled rooms. Bathroom had an awesome rainforest shower head. Shops and restaurants nearby. 5 min to the Yacht club beach and public pool. Hotels pool was heated and adjacent to a tiki bar. Weather was perfect. What more can you ask for?

Review 10:Music from tiki bar a little to loud. Exhaust fan and bathroom light should be on separate switch.

Review 11:Good central location.Easy access to fort Myers and surrounding area .Pool great entertainment onsite

Review 12:Well... it is beginning to appear that whenever we book a room through Booking.com, we are assigned rooms that other guests would surely find inconvenient. Despite the fact that the "resort" (a glorified motel) was exceedingly empty, we were assigned a ground floor room in very close proximity to a tiki bar, and the bar noise was terribly annoying until way late at night.

Review 13:It was a clean comfortable room; the bed was very comfortable; and the room was spacious and tidy.

Review 14:Live band was a bit too loud.

Review 15:A hot water hose burst in our room spewing a lot of water and no way for us to stop it. The staff came very quickly, stopped the leak and moved us to another room. They were most polite and apologized profusely for the circumstance.

Review 16:None so far

Review 17:I must say all the girls that work in the tiki hut are just wonderful , as busy as they get they still have a smile and you do not wait for anything.

Review 18:tiki bar was neat, went there twice during our stay, left both times due to not being waited on. they were really busy but still I would have liked to try the food, hopefully next time.

Review 19:great place to stay.

Review 20:The room included a refrigerator but there was not a microwave. It would have been nice to have one especially if food was brought back to the room there was no way to reheat anything.

Review 21:The location is perfect for beach goers. There were ample restaurants to choose from with a variety of foods. The complimentary breakfast was a nice freebie. The free live bands on weekends at the tiki hut bar was nice to hang out and grab a drink and bite to eat. The menu prices were reasonable with a little of everything from seafood, chicken, salads and appetizers.

Review 22:They have a tiki bar.... so you are bombarded by loud music and drunks until early in the morning.... making it almost impossible to sleep

Review 23:The accommodations were quite nice

Review 24:Only knock I'd have on the place is the bar is a Smoking bar since its open on all sides. I guess this can be a Pro or Con depending on if you smoke but for me it's a Con. Based on that I would likely not go back, everything else about the place was fine.

Review 25:Rooms were clean, food was standard bar fare but done well and prices were reasonable. Nice Tiki bar next to pool, they had 2 bands play from 1PM to 11ish both were decent. Fun Time and price was good.

Review 26:Staff was very polite and friendly. Rooms are exceptionally clean and updated. Hotel is centrally located in walking distance to many restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping downtown. Price was really reasonable.

Review 27:I will be requesting compensation for part of my first morning as I had a vary busy schedule wedding festivities there had been a drainage clog in the whole row of rooms I stayed at (toilets would not flush) so there was a lot of staff activity in and out of my room which disrupted my whole morning some of the afternoon though the maintenance people were on top of there game and took care of the situation(thankyou) it was still a major disruption so in fairness I deserve compensation for my payment for that day. spoke with the owner, she agreed but informed me I need to contact booking.com we will see what happens ?

