Reviews for Swiss Holiday Lodge

Review 1:The gentleman I spoke to at he front desk was a complete pleasure to speak with upon our arrival. My family came with me to stay while I had a Discogram and CT scan done at Mercy Medical. The staff was very generous to allow my family to stay until 12:00 noon in the room, while they waited for the procedure to finish.

Review 2:Not a bad a experience, but we thought it was closer to town and should have looked a little closer to the map. But it was very convenient to the freeway. We left one night early and was given a 50% refund. I think it should have been more.

Review 3:It was clean, tidy, and quiet with a nice view from both front and rear windows.

Review 4:The room is warm and comfortable. The scenes are very beautiful! Breakfast is simply but very good! A restaurant is very delicious near the hotel, about 5 minutes walk.

Review 5:Walls are thin-we had adjoining room and could hear everything-maybe change to solid core doors? Outdated, could use some simple changes to improve, but overhaul at some point to stay up to date and competitive.

Review 6:Staff were incredible.

Review 7:Walls are thin. Could hear neighbors.

Review 8:The location was perfect. It was clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. Very casual and non intrusive. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 9:The receptionist girl try to over charge us regardless of reservation price and lied that for our price they don't have rooms available (when our car was the only one in the parking lot). And when confronted after over charging blamed it on someone having similar last name on reservation?? when last name is foreign and its hard to find it even in origin country. And all of a sudden rooms became available. Price guaranteed is price guaranteed, right?

Review 10:Limited places to sit and eat breakfast, if other guests were present.

Review 11:Liked the breakfast! Patricia was very gracious and friendly, she did a great job.

Review 12:Not a complaint as such, but there should be a breakfast dining area with tables and chairs. As it was, breakfast was served on tables in reception and you sat at a lounge with no table to put your coffee. A bit more than a walk out of the city centre.

Review 13:View of the mountain, shower with good water pressure, decent breakfast.

Review 14:Room was clean, but decor a bit funky. Needs a "real" breakfast room, not just folding tables at reception at breakfast time. I might suggest ditching those old sofas and put in a breakfast counter, tables and chairs it's place

Review 15:Staff was nice. Very courteous

Review 16:could use some up-grades for drapes, blankets and flooring.

Review 17:Quiet, convenient to interstate, nice people, good options for quick breakfast. Had an excellent mattress!

Review 18:A little crowded for breakfast but the weather was nice enough to eat outside

Review 19:Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was great. Hot tub and pool were great. Breakfast the next morning g was one of the best I have had.

Review 20:As a solo traveler I felt safe. Staff was pleasant. They've done a lot with a pretty old place. Towels were soft and shower was good as was the bed and pillows.

Review 21:Smoking guest sat just outside and the smoke drifted right upstairs. A table & chairs across the driveway for smoking guests would be good for all.

Review 22:People, bed, cleanliness and jacuzzi were good.

Review 23:The bed was not very comfortable, and the plastic under the mattress pad was noisy.

Review 24:The location is great, and the large shady lawn with picnic tables and hammocks is super nice!

Review 25:Not bad.....just some things need to be updated. Curtains holey and stained and slight odor from pets or smoke. Heating/cooling units appeared to be falling out of the wall.

Review 26:The people were nice. The bed was very comfortable. When I requested a downstairs room rather than the one they had us in, there was no problem getting my request.

Review 27:Room was very crowded. Too many beds. Once king would have made it better. A little dog barked for at least an hour during the night.

Review 28:The owners were wonderful and there were a group of international travelers enjoying each others company and friendly with others. The property is beautiful.

Review 29:Design of headboard sucks. We both bumped the back of our heads on a protruding ridge when we leaned back.

Review 30:The room smelled like fresh air. It had to be the best smelling room I've ever stayed in.

Review 31:I loved the location. It was removed from downtown & very quiet. We had an amazing view of Mt. Shasta from the window in our room! We appreciated the "wilderness" out back with happy hawks & a few jack rabbits!

