Reviews for Hyde Park Hotel

Review 1:Beds are too small for two people (room was booked for four person). Air conditioning wasn't eficient enough even when it was "only" about 80 F outside. Not enough towels (got them when asked).

Review 2:Small kitchen was nice. Free parking.

Review 3:The room was a little on the snug side, but it was explained that the rooms were formerly studios. Keep this in mind when booking and hopefully you are staying with people you like!

Review 4:Location was great and staff very welcoming!

Review 5:Office was completely un-staffed at night and early morning. Room had a slight smell.

Review 6:Great Location. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy check-in and check-out.

Review 7:Super helpful, nice office managers, they recommended a great nearby beach to go to while I was there for a conference. Simple rooms, but the beds are very comfortable and there's a kitchenette. Located right in the Hyde Park area, about a dozen restraunts in two blocks, cute shopping district, scenic walks, walking distance or convenient bus lines to downtown Tampa.

Review 8:Good location, nice room and bed and very friendly staff. It was great to have my car on the property and for no charge. Close to all shops and venues

Review 9:Wished there was more water pressure in the shower.

Review 10:Very convenient, I arrived at 1:30a.m from a long and tiring flight. I was very appreciative that I was able to be buzzed in and I didn't have to wait to be check in or sign paperwork.

Review 11:The staff (Pierre) was very sweet and helpful

Review 12:They don't serve breakfast at the hotel , but a short walk up the block was an amazing place to eat breakfast

Review 13:Excellent, central location is just one of the perks of the Hyde Park. The building is charming, staff is attentive, and the beds extremely comfy! You're close to the action, but on a quiet street, where relaxing is easy. Also, free parking is a great bonus (as compared to the Epicurean's mandatory valet), and you're just around the corner from a supermarket.

Review 14:Bathroom had roaches, no counter space, door to bathroom had see through slats facing the bed. Very awkward for friends staying. Roaches in bathroom walls and limited parking spaces.

Review 15:Clean and efficient. Quiet.

Review 16:definitely in need of renovating... Although there was nothing wrong except the closet door was missing a handle and said closet was very tiny...but living in an old home myself, I'm used to that.

Review 17:friendly staff, decent location, just off the main thoroughfare of Howard Ave. nice double head shower, king size bed....

Review 18:Although the room was clean looking, there was a foul smell in the room. At first we thought it was a "mouldy" smell, but it turns out the smell was coming from the a/c. It smelt like a dead animal had died in there. Luckily for us, the night was breezy (something that barely happens in Tampa), and we slept with the window open and no a/c. The next morning we couldn't wait to get out, I didn't even want to step into the shower. Sorry, I didn't want to say anything bad, but the smell did it for me.

Review 19:The location was wonderful. Close to all happening little spots. Staff was friendly. Room was descent.

Review 20:No staff. No lobby. Run down. No restaurant or bar. Never recieved printed bill. Its a converted apt building. Theee is no airport shuttle

Review 21:Location is good.

Review 22:There was a really helpful staff member and another that forgot about me and an unfortunate turn-over of maid service, but all-in-all I was still happy staying there. The only other thing was the pillows were a little too high and gave me some discomfort, but I get that at most hotels!

Review 23:I could walk to all the places I needed to go or take a short drive. It's close to all the action, but far enough away to be nice and quiet. Having a kitchen while away from home was great. I could still eat healthy and save money. I loved the LA Fitness membership that I was too busy to use, maybe next time. It's a really unique place with a different kind of vibe, not a cookie cutter corporate hotel chain. I appreciate that.

Review 24:Stain on sheet, hair on pillow, room advertised was not what the room we got---NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE

Review 25:I was able to get my money back and workers were nice

Review 26:The A/C wasn't working properly - got uncomfortably warm during the evening. The shower temperature could barely reach 'warm'.

Review 27:Conveniently located near shopping and grocery stores; 8 minute drive from Gasparilla Music Festival grounds; comfortable beds.

Review 28:They got the reservations wrong although they did fix it. The room was dirty, my feet turned black from walking on the tile floors, found a sanitary napkin wrapper on the window sill, and sheets looked dirty although they did smell clean. Area was extremely noisy, had people yelling right outside the room window for almost two hours plus you could hear right through the walls. Heater didn't work.

