Reviews for Camden Riverhouse Hotel and Inn
Review 1:All the furnishings and linen were old. They used paper cups instead of glass for the room. All seemed geared to the least amount of effort on their part.
Review 2:The room was a good size.
Review 3:The external appearance was poor Gardens were sadly in need of work, entry was dirty and unkept, entry stairs were dilapidated entry foyer was a bit rundown internally Staff were not well dressed ,perhaps a uniform would help There was a grubby male worker going/coming in and out of behind reception,it was not a good look Cleaning staff did not look the part. I always think if staff don't look after their appearance how well do they do the cleaning
Review 4:Rooms were comfortable but not really clean, bath curtain had mildew on it ,finishes were getting run down. Breakfast in the di ing room was ok
Review 5:There was nothing about this place we did not like. We will return!
Review 6:Knew it was the right place when we walked through the door. We were greeted by beautiful gardens and a smiling friendly woman behind the desk who turned out to be the manager. Did I mention it was downtown? With private parking! And Breakfast! Great Find!!
Review 7:Right in the centre of Camden with free parking right outside the front door. Good size, well equipped bedroom and bathroom maintained to the highest standard. Straight forward simple breakfast of bagels, muffins, oatmeal, cereals and waffles along with fresh fruits and berries.
Review 8:There was a hum in the room, maybe from being next to the pool. It was a little annoying. The pool was disappointing...very small and the hot tub was out of order.
Review 9:Easy access to downtown. Flower gardens were beautiful. The foot bridge was convenient and the ice cream stand nearby was great. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Review 10:The rooms we stayed in could use updating. The bed, and especially the pillows, weren't comfortable. The bathroom was serviceable, but there were water stains around the shower. The walls and floors were so thin that we could hear conversations in the adjoining rooms, an alarm clock that went off every morning at 6:15 am, and loud footfalls from the room above us.
Review 11:The grounds are very well-kept with beautiful flowers everywhere. The location is terrific--right in the heart of Camden, with plenty of parking. The nightly outdoor fire pit with the makings of s'mores was a nice touch. The staff is wonderful.
Review 12:Staff of one was not friendly. No one to assist with luggage or check in. Restroom for dirty pool was down a flight of stairs. Room was dirty and dingy.
Review 13:Location to town was the only redeeming feature.
Review 14:The outside at the back was a bit messy saw a lot of cigarette ends in clay fire oven thing. Hotel room needs updating. Lobby too busy lots of furniture.
Review 15:Staff were great. Location great and we could open room windows. Very comfortable beds.
Review 16:Couldn't sleep. You could hear people as if they were in you room. Breakfast guy was nice but wanted more different kinds of eggs. Jacuzzi seemed to be covered and pool room hot. Closed at 845pm
Review 17:Super friendly staff. Greeted us and got us to our room. Very close to the Camden sites.
Review 18:The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and modern. Indoor Jacuzzi and pool (with wheelchair access). Great breakfast selection with indoor or balcony seating. The location is within walking distance to everything in Camden. And the best part: S'mores every evening at the outdoor fire pit! :-D
Review 19:This hotel was right in the downtown area. It was an excellent value for the location. Staff were kind and courteous. I would love to come back and stay at this hotel!
Review 20:Doors unlocked all night. Front desk person was done for the night at 9. A bunch of young people came in at 1-3 am very loud running up and down stairs. No one at the front desk to complain and to make them stop.
Review 21:Rockland was close by. Restaurants were all in walking distance. We loved the fire pit. Comfortable chairs, privacy.
Review 22:We booked this the morning of our stay, and got a great rate. The outside of the hotel belied the interior. The lobby was clean and nicely decorated. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious.
Review 23:we could not get the tv to work and it was 9:30 when we decided to check the score so felt it was too late to ask for help. you need better instructions!
Review 24:i liked the warm blankets on the bed! I liked the view of the raging river.
Review 25:The breakfast area could have been cleaner, but the whole family loved the diy waffles!
Review 26:The first night of our stay, my husband locked our only set of keys in our car. It was past supper time, kids were hungry, mom was wishing we had a AAA membership. The owner called a friend who was a locksmith and we were at Pizza Hut within a half an hour. They went above and beyond.
