Reviews for Budget Inn Redwood City

Review 1:Noise from main road all night long. Need new towels, paper thin and very rough. Property very tired, needs an overhaul. Bathroom floor, walls sticky.

Review 2:Staff, location, price compared to other hotels.

Review 3:It did not feel safe and the curtains did not fully close the window so peopel waling past could see right onto my bed which made me have sleepless nights as it is very uncomfortable not to mention the light streaming in. The toilet was blocked from the moment I arrived. There was no hot water at all. It was just warmer then room temperature and i was there in winter. If it was summer I wouldnt have cared. The tv didnt work. Not that I cared but why have them in the room? Overall it is a budget motel and perfectly suitable for a one night stay but then the price should reflect this. It should be $50 per night not $70+

Review 4:Considering all the negative comments about the cleanliness I found it quite clean. Not immaculate but fine for a budget motel. The staff were fairly friendly. Not very helpful but not rude.

Review 5:The TV does not work at all, you only get channel 7. The walls are so thin I felt like the person next to me was sitting in my room and the person above me was coming thru the ceiling. I would NEVER stay on a bottom floor in this place. The carpet has seen better days and the sheets on the bed were so thin it was not a comfortable sleep. The parking spots are small and I have small car. Big trucks were always in the parking lot so not sure if they allow other people to use the lot that are not guest. It is just a total run down basic hotel .

Review 6:The room was big.. it is odd but you get a walk in closet, a little sitting area, extra mirror outside of bathroom.

Review 7:Room is small and the carpet looks not very clean. Car parts are small size. I can't say it is breakfast if there are breads and drinks only. We can hear the voice of next room clearly.

Review 8:It was a little dated. Parking was cramped and difficult to unload all or children and luggage.

Review 9:It was clean and well appointed with a refrigerator and microwave which was nice since I have 2 small children. Free Wi-fi worked well.

Review 10:Really saggy beds. Stupid parking = many construction pickups taking up TWO spaces making lot full with NO room if we came in late.

Review 11:Location near college. Good coffee machine.

Review 12:No comment

Review 13:The second time here First time was nice. Newer room The second time this is the worst hotel in the redwood city area It appears that this was an old super. 8 And a new wing was built They should have fixed the old wing first the old wing is the worst place around But the new wing is pretty nice Make sure you book a deluxe room Otherwise it's a dump

Review 14:The fan in the bathroom was extremely noise and the light wouldn't turn on without it. The location was right on El Camino Real and was very noisy. The "breakfast" wasn't a breakfast but just coffee and packaged sweet rolls.

Review 15:The location was convenient to our destination. The mattress was very comfortable.

Review 16:I was told there were only pastries for breakfast, please add some fruits. Also breakfast is at 7:000am and we had to leave by 6:45 am

Review 17:Spacious rooms, clean, Good customer service

Review 18:Breakfast ?!!!! A coffee machine and a danish ? The cellophane wrapped pastry was doughy. A plain bagel would have been better.Motels that advertise "free" breakfast usually include juice, toaster w/ bagels and bread, [jellies & cream cheese}, bananas, coffee.

Review 19:The room was clean though sparce and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 20:they said they had "continental breakfast", and it is just a coffee machine. they just cleaned my room at 5PM and the check in was supposed to be at 2PM i asked the staff to call a taxi to the airport to the next morning, and the staff said"talk to the manager", and we never met :)

Review 21:the bed was confortable

Review 22:The breakfast should not be given at all-- they just put out some pre-packaged junk food and not even the good kind. The door also would not open with my key card so I had to ask the staff, who didn't seem too thrill too help, multiple times

Review 23:The location was close to where I needed to be

Review 24:the room could have been cleaner in the little places like baseboards.

Review 25:the beds were very comfortable, it was quiet and I felt very safe in the neighborhood.

Review 26:Some maintenance and upgrade required for the hotel. Plus a little better breakfast (right it is only coffee)

Review 27:As I was visiting Stanford university so it was 10 minutes drive in the morning (7:30 am) but return would be approxy. 30 min at 5 pm

Review 28:One of the light bulb in the room had no power cord. 3 out of 6 bulbs in the bathroom had even no bulb. Where is breakfast? Very thin danish with coffee. Never expect any gorgeous service.

Review 29:Reasonable price.

Review 30:hotel was noisy from the main street out front (sirens and traffic all night) and the free breakfast...mini wrapped danish and the most complicated coffee machine I've ever attempted, carpet so dirty you left dirty footprints in the shower

Review 31:central to surrounding area we were visiting

Review 32:Breakfast was old pastries!! The ONLY positive about breakfast was their fancy coffee machine. NO coffee pot in room!!