Review 29:Bathroom and Shower was awesome. Very friendly receptionist. Bed was very comfortable.

Review 30:From earlier reviews, I was prepared for the old, mismatched furniture and outdated decor. Furthermore, I don't recommend it for those with mobility issues until the place is remodeled later this year. However, the room was very clean, the bed & linens comfortable and the kitchenette in working order. We feel we received a good value for the money.

Review 31:Really loved the quiet but convenient location in the Soho (South Howard) district. Plenty of dining options & funky shops within walking distance in nice weather. Residents seemed to be made up of mostly college students & young professionals. The hotel itself, while awaiting a renovation, was homey, clean, quiet and provided a well-lit and secure entrance. Nice not to have to pay for parking as with other nearby hotels. The gentleman who checked us in and showed us to our room was engaging and efficient.

Review 32:You advertise as large rooms with kitchen facilities, however with four people traveling, it is not a good deal. The room was too small!!!! I felt I was lied to, from the picture's on the internet. The room's are dorm room's. And for $160 dollars a night, it was not good.

Review 33:The Inn is in a good area for college students or for us who were on the way to Florida.

Review 34:The room was cramped. Kitchen was not clean, bath room was small and shower even smaller. The floors were stained. You could not go out the door with a suite case in hand because it was so cramped that you had to open the do first then drag you suite case out. Narrow door way. Probably wont stay there again.

Review 35:It was located with in a mile or so of the Convention Center I attended.

Review 36:I didn't enjoy all the dust particles hanging from the popcorn ceiling. They waved in the wind from the air conditioning. I didn't see the bathroom that was depicted in the photos online. The marbled spacious bathroom that was depicted in the photos. Our bathroom was cramped with a corner shower. It looked like an old apartment bathroom. The beds took up nearly the whole space in the room. The door hit the bed when opening it. We felt so uncomfortable that we did not stay our second night. We left heading back towards our hometown and stopped at a better hotel.

Review 37:I enjoyed the staff, especially the front desk individual. I enjoyed that breakfast was a walk down the street.

Review 38:Kitchen We were first shown two other rooms. The rooms were too small to accomodate 2 beds.

Review 39:Close proximity to restaurants. New bathroom comfortable bed

Review 40:Only staff and excellent internet function

Review 41:I was surprise when the time reached the room It's category 3 stars hotel I'm disappointed of the level of the hotel Pls change what shown in wep about this hotel I feel this is a kind of cheating

Review 42:No elevator. It's only a 2-story building, but I don't travel lightly. Had to lug all of my stuff up the stairs (probably original staircase, and quite narrow). The guy at the desk did offer to help, but I refused. Thinking of my in-laws and my parents who have trouble with stairs, this wouldn't be the hotel for them, unless they could get a room on the 1st floor. No easy wheelchair access -- you would have to get someone to walk up the front steps, go through to the side door and open the door to the ramp access.

Review 43:This hotel was walking distance (1-2 blocks) to restaurants and shops in Hyde Park -- you could even walk to downtown Tampa if you're up for a longer walk. I love that they kept many of the original features of the building (hardwood floors, tiles, etc.) when renovating. I really didn't hear any noise from the other guests or the renovations they told me were going on downstairs overnight.

Review 44:Just on the edge of the 'happening' part of town with restaurants, bars etc. But on a very quiet side street. Short walk from Harbourside Blvd. Staff very helpful. Superb value for money.

Review 45:The rooms are quite small. But I would stay again!

Review 46:Nice convenient location to city attractions. Wonderful restaurants and grocery/conveince stores within walking distance.

Review 47:There was hair on/in my bed sheets. Also, no bath mat in the bathroom. Would have liked an outlet somewhere in the kitchen other than by the microwave; here you had to put the coffee pot in front of the microwave in order to plug it in.

Review 48:The ambience was charming. Loved the European-style duvets on on the beds. The wooden floors and window slats where also nice.

Review 49:No elevator

Review 50:Impeccable cleanliness, with a small yet courteous staff who have excellent customer service. The charm of the building reminds you of "old Florida" yet the way the rooms are decorated in a simple yet elegant way wants to make you extend your stay. Walking distance to EVERYTHING- we recommend Thai Palace Restaurant

Review 51:The rooms lack any sort of couch or sitting area, aside from the bed.