Review 32:Power failure at 10:30 pm and 1 am. AC went out and clock alarm began blinking when power back on. 10:30 outage caused a commotion among the guests. We were getting up at 3 am to hike Mt Shasta, so NOT a good night's sleep. The front desk seemed unaware of the problem the next afternoon, but I think they did not want to deal with cancellations and people wanting refunds for subsequent nights. We left after one night instead of staying for the second, which was paid for.

Review 33:Very clean room, very comfy bed and bedding. Nice updates for the room: new fixtures, tile shower and floor, new windows, just a nice motel that fit our needs well. It had a microwave and refrig, too, which was very handy. Location was just great for our needs. We did not get a chance to use the pool and hot tub. Breakfast had many tasty choices. Very satisfied customers!!

Review 34:beds make lots of noise when moving around kids made lots of noise our side the door playing till 9pm would get a room far from pool and office next time

Review 35:loved the pool swings hammocks flowers location breakfast foods

Review 36:This motel is not in the main section of town, but overlooks the hills abd moubtains that are to the West. We liked this. You can see the mountains from almost every room and also from the picnic tables on the grassy areas. It has a communal kitchen for self catering abd a nice breakfast that you can eat outside or in your room. They even offered soy milk. Great place for campers who need a place when it rains.

Review 37:Waterproof cover on mattress that squeaked every time you moved.

Review 38:Pet-walking area. Fresh cut fruit at breakfast. New towels. Owner trying to update facility.

Review 39:Beds were short, am normal sized male but found my feet hanging off end of the bed. Rooms are small so not sure how they can get longer beds in there unless they turn them sideways, get only one bed in room instead of having two "full" sized beds. Also restroom is small, could have installed shelving to set toothbrushes and sundries which would have been helpful.

Review 40:Convenient location, reasonably priced and available during high season. Staff was friendly and helpful. New tile work in restrooms was first class workmanship. Upgraded toilet works really well, important that it didn't need to be double flushed to work. Plumbing in general was first class - very important!

Review 41:This is worn out 50-60s motel. Rooms are cramped, analog tv, microwave and fridge unplugged and staked around television. Bedding, furnishings old and worn out. And I paid 100 bucks for 1 night. Got up and left early.

Review 42:Good location about half way between Portland and Reno. Off the freeway aways -get directions.Great view of Mt Shasta.

Review 43:I paid $280 + for 2 nights. The room was worth about $70.00 a night. Way over priced. I feel taken advantage of.

Review 44:staff-grounds-parking-everything was tidy

Review 45:Room large enough but furniture in room a bit too big so it felt a bit cluttered.

Review 46:Location was handy to get to and from McCloud where we were visiting. Close to freeway but far enough that hardly any traffic noise. Excellent breakfast - fruit, juice, yogurt, boiled egg, cereal, toast. Pleasant staff. Well maintained building. Environmentally conscious. It was hot when we were there but roof must be well insulated because it was bearable so we didn't need to put on air conditioning at night

Review 47:The bed could have been better.

Review 48:Friendly people, a nice pool and hot tub, a good breakfast, and a nicely refurbished room made for a pleasant experience.

Review 49:I would stay here again if I am ever in the area. The pool and jacuzzi were nice. There were also hammocks that you could relax in which was a lovely touch. It was quiet and the view was great.

Review 50:We loved the secluded location! We had the suite and it was awesome! The owners were friendly and the rooms were clean. We had such a great stay here! Thank you!

Review 51:Property was a little dated but staff was working to improve the rooms.

Review 52:Nice clean room and bathrooms. Small but nice pool. Even a family kitchen with BBQ's and picnic tables. Great value for the money.

Review 53:Little noisy as I like windows open and motel is close to hwys.

Review 54:Room size was good, breakfast was very good (ample fresh fruit). Guests were pretty quiet after 10 PM

Review 55:Jacuzzi, a large breakfast included, mini-fridge in our room and a communal kitchen. Friendly owner Abel, they've been making improvements to the motel. Our room had a remodeled bathroom.

