Reviews for Ruean Thai Hotel

Review 1:We found a gecko in the room, which was at first very scary. Later on we understood that in places like Thailand where life is everywhere it's quite hard to keep geckos, bugs and ants away from houses. It was far away from the old town where all the visiting sites are. It's a great idea to rent a scooter from the hotel directly and use it for commuting to the old town. It's also the cheapest way to travel.

Review 2:The place so really nice, so the guests and everything. We loved the room, the vegetation in the inner garden as well as the pool, very very nice!

Review 3:The Music around No safety box A bit noisy room (maybe better upstairs)

Review 4:Very clean and nice place with rabbit around ,many plant and wood forniture Helpful staff

Review 5:There is KTV club besid a road, so there are big noise on night when you go to sleep if your room closed with the road.

Review 6:Maid always kept the smile on their face!

Review 7:relaxing atmosphere including pool. There are certainly less costly places and you do not really the pool and the refined furniture and decoration. But still good

Review 8:Nothing.

Review 9:Super friendly staff, really helpful and in very good english! I felt at home here, after 6 nights. Nice swimmingpool, cosy. Lovely rabbits here too!

Review 10:WiFi was appalling which is an advertised feature. As the WiFi was poor peoples sit around the pool to get it and therefore the room was nosy as next to the pool. Breakfast was poor. Short window for breakfast meant there wasn't enough tables for everyone. Not the best location as a way out of town, however free bikes for use.

Review 11:Staff were friendly and helpful. Accommodation was spacious and clean.

Review 12:The room was a little dark as the curtains were best drawn for privacy from the poo,.

Review 13:Wonderful building with an out standing collection of antiques. A very friendly family feel which made us feel very welcome. Helpful advice enabled us to get the most from our stay. Breakfast was delicious and the resturant was very good and reasonably priced.

Review 14:For the Breakfast all the food was cold (Thai food and the Eggs) and the coffee was Nescafe, machine was broken to make fresh coffee!! Never ask for a T-bone stake this is bake with the Micro wave look like it miss the pan. Price to high for what it is

Review 15:Friendly staff and the food in the restaurant was good when you like to eat Thai food. Swimming pool

Review 16:10-15 minutes walk to the city centre but taxis and tuktuk easily available We loved the place but maybe a bit overpriced: towels could have been newer, doors to the bathrooms not really in line with the standing of the place, ...

Review 17:Superb house Rooms just next to the pool Staff nice and helpful Bar and restaurant of the hotel are excellent Free bicycles to roam the city

Review 18:A little out of the center of town but no problem with the bikes. There is also some distance between the pool and the bar to order drinks. Difficult to get an ip from the wifi

Review 19:Very nice pool with rabbits living around it, good rooms, free bycicles to the center which is a little more than 1km away, and free shuttle to the bus station. Hotel has a very authentic feeling

Review 20:In directe omgeving van het hotel niet veel te doen of te zienl

Review 21:Zeer goed management. Leuk complex met kamers rond het leuke zwembad Vervoer naar de stad door hotel. En dan met busje naar spectaculaire oude stad.

Review 22:The breakfast was modest and the coffee instant.

Review 23:We really enjoyed the fact that the hotel felt as if you were stepping back in time but with all the comforts such as a modern bathroom, pool and wifi. The staff were exceptional also.

Review 24:We found that our room was unfortunately not entirely up to par with the service and beautiful look of the hotel. Shower curtains are too short which result in half of the bathroom getting wet. The curtains do not adequately block out light from outside, making it necessary to move beds and put something against the curtain. All in all, the room was less than we expected for this money. Perhaps the other rooms (we had a corner room on the first floor) are better.

Review 25:This hotel looks nice and the staff also does its best. Rabbits freely walk around the yard, nice! Very good pick up and drop off service, which can take you to the bus terminal and Sukhothai Historical Park.

