Reviews for Hotel les Genets
Review 1:Steep internal steps a bit difficult perhaps for people with mobility issues. But it adds to the character.
Review 2:Breakfast exceptional. Staff are super helpful. View from hotel stunning.
Review 3:Stayed here for a week. Made to feel welcome by the owners. Their spoken English was far better than our very limited French. There is nearby on-road parking: we never had an issue with parking. Access to the bedrooms is via the stairs i.e. there is no lift. Hotel has stunning views over the local town. Some good XC mountain bike trails accessible by rinding direct from the hotel, and plenty of local walks (though many involve significant gradients). La Roche town was bustling, with plenty of eating places.
Review 4:We stayed here on a cycling trip. The bikes were stored securely in the wine cellar & access was no problem at any time. The hotel is run by a very helpful and friendly couple. Excellent breakfast and excellent location on a steep hill overlooking La Roche,
Review 5:The floors are creaky in some rooms. Showers are variable, some are mounted low with no curtains. Two single beds pushed together can still move apart in the night.
Review 6:Patrick welcomed us despite being late. We inquired about restaurants in town but he offered to feed us, dinner was fabulous and so too was the breakfast. The views are to die for, the town is beautiful, the whole area demands more exploring.
Review 7:None
Review 8:A comfortable family run hotel. We arrived late after giving warning by telephone and were received warmly and provided with a delicious evening meal. The hotel is perched above the river with lovely views of river and town and is very quiet. La Roche is an interesting town with a castle and there are fine walks all round.
Review 9:WiFi connection is weak and slow. Shower water becomes cold when other guests turn on hot water. Bring your own pillow!
Review 10:Lots of seating area with great views, and also light for reading. Friendly staff, you can have a nice dinner if you want, and breakfast is simple but nice.
Review 11:Nice and cozy, really great decorations. A very nice view of the valley and the entire town. Very good room, strong wi-fi signal. Breakfast was really nice, I was expecting a "french" style breakfast but it was much much better than that. The hotel owner was great, a really nice man. Great town as well, nice to walk around and visit, great restaurants too.
Review 12:Great views over the town and river from our bedroom window, the dining room and the seating area outside. Lovely evening meal. Basic and clean rooms.
Review 13:There was nothing negative about the experience.
Review 14:Beautiful location. Outstanding customer service. Fantastic cuisine/dining experience at the hotel. Chef is excellent.
Review 15:Friendly family owned hotel
Review 16:The decor was dated and dark
Review 17:Friendliness and efficiency of staff
Review 18:The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly.
Review 19:The room, the views, the food and the owners.
Review 20:superb views of La Roche from the dining area
Review 21:Very good views over the river in La Roche. Perfect for a break away from the city. Friendly staff. A place with character.
Review 22:If you want to stay more than a couple of days make sure you get one of the larger rooms. No place for fridge or water boiler in our room.
Review 23:Very nice location and view. Good breakfast and dinner. Friendly and helpful owner. Hiking trails right outside the front door. Overall a very cosy hotel in a cosy town.
Review 24:NONE
Review 25:A little "GEM" on the hill with stunning view toward village and the river down the valley. Me and my partner were staying at room 2 which is very cozy and clean. The bathroom is HUGE and very comfortable. WIFI connection is excellent in the room. Breakfast is really good and very generous amount for 2. The restaurant is very homely decorated with some old collections items which reflected the old charms of the village setting. We were truly enjoying our stay in this hotel and hope to come back soon.
Review 26:The very small room still smelled like paint, the staff werent very friendly (particularly the man), and the noise isolation is very bad. I also didnt like having the sower room (though private) down the hll from the bedroom - it's not very pleasant to run down the hall after showering.
Review 27:The hotel has basic facilities and well located near the centre of he village, the breakfast is generous and the coffee is good.the room and bathroom were clean (but the concept of carpet in the toilet is quite gross).
Review 28:Bedroom is a bit small and the bathroom huge. Could have been designed a bit better.