Review 28:pool tiki bar friendly staff location

Review 29:There are only 3 improvements that I saw could be made. #1. As I said the hotel has been completely remodeled so this could just be a 1 thing at a time deal, but the furniture hadn't been replaced yet (and by furniture I mean the dresser and night stand only) everything else was fine, I couldn't put my clothes in the drawers because they smelled musty so I just kept what I would have put in the drawer in my suit case which wasn't much. There was a place to hang clothes and hangers and there was so much room on the counter by the bathroom with 2 sinks that it was barely an issue. #2. Loved the tile floors, I hate walking barefoot in hotels with carpet, but my feet were dirty all the time and the only place I liked to sit is on the king size bed in my room, I got tired of washing my feet every time I got up so I put 2 wet face cloths on the floor and the towel from the tub that goes on the floor beside my bed, so when I got up I scooted around on the face cloths and before I got back in the bed I wiped my feet on the floor towel. #3. The Tiki Hut is a great bar, they served us virgin strawberry daiquiris by the pool and had great bands there but it's a bar mostly so the food, to me, was like bar food. My daughter had a salad with chicken on it that looked great at lunch time, but I was told they were a full restaurant and there was a breakfast buffet. I was really looking forward to waking up and having breakfast by the pool, but when I saw the poor excuse for a "continental breakfast" I was so disappointed I just got a mini muffin and one of those tiny boxes of fruit loops and went back to my room. This was a FAR cry from a breakfast buffet, it was a table a little bigger than a card table, it had milk and OJ maybe coffee, i don't drink it so I didn't even notice if they had it. I'm sure they did. They had a standard glass front tiny fridge with butter, yogurt and I don't know what else, I told you I was really...

Review 30:You can tell this hotel has had a major remodel and updated just about everything in the rooms, I loved the tile floors and stucco walls, and the flat screen TV, my daughter lives in Cape Coral so she brought over her DVD player and a movie from redbox and we sat by the pool, had dinner and watched a movie, I loved just being able to hang out with my daughter in a comfortable environment. great job! I Loved the landscaping around the beautiful Pool and that they supplied beach sized towels for me and my guests when we went to the pool. I Loved the live bands at the tiki hut (they promptly stopped at 11 for those of you who don't like music) The staff was the friendliest staff I have dealt with in a long while. I was so centrally located to everything I needed to do in Cape Coral that after 5 days my rental car only took $11.48 to put it back on a full tank on my way to the airport. You can walk to Perkins, and there is every kind of store or restaurant within 5 miles. I will definately be staying there again and recommending it to my friends and family.

Review 31:Tile floors were very slippery so we had to be careful not to fall. We did observe A roach but only one.

Review 32:We liked that it was near an airport. Glad it had been remodeled but history behind it was also interesting. Flowers were beautiful outside our door.

Review 33:The breakfast was very, very basic.

Review 34:The included parking, good Wi-Fi and our spacious room made our stay comfortable. We also enjoyed the convenience of having the tiki hut (which offered drinks and food) that was located so close to the resort. All in all, not a bad place to stay.

Review 35:Breakfast needs help. The toaster didn't work. No creativity, got boring after a couple mornings (stayed 6 days). Bring out some fresh fruit not just apples. Or some cheeses or whatever

Review 36:The overall facility. Tiki music shower (who hoo)

Review 37:didnt stay there..dont allowpets..the place was deserted and smelly when we walked in the lobby anyway..no caars in parking lot and a nasty attendant at the desk

Review 38:The staff at Dolphin Key Resort is the best, from the owner to the repair person the are friendly and always make you feel welcomed. We have stayed before and have 2 more trips this year planned.

Review 39:Check out time @ 10:00 am or they auto charge you for another day ~ not good policy! They only change bed sheets every third day unless you ask . I understand the green wise lifestyle, however they need to check to make sure they are not dirty, before making the bed! Food ok for bar food and if your drinking, and do not wish to leave the site. Good place for Cape Coral~~<<

Review 40:Beautiful landscape & pool . Fantastic bartender named Tina~

Review 41:The only thing we didn't like was the noise of the refrigerator.

Review 42:We like the location, it was a clean and nice place. We like the pool ad the Tiki Bar.

Review 43:No microwave

Review 44:The room was spacious clean updated. Right down to the little cards that you stick in the window about whether you want service or not. New shower fixtures. The right music and user friendly staff

Review 45:The service was excellent!! the pool area was nice and the bar was nice and had good breakfast. It's very conveniently located to town and surrounding areas. We would totally recommend!

Review 46:Both times I stayed the same complaint would be late night noise. People tend to hang out at table and chairs located near staiwell corridors. Usually drinking, loud talking. Goes till 2 or 3AM.

Review 47:Overall great place to stay. Have stayed here more than once. Great staff.