Review 56:The stairs and upstairs walkway weren't in the best shape and did not inspire confidence.

Review 57:I loved having the back side of the lodge facing the mountain side. The stars, including the Milky Way were beautiful.

Review 58:The breakfast was served in the registration desk, without any table or chair to eat it properly, at least there were´t any other people when we were there so we sat in the sofas, but I think is what you get for the money you pay

Review 59:The location. The accommodation was simple but clean and confortable

Review 60:I could have stayed a few more days.

Review 61:The proprietors were excellent. Friendly. The rooms were clean. The Wifi was great. The breakfast was outstanding and plentiful. The location was beautiful. The pool was heated and clean, and the hot tub was hot. The grounds looked like a golf course. I met people there who return to this hotel year after year. I was very pleased.

Review 62:Nothing of any concern. The building does show its age in places but not a problem.

Review 63:This place was exceptionally clean and tidy and although we did not get to use the pool and picnic areas they were all there. Kitchen facilities in the room were the normal motel standard but having a full shared kitchen available meant you could prepare a fuller meal if you did not want to eat out. The breakfast choice was brilliant.

Review 64:I loved it all. My friend thought the rooms could use more sound insulation, but it wasn't too bad. Nothing really disturbing

Review 65:Clean, free wi-fi, good breakfast, pool, magical view of Shasta, microwave and fridge in the room, charging station by the beds. Everything was so well thought out.

Review 66:Dusk brought too many insects and if you opened your door to go outside or inside, they flew right into your room. Rooms and bathrooms were too small. Hardly any space for children to move around.

Review 67:Friendly staff. Very helpful with information on site seeing and the area. Good breakfast. Fresh fruits were available. Bagels and bread and cereal also available for breakfast. Nothing hot though.

Review 68:$15 service charge for each dog is excessive. We have 2 dogs so theextra $30 charge makes this hotel less competitive in terms of price

Review 69:Clean and reasonably updated for an older property

Review 70:Didn't remember it was two story so had to take 2nd story room. Stairs steep and hard to do for older ladies. Person at desk said "you can request ground floor in booking process but didn't help on this visit"

Review 71:Had refrigerator and microwave and WiFi worked well.

Review 72:It would have been nice to have outdoor hot tub/jacuzzi to enjoy the magnificent evening skies while soaking and relaxing.

Review 73:Warm and sincere reception upon arrival from Trish who was most interested in ensuring a comfortable stay. I was a little concerned about how highway noise, which ended up being a non issue in the end. View of Mt. Shasta from the room, grassy area out front to enjoy, location just outside of town.

Review 74:On April 24 I checked in at 1:22 PM and did not move into the room, I just received the key, had a look around and as there was no dining facilities nearby received directions on how to find restaurants in the town of Mount Shasta. My wife and I ate in a small restaurant and she became unwell and I had to get back on the road . I went back to the front desk and explained my circumstance and returned the key at 3 PM.. The lady contacted the owner by telephone who stated because it was after 11 Am he would not return any money. Your booking agency states clearly these bookings can be cancelled. I travel in business and never have been treated so harshly by any hotel or motel operator . What has 11 AM got to do with it ? Is that web site hospitality ? We never even took our luggage into the room . Perhaps your company should be more concerned with the integrity of the hotel operators on your web site. Yours truly Colin MacLennan Vancouver BC Canada

Review 75:Breakfast included was great, but minimal.

Review 76:The staff was friendly and helpful. Traveling with two LARGE dogs. We liked that it was away from main town. Lots of grass area in front for dogs to walk. Pizza delivery was great! Rooms are clean, rustic, small. But it's a clean, rustic, small Swiss lodge

Review 77:there wasn't any restaurant near as a late travelers we were starving so we have to go like three miles further to find something to eat.