Review 26:Big abandoned second floor that needed to be used to access the pool, too few lounge chairs available at pool for amount of guests

Review 27:location, size of rooms, great breakfast spread

Review 28:We had a room with wooden shutters which allowed mosquitos into the room. Didn't like having to wear mosquito repellent to bed. Would have preferred a room with the glass windows. Parts of the hotel are in need of repair/maintenance. E.g. pool ladder required repair. +ve maintenance & repairs were being undertaken whilst we were there.

Review 29:The pool area is beautiful. Free use of bicycles. Very Friendly helpful staff. The Thai breakfast - boiled rice (Thai style congee) was our favourite. Nice outdoor restaurant area. Food in restaurant was good. Close to other cafe's. Easy walk to town centre if you didn't want to cycle. Provision of mosquito nets. Aircon in the rooms. Traditional Rustic hotel.

Review 30:Dining room did not reflect the feel of the rest of the hotel as much as I would have liked

Review 31:Hotel has been built using some old timbers that are used as features, giving the place a natural feel.

Review 32:The rooms are old in desperate need of renovation , the bathroom door almost didn't close well , the location is far from restaurants and bars , so its a tuktuk ride away , but i think its the best you can get in Sukhothai .

Review 33:I loved the rabbits owned by the hotel, the staff were helpful and have a good transfer service , the breakfast was just ok.

Review 34:Breakfast was a bit limited Chef got our evening meal wrong two nights - courses didn't arrive we had to chase Some of the staff do not understand English very well but some are very good.

Review 35:Room next to pool and the pool area is lovely and restful. Beautiful surroundings the hotel is like a museum with lovely items all around in show cases - the staff are very helpful and willing - always pleasant The ladies who do the massage are lovely and the massages are very relaxing. We were collected from the bus station by the hotel which was great. Recommend everyone goes on the Sukhothai bike tour it was brilliant. The food in the hotel restaurant was really good for evening meals

Review 36:10 out of 10 for me . . . But it may be too far from center for some people. I had a car.

Review 37:Pool room and food. the resturaunt is great. Just as well as the hotel is well out of town. Staff really were top class for a place this small. All round a great experence.

Review 38:nothing. we liked the place a LOT.

Review 39:We loved everything about this hotel - from the staff, to the free bicycles and maps, to the fabulous East-meets-West breakfast (as well as recommendations from the staff). It really isn't in 'downtown' sukhothai, but the bicycle and scooter rentals made the 'guesthouse strip' area, across the bridge, totally accessible. The pool was awesome, big enough, not crowded. They were very nice about moving us to an uppper floor because the rooms near the pool are a little less quiet.

Review 40:Better improve about the internet connection because it is not strong connection and the breakfast should be warmed all times because it is a bit cold.

Review 41:- the location is closed to the city centre that it is easy to walk. - the hotel staff are friendly and helpful.

Review 42:- bathroom exhaust faces courtyard/pool meaning little privacy - transfer to historic park/airport is pricey - upon checkout I paid with credit card but was forced to pay in home currency not Baht meaning worse forex rate

Review 43:- nice building complex that looks historical from the outside - nice court yard and pool, resort like atmosphere, many interesting collections on display - close to new city - friendly staff with very good English and willingness to help

Review 44:There is nothing to see in New Sukhotai and really nothing of interest, nearby the hotel. By chance, we headed the left when getting out of the hotel and walked until the main road, were, on the left hand side, we found a typical Thai family restaurant were we ate seafood Thai style of its best !

Review 45:Beautifully decorated hotel, very nice style. Swimming pool in the patio, big and fresh enough to really enjoy. Days before arrival, we sent several e-mails asking the staff to help us how to get to the hotel from the Phitsanulok Railway Station, however without any result, finally we asked a Thai friend to call them, but the information they provided was really not helpfull, in fact false completely .. Anyway, besides of that, the staff was really very nice and friendly.

Review 46:Wifi does not work in the room. Lobby area was ok.

Review 47:All the staff are kind and helpful with smile. I like the traditional Thai style buildings and very nice swimming pool.

Review 48:Little far

Review 49:Pool

Review 50:The breakfast limited

Review 51:The pool

Review 52:-

Review 53:Everything

Review 54:The pool, breakfast

Review 55:Lovely staff and lovely decor. Nice pool.