Review 33:Room was very clean, even though looked kind of old and dirty. It smelled of cleaning chemicals. The age of them room partially distracts from a 'clean' appearance.

Review 34:Breakfast was called "breakfast" which usually means juice, coffee, fruit juice, toast, sweet rolls and muffins, - for Continental; more for "full". There was nothing but coffee and sweetener, not even creamer or cream. No coffee maker in room. No freezer door in refrigerator.

Review 35:When our request for first floor could not be honored, the manager carried our bags upstairs.

Review 36:Horrible sagging bed, carpet was wet from recent cleaning, towels had strange odor to them, bathroom wall was filthy and gang related graffiti scratched into bathroom floor.....would NOT recommend!!

Review 37:Nothing!

Review 38:We had 2 people in room with one towel and wash cloth. I had to go to Target & purchase towel & washcloth b/c office had already closed. No breakfast was offered as advertised online. The carpet was dirty although the bed was clean. It was very disappointing to stay at this facility.

Review 39:Too much for what you get. Did not like it at all. Looked old, dirty, very very basic. Beds weren't made properly. No towels or anything in the bathroom. I asked for smoking room but got non smoking instead. This room had nothing. I ended up in the Pacific Inn 1min walk away.

Review 40:Nothing

Review 41:The continental breakfast was too limited.

Review 42:It was clean and the front desk person was responsive to requests, such as for a hair dryer. This motel is well run by a family of South Asian heritage.

Review 43:Kitchenette was not clean or usable. A/C was very noisy. Street outside room (El Camino) busy and noisy starting early in the morning. Bathroom was dirty, e.g. tub was badly stained. Lighting gross.

Review 44:Access to CalTrain station at San Bruno.

Review 45:There was no continental breakfast, as advertised. The office was not staffed in the morning. Very unsavory people next door, very load cursing and very noisy.

Review 46:breakfast was almost non-existent. Stand up in the lobby and have a donut with coffee. I don't see how they can get away with calling this the continental breakfast. And they did not open until 7 a.m. With the copy still not me.breakfast was almost sister. Panda lobby at the donut with comp. I don't see how they get away with going this rick. And they did not open until 7 a_m. With a copy still not made.

Review 47:The location was good

Review 48:The lady owner was, not friendly, no customer service, actually rude.Would not go back- not because of the accommodations but, because ofher conduct.

Review 49:The old TV console / cabinet was still in use for some reason. A flat screen was installed on the wall between the desk and old TV console/cabinet. Which is very awkward and the cabinet was blocking the closet door. So in order to use closet, you had to move old console.

Review 50:Check in was smooth. They had my reservations which I did on line. Person was very courteous and answered any questions I had.

Review 51:Very old, run down, paint coming off the walls, mold, horrible TV reception, stains all over the carpet, loud neighbors, no coffee maker or iron in room, tiny uncomfortable bed and pillows, coffee and a packaged Danish does not make a breakfast.

Review 52:I stayed 6 nights. Unfriendly people work there (annoyed people at the reception, cleaning staff walking into room without knocking, ...), TV didn't work for me, breakfast included some sort of cinnamon roll and bad coffee.

Review 53:Wifi was easy. that's about all i liked during my stay.

Review 54:It's a basic, cheep motel. Don't expect much. It was clean, and quiet. Parking is ruff. Small spots and small lot. Said rooms had a hair dryer, mine did not.

Review 55:Not the cleanest rooms. Smelled really old and musty.

Review 56:The price was fair, compared to other hotels in the area. We were there for a medical appt. and only needed somewhere to sleep.

Review 57:Smelly room next to noisy traffic that cheap windows couldn't block. Bathroom fan made a loud, rattling noise but had to be on with light, no towel bar (ripped off wall) and no hook. No alarm clock, and lamps by bed didn't work (employee begrudgingly came to check after two calls to front desk). "Breakfast" was instant coffee machine and packaged sweet rolls.

Review 58:Lower price for last-minute booking. Seemed clean enough although everything was old, dumpy, and in need of repair.

Review 59:It was still kind of dirty after housekeepers cleaned. There was roaches.

Review 60:The two beds in different room. And how the staff didnt bug us like other hotels. Its quiet

Review 61:The staff was rude and unwelcoming, there were no amenities as stated inthe description and it was filthy. We checked in, entered our room andleft. We were appalled at the loutish behavior of the staff and shockedby the uninhabitable condition of the room. Try calling the frontdesk...They hung up on us 6 times before we'd had enough.Deplorable.

Review 62:Nothing.