Review 78:I like the lady's attitude, even that we arrive late she welcomed us with a great smile. The view and the location were great. The whole room was clean and all the appliances work properly. Free HBO If I comeback to Shasta this hotel would be my 1st choice

Review 79:The place is really a dump, though not without its charm. It's falling apart, the jacuzzi wasn't working, the morning breakfast is super minimal, but the worst is the walls are paper thin so you're at the mercy of the guests around you--I was treated to the neighbors' conversation until 3 am.

Review 80:The staff of one was super friendly.

Review 81:Bathroom is small (but it does look newly remodeled) and there are no amenities like hair dryer, etc. The walls are a bit thin - I heard the guest in the other room sneeze.

Review 82:The room was just the right size - it was just myself and my dog traveling. It was CLEAN - no musty smell or stale cigarettes. The location was amazing - a view of Mt. Shasta right out the back window of the room. They accommodated me last minute when I booked a third night.

Review 83:The shower was dark without enough room to shave legs. No hair dryer which has become a ubiquitous and expected accessory. Not enough outlets. Had to unplug the micro to plug in the coffee!

Review 84:Quaint room with recently remodeled bath.

Review 85:It was New Years Eve, so at midnight my group of friends yelled "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" And then we got a phone call saying if we didn't stay quite the cops would be called and escort us from the building. I think after paying $260 we should've been able to express our happiness since the entire night we had been quite and polite.

Review 86:I liked how warm the room got since there was snow out behind the building.

Review 87:You could hear guests next door, when they were talking (could not hear the conversation, but definitely knew they were talking & laughing.

Review 88:It was comfortable, the family that owns the motel were very nice people.

Review 89:The Motel was nice, it had everything we needed for a 2 day stay for my daughters birthday. The room was nice, the bathroom was excellent and clean and the extras at the Continental Breakfast, like fresh fruit was appreciated.

Review 90:We were a little surprised how far (some 40 miles) we were from the Shasta Caverns. But, that was our planning, not the Motel. You are right near Mt. Shasta City, so that was a positive consolation.

Review 91:We were only there for an overnight stay. Rooms were very clean and comfortable with available Wi-Fi. Morning Continental Breakfast was well supplied surrounded by very comfortable couches.

Review 92:If you want to hike and know shasta and the area this is a great place to stay. Is located in a central area almost close to most of the trails. I would come back anytime. The place seem old but is very quiet at night. Oh and the bed is much better than motel 6. I recommend the place of you are going to hike and come late to sleep.

Review 93:it is just a cheap hotel. nothing fancy but the staff was very nice and the free breakfast was a very nice spread. It is a great deal for the area.

Review 94:It is close to the 89 which is a gorgeous drive and lots of forest

Review 95:This is overpriced, there are much better places for the ~$100 we payed a night. Totally outdated furniture, etc.

Review 96:nice view of Mt. Shasta through the back windows, easy to get to..

Review 97:I liked everything.

Review 98:Responsiveness of staff. Grounds and accommodation very clean. I loved having a very healthly and delicious breakfast and great coffee out in the fresh air each morning with other guests if you so chose.

Review 99:People upstairs had kids and they were very loud moving about in the room. Not sure why but the Handicap space was blocked.

Review 100:Nice view, rooms are nice! Bathroom decorated nice and was handicap friendly!! Very nice continental breakfast!! Location is great and quiet off the highway. Great value for the price.

Review 101:We arrived late in the afternoon. My 19 year old daughter swam in the pool in the early evening. She was sick with diarrhea most of the night. We had planned to leave early the next morning and hike in the local area. My daughter was still sick and we had to cancel the hike. We stayed in our rooms almost until check out time to let her rest. We suspect the cause was the pool.

Review 102:The bed was a little too soft for my liking, and the internet was a bitslow but these were minor concerns

Review 103:The continental breakfast was super - with fresh melon grapesbananas and the best organic whole grain bread yogurt Danishcereal, bagels hardboiled eggs coffee, tea,hot chocolate. It is wellmaintained and the owners are accommodating, great hot tub and poolwith a view of Mt. Shasta, It is very reasonably priced and a lot ofamenities for the money

Review 104:Nothing to report.