Review 56:This is a wonderful building with lovely staff. Highly recommended.

Review 57:Nothing really Wifi is patchy

Review 58:Beautiful hotel Thai style authentic Very attentive staff Free shuttle from bus station Excellent food and bar

Review 59:Staff were very friendly and knew the area well. Arranged laundry , transfers and rang local bus company for onward travel.

Review 60:Bit lacking in atmosphere

Review 61:Swimming Pool Very helpful and polite staff

Review 62:The hotel is close the center

Review 63:poor hot breakfast

Review 64:the whole week end

Review 65:Atmosphere and the bunnies and architecture and restaurant - owners and staff delightful!!

Review 66:Very slow wi-fi.

Review 67:Staff, architecture of the hotel, the pool, and the breakfast.

Review 68:The bathroom smelled of sewer air.

Review 69:Nice hotel with ambiance. Lot of old and antique furniture.

Review 70:Hotel is far from many of the attractions. Nothing much around within walking distance.

Review 71:Property looks nice

Review 72:The price was a bit too high considering the general level of comfort.

Review 73:A very cosy hotel (and restaurant) with very friendly staff.

Review 74:A very individual hotel with loving care taken in its building and the service given to guests

Review 75:Extremely friendly and helpful staff beautiful resort feeling of a family-run business with cozy atmosphere great pool pick-up from bus station

Review 76:Breakfast, dirty mosquito net over the bed

Review 77:Swimming pool, bikes, free running bunnies, atmosphere, interior design

Review 78:Building works were messy on the day we arrived. Hotel is getting a bit tired. Average food. Bikes were free which is great, but they are in poor repair. Brakes are almost non-existent they are so worn.

Review 79:The room was clean and comfortable. Service was good. The ornaments and collectables are attractive and interesting. Pool was clean.

Review 80:air condition inside the room has not enough power to fight with temperature outside and room itself is too tight when it has furnished.

Review 81:style of living is good

Review 82:Hotel certainly was more upscale equipped than others in town, but still less value for money as rates were quite pricy.

Review 83:Small and cozy hotel with great pool.

Review 84:The staff was friendly and gracious. Each day the owner kindly drove us to and from the bus stop so that we could get the bus to Sukhothai. The beautiful swimming pool was an oasis after a day spent in the heat. Dinners in the restaurant were delicious. This is a gem.

Review 85:Nothing! The hotel was fantastic.

Review 86:It's one of the nicest hotels I have ever been. The hotel is beautiful, mostly made of wood. Everything is neat and carefully placed. The plants, tamed rabbits and the swimming pool contribute to a pleasant stay. The room is large, with a big and comfortable double bed with a mosquito net. Air condition works well, this is important in april because the weather is hot and very wet. The staff is extremely kind and helpful (as usual in Thailand). They will inform you very well how to go to the Historic Park, how to rent a bike there and how to go to other cities. They provide as well a free shuttle service to the bus station. You can get to the market (located close to the river) for food or drinks in 15 minutes on foot. We had a very good thai dinner in a street restaurant. The breakfast was included and it was a very good one, especially the thai option. The dining room is nice and very calm. The hotel provides other services such a thai massage that I didn't use.

Review 87:The 1st day of our stay breakfast was served in a large room which felt a bit institutional; the 2nd day breakfast was served in the restaurant where you could sit outside and we much preferred that.

Review 88:The staff are amazing, so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, they could not do enough for us. The hotel offers a free transfer service to and from the bus station not just for arrival and departure but also when you head off for day trips which is an wonderful service. They also offer free bikes for getting around town. We were very impressed with the service and hotel overall.

Review 89:The breakfast was great and they were very helpful and gave great advice. They offered a1 1/2 hour massage that was phenomenal. Would stay there again and again!

Review 90:simply a great place to stay! the place surrounding the pool is wonderful and people working there are kind of the most prefessional and friendly i meet in thailand.