Review 48:My husband & I loved the accomadations & the tiki hut bar out back but imagine our surprise when we awoke to 2 inches of water all over the floor in our room! The staff quickly came to help & refunded the bill amount. hank goodness we hadn't put our luggage or bags on the floor (luck on our part). Guess this could happen to anyone, anyplace but the manager made the our stay enjoyable.

Review 49:staff was eager to come to our aid after we reported a leak in the bathroom

Review 50:The breakfast could use some more variety. Please consider adding fruit: bananas, apples and oranges. Also perhaps english muffins instead of soft white bread. Despite this, Dolphin Key is still a great place.

Review 51:The facilities are newly renovated, clean, great linens, comfy beds. Nice landscaping, great pool. The staff including front desk, housekeeping and manager are all friendly and willing to help in any way.

Review 52:The staff were very helpful met all your needs and request. Extremely pleasant and gave you vital information to help you out and make the most of your stay. Pointed out great places to visit also the Tiki restaurant being right there made you not even want to leave excellent live music on the weekends, could hardly hear it outside of the room.

Review 53:Shower drain clogged and had to ask twice but problem did get fixed. Some of the tiki hut staff very rude, no smoking policy not enforced at pool and breakfast, unruly drunk guests at pool were shouting obscenities and very obnoxious to the point that we had to leave.

Review 54:Tiled floors, nice pool, free WiFi, very clean, very nice front desk staff, excellent housekeeping

Review 55:We have stayed 4 times excellent place .great staff ,great location, manager Mike at restaurant, very accomodating.definitely stay again.my daughter lives in Cape coral we visit often and dolphin key resort will be where we will continue to stay.

Review 56:Breakfast was a little lacking in that choices were too few, no sugar or sweetening was out on the table.

Review 57:Comfort of room & bed, well kept pool and grounds, friendliness of staff.

Review 58:This is the only hotel/motel I have stayed in in 20 years that did not offer any of the ESPN stations. It also did not offer the Sunshine Network. Therefore I had yo go out in order to watch the NBA playoffs and the Rays game.

Review 59:I didnt think like that our room didnt have a dresser. And for some reason the shower head didnt work all the time. Small complaints for a great stay.

Review 60:I loved this hotel! We had a pool side room and didnt hear any noise from the bands that played - We went durning the Boxing fight and also didnt hear any noise. The room was clean always and the staff was great!

Review 61:The breakfast was not so good, obviously the cheapest stuff (ham, "fake" omelets, etc.)

Review 62:The room, the pool, the friendly staff. The location was also good for visiting the area. They had live music at the Tiki Bar some of it quite pleasant, but quiet in the rooms.

Review 63:It would be great to have some oatmeal and/or fruit at breakfast.

Review 64:Friendly staff-great pool area. Lovely new renovations. Sunny rooms. This was a perfect relaxing place to be.

Review 65:The bed was a little hard and their menu said served breakfast all day, but didn't.

Review 66:We loved the Tiki Bar, it was a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 67:The only thing that I missed was variety of food. Breakfast is served at the bar( american style and without fruits),for lunch and dinner you better look elsewhere but for snacks you're ok (try the fries and the joy of the place)

Review 68:The staff is always polite and ready to help you out.

Review 69:I liked the ceramic floor rather than carpeting in my room, especially being so close to the pool, but the floor was filthy! I immediately removed my sneakers at the door. I could feel the dirty floor under my feet. My (brand new) white sneaker socks were black after I walked to the bathroom. I found an old, faded bookmark on the floor next to the bed. Clearly housekeeping neglected to clean the floor. Bedding and bathroom area was fresh, but I only wished housekeeping would've swept (& wet mopped) the floor.

Review 70:Reasonably priced for the area. I loved the courtyard and pool just outside my room. The usual features: TV, fridge & coffee maker in the room. Tiki bar was an added treat.