Review 63:Too many spiders in the room, i asked to be switched to a 1st floor room and was told none were available when housekeeping said otherwise, later i was told ppl were complaining bc of my kids. I found that it was cheaper online so i began booking that way, one morning that i went in i was asked not to book it online bc they have to pay a high percentage, i told the lady that was cheaper for me

Review 64:The room had a smell. The flour in front of the shower was rotten and getting ready to collapse.

Review 65:I liked the Wi-Fi. I liked that it was super convenient to my work. The guy that checked me in was very pleasant.

Review 66:No iron board, not even a small one. Suggested that I iron on the desk so I asked for a spare sheet and did not receive the next day. I gave up on ironing. A little more attention to the lingering mold in bathroom would make it better for sure.

Review 67:Value, price. Recent refresh of bathroom fixtures, sink toilet, tile on floor and shower.

Review 68:Neighbors were loud, yelling, screaming and swearing late into the night. We checked out about 5 minutes to 9am. No breakfast available, but we may not have wanted to eat it anyway-not an appetizing setting.

Review 69:It was available and comfortable.

Review 70:poor neighborhood and had a lot of trouble understanding the woman's Indian accent until the man came in to help us.

Review 71:The refrigerator had a separate freezer so we could re freeze our ice packs.for the next day. We put 5 ice packs in there. The room smelled clean not like some worn out motel.

Review 72:I initially had to book a smoking room because that's all they had and when I arrived they did allow me to change because the smoking room was too nasty. It did cost me an additional $20. I was told by the front desk person that the parking was first come first serve and then you would have to park on the street. I had read reviews before leaving and ended up buying a can of Lysol and sprayed everything before using. The breakfast is a 6oz cup of coffee and prepackaged pastry - that's it! The owners appeared not to be interested in customer service and pleasing their patrons which is sad in this type of business. The place was definitely a "budget inn" it needs new everything! My daughter in law's bare feet were black after walking in the room on the carpet - gross.

Review 73:When we returned after the first night the room was cleaned, fresh towels, and smelled clean. The shower was hot. It is about 15 minutes from Stanford children's hospital and across the street from a Target.

Review 74:Had to change first toom because of plumbing problem. But, I got a bigger room and second one was okay.

Review 75:Rooms clean and adequate size; Price was lowest I could find in area

Review 76:The water took forever to get hot, the toilet clogged on us, bathroom ceiling had a hole in it, and there was a lot of traffic from what seemed to be people living there.

Review 77:The night went quickly. Small fridge and microwave in room

Review 78:CCV code of credit card was required for making the reservation for this motel. Although we reserved for only 1 night, a couple of hours later but before our arrival an amount more than 5 times higher was charged to my card and I was alerted by my credit card company. Upon our arrival and check in, I informed the front desk staff about this, the front desk staff appologized for this and blamed it on other staff but still requested me to sign the slip for the same ridiculous high amount, which I refused, the front desk staff then credited the enormous overcharge and gave me the slip as prove upon which i signed both slips and made a photo of it. Later on my CC account statements I saw that the enormous amount was actually debited aswell as the correction credited. Lesson and action for me; never make a hotel reservation anymore that requires also the ccv code to be filled out on the booking site. My credit card need and will be renewed soon for security sake because of this.

Review 79:The TV was cable and difficult to figure out. There was mold in the bathroom shower and a moldy spot in the bathroom ceiling where it had leaked from above and the plaster was thinking about falling down on that spot. There was years of dirt in places like the top of the light switches and the tops of the floor tile that went around the edges in the bathroom. The bathroom sink was plumbed backwards as in hot on the right & the sink stopper didn't work. The bathroom was cold. The towels were few and thin. There was no coffee maker. The free breakfast was a joke. Desk clerks were less than friendly.

Review 80:The location was excellent. They did have free wi-fi, a fridge, a microwave TV. The beds were clean and comfortable. The carpet was clean. The room was "don't make any extra effort clean." Price was affordable. Maids were friendly.

Review 81:The people that work there are old and don't know what they're doing. I went to check in and wanted to make me fill out paperwork that I didn't have to, then this man came out and stated helping me but with a horrible attitude. I would not recommend this place.

Review 82:Poor service. Rooms OK at best. WiFi terrible. Business "center" is just a desk in front room. Breakfast is a joke. A few more dollars you get a lot more from other local motels.

Review 83:Not much. Nothing stands out to like.

Review 84:Air conditioner took a long time to cool the room down. Sound like the compressor was going bad.

Review 85:Value and location to Stanford University Medical Center.