Review 91:The room was to dark as it was hard to get day light in.The pool has the wrong tiles green is not a good color as people think the water is full of algae and one could get sick going in the water. The water quality was below a good health standard There was not enough chlorine in the water and no algae control. The floor was slippery and water runner insects where living in the pool water. This are not good signs for a healthy pool. The access in to the pool is not appropriate for older people. Needs a better ladder or stairs. The shower in the bathroom was pathetic.

Review 92:The Staff was very helpfull and super friendly .We felt like we know some of the people for a while. The Rabbits are great that the can go anywhere we loved them. The food was nice one waiter we liked as he tried very hard to understand us but got things mixed up.The Hotel and it's Staff is lovely. The whole atmosphere has a warm feeling.Ilked very much the antique furniture and the decor

Review 93:nothing. It was perfect. (wifi is erratic, but this is an isolated rural area, and it is no fault of the hotel).

Review 94:The staff is sensational, decor and design classically comfortable, pool outstanding, reasonable price. The restaurant is lovely and delicious, morning breakfast was generous. (coffee in the room) I truly loved everything about Ruean Thai, and if I return to Sukhotai I will stay with them.

Review 95:I did not got a room with 2 beds as booked, theeey want to get an extra charge for this.

Review 96:Small Hotel with friendly staff, nice Thai style wooden building. Bicycles for free.

Review 97:Slow, disorganized service and small portions in restaurant.

Review 98:Excellent, beautiful pool. Feeling of luxury. Attention to detail - pick up and drop off service. Very attentive staff, spoke good English, very helpful and pleasant.

Review 99:We were in a standard downstairs room, which was quite small and didn't have a wardrobe, just pegs on the wall. This was a nuisance, but wouldn't stop us going there again.

Review 100:The swimming pool is bliss to come back to after a long day of sight seeing, the sunbeds are very comfortable. The young ladies on reception are very helpful and speak very good English.

Review 101:Walk into town, night market at Sukhothai new town (City). Nearby restaurants not good.

Review 102:Wonderful antiques visual ecstasy .internal courtyard and green pool stunningly beautiful . Personal attention of family owners . Hotel taxi arrangements fulfilling extra needs. Extended stay because it was so good. Sukhothai Historic Park is exceptionally clean and well managed in comparison to Ayuthaya. Good restaurant for all meals, serving all day. Attention to our individual needs.

Review 103:The restaurant lacked atmosphere in the evenings and the staff were not overly friendly. The following may not apply to the more expensive rooms. The bathroom facilities were poor, no hot water for the sink, a dribble for a shower, no extraction fan, bad smell coming from drainage (tip - cover the drain hole with the waste bin). No cover for the waste bin which is supposed to take your toilet paper.

Review 104:Lovely, helpful staff on reception. Location a bit out of town, more than made up for by the peace and quiet, and free transfer into town. Walk back in half an hour, or cheap tuk-tuk. Great pool. Bed firm but not uncomfortable. Reasonable sized room.

Review 105:While I would choose to stay at this hotel again, please note there is no hot water to the sink in the bathroom, no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and pool towels are available for a cost (although you can use your room towel).

Review 106:The hotel setting is lovely and the staff helpful. Lovely pool with many sun-beds, good sized room, adequate breakfast. They say it is a 15 minute walk to town but I think it is less than that and they do offer a free shuttle during the day. A tuk tuk to the from town to the hotel is less than $2.

Review 107:Hard bed, Av shower,

Review 108:Nice quiet location, very friendly helpful staff. Easy to get to town and catch a tuk tuk to old sukhothai . Nice pool and restaurant at hotel was good to. The hotel rabbits roaming the grounds were very cute

Review 109:Cramped and small rooms, wi-fi not working in the room, only in the common areas. Cold pool.

Review 110:Nice old thai style building. Good breakfast and restaurant.

Review 111:In my opinion, what can be done for this hotel without any extra investment is to educate and soften the arrogant attitude of one of the owner's daughters. The staffs are lovely. The rest of the entire family who is running the hotel is so kind and humble except her. It's a shame ,because everything was almost just perfect. So, train her better if she has to communicate to customers at the front counter or put her in the kitchen chopping up vegetable is best otherwise. Also, if possible, pls make your bathroom facility such as hot water updated to the modern hotel facility. Somehow, overall is good for what you pay.