Review 71:The staff was very friendly. The rooms were clean, comfortable and modern. It has a beautiful pool and an awesome tiki bar for great food and drinks at any time.

Review 72:The bathtub was clogged. After showering, the tub filled with about 5 inches of water because it wasn't draining properly. The free breakfast was very weak. Everything seemed to have been taken straight from freezer to the microwave. The Bagels and eggs were awful. The best things were yogurt and cereals because they were prepackaged. Coffee was horrible and weak. Luckily there was an instant coffee machine in the lobby that tasted a bit better. Another thing, the breakfast took place in the Tiki restaurant area and people smoking sat in the same area blowing their smoke near everyone including little kids. They list a Gym room but it took us a while to find it. The Gym had 2 machines that nobody seem to use - The room was dark and it had appearance of a storage room.

Review 73:The hotel is located in an area that is near to many restaurants and places to see in Cape Coral and Fort Myers. The room we were in was cozy and the bathroom had a great shower head.

Review 74:Weekend bands were too loud, would have enjoyed them if volume was lowered slightly.

Review 75:Cleanliness and comfort of rooms. Pool and garden area was very nice.

Review 76:After arriving in the hotel we went for a swim and enjoyed our first beer at the Tiki bar which is open to the front and to the swimming pool area. After paying prices of $9 for a beer, we couldn't believe that we were only charged around $1.20. Other than that the hotel fulfilled our requirements completety. Had a great night with delicious pizzas in "Nice Guys" in walking distance from the hotel

Review 77:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the location of the resort was central to all my travel destinations. The only negative I have on this experience is a lack of parking closer to my hotel room.

Review 78:A little noise travelled into the room at night by guests

Review 79:Good atmosphere nice and safe with friendly people. Plenty of food and drink outlets close by

Review 80:Long set of stairs to carry my suitcase - but a staff member did it for me so I can't complain. Some hot food in the breakfast would have been nice.

Review 81:Highlight was the staff went out of their way to serve!! From carrying my suitcase up the stairs to asking if I needed anything at breakfast, they looked to serve and assist people at the hotel. My room was spacious and clean! Liked the tile floor and air conditioning worked well and was easy to adjust. Pool area was very nice. No hassle checkout!

Review 82:The room was okay. Breakfast was minimal and very basic. Main problem we had as non-smokers was the amount of visitors and staff smoking in all areas and ignoring the non-smoking signs. No umbrellas available for use at the sun beds and none available for use!

Review 83:Bed was comfortable and shower was very good!

Review 84:The front desk staff didnt seem like they valued our stay she was not at all helpful or accomidating as if our questions. The only tthing she cared about was collecting our payment poor customer service. One of the maintaince men approached my sister and I at our room door took his random key and opened our door he said the perk of working there he has a key to all the rooms. I didnt feel safe after that so I asked my husband to come down the and stay with us and was charged extra for it but didnt get another bed that was upsetting.

Review 85:The manager was friendly. The restaurant and breakfast.

Review 86:Location is great, just off the Cape Coral bridge, easy commute anywhere in the area..Loved the bagels in the complimentary breakfast..awesome music all weekend..a different band every night. Tiki hut lunches/dinners are very good. We had planned on eating out, but ended up eating at the tiki hut every night..good food, good music..then walked to our room..what more could you want?

Review 87:This was a girl getaway and we were so pleased when we got to the Hotel. Everyone was so nice, rooms were clean, had a heated pool, and a place to listen to some great music. What a great place to unwind. Close to so many wonderful things. We will make plans to stay here again. Thank you so much!