Review 86:The bed was horrible and the traffic noise was err.the parking lot was way to small and had a hard time finding a parking spot in the lot. The bathroom base boards were very dirty, the inside of the door was very dirty had splashes of some kind of drink all over it. T.v. wouldn't stay hooked to the dish, had to keep unplugging and restarting to watch. Refrigerate stunk so bad it was horrible!!

Review 87:The price was fair for the last minute room.

Review 88:I had an employee with me, and thought when registering online that it was a Queen Room with two beds. It should be more clear online that there's only one bed. My employee chose to sleep on the floor... Also saw several roaches.

Review 89:Freezer and refrig in room

Review 90:The room is not like the photo. Everything is much older. The staff threat me bad cause I decided to stay less time (I paid 300$ for 3 nights)

Review 91:The room was ok, clean. The bed was comfortable and I had free wifi and cable tv

Review 92:The door must have been kicked in several times as the entire door jam was full of screws with no interior chain latch. They didn't even bother to clean the windows you had to open them to see out. The King sized bed was collapsed in the center with no head board. The walls had streaks of who knows what under the window and in the bathroom. There was pealing paint and big crack in the floor of the bathroom more specifically the wooden separator between the room and the bathroom. The towels literally looked like a cats scratching post (I'm glad I brought my own). Only one bedside light worked. The carpet should be removed I couldn't even tell you what color it was, Red, Black? Very noisy, from what I noticed it is a place used by trucking companies to house their service employees. I would Avoid room 200. If you street view this location this room is right above the lobby shown with two huge windows overlooking the parking area.

Review 93:The wifi?

Review 94:Exposed wiring, electric cover plates missing, and exessive use of power surge protectors for ample electric usage. Didn't feel very secure or safe. Parking stalls too narrow.

Review 95:TV worked well

Review 96:There was no phone. There was a large piece of furniture in front of the closet making it impossible to open the door. What furniture there was appeared to be nicked and very old. Needless to say I would not stay there again,.

Review 97:Not a whole lot. The sheets were clean.

Review 98:the main switch light inside the room was out the door sticked when we tried to open it, one of the guess had to help us open it, other than that I would rent at the same place.

Review 99:Close to train station, target and restaurants fresh coffee in such short notice the price was great.

Review 100:The room had a strong SMOKE smell which was on bed sheets and everything in room. :-(

Review 101:I loved the HOT water in the tub and the HEAT in room. Having Free WiFi was a plus as well. Dish TV was also a plus.

Review 102:Gang sign, x3, carved on walls in bathroom, light by sink in bathroomdidnt work, light switch as coming into room didnt work. I had to walkacross room in complete darkness to turn bedside light on. Split inceiling from roof leaking. Dirty walls, floor peeling up in bathroom.Chain lock on door that had been broken and screwed back several times,1inch gap at bottom of door. Thin walls hearing everything fromneighbors. Very noisy outside

Review 103:I didn't particularly like to attitude of some of the desk staff, but I attributed it to cultural differences and distrust, and didn't take umbrige.

Review 104:I liked the price and the proximity to my brother's apartment. I also felt it was very comfortable.

Review 105:There were people hanging out on the balcony in front of their rooms late at night. Towels were of very poor quality and I had to cancel the 2nd night and forfeit my payment! Not the place for a woman alone!

Review 106:Bed Linen was torn. Staff not helpful at all everything in the room broken no drawers in the bed side. No hangers to hang the clothes. No breakfast ( coffee and donut ) is not continental breakfast. Noisy at night . No security strange people knocked the door when my wife alone claiming another women name. I moved to another hotel , cause I couldn't stand all of the above. It is a shame to have this facility in your portofolio.

Review 107:Nothing at ALL

Review 108:The staff are super rude. We woke up in the middle of the night to itchy bites from bedbugs that we found under the sheets. We tried to get the staff to help us but the office door was locked and nobody was answering when we rang the doorbell. We finally got their attention at 6am. They gave us another room which was stupid because they risked transferring the bedbugs into another room but we didn't care. We were exhausted and just wanted to sleep on a clean bed. Upon our checkout, I asked for a refund because my boyfriend has large swollen bites all over his back from the bedbugs. The staff was very hostile towards us and defensive. All we wanted was our money back. We had pictures of the bedbugs and even caught some in a cup that we left in the room in case they didn't believe us. But the bites should have been enough proof. After much yelling, we got our refund.

Review 109:Good price for location.

Review 110:Discovered, too late, the light switch I thought was broken actuallyturned off the fridge and microwave. Body hair in shower told me not totrust how well room was cleaned. Asked for quiet room and was placednext to soda machine. Don't look too closely at paint etc. inbathroom. Much of my disappointment is related to cost. If $50-$60,I'd say oh well. At $100...I expect better.