Review 112:nice antique ambience and setting. Valuable wooden pieces. Boutique northern ambience run by a family. For the price, I think you can't really say much of negative points. Cute Thai wooden place to stay.

Review 113:On a noisy side road, you hear everything. Windows close with solid wood and no light gets in.

Review 114:Absolutely beautiful hotel, great staff, good food in nice garden setting.

Review 115:It is positioned a bit far from the new town of Sukothai but the bicycles are good enough to pedal to the Historical Parc ob old Sukothai.

Review 116:Super nice place, comfortable, efficient staff, bycicles complimentary for rent and in quite good condition, good breakfast buffet, good swimming pool

Review 117:Some beds were very hard and the ground floor rooms on the road side were noisy at night.

Review 118:The rooms are very Thai style, minimal, lots of teak and eclectic collections on display. The pool is particularly attractive

Review 119:nothing negative to comment on.

Review 120:Very nice family run hotel. Ms. Song very efficient and helpful. Their restaurant is also very recommendable. Nice pool to relax. Would certainly advertise among friends.

Review 121:the owners were 'omni-present' which made the young staff itchy in making mistakes. wich they didn't! so: owners back-off a little

Review 122:- friendly, helpfull staff - adequete breakfast - good restaurant in-situ - pick-upservice

Review 123:The only thing I missed was a kettle in the room. This is usually standard in Thai hotels and I like to be able to cook a cup of coffee or a hot soup in my room.

Review 124:This is a really nice hotel. It is a little bit removed from the center but there isn´t too much to do there anyway. And they offer free transfer to/from the bus station and reasonably priced transfers to other places (like Old Sukhothai). There is not much around the hotel so you will probably have dinner in the hotel and I was positively surprised about the quality of the food in the hotel restaurant (if you tell them that you like it Thai spicy you get Thai spicy ;-)). Personnel was very friendly and attentive and their service was very good.

Review 125:rooms are a bit run down, specially wgen compared to the building they are in. the hotel is located very far away from the Sukhothai temples

Review 126:the building is beautiful

Review 127:The hotel was not aware of our booking, reception lack of skill near disaster, no courtesy coffee, tea; poor breakfast with instant coffee, no cereal, no yogurt. Too little for $120 /night, we'd expected old parquet flooring in the room not that very bad taste colorful granite to match with the antique furniture !

Review 128:The antique furnishing was ok

Review 129:must have been excellent some years ago, spend too little on maintainance (exapmple: pool some stones where loose/broken, paint came off, noise isolation not present) didn't have protection against mosquitos for the bed

Review 130:very friendly stuff, very result-orientated. Great outside of the hotel, good food in restaurant

Review 131:Beds are a bit hard and peoples don't speak lot of English

Review 132:The Place is really amazing and calm. Rooms are nice, clean and big. Inhouse restaurant is good and not very expensive (not a lot of restaurantaround). Free transfer to/from bus terminal

Review 133:I loved the friendlyness of the staff and the hotel itself. On the firstday the pick-up service was super fast and they welcomed us in a lovelyway. On the check out day they allowed us to chill on the swimming poolas long as we wanted, take a shower, and drove us to the bus station.Breakfast was really good: a big buffet with typical Thai food, freshfruits, sticky rice... And also western food. We were happy also withthe restaurant, where I celebrated my birthday. I would definitelyrecommend this place, better to spend at least 2 nights to enjoy it!

Review 134:The mattress was tough. It's in the new town, nothing exciting around here, so you'll have to take a taxi to go to the old town were the ruins are.

Review 135:The hotel is beautiful, arranged around a swimming pool. A really nice place! The staff was friendly also.

Review 136:The room was very small. Location i a small side street.

Review 137:The hotel was in traditional Thai style, a lot of wood and interesting decoration. The Thai massage was very good!
