Reviews for Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay
Review 1:The staff was unbelievable and accommodating. We were there on our honeymoon and it couldn't have been more dreamlike. The property is fantastic the location is superb and they took care of everything. I couldn't write a hotel higher and I've stayed in hundreds.
Review 2:Didn't like the noise and frequency of airplanes flying overhead when outside. Expensive food
Review 3:Very nice hotel with a lot of ammendities, clean with friendly staff
Review 4:Nothing is automatically put into your room and you have to request what you want or need. So no bathrobe, slippers and even a shower cap was a request able item!
Review 5:Casitas were lovely and not like a large chain hotel at all.
Review 6:Restaurant menu a little limited (4 entrees were veal), noisy Northwestern fans at 1 a.m., small pool for a hotel that size
Review 7:Excellent facility. very helpful and very courteous staff. clean, comfortable and stylish design.
Review 8:NONE
Review 9:It was a great stay. We had two rooms with children and grand kids and the service was wonderful. The staff was so accomodating, pleasant, and helped you with every request.
Review 10:It was easy access to all the highways, but still excluded enough. All the staff was very accommodating.
Review 11:Easy to major highways to get around, but still secluded.
Review 12:the facilities, but awsome, the service of your staff; there were always prompt to help, room service was fast and foos was good, when we requested something there was always a "yes" or willingness to solve matters quickly.
Review 13:Had a view of the parking lot, room was never cleaned, was charged and extra 100 dollars and was never reinbursed
Review 14:The room was nice and hotel was in a central location
Review 15:What's not to like?
Review 16:Everyone was cordial and helpful, the location and grounds were gorgeous, and the restaurants on the property were very good. In particular, the staff at the downstairs bar and restaurant took an interest in us, asking what our plans for the day were each morning at breakfast and offering suggestions. We were also impressed with the diversity of the staff and guests at the hotel.
Review 17:The walk to the parking lot. Next visit I will valet.
Review 18:We liked the view of the bay at sunset, the themed holiday decorations, and the eggnog and peppermint jelly beans. We appreciated the friendliness of the staff particularly Brittany at the front desk and Regina at the Concierge ďesk who gave excellent choices for our visit to Clearwater. We had dinner at Armani's which was one of the highlights of my birthday weekend. I want to return soon.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:We stayed here having arrived at Tampa airport from London. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, friendly and interested. There seemed to be a great teamspirit and pride in the hotel .
Review 21:Noise from rooms, low water pressure in the shower
Review 22:Location, view from room, stuff, comfortable bed, comfortable sheets, restaurants, room design, excellent value for money
Review 23:Nothing!!! Literally nothing! Everything and everyone was amazing!
Review 24:Service and the people are amazing!!! This is our second year going for our anniversary!!! Just overall great!!!
Review 25:I find the doors and walls quite thin, I could hear my next door neighbours quarreling when I was in bed (though it could also be the neighbours' problem as it was quiet after they left). I could hear doors opening and closing all the time. The housekeeping did not send the items that I requested for when they said they would do so. This is not a major issue but as this is a Hyatt, I did not expect this to have happened.
Review 26:The hotel was clean and modern. I requested for a bay view room and the view was great. I love it! I also found the hotel at a good rate, so it was great value for money. I stayed in 3 different hotels during my trip, Grand Hyatt was the best and the cheapest among them - I booked it without hesitation. Oystercatchers was a 5 to 10 minutes walk from the main hotel building, ask for a seat by the window and go before sunset. I also had a good chat with the driver who picked me up from the airport. The bellboy helped to close my luggage which I struggled with for at least 20 minutes, really grateful. Dante, at the concierge desk, was also very nice and helpful. It was located along Courtney Campbell Causeway so it is really convenient if driving, whether to Tampa or Clearwater. Self parking is free and they have plenty of lots. Do stop along Ben T Davis Beach on the causeway for a beautiful sunset. It is also near to the airport, about 5 to 10 minutes drive. They have free shuttle to International Plaza and Westshore Plaza, about once every 3 hour. The King bed was also very comfortable. The bathroom was kind of partitioned away from the bedroom which I also really like. The room was very spacious. I simply love it and enjoyed returning to the hotel every day. It also made me not want to leave the room. I was offered a discount after I gave my feedback about the issues I had which is really appreciated. This will be my top choice of hotel if I return to Tampa and hopefully, they will have good rates then too.