Review 52:The location & comfort of the Hyde Park hotel is the best deal I have found in Tampa. The staff are extremely helpful & friendly. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are kept impeccably clean. The rooms feature kitchenettes and there is coin operated laundry, which make it a good choice for an extended stay.

Review 53:Ants in the first room but they switched us to another as soon as we saw the critters. No room for a play pen, our baby had to sleep in her carseat on the desk for the whole trip.

Review 54:Rooms were unique and comfy. Location was excellent close to everything. Kitchen was useful and was a must when traveling with a baby

Review 55:The room was very hot, the A/C was very noisy and cold, but it cycled on and off too much. When the A/C was running, it was cold and we needed a blanket over us, when it turned off the room quickly became stifling and we had to throw the blanket off, this happened about every half hour, so we were constantly waking up all night long, with the noise and having to pull the blanket on, or take it off. There was also a peculiar smell that irritated my throat - maybe a cleaning product?

Review 56:The Location was great for Berns restaurant which is where we wanted to be, it was easy to get to and the neighbourhood seemed interesting, the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean.

Review 57:Old type room design with barely room for bed. Never got DVD player to work & no one to address ussue with.

Review 58:Location & staff friendly.

Review 59:bathroom door provided no privacy

Review 60:good bed, nice people

Review 61:Room had no hot water.

Review 62:Close to food n light life.

Review 63:No vending or ice machine. A/C did not work very well

Review 64:Clean, reasonable rates. Can't beat the location

Review 65:Location was perfect for where we wanted to be. Definitly a quirky property. If you are looking for luxury look elsewhere.

Review 66:It was cozy and clean

Review 67:Looked a lot nicer on line. Could have stayed in hotel downtown for s20 more. Was more like a $65/nt hotel.

Review 68:Rooms were clean

Review 69:Room very cramped

Review 70:Location

Review 71:The room deodorizer keep sending the perfume and could not sleep with over activated smell and sound.

Review 72:near the highway

Review 73:quite and clean

Review 74:The staff were so friendly and they even had DVDs available for free to borrow in the office. Also, it was just a great location. Highly recommend.

Review 75:A little small, but it has everything you need. It all comes together nicely.

Review 76:The beds and the location!

Review 77:Poor facilities. Too many excuses from management.

Review 78:Location - not much else

Review 79:Small room

Review 80:Huge bed. Great staff, lication, super clean

Review 81:Nice location! Comfortable, helpfull staff. Thanks

Review 82:Lack of cleanliness.

Review 83:Location and staff.

Review 84:Staff never cleaned room, had to ask for coffee every evening for the next morning, had to ask for clean towels and to have my trash emptied

Review 85:Room Size

Review 86:Kitchen in room, convince of location

Review 87:Everything!!!

Review 88:Excellent staff Location: a variety of restaurants and a supermarket nearby A good kitchen facility to make your own food.

Review 89:Needs to be renewed a little

Review 90:Great location and extremely helpful staff.

Review 91:It smelled bad. The shower was dirty. We paid but didnt spend the night.

Review 92:Everything!

Review 93:That I could not stay longer

Review 94:Food and beverage Locations very close. Very Quiet

Review 95:The man who checked us in was so sweet and more than helpful...loved our stay!

Review 96:Window leaked during a thunderstorm (apparently being fixed) and no towels in the bathroom.

Review 97:Very friendly and helpful staff, they were great.

Review 98:Too small

Review 99:The location, the kitchenette

Review 100:Seemed a little creepy and unsafe walking at night to and from the hotel because of location/style of hotel/dimly lit building.

Review 101:Walking distance to several bars and nightlife areas and really easy to get to Tampa

Review 102:Close proximity to restaurants - SideBern's, Bern's Steak House and Epicurean Hotel were only a block away. Great value for the price, although on the small side with a European feel to the rooms, but very comfortable and clean. I was there for a business seminar and ended up coming back the following week, as well. The room had a small kitchenette with stove, sink, micro, fridge; flat screen TV, small bathroom - shower only - open closet, built-in desk. Would definitely go back!

Review 103:A transition in the software the hotel used to process reservations made it a bit awkward to divide the bill, but the changeover should be completed shortly, and the staff were very patient in assisting us to resolve the issue.