Review 27:Accommodating staff. We live locally. The Camden Riverhouse Hotel is the first place we call when a storm threatens to knock power out. We also use Camden Riverhouse Hotel for our overflow house guests.
Review 28:The smell of the chlorine from the pool reached the third floor
Review 29:Quiet hotel in easy walking distance of the town centre and lots of restaurants. Breakfast was good with a waffle maker and a huge range of breads and spreads. The raspberry preserve was delicious. The guy who ran the breakfast room was helpful and chatty. Reception were helpful with directions to local walks. The room was large, clean and well equipped. We did stay in a room adjoining another and had that been occupied we think we would have heard quite a bit of noise through the connecting door. There was plenty of free car parking.
Review 30:We had a connecting room and I suspect had that been occupied we would have heard our neighbours. We could smell the chlorine from the pool on the third floor.
Review 31:It was tucked out of the way so pretty quiet. It was easy to walk to shops and restaurants. The breakfast was great with a wide range of muffins, bread and waffles. The raspberry preserve was particularly good. Plenty of parking.
Review 32:we had such a wonderful stay . It was a quiet and comfortable stay with very coutious people while we stayed. There is a lot of places to go just by walking and that to was very nice with our stay.
Review 33:Bedroom sink located in alcove separate from small bathroom.
Review 34:Good location near waterfront. Very helpful reception staff and breakfast staff. Very comfortable atmosphere.
Review 35:Fitness equipement and indoor pool weren't enticing.
Review 36:Nicely furnished, both the lobby and the rooms. The exterior was pleasant, too, with tomato plants growing next to the front door, and sunflowers in the parking lot. Free parking. Proximity. Good Quality breakfast.
Review 37:The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing. We enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the freedom of having a campfire and meeting people. Walking distance to everything. Good Time.
Review 38:Not a thing - the visit was perfect!
Review 39:Found this Inn on Booking.com. We had not heard of it before and had never been to Maine before - but we will be back!!! David and his staff could not have been nicer - Charming Inn!!! We stayed for our 32nd Anniversary. Staff had champagne and card waiting in our room for us upon arrival! The flowers everywhere that David grows are spectacular! The fire pit out back with s'more makings is delightful for guests to gather and share their day. The room was extremely comfortable and clean. We have already recommended the Inn to other friends. Love Camden, and love Camden Riverhouse Inn. All the staff are very helpful and thoughtful - we cant wait to go back! Many thanks for a delightful stay:)
Review 40:changing rooms for pool were unsatisfactory: subterranean, dark, poor quality, not even on same floor as the pool. The 'fitness room' was really a store room or workshop, I didn't want to peer over the make-shift room divider to clarify this. Pool dated but OK, towels for pool area ropey. They need to sort out the changing room arrangements and this would be a hotel to recommend.
Review 41:comfortable, clean en-suite bedrooms and Reception area, plenty of breakfast choices, friendly staff, free parking.
Review 42:Breakfast was disappointing, for something that was billed as deluxe. For a start it was served on paper plates/bowls and plastic cutlery. There was a relatively large choice but it was of poor quality - muffins were in plastic packaging (so not fresh) Bagels were the worst we had in our 2 weeks in the US, Hard bolied eggs were in vinegar in the fridge so goodness knows how long they had been there. I would stay here again but I'd go to the fabulous bakery in town for breakfast.
Review 43:Location was excellent, right in the middle of Camden, easy walk to town and the harbour. Rooms large and clean. Smores around the campfire in the evening were a nice idea and the kids loved them.
Review 44:TV malfunction and location of our room over pool area was slightly noisy, but not a deal breaker.
Review 45:We loved the slightly off Main St location. The working garden around the property was beautiful. Excellent continental breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 46:All was good.

Review 102:Comfortable beds, soft sheets, plenty of good quality towels, quiet a/c. Quiet overall. Location! Just a flowered footbridge over the river from restaurants, shops, and harbor.
Review 103:We needed a place for one night on our way further north in Maine and this turned out to be a great choice. The staff is helpful and friendly, the location is ideal, and the rooms are clean and comfy. This is an excellent choice at a very reasonable price.