Review 27:Nothing to report
Review 28:This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel. It is a coveneint location for getting to Orlando International Airport, the facilities are excellent and the staff do all they can to make the stay great.
Review 29:Our room had a terrible smell. I did complain and they immediately changed our room. Housekeeping should have known
Review 30:It was right on the bay with a wonderful view
Review 31:I called ahead of time to make sure my room was ready and they told me that it would be. When we got there the room was unavailable until the next day. They quickly offered me an alternate room as well as a credit. This was the only negative that quickly turned into a positive.
Review 32:We stayed in the casitas; super nice rooms. Secluded from the main hotel and very spacious king room. Super clean and the most helpful staff you can meet from the valet to the bellhop.
Review 33:Staff seemed a bit stretched thin at the bar and pool areas, they closed very early on the weekend
Review 34:Great location and views, rooms were very comfortable
Review 35:The shower did not have hot water, the pool was freezing and the hot tub was warm at best and looked like it hadn't been cleaned all year.
Review 36:The rooms were clean and the location was very ideal.
Review 37:Staff great, food superb in the oystercatcher restaurant, staff in there are fab especially max and jarred who gave great advice, rooms spotless and comfortable. Yes there's quite a lot of business people but the hotel is quality!!
Review 38:The pool pictures were not what they seemed, one was a 7 minute walk.
Review 39:The pictures of the pool were very deceiving, they were not as close as it seemed.
Review 40:Decor was dull Air con was too cold in public areeas
Review 41:Oystercatchers was lovely Sunday brunch was great Armani was very good one evening and the other was only average.
Review 42:I didn´t like the attitude of the valet parking personnel when I said I preferred self-parking zone.
Review 43:Good property near the airport. Far from any other location but high quality services in general.
Review 44:Food and drinks were a little pricy.
Review 45:I loved the whole experience. The Casidas were great with a short nature walk to the hotel. I would stay there again.
Review 46:The pool and facilities were lovely and the staff were very friendly and welcoming particularly the bar staff. The rooms were excellent and very spacious.
Review 47:The breakfast was far too expensive especially for a family of four.
Review 48:The pools were lovely, especially the one a little further from the hotel. Breath taking views
Review 49:Not a bad experience just thought that if you are going to have the water table off the main check in area, it should be continually staffed and cups available for patrons. It was out of cups by late day each day we were there. The idea is great though!
Review 50:Managment was very nice and the front desk folks were very polite and welcoming. Caleb was especially helpful at check in!
Review 51:We had asked the front desk for several toiletries over the phone. They promised us to send someone but they never arrive.
Review 52:Very friendly staff, clean rooms!
Review 53:Nothing to do with hotel but sat nav couldn't find it in rain!!!
Review 54:Very helpful staff, wanted to go to a baseball game so found a midweek one and perfect directions.Pool area very clean and lovely warm pool to relax in after sightseeing all day.Bar food lovely.
Review 55:I didn't like the fact that the complimentary wifi was limited to a certain number of hours! I think 15 or so!
Review 56:I loved the location, amenities & staff! The hotel was BEAUTIFUL & the staff was very attentive! I also loved the gym hours & high-end equipment! Oh yeah, free parking was convenient!
Review 57:Exceptional service, a wonderful stay. Clean comfortable room with a fabulous view! I would not hesitate to go back to The Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. I am a tough customer to please but didn't have a single concern despite looking for a flaw, something, anything. It was beyond my expectations! 5 star resort! The Manager is the heart of the Hyatt! Bravo!!!
Review 58:Bed was a little soft for our preferences, immediate bay water was pretty murky, and breakfast options were a bit steep.
Review 59:The restaurants are top notch and the view from the room was wonderful.
Review 60:The food at both restaurants was great. Enjoyed everything ordered over the course of four days. The lobby was inviting and comfortable with a nice bar, and the two pools were both nice with their own bars. Good views and central location.
Review 61:I did not like the size of the pillows; way too tiny, or the number of pillows; too few. I also didn't appreciate a front desk person (albeit trainee but needs a lot more training) who talked a mile a minute, hard to understand his accent. And finally I didn't like that he said I would have to pay an extra $30 for a higher floor although I had requested it at the time of my reservation.