Review 104:Rooms were small but very comfortable, and the included full kitchen saved us a lot on breakfast. The staff, including the owner, were very pleasant, helpful, and generous with their time in directing us to nearby restaurants and supermarkets (a block away), and public transit (3 blocks away). I would happily stay there again.

Review 105:Lack of efficient room cleaning, and the fact that there was no open space outside the hotel - nowhere to sit, relax and soak up some sun

Review 106:Peace and quiet, and the great, tucked-away location, yet walking distance to the centre of town

Review 107:location a bit out of the way and sometimes had difficulty getting a bus to the convention centre downtown- this is more a problem with the bus company than the hotel though

Review 108:Friendly staff and safe atmosphere. very fast wifi. environmentally friendly approach. lots of cooking facilities. Lots of local places to eat.

Review 109:People yelling in the hall at night. The hallway was loud and the doors did not block the sound. I called the police because of a couple arguing and throwing things.

Review 110:the beds were great. soft comfy

Review 111:The man who checked us in was not friendly and, in fact, upset because someone opened the door for us. If we had needed a kitchen that would have been nice but the sleeping area was very small and cramped.

Review 112:Location to Bern's Steakhouse.

Review 113:The rooms were tiny. The bed took up most of the room and the bathroom looked nothing like the pictures I saw online. Also you must back out of the parking lot.

Review 114:The bed was very comfortable. Location was nice.

Review 115:Rooms are small but this a boutique hotel. (we were 2 adults & 2 seniors ) Good for two persons. Rooms need to be refreshed, getting worn. Could be a bit cleaner. Great for travellers.

Review 116:Close to airport and downtown Tampa. Resturants and grocery/liquor store nearby. Quiet hotel/street with free parking. Reasonably priced. Beds were comfortable. Fridge and small stove in room.

Review 117:Very poor air-conditioning, lack of space for suitcases and storing clothing, no phone in room, no nightstands, use of laundromat accessibility limited to evenings.

Review 118:Free parking, Hyde Park location, great restaurants nearby (particularly Daily Eats only one block away, Sally O'Neal's Pizza, and Bella's), convenient entry, luxurious Jacuzzi tub and double shower, microwave and fridge, plenty of fluffy towels, quiet, comfortable king-size bed, adequate cable TV channels, clean and carefully kept.

Review 119:Staff was only available and onsite for a few hours a day. The air conditioner was not powerful enough.

Review 120:It had the most comfortable bed and pillows. It was just like being at home. It was very clean and a great value for the money. I liked that it had a small kitchen and was within walking distance to many restaurants and shops.

Review 121:No soap or sponge provided to wash dishes. Otherwise everything was clean.

Review 122:Comfy bed, kitchen in room, great location relative to restaurants and bars on Howard Avenue, friendly staff, next to grocery store and park.

Review 123:Hand towel wraped around the fire sprinkler in the middle of the room.

Review 124:Was nice but was not there but one night so no time to really make a solid judgment.

Review 125:I already replied to this inquiry and hope it was published. The room was very cramped, dingy, cluttered with empty plastic and glass containers. Bathroom small, shower small fiberglass with cloth curtain. Wall mounted unit periodically sprayed deodorant(?) to minimize mold odor from hallway.

Review 126:Lack of stairs was inconvenient. Bed was uncomfortable. Very noisy - lots of random pipe/water noises from upstairs.

Review 127:Location - walking distance to Hyde Park, restaurants. Had a kitchen with fridge and stove.

Review 128:The room was dingy, not very clean and extremely small - we had to take turns walking from beds to bath, to "kitchen" or to door. Door lock not secure. Room periodically "treated" with automatic anti-must scent from gadget mounted over door. Kitchen cabinets filled with empty bottles and plastic containers (to be recycled?). I stay in Tampa a lot and this will be my first and final stay here.

Review 129:Quiet location and convenient for basic shop ping Sweetbay just around the block Kitchen equipped for basics but a bit cramped? Pity whole building scheduled for redevelopment Catch it while you can!!!!

Review 130:No one being on reception when I needed them on Sunday and Monday.

Review 131:It was in a nice quite area. My room was nice and clean. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.
