Reviews for Fidanka Hotel
Review 1:The staff is always warm and helpful with smiling faces. The hotel is really good with the view, the design, the unique furniture and the location. It is located at a 4-5 minutes walking distance from the beach park and can be reached within 5 minutes from the bus terminal by car.
Review 2:We had a wonderful time at Hotel Fidanka. We arrived very late, about 1:30 am and the staff waited up for us and got us quickly to our room to settle in. The first morning I informed them that the drain in our shower was just a little backed up, they addressed my request immediately and was fine the rest of our stay. The hotel rooms were clean and rustic, just like they show in the photos. And the views. . . well the view was just spectacular. I couldn't believe our room had the view we did. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When you arrive you will the Hotel is a bit outside of town, we did walk it the first day and took us about 15 min to walk. Any time we wanted to take a taxi in to town they were happy to call and arrange for a pick up. The taxi ride was also very affordable about 10 lira which was about $3 USD. We spent most of our times exploring nearby beaches (Patara is about 20 min away and Kaputas is about a 10 min drive). The hotel staff arranged for taxis to take us to beaches each day we asked and arranged the pickup & drop off times for us so there was nothing for us to manage. We also and took a boat trip to Kas in which the hotel also organized for us. The breakfast each morning was fresh and and just what you would expect for a continental breakfast. I cant say enough wonderful things about this hotel. If we are ever lucky enough to make it back to Kalkan, we will be staying at Hotel Fidanka. I miss it already!!
Review 3:Nothing :)
Review 4:It was one of the best boutique hotels we stayed! Very nicely decorated hotel and rooms. If you like natural wood and flowers/plants this the place for you...
Review 5:Seeing a dear friend . Hotel in itself is quite unique and for anyone wanting just peace quite and to spend the whole day just relaxing and letting the world go by without a care in the world then this hotel is the one for you . The care and attention that went into this Hotel is very special the owner clearly wanted to bring a little bit of old Turkey back and he certainly achievedthat . Would I recommend the Hotel yes I would for that special something . If its nightlife with lots of partying and music you are looking for then no . Neither the hotel or for that matter is Kalkan for you.
Review 6:Food was great but a bit pricey for what it was Small pool area
Review 7:Balcony overlooking the bay was lovely to watch the sunset every night. Rooms were modest but clean and spacious
Review 8:One of the staff members stood out from the rest because of being particularly unfriendly, in several occasions. A strange anomaly for an otherwise perfect place.
Review 9:Almost everything
Review 10:No welcome. Way overpriced for living essentially in a tree house. Bugs. No way to lock door. Door left wide open after staff cleaned. Uncomfortable pillow-type bed.
Review 11:The view is the only thing good about this hotel.
Review 12:The walk down to the sea and beach resorts is worth it but the road is rather steep (especially on the way back uphill). Need a bit of stamina.
Review 13:The Fidanka is a unique hotel in a magical location. Relaxed and tranquil, crammed with colourful, traditional furniture and decorations, overlooking the Med and Kalkan harbour, overflowing with bougainvillea and jasmine, it is a joy for the senses - for the mind, body and soul. It is tempting to stay around the hotel all day - gorgeous pool and comfortable sun loungers - order cocktails from the bar and have mezzes in the restaurant for lunch. The service is friendly, efficient, yet discrete. If you do want to venture out, there are two beach resorts as short walk away, and a 5 minute boat ride will take you into Kalkan itself (not walkable from the hotel), where there are shops and restaurant galore (try the Blue Marlin by the harbour/taxi rank). I would recommend this hotel in September for a romantic week or two. Very special and a pure delight.
Review 14:If only real coffee, fresh breads and tasty food options which Turkey is famous for had featured on the breakfast menu. A few tweaks on the food service detail which is excellent elsewhere in our experience would easily make this a stellar 5/5 rather than the 4/5.
Review 15:Quirky collection of furniture, fabrics and wall hangings stylishly put together to make a perfectly comfortable and relaxed place to stay. In all loved the quiet oasis that is Fidanka Hotel. The Turquoise Coast could do with one in every coastal town - rustic luxe with treehouse style rooms basting the best views of the bay.
Review 16:We loved the fantastic views looking across the bay to the town, the hotel was adorned with lushous planting around the pool, through the walk ways and climbing up trellises. The breakfast was terrific and the staff we're very welcoming.
Review 17:Nothing bad, but it would have been better if there was a clear point of contact. There are 4 main members of staff who are very nice, but they have quite a low level of English, so it's not easy to ask for advice. It's also not clear who is in charge. Minor issues though.