Review 105:The pool and leisure area. Quiet location and good breakfast. Wayside Inn across the road excellent for dinner with warm hospitality

Review 106:Only thing was no cell service but that has nothing to do with facility & made good internet service even more important!!

Review 107:The internet worked great. The room was large enough for 1 possibly 2 people! The shower was granite & spray good! The breakfast was standard continental fare with fresh fruit! Staff was very friendly! As a solo woman felt comfortable and safe at this facility!

Review 108:The staff were courteous, well informed, and always pleasant. The facilities were comfortable and well kept. The location was close enough to the city but far enough to be quiet. We will be back.

Review 109:Bed was the hardest we' be ever been on. Slept in chair. Room was so tight with furniture not enough room to walk between bed and wall. Small bath room. Not clean, found penny's in shower. You could feel dirt and gravel when walking on carpet.

Review 110:Ice machine wonderful

Review 111:Linens and blinds were old. Updated items would make a HUGE difference.

Review 112:Kitschy and cute, this motel is very clean for an older property. The rooms are dated but comfortable. Bathrooms are remodeled very nicely and have plenty of fluffy towels and washcloths. Really enjoyed the well maintained grounds: large grassy area with picnic tables, hammocks strung between trees and a kids play structure. Covered Jacuzzi was wonderful after an 11 hour day of driving (pool is heated too). We were pleasantly surprised by the Continental breakfast in the lobby: cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, assorted breads, boiled eggs, coffee etc. It felt like a family member had put on this nice breakfast for us-- a great send off for our road trip! Will definitely stay here again.

Review 113:The owner was so friendly and shared a lot of tourist information with us. Breakfast is good. I will recommend it to any friends who travel to the area.

Review 114:The rooms were a bit dated the light cords were black taped together. Bathroom light was an outdoor light

Review 115:Great location liked the grass area swings for kids

Review 116:hhmmmmmm can't think of a thing.

Review 117:The gentle environment. Distance from town. Great mountain air. Personal interactions with the wonderful family that runs it. AND their breakfast is real food, healthy, good bread, real peanut butter, tasty fresh whole foods. I travel a lot and a good free breakfast is very very rare. Thanks Thanks.

Review 118:While the furnishing were old, they seems clean, but unless we kept the fan blowing the room had a bad oder, like old sweat and a stale gym. ? maybe from the carpet.

Review 119:No complaints.

Review 120:Beautiful grass space the kids threw the ball around on, the pool and grounds were amazingly clean, its exactly what we expected, the price was fair and service friendly.

Review 121:The bathroom was tiny, the closet was non-existent, there was a metal clothing rack in its place. The room was worn, although the bathroom was modernized. The room was okay for one night, but not a long stay.

Review 122:The breakfast was one of the best we've seen. The bed was comfortable. Clean.

Review 123:The absolute WORST beds I have ever slept on in a hotel/motel in all my 42 years...And I have travelled alot! They were soo hard you actually woke up injured. Freakin' Costco mattress toppers are like a hundred bucks.

Review 124:A little noisy, but it was 4th of July weekend, so not unexpected

Review 125:Very clean Family friendly with a communal full sized kitchen with freezer, fridge and stove plus a huge ice maker Immaculate grounds with bbqs and play equipment for kids. Well lit and felt completely safe

Review 126:The owner/ manager at the hotel was very accommodating .The room is clean and bathroom is nice. It's a little small and odd shape but that doesn't bother us at all. The outside area is great. Huge grass area with swings, benches and grills. Very very dog friendly.

Review 127:Space is limited for the continental breakfast that is provided.

Review 128:It was quiet, well maintained, remodeled bathroom, new windows and when the jacuzzi wasn't hot enough, no problem they took care of it.

Review 129:Cold bathroom floor

Review 130:Location,good coffee.