Review 62:I liked the size of the room, the bathroom and the overall look of the room.
Review 63:The valet staff seemed a bit irritated
Review 64:The hotel rooms were so clean and had great views. The grounds had a lot of walking areas and the pool and out door areas were so welcoming we wil def be back
Review 65:The hotel being so close to the airport. Hearing airplanes taking off was not very appealing
Review 66:The room was very nice and secluded. The pool was quiet and easy to get to
Review 67:The hotel is too remote; although the hotel provides shuttle buses to the airport and to two of the Shopping Malls, it is difficult to get to the tourist attractions, e.g., Busch Gardens,Florida Aquarium, etc., if you do not have a car. You can't claim Hyatt Gold Passport points for the nights you stay when you make the reservation via a third party, e.g., Booking.com The hotel is frequently used for conventions and the noise levels in the public areas can be excessive at times.
Review 68:Great hotel with excellent facilities and two good restaurants. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful
Review 69:nothing - everything was spectactular
Review 70:Victoria was a great help in getting me ice for my swollen hands, Katy at 1823 sent us a bottle of wine to celebrate my 60 birthday, Thank you.
Review 71:Pools small...one by the beach was dirty and uninviting. The pool by the hotel was great except for the live crabs crawling around the bottom! Issues with door locks which were resolved quickly.
Review 72:Love the hotel! Stay on the 14th floor with a view. Restaurant up there is closed on Sunday though...staff was very nice and accommodating.
Review 73:You can't actually go in the water on the beach at this hotel as it is man made . But there are two pools on sight
Review 74:excelent food ! Best room service I've ever had ! Very nice clean fancy hotel
Review 75:Only that the front doors need to auto open. The idea is that there is someone to open the door for you but more times than not that person was busy helping others. It is difficult to maneuver the doors while pulling luggage.
Review 76:The room was well decorated and comfortale
Review 77:I didn't like the hidden fees included in the stay. I wasn't aware of the fees until I actually checked in. This is something that inconvenience us a lot. Even going over the full payment before we got there, these fees were never mentioned.
Review 78:I love the beautiful scenery of the Grand Hyatt in Tampa The Casista we stayed in were beautiful and very private. Everyone was so helpful and polite.
Review 79:The fact that the roof top and one of the best restaurants were not open on a Holiday Weekend. That was the reason for choosing the property .
Review 80:The name brand
Review 81:this place is not family friendly.. The fridge is a joke. For that price they could offer you at least a donut.
Review 82:the view is insane, the location is epic, the pool at the casitas and oystercatcher.
Review 83:The pool bartenders were friendly and engaging. We spent a lot of time by the pool. The atmosphere was great and location is convienent to beaches and downtown.
Review 84:Reception and bar area was the usual characterless 5 star hotel feel.
Review 85:On the 11th floor facing the highway and airport fascinated my wife. Much more interesting than the bay view and sound proofing was excellent and left the curtains open all night to watch. Second pool down by the bay was really nice.
Review 86:Breakfast was too expensive for families with small children, they don't eat alot, so the buffet was to costly. A smaller kids menu would be better.
Review 87:comfort, location, beauty
Review 88:The pool with the bay view was really far and the front desk lady didnt tell us about the shuttle so we walked the whole way. Not cool! But the walk was scenic.
Review 89:Everyone was really nice. We were there for a music festival and it was really close to the venue. The room was very spacious too.
Review 90:NOTHING I LOVE EVERYTHING
Review 91:I LIKE EVERYTHING I WILL BOOK IN WITH YOU GUYS IN THE FUTURE AGAIN. I love that place. ALL NEAR AND GREAT CONFORT AND BEATIFUL VIEW.
Review 92:Hated the fan in the bathroom very noisy and no mirrors in the mainroom.. Only Mirror was in the bathroom!! Obviously designed by a man...Plain stupid!! Also the air conditioner made a noise like heat coming inin a radiator!!! And no one told us breakfast was not served on MemorialDay.. Very disappointed!
Review 93:The casita's were lovely spacious , clean and comfortable! Staff wasvery helpful and beautiful surroundings! Ate lunch at the oystercatcherspoolside and it was delicious.. Went back for dinner and was the bestpeice of Grouper my husband and I have had in years!! Service wasamazing.. .. And the "Lightning"" won the game ,what morecould we ask for!!!