Review 18:Beautiful place with great views. Especially drinks at sunset by the pool.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:Location is beautiful All the staff were friendly and very helpful Owner was a great source of information Rustic decoration and flowers are stunning as is the view Nice big room
Review 21:Nothing All great
Review 22:Staff so friendly and helpful Amazing food Beautiful building and grounds Opposite amazing beach club for lounging on terraces and lunch Very peaceful and relaxed
Review 23:no mosquito screens. In one room old couch which should be replaced and not just covered. Not possible to book single room
Review 24:very cosy, fantastic view and very helpful hotel manager, he even changed our flat tyre! Rest of staff was very friendly as well but unfortunately due to missing foreign language skills not that helpful. All rooms different and lovely decorated. The rooms on the upper levels are the most beautiful
Review 25:TV didn't work (didn't matter at all to me and didn't ask to get it fixed).
Review 26:I stayed here because I was going to be on my own and didn't want to feel lost in an enormous, soulless hotel. Fidanka was an absolute delight. HUGE gorgeous and characterful room (suite of rooms) with a wonderful view of the bay, all day sun on the terrace with a day bed placed in just the right spot, a great shower, living room and even a walk in wardrobe! Staff were brilliant, food delicious, resident cat and dog great company. Only a five minute stroll down to the best and most glamorous beach club in Kalkan, with a shuttle service into town (to avoid the 25 minute walk)
Review 27:I stayed at this hotel earlier in the year and loved it, hence my return. The hotel was still good but felt a little tired at the end of the season. The owners were not present this time and the head barman was responsible for everything. He did a good job.
Review 28:Garden and pool area. Beautiful planting. Wonderful view of the sea. Bar staff very helpful. Prices for meals and drinks comparable to restaurants. Meals were of a good quality, with a fair choice of dishes. This was my second visit here. We stayed in rooms on the second floor so had a good view of the bay on both occasions.
Review 29:Location - middle of no where, it's not as if it was on a secludedbeach either or leafy surroundings Price - so expensive, I've stayedat hotels costing the same in Turkey and this was way overpricedFacilities - Toilet was just a cornered off section of the room - thewall to section off the toilet didn't even extend all the way sothere was a massive gap at the top next to the bed. So you're lyingin bed and can smell/hear everything in the toilet. Very lovely getaway The aircon didn't cool the place at all - it was barelyfunctioning. The tv was a throw back from 1900's! It was about thesize of a lunch box. We didn't sit home all day watching tv, buthaving it on at night to watch the news or whilst getting ready. Yah...Better places for 510euros for 3 nights. Didn't even check inproperly, our final bill was just scribbled on a piece of paper withsome extra items added onto it which we contested and won. Even when wehad dinner, they didn't bring us a bill but just said they will addit to the final bill. But yes, I would like to know how much the mealwas before we just get a lump sum at the end of our stay!
Review 30:The staff were amazing and really friendly. That's about allBreakfast was really nice
Review 31:The one mile walk into Kalkan town is probably best avoided in the midday heat! There are easily available cabs for about a fiver or a water taxi at the Beach Club 5 minutes walk away.
Review 32:The relaxed atmosphere - you're on holiday as soon as you arrive. The service was efficient but not obtrusive. The eclectic layout and design coupled with the wealth of beautiful plants and flowers complements an elevated view of the bay. This is a very pleasant spot to spend a some time relaxing.
Review 33:This hotel is beautiful and we both had the most amazing stay here. We completely loved everything about it. The staff were fantastic (including the dog and cat!). Great swimming pool, beautiful rooms and great food. We'd definitely stay here again. Thanks for a fantastic time Fidanka!
Review 34:Beautiful place - amazing and so pretty - flowers and plants everywhere and wonderfully maintained. Staff very friendly. Food and drink served all day from pool bar. Lovely room!
Review 35:There is nothing I don't like about the hotel but just a reminder for those who are not familiar with the area: the hotel does not have a beach of its own, nor do many of the hotels in Kalkan. Not really a problem since there are nice and reasonably priced beach clubs around as well as daily boat tours (highly recommended), all easily accessible, but just something to keep in mind.
Review 36:This is one of my favourite hotels, not just in the area or in Turkey but generally, so we try to spend a few weeks here every summer. It is a charming hotel with lots of character and attention to detail. Both its staff and owners (two of whom are generally at the property) are very helpful and friendly. Also has a good restaurant, which is open not only to hotel guests but also to non residents, subject to availability. Not for those looking for a chain hotel atmosphere but highly recommended for those seeking a unique place.
Review 37:Beautiful hotel and grounds. Very friendly staff. Reasonably priced.
Review 38:very nice staff and beautiful garden..