Review 29:Lovely view from the room and the breakfast was pretty good. The town is just a short walk away.
Review 30:The restaurant was closed for two of the three evenings we were there but we would not have eaten there more than once because it was expensive and we would already have chosen the dishes that we particularly like.
Review 31:The room, the view, the patron and his wife, out of town, parking. Not a "designer" hotel, almost "boutique", and a most relaxing place to stay. The furnishings and equipment in the rooms were all that one wants. If we go to that area again, Les Genets will be our hotel.
Review 32:The hotel is set on an elevated position slightly outside the town with wonderful views. It is a short hill walk down into the attractive town situated on the river. The owners and staff, who kindly spoke English, made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed our stay in this pleasant hotel with comfortable beds.
Review 33:The position of the hotel was great. The rooms were not the largest but very clean and lovely views. The breakfast was very good and the staff very accommodating. Evening meal was good but expensive. We were there for 3 nights with friends on a motorbiking long weekend and found the hotel perfect for position as we could easily walk to the town or sit and have a quiet drink overlooking a beautiful panorama. We will definitely return as a lovely experience.
Review 34:Rooms lacked sufficient power points - bring a power board if you wantto charge laptops, mobile phones, shavers and electric toothbrushes atthe same time.
Review 35:Excellent location and fantastic view. The husband & wife owner werevery friendly and professional. The restaurant had an excellent menu andthe food was exceptional. Breakfast was fantastic! I will definitely becoming back here!
Review 36:We received a wonderful reception from the owner .The location is excellent...so is the decor and cuisine.A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Watts Bromley ,kent,England
Review 37:Stayed two nights due to close proximity to Battle of the Bulge museums and sites. The hotel itself was charming. Our bathroom was large and I'm sure we had the best views of the entire hotel from our window on the third floor! We arrived near midnight our first night due to various circumstances and we called to let the owners know we would be extremely late. Despite being obviously inconvenienced, the owner greeted us warmly. A very nice experience all around!
Review 38:We were very satisfied with the hotel, with the delicious dinners and breakfasts we had there. The view is incredible from the room, from the restaurant. It is within easy reach of walking areas and by car interesting villages are closeby. A very good choice to stay in Ardennen.
Review 39:Superb location above the village/river/park. Close to castle and interesting local walks. Best of all was dinner in the evening and the service we received.
Review 40:The stuffed dog at the entrance was creepy to me.
Review 41:The owners were very helpful and kind and could speak better Englishthan we could French and the view was wonderful.
Review 42:Two things are best about the hotel- First is the location. Wonderful views up and down the valley. The second is the food which was excellent. We had half-board, this was a good choice. Family who ran it were very friendly. Area is one of great natural beauty with excellent, well marked walks. Only slight disadvantage was that our room was small - compensated for by the lovely lounge with views. Highly recommended if you want a small, intimate, friendly hotel with good food. ADSW, London We will return next year for a longer staqy.
Review 43:However for us it was perfect, this hotel does not appropriatefor people with disabilities because of a lot of stairs andwithout elevator.
Review 44:We came to La Roche en Ardennes for one weekend (04-05.08.12) - formedieval festival in the La Roche Castle. The Genets Hotel is locatedabout 700 meter from the castle. The staff was friendly and englishspeaking (what is very important in this french speaking area ofBelgium). It is small and intimate hotel in quiet place on slope of themountain (not in the center of the city, but very close - 5 minuteswalking down). Nice design of restaurant, view to the river and tastybreakfast. The panorama views from the room was perfect.
Review 45:The hotel was owner run and we received a warm welcome. The food was superb although as it was freshly cooked it took some time. Overall the hotel is in a lovely positions and is good value for money
Review 46:We were made very welcome with English spoken. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were excellent, with perfectly boiled eggs, and lots more. There was plenty of safe parking on the road outside the hotel. The evening meals added an extra dimension to the holiday.
Review 47:food & staff
Review 48:The bed was not rly good and there was an annoying ticking sound. Maybe from the heating system.
Review 49:The food was good. And very friendly people.