Review 94:I was in a Casita, which is a little bit of a walk from the main hotel, where the conference was held. The Casita's are very comfortable and I liked the "patio" area. I also thought the nature walk was excellent and had good signage to help you identify the different species you might see.
Review 95:Couldn't stay longer!
Review 96:The entire staff was so kind, the room was pristine and so comfortable, the food most excellent and the location was so conveniently located to get around the city and get to the airport quickly!
Review 97:The only small problem was the lack of amenities - tea, milk etc in the bedroom. We arrived very tired from UK and a 'cuppa' would have been welcome, Also the receptionist was unaware that we could charge the parking fee to our room!
Review 98:The situation was excellent and the hotel suited us very well.
Review 99:didn't like the proximity to airport and the fact that we could hear the planes
Review 100:We liked the nature trail. The on site restaurant Oystercathers was A+ with great ambiance, water views and the food was really good. We would return but stay at the Casitas perhaps next time
Review 101:Pedestrian signage & sidewalk to Oystercatcher needs improvement! Chairs in the lobby area are not made for comfort, at least for average sized humans. Concierge was a rather negative chap.
Review 102:Oystercatcher Restaurant was excellent! Bellmen & valets were prompt & super friendly. Staff in general was well trained. Comfy bed and terrific shower!
Review 103:No bathrobes. Sub par coffee maker in room makes ordering room service coffee a must.
Review 104:Staying in a casita felt like we had landed at a Caribbean resort. So close to the airport, yet so much more than a corporate "airport hotel". Liked that we didn't have to leave the grounds. Great sunset dinner at Oyster Catchers.
Review 105:Location wasn't extremely accessible to area Tampa nightlife or stores. A little expensive in terms of drinks, food, etc.
Review 106:Staff was excellent - very courteous and helpful. Beautiful pool area near the Casitas and right on the Bay. Room was clean and no issues with anything.
Review 107:I noticed one towel that was still a bit dirty.
Review 108:The location of the hotel is excellent, so close to the Tampa airport. The shuttles provided are very convenient. The staff was super friendly and helped me to get to St. Pete early morning. I also liked having a bar in the pool area for easy ordering of food.
Review 109:We stayed in the casita portion of the hotel. These are in a different area (7 minute walk or short shuttle ride) so you miss out on main hotel amenities. Noise from airport in early am.
Review 110:The entire staff was excellent! From valet, bellman, housekeeping to servers. Saltwater pool near casitas while small was very enjoyable.
Review 111:Staff was more than excellent, very service oriented. They can put a hotel on a garbagedump, and it will still be allright with staff like this! Hats off. Beds vry comfy, room spic and span. Very , very good servicelevel.
Review 112:Stayed at the casitas. Was not booked for that but to our surprise found ourselves in a tropical paradise! We only left the property one evening. The other four days were spent lounging at the pool, having a cocktail and appetizers at the lobby bar, walking the nature trail, relaxing in our Casita with private patio. On last evening, we dressed up a little and walked to the "Oystercatcher" for an outstanding dinner. We tried the appetizers, salad, wine , entrees , dessert ending withmy boyfriend having a cigar by the pool. The view was beautiful. Service and staff outstanding
Review 113:The room was great. We were unable to use the pool or anything outside because the weather was too cool and we were exhausted. We took advantage of the airport shuttle the next morning and were very impressed. We arrived at the airport within 10 minutes and the driver was very pleasant.
Review 114:Had to get a plumber as water didn't drain from sink. Also hairdryer had to be replaced and electric socket in sink had to be changed. This was all done fairly promptly.
Review 115:Very nice breakfast choice and pleasant staff
Review 116:Service in the 1823 Bar was spotty, first visit was served right away they noticed me and came over, Ben was great. Second time in the 1823 Bar I sat for 12 minutes at Table #13 and no one came over and asked me if I wanted a drink or anything to eat that is what I stopped in for. I finally had to flag down one of the food runners and asked him am I not sitting at a table that gets service. He said no you are at table #13 and let me fix this for you. Then one of the (2) gentleman servers behind the bar came over after the food runner bringing me to his attention. Strange as bar area was only half full at this time and both bar servers were busy yacking and laughing with other customers facing right out to me and I was sitting right out in front. I also noticed guests sitting across from me in the lounge area on the right side only half were getting served others were ignored. They had to also approach the bar to get service and even bussed their own wine glasses themselves as they were not provided service either. Disappointing such a nice comfy area to sit and get some food and a drink but if made you feel like they didn't want to help you. The 1823 Bar also had one female server grabbing tables but she seemed to only be servicing some of the tables not checking on all of them. They must divide it up somehow but their system wasn't working as many tables were being missed.