Review 39:Nothing everything was great
Review 40:Lovely Hotel with a great view and very individual features. Food, service, cleanliness all excellent.
Review 41:It was an awesome place to stay, Staff was very helpful and breakfast is excellent.

Review 60:Everything
Review 61:No vent to toilet/ bathroom Too many cushions on the bed
Review 62:Location and staff friendly Lots of planting
Review 63:Rustic charm
Review 64:The vieuw. The building and the rooms very nice designed and decorated.
Review 65:Really could do with more comfortable beds - very hard!
Review 66:The charm of the pool area and size of room
Review 67:Not enough sun beds. Limited space around pool. Tea and coffee in room not replaced daily.
Review 68:Large comfortable room. Good view.
Review 69:Service was good, but a bit less friendly, more formal than other Turkish hotels we've visited
Review 70:The view, the room, the eclectic decor
Review 71:Beatiful view, cozy, very rustic feel and decor in the rooms. Flowers are amazing!
Review 72:Quirky, eclectic, friendly, fantastic views - something different.
Review 73:Perfect place for a relaxing week away. Quirky and very boutique. Bullent the leading staff member is great - quiet, accommodating, knowledgeable.
Review 74:No top sheets on bed - bit odd. Not enough bedding initially. All rectfied satis.
Review 75:Everything except bedding. Fab feel, setting & quirky deaign. All staff brilliant, flowers, character, library, breakfasts, even wifi. Views terrific, balconies private and tranquil.
Review 76:If i have to find something : wifi didn't work for half day and the owner promised to change an arclamp that was broken, but he didn't. Irrelevant overall
Review 77:It's a little paradise just a couple of km out of Kalkan, if you want to have relax and get out from daily routine for a couple of days, this hotel is what you are searching for. Dinner is also lovely, probably the best i had in one week in Turkey. If I will come back in south Turkey, Fidanka will be my house again
Review 78:No waste bin in the room a little annoying as had to keep finding a plastic bag to use! It would have been useful to know that there were tea making facilities in the room before we took our own kettle with us
Review 79:It was unique - very friendly owner and staff - lovely breakfasts and other meals - rooms were unusual in their decoration
Review 80:There is nothing we disliked. Just a suggestion though, mosquito netscould be useful in the rooms.
Review 81:Fidanka is one of the most pleasant hotels I've ever stayed in. Therooms and common spaces are all decorated with attention to every detailand in a very personal, pleasant and distinctive style. Every corner isa delight to look at. Lush and very well kept plants everywhere, including little citrus or olive trees on the terraces of the rooms.Wonderful owners and staff, all very helpful and friendly. I got sickone evening and Cuneyt Bey, one of the owners even drove back and forthto Kalkan centre later at night to get the doctor and medicine for me. Ihave heard friends speaking very highly of this hotel for a long whilebut did not dare to go, since it does not have a beach of its own, but Ifound out that this was no problem at all. There are two beach clubs andone public beach nearby, the beach clubs (especially Mahal) are veryneat and the entrance fee is a negligible amount (four Euros per persona day), all of which are easily reached by taxi (and the taxi does notcost much either, we paid around three euros for the ride).Alternatively you could walk, though it would be a tough walk, given thesteep hills. Kalkan is all very hilly anyway, and even in a hotel withits own beach facilities, it takes a steep walk down quite a number ofsteps so I would not consider the location of the hotel a drawback.Actually we liked the hotel so much that we booked our next trip in Julyat the same hotel as well, cancelling our reservation in another seasideresort of southern Turkey and we are looking forward to being in Kalkanand staying in Fidanka again.
Review 82:Give us more info in the rooms about things to do in kalkan and around the area
Review 83:beautiful quaint hotel really friendly staff very relaxing, small hotel set into the hills away from the hustle and bustle. superb. absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend
Review 84:Our room was overlooking dining area so less private than some, also a bit gloomy. Mosquitos at night, but no nets, window screens or spray provided.
Review 85:Strong turkish character and lots of personality in design of buildings and room interiors with wooden panelling and characterful old furniture. Lovely mature plants and flowers, birds, lovely view over the sea. Suite rooms big, and spacious private terrace/balcony. Friendly staff.
Review 86:The fidanka and its lovely staff made our stay amazing! Getting in andlistening to jazz by the pool, going up to our room (mimosa) and seeingthe most fantastic view over the bay was just what we wanted. On top ofthat, the fidanka has an excellent restaurant with very very goodcalamari (the best we had along the coast fom Bodrum to Antalya) andkebaps that were way better than the ones in the center of kalkan.Thank you very much to all the staff and a special thank you to Bülentfor being the most helpful barman/waiter/local tip man we foundin Turkey.