Review 88:We decided to enjoy our Saturday at the Cape Coral Yacht Club and once we arrived to the hotel, my sister in law along with her husband arrived shortly to assist us in unloading her truck with OUR beach stuff for our 3 children. They were there for less than 5 minutes to unload and use the restroom and within minutes the owner knocked on our door pretty much asking us to LEAVE because we had more than a party of 4 in the room. Mind you when I made reservations I had a party of 5 which included myself, my husband, and my 3 children. I was showering and got out to see what was going on and even with the towel on she insisted and stayed not even considering to come back when I was done showering. She jumped to conclusions not even considering that we had our 3 children listening to the whole conversation. It was totally uncalled for and very unwelcoming. I felt so uncomfortable that I went ahead and let my 2 oldest children sleep at my sister in laws house. I wouldn't recommend it if you have kids since it clearly isn't a family friendly location. It's a shame to be faced with people like this and what made me even more upset is that my children were so well behaved. I can understand getting kicked out for a noise complaint, but there was no noise coming from our room except for running water and TV.

Review 89:The only thing I really liked about this place is the location to and from the beach and the family that we have in Cape Coral.

Review 90:Everything

Review 91:This resort is perfect for us. Two mature ( that means old) women. We stayed here last year and enjoyed it so much we booked again this year. The rooms are so clean and new. The pool is awesome with plenty of seats. If you want shade there are tables with umbrellas. The Tiki hut is where the complimentary breakfast is served. Good variety for us. The food at the restaurant is good but not fancy. We had fish tacos that were delicious. The entertainment was Wed-Sunday. If you don't like music. Don't stay here. We loved it, especially Sunday with the Oldies. The owners, the staff and even the girls cleaning the rooms are so friendly and nice. Looking forward to going back next year. BTW not far from Jet Blue park where we took in a Red Sox game.

Review 92:The European style shower had me confused. There were no directions on how to use the shower. The desk staff told me they answered question about why the shower does not work all day. A hint or directions would have been helpful.

Review 93:The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful.

Review 94:The tiki bar was very busy on Friday night and service was very slow.

Review 95:The staff at the front desk was amazing. Every person I had an interaction with was friendly and helpful. Also, the tiki bar was a fun place to hang out in the evenings

Review 96:Computerized AC did not work correctly, motel room miserably hot day and night, mattress on bed cheap and not comfortable, no microwave in room, mold on shower curtain, management slow to respond, never returned my phone call about ac problems, room is extremely basic ( NO seating), room was overpriced 520 dollars for three days and it was a 100 dollar room at best.

Review 97:tiki bar was nice, pool was nice

Review 98:Tiki staff slow and unfriendly. No poolside staff for drinks and food outside.

Review 99:The beautiful grounds and pool area. Convenience of tiki hut. Friendly hskpg and maintenance staff.

Review 100:The friendly staff, good thick towels changed when asked for.the pool was great & grounds wear beautiful ., We liked the shower, worked great.

Review 101:I like staying in places with "personality," and Dolphin Key Resort was a pleasant surprise. Friendly, helpful staff, immaculate rooms, and the best Tiki Bar EVER. I would definitely book another stay!

Review 102:We loved this property. It was very serene and felt like a little tropical paradise. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We will be back again and again.

Review 103:The breakfast was lacking and the hotel could be a little noisy.

Review 104:The staff was extremely helpful and upgraded our room to a suite for our honeymoon. The room was large and clean with updated amenities (tv, wine chiller, microwave, fridge, keurig). The pool is cute and connected to a tiki bar with live music Thursday through Sunday.

Review 105:Food at the "tiki" bar was sub par. Worst natchos we've ever had. Continental breakfast was fair and layout poor. Food was spread out different bar tables, not very organized.

Review 106:Room was clean and updated. Pool and grounds were nice.

Review 107:This property was close to the Edison - Ford Winter homes which was the reason for our staying a night in the Fort Meyers - Cape Coral area. It was clean with the typical Florida "no rugs decor". Our short stay was pleasant.

Review 108:Bring ear plugs for the Saturday and Friday bands-too loud. Wednesday and Sundays bands perfect. It gets expensive for drinks at the Tiki bar.

Review 109:Love the pool, central location and the Tiki Bar. Great coffee in the lobby. Each year the staff improve in professionalism and speed of service. So close to Sanibel and Cape Coral Yacht Club beach. Overall great stay!