Review 117:Bellman, Front Door, Shuttle Drivers, Front Desk Personnel were wonderful. Service was exceptional and I was impressed with the staff.
Review 118:Shuttle bus to airport doesn't start until 5 am. We needed a 4:30 departure. They did accommodate us but it wasn't an automatic service with an enthusiastic positive response. Seems like a hotel so close to the airport should have this situation on auto pilot.
Review 119:The grounds, lobby, quiet room and the Oyster Catchers restaurant.
Review 120:Friendly staff and a beautiful setting. The stay cost a pretty Pennie, but with the included wifi and the included fitness center, the value was there. Highly recommend.
Review 121:Nothing at all as everything was amazing .
Review 122:Staff was professional . Pool was clean . Sidewalks are safety . Room was amazing and has a really perfect view . Price is expensive but deserve it .
Review 123:The pictures on the website make the Casitas look bright, sunny, and airy. This is not the case. The room was dull and gloomy, and didn't have enough lamps. This is a deciding factor for me, a bright room, so it was somewhat disappointing and took away from the experience.
Review 124:Loved the bed, staff was very accomodating, and the food at the Oystercatchers Restaurant was delicious!!
Review 125:Stayed 4 nights. The first night was walk in seperate booking. They have preauthorized my credit card two times and charged for incidentals twice as well. They are still holding a huge amount on my credit after 5 days from check out. God only knows when it'll be released. This causing me a great inconvenience. The restaurant is inside the lobby. The smell of food is all the over the place at almost all times.
Review 126:The Hyatt has been remodeled beautifully. The hotel rooms are large and were very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were extremely pleased with our stay.
Review 127:Concierge never available when we looked for him/her
Review 128:The grounds are beautiful. Buffet breakfast is good. Available juices and coffee. Great lobby bar. Helpful front desk Easy check-in Easy highway access
Review 129:My husband had asked for a twin room, on arrival, ( after a 10 hour flight) and a shuttle ride to the room, we discovered it was a double.but too tired to do anything about it. Light on patio not working so phoned front desk, help promised but did not appear. Next morning, however, it was fixed within half an hour of mentioning. The outside of the building could do with some TLC, and the cigarette butts in the grass off the patio, need to be removed.
Review 130:Every member of staff we met face to face was friendly, efficient and helpful.
Review 131:The casita room was great ,whatever you do do not have stay in room which adjoins another . The worst night in my history of traveling . The room was rented out to a party of drunkards, not only did they attempt to burst into my rrom ,they played loud music until 4am. Altough I called and complained repeatedly ,no one belived me at the front desk. It was only after security personnel came into my unit and listened did they finally stop the ruckus
Review 132:The front Desk upon arrival ,original room request not available due to my late arrival, to compensate I was given a casita . Due tone night of no sleep ,the front desk/management ,deducted 1 night's billing (see what I did not like} Housekeeping was terrific in terms of the room cleanliness and handling laundry request
Review 133:The price of the room was lower due to renovations taking place in the hotel. We never got disturbed my the renovations and got a great deal in an awesome hotel!
Review 134:The sound of cars rushing by when at the pool was a bit noisy; no wait staff outside; the small convenience store in the lobby could have been larger and better stocked with grab-and-go foods, wine, souveniers, clothes. These are all small issues given the beauty of the view, size of room, and nightly rate.
Review 135:shuttle services were great--they'll take you anywhere within 3 miles of the hotel; spectacular waterviews from room; Oystercatchers was really delicious--not a typical hotel restaurant; pizza in lobby bar was great, too; walk to pavilion was fun; location to business neighborhood was a short cab ride away; very close to airport, but no airport noise; the gym was first rate with new machines--cool washcloths post-workout! Room and bathroom were spacious; nightly rate was extremely reasonable, too. This is not a child-centric hotel.
The Fine Print