Review 111:Convenient to my Chair Massage Job. Desk person friendly. Good bed.Helpful stores across the (noisy) street.

Review 112:they said we would get a continental breakfast and the office light was not on at 7 a.m. so we just left for work, some coffee would have been nice.

Review 113:It was quiet at night, our room was clean when we got back from work, the parking lot had cameras which made me feel safe about our work truck.

Review 114:Room was horrible and smelled like an ash tray. The only room left was a smoking room so I took it. Worst room I've stayed in for a while.... Also the breakfast sucked.

Review 115:Decent price for the area

Review 116:Few outlets for phone or computer charging. Only given one small sliver of soap. Microwave did not work (found that out after I bought the food). Looked like pubic hairs on sheets and pillowcases.

Review 117:spacious. Fairly quiet.

Review 118:Very dirty. The walls were dirty, there was dust in the corners. The bed seemed old and very used. The towels were small and sparse. The room slanted, the balcony slanted. Luckily there were a lot of construction workers on site.

Review 119:The rooms were full of construction workers who were really nice. The manager of the hotel was extremely nice also. I felt mostly safe. I'm pretty sure an earthquake would've done the 2nd floor in.

Review 120:They claim to include breakfast on booking website, but it s next to nothing. a coffee machine and some cookies. Not comparable to Days Inn or Travel Lodge, etc. So, it is better to take breakfast off the commercial.

Review 121:I like the location which is near shopping plaza, price is fair.

Review 122:Unfortunately, the light bulbs didn't work, except for 1 in the corner, so room very dark!

Review 123:I liked room #200 I like it because it is very nice and large!

Review 124:There are expensive hotels, there are inexpensive hotels and then there are cheap hotels. This one is VERY cheap. There's no one single flaw, but lots and lots of small annoyances: - Curtains can't be pulled tight enough to block the light from street lamps across the courtyard. - A mirror is strategically placed to reflect the light from outside into your eyes. - Shower walls are a bit grimy. - The complimentary soap/shampoo are so cheap, that it makes sense to go out and buy something else even in the middle of the night. - No soundproofing to speak of, so you can enjoy screaming babies from a room downstairs. - Internet connection is flaky. - There's no coffee maker or any kind of complimentary water. - The room where I lived had a musty smell. So I'd advise you to pay a little bit more and get a better hotel. Lots of them nearby.

Review 125:Well, the price is somewhat lower than in the hotels nearby. But not that much lower. Location is also not that bad and there are several shopping malls just across the road.

Review 126:If you arrive anytime after around 7-8 PM there will be NO parking spots left and you will have to park across the street unauthorized in the strip mall lot. This was the case EVERY night during my 4-day stay. pillow cases are left in room, but not on pillows. you have to put them on yourself! This was not an accident, because it was the case every. bathroom counters, room paint, beds, lighting, and shower are WAY out of date and desperately need to be remodeled. I felt gritty/dirty in the bed. Even though the owner was friendly, I wouldn't stay here again.

Review 127:the owner gave a solid effort to help find parking for my work truck and ultimately let me block his front entry way which was "red-curb", but said it would be fine also cheaper than most hotels you will find in the area

Review 128:Refrigerator was off therefore it was hot to put a drink or any bottle inside. Mattress was too soft; not firm bed and noisy.

Review 129:It was available and within Redwood City limit. It was clean.

Review 130:Room was 88 degrees at 9:15 pm when I checked in and took forever to cool down. Looked like some one had bled all over the carpet. Wall socket with no plate over it. Nothing in the room matched. Old and dated.

Review 131:Hotel was not in a nice part of town. No blow dryer available - not even at front office. Went to my meeting with wet hair. No iron or iron board. I was overcharged $1 for copies and made to feel like I was trying to rip off the the hotel. Pretty insulting for a professional educator! :(

Review 132:Close location to Stanford University, and to restaurants. Bed and pillows were comfortable.

Review 133:Doesn't feel very safe, door locks need updating. I reserved a room for 4, only had 2 towels. Shower nozzle was flimsy.

Review 134:Easy to reserve the room. Clean room. Close to many food and shopping options.

Review 135:Some of the lights did not work. Parking was somewhat limited. Always need more towels!!

Review 136:The rooms were spacious and clean. The location is close to San Francisco and some towns south of the city that are nice to visit. It's walking distance for shopping and cafes. Really can't beat it for the price!

Review 137:Wish curtains would stay closed a little better and a coffee maker in the room would be nice other than that it is great

Review 138:The family that runs the business are very kind and helpful always on top of things. Thank you