Review 110:Very noisy drunks returning to rooms from attached bar.

Review 111:Rooms were large and well equipped, the bathroom looked newly fitted. The "free" breakfast wasn't great, orange juice OK, coffee poor, bagels average. Didn't like the look of anything else.

Review 112:can you please change the breakfast a little, became very boring after 12 days.

Review 113:the manager earnie was etreamly nice and helpful. enjoyed are stay. may want to come back next year.

Review 114:Dirty floors. Noisy air conditioner, room too warm. Temp set at 60, but much warmer than that. Hall light right outside room, room didn't get dark at night.

Review 115:Double sink with granite countertop. Updated furniture and bathrooms. Free Wi-Fi.

Review 116:Would just suggest a little more variety for the Continental breakfast.

Review 117:Was pleased with the property overall. My husband and I couldn't have been happier with the amenities....everything was just right. We had a lot of fun at the Tiki Bar...conveniently located on the property. The rooms were clean, loved that the floors were tile and there was no carpet. The absolute best perk for us was the rainfall shower head!

Review 118:Odd that we were asked to pay in full on arrival, made me a bit cautious about how it would be ... in reality there were no problems and this was a good hotel.

Review 119:Large rooms, top floor has v high ceiling. Good quality beds and furnishings in the rooms. V friendly helpful staff, free pool towels, lovely warm pool. Breakfast, included, v good quality bagels and OJ and yoghurts - simple but so tasty. There was cereal cold meat and pastries as well. Far better than usual hotel fare. Location in Cape Coral v good with lots of restaurants in walking distance

Review 120:Some of the front desk a little lethargic. A very nice and efficient woman, not the owner, came over from the office and helped out at the 3:00 check in rush. Oh the black Mercedes convert was a nice touch:-)

Review 121:Very nice room. Great pool and plenty of conversation at the well attended tiki bar. We never left the area.

Review 122:The Tiki Hut and rooms were way too close with the loud music. Yes, the band stopped at 11pm but the speaker music played till closing. Also the pool was right next to the Tiki Hut which is too close. People eating and pool view together not a good combination.

Review 123:No carpet in the rooms. The shower pressure was great.

Review 124:We pulled up and we unsure but then the rooms were clean and updated! Pool area and tiki bar were great. Well suited for a range of travellers. A little gem, we will definitely be back. Loved having a ground floor room as we put our kids to bed and pulled up some chairs with a couple drinks in front of our door.

Review 125:We did not have a bad experience, but there were couple of maintenance issues. The air conditioner was not operating properly - we had to set it on 60 degrees to get the room comfortably cool-ish. The door latch was no operating properly. Continental breakfast is pretty sparse, but would have been OK if the staff had been better about refilling coffee, juice and milk promptly.

Review 126:Large room, free WiFi, nice pool area. Very pleasant staff greeted us. Clean!

Review 127:Pillows on bed, not king size and not comfortable to sleep on. The lay out of the room..would have liked more of a cozy environment with the couch, etc.

Review 128:The pool, Tiki Bar and exceptional staff, their smiles and warm welcomes and smiles. Rooms were so clean!!! Loved the shower too.

Review 129:The only down side for me was the exterior light that came in from the bottom of the curtains.

Review 130:We had spent the prior five days at a Hilton resort. The room at Dolphin Key Resort was larger with vaulted ceilings. The room appeared to have been completely update recently using quality materials and fixtures. Ceramic tile floors thru out that were heated in the bath and vanity areas. The shower and toilet were in a separate room from the double sink granite top vanity. The air conditioning unit was extremely quiet and maintained the room temperature with minimal fluctuation. The exterior grounds had mature Palm and Coconut trees with well-established flowering shrubs and plants.

Review 131:Bright lights outside of rooms.

Review 132:Great staff! They were friendly and always helpful. Music almost every night was very enjoyable. Free breakfast, lots of good restaurants in the area. Not far from the beaches although enjoyed the heated pool better.
